Den USA sind ein paar Geheimdienstdokumente geleaked. ... "IndyWatch Feed Europe"

The analysts warned that documents released by Russian sources could be selectively altered to present the Kremlins disinformation.
Oh aber ja doch, mein Herr! DAS ist hier das Problem!1!! Nicht etwa folgendes Randdetail:
For example, one of the slides said 16,000 to 17,500 Russian soldiers had been killed while Ukraine had suffered as many as 71,500 troop deaths. The Pentagon and other analysts have estimated that Russia has suffered far more casualties, with closer to 200,000 killed and injured, while Ukraine has had more than 100,000 killed and injured.
Ach. Ach was. Undenkbar!1!!

A Front Company and a Fake Identity: How the U.S. Came to Use Spyware It Was Trying to Kill "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

The secret contract was finalized on Nov. 8, 2021, a deal between a company that has acted as a front for the United States government and the American affiliate of a notorious Israeli hacking firm. Under the arrangement, the Israeli firm, NSO Group, gave the U.S. government access to one of its most powerful weapons a geolocation tool that can covertly track mobile phones around the world without the phone user's knowledge or consent. Only five days earlier, the Biden administration had announced it was taking action against NSO, whose hacking tools for years had been abused by governments around the world to spy on political dissidents, human rights activists and journalists. The White House placed NSO on a Commerce Department blacklist, declaring the company a national security threat. The secret contract ... violates the Biden administration's public policy, and still appears to be active. The contract, reviewed by The Times, stated that the "United States government" would be the ultimate user of the tool, although it is unclear which government agency authorized the deal and might be using the spyware. Elements of America's expansive national security apparatus in recent years have bought the weapons, deployed them against drug traffickers, and have quietly pushed to consolidate control of them into the hands of the United States and its closest allies. The F.B.I. purchased access in 2019 to NSO's most powerful hacking tool, known as Pegasus, which invades mobile phones and mines their contents.

Censorship by Proxy: How Big Tech Censors Global News Platforms "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Big Tech giants and their oligarchic owners now engage in a new type of censorship, which we have called "censorship by proxy." Censorship by proxy describes restrictions on freedom of information undertaken by private corporations that exceed limits on governmental censorship and serve both corporate and government or third-party interests. Censorship by proxy is not subject to venerable First Amendment proscriptions on government interference with freedom of speech or freedom of the press. Censorship by proxy alerts us to the power of economic entities that are not normally recognized as "gatekeepers." For example, in 2022, the digital financial service PayPal (whose founders include Peter Thiel and Elon Musk) froze the accounts of Consortium News and MintPress News for "unspecified offenses" and "risks" associated with their accounts, a ruling that prevented both independent news outlets from using funds maintained by PayPal. Consortium News and MintPress News have each filed critical news stories and commentary on the foreign policy objectives of the United States and NATO. PayPal issued notices to each news outlet, stating that, in addition to suspending their accounts, it might also seize their assets for "damages."  Joe Lauria, editor in chief of Consortium News, said he believed this was a case of "ideological policing." Mnar Adley, head of MintPress News, warned, "The sanctions-regime war is coming home to hit the bank accounts of watchdog journalists."

Pentagon Tries to Cast Bank Runs as National Security Threat "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

In recent months, the Pentagon has moved to provide loans, guarantees, and other financial instruments to technology companies it considers crucial to national security a step beyond the grants and contracts it normally employs. So when Silicon Valley Bank threatened to fail in March following a bank run, the defense agency advocated for government intervention to insure the investments. The Pentagon had even scrambled to prepare multiple plans to get cash to affected companies if necessary, reporting by Defense One revealed. Their interest in Silicon Valley Bank stems from the Pentagon's brand-new office, the Office of Strategic Capital. The secretary of defense established the OSC in December specifically to counteract the investment power of adversaries like China in U.S. technologies, and to secure separate funding for companies whose products are considered vital to national security. The national security argument for bailout, notably, found an influential friend in the Senate. As the Biden administration intervened to protect Silicon Valley Bank depositors on March 12, Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., who chairs the powerful Senate Intelligence Committee and also sits on the Banking Committee, issued a press release warning that the bank run posed a national security risk. Warner the only member of Congress to have publicly tied SVB to national security has received significant contributions from the financial sector. Since 2012, Warner has received over $21,000 from Silicon Valley Bank's super PAC.

US Army awards Lockheed up to $4.5 bln missiles contract "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N) said on Monday the U.S. Army has awarded a multi-year production contract for Joint-Air-to-Ground Missiles (JAGM) and HELLFIRE missiles, in a deal that could go up to $4.5 billion including follow-on awards. The contract, which will have a total value of $439 million in its first year, is among the first multi-year awards for precision munitions, as the Pentagon looks to build stocks in the hopes of deterring China. In March, President Joe Biden requested $842 billion for the Pentagon and $44 billion for defense-related programs at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Energy and other agencies. The 2024 budget proposal is $28 billion more than last year's $858 billion. Lockheed added the contract also offers three additional follow-on awards which will start in late 2023, allowing for a total contract value of up to $4.5 billion over the next four years. The JAGM program anticipates a "significant increase" in international demand for the weapon system, Lockheed said.

Note: Many benefit financially from warfare when it comes to provoking proxy wars and furthering U.S. agendas of full-spectrum dominance, as thoroughly explored in the book War is a Racket by the highly decorated general Smedley D. Butler. According to a revealing report, at least 47 members of Congress and their spouses hold between $2 million and $6.7 million worth of stock in Lockheed Martin and other companies that are among the top 100 defense contractors.

Brazilian gold miners get free rein in Venezuelas Indigenous lands "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

SANTA ELENA DE UAIRN, Venezuela Standing at the brink of a man-made canyon, Jhonny Pereira, a Brazilian-born mining boss, looks down at a dozen gold miners as they plough through piles of soil and rocks. Theyre toiling in the Parkupi mine, in southern Venezuela, about 35 kilometers (about 22 miles) from the border with Brazil. There are more people here now, he tells me, almost yelling to cover the rumbling of machines that use high-pressure water jets to dislodge rock and move gravel. You know, its out of necessity; people here are starving, he says. He is one of thousands of Brazilian wildcat miners, locally known as garimpeiros, who have migrated to Venezuela in search of gold. Pereira and other garimpeiros know their mining activities destroy these pristine lands. He laments the destruction theyre causing and has made some meager attempts to restore lands. Yet, such efforts are limited, and these territories are remain scarred, while Indigenous people witness their lands being exploited and feel trapped in a place of little opportunity. Since the collapse of Venezuelas economy reduced by roughly three-quarters between 2014 and 2021 the country has increasingly relied on Brazil for imports of food, medicine, fuel, machinery and other basic supplies to keep their local population and the mines alive. Venezuelan bolivares are useless. Here, everything is paid in Brazilian reais or in gold. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when people struggled to access food and medicine, supplies still reached the mines, says a merchant,This article was originally published on Mongabay

Kremlin responds to claim of secret rocket purchases "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

RT | April 11, 2023

The Kremlin has rejected a claim that it was planning to secretly acquire rockets from Egypt. The allegations were said to have come from leaked US intelligence files.

This looks like yet another false story, as there are many of them today [in the media]. That is how one should treat such reports, spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a phone call with journalists on Tuesday.

The Washington Post cited a US intelligence document on Monday that claimed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi had ordered the production of up to 40,000 rockets so they could be discreetly shipped to Russia.

El-Sisi was quoted as telling officials that the operation should be secret to avoid problems with the West. He also reportedly mentioned plans to supply Moscow with artillery rounds and gunpowder.

According to the Post, the document was among alleged classified Pentagon files that were dumped online earlier this year and unearthed by news organizations last week.

Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid told the Post that Cairo remains committed to non-involvement in the Ukraine conflict and to maintain equal distance with both sides.

We continue to urge both parties to cease hostilities and reach a political solution through negotiations, Zeid said.

