Canada Cuts Funding for Palestinian Refugees Amid Crisis "IndyWatch Feed War"

Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) welcomes the renewal of Canadas funding to Palestinian refugees for the next four years, but is disappointed that the latest pledge represents a cut of $5 million annually. CJPME urges Canada to increase its funding to meet the needs of the current humanitarian and human rights crisis, and to complement its financial support with political support for UNRWA and Palestinian refugees on the international stage.

75 years after the Nakba and the creation of the worlds longest-running refugee crisis, it is time for Canada to finally commit to supporting Palestinian refugees, said Michael Bueckert, Vice President of CJPME. The Palestine refugee crisis began in 1948, when more than 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly expelled during the creation of Israel. Canada must bolster its funding to meet the needs of the current moment, and put its political support behind the rights of Palestinian refugees including their fundamental right to return to their homes, added Bueckert.

The Canadian government announced on Monday that it was pledging up to $100 million over the next four years to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the UN agency that provides services to 5.9 million Palestine refugees. Compared to its $90 million funding commitment over the...

Arming Ukraine is a cynical and dangerous NATO ploy, RT reporter tells UNSC "IndyWatch Feed World"

Western nations are pushing Ukrainian soldiers into suicide missions against Russian forces after providing them with outdated and often inoperative weapons, RT correspondent Chay Bowes has told the UN Security Council. The Irish journalist was among the speakers invited to address to the Council on Thursday, sharing his views on Western lethal aid to Ukraine and the related proliferation risks. The gathering was attended by ambassadors including Russian Permanent Representative Vasily Nebenzya and his UK counterpart Barbara Woodward. Bowes told the delegations that NATO nations have been helping Kiev to build up its military since 2014, training thousands of troops each year. He described the current hostilities as "a proxy conflict, where Ukraine supplies manpower... to support a de-facto NATO operation to prevent a Russian military victory". A defeated Ukraine would undermine the US-led military bloc itself, he predicted, which explains the escalation of arms supplies from the...

Police Brutality, Racism and Poverty Underlines Youth Rebellion in France

Macron government has deployed 45,000 security personnel in attempt to quell the outrage sweeping the country in the aftermath of the police killing of Nahel M

By Abayomi Azikiwe, Editor, Pan-African News Wire

Saturday July 1, 2023

Commentary

A 17-year-old youth of Moroccan and Algerian descent named Nahel M was gunned down by the French police on June 27 sparking a nationwide series of mass demonstrations and rebellions throughout the country.

Several videos released on the shooting show clearly that Nahel, who was driving a vehicle, was posing no threat to the police.

There were two other people in the vehicle with Nahel, one of whom has given evidence to the authorities while the third person is being sought by prosecutors. The policeman has been indicted for voluntary homicide. In addition, reports suggest he has apologized for the fatal shooting.

President Emmanuel Macron held a press conference on June 30 outlining the measures being taken to put down unrest which began in the suburbs of Paris and has rapidly spread to other French cities. He was joined at the press conference with Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne and Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin.

Macron had been attending a European Union summit in Brussels, Belgium when due to the unrest in France he was forced to cut his visit short and return to Paris. The headlines across the continent were filled with dispatches on the protests and violence obviously involving tens of thousands of young people who are prepared to battle the police in the streets. Reports on June 30, indicate that unrest has also spread to neighboring Belgium where EU Summit leaders discussed their plans to send even more military assistance to Ukraine to continue the NATO proxy war against the Russian Federation.

Over 1000 people have been arrested as youths took to the streets attacking private property and setting fires to government and commercial buildi...

Malaria confirmed in Florida mosquitoes after several human cases "IndyWatch Feed World"

Multiple mosquitoes gathered by authorities in Florida's Sarasota County have tested positive for malaria at a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lab, as the response has ramped up to stamp out further spread of the illness. Four locally-acquired cases of malaria were recently reported in Florida, along with one in Texas the first known instances of the mosquito-borne illness being transmitted within the U.S. since 2003. Three mosquitoes carrying the parasite that causes malaria were collected from the same woodlot, Sarasota County Mosquito Management Services told CBS News in a statement. They were among more than a hundred samples that have been shipped to the CDC for testing. Local authorities have targeted their eradication efforts in that area to wipe out Anopheles mosquitoes, the insect that spreads malaria, through spraying efforts from trucks, aircraft and on foot. "Efforts continue to test more Anopheles from all areas of concern as well as treatments," the...

France Erupts in Rebellion After Police Killing of North African Youth

17-year-old was shot at point blank range in the Parisian suburb of Nanterre

By Abayomi Azikiwe, Editor, Pan-African News Wire

Thursday June 29, 2023

Commentary

A young person was brutally shot to death during a traffic stop in the Paris suburb of Nanterre on June 27 prompting mass demonstrations and rebellions in various areas in France.

On June 29, thousands marched in Paris demanding an end to police brutality and institutional racism which people believe was the motivating factor in the death of Nahel M, a legal citizen in France of Moroccan and Algerian descent.

In France, many of the oppressed people communities exist in the suburban areas outside of Paris and other major municipalities. These neighborhoods are subjected to intensive police patrolling and surveillance. The suburbs are often predominantly composed of people of African and Middle Eastern descent who have direct and ancestral lineages among the Black and Arab peoples formerly enslaved and colonized by France.

A video of the actual shooting revealed that Nahel was sitting in a vehicle after being pulled over by the French police. As the video illustrates, the shooting was completely unprovoked.

The French national newspaper Le Monde wrote on the video saying:

The teenager was killed as he pulled away from police who tried to stop him for traffic infractions. A video, authenticated by Agence France-Presse, showed two policemen standing by the side of the stationary car, with one pointing a weapon at the driver. A voice is heard saying: You are going to get a bullet in the head. The police officer then appears to fire as the car abruptly drives off. (https://www.lemonde.fr/en/france/article/2023/06/29/policeman-charged-in-french-teen-s-killing_6039613_7.html)

Over a two-day period, French authorities said that 180 people were arrested on June 28-29 as people engaged in peaceful marches along with violent attacks on commercial and gove...

Chinese spy balloon shot down in February did not gather data over US, Pentagon says "IndyWatch Feed World"

The Chinese spy balloon shot down by a US fighter jet over the Atlantic in February did not collect intelligence as it flew across the United States, the Pentagon said Thursday. "It's been our assessment now that it did not collect while it was transiting the United States or overflying the United States," said Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder. Ryder said the US "took steps to mitigate" intelligence collection by the balloon. "Certainly the efforts we made contributed" to that, Ryder said, without further explanation.

Whats the Matter with the Liberal Press? "IndyWatch Feed War"

David Ignatius, a long-time Washington Post columnist on military intelligence topics, probably never dreamed his newspaper would fill over three full pages serializing his latest work of thrilling fiction, The Tao of Deception. On June 28, 2023, the Breaking news and latest headlines in the A section of the paper featured the first installment. Part II appeared today, Friday, June 30th.

Whats occurring at the Washington Post, the New York Times and big regional daily newspapers is a flight toward stupefying their material in a desperate plunge to retain readers print and online. Maybe surveys show a tsunami of aliteracy from the rising iPhone generations.

To adjust to digital age readers, the New York Times has replaced much of its content with gigantic photographs, graphics and other visuals, not just in its regular sections on style/arts, sports and food, but also in the daily news departments as well as the Sunday Business and Opinion sections.

The influential New York Times Editorial Page once featuring some fifteen or more editorials a week is now down to three editorials a week. Moreover, this space is now largely taken up by a handful of regular opinion columnists, many predictably redundant and tired. Imagine a historic newspaper intentionally diminishing its editorial advice to this country. There is no precedent.

It gets worse. Various forms of its daily features entertainment, sports and style/arts are given enormous space, while coverage of daily local and national civic activity is severely restricted. What used to be reported about the findings, litigation, lobbying and regulatory advocacy of national citizen groups in the nineteen sixties and seventies leading to major betterment of consumer, worker and environmental health and safety now is sharply curtailed. As a result, good members of Congress, seeing virtually no news coverage of vital citizen concerns, become indifferent to necessary public hearings and legislation essential to addressing the needs of the public.

Right-wing politicians have learned to game the vulnerable-to-sensationalism New York Times and Washington Post. Trump led the way in 2015-2016 with his presidential run. Most of his outrageous lies, deceptions and defamations were showcased by these two august newspapers. The Times would even reprint his tweets with their CAPITAL LETTERS verbatim without giving the falsely accused any right of reply. (Belated corrections by columnists could not keep up.)

This chronic tragedy has gotten worse in the last year. The Times can hardly resist making crazy politicians into Big Acts. The antics of switcheroo J.D. Vance was a regular news story, with huge photographs, while his Democratic opponent in prime position for the pivotal Ohio Senate race last year, Rep. Tim Ryan,...

Fighting Continues in Sudan as Humanitarian Crisis Worsens

Potential for foreign intervention exists as 2 million are displaced with hundreds of thousands fleeing across several borders

By Abayomi Azikiwe, Editor, Pan-African News Wire

Wednesday June 28, 2023

Geostrategic Analysis

In a recent report published by the South African-based Institute for Security Studies (ISS), an argument was made for the mobilization and deployment of an African Union (AU) peacekeeping force in the Republic of Sudan.

Since April 15, the two dominant military structures, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), have engaged in clashes aimed at eliminating each other as formidable fighting units.

Hundreds have been killed in direct combat while civilians caught up in the crossfire are perishing as well. Most of the municipal hospitals in the capital of Khartoum have been closed due to the dangerous atmosphere prevailing in the commercial and residential areas.

Government offices and foreign embassies are unable to function properly. Primary, secondary and higher educational institutions have been forced to shutter their doors.

Efforts aimed at brokering a permanent ceasefire in order to pave the way for talks on the future of the oil and resource-rich country of 47 million people have failed. The United States and Saudi Arabia, two major players in the internal politics of Sudan, encouraged the SAF and RSF representatives participating in the talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to declare temporary ceasefires primarily for humanitarian reasons.

