Google "We Have No Moat, and Neither Does OpenAI" "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Interesting article relating to Google/OpenAI vs. Open Source for LLMs

Leaked Internal Google Document Claims Open Source AI Will Outcompete Google and OpenAI:

The text below is a very recent leaked document, which was shared by an anonymous individual on a public Discord server who has granted permission for its republication. It originates from a researcher within Google. We have verified its authenticity. The only modifications are formatting and removing links to internal web pages. The document is only the opinion of a Google employee, not the entire firm. We do not agree with what is written below, nor do other researchers we asked, but we will publish our opinions on this in a separate piece for subscribers. We simply are a vessel to share this document which raises some very interesting points.

We've done a lot of looking over our shoulders at OpenAI. Who will cross the next milestone? What will the next move be?

But the uncomfortable truth is, we aren't positioned to win this arms race and neither is OpenAI. While we've been squabbling, a third faction has been quietly eating our lunch.

I'm talking, of course, about open source. Plainly put, they are lapping us. Things we consider "major open problems" are solved and in people's hands today. Just to name a few:

Defending Freedom for the Future "IndyWatch Feed Politics.eu"

Der Zauberlehrling (1797) is the title of a famous ballad by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, a re-telling of an ancient Egyptian myth that was later put to music by the French composer, Paul Dukas, in his orchestral scherzo LApprenti sorcier (1897). The latter was chosen for the title of a text published in 1938 by the French writer, critic and philosopher, Georges Bataille, who adopted it to describe a lineage to which he saw himself heir, and which comprised the poets, writers and artists who, in both their lives and their works, sought what he called the totality of existence. As the names that carry this lineage testify, such an existence can only be reached through a violent loss of self. The Marquis de Sade was incarcerated by the French state for half his life; Francisco Goya was imprisoned by deafness for half of his; William Blake was dismissed by English society as a madman; Charles Baudelaire was prosecuted for his writings; Fyodor Dostoevsky was exiled to Siberia for his reading; Emily Bront, Edgar Allan Poe, Isidore Ducasse and Arthur Rimbaud all lived brief lives of wild desperation; Friedrich Hlderlin, Grard de Nerval, Friedrich Nietzsche, Vincent van Gogh and Antonin Artaud paid the ultimate price of their sanity. As a destiny, this is as far from the lures and rewards of art and literature as it is from the aims and influence of scientific or political practice. In opposition to which, Bataille advocated a return to the world of myth, in whose cyclical time he saw the plenitude of a total existence beyond the linear time of history. As distinct from the man of science, who comprehends a world of objects abstracted from the totality of the real, the man of fiction, who creates a dream world in its place, and the man of action, who seeks to transform the world on the basis of this comprehension and in accordance with dreams that invariably become the nightmare of history, this is the sovereign attitude of what Bataille, in this text, called The Sorcerers Apprentice.

It was with these lines that, in January 2008, I announced the publication of The Sorcerers Apprentice, a monthly periodical which explored the relationship between poetry and community. The format of each issue varied: an anthology of texts on a single theme; a new translation or contextualisation of a work by a single author; an extended reflection on different aspects of community; or the preparation for an event in which the theme of community would be explored in practice. These events typically took the form of a collective reading of texts, but also engaged in more complex and sometimes ritualised activity we ca...

Charter Schools Are Quintessentially and Irreversibly Private Schools by Design "IndyWatch Feed War"

Despite endless disinformation from charter school promoters that charter schools are public schools, they differ profoundlylegally, organizationally, fiscally, and philosophicallyfrom public schools. They are not the same. The dissimilarities are numerous by design. Calling them public 50 times a day does not spontaneously make charter schools public. Nor does receiving public funds automatically make charter schools public under U.S. law. In the U.S. legal system, several other criteria must be met before an entity can be called public proper.1

Unlike public schools, charter schools are governed by unelected private persons, cannot levy taxes, frequently cherry-pick students, are mostly union-free, spend millions on advertising, and regularly hire uncertified teachers.2 Currently, charter school laws in some states and the District of Columbia explicitly permit charter schools to not require any of their teachers to be certified, while other states allow charter schools extensive wiggle room in this regard. Charter school teachers, moreover, are treated as at will employees, meaning that they can be fired at any time for any reason. Likewise, charter school teachers are generally not considered public employees, which is why they do not have the same constitutional protections as their public school counterparts. Charter school teachers also generally work longer days and longer years for less money than public school teachers. Many charter school teachers also lack the retirement plans and benefits available to public school teachers. For these and other reasons, the turnover rate of charter school teachers (and students and principals) remains very high, thereby undermining collegiality, stability, and continuity, which in turn damages education.

Another important difference between public schools and charter schools is that charter schools are often owned-operated by large private corporations. Such businesses are notorious for gaming the legal system to maximize profit as fast as possible (e.g., through shady real estate deals and self-serving business contracts). Conflicts of interest are pervasive.

Importantly, as deregulated schools, charter schools are exempt from most laws, rules, statutes, policies, and regulations upheld by public schools. This is why they are considered independent or autonomous schools. Charter schools are not beholden to the authority of the public school district they are located in. They are typically authorized by charter school authorizers comprised of unelected private persons and they have to pay these entities large sums of money every year.

In addition, non-profit and for-profit charter school...

Exposed: Disturbing Details of New Pentagon Perception Management Office "IndyWatch Feed World"

Ken Klippenstein, an investigative journalist at The Intercept, has exposed how the Pentagon very quietly launched a new internal division, dubbed the Influence and Perception Management Office (IPMO), in March.

Its existence is not strictly secret, although there has been no official announcement of its launch, let alone an explanation from Department of Defense (DoD) officials as to its raison dtre or modus operandi. Its budget likewise remains a mystery but purportedly runs into the multimillions.

Pentagon financial documents from 2022 offer a laconic and largely impenetrable description of IPMO. The Office, it is said, will serve as the senior advisor to Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence & Security, Ronald S. Moultrie, on strategic and operational influence and perception management (reveal and conceal) matters:

It will develop broad thematic influence guidance focused on key adversaries; promulgate competitive influence strategies focused on specific defense issues, which direct subordinate planning efforts for the conduct of influence-related activities; and fill existing gaps in policy, oversight, governance, and integration related to influence and perception management matters. [IPMO]provides necessary support to National Defense Strategyto address the current strategic environment of great power competition.

Nonetheless, references to reveal and conceal and influence and perception management are tantalizing in the extreme. So too, is IPMOs position within the U.S. national security structure and the Offices acting director being intimately tied to the Pentagons spookiest operations.

Despite its low-key rollout, IPMO looks set to be a hugely influential new DoD agency in the future, waging ceaseless information warfare at home and abroad. What makes the new venture all the more sinister is that such capabilities are nothing new; the Pentagon has managed multiple similar, if not identical, operations in the past and continues to do so, despite significant controversy and public backlash.

Indeed, the DoDs official dictionary has a dedicated definition of perception management, linking the practice to psychological operations, which are defined as actions intended to influence the emotions, motives, objective reasoning, and ultimately the behavior of target governments, organizations, groups, and individuals:

Actions to convey and/or deny selected information and indicators to foreign audiences to influence their emotions, motives, and o...

Defending Ukraine - Listing Russian Military Equipment Destroyed By Bayraktar TB2s "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Stijn Mitzer in collaboration with Kemal, Dan and Jakub Janovsky

A list of Russian targets confirmed to have been destroyed or neutralised by Bayraktar TB2s over Ukraine can be viewed below. This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. In some cases this solely consists of footage that was recorded on the ground. In these cases, the use of an armed drone was reported by witnesses on the ground. In an effort to attract as little attention to its operations as possible, very little footage of TB2 strikes over Ukraine has been released. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed by TB2s is likely significantly higher than recorded here. Hits on strategic targets of which no footage is available (such as fuel depots struck in Russia) are not included in this list. The list will be updated as additional footage becomes available.

What can be done to save humanity from bad AI? Answer: True Open Source AI "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Since I dont work for any large companies involved in AI, nor do I anticipate ever doing so; and considering that I have completed my 40-year career (as an old man-now succesfully retired), I would like to share a video by someone I came across during my research into True Open Source AI.

I completely agree with the viewpoints expressed in this video (of which begins at ~ 4 mins into the video after technical matters). Additionally, I would like to add some of my own thoughts as well.

We need open source alternatives to large corporations so that people (thats us humans) have options for freedom, and personal privacy when it comes to locally hosted AIs. The thought of a world completely controlled by Big Corp AI is even more frightening than George Orwells Big Brother. I believe there must be an alternative to this nightmarish scenario.

A Russian man has died following a shark attack in the Red Sea on Thursday, Egyptian authorities said.

The incident happened off the Egyptian city of Hurghada. The victim was a man in his twenties who was a permanent resident of Egypt, Russian Consul General Viktor Voropayev told Russia's official TASS news agency.

"The victim was not a tourist but a permanent resident in Egypt," he told the agency.

A video shared on social media thought to be showing the incident saw a person struggling to escape a shark.

MEE could not independently verify the footage.

Egypt's environment ministry said the shark was captured and its examination revealed "abnormal behavior... which caused the incident".

It added that swimming and water games would be suspended for two days from Friday.

'Dragon boat water' lashes southwest China, shatters rainfall record - 24.2 inches in 24 hours "IndyWatch Feed World"

Non-stop heavy rain lashed parts of southwest China on Friday, triggering floods in some cities, engulfing roads and partially submerging buildings, with precipitation at a major port city shattering a national record. A particularly harsh first bout of summer rains known locally as "dragon boat water" saw Beihai in the Guangxi region log 614.7 millimetres (24.2 inches) of precipitation over 24 hours as of 5:00 a.m. (2100 GMT) on Friday, according to the region's weather bureau. That was more than a third of the rainfall seen in a typical year by the port city, and surpassed the national record of 552.5 mm seen by Zhengzhou in central China in a single day in 2021. In Beihai, cars were half underwater in flooded streets, and at one multi-storey building water cascaded down a staircase as firefighters raced to rescue its residents, videos circulating on social media showed.