Al Qahera News, meanwhile, cited an Egyptian official who claimed that the Posts story is nonsense that is not based on truth.

Egypt has maintained close ties with Moscow since Soviet times and is one of the top buyers of Russian weapons. At the same time, the country has good relations with the US, as the two states share a history of security cooperation. The US has also provided military assistance to Egypt.

The US and its allies have imposed sweeping sanctions on Russia over the Ukraine conflict, aiming to cut its export revenues.

Sergey Chemezov the head of state-run Russian company Rostec, which oversees the work of several defense manufacturers said in January that the production of munitions has been substantially increased. He stated that the talk about Russia running out of rockets and rounds is complete nonsense.

The pressure of giant industrial sectors appear to be heavier than the needed political well to reduce the dangerous impacts of the excessive use of those drugs which are widely employed to prevent and treat infections in humans, aquaculture, livestock, and crop production.

Antibiotics are perhaps the most familiar ones, but there are many others, including numerous antivirals, antifungals and antiparasitic agents that have been largely used and misused to treat diseases but that end up spreading them.

They are known as superbugs resulting from their increasing resistance to those medicines. And they are antimicrobial resistant germs which are found in people, animals, food, plants and the environment (in water, soil and air).

They can spread from person to person or between people and animals, including from food of animal origin, as further explained by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Pentagon Leak Shows US Dragging Allies Into War With Russia "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Ekaterina Blinova Sputnik 11.04.2023

South Korea, the UK, Israel, and Bulgaria have all rushed to deny the veracity of the alleged Pentagon leak. The dump not only exposed Washingtons possible plans and routine spying, but also cast a shadow on its allies, with Seoul, London, Tel Aviv, and Sofia branding the batch as false.

The US Justice Department on April 10 opened an investigation into the purported leak of US Department of Defense intelligence documents. The trove of apparently classified files contains the Pentagons assessments of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and Washingtons efforts to persuade its allies to jump on its proxy war bandwagon.

I think [the documents are] extraordinary, for a number of reasons, Professor Joe Siracusa, US political expert and dean of Global Futures, Curtin University, told Sputnik. Number one, most leaks in the past weve learned about in retrospect. These documents are fresh. Some of them are barely 40 days old and tell us exactly the debates that are going on in South Korea. South Korea doesnt like to pass on ammunition to third parties, for example. And theres a debate within South Korea about the pressure from the Americans. And there it is. Its all in the documents. Its not even in the South Korean media. Whats extraordinary about this is how recent these documents are. And its not like Snowden, or Chelsea Manning, or Julian Assange, [where] sometimes the documents are two or three years afterwards, or even in my day, the Pentagon Papers were many years afterwards. These are very fresh and, I think, very embarrassing.

Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Fire

The much-discussed Pentagon docs showed that South Korea found itself between a rock and a hard place after agreeing to sell artillery shells to help the United States replenish its stockpiles. The problem was that Seoul was worried that Washington would divert munitions to the Kiev regime. The Asian nations official policy prohibits it from providing lethal weapons to countries at war. In addition, the report concerning South Koreas back-and-forths was based on signals intelligence, meaning the US has been spying on its ally, as per The New York Times.

While the leak risks triggering tensions between Washington and Seoul, it may simultaneously backfire on longstanding relations between South Korea and Russia. Addressing the plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club in October 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned Seoul against arming the Kiev regime. The Russian president suggested that...

Finlands NATO Move Leaves Others to Carry On the Helsinki Spirit "IndyWatch Feed War"

Finnish President receives Nobel Peace Prize in 2008. Photo Credit: Nobel Prize

By Medea Benjamin and Nicolas J. S. Davies, World BEYOND War, April 11, 2023

On April 4, 2023, Finland officially became the 31st member of the NATO military alliance. The 830-mile border between Finland and Russia is now by far the longest border between any NATO country and Russia, which otherwise borders only Norway, Latvia, Estonia, and short stretches of the Polish and Lithuanian borders where they encircle Kaliningrad.

In the context of the not-so-cold war between the United States, NATO and Russia, any of these borders is a potentially dangerous flashpoint that could trigger a new crisis, or even a world war. But a key difference with the Finnish border is that it comes within about 100 miles of Severomorsk, where Russias Northern Fleet and 13 of its 23 nuclear-armed submarines are based. This could well be where World War III will begin, if it has not already started in Ukraine.

In Europe today, only Switzerland, Austria, Ireland and a handful of other small countries remain outside NATO. For 75 years, Finland was a model of successful neutrality, but it is far from demilitarized. Like Switzerland, it has a large military, and young Finns are required to perform at least six months of military training after they turn 18. Its active and reserve military forces make up over 4% of the population compared with only 0.6% in the U.S. and 83% of Finns say they would take part in armed resistance if Finland were invaded.

Only 20 to 30% of Finns have historically supported joining NATO, while the majority have consistently and proudly supported its policy of neutrality. In late 2021, a Finnish opinion poll measured popular support for NATO membership at 26%. But after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, that jumped to 60% within weeks and, by November 2022, 78% of Finns said they supported joining NATO.

As in the United States and other NATO countries, Finlands political leaders have been more pro-NATO than the general public....

New EPA Car Pollution Standards Could Lead to 67% New EV Sales by 2032 "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

In 2022, electric vehicles (EVs) made up just 5.8 percent of new car sales. But that number could jump as high as 67 percent by 2032 if the Biden administrations Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) follows through with tough new tailpipe emissions standards.

The new standards, which were shared with The New York Times Saturday by two people familiar with the situation, would be the most ambitious federal climate regulation to date.

The race to cleaner air, a safer climate and more made in America jobs is on, Environmental Defense Fund President Fred Krupp said in a statement responding to the news.

The standards would go beyond President Joe Bidens stated goal of making sure around half of all cars sold in the U.S. by 2030 are EVs. Essentially, they would work by making vehicle emissions requirements so strict that automakers would have to boost their EV sales.

It isnt WebAssembly, but it is Assembly in Your Browser "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

You might think assembly language on a PC is passe. After all, we have a host of efficient high-level languages and plenty of resources. But there are times you want to use assembly for some reason. Even if you dont, the art of writing assembly language is very satisfying for some people like an intricate logic puzzle. Getting your assembly language fix on a microcontroller is usually pretty simple, but on a PC there are a lot of hoops to jump. So why not use your browser? Thats the point of this snazzy 8086 assembler and emulator that runs in your browser. Actually, it is not native to the browser, but thanks to WebAssembly, it works fine there, too.

No need to set up strange operating system environments or link to an executable file format. Just write some code, watch it run, and examine all the resulting registers. You can do things using BIOS interrupts, though, so if you want to write to the screen or whatnot, you can do that, too.

The emulation isnt very fast, but if you are single-stepping or watching, thats not a bad thing. It does mean you may want to adjust your timing loops, though. We didnt test our theory, but we expect this is only real mode 8086 emulation because we dont see any protected mode registers. Thats not a problem, though. For a learning tool, youd probably want to stick with real mode, anyway. The...

Kiev to run out of its anti-air missiles "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Lucas Leiroz | April 11, 2023

Apparently, it is increasingly difficult to hide the catastrophic situation of Kievs war arsenal. According to a major Western media outlet, the neo-Nazi regime will run out of most of its anti-air missiles by next month. The source of the newspaper would be an alleged leaked Pentagons document. The case shows once again how unfavorable the military scenario of the conflict is for the Ukrainian forces.

The subject was discussed in a recent article published by the Wall Street Journal. According to the outlet, documents leaked on the Pentagons official social networks would have exposed an extremely pessimistic forecast about the future of the Ukrainian armed forces, pointing to the nearly total exhaustion of Kievs anti-aircraft defense capacity. Anti-air missiles are expected to run out in May, which will further complicate the Ukrainian situation and boost demand for new NATO weapons packages in order to prolong the alliances proxy war.