However, these declarations of a cessation of hostilities for a few days have gained mixed results as people inside the country indicate that fighting has never stopped completely. The RSF militias have seized neighborhoods forcing people away from their homes. In retaliation, the SAF has attacked RSF-held positions often utilizing aerial bombardments.

The World Takes Action Together on Climate in Mid-September "IndyWatch Feed War"

The need for unified mass demonstrations in the streets calling for urgent action on the climate emergency, with a central demand that the race and class issues involved be a top priority, is off-the-charts needed now. Fortunately, a worldwide mobilization doing just this is coming together for actions September 15-17 in New York City and around the world.

Why those dates? Because on September 20 there will be a Climate Ambition Summit at the United Nations convened by the UNs Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres. The purpose of this summit, in his words, is to generate credible, serious and new climate action and nature-based solutions that will move the needle forward and respond to the urgency of the climate crisis. There will be no room for back-sliders, greenwashers, blame-shifters or repackaging of announcements of previous years.

These days of action will begin with youth-organized, Fridays for Future actions internationally. Fridays for Future began in August 2018 after 15-year-old Greta Thunberg and other young activists sat in front of the Swedish parliament every school day for three weeks, to protest against the lack of action on the climate crisis. Since that time, according to their website, 14 million people in 7,500 cities all over the world have demonstrated at periodic, Friday climate strikes.

On September 17 in New York City where the Climate Ambition Summit will be happening, there will be a massive March to End Fossil Fuels. As of this writing about 80 organizations have signed on with many more expected. The primary target of that march is the Biden Administration, which has been a very big disappointment to many people when it comes to the issue of climate ambition.

Here is how it is described on the March website:

President Biden can take breakthrough steps to end the fossil fuel era and build a just renewable energy future. He has the power to stop approving fossil fuel projects, phase out oil and gas drilling on public lands and waters, and declare a climate emergency to accelerate a just transition to clean energy run by and for the people. But so far, hes broken his campaign promises to lead us off fossil fuels and champion environmental justice. Instead, hes expanded fossil fuel drilling and production. Bidens approvals for new oil and gas projects are disastrous for the planet and disproportionately harm Black, Indigenous, low-income communities and communities of color.

Israel Cannot Rebut Apartheid "IndyWatch Feed War"

Samia Halaby (Palestine), Palestine, from the Mediterranean Sea to the Jordan River, 2003.

On 24 June 2023, Chief of Staff of the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) Herzl Halevi, Chief of Shin Bet (Intelligence) Ronen Bar, and Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai released a joint statement. They pointed to violent attacks by Israeli citizens against innocent Palestinians, which they characterised as nationalist terror in every sense. Such a statement is rare, particularly the description of the violence as nationalist terror and the rendering of Palestinian victims as innocent. Typically, high-ranking officials in the Israeli government portray such attacks as retaliation for terror attacks by Palestinians.

Three days before this statement, the US government said it had heard troubling reports of extremist settler violence against Palestinian civilians. Settler groups or, more accurately named, Israeli nationalist terrorist groups have been running rampages across the West Bank alongside the Israeli armed forces, killing Palestinians at will to sow fear in this part of Palestine and...

Enigmatic Anglo-Saxon ivory rings discovered in elite burials came from African elephants 4,000 miles away "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

Hundreds of elite Anglo-Saxon women were buried with mysterious ivory rings. Now, researchers know the ivory came from elephants living about 4,000 miles away from England. Enigmatic "ivory rings" found in dozens of Anglo-Saxon burials in England have long baffled archaeologists, who weren't sure of the rings' origin and which animal they came from elephants, walruses or mammoths. But now, scientific techniques have revealed that these rings likely came from African elephants living about 4,000 miles (6,400 kilometers) away, a new study finds. The finding indicates a trading network brought the objects from eastern Africa and across post-Roman Europe to England perhaps one of the longest trade route distances known from that time.

Century-old mystery of Antartica's 'Blood Falls' glacier finally solved, and the implications for planetary exploration "IndyWatch Feed World"

During the infamous Terra Nova Expedition to Antarctica in 1911, British geologist Thomas Griffith Taylor made a mysterious discovery at the rocky base of the glacier that now bears his name: a waterfall of what appeared to be blood. Discharged from beneath the ice at the glacier's tongue, the water emerges clear but then quickly turns crimson. For more than a century, this phenomenon that Taylor dubbed "Blood Falls" has captured people's imaginations and remained a scientific mystery until now. Using powerful transmission electron microscopes at Johns Hopkins' Materials Characterization and Processing facility, Ken Livi, a research scientist in the Whiting School's Department of Materials Science and Engineering, examined solids in samples of Blood Falls' water and found an abundance of tiny, iron-rich nanospheres that oxidize, turning the water seemingly gory. Gloves off Kiev regime henchmen targeted by Russian high-precision strikes "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Drago Bosnic | July 1, 2023

It has been approximately a year since Russia realized there can be no negotiations with the Kiev regime, with President Vladimir Putin recently revealing why this is the case. However, even then, Moscow had a sliver of hope this might change and that rationality of some sort might spring up in Kiev. Unfortunately, this proved to be nothing more than a reverie, as the Neo-Nazi junta clearly demonstrated its no more than a loose cannon.

Russias attempts to negotiate any sort of agreement with the Kiev regime werent only pointless, but were also used against it, virtually every single time. This also includes the grain deal that was used to transport weapons and munitions for the Neo-Nazi junta and then target civilians all across former eastern and southern Ukraine.

All this is even without considering the fact that nearly a decade of shelling of Donbass never stopped, with dozens of victims on a daily basis. Worse yet, for months, Kiev regimes top officials kept threatening to invade Russia and escalate sabotage attacks within the country. Its other lower-ranking members kept escalating the propaganda war against Russia to completely absurd levels, including fake reports about the Russian military supposedly raping children. Even years before that, the Neo-Nazi junta jeopardized itself and millions of regular Ukrainians by housing US-controlled biolabs that were financed and operated by the Pentagon. Hardly surprising for people who are completely unashamed to openly show admiration for ISIS.

Speaking of ISIS, it should also be noted that the Kiev regime used its tactics within Russia, specifically against prominent public figures. This includes not only Russian intellectuals (journalists, writers, philosophers, etc), but also their children, as demonstrated by the terrorist attack that killed Darya Dugina, the daughter of Russian philosopher Alexander Dugin. Then there was the case of Vladlen Tatarsky, a prominent military blogger and journalist who was killed in a terrorist attack that couldve killed dozens of other innocent people. This was followed by another terrorist attack that targeted writer Zakhar Prilepin, another eminent public figure in Russia, in addition to numerous other attacks.

Apart from terrorist attacks, the Neo-Nazi junta launched long-range strikes and sabota...

Lavrov Holds Briefing on Ukraine and BRICS "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov delivered his remarks in the wake of the recent Wagner rebellion, and discussed the prospects for peace in Ukraine, the fate of the international grain deal, as well as Westerns attempts to thwart BRICS expansion.

Lavrov states that Russia owes the West no explanation about the Wagner mutiny, and if the West has any doubts about Russias stability in the wake of the last weeks uprising led by Evgeny Prigozhin, the Wagner chief, then it would be more productive to open up bilateral dialogue rather than engage in rampant media speculation and propaganda. Also, the Wests schizophrenic bizarre position on peace negotiations in Ukraine by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken means that the Ukraine conflict are unlikely be resolved by diplomatic means. Lavrov pointed to numerous statements by Blinken himself and other Western officials who have insisted that peace negotiations can only start after Ukraine conducts a successful counteroffensive against Russia. This looks like a schizophrenic situation They say that everything will end in negotiations, but first Russia must be defeated. He also suggested that the West is secretly seeking to engineer a situation which might lead to a temporarily freeze the Ukraine conflict in order to buy more time in order to deploy new military infrastructure and provide Kiev with new lethal long-range weapons weapons which might surely escalate hostilities towards a world war. Moreover, humanitarian law violations by the regime in Kiev are precluding any diplomatic settlement in the short term. Russian foreign minister stated he had not seen a single fact of deliberate shelling of civilian targets by the Russian army, but noted that Kiev allowed mercenaries, Western generals and instructors to use civilian facilities to hold all sorts of meetings. Such actions, he insisted, stand in violation of international humanitarian law and amount to a war crime. If we discover such gatherings, for example, as in Kramatorsk, we will destroy them, because these are people who have declared war on us, he added. Moscow has been absolutely transparent in its efforts to protect Ukrainian children that had been caught in the midst of the fighting, Lavrov said. He added that Moscow does not try to hide the names and locations of the children that were taken to safe zones inside Russia. If those children have parents or close relatives, they have every right to pick them up, Lavrov noted, adding that this has already happened dozens of times.

On the grain deal being in jeopardy, Lavrov s...

EUs New Anti-Russian Asset Grabbing Scheme is Theft, Act of War "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Ilya Tsukanov Sputnik 30.06.2023

Hundreds of billions of dollars in Russian assets were trapped abroad in 2022 after the Ukrainian crisis escalated into a full-blown NATO-Russia proxy war. Earlier this year, reports in US business media indicated that the US and its allies were having trouble locating a substantial chunk of these funds.

Belgium plans to collect 3 billion euros a year in windfall profits from Russian assets frozen in the countrys coffers to give to Ukraine for reconstruction purposes, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo announced Friday.

We are working on a windfall tax on profits, De Croo told reporters after meeting with other EU leaders at the blocs summit in Brussels.

A day earlier, De Croo explained that Belgium was very involved in the issue because upwards of 90 percent of the Russian assets frozen in the EUs jurisdiction are trapped in Belgian banks.

The use of these funds for the military needs of Ukraine and its reconstruction makes sense from an economic point of view and from a moral point of view, the Belgian leader assured.

The European Commission estimated in May that the bloc has frozen over 200 billion euros in assets belonging to Russias Central Bank, plus 24.1 billion owned by Russian companies, tycoons and other individuals.