DeSantis Says Weaponization of Federal Law Enforcement Mortal Threat to Free Society "IndyWatch Feed War"

Sputnik 09.06.2023

The weaponization of federal law enforcement in the United States is a mortal threat to a free society, Florida Governor and Republican presidential candidate Ron DeSantis said Thursday, following the news about the indictment of former US President Donald Trump.

The weaponization of federal law enforcement represents a mortal threat to a free society. We have for years witnessed an uneven application of the law depending upon political affiliation. Why so zealous in pursuing Trump yet so passive about Hillary [Clinton] or Hunter [Biden]? DeSantis tweeted, adding that the DeSantis administration will bring accountability to the DOJ [Department of Justice], excise political bias and end weaponization once and for all.

Earlier on Thursday, Trump said on Telegram that the corrupt Biden administration had informed his lawyers that he had been indicted in a federal investigation over alleged mishandling of classified documents at his Florida residency and summoned to appear in court on Tuesday. The ex-president expressed despair over the indictment, pointing out that he is being prosecuted as polls show he is by far the leading candidate among both Republicans and Democrats.

American media, citing sources, reported on Thursday that Trump was facing seven counts, including willful retention of national defense information, corruptly concealing docs, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and false statements.

US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said later in the day that it was unconscionable for US President Joe Biden to indict the leading candidate opposing him, adding that Biden kept classified documents for decades and calling the situation a dark day for the United States of America. McCarthy said House Republicans will hold this brazen weaponization of power accountable.

Trump has denied any wrongdoing in the classified documents case and the other three criminal probes he is involved in, including charges of falsifying business records and the former presidents alleged involvement in the events on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021.

Its not going great, in other words.

Heres his mission. Hes treading on Alex Jones toes!

What exactly happened on 9/11? Well, its still classified. How did Jeffrey Epstein make all that money. How did he die? How about JFK and so endlessly on.

Also, hes more like an Art Bell wanna-be. His big story was this one:

Yesterday, for example, a former Air Force officer who worked for years in military intelligence came forward as a whistleblower to reveal that the U.S. government has physical evidence of crashed, non-human-made aircraft, as well as the bodies of the pilots who flew those aircraft.

It was clear he was telling the truth. In other words, UFOs are actually real and apparently so is extraterrestrial life. Now we know. In a normal country, this news would qualify as a bombshell, the story of the millennium. But in our country, it doesnt.

He never did have a good handle on the truth.

Goodbye, Tucker. Even if you become popular again, it will be as a crackpot, a joke, a goofball on the fringe that everyone laughs at.

APOCALYPTIC SKIES: Images of New Yorks Delhi-esque ash orange skies dominated news coverage in North America, as smoke from wildfires in Canada engulfed vast swathes of the continent. Pointing to the unequivocal science that climate change significantly increases severe wildfire risks and heatwaves, the New York Times wrote that the worlds richest continent remains unprepared for the hazards of the not-too-distant future.

CLIMATE LINK: But its not as simple as blaming climate change, said experts quoted by Yahoo News. We will need to wait until formal attribution studies, said Carbon Brief contributor Dr Zeke Hausfather on his Substack. Carbon Brief has just published a detailed piece exploring the links between the fires and climate change.

Media reaction: Canadas wildfires in 2023 and the role of climate change "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

Hundreds of wildfires have been burning across Canada in what has been called an unprecedented start to the nations fire season.

Huge clouds of smoke from the blaze have blown thousands of kilometres down to the eastern US, shrouding cities such as New York and Washington DC in an orange haze and causing levels of toxic air pollution to reach record levels.

Scientists have been quick to make the link with climate change. The hot and dry conditions resulting from rising global temperatures are known to make wildfires more extreme.

Many US commentators said the fires should act as a wake-up call for climate action.

Meanwhile, the nations influential right-leaning media channels were quick to downplay the severity of the toxic smoke filling US streets.

In this article, Carbon Brief examines the role of climate change in the Canadian wildfires and how the media has responded.

What is happening with the wildfires in Canada?

In late April, forest fires began in British Columbia and Alberta, expanding to cover nine of Canadas 13 provinces and territories. While wildfires are fairly common in the countrys western provinces, fires have opened new fronts, spreading to the eastern provinces of Nova Scotia, Quebec and Ontario, according to ABC News.

Quebec has been particularly affected, with multiple being started by lightning strikes, ABC continues. As of Tuesday 6 June, there were around 160 forest fires, which displaced some 10,000 people in the province alone, it added.

The distribution of fires from coast to coast this year is unusual. At this time of the year, fires usually occur only on one side of the country at a time, most often that being in the west, Michael Norton, an official with Canadas Natural Resources ministry told Reuters...

Biden Regime Censors Disclosure Of 2020 Election Censorship Documents "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Didi Rankovic | Reclaim The Net | June 7, 2023

Censoring proof of censorship that would be a new low for the current US administration, but that is what newly released documents emails are now revealing as the inner workings of the Biden White House related to online speech, and what they say they consider to be misinformation.

The new documents refer to the time last September when some journalists and civil rights advocates wanted to probe the role of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in censorship on social sites a part of what is now widely considered collusion between various government agencies, and privately-owned tech giants.

But, it would appear that instead of being forthcoming about this information in the spirit of democracy, and also, since the cat was already out of the bag anyway the government, via the Department of Justice (DoJ) got busy trying to effectively sabotage these efforts, Lee Fang reported.

The method was to at least slow down the rate at which public records having to do with the authorities behavior were released to the public.

These latest revelations have to do with DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA), University of Washington (UW) professor and a CISA advisory panel member Kate Starbird, who also heads a disinformation outfit at the university (funded by the government), and requests from the Daily Caller News Foundation, Tech Inquiry, journalist Lee Fang, and the Government Accountability Project, all separately asking...

Marburg virus - Genocide or nothingburger? "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

Something to consider; If the vaxxxed start dropping in winter, the symptoms would be very similar to the Marburg virus. Rosie's Tactical Sandbag @DarnelSugarfoo Marburg is a hemorrhagic fever that kills the majority of the people it infects. Fortunately, no one in the United States has ever died from Marburg nor has any American ever been infected by the disease. The reason for this is not hard to understand. The virus is native to Africa and is transmitted to humans via monkeys and bats that live in that area. In other words, there is no evidence that Americans are at risk of contracting or dying from Marburg. Nevertheless, in December 2020, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issued a "Notice of Declaration" in which they stated the following: The recurrent but unpredictable and variable nature of Marburg disease outbreaks and the...

Belt and Road Credit Crunch Casts Shadow on China Lending "IndyWatch Feed War"

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), launched in 2013 by China, represents an ambitious effort to enhance regional connectivity and foster economic development. This multinational infrastructure project spans several continents, with China as the primary financier. However, with the BRI approaching its tenth year, Chinas foreign lending practices and bilateral debt negotiations are being closely scrutinized, influenced heavily by domestic industrial policies and the shift in its demographic structure.

a lil outpatient procedure, nice and easy "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

and I went back to the ER for a truly hellish experience shortly after midnight, not getting home until now at 5:00 a.m.

if u happen to have a CT scan after abdominal surgery and nobody tells you anything about the results, you might want to ask them if they saw blood in there. if they did, do not try to lay flat on your back for a few days at least.

it seems some loose blood from the surgery lapped gently against my diaphragm, triggering spasms that felt much like what you would imagine of a heart attack, only more violent.

kinda like my chest tried to rip itself apart, followed by spasms in a heart-sized area and seeming to follow a heartbeat, during which pain was truly extreme and breathing was not possible.

over the next fifteen minutes the spasms grew further apart and more faint until they stopped, but yeah, somehow I missed a few very important memos about possible side effects of this surgery.

i try to sleep now.

Washington is Recalibrating its Asia Strategy "IndyWatch Feed War"

Practitioners and commentators have long proclaimed Asia the new center of global geoeconomics. What happens in Asia matters to the world for two simple reasons. First, Asia is home to more than half of the worlds population, and two-thirds of the worlds economic activity occurs here. Therefore, Asia is the engine of global growth.

Asia is also not a beautiful garden with benign actors. It hosts seven of the worlds largest militaries in its geographical expanse. Thus, Asia is a contested space, home to a tapestry of nationalities and ethnicities. Unlike in Europe, nationalism is not taboo in Asia. Most Asian states have decolonized mainly in the last seven decades. They are aspirational and fiercely protective of their identities. The likely result is that Asian politics is dynamic and vibrant. Thus, apart from geoeconomics, Asia is also a critical theatre of geopolitics. Chinas rise has further complicated this geopolitical dynamic.

Given this recent churn in Asian geopolitics due to Chinas rise, the US is recalibrating its traditional hubs-and-spokes alliance system and augmenting the capabilities of its regional allies and trusted partners.

For long, Beijing was tight-lipped about its ambitions and sweet-talked its way through. Astute Chinese leaders implicitly sold the idea to the Americans that political liberty would be a natural consequence of economic reform. This was music to Washingtons ears. After all, the desire to mold others in your teflon is irresistible.

So after Nixons outreach to Mao in 1971, China quietly sided with Washington against the erstwhile Soviet Union. Former Chinese statesman Deng Xiaoping knew well that American capital and technology were the elixirs for Chinas economic transformation. Riding pillion with Washington would catapult its teeming millions from poverty to the middle class.

In retrospect, the strategy bore rich fruit. Western capital and Chinese domestic reforms and manufacturing smarts transformed China into a phenomenal economic powerhouse. Chinas economic sprint also emerged as an opportunity for other regional actors to develop their economies. Institutions like the ASEAN prospered under the twin benefits of the Chinese economic umbrella and American security shelter. This equilibrium of the US-China bonhomie acted as the base for regional economic prosperity.