The forecast is based on a calculation taking into account the recent numbers of the Ukrainian army. Currently, Kiev is expending about 69 Buk missiles and 200 S-300 missiles a month to maintain its defense positions against the Russian air attacks. With these numbers, it is most likely that the Buk missiles will run out in early April and that the stock of S-300s will expire by May 3rd, according to Pentagons officials in the leaked document.

Indeed, some measures to mitigate the effects of Ukrainian anti-aircraft weakness have already been taken by Western forces. Kiev received three Iris-T anti-aircraft systems from Germany, in addition to eight American NASAMS systems. However, these devices allow a limited number of launches, which do not cover as much territory as the S-300 missiles. This limited aid has made it difficult to efficiently supply new Western missiles to Ukraine, making Kiev still heavily dependent on Soviet-era launch systems.

In this sense, a new wave of broad military support would be needed to overcome the Ukrainian deficit. The US military, according to what is exposed in the revealed paper, estimate that the necessary number will reach 16 Irist-T or NASAMS batteries and up to 12 Patriot or SAMP-T batteries. It is necessary to remember that recently the American president Joe Biden had already authorized the sending of a Patriot battery, at the same time that Germany, France and Italy promised to supply a SAMP-T system to the neo-Nazi regime. However, this equipment has not yet reached Ukraine, which is why the situation of Kievs defense has not yet improved.

Since late 2022, requests for military aid focused on anti-aircraft defense have been constant in Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskys speeches. He considers this type of equipment a number one priority, and his advisors have also request...

Homologation and validation of new vehicle models today require millions of test kilometers to be driven under different environmental conditions, on different types of roads in various countries around the world.

Due to the increased complexity of automated driving (AD) and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) functions, and new developments in radar technology, testing efforts expand very quickly. Just relying on road testing is no longer practical.

The Rohde & Schwarz radar test system opens a completely new field of possibilities for testing radar-based ADAS and AD features to ensure correct operation in hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) and vehicle-in-the-loop (ViL) testbeds.

In addition, scenario testing of autonomous driving functions on the public roads can be dangerous, and under conditions that are not easily reproducible.

As a result, hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) and vehicle-in-the-loop (ViL) scenario testing of automotive radar is gaining importance.

Your challenges:

  • End-to-end verification, validation, calibration or homologation of AD/ADAS functions at component and full-vehicle level
  • Reproducing complex traffic scenarios, automotive radar object simulation over-the-air
  • Ensuring the radar target generation test equipment is scalable and has the technical specifications to cover the increasing number of targets, and future complex scenarios
  • Meeting the increased test-complexity requirements of ADAS target simulation while minimizing costs and accelerating time-to-market

RTS features:

  • Automotive radar target simulator for driving scenario testing that can be easily defined and executed with the highest reproducibility
  • Complex automotive radar object simulations including multiple sensors, over-the-air
  • Increased accuracy and repeatability from fully-electronic antenna arrays
  • Fully scalable, covering all use cases from R&D to production, easily upgradable to cover future requirements</li> </ul> <p><a href= "https://www.rohde-schwarz.com/solutions/test-and-measurement/automotive/automotive-radar/automotive-radar-object-simulation-for-validation/automotive-radar-object-simulation-for-validation_231760.html?mid=15168" rel="orange_button" target="_blank">Find out more </a></p>

Combined Review and Tutorial Around the RUT-240 "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Routing 4G cellular data to a BSD network using bridge mode on the RUT-240:

The RUT-240 from Teltonika networks is a small and fairly inexpensive 4G router which is commonly used to provide internet connectivity for remote devices that are either in locations without regular fixed-line broadband, or where high availability is required. Think smart meters, monitoring systems, and so on.

In the case of high availability, the RUT-240 is connected in line with a conventional internet router, and it's own cellular connection is only used when a lack of connectivity is detected. Both of these configurations often involve the use of a special SIM card, to which the cellular operator has provisioned a static, public IP address, thus allowing inbound connections to the connected remote devices, (as well as access to the router itself for configuration and admin purposes).

[...T]oday we're going to use our RUT-240 for a completely different purpose. No special SIM required, and we're not going to be travelling out in to the wilds either. Just a regular pre-paid SIM, and the normal office surroundings.

Instead, we'll be exploring the use of this router as a backup connection for an existing OpenBSD-based router, or even - within limits - as a replacement for fixed line broadband. This latter option might make sense on a short term basis in a new office that hasn't been fully connected yet, or in a temporary office in an awkward location where DSL or fibre isn't available. Attending a conference, but all the decent hotels are fully booked? Stuck on a boat in dry dock? Not a problem!

Invading Mexico in the Name of the Drug War Is a Really Bad Idea "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Weimin Chen Mises Wire 04/10/2023

Following the violent attack on Americans in the Mexican border city of Matamoros in early March, South Carolina Republican senator Lindsey Graham stated that he was prepared to get tough and introduce legislation to set the stage for US military intervention in Mexico. The move would be a significant escalation in the long-running war on drugs that has been raging under the auspices of the United States for many decades to the dismay of many Latin American countries.

Graham continues to ignore the disastrous results of the use of force in US foreign policy as he eyes adding Mexico to his growing bucket list of interventionist missions. If previous interventions serve as examples, a US military intervention in Mexico would be just another excuse to expand national security interests and mire the country in another costly conflict.

Matamoros Attack

Grahams comments on using military force in Mexico were sparked when four Americans were kidnapped in Matamoros on the Mexican side of the border with Texas. The area is known for having a heavy drug cartel presence due to its proximity to the US-Mexico border. The four Americans have been identified as Latavia Tay McGee, Shaeed Woodard, Zindell Brown, and Eric James Williams.

McGees mother told reporters that her daughter was traveling to undergo a cosmetic surgical procedure with the other three. They were fired on in downtown Matamoros and loaded into a pickup truck. A local woman, Areli Pablo Servando, was also killed by a stray bullet in the attack. Brown and Woodard were eventually found dead, while Williams and McGee survived.

Later, a letter of apology along with five men found with their hands tied were turned over to authorities of the Tamaulipas state law enforcement purportedly by the Scorpion faction of the Gulf Cartel. The organization extended its apology to the families of the victims and to the people of Matamoros in general for the poor decision-making and discipline of its affiliated associates.

This public relations move indicated that the cartel was alarmed by the outcry following the attack and wanted to frame it as an unusual incident outside of the ordinary rules under which it operates. Chances are that the cartel wanted to do anything they co...

Report sums up Bolsonaros destruction legacy and Amazons next critical steps "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

After four years of environmental destruction, Brazil has reached a crossroads that will determine the fate of its biomes and its role in the global climate crisis. In its first 100 days in office, the new government has taken decisive action to undo the damage inflicted by former president Jair Bolsonaro, experts say. However, they also warn there are three crucial measures pending that need to be pushed forward this year, and that failing to do so could undermine the campaign promises of President Luiz Incio Lula da Silva. A damning new report from the Climate Observatory, a network of civil society organizations, compiled four years worth of measures by the Bolsonaro administration, in office from 2019 to 2022, ranging from the dismantling of environmental protection agencies to record high levels of deforestation. The report makes a clear conclusion: the former president deliberately tried to sabotage environmental conservation. There was a calculated plan to destroy the environment, Marcio Astrini, executive secretary of the Climate Observatory, told Mongabay by phone. We know that everything that happened was not by chance. It was a plan of destruction. Final numbers of the damage the Bolsonaro administration inflicted on Brazils environment, according to the report, include: zero Indigenous territories demarcated; a 60% increase in deforestation from the previous four-year period, the largest increase ever recorded in a presidential term; a 12.2% increase in greenhouse gas emissions from 2020 to 2021, the highest in 19 years; and a 38% decrease in the number of finesThis article was originally published on Mongabay

The Taliban did in one year what Washington couldnt in 20, sparking new panic "IndyWatch Feed War"

The ban on Afghan poppy cultivation is set to hit Europes heroin supplies

By Rachel Marsden | RT | April 11, 2023

Its been nearly a year since the Taliban banned Afghan poppy farming used for the production of opioids. The impact of the move is set to hit global markets sometime soon, given the delay from farm to customer.