US business media first reported on the possibility of collecting interest from Russian assets trapped abroad to fund Ukraine earlier this year, after concluding that there was no reliable legal path to allow for the funds to seized outright without undermining rule of law and international trust in European financial institutions.

Robbery in Broad Daylight

Asked to comment on Brussels plans, Christopher C Black, an international criminal and human rights lawyer with over 20 years experience under his belt, said that if realized, they would constitute theft twice over first by seizing the money in the first place, and then preventing Russia from collecting its due interest.

The crime of theft becomes compounded with insult by giving the money to Kiev to finance the war against Russia, and if the money is so transferred by EU government order, it will be [an] act of war since a nation supplying financial support to another nation to carry on a war can be considered under international law as a party to the war, Black explained.

Very Painful for EU

Such theft would constitute a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter and the laws of war, and would undermine the rule of law in Europe, according to the legal expert, because if they can do this to Russia they can do it to any citizens assets...

Bidens Displays Stunning Ignorance Over SCOTUS Student Loan Ruling "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

American constitutional law scholar Johnathan Turley writes

The hypocrisy is stunning. Those words from President Joe Biden after his student loan forgiveness program was found unconstitutional were . . . well . . . stunning. Indeed, they may stand as the greatest example of transference in history.

Ever since President Biden first announced that he would unilaterally forgive roughly half a trillion dollars in student debt, many of us have noted that he lacked that authority under the Constitution. We were not alone: we had Joe Biden himself.

During the 2020 presidential election, Biden admitted that he needed congressional approval for such a massive loan forgiveness. Likewise, as cited in the opinion by Chief Justice John Roberts, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) stated the obvious: People think that the president of the United States has the power for debt forgiveness. He does not. He can postpone. He can delay. But he does not have that power. That has to be an act of Congress.

The problem is that he could not get this measure through Congress and, despite his earlier acknowledgment of the obvious, Biden simply claimed that he could give away hundreds of billions of dollars without congressional authorization.

He is now crying hypocrisy when the Court said he was right all along.

Of course, denial is a common defense mechanism, the unconscious forms of self-deception we use to avoid anxiety and emotional pain, or to ensure we are acceptable to others.

Transference is a common form of denial when a fact is admitted to, but the person will deny their responsibility.

However, in presidents, it is a costly habit.

From the outset, Bidens use of the...

Mastering Mechanical Stress: Key Considerations for Vibration Test Chamber Testing "IndyWatch Feed World"

When it comes to ensuring the reliability and durability of products, one crucial aspect is understanding how they respond to mechanical stress. Vibration test chamber testing is a powerful tool that allows engineers and manufacturers to simulate real-world conditions and identify potential weaknesses or flaws in their designs. In this blog post, we will delve into the fascinating world of this testing, exploring its significance, and discussing key considerations to master this process.

Understanding Mechanical Stress

Mechanical stress refers to the forces that act upon a material or product, causing it to deform or fail. In various industries such as automotive, aerospace, electronics, and many more, products must endure constant vibrations and shocks during their operational life. Vibration test chamber helps assess the structural integrity and performance of these products under such stressful conditions.

Importance of Vibration Test Chamber Testing

Simulating Real-World Conditions

Vibration test chamber replicates the vibrational forces and frequencies that a product may experience during its intended use. By subjecting the product to controlled vibrations, engineers can identify potential weaknesses and areas for improvement. It allows for a more accurate evaluation of product performance and reliability under realistic conditions.

Enhancing Product Reliability

By identifying design flaws or weaknesses early in the development process, a vibration test chamber helps manufacturers improve product reliability. It enables them to make necessary modifications to enhance the structural integrity and durability of their products, ensuring they can withstand the rigors of real-world usage. Ultimately, this leads to higher customer satisfaction and lower warranty claims.

Infectious disease is not a threat, says famous idiot "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called all of his friends together and opened his mouth. Its helpful to assemble a gang of like-minded people to encourage everyone to say exactly what they think without reservation, and oh boy, the stupidity flowed like water. Here are Kennedys colleagues: frauds, quacks, and morons, every one.

The panelists Kennedy included were, by anyones standards, heavy hitters in the world of anti-vaccine activism and health freedom (a movement which advocates for non-traditional cures and fewer regulations in medicine). They included Dr. Joseph Mercola, an osteopathic physician and an extremely influential natural health figure whos also a major funder of the anti-vaccine movement; Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, another osteopath and a longtime anti-vaccine activist best known for going viral when she falsely claimed COVID vaccines make one magnetic; Dr. Pierre Kory, a major promoter of ivermectin as an unproven and highly contested treatment for COVID; Sayer Ji, another major health freedom figure who often traffics in anti-vaccine claims on his site GreenMedInfo; Mikki Willis, the maker of the viral faux documentary Plandemic; Maureen McDonnell, a pediatric nurse turned anti-vaccine activist; and Patrick Gentempo, a former chiropractor and health freedom figure. The moderator was Charles Eisenstein, an author and lightly New Age-flavored motivational speaker who said hes paused his career and is working closely with Kennedy on policy, while the ending remarks were delivered by anti-vaccine activist and filmmaker Del Bigtree.

Even when the panelists disagreed, it was for stupid reasons and both sides got everything wrong.

There was one notable point of semi-disagreement: Mikki Willis of Plandemic fame asked Kennedy if he believed the climate change narrative has been exaggerated, a loaded question for someone best known for many years as an environmental lawyer and activist. Kennedy responded that he believes climate change is real, but that he does not believe carbon is to blame. He added that climate science is not his strong suit.

With vaccine science I know the science, he added, citing his experience litigating those cases. I know the science back and forward. Climate science is so complex and knows so many disciplines that hes not as strong on it, he added, especially because it requires mathematical modeling and chemistry. That said, he added, I think the climate narrative has been hijacked by t...

The first part of the clip features Trump stating at the GOP convention that he will do everything in his power to protect LGBTQ citizens. Even though his record in the White House did not reflect that at all, its tough to fault a candidate for saying it because thats kinda the job.

As president, you are supposed to protect all citizens, and its not as though LGBTQ Americans are breaking the law simply by not being straight.

The next line of attack in the video comes from highlighting that the Trump campaign website offers LGBTQ for Trump shirts. Again, thats a strange thing to criticize someone for who wants to be president of all Americans.

Also, lets face it, Trump will try to make money off of anything. He would probably sell Fellow Violators of the Espionage Act for Trump merch if there were a market for it.

Next up are a couple of clips featuring the former president saying that Caitlyn Jenner could use the womens bathroom in Trump Tower and that transgender women could compete in beauty pageants.

That might not be where the majority of the GOP is, but its hardly out of the mainstream.

US Intel trolls Putin and US analysts are collateral damage "IndyWatch Feed World"

A whole host of American analysts and commentators some reliable some not so much - are claiming that US intelligence stands behind the Prigozhin myatezh against the Russian military leadership (It was not a coup to seize power from Putin). The main piece of 'evidence' cited in such accounts is a news report from perhaps the least reputable but nevertheless influential media organ, CNN. The relevant sections in the CNN report of June 24th read: US intelligence officials believe that Yevgeny Prigozhin, chief of the private Wagner military group, had been planning a major challenge to Russia's military leadership for quite some time, but it was unclear what the ultimate aim would be, three people familiar with the matter told CNN. Intelligence officials briefed congressional leaders known as the Gang of Eight earlier this week concerning Wagner group movements and equipment buildups near Russia, two of the people said. US and Western intelligence officials saw signs that Prigozhin...

Marriage rate in US hits record low - poll "IndyWatch Feed World"

A quarter of US 40-year-olds have never married, up 5% from the previous census, Pew Research has found. Married Americans make up a smaller portion of the population than ever, according to a Pew Research Center paper published on Wednesday analyzing Census Bureau data from 2021. Fully a quarter (25%) of Americans aged 40 have never been married, the researchers found - a 5% jump since the previous census in 2010. Just 22% of the unmarried 40- to 44-year-olds were living with a partner outside of marriage. Individuals were more likely to have remained single if they were male, black, or had not graduated high school.

Australia is first nation to allow doctors to prescribe MDMA, psychedelics for PTSD, depression "IndyWatch Feed World"

Starting July 1, Australia will allow doctors to prescribe MDMA and magic mushrooms to treat PTSD and depression. It's a worldwide first that comes as research uncovers how psychedelic drugs have real potential for treating mental health conditions. "Australia is creating an interesting model that could pave the way forward for the rest of the world," Dr. Michael Alpert, a psychiatrist at Harvard Medical School, told ABC News. Comment: The West, perhaps, but it seems the multipolar world is at least, first, attempting to improve the lives of its citizenry. MDMA is a synthetic hallucinogen, often linked to rave parties, that's also known as "molly" or "ecstasy." According to the new rules established by Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration, MDMA can be prescribed only to treat post-traumatic stress disorder by authorized psychiatrists. Psilocybin, the active compound in magic mushrooms, will only be prescribed to treat depression that hasn't responded to other therapies.

Supreme Court hands religious freedom win to postal worker who refused to work on Sunday "IndyWatch Feed World"

Gerald Groff, a Christian mailman, said USPS should have accommodated his religious beliefs about work on Sundays. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled unanimously for a postal worker in Pennsylvania in an important religious liberty dispute, over how far employers should go to accommodate faith-based requests in the workplace. Gerald Groff, a Christian mail carrier, from Pennsylvania, asked the court to decide whether the U.S. Postal Service could require him to deliver Amazon packages on Sundays, which he observes as the Sabbath. His attorney, Aaron Streett, argued in April that the court should revisit a 50-year-old precedent that established a test to determine when employers should make accommodations for their employees' religious practices.

The Supreme Court on Friday ruled in favor of a Christian web design business who refused to design a website for a same-sex wedding, the latest in a series of decisions that expands the reach of religion in daily life. The ruling overturned a lower court's decision that Denver-area business owner Lorie Smith was not allowed an exemption from a Colorado law that prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Unprecedented How the Supreme Court Turned Back the Clock "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

In its history, the Supreme Court has gotten plenty of decisions horribly wrong. However, in most cases, these errors were later rectified when new justices issued rulings that reflected how society had evolved. The current court, perhaps the most political of all time, is doing the opposite.