However, like all great powers, Beijing now thinks its time has come. It wants to transform its economic muscle into political power. Therefore, Washington is recalibrating its A...

The dumbest way to secede "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Minnesota Republicans must be desperately bored. Theyve been steamrolled this year, so theyre itching for something to do. Somethingdestructive and stupid. So one of them has come up with an idea he calls The Rocks and Cows Act.

Representative Matt Grossell (R Clearbrook) along with fellow Greater Minnesota Representatives have introduced the Rocks and Cows Act. Members with districts along the affected borders have been especially supportive of this bill. This Legislation would create a State Boundary Adjustment Planning Commission to study and make recommendations on a pathway for North and South Dakota to annex desiring counties into their respective borders.

Its a novel strategy for secession well let the border counties nibble at the idea, defecting one at a time to North and South Dakota. It would certainly generate an interesting western border for the state! Those are counties full of rural hicks and MAGAts, so they might even go for it. I notice they arent proposing that northern counties have the option to secede and join Canada, though.

Economic relief and hearing the voices of rural communities are important goals of this legislation. As taxes continue to raise and decision-making gets centralized around the metro many are looking for some independence. We are standing up for the future of our families as Minnesota trends towards such extremes on tax and social policy. Said Rep. Grossell on the motivation for leading the charge on the Rocks and Cows Act.

The economic argument is total nonsense. These are all lightly populated farm counties, and are basically revenue sinks for the state. They pay fewer taxes than the benefits they get from being associated with the rich counties on the east side.

The real game here is resentment of social policies Minnesota respects gay and trans rights, and is protecting the right to abortion. Thats what the Republicans really hate. The Dakotas are nasty, conservative states with some of the most regressive policies in the country, so only a slimy troll would want to be part of that.

I notice that Grossell represents Clearwater county, which is not on the border (neither is Stevens county, where I live). Hes not going to disappear his constituents out from under his feet, and hed probably rather not have to commute to work in Bismarck. Hey, you want to be a North Dakotan? Pack up and move there.

Palestinian citizens of Israel have announced general strikes and protests against the Israeli police's "inaction" after a mass shooting left five people killed on Thursday.

The attack, which comes amid a record-high murder rate in Palestinian towns and villages inside Israel, is one of the deadliest crime-related shootings witnessed in the country in recent years.

More than 90 people have been killed in such shootings this year, compared to around 30 killed in the same period in 2022.

The High Follow-Up Committee, an umbrella civil society organisation representing Palestinian citizens of Israel, called for strikes and demonstrations on Friday and Saturday across Palestinian towns.

"We hold Israeli authorities fully responsible for the alarming increase in crime in our society, as it is the official body that bears the responsibility and has the ability to eradicate this terrible phenomenon," the committee said in a statement on Thursday.

The Trump Indictment Proves Beyond a Reasonable Doubt That the GOP Is a Cult "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

If you are wondering whether it is fair to compare todays GOP to a cult, look no further than Republicans reactions to the news that former President Donald Trump was indicted again (this time for mishandling classified documents, obstructing justice, and a smattering of other crimes, including a violation of the Espionage Act).

Almost as one, without knowing anything about the strength of the case, Republicans came to his defense even though there is good reason to believe that their blind faith in their leader is misplaced.

And these were not just somewhat cautious statements like: While these are troubling allegations, I have faith that, once the full story is revealed, Donald Trump will be exonerated. Given Trumps track record and what we know about this case, even that would be a somewhat bold thing to say.

But last night, Republicans didnt just cautiously go out on a limb for the former president; they jumped on a twig for him.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), for example, said it was unconscionable for a President to indict the leading candidate opposing him, which, of course, isnt what happened.

I, and every American who believes in the rule of law, stand with President Trump against this grave injustice, McCarthy tweeted. House Republicans will hold this brazen weaponization of power accountable.

The invocation of the rule of law is especially curious because the proper legal process is clearly being followed: Somebody does something that might be a crime, prosecutors gather evidence and present it to a grand jury, that g...

The Next Fiscal Crisis is Coming to Your Neighborhood "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

In this weeks WhoWhatWhy podcast, we talk with David Schleicher author of In a Bad State: Responding to State and Local Budget Crises.

Schleicher is a distinguished professor at Yale Law School and a nationally recognized authority on local government. Our discussion centers on the fiscal challenges that state and local governments are grappling with, particularly in light of the anticipated repercussions of the federal governments narrowly averted fiscal crisis and the desire of many in Congress to cut even deeper into federal aid to states and cities.

He notes that the past few years have been somewhat of a golden era for state budgets, buoyed by economic growth and substantial federal aid during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he warns that this period of fiscal prosperity may be ending. As the stream of federal aid starts to dry up and revenue projections take a downward turn, states could be facing significant budget shortfalls.

Schleicher reflects that collective short-sightedness is baked into the state-budgeting process: Politicians, responding to the immediate demands of voters, typically decide to spend now and pass any budget problems on to their successors.

Schleicher further explores the federal governments role in managing local fiscal crises, the costs associated with infrastructure and transportation, and the potential repercussions of political pressures and inflation concerns leading to cuts in federal aid, which could further exacerbate the strain on state and local budgets.

Schleicher warns of the potential for whats known as moral hazard in federal emergency aid to states and local jurisdictions. If politicians at these levels start to believe that they can always rely on the federal government to bail them out in times of crisis, they may be less motivated to save for emergencies. This dynamic, Schleicher suggests, could intensify future fiscal crises at all levels.

In response to these challenges, Schleicher urges the federal government to take a more proactive role in encouraging states to prepare for emergencies and make sound fiscal decisions. This could involve providing matching funds for state rainy day funds or implementing stricter oversight of state budgeting practices, especially in light of federal contributions.

Farming came to Africa 7,400 years ago with migrants from Iberia, ancient genomes suggest "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

A genomic analysis of ancient human remains from Morocco in northwest Africa revealed that food production was introduced by Neolithic European and Levantine migrants and then adopted by local groups. A research team from Sweden, Spain and Morocco present their results in Nature. In northwestern Africa, lifestyle transitioned from foraging to farming some 7,400 years ago, but what sparked that change remained unclear. Previous studies support conflicting views: that migrant European Neolithic farmers brought the new way of life to North Africa, or that local hunter-gatherers adopted farming practices. "We found a remarkable population continuity up until seven and a half thousand years ago in northwestern Africa, where a group of local foragers had been living isolated for at least 8,000 years, perhaps since much further back in time," says Professor Mattias Jakobsson, Uppsala University, who led the study.

Philippines evacuates people near Mayon Volcano, where more unrest indicates an eruption is coming "IndyWatch Feed World"

Philippine troops, police and rescue workers began forcibly evacuating residents near Mayon Volcano on Friday as its increasing unrest indicated a violent eruption of one of the country's most active volcanoes is possible within weeks or days. The area within a 6-kilometer (3.7-mile) radius of Mayon's crater is supposed to be off-limits due to possible volcanic emissions, lava flows, rockfalls and other hazards. But many poor villagers have built houses and tended farms in Mayon's danger zone over the years. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said an evacuation of residents from the permanent danger zone was underway and promised to provide aid to the displaced until the crisis ended. "Right now, what we are doing is preparing and moving people away from the area so that, should the time come, I hope it doesn't happen...we're ready," Marcos told reporters. "But unfortunately science tells us that may happen because the lid or the cap on top of the lava is slowly rising."

Erdogan's victory 'threatens Iran's interests'

The progressive Ham Mihan daily, in a series of interviews with analysts and foreign policy experts, raised the alarm over the potential negative consequences for Iran of the re-election of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Under the headline "Erdogan's gruesome dream", the daily examined Turkey's attempts to increase its influence in the region as well as its policies in controlling the water resources from the Tigris and Euphrates, two major rivers in the Middle East.

Analysts who talked with the daily argued that Erdogan would continue his regional policies to create a "New Ottoman Empire" and connect the Turkic countries, such as Azerbaijan, by land.

Ali Ziaei, an international transport expert, told the daily that linking Turkey to Azerbaijan through Armenia's southern province of Syunik would be one of Erdogan's main objectives in his new term in office.

"Turkey has been insisting on establishing the Zangezur corridor. This will happen through annexing Armenia's Syunik province to Azerbaijan, which would result in disconnecting Iran from its neighbouring northern countries," Ziaei said.

MISUNDERSTANDING MARX 2. "IndyWatch Feed Politics.eu"

Another critique of capitalism I came across recently revealed yet another common misunderstanding on the anti-capitalist and pro-capitalist left. After describing some of the climate and ecological problems faced by humanity the author suggested the necessity for a revolutionary struggle to implement the following;

.a model of socialism as one of sustainable human development.

Here we have the abstraction socialism articulated like some semi-religious incantation which ought to magically convince the reader to believe in its relevance without the need for a detailed definition. This is despite its use by fascists (as in National Socialism), Stalinists (as in Socialism in one country) and Maoists (as in Socialist China), not to mention, assorted Social Democratic socialists in various countries. In reality, rather than fantasy, there is no current accepted definition of socialism and the term was so elastic in the past that its use was practically meaningless. Indeed, the term was given up by Marx in the 19th century even before the totalitarian nightmare of Fascist socialism, and of course, the totalitarian Stalinist and Maoist socialist variants! If some people wish to resurrect the discredited and discarded idea of socialism, they should at least acknowledge and analyse its different historical manifestations and establish a convincing reason why the concept should not remain as an intellectual fossil to be studied by later generations.

Furthermore, the addition in the above quote of the phrase, sustainable human development still represents an anthropocentric and idealistic abstraction. What on earth does sustainable development actually mean? Can continuous development ever be sustainable? Yet however it may be further defined, it is still not a sustainable human development that should be the focus of present and future human activity. The actual problem humanity needs to solve is to ensure the sustainability of the whole, integrated, interdependent, ecological system of life on earth, not the already excessively privileged elite human section of it. This eco-system of life on earth, which prior to the creation of hierarchical mass society systems, had evolved as one inter-connected, inter-dependent life on earth system, consequently needs urgently to return to such a condition. However, it will not return to that dynamic balance between by implementing the following advice offered to humanity.

revolutionary struggle in these circumstances [that] will need to evolve in two phases. The first is an ecodemocratic phase in which there is a mass struggle to demand a world of sustainable human development. This goes over to a more decisive, ecosocialist phase of the revolutionary struggle.