Youd think that would bring a welcome sigh of relief. Apparently not. Reports are now suggesting that a lack of Afghan heroin on the global market and a reduction of available natural opioids like heroin could lead to increased use of synthetic opioids like fentanyl. If thats the case, then its only because Washington and the West are about as competent at curtailing skyrocketing drug overdose deaths as they were at tackling the cultivation of Afghan opioids back when they had control of the country. Synthetic opioids from China and Mexico are increasingly being used, as are those procured through prescriptions within Americas own healthcare system.

Over the course of the US-led Global War on Terror that kicked off in Afghanistan in 2001, heroin overdoses in the US and elsewhere spiked. Despite having control over the country and its government for two decades, Washington not only failed to curtail farming and exports of Afghan opium, but oversaw an increase.

In February 2004, then US Assistant Secretary for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, Robert Charles, outlined a new policy for countering narcoterrorism in Afghanistan before Congress. He cited a desire to assist the US-backed Afghan government with its objective to eliminate opium poppy cultivation and trade in 10 years. The project would involve deploying CIA-linked USAID to poppy-growing areas to help find alternative farming solutions. But there have always been strong doubts over the sincerity of such efforts. A US Department of Justice policy paper from 1991 accused the CIA of complicity in the narcotics trade in Afghanistan, underscoring that covert CIA operations in Afghanistan, for example, have transformed South Asia from a self-contained opium zone...

Uranus: Diamond Rain, Bright Rings "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Uranus: Diamond Rain, Bright Rings

Thinking about the ice giants, as I have been doing recently in our look at fast mission concepts, reminds me of the diamond rain notion that has grown out of research into experiments with the temperatures and pressures found inside worlds like Uranus and Neptune. The concept isnt new, but I noted some months ago that scientists at the Department of Energys SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory had been studying diamond formation in such worlds in the presence of oxygen. Oxygen, it turns out, makes it more likely that diamonds form that may grow to extreme sizes.

So let me turn back the clock for a moment to last fall, when news emerged about this exotic precipitation indicating that it may be more common than we had thought. Using a material called PET (polyethylene terephthalate), the SLAC researchers created shock waves within the material and analyzed the result with X-ray pulses. The scientists used PET because of its balance between carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, components more closely mimicking the chemical composition of Neptune and Uranus.

While earlier experiments had used a plastic material made from hydrogen and carbon, the addition of oxygen made the formation of diamonds more likely, and apparently allowed them to grow at lower temperatures and pressures than previously thought possible. The team, led by Dominik Kraus (SLAC/University of Rostock), suggests that such diamonds under actual ice giant conditions might reach millions of carats in weight, forming a layer around the planetary core. Silvia Pandolfi, a SLAC scientist involved in this work, was quoted in a SLAC news release last September:

We know that Earths core is predominantly made of iron, but many experiments are still investigating how the presence of lighter elements can change the conditions of melting and phase transitions. Our experiment demonstrates how these elements can change the conditions in which diamonds are forming on ice giants. If we want to accurately model planets, then we need to get as close as we can to the actual composition of the planetary interior.

Image: Studying a material that even more closely resembles the composition of ice giants, researchers found that oxygen boost...

If you want the big Reforms open source philosophy in a body fit for a coat pocket, this might be the computing device for you.

To refresh your memory, MNT is a company that specializes in open source hardware and the software to support it. They are probably best known for the Reform, their first laptop. Its marquis feature is a fully open design, from the mechanical components (designed with OSS tools) to the PCBAs (designed with KiCad) to the software (designed with, uh, software). When originally shipped that product packed a DIMM-style System On Module (SOM) with a default configuration containing a quad core NXP i.MX8M Quad and 4GB of RAM, as well as mini PCIe Card and M key m.2 2280 slots on the motherboard for storage and connectivity. That computer was designed to be easily serviceable and included a plethora of full sized ports along with easy to source cylindrical battery cells. Why the Media Dont Want to Know the Truth About the Nord Stream Blasts "IndyWatch Feed World"

No one but the terminally nave should be surprised that security services lie and that they are all but certain to cover their tracks when they carry out operations that either violate domestic or international law or that would be near-universally rejected by their own populations.

Which is reason enough why anyone following the fallout from explosions last September that ripped holes in three of the four Nord Stream pipelines in the Baltic Sea supplying Russian gas to Europe should be wary of accepting anything Western agencies have to say on the matter.

In fact, the only thing that Western publics should trust is the consensus among investigators that the three simultaneous blasts deep underwater on the pipelines a fourth charge apparently failed to detonate were sabotage, not some freak coincidental accident.

Someone blew up the Nord Stream pipelines, creating an untold environmental catastrophe as the pipes leaked huge quantities of methane, a supremely active global-warming gas. It was an act of unrivaled industrial and environmental terrorism.

If Washington had been able to pin the explosions on Russia, as it initially hoped, it would have done so with full vigor. There is nothing Western states would like more than to intensify world fury against Moscow, especially in the context of NATOs express efforts to weaken Russia through a proxy war waged in Ukraine.

But, after the claim made the rounds of front pages for a week or two, the story of Russia destroying its own pipelines was quietly shelved. That was partly because it seemed too difficult to maintain a narrative in which Moscow chose to destroy a critical part of its own energy infrastructure.

Not only did the explosions cause Russia great financial harm the countrys gas and oil revenues regularly financed nearly half of its annual budget but the blasts removed Moscows chief influence over Germany, which had been until then heavily dependent on Russian gas. The initial media story required the Western public to believe that President Vladimir Putin willingly shot himself in the foot, losing his only leverage over European resolve to impose economic sanctions on his country.

But even more than the complete lack of a Russian motive, Western states knew they would be unable to build a plausible forensic case against Moscow for the Nord Stream blasts.

Instead, with no chance to milk the explosio...

CAPS, new gas megaproject, aims to power Central Africa, but at what cost, critics ask "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

More than 60% of people in Central Africa have no access to electricity. An ambitious proposal aims to change that with a network of pipelines, refineries and gas-fired power plants stretching across 11 countries in the region. But critics say the proposed Central African Pipeline System is a mistake. Nathalie Lum, chairwoman of the Central Africa Business Energy Forum (CABEF), an organization that hosts an annual conference of oil and gas corporations and regional energy ministers, told Mongabay that CAPS will help make the Central Africa region an energy poverty-free zone by 2030. Access to reliable, affordable energy can help reduce poverty, attract investments, and create jobs, while also providing an important source of revenue for governments. she said. CABEF describes itself as a platform for developing cooperation between Central African countries which aims to use natural gas, a fossil fuel, to power homes and businesses as well as the mining industry. However, a 2020 study by the International Finance Corporation, the private sector development arm of the World Bank Group, suggests that Africas onshore wind potential is enough to satisfy the entire continents current electricity demands 250 times over. The continent also has an abundance of solar energy, which is increasingly affordable to harness. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change, the unit cost of electricity from solar has declined by 85% over the past decade, while the cost of wind energy has declined byThis article was originally published on Mongabay

A Ramadan reflection on Islam and climate action (commentary) "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

This month, Muslims across the world welcomed the month of Ramadan a blessed month during which they fast and strive towards nurturing God-consciousness both spiritually and through acts of goodness. This month also marked the release of the new IPCC report, which provides a how-to guide to defuse the climate time-bomb, as described by UN Secretary General Antnio Guterres. However, what characterized this report was a hopeful urgency in the call to action. The report calls for a joint commitment by all of humanity to participate in a global effort towards a radical shift in the impacts of climate change. As the IPCC Working Group II Co-Chair, Debra Roberts explained last year, Our assessment clearly shows that tackling all these different challenges involves everyoneworking together to prioritize risk reductionin this way, different interests, values and world views can be reconciled  Different perspectives, world views, and approaches to understanding and connecting with the Earths wellbeing, must cooperatively form the climate action narrative. US once again turning sword to Latin America as its global power wanes "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

By Drago Bosnic | April 11, 2023

The political West is always shocked by how deeply unpopular it is in the Global South and cannot comprehend why it dares to refuse to side with them against Russia and/or China. This lesson is something the political elites of the United States and its numerous satellite states need to be reminded of from time to time. On the other hand, the political West never stopped treating the Global South as a fief that just so happens to be populated by several billion people, all of whom are seen as fair game. Needless to say, this has left disastrous consequences for the vast majority of those living in the targeted countries.