As this term has shown, the six conservatives on the bench seem hellbent on imposing their archaic vision of the US on a country that has long since moved on.

Even worse, there is no recourse against the actions of these judicial tyrants.

To understand just how much of an outlier the Roberts court is, its worth looking at some of the worst Supreme Court decisions of all time and putting them into context.

There is no doubt which case tops that list.

In 1857, the Supreme Court upheld slavery in Dred Scott v. Sanford and ruled that African Americans could not be US citizens.

Even in the context of the time, that was a terrible decision in every way. It is possible that the court felt that settling the slavery issue at the expense of Blacks would prevent a civil war, which obviously didnt happen. But even that most charitable interpretation of that ruling cant mask how awful it was.

Dred Scott started a bit of a trend. Over the next century, many of the Supreme Courts worst decisions came at the expense of African Americans. For example, there were the so-called Civil Rights Cases, decided in 1883, which invalidated the Civil Rights Act of 1875.

Next came Plessy v. Ferguson with its separate but equal ruling, which upheld state-level segregation in 1896.

For generations, these rulings imposed countless hardships and injustices on African Americans, and they allowed racism to fester and be institutionalized.

Now, without defending any of these decisions, it is important to remember that they were products of their times as were the justices making them.

If, for example, Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, the decision that declared racial segregation in public schools unconstitutional, had somehow been handed down in 1896  instead of Plessy...

Element Africa: Ghanaian communities challenge mining regulation and Shell spills more oil in the Niger Delta "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

Anger over latest oil spill as Shell pipeline contaminates river and farms in Nigeria Nigerias National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) says an oil spill from Shells Trans Niger Pipeline, which passes through numerous communities in southeastern Rivers state, has extensively contaminated a river and stretches of farmland. The pipeline transports as much as 180,000 barrels of crude oil across Ogoniland, one of the countrys most polluted regions. NOSDRA said crude oil spilled into the Okulu River on June 11. Shell said it was working with a joint investigative team of regulators, residents and civil society to identify the cause and impact of the spill. Aftermath of a 2010 oil spill at Goi Creek, Ogoni. Nigel Farage Announces Hes a Victim of Financial Deplatforming "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Cindy Harper | Reclaim The Net | June 29, 2023

Former leader of the Brexit Party, Nigel Farage, alleges that he is facing what he describes as serious political persecution by the banking sector in the UK, claiming that the pro-Remain establishment is making a concerted effort to exclude him from the banking system. Farage asserts that this has made him contemplate whether he will be able to continue residing in the UK.

In a video released on Twitter, Farage shared that seven banks had turned down his applications for both personal and business accounts, making him feel like a non-person.

He stated that his bank accounts at an undisclosed financial institution, where he has been a customer for over four decades, were on the verge of being terminated without any explanation provided.

Farage posited three theories to explain why he believes the banking establishment is distancing itself from him. Firstly, he asserts that his role in championing Brexit has made him a persona non grata in the banking circles. The banks did not want Brexit to happen, Farage said in the video. The corporate world will never forgive me.

Additionally, Farage speculates that his political standing might be a factor. The politically exposed person protocol requires banks to conduct additional scrutiny on accounts held by politicians and their families to guard against the possibility of foreign bribery. Farage acknowledged the rationale behind such precautions but emphasized that the additional compliance burden for the banks should be commensurate.

Thirdly, Farage raised concerns about allegations that were made by Labour lawmaker Sir Chris Bryant in the previous year.

Bryant claimed that Farage had received a substantial sum of money, specifically 548,573, from Russia Today television station in 2018, an assertion that Farage vehemently denies. Farage stated, The truth is Ive never received any money from any sources with any link to Russia.

Disclosure, MKUltra and Beyond "IndyWatch Feed World"

An update here.  The enemy of science just happens to be secrecy of any kind and of course capital pools trying to turn any damn discovery to account for the so called managers who have always been about pretending to be an aristocracy.

Their failure was always inevitable.  A Genius can actually create new knowledge and even a fortune.  Problem is that he cannot actually produce a biological Genius to properly replace himself and certainly not generations away.  The successors kid themselves but soon turn out the stupid.

our education system does little better than produce knowledge workers utterly focused on some smokestack of knowledge with absolutely nothing to say about what all their colleagues know in way too many cases.  just what do you know about geology? or farming?  Or repairing machinary?  do you not think any of this is amportant?  how about accounting?  have you done any of this and why not?

Secrecy has made dark real knowledge on gravity manipulation, real knowledge on mind control, real knowledge on plasma physics.  Do you understand that my publication of Cloud Physics is completely new physics and no one properly understands any of it.  Yet it all changes everything and shows us how to manipulate gravity and ultimately how to even become almost immortal.  That matters and private interest secrecy has proven to be absurd top to bottom.

The Rule of Twelve can establish the size and scope of private interest on a case by case basis easily.

Money Supply Growth Falls to Depression-Era Levels for Second Month in April "IndyWatch Feed World"

Certainly this will correct our recent blast of inflation which has disturbed us all.  We are mostly talking about growth here and we can expect real estate price shrinkage in particular which is the quickest way to make lenders slow down on creating new money.

however they still need to book loans just to stay in business.  In canada we have progressively tighened lending up for sevaral years but it turns out that the supply of buyers is not shrinking just because we are adding families faster.  in fact this process has steadily improved the quality of the loan portfolio. even if it is a shack on a million dollar chunk of land.  someone always qualifies.

It may actually look like a runaway train, but the brakes are humming and it happens to be working for just about everyone.

We now do need to lead the world in showing how to do direct population growth as well.  then also end poverty as well.

Sustainability in Action: How LED Street Lights Reduce Environmental Impact? "IndyWatch Feed World"

In recent years, the world has been waking up to the urgent need for sustainable practices that minimize our environmental impact. One area that often goes unnoticed but plays a significant role in energy consumption and carbon emissions is street lighting. Traditional street lights consume massive amounts of energy and contribute to light pollution. However, there is a bright solution on the horizon LED street lights. In this blog post, we will delve into the fascinating world of LEDs and explore how they are revolutionizing the way we illuminate our cities while reducing our carbon footprint.

Energy Efficiency and Cost Savings

Source: youtube.com

LED technology has emerged as a game-changer in the lighting industry, and for good reason. LED street lights are highly energy-efficient, using up to 80% less electricity than traditional options, such as high-pressure sodium lamps. This incredible efficiency translates into significant cost savings for municipalities and taxpayers alike. By replacing conventional street lights with LEDs, cities can substantially reduce their electricity bills, freeing up resources for other important community initiatives.

Moreover, they have a longer lifespan compared to their traditional counterparts. They can last up to 100,000 hours, which is approximately 3 to 4 times longer than traditional systems. This longevity not only reduces maintenance costs but also minimizes the amount of waste generated from replacing bulbs and fixtures frequently.

Blind, Pitiless, Indifference "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Back from the dead folks.  Somehow someone found out who I was, and this prevented me from a job opportunity.  I feel persecuted.  I think I will eventually be open about my beliefs.  Not an easy thing living where I do.  Here is a post that is old news.  I think it is noteworthy because it is the latest attempt by apologists to keep God alive.  It is actually not that bad of an argument.

The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.  Richard Dawkins

I was in discussion with a believer who referred to Stephen Meyer, the intelligent designer.  Meyer believes that Dawkins quote actually makes his case for him.  Here is a quote from his new book.  Yes, I own a copy of his book on Kindle.  Why? Because I committed to myself to understanding all arguments.  Arguments are fun to analyze, especially if they are most likely wrong.

They have argued, as Richard Dawkins has done, that the universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose . . . nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.  But the evidence examined so far suggests the need to reassess such claims. That the universe had a beginning, that it was finely tuned from the beginning, and that our planet has experienced dramatic discontinuous increases in biological form and information since the beginning are not at all what proponents of a naturalistic worldview would most naturally expect. [Return of the God Hypothesis by Meyer]

I agree with Meyer that if framed like this, then Dawkins quote works for him and not against him.  But that is only if we accept his premises.  I think Dawkins was mainly referring to the problem of suffering anyhow.  Meyer says that if the cosmos had a beginning, then we cant use physical explanations to describe how something came out of nothing.  In other words, physics can only explain how matter and energy interact but not how they came into existence.  It must, according to Meyer, be something transcendent. Atheists at one point could claim that the cosmos was all eternalthat is, had probably always existed.  But most evidence now suggests that the cosmos had a beginning.  Of course, we do not have a detailed explanation of the origin of the cosmos.

Laws of nature describe how nature operates and how different parts of nature interact with one another; they dont cause the natural world to come into existence in the first place. This suggests the futility of waiting for the discovery of some new law of nature or a theory of everything. No law of nature can close the causal discontinuity between nothing and the origin of nature itself. [Return of the God Hypoth...

Violence Spiralling Out of Control in France: Massive Police Deployment Fails to Quell Burnings "IndyWatch Feed War"

Police stand by as material explodes in the Cite Pablo Picasso area of Nanterre, Paris

Oliver JJ Lane Briebart June 30, 2023

The French government is considering all options including a nationwide state of emergency after another night of violence which saw hundreds of arrests and injured police officers, and thousands of fires, including many symbols of the state including town halls, schools, post offices, and buses destroyed.

Some 40,000 police officers were deployed across France on Thursday night in an attempt to forestall a third night of violence triggered by the death on Tuesday of a delivery driver at the hands of a police officer in a Paris suburb after he refused to comply with a traffic stop. Yet the enormous show of force by the French state failed to prevent even greater levels of destruction.

Per Frances Le Figaro reports there were 875 arrests overnight nationwide, which saw protest and violence spread to urban areas across the country and even to neighbouring Belgium, the home of the European Union. Figures that underline the considerable scale of the attacks reveal there were some 3,880 fires set overnight, 249 police officers injured although none seriously and 492 buildings damaged.