The above summary, imagines the future solution to...

Jersey City Achieved Zero Traffic Deaths on Its Streets. Heres How They Did It. "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

(Source: Street Plans.)

Jersey City made headlines in 2022 when it accomplished what Vision Zero advocates have been championing for years: zero traffic deaths on city streets. For Mike Lydon of Street Plans, one of the city's longtime consultants, reaching zero was less a matter of luck and more likely evidence that the citys approach is working. That approach involved giving tactical urbanism a chance.

When Street Plans was first recruited by Jersey City in 2016, the former proposed bringing conversations about the streets to the streets. Street Plans convinced the city to permit community engagement by means of walking tours, pop-up parklets, and "tactical interventions." For Lydon, a celebrated urban planner and the firms co-founder, the advantage of this method was that conversations about street use and safety were thrust into the physical realm, rather than just the theoretical one. As a result, the public had the opportunity to talk about how to make changes, rather than whether to pursue them, at all.

Additionally, rather than concentrate pedestrian safety improvements in a single area downtown, Street Plans and Jersey City pursued interventions across six corridors, one in each of Jersey Citys six wards. In doing so, the city not only built trust across different constituencies, but was able to experiment with local calibration, rather than commit to a one-size fits all approach.

The lake, part of this 2.35-million-hectare (5.8-million-acre) conservation unit in the state of Amazonas, is fed by small blackwater streams, or igaraps, that branch off from the Rio Negro, mixed with the sediment-rich whitewater from the Rio Japur. Its home to a robust fish stock and, therefore, a large dolphin population. What the fishermen learned through observations at the start of the study was that the cetaceans enter and leave the lake through a narrow channel, so it was this passageway that they chose to close with a net. First we surrounded them, placed a net in the water and then slowly pulled it over to the edge. We removed them from the water one by one, so they wouldnt get hurt, says Antnio de Oliveira, a fisherman from Vila Alencar in the neighboring Mamirau Sustainable Development Reserve. We lifted them onto the land and put them on a stretcher. Then we put a tape around their mouth so they couldnt bite and carried them to the scales where the researchers took down their data. But this wasnt predatory fishing one of the factors that has placed the Amazon river dolphin (Inia geoffrensis) at risk of extinction, according to the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation and the IUCN, theThis article was originally published on Mongabay

Dreaming of democracy in Sudan "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

On this week's AIAC podcast, we discuss the roots behind fighting between factions of Sudans military.

For nearly two months, fighting has continued in Sudan between two factions of the countrys military governmentthe Sudanese Armed Forces, headed by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces, led by Lt General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.. Fighting has been concentrated in the capital Khartoum and Sudans Darfur region, with more than 1,500 people killed.

The conflict originated in Sudans 2019 revolution, when Omar al-Bashir, the countrys military despot, was ousted after 30 years. Thereafter, the military agreed to a power-sharing deal and transition to civilian rule (after massacring protestors in Khartoum in June 2019). But in October 2021, the SAF and RSF joined forces to depose Sudans interim civilian leader, Abdallah Hamdok.

The proximate causes of todays fighting stem from a dispute over integrating the RSF into Sudans security apparatus. Fundamentally, both sides see the other as an existential threat, a possible foil to their control of vast economic interests, such as gold and gum Arabic. The international communitywith its own interests in the Sudanese economyis also to blame, being overcommitted to the military factions as elite brokers of the transitional process. Excluded in all this are the Sudanese people. Joining the podcast to discuss the roots of the crisis and how ordinary Sudanese people are proving resilient, is Mahder Serekberhan. Mahder Serekberhan is a political science PhD student at Syracuse University. She is the vice chairperson of the Global Pan-African Movement, North America Delegation.

Simple injections would certainly speed up the Trap-Neuter-Release programs and injections are far safer, for the cat, than surgery. Both surgical neutering and this new injection provide permanent contraception in the female feral cats. And for your beloved tabby at home, the injection would probably be safer (pending more testing), and maybe less cruel, that surgery as well.

Following the Death of an 8-Year-Old on a Wisconsin Dairy Farm, Officials Look to Bridge Law Enforcement Language Gap "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Local officials in Wisconsin are planning to improve how sheriffs deputies communicate with people who dont speak English in response to a ProPublica report that found that an investigation into the death of an 8-year-old Nicaraguan boy living on a dairy farm was mishandled due to a language barrier.

Dane County supervisors said that their goals include making language access a key part of department equity plans and creating a dedicated countywide language-access coordinator.

The efforts come as the parents of the boy, Jefferson Rodrguez, have settled a lawsuit against the farm and its insurance company over the July 2019 death in rural Dane, about a half hour north of Madison. As ProPublica reported in February, sheriffs deputies wrongly concluded that the boys father, Jos Mara Rodrguez Uriarte, had accidentally run his son over with farming equipment.

But it was another worker, on his first work day at D&K Dairy, who had been driving the 6,700-pound Bobcat skid steer that crushed Jefferson, ProPublica found. The man had waited at the scene, expecting to be questioned, on the night Jefferson died. But deputies never interviewed him, in part due to a language barrier. ProPublica was able to reach him and he acknowledged he was driving the skid steer that night.

Jeffersons death was ruled an accident and nobody was charged criminally. But Rodrguez was blamed in the official account. Rodrguez and Jeffersons mother, Mara Sayra Vargas, who lives in Nicaragua, filed a wrongful death lawsuit in August 2020 against the farm and its insurer, Rural Mutual Insurance Company.

From Conflict To Conflict: Sudans Fighting Vehicles "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

By Stijn Mitzer and Joost Oliemans

The goal of this list is to comprehensively catalogue Sudan's current inventory of vehicles and equipment. In an effort to streamline the list and avoid unnecessary confusion, radars, trucks and technicals are not included in the list. Vehicles offered for sale by Sudan's Military Industry Corporation (MIC) that haven't entered service with the Sudanese Armed Forces and equipment (formerly) deployed with the Sudanese contingent deployed to Yemen but not owned by Sudan are not included in this list. If several configurations of a vehicle with one designation are known, they are added as such. Sudanese designations are not included to avoid confusion as these often consist of one designation that is used for several vehicle types. The part within the apostrophes refers to other designations or an unofficial designation. When available, the range (of rockets and missiles) are added.

UK court invokes Shamima Begum case in rejecting Saudi arms sales complaint

Campaigners and lawyers raise concerns over ability of courts to scrutinise government in cases involving national security

The High Court has cited a Supreme Court judgment which backed the UK governments refusal to allow Shamima Begum to return to the country in making its own ruling which found that British arms sales to Saudi Arabia were lawful despite war crimes concerns.

In both cases, campaigners and lawyers say judges have deferred to the government's position and tied the hands of those seeking to challenge it by relying on secret evidence heard in sessions closed to the public.

The High Court earlier this week rejected the challenge brought by campaign groups over the sale of British weapons to Saudi Arabia for use in its war in Yemen. The court's role, the judgment said, was limited to reviewing decision-making processes in government.

Decisions made by ministers assessing the risk that UK arms could be used by Saudi Arabia in the commission of serious violations of international humanitarian law in Yemen should "command considerable respect", it said.

Government decision-making surrounding arms sales, the ruling said, was "informed by diplomatic and security expertise which the Court does not possess", and had "parallels with making national security assessments".

"That expertise means that the Executive's assessments in this area are entitled to great weight," the judgment said.

Saudis snub US push on Tel Aviv ties, oil prices, Syria during Blinkens high-profile visit "IndyWatch Feed War"

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at a joint news conference with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on June 8, 2023.

Press TV June 8, 2023

Saudi officials have snubbed US Secretary of States latest push for the Kingdoms normalization of relations with the Israeli regime and his bid to win further concessions on oil prices and Riyadhs recent resumption of ties with Syria and Iran during his high-profile visit to Saudi Arabia.

Speaking in a news conference alongside Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in Riyadh on Thursday, the visiting Antony Blinken reiterated that Washington will continue to play an integral role in expanding normalization between the Tel Aviv regime and Saudi Arabia.

Blinken, who was in the kingdom as part of a US push to defuse rows that have touched on oil prices, and Riyadhs opening to Iran, further insisted that normalizing relations between Israeli regime and its neighbors was a priority for Washington.

The Saudi foreign minister, however, rebuffed his American counterpart, saying that the kingdom believes normalization of ties with Israel will have limited benefit without a pathway to peace for the Palestinians.

The Palestinian issue was and remains the central issue for Arab countries, and it is at the top of the kingdoms priorities, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had also underlined during the Arab League summit in Jeddah on May 19.

We will not delay in providing assistance to the Palestinian people in recovering their lands, restoring their legitimate rights and establishing an independent state on the 1967 borders with East al-Quds as its capital, he further noted at the time.

Blinken also reiterated on Thursday that Washington will not normalize relations with Syria and does not support other nations normalization of ties with the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

For his part, Prince Faisal defended the landmark decision to lift Syrias Arab League suspension, which came shortly after the start of the countrys foreign-sponsored conflict 12 years ago.

Syria made very clear commitments to address concerns of the international community, the chief Saudi diplomat said.

We have differences of opinion but were working on finding a mechanism for us to be able to work together, the Saudi foreign minister also pointed out during the press conference with the US secretary of state.

The Saudi foreign minister also highlighted that China and Saudi Arabia are close and strategic allies and have been increasing cooperation in the energy and financial sectors, and that cooperation is likely to grow.

The following video interview with Prof. Michel Chossudovsky pertains to the Confidential Pfizer Report released as part of a Freedom of Information (FOI) procedure.