While some were attacked directly, such as Iraq (twice), Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, Yemen, former Yugoslavia/Serbia, etc. others were being exploited peacefully. Luckily for the world, the power of the globes most imperialist bloc is gradually fading away. This is certainly not to say that it has already collapsed, but the process is well underway. The political West is also perfectly aware of this, so it now needs to prioritize which areas of the Global South it can target. Its days of waging war on the millions of unfortunate people of the Middle East will soon be over, very likely forever.

However, as the US power projection capabilities dwindle, its once again turning its sword toward the immediate neighborhood. And its not even trying to be at least somewhat subtle about it, as the people of Mexico are being threatened to find out because many in Washington DC believe it is the Mexicans fault that America is getting flooded with drugs smuggled in by the cartels. Ironically (or should we say hypocritically) enough, it was precisely the US intelligence services that essentially created these hideously violent organizations and ...

Bitcoin and Global Hegemony "IndyWatch Feed War"

Both empirical realities and existing predictions show the usefulness and potential of Bitcoin as an instrument of national power in the practice of statecraft and also as a versatile element that could serve various roles under confrontational geopolitical conditions. However, it is unclear at this point if BTC and similar nonstate cybercurrencies could influence the fate of global hegemony. The historical record shows a strong symbiotic connection between the architecture of international monetary systems and political realities related to the global balance of power and the systemic structure of polarity. Specifically, major reserve currencies have always been issued by hegemonic great powers and underwritten by the strength that those superior positions confer. Such has been the case since the days of the Athenian drachma, the Roman denarius and the Byzantine solidus to the US dollar. In this regard, could the disruptiveness of unofficial cryptocurrencies like BTC have implications for the evolution of hegemony and the redistribution of the global correlation of forces in the coming decades? Admittedly, there is no hard conclusive evidence at this point but, from a long-range perspective, their existence is a relatively recent phenomenon, and the ultimate extent of their conceivable geopolitical ramifications remains unknown. After all, the arc of the so-called longue dure brings both predictable cyclical patterns and wild cards whose behaviour is hard to anticipate. Therefore, the formulation of an answer requires the practice of strategic foresight to assess multiple hypothetical possibilities and to determine how each could reshape hegemony. In order to do so, the present analysis integrates the scrutiny of forecasts, scenarios and perspectives. In particular, it seeks to identify the plausible implications of said cybercurrency for the hegemonic position still held by the United States as the leading superpower and the supremacy of the US dollar as the worlds top reserve currency.

BTCs potential as a major reserve currency

The idea of a major global reserve currency not controlled by any national state is not new. In the context of the Bretton Woods conference, British economist John Maynard Keynes proposed the idea of launching a supranational monetary unit, called Bancor, which would be backed by gold, a plan that was unsurprisingly not welcomed by Washington. No sane statesmen would have missed the opportunity to achieve global monetary and financial superiority as a war booty. In the post-Cold War era, the rise of Bitcoin endorses once more the hypothetical scenario of a de-nationalized global currency that cannot be unilaterally controlled in accordance with the particular interests of a singl....

Now We Know How a Solar Storm Took Out a Fleet of Starlinks "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Now We Know How a Solar Storm Took Out a Fleet of Starlinks:

On March 23rd, sky observers marvelled at a gorgeous display of northern and southern lights. It was reminder that when our Sun gets active, it can spark a phenomenon called "space weather." Aurorae are among the most benign effects of this phenomenon.

At the other end of the space weather spectrum are solar storms that can knock out satellites. The folks at Starlink found that out the hard way in February 2022. On January 29th that year, the Sun belched out a class M 1.1 flare and related coronal mass ejection. Material from the Sun traveled out on the solar wind and arrived at Earth a few days later. On February 3, Starlink launched a group of 49 satellites to an altitude only 130 miles above Earth's surface. They didn't last long, and now solar physicists know why.

A group of researchers from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and the Catholic University of America took a closer look at the specifics of that storm. Their analysis identified a mass of plasma that impacted our planet's magnetosphere. The actual event was a halo coronal mass ejection from an active region in the northeast quadrant of the Sun.

The material traveled out at around 690 kilometers per second as a shock-driving magnetic cloud. Think of it as a long ropy mass of material writhing its way through space. As it traveled, it expanded and at solar-facing satellitesincluding STEREO-A, which took a direct hit from itmade observations. Eventually, the cloud smacked into Earth's magnetosphere creating a geomagnetic storm.

One of the side effects of space weather that can affect satellites is warming in a region called the "thermosphere". That increased the density of the upper atmosphere over a short amount of time and caused it to swell up. A denser atmosphere causes a phenomenon called "atmospheric drag". Essentially, the thicker atmosphere slows down anything moving through. It also heats things up.

By Refusing To Host Israel, Indonesia Shows Us How to Defeat Apartheid "IndyWatch Feed World"

Palestinians are being killed in record numbers. Racist, hate-filled fanatic Zionists are invading the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Palestinian worshipers are being terrorized by Israeli forces. Yet it is Indonesia that is being penalized internationally merely for engaging in discussions about not allowing an Israeli soccer team to play on its soil.

The Israeli under-20 soccer team was supposed to play at a FIFA tournament in Indonesia in the summer. But after internal Indonesian discussions about blocking Israel from playing, FIFA decided to take away the tournament and not allow Indonesia to host it.

One would expect that after several reports published by major internationally acclaimed human rights organizations stating that Israel is engaged in the crime of apartheid a crime so heinous it is categorized as a Crime Against Humanity that international sporting organizations would stand up and ban Israel from participating in international sporting events. However, they do not, and it remains up to individual athletes and countries to stand up to apartheid Israel.

CNN reported that Soccers world governing body FIFA has stripped Indonesia of its right to host the Under-20 Mens World Cup later this year after an Indonesian official objected to the participation of Israel. CNN further writes that FIFA has decided, due to the current circumstances, to remove Indonesia as the host of the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2023, the sports governing body said in a statement without providing further clarification. A new host will be announced as soon as possible, with the dates of the tournament currently remaining unchanged.

Also, according to the CNN report, the statement by FIFA officials said, sanctions against the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) were also possible. The question is, why? Why is Indonesia being penalized, and why are sanctions against it being discussed? What did Indonesia do to deserve such treatment?

A strategy of punitive measures

Indonesian President Joko Jokowi Widodo appealed to the public in a televised address, reiterating Indonesias support for the Palestinians but also stressing the country must follow FIFA regulations, according to state news agency Antara. Do not link sports issues with political affairs, he reportedly said.

PSSI president Erick Thohir said he pleaded Indonesias case to FIFA president Gianni Infantino on Wednesday, which included showing him a letter from the Indonesian President....

Hundreds of social media users hit out at the use of the word "sanctity", given that Israeli forces stormed the site over two successive nights last week.

The Taromenane are one of Ecuadors Indigenous peoples living in voluntary isolation (pueblos Indgenas en aislamiento voluntario, PIAV), along with the Tagaeri, who live in the buffer zone of the Yasun National Park, located in the northeastern province of Orellana, in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Since the 1980s, confrontations provoked by the advancing activities of the logging and oil industries led to a massacre in which at least 60 individuals from PIAV groups were killed, and loggers and other workers were killed with spears. Buharism is dead, long live Buharism "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

Buharism, the social and economic outlook of Nigerias outgoing president, did not seek an alternative to neoliberal globalization, but sought to consolidate Nigerias place in it.

alt

In the wake of the hard-fought and widely unpopular presidential victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigerias 2023 presidential election, it is easily forgotten that the ruling partys initial triumph in 2015 seemed to represent the flowering of popular aspiration.