Among those buildings damaged were several town halls and schools burnt out, reports state. Le Parisien cites the Interior Ministry to report 80 police stations were damaged overnight, 34 town halls burnt or otherwise damaged, 28 schools, and 57 other state buildings nationwide. Attacks on symbols of the state appeared so targeted even individual post-boxes were attacked. President of the French Republican Party Eric Ciotti posted footage to social media that claimed to show a French mayor being attacked by a mob as his car was set on fire.

In Marseille, two off-duty police officers were recognised out of uniform and were seriously injured in what has been described as a lynching.

Looting of businesses including gas stations, tobacconists, and apparel stores has also been reported. In one Parisian suburb, a truck was used to ram down the doors of a shopping centre so looters could access the stores inside.

While French President Emmanuel Macron has been criticised for being absent during the riots he even grabbed headlines for partying with Elton John on Wednesday night while French cities burnt he has now left a European summit early to return to Paris...

France riots: Government orders buses and trams to stop services by sunset "IndyWatch Feed War"

Introduction June 30, 2023

I dont know the full facts of the shooting and it is quite possible that the French police used excessive force.

However, the rioting and civil unrest in response to the shooting are now a regular feature of life in French cities. Although what may initially trigger the unrest varies, rioting, petrol bombs and widespread civil unrest are invariably the end result.

This is what happens when you cram too many people from many different ethnicities and cultures into a country without restraint. Its a formula for disaster. You are creating a society fraught with potential fracture points for future conflict.

I know, you are not supposed to say this sort of thing in todays woke world. But I come from a mixed race family so I can say this without fear of being accused of racism. We are witnessing a social disaster in the making.

It didnt happen by accident either. The liberal politicians who championed relaxed immigration policies in France and elsewhere knew exactly where it would lead. They were creating conditions where the principle of divide and rule would prevail.

This is what we see happening in Paris right now. Where President Macron and the servants of the ruling elite and the elite themselves are largely untouched by the unrest; shielded in exclusive neighborhoods and guarded by private security.

While the broad mass of the populace is left to contend with consequences of the divide and rule policy as best they can. Ed.

France riots: Government orders buses and trams to stop services by sunset

ITV News June 30, 2023

Frances interior ministry ordered the complete shutdown of all public bus and tram services by sunset, as the government combats rioting triggered by the deadly police shooting of a teenage boy.

The ministry said Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin issued the order after attending a crisis meeting Friday led by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Mr Darmanin instructed regional prefects who are under his command to shut down bus and tram services at 9 pm Friday, before it gets dark, everywhere across France, the ministry said. The Paris region had already announced such a shutdown to protect transport workers and passengers. It comes as the French leader blamed TikTok for fueling violence which has caused devastation across the country over the past three nights.

Protests erupted on Wednesday night after a police officer shot dead a 17-year-old delivery driver in the Parisian suburb on Nanterre.

Mr Macron is urging parents to keep teenagers at home to stop rioting spreading across the country.

Macron said social media is playing a considerable role in spreading unrest, after a second crisis meeting with senior min...

Records Destroyed of Starmer Trips to DC During Assange Case "IndyWatch Feed War"

Matt Kennard Consortium News June 29, 2023

  • Among his trips, Starmer, then head of Crown Prosecution Service, led five-person British delegation that met with Eric Holder for 45 minutes in Washington in November 2011
  • Delegation included the U.K. liaison prosecutor to the U.S., who dealt with extradition
  • Meeting was also attended by head of U.S. Department of Justices national security division
  • CPS refuses to clarify to Declassified UK if destruction of the Washington documents is routine procedure

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), England and Wales public prosecutor, has deleted all records of its former head Keir Starmers trips to the U.S., it can be revealed.

Starmer served as director of public prosecutions (DPP) from 2008-13, a period when the body was overseeing Julian Assanges proposed extradition to Sweden to face questioning over sexual assault allegations.

Starmer, who became an MP in 2015, is now leader of the Labour Party. Assange, meanwhile, faces imminent extradition to the U.S. to face up to 175 years in prison under charges mostly related to the U.S. Espionage Act.

While DPP, Starmer made trips to Washington in 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013 at a cost to the British taxpayer of 21,603. It was his most frequent foreign destination while in post. Max Hill, the current DPP, has made just one trip to Washington during his five-year tenure.

During Starmers time in post, the CPS was marred by irregularities surrounding the case of the WikiLeaks founder.

The organisation has admitted to destroying key emails related to the Assange case, mostly covering the period when Starmer was in charge, while the...

Like Halliburton in Iraq, BlackRock to Rake in a Trillion Rebuilding the Destruction They Financed in Ukraine "IndyWatch Feed War"

Matt Agorist Activist Post June 30, 2023

In the midst of a brutal conflict in Ukraine, two of the worlds financial titans, BlackRock and JPMorgan Chase, are seemingly leading the charge in an ostensible humanitarian effort. They are helping to establish the Ukraine Development Fund, a reconstruction bank designed to steer public seed capital into projects that can attract hundreds of billions of dollars in private investment. However, as those who are familiar with the words of Gen. Smedley Butler might ask, is this really an altruistic endeavor, or just another face of the long-standing war racket?

The echoes of Halliburtons billion-dollar contracts during the Iraq war are deafening. These corporations, the backbone of the military-industrial complex, have found a golden opportunity in mass murder. The strategy is as lucrative as it is grotesque: profiteering from death, destruction, and then the subsequent taxpayer-funded reconstruction of the rubble they helped to create all while maintaining a veneer of benevolence.

When we delve into the intricacies of the Ukraine Development Fund, the disturbing reality begins to surface. The World Bank estimates that Ukraine would need a whopping $411 billion to rebuild after the war. Here, BlackRock and JPMorgan Chase see a bountiful harvest. The roles they will play in leveraging taxpayer funds provide them with the potential for astronomical profits that would easily dwarf any of their alleged donated services.

The chilling parallels between Ukraine and the Iraq war are impossible to ignore. Halliburton reaped billions from no-bid contracts to rebuild what had been shattered by war. Tens of thousands of lives were lost, and a nation grappled with the fallout of a foreign intervention, while Halliburton and others cashed in on the chaos.

The more the dust of devastation settles over Ukraine, the clearer the profit margins become for BlackRock and their ilk. War and its aftermath create an ideal breeding ground for opportunistic corporate parasites. The brutal dance of destruction and reconstruction is a double-edged sword, inflicting deep wounds on humanity while filling the coffers of these corporations.

The financial giants noble facade of assisting Ukraine overlooks the brutal truth: the longer the war rages, the more they stand to gain. This harsh reality epitomizes Butlers assertion that war is a racket, with the likes of BlackRock, JPMorgan, and the broader military-industrial complex reaping significant profits from the suffering and despair of millions.

What we witness here is not just war profiteering but the transformation of war itself into a highly profitabl...

Seymour Hersh, Forbes, Financial Times, Economist, CNN On War In Ukraine "IndyWatch Feed War"

A Ukrainian serviceman in front of a 105mm howitzer near Bakhmut

Counter Currents June 30, 2023

Kievs inability to penetrate Russian defensive lines should serve as a wake-up call in Washington, veteran journalist Seymour Hersh warned on Thursday.

Citing battlefield statistics obtained from an unnamed source, Hersh claimed that Ukrainian forces have only managed to capture two square miles of Russian-held land over the last ten days of fighting. In the two weeks beforehand, he continued, the Ukrainian military took only 44 square miles of territory, much of it open land located before the first of Russias multiple defensive lines.

With Russia holding 40,000 square miles land that had previously been part of Ukraine, an informed official told Hersh that it would take Zelenskys military 117 years to reimpose Kievs rule over the territories.

The time has come for U.S. President Joe Biden to publicly acknowledge that the estimated more than $150 billion that his administration has put up thus far turned out to be a very bad investment, the veteran journalist concluded, adding that the looming disaster in Ukraine should be a wake-up call for U.S. lawmakers willing to hand Kiev billions of dollars in the hope of a miracle that will not arrive.

Ukraine launched its long-anticipated counteroffensive in early June, using German-made Leopard 2 tanks, U.S.-supplied Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles, and other Western hardware to strike at Russian positions along the front line from Donetsk to Kherson.

The offensive cost Kiev dearly, with the Russian Security Council estimating Ukrainian losses at 13,000 troops as of last week. Attacking through minefields and without air support, according to Moscow, Ukrainian forces have failed to overcome the multi-layered network of trenches, obstacles, and armored emplacements constructed by Russia since last year.

Seymour Hersh writes (PRIGOZHINS FOLLY, The Russian revolt that wasnt strengthens Putins hand, June 29, 2023):

The Biden administration had a glorious few days last weekend. The ongoing disaster in Ukraine slipped from the headlines to be replaced by the revolt, as a New York Times headline put it, of Yevgeny Prigozhin, chief of the mercenary Wagner Group.

The focus slipped from Ukraines failing counter-offensive to Prigozhins threat to Putins control. As one headline in the Times put it, Revolt Raises Searing Question: Could Putin Lose Power? Washington Post columnist David Ignatius posed this assessment: ...

Ukraines Zaluzhny Is Back And Asking For More Weapons "IndyWatch Feed War"

Moon of Alabama June 30, 2023

Last December the commander of the Ukrainian armed forces, General Valery Zaluzhny, talked with The Economist. He asked for more weapons which, he said, would allow him to throw the Russian forces out of Ukraine:

I know that I can beat this enemy. But I need resources. I need 300 tanks, 600-700 IFVs, 500 Howitzers. Then, I think it is completely realistic to get to the lines of February 23rd.

Some seemed to believe his talk. Following the request Ukraine received more or less all of what it had requested. Ukraine then loudly announced a counter-offensive but took several months before launching it. In the meantime it threw all available resources into a useless battle to hold onto the city of Bakhmut against the steady advance of the Wagner mercenary forces. That fight alone cost the Ukraine some 70,000 casualties. Meanwhile the Russian army engineers were building multiple reinforced defense lines which any counter-offensive will now have to overcome.