The report is a bombshell. The vaccine was launched in mid-December 2020. By the end of February 2021, Pfizer had already received more than 1,200 reports of deaths allegedly caused by the vaccine and tens of thousands of reported adverse events, including 23 cases of spontaneous abortions out of 270 pregnancies and more than 2,000 reports of cardiac disorders.

This Confidential Pfizer Report provides data on deaths and adverse events recorded by Pfizer from the outset of the vaccine project in December 2020 to the end of February 2021, namely a very short period (at most two and a half months).

The data from mid-December 2020 to the end of February 2021 unequivocally confirms Manslaughter. Based on the evidence, Pfizer had the responsibility to immediately cancel and withdraw the vaccine.

Nato members may send troops to Ukraine, warns former alliance chief "IndyWatch Feed War"

Patrick Wintour The Guardian June 7, 2023

A group of Nato countries may be willing to put troops on the ground in Ukraine if member states including the US do not provide tangible security guarantees to Kyiv at the alliances summit in Vilnius, the former Nato secretary general Anders Rasmussen has said.

Rasmussen, who has been acting as official adviser to the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, on Ukraines place in a future European security architecture, has been touring Europe and Washington to gauge the shifting mood before the critical summit starts on 11 July.

He also warned that even if a group of states did provide Ukraine with security guarantees, others would not allow the issue of Ukraines future Nato membership to be kept off the agenda at Vilnius.

He made his remarks as the current Nato chief, Jens Stoltenberg, said the issue of security guarantees would be on the agenda at Vilnius, but added that Nato under article 5 of the Washington treaty only provided full-fledged security guarantees to full members.

The US ambassador to Nato, Julianne Smith, said: We are looking at an array of options to signal that Ukraine is advancing in its relationship with Nato.

Rasmussen said: If Nato cannot agree on a clear path forward for Ukraine, there is a clear possibility that some countries individually might take action. We know that Poland is very engaged in providing concrete assistance to Ukraine. And I wouldnt exclude the possibility that Poland would engage even stronger in this context on a national basis and be followed by the Baltic states, maybe including the possibility of troops on the ground.

I think the Poles would seriously consider going in and assemble a coalition of the willing if Ukraine doesnt get anything in Vilnius. We shouldnt underestimate the Polish feelings, the Poles feel that for too long western Europe did not listen to their warnings against the tr...

Russias #1 TV Personality Vladimir Soloviev is a Kabbalist, Zionist and Hates Russians "IndyWatch Feed War"

Rolo Slavskiy The Slavland Chronicles June 8, 2023

I have written about Vladimir Soloviev before, so I assume you know who I am talking about. The short bio, again, is that Vladimir Soloviev (real name Shapiro) runs the flagship political discussion show in Russia called Evening With Vladimir Soloviev.

Russian State Media Demands Igor Strelkov Be Imprisoned (Again)

Rolo Slavskiy 28 May

In many ways, Vladimir Soloviev really is the perfect avatar for the ruling elite in Russia. Like pretty much everyone who is anyone in Russia, he is half-lawyer and has the same rather eclectic or perhaps even schizophrenic political views, historical interpretation. A creature of the 90s spawned as a bastard child following Russias love affair with

After his return from America, Solovievs career in Russia has been meteoric. He appears to be friends with everyone who is anyone in Russia, and yes, that includes the big guy. Soloviev is comically short and short-tempered. He wears a Chinese outfit as part of his personality of being a Sun Tzu type Judo-Chess mastermind. The old timers are impressed by his high verbal IQ and performative ritual denunciations of Nazis.

In Western media, he is presented as being the voice of Russia.

We are Russians! God is with us!

Soloviev certainly has some choice words for Ukraine and the West, that is true. But then, so does any Russian patriot. I wonder: would you consider Bill Kristol an American patriot? The Kagans? Psaki? Blinken? The other Shapiro?

Why not?

If all you have to do is shake a fist at enemies abroad like Soloviev does, then by that criteria, the aforementioned names are diehard American patriots. You would think that I wouldnt have to explain this, but, according to the large Z-bloggers, Soloviev is a Russian patriot and the concept of a captured, lying, media is too difficult for them to understand when it comes to Russia that is,...

How Canadian wildfires are turning Climate Change into a public health emergency "IndyWatch Feed War"

Kit Knightly Off-Guardian June 8, 2023

Canadian wildfires are all over the headlines, but this latest dose of climate-related fear-porn is just another stage in a propaganda campaign aiming to pivot from covid to climate.

Now, first things first, lets discuss the fires themselves.

Forest fires, or wildfires, are a perfectly natural phenomenon and a vital part of the ecosystem, enabling fresh regrowth and putting nutrients into the soil.

They happened for hundreds of millions of years before humans existed, and will continue to happen long after weve gone the way of the Dodo.

Are these current fires especially bad? Or especially widespread?

We dont know. We DO know, from our coverage of the 2019 Amazon crisis, that the media has previously relied on manipulated statistics to make wildfires seem worse than they were.

We also know there are efforts to associate yearly forest fires with alleged man-made climate change, even when it is freely admitted that other factors are likely to blame.

We also know this story wouldnt be on the front pages if it didnt serve some agenda. So what IS that agenda? Whats the story behind the story?

Well, part of it is the air quality narrative.

Do you remember the Gas Stoves palaver from a few months ago? The Blues wanted to ban them and the Reds didnt, but the real story behind that story was a propaganda push to regulate indoor air quality: I wrote at the time:

I would suggest some new smart technology is coming that will monitor air quality and indoor C02 emissions. Like smart electricity and water meters, but for your air.

It turns out I was rightwell, actually the tech already existed.

Amazons Smart Air Monitor is connected to Alexa and sets off alarms if your air quality is poor. Of course, you need Alexa active to use it. Which means you need to agree to Amazon harvesting your data and listening in on your conversations.

In a handy piece of timing, the EU has launched its own...

EXTREMELY TOXIC AIR MASS OVER NORTHEASTWORST AIR ON PLANET EARTH RIGHT NOW. SEE LEGEND. IT SAYS HAZARDOUS! WORST AIR THERE IS TO BREATHE. ALL AIR TRAVEL STOPPED.

WERE SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE THAT 400 WILDFIRES JUST SPRANG UP ALL BY THEMSELVES IN CANADA AND ITS ALL DUE TO CLIMATE CHANGE? LETS GET REAL!

Are Canadian Wildfires Caused by Energy Weapons? Are UFOs Behind This?

https://healthimpactnews.com/2023/are-canadian-wildfires-caused-by-energy-weapons-are-ufos-behind-this/

Reader- The Northeast does not have wildfires, like the West does, and never had in recent history. I know because I grew up on the coast there. Not only that, the prevailing winds are SW to NE, almost continually, except for storms, and pretty strong in fair weather. So why is the toxic smoke mass not blowing out to sea? I submit the weather system is engineered to move and keep the smoke mass over the populace

Are these UFO sightings preparing the public for more military deployments of energy weapons of mass destruction that will then be blamed on invading aliens? And similar to UFOs being in the news back in February, here they are again today dominating the news cycle this week, in both the corporate and alternative news media, being the main story that Tucker Carlsons new Twitter show featured which went viral yesterday. Coincidence, or military propaganda preparing the public for what comes next?

According to Canadas Department of Natural Resources, fires have been occurring for thousands of years in the boreal forests of eastern Canada not exactly unprecedented. In addition, they call fire a primary change agent that is as crucial to forest renewal as the sun and rain -perhaps not a calamity either.

It appears that 2023 is on pace to be a year with unusually high numbers of fires. Yet the previous year was one of historically low numbers. The Canadian National Fire Database (2023) provides facts to dispute the idea of climate change-driven increases in fires in Canadian fires. According the CNFD, there has been a significa...

Georgias WEF puppet governor Brian Kemp rolls out digital IDs for all citizens "IndyWatch Feed War"

Leo Hohmann leohohmann.com June 7, 2023

Georgia recently became one of at least 12 states that is rolling out new digital ID drivers licenses, which of course is exactly what the globalists at the World Economic Forum have been clamoring for since the onset of their push for a Great Reset, where they basically digitize all of the basic functions in life, including the bodies of human beings.

Georgia joined the ranks of Arizona, Maryland and Colorado where digital IDs have already been implemented. Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma and Utah are also in various stages of getting their digital ID programs up and running. See the whole list here.

If you recall, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp was an invited guest at the annual meeting of the globalist, elitist World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in January 2023. He traveled to Davos on the Georgia taxpayers dime along with Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, a slew of BlackRock executives and other high-rollers. He felt real important and told CNBC that he was there to sell Georgia.

Well it hasnt taken him long to sell out his fellow Georgians.

Government officials working under the Kemp administration are using all of the globalist boilerplate talking points to encourage as many nave Georgians as possible to sign up for a digital ID containing biometric data so they can be tagged and tracked by the system. You know, the bit about it being safer, more secure and convenient.

Strangely, however, those same officials are having to include another bit of information. They are taking great caution to remind citizens that they need to keep their clothes on when submitting photos with their applications for a biometric digital ID.

The Georgia Department of Drivers Services reminded people in a June 6 statement to take pictures with their clothes on when submitting a Georgia Digital ID a new system introduced this month with the full support of Governor Kemp.

Please take pictures with your clothes on when submitting them for your Digital Drivers License and IDs, the department said in a Facebook post. Cheers to technology and keeping things classy!

My guess is, few if any Georgians were actually submitting naked pictures to the state Department of Drivers Services, but this is a great way to lighten things up and en...

The Devil is The Separated Mind Dancing Outside The State of Resonating Unity, Where Every Conflict is Resolved. "IndyWatch Feed War"

Visible Origami June 8, 2023

God Poet Transmitting.

Surely by now anyone who chooses to can see the evidence of spiritual warfare close up or at a distance or in some cases both. One can see it in the external sense. One can also see it in ones own mind where that applies.