Bearing change as its campaign slogan, the party came to power in the first victory by an opposition party, with its presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari defeating Goodluck Jonathan of the incumbent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which had held power since Nigerias return to democracy in 1999.

But the APC seemed to represent change in more fundamental ways. The partys rise was propelled by popular protest against austerity policies, chief of which was the PDPs attempt to remove Nigerias fuel subsidy. Having overseen a period of commercial expansion, GDP growth, and intensified privatization of state-owned enterprises, the PDP, it appeared, had overplayed its hand in attempting to remove Nigerias meager but essential form of social welfare derived from the countrys vast petroleum resources.

When the PDP government announced a planned removal of the subsidy in 2012, prominent opposition party leaderswho only a year later would unite to form the APCjoined unionists, civil society groups, and youth activists in a nationwide protest. The ensuing general strike and #OccupyNigeria protests contributed to the downfall of the PDP government at the same time as social movements and political parties were challenging orthodox economic regimes across the globe.

Thus, seen as arriving in the wake of candidates such as Bernie Sanders and Jeremy Corbyn, and parties such as Podemos, and Syriza, who used popular discontent with austerity as a springboard to elected office, it is understandable that some observers hoped the APC could succeed in breaking with the assumptions of neoliberal technocratic management.

As such, Buharis victory can be considered a product of what has been called the end of the end of history,a period concurrently marked by the breakdown of the neolibe...

Why Chinas Winning and the US Is Panicking, With Gregory Mahoney "IndyWatch Feed World"

One of the most important topics going on right now in our world is, as the U.S. government likes to call it, the great power conflict between China and the U.S. To explore this topic, Lee Camp brings on a political science professor from Shanghai to break the issue down.

Dr. Joseph Gregory Mahoney of the East China Normal University joins us for an hour-long discussion on the reality of life in China, the decline of U.S. hegemonic power, Chinese foreign policy and economic development, the return of Cold War propaganda narratives, philosophy, and much more.

Mahoney is a Ph.D. and professor of politics and international relations who grew up in Alabama during the Cold War. He says:

Certainly, I think in some respects [the Cold War] is back in terms of what we saw towards the end of the Obama administration with the so-called pivot, what we saw accelerating with Trump and then even accelerating further with Biden.

The Obama-era pivot to Asia was a refocus of U.S. foreign policy away from its engagements in the Middle East and Europe toward gaining influence over countries surrounding China. Then, the Trump administration started a trade war with Beijing. Now, President Biden has continued Obamas encroachments into East Asia and Trumps tariffs while Congressional leaders like Nancy Pelosi make diplomatic visits to Taiwanese separatists.

China sees that the U.S. is trying to bait it into a war over Taiwan. We have experts and others who think, okay, this could happen in the next 2 to 5 years, says Mahoney. He goes on to explain the catastrophic potential of a war between the U.S., China, and their nuclear arsenals.

Mahoney has been living in China for 13 years. I worked for a think tank under the Central Committee there, in part of the party intellectual apparatus, he says about his career. China has changed a lot since his first visit in 1998. Around 850 million people have been lifted out of extreme poverty in the last 30 years, according to U.N. data.

Mahoney addresses misconceptions about China that are common in the West, including the idea that the Chinese political system is undemocratic and that China is an expansionist empire that wants to dominate the world.

After 100 years of colonial occupation, which the Chinese refer to as the Century of humiliation, the decline of U.S. hegemony and the rise of a multipolar world order gives the Asian superpower the opportunity to build diplomatic and economic ties with countries across the world and secure their independence from Western domination.

China feels very confident that they have not only reestablished their sovereignty but created themselves as a strong nation that can stand up for itself and advance the interests of its people, says Mahoney. He reiterates that the Chinese political system and its network of councils serve the Chinese people and allow them to take part in governance,...

Russia Launches Anti-VPN Scare Campaign to Support Its VPN Blocking "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

vpn-smVPN providers with any infrastructure in Russia have experienced problems for years.

Todays bottom line for anonymizing privacy services is that they must comply with Russias site-blocking demands and open up themselves up to scrutiny. Since the alternative is to break the law and face the consequences, many providers have pulled out of Russia completely.

In the wake of Russias invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, telecoms watchdog Rozkomnadzor stepped up its campaign against search engines. Demands to delist hundreds of thousands of VPN-related URLs from search results run alongside questionable requests to remove other content.

Despite renewed crackdowns on VPNs and Tor, it seems likely that Russia understands that short of blocking everything, blocking every VPN service and thousands of apps that constantly surface is impossible. As such, other methods are being explored.

Anti-VPN Scare Campaign

Public Service Announcements (PSA) have been deployed to nudge citizens in the right direction on genuine issues of public welfare for decades. Theyre also used to direct behavior in a way that benefits governments and corporations while making it appear that the interests of citizens are paramount.

Currently being spread via social media, the general premise of Russias anti-VPN campaign is that since no VPN service can be trusted with users private data, using a VPN is worse for privacy than not using a VPN at all.

The campaign is the work of ROCIT, which describes itself as a public organization that unites active Internet users in Russia. Funded by the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media (Minkomsvyaz), ROCIT issues advice on piracy, net neutrality and other internet-related issues, in line with government policy.

If you are a Mon Power or Potomac Edison customer, we need your voice now! Submit your comments to the West Virginia Public Service Commission opposing the Pleasants Power Station bailout before April 14th.

First Energy is scheming to keep Pleasants Power Station open by forcing it on ratepayers like you. Not only is it an out-of-date, coal-fired power station that was actually scheduled to close in 2019, but even First Energy acknowledges that the plant is expensive to operate. The worst part is that we dont even need the plant we have enough power being generated in-state already to meet our needs!</p> <p>First Energy has proposed that Mon Power and Potomac Edison customers pay more to keep the plant open another year while government officials decide whether the plant is to be permanently subsidized by ratepayers. If the plant doesnt operate during that year, most families bills will go up by about $36 a year but if the plant operates, bills will go up even more.</p> <p>The Pleasants plant can already sell power into a regional power market, where it has to compete with other power plants. But the plant is no longer competitive, and the plant is facing serious environmental liabilities. Apple released emergency updates to fix recently disclosed zero-day bugs on older devices "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Apple released updates to backport patches addressing two actively exploited zero-day vulnerabilities in older iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

Apple has released emergency updates to backport security patches that address two actively exploited zero-day flaws also affecting older iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

On April 7, 2023, Apple has released emergency security updates to address two actively exploited zero-day vulnerabilities, tracked as CVE-2023-28205 and CVE-2023-28206, impacting iPhones, Macs, and iPads.

Impacted devices include:

  • iPhone 8 and later,
  • iPad Pro (all models),
  • iPad Air 3rd generation and later,
  • iPad 5th generation and later,
  • iPad mini 5th generation and later,
  • and Macs running macOS Ventura.

The zero-day CVE-2023-28205 is a use after free issue that resides in the WebKit, its exploitation may lead to arbitrary code execution. An attacker can trigger the flaw by tricking the victims into loading maliciously crafted web pages. The IT giant addressed the flaw with improved memory management.

The zero-day CVE-2023-28206 is an out-of-bounds write issue that resides in the IOSurfaceAccelerator. The company addressed the flaw with improved input validation.

Apple addressed the zero-day issue with the release of macOS Ventura 13.3.1, iOS 16.4.1, iPadOS 16.4.1, and Safari 16.4.1.

Both vulnerabilities were reported by Clment Lecigne of Googles Threat Analysis Group and Donncha Cearbhaill of Amnesty Internationals Security Lab.

On April 10, 2023, US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) added the two vulnerabilities to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.