At the beginning of June, under pressure for the U.S., the Ukrainian army finally launched its counteroffensive. It was a dud. The Ukrainian troops entered the Russian security zone miles away from the real defense lines and immediately ran into mine fields and came under intense artillery fire. After 4 weeks of fighting they liberated some 50 square miles of open land and a few small settlements. This came at significant costs:

There were fewer than 50 men in the unit, he said, and 30 did not return they were killed, wounded or captured by the enemy. Five of the units armored vehicles were destroyed within the first hour.

For the first hour and a half of the 37ths assault near Velyka Novosilka, the Russians bombarded the unit with nonstop shelling that penetrated their AMX-10 RC armored vehicles, according to Grey, another soldier in the battalion who spoke on the condition that he be identified only by his call sign. The armored vehicles, sometimes called light tanks, were not heavy enough to protect the soldiers, Grey said, and had to be positioned behind them instead of in front.

Everyone expected that we would have some kind of support, but unfortunately, for some reason, there was none, Lumberjack said. His commander had little experience, he said, and had counted on assistance from artillery units. But he got confused when he saw that there was none.

At this speed it will take the Ukraine many years of fighting and an unlimited supply of weapons and men to kick the Russians...

Ukrainian generals killed in Russian strike MOD "IndyWatch Feed War"

Pizzeria in Kramatorsk that was damaged after a Russian missile hit the temporary intelligence centre of the Ukrainian Armed Forces 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade next door.

RT.com June 29, 2023

Two Ukrainian generals were killed in a Russian high-precision strike on the Donbass city of Kramatorsk on Tuesday, the Defense Ministry in Moscow said on Thursday, citing updated data.

The ministry had earlier claimed that the strike targeted the temporary base of the Ukrainian Armed Forces 56th Motorized Infantry Brigade. Since then, the ministry has added that the base was hosting a staff meeting involving dozens of Ukrainian officers and foreign advisers.

The attack resulted in the deaths of two generals, up to 50 officers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as up to 20 foreign mercenaries and military advisers, according to the Russian Defense Ministrys daily briefing.

The news came as Russian forces continue to repel Ukrainian attacks on their defensive positions in Zaporozhye Region as well as in Donbass. Ukraine has lost almost 800 servicemen in attempted assaults on various fronts over the past 24 hours, the Russian ministry claimed. It added that Russian forces had destroyed dozens of pieces of Ukrainian heavy equipment, including howitzers, armored vehicles and a tank.

Earlier this week, Kiev accused Moscow of striking a restaurant full of civilians in Kramatorsk, killing 11 people, including at least two children and injuring more than 60 others.

Ukraines security service, the SBU, said it had arrested a local resident suspected of leaking intelligence to Russia before the alleged strike. The agency also claimed that the goal of the strike had been to kill civilians.

Russia has denied the accusations, insisting that it only hits military targets.

The developments came as several Western media outlets reported that Ukraine has suffered heavy losses in its much-touted counteroffensive, which some allies are said to have assessed as unsuccessful thus far. On Thursday, Forbes described Ukraines losses as disastrous as it claimed Kiev had lost over 25 tanks and infantry fighting vehicles in just one attempt to cross a minefield.

The Financial Times reported on the same day that Kievs Western backers have warned that further funding and support will depend on the results of the ongoing offensive. General Christopher Cavoli, NATOs top commander in Europe, reportedly said last week that Russia was still enjoying the advantage of mass.

Sharecropping on Madison Avenue "IndyWatch Feed World"

In Mark S. Robinsons new book Black on Madison Avenue, he exposes the uncomfortable truth about the relationship between mainstream and multicultural agencies.

Sharecropping is a system where the landlord-planter allows a tenant (usually a poor, Black family) to farm the land in exchange for a share of the crops they harvest. This encouraged poor tenants to work hard to produce the biggest harvest they could, and it ensured they would remain tied to the land and unlikely leave for other opportunities. In many cases, the landlords would lease equipment to the tenants, and offer seed, fertilizer, food, and other items on credit until the harvest season. At that time, the tenant and landlord would settle up, figuring out who owed whom and how much.

Protestors Target Nationwide Insurance Over Their Connections to Atlantas Cop City Project "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Report on protest in Columbus, Ohio in solidarity with the ongoing struggle against Cop City in Atlanta, Georgia.

On the morning of June 29th a group of activists stormed the lobby of Nationwide headquarters, urging the company to stop insuring the controversial Cop City project proposed for Atlanta, Georgia. The group chanted, distributed flyers, and asked to meet with executives of the company before being escorted out by security.

Cop City is a $100 million police training facility proposed by the Atlanta Police Foundation. The project would involve clearing hundreds of acres of the Weelaunee Forest the largest urban forest in the country known and locally as the lungs of Atlanta. A wide ranging coalition of activists have been resisting the project for three years, with some camping out in the forest in hopes of delaying construction.

US Lawmaker Files Amendments to Ban Kiev-Bound Shipments of F16s, Long-Range Missiles "IndyWatch Feed War"

Sputnik 30.06.2023

WASHINGTON US Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said she filed amendments to the defense budget that would forbid the US from providing Ukraine with F-16 jets and long-range missiles and cut off all funding to Kiev until a diplomatic resolution to the conflict is found.

We should be pushing for peace, not funding war. I filed amendments to the NDAA [National Defense Authorization Act] that strip out all funding for Ukraine and prohibit providing them with F-16 fighter jets and long-range missiles, Greene said in a tweet on Friday.

The death and destruction must stop, so in order to achieve peace, I also filed an amendment to prohibit any and all funding to Ukraine until a diplomatic solution to the war is reached.

Earlier in the day, US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley said he is not aware of any decisions with respect to sending the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) to Ukraine, but noted that it is a continuous, ongoing process.

Citing officials with knowledge of the developments, American media reported on Thursday that the United States is close to agreeing to send ATACMS to Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskys top aide earlier this week said Kiev still hoped to receive the first supply of F-16 fighter jets in aid from Western countries by the end of 2023. Last week, US media reported, citing Western officials, that Ukraine could receive its first F-16 fighter jets from Western sponsors in early 2024.

A former Pentagon official told outlets that the Netherlands and Denmark could be among the first suppliers, but no final decision had been made yet.

Russia has slammed the possible delivery of F-16 fighters to Ukraine, warning that the jets will become a legitimate military target for Russian forces. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned that the delivery of F-16s to Ukraine will be a further escalation because the jets have a modification that makes them nuclear-capable.

After five months of strained ties, US admits Chinese balloon did not collect information "IndyWatch Feed War"

Global Times | June 30, 2023

After repeated hyping of the so-called Chinese spy balloon incident for nearly five months, the Pentagon on Thursday admitted the airship did not collect any information, not to mention send any data back to China. This is an objective result that should be welcomed, but it came too late, as the incident has damaged mutual trust, totally changed the environment for communication between China and the US, and caused the two sides to miss a better time to restore relations, Chinese experts said.

Analysis of debris collected from a Chinese balloon drifting into the sky over the US and shot down by the latter in February showed that it did not collect [any information] while it was transiting the US or over flying the US despite that it had intelligence collection capabilities, Pentagon spokesperson Brigadier General Pat Ryder told media on Thursday.

A Chinese balloon spent a week in February flying over the US and Canada before it was shot down by a fighter jet off the Atlantic coast, on orders from President Joe Biden. Although Chinese authorities reiterated that the balloon was a civilian weather balloon, some US media and hawkish politicians continued to hype it as a spy balloon, underscoring the increasing tensions between the worlds two largest economies.

In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a press conference on Friday that China has reiterated on many occasions that the Chinese civilian airship drifting into the sky over the US was an unintended, unexpected and isolated event caused by force majeure. Calling the airship a spy balloon and claiming it is used to collect intelligence is total slandering and smearing, Mao stressed.

Citing some anonymous officials, a Wall Street Journal report on Thursday claimed that the balloon was found to be carrying some American-made equipment helping it to collect photos, videos and other information. Ryder did not confirm the report on Thursday when he announced the result of the Pentagons analysis.

The Pentagons brief announcement on Thursday showed that the US, or at least the US defense department, is trying to close the chapter on the incident as it must have realized that the facts are slapping them in the face, L Xiang, a research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, told the Global Times on Friday.

We should welcome the move, but I have to say that it is far from enough. The US hyping damaged the basic mutual trust between China and the US and set a bad precedent in dealing with a foreign countrys civilian facility by using the military to shoot down the balloon. They should express regret for the decision,...

African Companies Should Prioritize Expansion of Intra-regional Trade in Manufactured Goods

By GNA

June 30, 2023

Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, a former Commissioner of the African Union Commission, has charged businesses in Africa to grow intra-continental trade in finished goods.

She said: We need to trade in our own goods so that in 50 years [when Agenda 2063 is due], we will be able to celebrate free trade and say, I can drive from Cape Town to Cairo and from Djibouti to Senegal.

Her call comes as the continent implements the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the largest free-trade area by number of member states, and a flagship project of the AU Agenda 2063.

Dr Dlamini-Zuma was speaking at a ceremony held by the Secretariat of the (AfCFTA) in Accra in her honour to championing the AU Agenda 2063 and gender equality.

Trade is not about raw materials; our colonisers did that and they continue to want to buy raw materials from us. Thats ill, and should stop. Its something we must work at and fast, she said.

Ninety per cent of our goods are transported across the Mediterranean. Who is in control of these processes? she quizzed, adding that this is something we must look at.

She explained that when raw materials were exported, it was the higher-level of jobs that Africa exported, leading to the export of revenue at the detriment of its people and development.

When we export raw materials, by the time its turned into a finished good, its probably 10 times or more expensive than the raw materials, and sometimes when they come back, most of us cant afford them, Dlamini-Zuma said.

She, therefore, urged businesses to shore up efforts to change such a situation, while encouraging governments on the continent to create the enabling environment for the success of AfCFTA.

On gender issues, the Minister for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities at the Presidency in South Africa, said that: Ou...