Some of us have been fortunate enough over the course of a long haul of lives to shut down the wheedling threatening whining urging and cajoling menace of The Carnal Mind and its vehicle the unregenerate personality. Others still wrestle with The Beast. Most are less than blissfully unaware of it altogether. That will not last. Things change regardless of the level of ones resistance to that cornerstone of manifest existence.

I can only speak for myself. Perhaps the effect of conditions and forces are different for others. I have 3 sources for what I know; my own experience the legacy and records left by others and The Intuition. I have many sources for what I do not know brought to my attention by The Separated Mind.

What is the point of being rigorously and ruthlessly vigilant concerning the operations of The Separated Mind? It is because that is the force that empowers assumption as a defining source. The Separated Mind cannot possibly ever know certain things because it cannot detach itself from itself in order to assess and analyze itself. That has to occur from another level of perception.

Some things can only be known in Unity, and they cannot be spoken on unless the unity is broken for the purpose of discussion. There is little difference between the chattering of chipmunks and squirrels and the chattering of humankind. It all seems reasonable within the parameters of shared experience. Take it up a notch or two and it sounds like nonsense.

That is one of the valuable things that psychedelics taught me. You can learn things in altered states. Such experiences can be as valuable and illuminating as they can be dangerous and deceiving. What is true is that such insights can only go so far. This is something I have learned personally as a former psychedelic traveler of many many hundreds of excursions. There is a limit to what you can discover on mind-altering substances.

It becomes a looping process within boundaries that you can neither get through nor around. I did not want to learn that this was true. I had big investments there, but it was true and it is true. Certain levels and areas of perception are closed off to such intrusions. They can certainly be gateways to states of realization, but one must put them aside to go further on.

At every stage of transition, one must leave something behind in order to continue. Sometimes it is more than one thing. You cannot...

Demystifying Dedicated Servers: When and Why Businesses Should Consider Them "IndyWatch Feed World"

In todays digital age, businesses are increasingly reliant on online platforms to reach their customers and conduct operations. As a result, the demand for reliable, secure, and high-performing web hosting solutions has never been greater.

Dedicated servers have emerged as a compelling option for businesses seeking to optimize their online presence. In this article, we will explore the advantages of dedicated servers over shared hosting options, the scenarios where dedicated servers are most beneficial, cost considerations, security and data privacy benefits, customization options, downtime reduction, scalability and growth opportunities, their role in supporting e-commerce platforms, and a comparison to cloud hosting.

By the end of this article, you will have a clear understanding of the key factors to consider when deciding on dedicated servers for your business.

Advantages of Dedicated Servers over Shared Hosting Options

Source: pcmag.com

When it comes to web hosting, businesses typically have two options: shared hosting or dedicated servers. Shared hosting involves sharing channel resources with multiple websites, which can lead to slower performance and limited control. Reliable channels, on the other hand, provide exclusive access to a physical server, ensuring optimal performance, enhanced security, and greater flexibility.

With trustworthy channels, businesses have full control over configurations, allowing them to customize the environment to meet their specific requirements. This level of control and performance is especially crucial for resource-intensive applications and websites with hi...

Why NATO-Trained Armies Lose Wars And Why Ukraine's Criminal Leaders Should Beg For Mercy "IndyWatch Feed War"

NATO excels at psychological warfare operations and clandestine terrorism. They win wars on television. Their main battlefields are the global airwaves and the minds of men.

But Ukraine will soon learn, as Afghanistan eventually did, NATO is not any good at actually fighting.

If Ukraine fought alone, without any NATO assistance, it would have a greater chance of defeating Russia.

There is no greater shame for a nation than to be used as a proxy in a larger war. Such an indignity has fallen on noble Ukraine. Almost a decade ago its sovereignty and national mind were illegally captured by the evil pedophiles who rule Washington and London.

Since then Ukraine been used like a blunt object to hurt Russia. It has been reduced to a mindless slave to wage a war it has no chance of winning. It has only lasted this long because of weak Russian leadership.

Russia has fought this war very patiently and sheepishly. It doesn't even call it a war. Putin keeps using the term "special military operation" for both political and legal reasons.

But regardless of what branding it uses to placate international legal bodies and the world media, it stands to gain massive pieces of Ukrainian territory at the end of this familial bloodletting. So the question has to be asked, what then? Where does the Russian march inside Ukraine stop?

If Russia doesn't seize Kiev and restore law and order it will make a grave mistake.

Partisan patriot games will not unite Protestant, Catholic and Dissenter. "IndyWatch Feed Politics.eu"

Today is the 225th Anniversary of the Battle of Saintfield.

Over the course of the last decade we have managed to navigate the choppy waters of centennial commemorations. This period of remembrance and reflection has coincided with Sinn Fin becoming the largest party across our island. In the wake of this deep green tsunami, the parties that once dominated nationalist Ireland, North and South, have been increasingly forced to reassert their own republican credentials and sidestep nuance. Connolly House (or more perhaps 44 Parnell Square) is setting both the political agenda and the populist historical narrative.

The new rules of engagement surfaced in the shutting down of the debate around the 86-year history of the Royal Irish Constabulary; but nowhere is it more apparent than in the shifting sands of what constitutes our patriot dead. In essence, many republicans want to mainstream their contention that there is no distinction between the United Irishmen of the 1790s and the Provos of the 1970s.

This summer marks the 225th anniversary of the Presbyterian tenant farmers who turned out in Antrim, Saintfield and Ballynahinch. As historians continue to mine this seam and deepen our understanding of a rebellion that happened nine generations ago, we can use their insights to challenge our own preconceptions. We are not going to agree on a shortlist of what constitutes Irish martyrology but we can at least ask questions about what happened in the North in the 98 and what occurred more recently.

We often approach the 1790s as a missed opportunity, a time when Presbyterians, Catholics and a smattering of Anglicans made common cause in the name of libert and galit. The optics are easier on the eye than the prolonged sectarian bloodletting of the1970s. The background orchestra to the 98 is one of Enlightenment ideals, the American and French revolutions, and a radical Presbyterian Belfast in the vanguard of Transatlantic abolitionism and Irish republicanism.

Sorting the patriots from the oppressors in the Ulster of the 1790s may therefore seem a more straightforward exercise. The watchful Shan Van Vocht places the Defenders, the New Light Presbyterians and even the mortal sinner Tone on her right. They are the sheep. Mother Ireland casts the Anglican Ascendancy class, the yeomanry and the fledgling Orange Order to her left. They are the goats condemned and cancelled. And yet, even this sorting exercise is somewhat messier than it first appears. Let us consider some of the untidy edges.

In Georgian Belfast, some radical Presbyterian merchants were heavily involved in the Belfast Charitable Society at Clifton House, a centre of social activism and later abolitionism. That is unsurprising. However, some Presbyterian loyalists toiled tirelessly in that same society and they matched the Presbyterian republicans with a similar energetic concern for the poor. No simple parting of the waves there.......

BBC Jerusalem bureau politicisation of a tragic incident "IndyWatch Feed War"

On the evening of June 1st Palestinian terrorists opened fire on the civilian community of Halamish.

The Israel Defense Forces said that following an initial investigation, it appeared two Palestinian gunmen opened fire on the West Bank settlement of Neve Tzuf (also known as Halamish), near the Palestinian town of Nabi Saleh on Thursday night and that troops stationed at the adjacent army post on Route 465 returned fire.

Tragically, two Palestinian civilians were caught in the crossfire:

Moments after the exchange, a Palestinian man and his child appeared at the entrance to Neve Tzuf with serious injuries to seek medical help.

It appeared that as a result of the gunfire by the [Israeli] forces, two Palestinians were hurt, the military said in a statement, adding that it regrets the harm to noncombatants. A probe into the incident was underway, it said. []

The Magen David Adom ambulance service said its medics treated the three-year-old boy in critical condition and the man in his forties in serious condition. The toddler was rushed to the Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan by military helicopter, while the man was taken by the Palestinian Red Crescent to a hospital in the West Bank. The Israeli hospital said the young boy remained in critical condition.

Seven Felonies "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Trump has been indicted by a grand jury on 7 felonies, including obstruction of justice. Im told by a prosecutor that I know that proving obstruction can be harder than proving other crimes, and the media is saying that Jack Smith, the special prosecutor, is aggressive in his investigations but conservative in his prosecution decisions: he doesnt bring cases he cant win. He doesnt even bring cases he things are strong maybes. Smith brings cases that he knows he has the evidence to prove.

Other charges, for mishandling classified records and even the Espionage Act violations should be easier to prove, or so my prosecutor friend says, so if Smith has the goods on obstruction, then he surely has the goods on these other crimes. Watch for the obstruction charge to be the swing count. If Smith doesnt nail Trump on everything, it will be because the obstruction case faced unexpected new exculpatory evidence. If that happens, expect the Espionage Act case to also become shaky. But expect the records charges to stick at least at the trial court.

That, however, brings up another issue: even if Smith can win convictions, can he preserve them on appeal. I dont yet see any reasons why he shouldnt be able to do so, but our SCOTUS has been particularly corrupt lately, and we can never forget Bush v. Gore when the majority openly admitted in their decision that their rationale did not hold up, and that though they were deciding the case, they did not want any lower court to use it as precedent. Things have only gotten worse at SCOTUS since, so time will tell whether they have the integrity to rule appropriately.

In the meantime, get ready for 6 to 20 months of pretrial motions and general waiting around. This is the end only of one phase, though for me it seems an auspicious beginning to the next.

The FBI, Ukraines Censorship Assistant "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Adam Dick | Ron Paul Institute | June 7, 2023

Aaron Mat has been among a handful of reporters to whom Elon Musk granted access to Twitter records to uncover efforts by the United States government along with Twitter to censor communication on the social media platform in the time before Musk gained control over it. The newest revelations from Mat concern the US government, via the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), having acted as an assistant to the Ukraine governments main intelligence agency, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), to seek censorship of 163 targeted Twitter accounts Mats included as well as personal information related to those Twitter accounts.