Today, Apple extended the security updates to the following devices with the release of iOS 15.7.5 and iPadOS 15.7.5macOS Monterey 12.6.5, and macOS Big Sur 11.7.6:

  • iPhone 6s (all models),
  • iPhone 7 (all models),

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, one of the closest US allies in the region, recently planned to secretly supply Russia with missiles, according to a purported leak of US intelligence documents.

Over the last couple of months, a trove of classified US documents has been posted on Discord, a chat app popular with gamers, in what has been described as one of the most serious leaks of US secrets in years.

One of the leaked documents reportedly also shows Russian intelligence officers referring to talks with the United Arab Emirates, another important US ally, in which they agree to collaborate against the US and British intelligence agencies.

In February, Sisi ordered the production of up to 40,000 rockets, instructing his officials to keep the plan secret "to avoid problems with the West", according to a top-secret document, reported by the Washington Post on Tuesday.

The document, dated 17 February, summarises alleged conversations between Sisi and senior Egyptian military officials that, among other things, reference plans to supply Russia with artillery rounds and gunpowder.

Europa Vernietigt Zichzelf (43) "IndyWatch Feed War"

First we must study how colonization works to decivilize the colonizer, to brutalize him in the true sense of the word, to degrade him, to awaken him to buried instincts, to covetousness (hebzucht. svh), violence, race hatred, and moral relativism; and we must show that each time a head is cut off or an eye put out in Vietnam and in France they accept the fact, each time a Madagascan is tortured and in France they accept the fact, civilization acquires another dead weight, a universal regression takes place, a gangrene sets in, a center of infection begins to spread; and that at the end of all these treaties that have been violated, all these lies that have been propagated, all these prisoners who have been tied up and interrogated, all these patriots who have been tortured, at the end of all the racial pride that has been encouraged, all the boastfulness that has been displayed, a poison has been distilled into the veins of Europe and, slowly but surely, the continent proceeds toward savagery.

BEST OF THE WEB: Russo-Ukrainian War: Pentagon Leak Biopsy "IndyWatch Feed World"

Comment: Long story short, they're probably legit. Russia-Ukraine War analyst 'Big Serge' explains why he thinks so... Another winter has ended, and spring has again arisen on the war in Ukraine. Amid the thaw and attendant mud, Russian forces - including the indominable Wagner Group - have pushed the Ukrainian grouping in Bakhmut to the brink, with the AFU now clinging its last defensive toehold in the city. Bakhmut has become the largest battle of the 21st century, and is now entering its climactic phase. Nevertheless, battlefield developments have been upstaged to some extent by the apparent leak of classified US military intelligence documents which provide a sweeping view into the inner workings of the Pentagon's war. I am not entirely clear on Substack's content policies as it relates to such documents. It is certainly too late for the US Government to contain the leak, as the images have by this point been shared, screenshotted, and downloaded countless times, but that does...

BBC goes into Antarctica climate meltdown - but ignores data showing no loss of ice "IndyWatch Feed World"

The BBC recently ran a story claiming that the Antarctic ocean currents were heading for collapse, and to drive home the scare there was even a reference to the 2004 climate disaster film, The Day After Tomorrow. Rapidly melting Antarctic ice was reported to be causing a dramatic slowdown in deep ocean currents, "and could have a disastrous effect on the climate". Like most of these fanciful scare stories, "could" is doing a lot of the heavy lifting work. But alas, missing from this Net Zero-promoting, model-inventing Armageddon tall tale was a note that the Antarctica ice cap appears to be in balance, and is not actually melting.

No NGO Has Been Allowed to See Julian Assange Since Four Years Ago "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Democracy Now has a brief interview with a representative from Reporters Without Borders (RSF) on their latest attempt to meet Julian Assange inside Belmarsh high-security prison in the UK. Despite being granted approval, the RSF secretary-general and executive director Christophe Deloire and the others with him were denied entry. No other non-governmental agency has been able to meet with Assange in the last four years either.

CHRISTOPHE DELOIRE: So, what happened is that in the past years we requested to be able to visit Julian in his jail. We got an approval recently, which was confirmed on March 21st with a number, an official number, for myself and my colleague, Rebecca Vincent, and we were invited to come to the prison.

And when we just arrived, the guy at the desk, when he saw my passport, he suddenly was very stressed, and that taking a paper on his office on his desk, and that read it, saying, "According to Article" I do not remember the number of the article, but according to this article, "you are not allowed to visit Julian Assange. This is a decision that has been made by the governor of the Belmarsh prison, based on intelligence that we had" I quote him "that you are journalists."

And it doesn't make sense at all, first, because, personally, I've been a journalist since 1996, and we were vetted, so it was never a mystery that I was a journalist, never a secret. Second, my colleague wasn't a journalist herself. And we came here not as journalists, but as representatives of an international NGO with a constitutive status in many international organizations. So it was really as Reporters Without Borders representatives, not as reporters covering the case. So, it doesn't make sense for this second reason. And there is a third reason for which it doesn't make sense, is that already two journalists, at least, have been able to visit him in jail in the past four years. So

Retired Welding Robot Picks Up Side Hustle as CNC Router "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Who says you cant teach an old robot new tricks? Nobody, actually. That saying is about dogs. But it applies to robots too, at least judging by the way this late-90s industrial beast was put to use in a way it was never intended: as a giant CNC router.

The machine in question is an ABB IRB6400, a six-axis, floor-mounted industrial machine that had a long career welding at a Eurorail factory in Austria before [Brian Brocken] made its acquaintance. He procured the non-working machine no word on what he paid for it and moved the 2-ton paperweight into his shop, itself a non-trivial endeavor. After a good scrubbing, [Brian] tried to get the machine started up. An error prevented the robot controller from booting; luckily, theres a large community of ABB users, and [Brian] learned that one of the modules in the controller needed replacement.

After fixing that and swapping out the controllers long-dead backup batteries, plus replacing the original 1.44 MB floppy drive with a USB drive he was able to bring the machine back to life. Unfortunately, the limited amount of internal memory made it difficult to use for anything complicated, so [Brian] came up with...

A cyber attack hit the water controllers for irrigating fields in the Jordan Valley "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

A cyber attack paralyzed the water controllers for irrigating fields in the Jordan Valley that are operated by the Galil Sewage Corporation.

A cyberattack blocked several controllers for irrigating fields in the Jordan Valley. The systems operated by the Galil Sewage Corporation monitor the irrigation process and wastewater treatment in the Jordan Valley.

The company experts spent the entire day recovering the operations, at this time the source of the attack is still unclear.

The management for both major systems was pushing all of Sunday morning to work through the issue and bring the systems back into full operation. reported the Jerusalem Post.

Local authorities were aware of the risk of a cyberattack and informed farmers in the region. Some of the farmers disconnected their irrigation systems from the Internet and switched them to manual operation.

The National Cyber Organization warned of the risk of cyber attacks that anti-Israeli hackers can carry out against national infrastructure during the month of Ramadan.

During the last week, private and government organizations in Israel were hit by massive cyber attacks that were part of the #OPIsrael campaign launched by hacktivists against Israeli critical infrastructure.

In November 2022, Ariel Stern, a former Israeli Air Force captain, warned that the US and Israel are still unprepared to defeat a cyber attack against the water sector that could be orchestrated by enemy states like Iran.

Stern highlighted the dangers for providers of critical infrastructure and issued his warning following the ransomware attack that in august disrupted the IT operations of South Staffordshire Water, a UK company supplying drinking water to 1.6M consumers daily.

The intelligence officer pointed out that nations like Russia, Iran, North Korea, and China have the capabilities to hit the water sector with dramatic consequences.