African States Urged to Heighten Sensitization on Artificial Human Reproduction Technologies

By GNA

June 30, 2023

Artificial human reproduction technologies

Professor Letlhowkwa George Mpedi, Vice Chancellor, University of Johannesburg, South Africa, has urged African state actors and policy makers to champion sensitisation and awareness on artificial human reproduction technologies.

He said artificial human reproduction technologies was a reality people were waking up to, adding that, they needed to be well informed to make the right choices and minimise risks.

Professor Mpedi said this when he made a presentation on Artificial Reproductive Technology: Ethical and Legal Considerations through an African Prism, at a Public Lecture and Book launch at the University of Professional Studies, Accra.

The Vice Chancellor said it was through improved sensitisation and awareness creation in the area that challenges and concerns could be addressed.

He explained that artificial reproductive technologies were methods of treating infertility and achieving pregnancy by artificial or partially artificial means.

He said artificial reproduction technologies represented new frontiers to addressing issues of infertility for those seeking alternative routes to conception.

Professor Mpedi said currently the area faced cultural and religious challenges due to uninformed perceptions people held and called for increased engagement with traditional and religious leaders to address those concerns.

He also called for ethical and legal regulation in the area to keep up with developments in the space.

While there are broad ethical frameworks in place, it is imperative that we get more specific as these technologies shift from theory to practice.

What is apparent is that as these technologies increasingly emerge, society needs to respond accordingly, he added.

Professor Mpedi also launched his book coauthored with Dr Theophilus Edwin Coleman titled, Labour Law in Ghana.

RESEARCHERS CALL FOR INCREASED EFFORTS TO STUDY AFRICAN MICROBIOMES

A recent study found that microbiome data sets from African ecosystems are vastly underrepresented compared to the global north's.

Kevin Brandt | 28 June 2023 16:13

CAPE TOWN - Scientific researchers have called for increased efforts to sequence and study African microbiomes.

Their study found that microbiome data sets from African ecosystems are vastly underrepresented.

The findings were published in the prestigious peer-reviewed science journal, Nature Reviews Microbiology, recently.

University of Pretoria's Professor Thulani Makhalanyane used the example of the coronavirus and explains that there are billions of other microorganisms that occupy every space on earth.

"So these microorganisms not only include viruses like COVID, but also include bacteria and fungi and other microscopic entities...so a microbiome is basically a term that describes microorganisms that occupy a defined space."

This space could be the human body, soil, water, and plants.

Makhalanyane added that studies on microbiomes have largely focused on the global north.

"If we don't know how African diet may ultimately affect the gut-microbiome and processes that happen in the gut, that means that we lack an understanding for instance on how things like the gut microbes may determine our susceptibility to newer, degenerative disorders."

CAPE TOWN - Heavy rains, strong winds and rare weather phenomena have wreaked havoc across the country over the past two weeks.

Storms in the Western Cape more than a week ago led to uprooted trees, rockfalls, mudslides, rivers bursting their banks, and at least two deaths.

Eastern Cape residents have also been posting pictures of streets covered in snow.

Some parts are still being hit by inclement weather amid recovery operations.

And forecasts are ominous, with the South African Weather Service issuing a yellow level 2 warning for disruptive snow over the Drakensberg and the Eastern Cape, including the areas of Molteno, Barkly East, Matatiele, and Lady Grey.

A yellow level 1 warning has been issued for damaging winds in parts of KwaZulu-Natal, where seven fatalities were reported this week. The latest in a string of cold fronts is hitting the Western Cape from Thursday.

Fredwitz on War "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

As this illustrious columncharges resolutely into the future, a few thoughts on geopolitical doings may, or for that matter may not, be of interest. Ill try.

Regarding the war in Ukraine, massively different  understandings exist. In   America and countries controlled by it, it is believed that Russia invaded without provocation to begin reconstituting the Soviet empire, the Ukrainians are bravely fighting to save their country, and eventually all of Europe and the West must give them the weapons they need to oppose totalitarianism. Friends of mine in Washington are  passionate about this and display Ukrainian flags in their yards.

Most of the world takes a far more favorable view of Russia, refusing to take sides, among them China, India, Mexico, almost all of South America, central Asia, ASEAN, the Arab world, and black Africa. Many countries continue trading with Russia. Recently 130 countries attended Russias Economic conference in St. Petersburg. Russia is a major source of grain, petroleum, gas, fertilizer, these wanted by much of the planet.

Further,, the Ukraine looks, from outside of the Usasphere, to be just another of Americas unending imperial wars. If you follow news from non-Western sources, you see that nobody believes Americas protestations about spreading democracy, fighting crime, promoting human rights, and so on.

Another reason, frequently mentioned in the international blogosphere, is the legacy of colonialism. conservative friends poopoo this, having no grasp of its emotional power. The countries supporting America against Russia are the former colonial powers. The countries declining to oppose Russia are those colonized. Many have been militarily attacked by the former colonizers: Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Libya. They have noticed this. In former times most of the world outside Europe has been invaded, occupied, and exploitedd. They remember.

The hostility is very real. Further, the Usasphere almost seems deliberately to encourage the animus. For example, recently a Romanian official  made what he apparently thought was a clever remark likening Africans to monkeys. This went viral. An African official, maybe Zambian, said in close paraphrase, The West enslaved us for centuries, and now they want to lecture us on human rights? One of the major hacks running Europe, I forget which, recently said that Europe was a garden and the rest of the world a jungle. This also went viral. Websites from Latin America often say ironically, Aqu en la jungla.

Outside of the New York Times and the wall Street Journal, students of geopolitics see the US as having deliberately promoted the current war. In 1991 when the USSR collapsed, there were 16 countries in NATO which immediately began expanding eastward in obvious military encirclement of Russia with, today, thirty-one countries....

China on Course to Reach Solar and Wind Power Goals Five Years Ahead of Schedule "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

Chinas central government has set a target of 1,200 gigawatts (GW) of utility-scale wind and solar capacity by 2030, but a new Global Energy Monitor (GEM) report says the country is set to double its current capacity and meet the goal five years early, a GEM press release said.

Prospective projects that have already been announced or are in construction or pre-construction  equal about 371 GW of wind capacity and 379 GW of solar capacity approximately the same amount as the currently installed operating capacity of China, according to the Global Solar and Wind Power Trackers.

This new data provides unrivaled granularity about Chinas jaw-dropping surge in solar and wind capacity. As we closely monitor the implementation of prospective projects, this detailed information becomes indispensable in navigating the countrys energy landscape, said Dorothy Mei, project manager at GEM, in the press release.

Almost all of the prospective capacity is included in the Chinese governments Five-Year Plan for 2021 to 2025. It is enough to expand large solar installations by more than 85 percent and to increase wind capacity worldwide by almost half.

Chinas prospective wind capacity is about one-fifth of the global total, and its prospective solar capacity is three times that of the United States.

China is rapidly and successfully scaling up its deployment of renewable power and has become the largest investor into renewables globally. This is both a cause and consequence of rapidly falling costs of renewable energy as compared to coal power,...

Tshidi Madia | 30 June 2023 20:59

JOHANNESBURG - Acting Public Protector advocate Kholeka Gcaleka has exonerated President Cyril Ramaphosa from any wrongdoing in the Phala Phala farm scandal but has found the police wanting in their handling of the 2020 burglary at the Limpopo farm.

Gcaleka made public her final report on the matter at her Pretoria office on Friday morning.

And while she absolved Ramaphosa of any wrongdoing, his head of security major-general Wally Rhoode, and presidential protection official Sergeant Hlulani Rikhotso, were found to have exhibited improper conduct in their handling of the investigation.

The Phala Phala report is one of 12 that Gcaleka has made public, including an investigation into claims of judicial capture laid by Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) deputy president Floyd Shivambu and Phapano Pasha against Ramaphosa, Justice Minister Ronald Lamola, and Gauteng Judge President Dunstan Mlambo.

Gcaleka told journalists the investigation into the controversial Phala Phala saga looked at three major issues around the president, which included whether he contravened the executive ethics code, acted in conflict with his oath of office, and if he abused his powers.

The Chapter 9 institution also investigated the conduct of the polices handling the Phala Phala burglary.

Gcaleka found there was no basis to conclude that Ramaphosa contravened the Executive Members' Ethics Act.

The acting public protector said there was no evidence to prove Ramaphosa was actively involved in the day-to-day operations at his farm, or even earned remuneration from it or Ntaba Nyoni, the private entity he is the sole director of which manages...

Lindsay Dentlinger | 30 June 2023 20:15

CAPE TOWN - Acting Public Protector advocate Kholeka Gcaleka said suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane only contributed to the Phala Phala investigation by sending President Cyril Ramaphosa questions based purely on hearsay.

Gcaleka cleared Ramaphosa of violating the executive members' ethics code.

It's taken a year for the Office of the Public Protector to complete its investigation with Mkhwebane claiming that her suspension was due to the work she had been doing on Phala Phala.

While Mkhwebane signed off the questions sent to the president, Gcaleka managed and oversaw the investigation as the acting Public Protector.

Gcaleka said the Chapter 9 institution only obtained Arthur Fraser's affidavit - which the investigation is based - on at a later stage.

"And I must say that at a time that these questions were signed off to the president they were based on hearsay evidence that the Public Protector did not have in her possession."

Meanwhile, there has been swift reaction from opposition parties to the release of the report.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has labelled it a whitewash with party leader John Steenhuisen insisting the president has abused power and special treatment by the South African Police Service (Saps).

Echoing the African Transformation Movement, the other political complainant in the matter Steenhuisen said the DA would also challenge the findings in court.

South African President Exonerated in $580k Farm Cash Theft Scandal

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa (R) speaks during a joint press

Africa News with AFP

South Africa's president has been exonerated of charges of misconduct and betraying the honour of his office in a burglary scandal that almost cost him his job last year, the country's ombudswoman announced on Friday.

The scandal broke in June 2022 when the former head of intelligence lodged a complaint accusing Cyril Ramaphosa of having concealed the theft in 2020 of bundles of dollars unearthed by burglars under the cushions of a sofa in one of his properties.