Mats chilling revelations here.

It is bad enough that the US government has been seeking to censor social media communication to advance the goals of power-hungry politicians, businessmen, and bureaucrats here in America. Now, comes revelations that, on top of that, the US government has been seeking to advance the censorship goals of, and hand over personal information of individuals using social media to, the government of Ukraine. Keep in mind that Ukraine is an intensely corrupt government, is overrun with nazis, and is apparently comfortable with targeting for assassination foreign individuals merely because those individuals have expressed views judged intolerable regarding Ukraine or its war with Russia.

The Ukraine government has also been relentless in suppressing free speech, opposition political parties, and the free exercise of religion within its borders.

Of course, the US assistance to Ukraines censorship effort has extended beyond Twitter. Mat notes in the concluding paragraph of his article:

News of the FBIs work with Ukrainian intelligence to censor Twitter users also follows reporting from journalist Lee Fang that the FBI has pressured Facebook to remove accounts and posts deemed by the SBU to be Russian disinformation. According to Fang, a senior Ukrainian official in regular contact with the FBI defined disinformation in such broad terms that it could mean viewpoints that simply contradict the Ukrainian governments narrative.

How about the US starts respecting the First Amendment, and stops assisting Ukraine in pursuing its authoritarian objectives?

Opposition Coalition Wins Majority in Guinea-Bissau Parliament

By SAMBU ASSANA

BISSAU, Guinea Bissau (AP) A coalition of opposition groups won a majority of seats in Guinea Bissaus parliament, beating the ruling party in the countrys first legislative elections since the president dissolved the National Peoples Assembly more than a year ago, according to results announced Thursday.

The results from the weekend vote were announced by the national electoral committee, which said the five-party Terra Ranka coalition won 54 of parliaments 102 seats. The ruling party, MADEM G-15, placed second with 29 seats.

In the previous parliament, the main opposition party, The African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC), held the majority. It is now part of the coalition along with main opposition party PAIGC.

Guinea-Bissau is a small nation that gained independence from Portugal nearly five decades ago. The country has endured continued political turmoil, including multiple coups, since then.

President Umaro Sissoco Embalo, a former army general, took office in February 2020 after he was declared the winner of a runoff election. He survived a coup attempt two years later when assailants armed with machine guns and AK-47s attacked the government palace.

Embalo has consolidated his grip on power since his controversial inauguration. Hes cracked down on civic freedoms, while government bodies have lost significant independence, according to analysts. He dissolved parliament in May 2022 and postponed the legislative elections originally scheduled for the following December.

While there were concerns of unrest if MADEM G-15 did not secure a majority in Sundays election, the capital appeared calm as people celebrating on the streets Thursday.

Speaking at a press conference after the results were announced, the ruling partys president, Braima Camara, said he called the opposition to offer congratulations. The people elected me to be in opposition and we are going to be in opposition to do our job, Camar...

ECOWAS Commission Provided Financial Support For The Conduct Of Legislative Elections In Guinea-Bissau

By GNA

June 8, 2023

Elections In Guinea Bissau

The ECOWAS Commission has provided financial support for the successful conduct of the just-concluded legislative elections in the Republic of Guinea-Bissau. This was disclosed by the Head of ECOWAS Election Observation Mission and former President of the Republic of Cabo Verde, His Excellency Jorge Carlos Fonseca, at the post-election briefing held in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau.

He noted that ECOWAS Commission spent about $712,000 to ensure the success of the Sunday, 4th June 2023 legislative elections into Guinea-Bissaus 120 National Peoples Assembly. The head of the mission also said $500,000 of the amount was provided as support for the National Electoral Commission (CNE), with another $92,000 provided to the ECOWAS stabilization force deployed to the country to enable it to secure the electoral process.

According to the former Cabo Verde President, another $120,000 was also provided by the Commission to offset the outstanding obligations to party agents to prevent them from carrying out a threat to boycott the election over the arrears owed them. He commended the 893,618 voters, comprising 434,009 men and 459,609 women, for their massive turnout and comportment, which contributed to the peaceful and successful conduct of the election and characterized by substantial compliance with the countrys electoral laws.

After IMF Deal, Ghana Faces High-stakes Debt Talks

By Ronald Lwere Kato

Ghana has had to run to the IMF 17 times since independence - thats roughly once every four years on average.

This time though, securing a bailout package from the multilateral lender was the easier part.

There's still a ton of work for Ghana's leaders to do to convince creditors to provide over $22 billion in debt relief- not least because a significant portion of Accra's external debt is held by private lenders who want all their money back.

76% of Ghana's external debt is held by commercial lenders including bondholders. Multilateral development banks also hold a significant portion of Ghana's debt, followed by the Paris Club and China.

Ghana is also in default which makes reaching an agreement on debt relief even harder, with bondholders especially hesitant to give any concessions, not to mention the geopoliticization of debt.

Professor Theophilus Acheampong is an economist and a visiting Senior Fellow at the Africa Policy Research Institute.

He joins the show with insights on the complex debt restructuring negotiations between Accra and its creditors.

Ethiopia Thwarts Shebab Attack on its Somalian Border

Africa News with AFP

The Ethiopian army on Wednesday "thwarted" an attack by Somali Islamist Shebab fighters against a border town between the two countries, the Ethiopian Foreign Ministry said.

"Ethiopia today successfully thwarted an attempted attack by the terrorist group al-Shabaab against the locality of Dolo, on the Ethiopia-Somalia border", briefly indicates the ministry on Twitter.

The Ethiopian federal army "neutralized suicide bombers and destroyed weapons used by the shebab", continues the ministry without giving an assessment, ensuring that "the attackers were stopped dead before they could do great damage".

The Ethiopian government does not specify which target was targeted or on which side of the border the attackers were neutralized. Dolo in Ethiopia is separated by less than three kilometers from its Somali twin Doolow.

The Shebab Islamists, affiliated with Al-Qaeda and who have been fighting the Somali federal government since 2007, for their part affirmed in a press release that they had "carried out two suicide operations against a military base of the Ethiopian forces in the locality of Doolow, in the region of Gedo", on the Somali side of the border.

"The two operations caused a heavy toll in dead and wounded," says the group, which is used to exaggerating the tolls of its attacks. The Shebab had attacked in the summer of 2022 several Ethiopian military camps on the border between the two countries.

The authorities of the Ethiopian region of Somalia, bordering Somalia, had indicated in mid-July that they had destroyed a group of around a hundred shebabs who had managed to infiltrate Ethiopian territory, around a hundred kilometers as the crow flies from the Somali border.

The Ethiopian army provides a contingent to the African Union force in Somalia (Atmis) which supports the Somali government against Shebab.

Equatorial Guinea: WHO Declares End to Marburg Virus Outbreak

WHO declares end to Marburg virus outbreak

By Africa News

The UN's health agency on Thursday declared an end to a nearly four-month outbreak of Marburg virus in Equatorial Guinea, saying the disease, a cousin of Ebola, had caused 35 confirmed or suspected deaths.

"The outbreak of Marburg Virus Disease in Equatorial Guinea ended today with no new cases reported over the past 42 days after the last patient was discharged from treatment," the World Health Organization (WHO) said in a statement.

The highly virulent microbe causes severe fever, often accompanied by bleeding and organ failure.

It is part of the so-called filovirus family that includes Ebola haemorrhagic fever, which has caused several deadly epidemics in western and central Africa.

The outbreak, declared on February 13, was the first of its kind in Equatorial Guinea, a small coastal state in central-western Africa.

"A total of 17 laboratory-confirmed cases and 12 deaths were recorded. All the 23 probable cases reported died," the WHO said.

"Four patients recovered from the virus and have been enrolled in a survivors programme to receive psychosocial and other post-recovery support," it added.

The statement paid tribute to local health workers and support by partner organizations for the "hard work" in tackling the outbreak, much of which entails tracing and isolating people in contact with patients.

- Tanzania outbreak -

The outbreak in Equatorial Guinea coincided with that on the other side of the continent, in Tanzania. Six people died in a two-month episode, which was formally declared over on June 2.

The first outbreak of Marburg in Africa was recorded in South Africa in 1975.

Outbreaks or sporadic cases have been also reported in Kenya, Angola, Ghana, Guinea, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, as well as Equatorial Guinea and Tanzania this year.

The suspected natural source of the virus is the African fruit bat, which carries the pathogen but does not fall sick from it.

Senegal Unrest Prompts Charges and Counter Charges

Africa News with AFP

In Senegal, videos and testimonies are multiplying: men in civilian clothes got out of pick-ups, armed, and chased demonstrators during the unrest following the conviction of opponent Ousmane Sonko.

On Saturday, a white pick-up truck entered the Guinaw Rails Nord district, in the suburbs of Dakar, with "a dozen armed people" in street clothes on board, said Ndery Niang, a sheep seller who attended. at the scene. "They had a list of young people they said were part of the protesters and they went after them".

At least three young people from the neighbourhood had been killed the day before. The video showing Bassilou Sarr , 31, killed by a bullet in the head according to several witnesses, was broadcast in the area.

Another witness who withheld his name, because he fears for his safety, confirms Ndery Niang's account. "I hate and I'm afraid", he admits, "we know that there are moles" .

part of mystery

The violence that rocked Senegal from June 1 to 3 holds an element of mystery, starting with the circumstances in which 16 people were killed and by whom. Power and opposition point the finger at the camp opposite. In any case, various witnesses met by AFP report the presence in the clashes of unidentifiable men carrying weapons.

A young man questioned at the hospital where he was admitted after being injured in Pikine, one of the centers of the eruption, also in the Dakar suburbs, said he found himself in the middle of the clashes while he was traveling in cart.

"I saw a young man on the ground, injured. I stopped and that's where I saw a dozen men in civilian clothes chasing the demonstrators," he said. "They carried guns or bladed weapons" .