Expelled Tennessee Democrat Justin Jones is voted back into office less than a week after he was thrown out "IndyWatch Feed World"

Expelled Tennessee Democrat Justin Jones is voted back into office less than a week after he was thrown out | 10 April 2023 | A black Tennessee Democrat expelled from the state legislature for his gun control protest on the House floor has gotten his job back less than a week after he was thrown out. Nashville's governing council voted 36-0 to reinstate Rep. Justin Jones on Monday, four days after the Republican-led vote to oust him thrust him into the national spotlight. Republicans banished the two lawmakers over their role in a gun-control protest on the House floor in the aftermath of the deadly Nashville school shooting, which killed six people including three children. The other lawmaker, Justin Pearson, could be reappointed Wednesday by the Shelby County Commission.

Flawed count puts glorified Javan rhinos on path to extinction, report says "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

JAKARTA Every time a new Javan rhino calf is spotted, Indonesias environmental authorities issue an update of the precise population number for the near-extinct species. The rhinos entire population is confined to a single national park, filled with hundreds of camera traps that allow conservationists to monitor sightings of known, named adult rhinos as well as any new births. Since 2011, when officials started installing the camera traps, the government has reported steady growth from 35 to 72 individual Javan rhinos (Rhinoceros sondaicus). According to a new investigative report, however, the seeming precision of these numbers belies serious problems with transparency, poor management of the species, and indications that the population may in fact be declining. Among the key revelations in the report published April 11 by Indonesian nonprofit environmental NGO Auriga Nusantara is that 18 rhinos (nine females and nine males) that have not been spotted alive for years (some since 2019) are still included in the most recent population counts. Further investigation by Auriga Nusantara found that three of these 18 missing rhinos have died: one female in 2019 and a female and a male in 2021. None of these missing and dead Javan rhinos were publicly announced by either the agency that manages Ujung Kulon National Park or the Indonesian environment ministry. By contrast, the government has regularly publicized news of Javan rhino births, signaling a stable population growth. Its an unfair glorification from the government for not publishing these losses as well, Timer Manurung, theThis article was originally published on Mongabay

COVID Vaccine SheddingCanaries in the Mine "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

We are getting various related effects that we do not expect and whose biological pathways are obscure.  They are at least rare enough.  Still seriously unwelcome to encounter.

We know already that the JAB has caused a lot of serious damage to susceptable victims.  The rest, I am not so sure about.  And shed vaccine is likely low level and beyond biological risk

Yet it does appear that all who are vaccinated have decreased immunity function.  How long does this last and does it get worse?

The irony of celeberties dropping dead is not lost on anyone.

This whole thing went down malice aforethought and plausibly it is a CCP adventure.

Pfizer had confessed to the FDA in 2020 their awareness of spike protein shedding

Spike protein shedding. The media ignored it, people found out the hard way, and most no longer discuss it. But some symptoms remain.

Back in February 2022, I reported secondary vaccine shedding among patients in my naturopathic medical practice, as experienced by them throughout 2021. Pfizer had acknowledged to the FDA here that spike protein shedding from COVID-vaccinated people could occur by exhalation and skin contact. I wrote about that here.

An Introduction to the Book of John "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

This certainly makes rereading John much more satisfying.

It is astounding that we have the direct words of Yesua at all.  Yet while i am sure he wrote as needed, he did not write for actual distribution, but presented material in public while memorizers listened.  It was all planned and organized within the presepts of the day.  those memorizers were then awsome.

John clearly had intent, likely had other eye witness reports to hand and wanted to make his arguements which he did skillfully.  He had decades to reflect on what had happened and also witnessed the ongoing expansion of hte CHURCH.  He really wanted to get it right for us because he now knew it mattered.

Recall in his world Plato still matterred five centuries on.  Writing a gospel was not new.

An Introduction to the Book of John

The other three gospels are similar to each other; however, the book of John is unique

John tells us the purpose of the book (John 20:30-31) is to document the miracles and message of Christ so that people will come to believe in Him and have life in His name (eternal and sa...

This startup places tiny turbines in canals to generate power "IndyWatch Feed World"

The new iteration of hydropower replaces dams, which can cause major environmental damage.

Outside Denver, in a 9-mile-long canal that sends water to the local water treatment plant, small turbines spin as the water flows by. As they spin, they send energy to the water company so it can rely less on the electric grid.

"They are Driven by The Force of Borrowed Will, and Twisted by Monsters in Search of Ever-Greater Monstrosities." "IndyWatch Feed World"

Dog Poet Transmitting.......

I requested some Easter music this (Sunday) morning, it being Easter, and... no matter how I phrased my request, I was told that no such thing existed on Amazon. I couldn't get anything even from The Mormon Tabernacle Choir. There was nada except for elevator music and... some jazz. So... I said, well... how about something Satanic or Infernal. They had PLENTY of that.

I did get some Easter music though; metaphorically speaking. It's a kind of reversed Road to Damascus, BUT... not unwelcome, and... I expect to see a lot more of it shortly. Here is the first example; sent in by a close friend...

and... another perspective on the same thing from the same source. This fellow in the video; no longer with us... was once a Communist functionary. He's now doing the old soft-shoe to some hot-foot blues.

Meanwhile, I had to search a bit for provenance on this.

Summary: Were learning or becoming informed of some more crimes of Sirius Open Source (a company we left over 4 months ago); the video above explains that the company or its boosters (maybe shills) resort to intimidation tactics and threats (familiar tactics), having not just lost key staff (including the CEO) but also found itself unable to recruit

NOW that people are speaking out about what the company did to them even a decade ago I thought Id mention a bunch of old stories about what the company did to staff, clients, and suppliers.

The company may not last much longer (maybe weeks or months), pension providers have resorted to stalling tactics and lies (covering their own behinds), but we need to properly explain what happened, more so after Bill Gates had passed some money to the CEO under an NDA.

Whether Sirius was sabotaged or simply sabotaged itself is something for historians to decide. NDAs make its exceptionally hard to figure out what really happened.

Inside the Bitter Campus Privacy Battle Over Smart Building Sensors "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Inside the bitter campus privacy battle over smart building sensors:

"The initial step was to ... see how these things behave," says Herbsleb, comparing the Mites sensors to motion detectors that people might want to test out. "It's purely just, 'How well does it work as a motion detector?' And, you know, nobody's asked to consent. It's just trying out a piece of hardware."

Of course, the system's advanced capabilities meant that Mites were not just motion detectorsand other department members saw things differently. "It's a lot to ask of people to have a sensor with a microphone that is running in their office," says Jonathan Aldrich, a computer science professor,  even if "I trust my coworkers as a general principle and I believe they deserve that trust." He adds, "Trusting someone to be a good colleague is not the same as giving them a key to your office or having them install something in your office that can record private things." Allowing someone else to control a microphone in your office, he says, is "very much like giving someone else a key."

As the debate built over the next year, it pitted students against their advisors and academic heroes as wellalthough many objected in private, fearing the consequences of speaking out against a well-funded, university-backed project.

In the video recording of the town hall obtained by MIT Technology Review, attendees asked how researchers planned to notify building occupants and visitors about data collection. Jessica Colnago, then a PhD student, was concerned about how the Mites' mere presence would affect studies she was conducting on privacy. "As a privacy researcher, I would feel morally obligated to tell my participant about the technology in the room," she said in the meeting. While "we are all colleagues here" and "trust each other," she added, "outside participants might not."

Third Democratic lawmaker leaves party, switches to Republican within a month "IndyWatch Feed World"

Third Democratic lawmaker leaves party, switches to Republican within a month | 10 April 2023 | Democrats were dealt another blow from within their own ranks this week as yet another state lawmaker declared he was leaving the party. According to a Monday report by The Advocate, a Louisiana-based newspaper, state Rep. Jeremy LaCombe announced he had left the Democratic Party and would be registering as a Republican. It was not immediately clear what prompted LaCombe's departure; however, he is now the second Louisiana Democrat in less than a month to switch party affiliations, and the third nationwide after another state lawmaker in North Carolina did the same. Last month, Louisiana state Rep. Francis Thompson gave Republicans in the state House a supermajority after he switched his party affiliation, and earlier this month, North Carolina state Rep. Tricia Cotham gave Republicans in the state House a supermajority with her switch as well.