The police and the Ombudsman, Kholeka Gcaleka, launched investigations at the time. Mr Ramaphosa was also accused in the complaint of having bought the silence of burglars who had stumbled upon these sums, leading to suspicions of money laundering and corruption.

The Ombudsman, also known as the Public Protector, determined that in this case the behaviour of Mr Ramaphosa, 70, was not contrary to the Constitution.

"In the light of the standards imposed by the executive's code of ethics, there is no basis for concluding that the President has breached" the relevant provisions of the law, "including during the period following the alleged theft of dollars", Kholeka Gcaleka told the press in Pretoria.

The Office of the Public Protector is an independent institution, provided for in the Constitution, which must investigate and report any misconduct or wrongdoing within the government "without fear, favour or prejudice". It does not, however, have the power to prosecute.

Mr Ramaphosa has always denied any dishonesty in this affair, stating that the money, $580,000 in cash, came from the sale of buffalo from his farm.

Last year, a parliamentary committee found that he "may have committed" "violations and faults" in this affair. Parliament subsequently decided not to initiate impeachment proceedings, which could have forced him to step down.

Libya: Tripoli Denies Involvement in Drone Strike on Wagner Camp

In this photo released by China's Xinhua news agency, heavy smoke

Africa News with AFP

The Tripoli-based Libyan government on Friday denied any involvement in drone strikes against a base used by the Russian paramilitary group Wagner that had been reported by a military source in the eastern camp of the divided country, media reported.

The military source, who requested anonymity, told AFP that drone strikes "of unknown origin" had targeted the al-Kharrouba air base on Thursday evening, 150km south-east of Benghazi (east), where "elements of the Wagner group are believed to be based".

News websites attributed the attack to the armed forces of the UN-recognised government in Tripoli, whose legitimacy is disputed by the rival camp in eastern Libya.

"We are surprised by reports (...) of strikes carried out by our aircraft against a base in eastern Libya", said the Ministry of Defence of the government of national unity, quoted on Friday by the al-Massar channel.

"We are respecting the ceasefire signed in October 2020," it added.

"None of our aircraft has targeted any site in the eastern region," said General Mohamad al-Haddad, Chief of Staff of the armed forces in western Libya, quoted by Addresslibya.

This kind of information, he said, "aims to rekindle the war between Libyan brothers and involve Libya in a regional conflict".

Libya has been in the grip of a major political crisis since the Pentagon-NATO counter-revolution against Muammar Gaddafi's Jamahariya in 2011, undermined by divisions between East and West and continuing imperialist interference.

From April 2019 to June 2020, Khalifa Haftar, the strongman of Libya's eastern camp, used Chadian, Sudanese, Nigerian and Syrian fighters, but above all mercenaries from Wagner, in his failed attempt to seize the capital Tripoli.

This failure was followed in October 2020 by a ceasefire agreement, compliance with which is supervised by a military commission comprising five officers fr...

UN Security Council Ends Mali Peacekeeping Mission

The UN Security Council votes unanimously to end a decade-old peacekeeping mission to Mali, whose military junta urged the troops' removal

Africa News with AFP

The UN Security Council on Friday voted to end a decade-old peacekeeping mission to Mali, whose military junta urged the troops' removal as it aligns with Russia.

The Security Council voted unanimously on a resolution that will immediately start winding down the Minusma mission, started in 2013 to prevent a jihadist takeover.

The vote came two weeks after Malian Foreign Minister Abdoulaye Diop stunned the Security Council by calling the UN mission a "failure" and urging its immediate end.

Mali's relations with the United Nations have deteriorated sharply since a 2020 coup brought to power a military regime which also severed defense cooperation with France, the former colonial power.

The junta has aligned itself with Russia and brought in Russian military contractors.

"We deeply regret the transitional government's decision to abandon Minusma and the harm this will bring to the Malian people," senior US diplomat Jeffrey DeLaurentis told the Security Council.

But he said that the United States voted for the resolution as it agreed with the timeline for withdrawal.

Under longstanding UN practice, a peacekeeping mission needs the approval of the host country.

Video: Why Is There So Much Right-Wing Media? "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

So, this past December, conservative pundit Steven Crowder decided to start a fight with his fellow conservative pundits at The Daily Wire. Crowder claimed that the contract hed been offered was unfair, and too exploitative, and some of us had a nice little chuckle at the ultra-conservative propagandist discovering capitalist exploitation for the first time. Then, it turned out that the contract in question would have gotten Crowder $50 million, for his spiteful, bigoted drivel.

It really underscores just how much money there seems to be for right-wing media. Its no secret, by now, that a number of right-wing billionaires spend money on propaganda, but sometimes its easy to forget just how much money were talking about. Its also easy to forget that while hateful weirdos like Crowder, Dennis Prager, or Ben Shapiro may be some of the most obvious recipients of billionaire money, the problem is much more widespread:

Dangerous Heat Wave in U.S. and Mexico Made Hotter and More Likely by Climate Change "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

An oppressive heat wave that has been baking Texas in record temperatures is predicted to move north and east this weekend, bringing stifling heat and humidity to states from Missouri to Florida. The desert Southwest and central California are also expected to see dangerously high temperatures.

As of Thursday, at least 15 people in the U.S. had died from heat-related illnesses, reported The New York Times.

Temperatures are expected to rise to as high as 20 degrees hotter than the normal average in the South, at least through the weekend, with the heat index the combination of temperature and humidity climbing even higher.

When high humidity combines with oppressive heat, it becomes more dangerous. The body cant cool itself off as well by sweating, which is when heat exhaustion, cramps and heat stroke become a concern, especially for vulnerable people like young children, the elderly, individuals with some medical conditions and those who are pregnant. This is especially true when the heat index is 90 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.

In most of the U.S., there are no protections for workers toiling in the heat either outdoors or in buildings with no air conditioning, and during the latest heat wave in Texas, some decided to walk off the job.

When I came in, it really was so hot. I decided I need to go on strike. I told my co-workers because it is way too hot here and I knew they were all extremely hot as well, said Gloria Machuca, a former McDonalds employee in Houston, as a heat dome sat over Texas last week, as The Guardian reported. If we dont work, they dont make money. Theyre making money off our sweat and its not fair. Its time they truly value us.

The recent heat wave over the U.S. South and northern Mexico was made about five degrees Fahrenheit warmer than it would have been normally due to climate change, said Michael Wehner, a mathematics and compu...

A state district judge this week ordered the Texas Department of Public Safety to begin the process of releasing records related to the May 2022 Uvalde school shooting that the agency has shielded from the public for over a year.

The decision by 261st Civil District Court Judge Daniella DeSeta Lyttle marks a win for a coalition of news organizations, including ProPublica and The Texas Tribune, which sued the agency in August. The lawsuit sought the release of records that would bring more clarity to law enforcements failed response, including emails, video footage, call logs, emergency communications and forensic records.

The public deserves a full accounting of what happened that day, and were glad that the judge has begun that process, said Reid Pillifant, an associate attorney with Haynes Boone, a law firm that represents the news organizations. Were hopeful DPS wont fight this decision, and well begin the process of providing transparency.

DPS did not directly answer the newsrooms questions, including whether it plans to appeal the courts decision. In a statement emailed to ProPublica and the Tribune on Friday, a spokesperson for the agency said that the litigation is ongoing and that the department will carefully consider its options when a Final Judgment is entered.

Lyttle instructed DPS to submit a detailed list of redactions it wants to make to the public records by Aug. 31. The judge said that the court...

Key takeaways from Lavrov's press conference on Ukraine "IndyWatch Feed World"

The Russian foreign minister delivered his remarks in the wake of the Wagner rebellion... The situation in Russia in the aftermath of the Wagner uprising, the prospects for peace in Ukraine, the fate of the Black Sea grain deal, as well as Western attempts to thwart BRICS expansion, were among the topics Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed during a press conference on Friday. Russia owes no explanation about the Wagner mutiny If the West "has any doubts" about Russia's stability in the wake of the last week's uprising led by Evgeny Prigozhin, the chief of the private military company, "that's your problem," the minister said. "We are not obligated to explain anything to anyone, to give any assurances," Lavrov stressed, adding, however, that Russia has been very transparent about recent events. He reiterated that Moscow has always emerged stronger from various challenges it has had to overcome in the past, noting that the Wagner mutiny - which he described as "nothing more than...

Supreme Court strikes down Biden's student debt forgiveness plan "IndyWatch Feed World"

The Supreme Court on Friday blocked the Biden administration's student debt relief plan in a 6-3 decision, stopping more than 40 million borrowers from receiving loan forgiveness and delivering a major defeat to one of the president's key campaign promises. Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for himself and his five conservative colleagues, ruled that Congress had not authorized the executive branch to forgive the debts that are estimated at hundreds of billions of dollars. "The Secretary asserts that the HEROES Act grants him the authority to cancel $430 billion of student loan principal. It does not. We hold today that the Act allows the Secretary to 'waive or modify' existing statutory or regulatory provisions applicable to financial assistance programs under the Education Act, not to rewrite that statute from the ground up." The high-stakes decision will likely limit President Biden's options to deliver on his commitment to cancel $10,000 of student loans for low- and...

Ukraine suffered 'disastrous' losses in single offensive - Forbes "IndyWatch Feed World"

Kiev reportedly lost over 25 tanks and IFVs trying to cross a minefield in Zaporozhye... Ukraine's widely anticipated counteroffensive has seen Kiev's forces lose a significant amount of armor, including dozens of Western-supplied tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, Forbes reported on Tuesday. According to the outlet, analysts believe that an attempt by the Ukrainian army's 47th Assault Brigade and 33rd Mechanized Brigade to cross a minefield near the town of Malaya Tokmachka in Russia's Zaporozhye region on June 8 proved to be "even more disastrous" than previously thought. Despite deploying de-mining vehicles, including several Leopard 2Rs donated by Finland and one German-made Wisent, the Ukrainian battlegroup appears to have failed to clear a path through the minefield. The Wisent and three Leopard 2R struck mines, as did several US-supplied M-2 Bradleys, while the brigade came under fire from Russian artillery and aviation.