Homes in many parts of the world have installed panels to make sure they save on cost and they never run out of energy. And when it comes to this alternative source of energy, there are just so many ways to utilize them.

In fact, some companies have gone so far as to making use of solar energy for the first time ever in a certain application. Leading this movement is Switzerland. The country has definitely thought outside the box, and hopefully, this will serve as inspiration for others to follow.

Europe has definitely shown how much the citizens love to travel via the train, and this mode of transportation is about to set something new because of the continents solar energy production. In fact, the Swiss have already started talks on installing solar panels in between train tracks, which means that even their trains will save on costs.

ISLAMABAD (AP) A suicide bomber targeted a memorial service in Afghanistans northeastern Badakhshan province on Thursday, killing at least 13 people, officials said.

A former Taliban police official was among those killed and at least 30 people were wounded in the explosion near Nabawi Mosque, according to Abdul Nafi Takor, the Taliban-appointed spokesman for the interior ministry. He added that the casualty numbers could rise further as more information becomes available.

The Badakhshan provincial governors office later said the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber and that several of the seriously wounded were transferred by military helicopters to Kabul for further treatment.

The memorial service was held for Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi, the deputy governor of Badakhshan who was killed in a car bombing on Tuesday in Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan,. That attack also killed the deputy governors driver and wounded 10 other people.

Moazuddin Ahmadi, the Taliban official in charge of information and culture, said that Safiullah Samim a former Taliban police chief in Baghlan was among those killed in Thursdays attack.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility but the Islamic State group a top rival of the Taliban had claimed responsibility for Tuesdays car bombing.

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the attack, saying in a tweet that the bombing of mosques is an act of terrorism and goes against human and Islamic standards

On Wednesday, several senior Taliban officials attended Ahmadis funeral, along with hundreds of residents of Faizabad.

NYC Prosecutor Drops Over 300 Convictions Tied to Officers Found Guilty of Crimes

Manhattan's top prosecutor on Tuesday, June 6, disavowed over 300 convictions tied to New York City police officers who were themselves found guilty of crimes, the latest in over 1,000 such dismissals citywide in little over two years. (AP Photo/Mary Altaffer, File)

NEW YORK (AP) Manhattans top prosecutor on Tuesday disavowed over 300 convictions tied to police officers who were themselves found guilty of crimes, the latest in over 1,000 dismissals citywide of cases connected to officers who were charged or convicted.

The latest abandoned convictions, almost all misdemeanors, date back as far as 1996. Each involves one of nine officers who were later convicted of on-the-job offenses among them taking bribes, illegally selling guns, lying under oath and planting drugs on suspects and are no longer on the force.

The cases put more than 50 people behind bars and imposed fines on 130, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said.

We cannot stand by convictions that are built on cases brought by members of law enforcement who have violated the law, Bragg, a Democrat, said in a statement after 308 misdemeanor cases were thrown out Tuesday. A similar proceeding was planned for eight felony cases Wednesday.

Since the start of 2021, Bragg and at least three of New York Citys four other district attorneys in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens have arranged the dismissal of a total of more than 1,200 cases connected to officers who had been convicted or charged, according to a tally compiled by The Associated Press.

The dismissals began with drug convictions built by a former narcotics detective, Joseph Franco, who was charged with perjury until the case against him was thrown out, mid-trial, this January. The case collapsed when Braggs office acknowledged...

A Third Day of Smoky Air Gives Millions in US East Coast, Canada a New View of Wildfire Threat

By JENNIFER PELTZ and ROB GILLIES

NEW YORK (AP) Images of smoke obscuring the New York skyline and the Washington Monument this week have given the world a new picture of the perils of wildfire, far from where blazes regularly turn skies into hazardous haze.

A third day of unhealthy air from Canadian wildfires may have been an unnerving novelty for millions of people on the U.S. East Coast, but it was a reminder of conditions routinely troubling the countrys West and a wake-up call about the future, scientists say.

This is kind of an astounding event but likely to become more common amid global warming, said Justin Mankin, a Dartmouth College geography professor and climate scientist. This is something that we, as the eastern side of the country, need to take quite seriously.

Millions of residents could see that for themselves Thursday. The conditions sent asthma sufferers to hospitals, delayed flights, postponed ballgames and even pushed back a White House Pride Month celebration. The fires sent plumes of fine particulate matter as far away as North Carolina and northern Europe and parked clumps of air rated unhealthy or worse over the heavily populated Eastern Seaboard.

At points this week, air quality in places including New York, the nations most populous city, nearly hit the top of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agencys air-pollution scale. Local officials urged people to stay indoors as much as possible and wear face masks when they venture out.

Such conditions are nothing new indeed, increasingly frequent on the U.S. West Coast, where residents were buying masks and air filters even before the coronavirus pandemic and have become accustomed to checking air quality daily in summertime. Since 2017, California has seen eight of its 10 largest wildfires and six of the most destructive.

The hazardous air has sometimes forced children, older adults and people with asthma and...

Querying the existence of a covid pandemic "IndyWatch Feed War"

Health Advisory & Recovery Team | June 6, 2023

Covid-19 has been described as a global pandemic but does this title give it a severity and indeed fear factor way beyond its actual impact?

The word pandemic used to have a very specific meaning. It was used to describe a scenario where there was extensive incapacitation of key workers and large numbers of deaths, including young people. A genuine pandemic is not something that would have needed billions of dollars in advertising for people to even notice and fear. Using this long-established definition of the word, we conclude that there was in fact no global pandemic in 2020. The word was deliberately misapplied and weaponised against an unsuspecting public. Let us be clear, this article is not questioning the existence of a virus SARS-CoV-2 or an illness named Covid-19, but even the choice of SARS (Severe Acquired Respiratory Syndrome) as the name for this coronavirus was already setting the scene for systematic fear-mongering.

The notion of a pandemic was relentlessly promulgated through mainstream media to ramp up fear in the population, to help enforce unprecedented lockdowns and other extremely harmful policies (e.g school closures and universal mask wearing) and to push through Emergency Use Authorisations of novel technology mRNA and viral vector DNA products.

This would not have been possible were it not for three false premises that covid was:

novel;

extremely lethal; and

unprecedented.

It was none of these things. It was no more novel than numerous other viruses which emerge each year in terms of the ability to be recognised by our immune systems. It was no more lethal than bad influenza viruses of the past and was less lethal than seasonal influenza for the young. Intensive care stays were longer than have been observed with flu, though whether that was due to a virus directly or caused by our changed response to how we treated respiratory infections is unclear. Overall it was a treatable, seasonal respiratory virus mostly affecting the old and infirm.

HART has written previously on how simil...

2023-06-07 20:50 UTC5 (still technically day 0)

I had left the Met. Lounge briefly and returned to find that they were already starting to board 48. The lounge attendant said that a redcap was on the way and I should stand with several others also waiting for redcap assistance. The redcap finally showed up around 21:10 with room for only four people to ride. He could carry all the luggage, but two of the more capable of us had to walk behind. I was glad I wasnt one of the walkers because the train had been spotted all the way at the other side of the station on track 30.

The train departed promptly at 21:30. We have three engine units one of which has a CPRail paint job, the Boston sleeper, the caf car, two Boston coaches, three New York coaches, a Viewliner diner, two Viewliner I New York sleepers, a Viewliner baggage car, and a coach that, I guess, is deadheading.

Maybe the Boston sleeper is the Viewliner II on this tripI dont know for sure. Both New York sleepers are definitely Viewliner Is.

2023-06-08 00:25 UTC4 (now its day 1), were departing South Bend, already almost half an hour late at the first stop.

I woke up for both the Toledo and Cleveland stops. There must be some schedule padding because we were out of Toledo right on time and arrived in Cleveland early and had a long stop waiting for the scheduled departure time.

The dining car folks dont like making announcements on the PA, so around 06:40, I headed for the diner to find that they were already serving. Dont believe what I wrote in earlier posts about better dining on the Lake Shore Limited. The car youre riding in is a Viewliner diner; but the food is from the flexible dining menu, the same crap that I got on the Texas Eagle and would have gotten on the Capitol Limited had I taken that train eastbound out of Chicago.

A bit under half an hour east of Erie at 08:00, as we were passing a freight train, we had an emergency brake application. I gathered from the radio traffic that one of the air hoses between two of the cars had parted* due to a defect that was reported to, but not fixed by, Chicago Mechanical. (Folks who follow Amtrak will not be at all surprised by the condition of the trains that come out of Chicago.)

They needed a tripple spot at the Buffalo-Depew station, first for a crew change, then for the coaches, and finally for the sleepers and the baggage car. After finishing the passenger work, they spent some time double-checkin...

Missouri v. Biden might be most important legal case in U.S. history "IndyWatch Feed War"

From what Ive read, proof our federal government wants to kill free speech is overwhelming.

BY BILL RICE, JR. | JUNE 7, 2023

Until yesterday, Id not read any documents in the lawsuit brought by the states of Missouri, Louisiana et al vs. President Biden. Because of this, I didnt fully grasp the stunning claims made by the plaintiffs, nor realize how overwhelming the evidence is that supports this case.

Yesterday, I read the first 54 pages of a 354-page legal document that was filed with a federal district court in Louisiana on March 3, 2023.

I now better understand why some people believe this might be the most important legal case in U.S. history.

In a nutshell, attorneys for the plaintiffs are compiling and presenting a mountain of evidence that shows actors for the U.S. government have conspired to nullify the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

This Amendment was first for an important reason.

It states that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The core issue at stake is should American citizens be allowed to have genuine freedom of speech.

In my view, the evidence already presented in this legal case proves beyond a reasonable doubt that a cadre of officials in government (and organizations working in partnership with government agencies) despise, fear and want to end free speech. In fact, theyve already effectively blocked the free speech of millions of Americans.

In a democracy, free speech is vitally important as it makes dissent from prevailing narratives possible and thus protects the natural rights of citizens who may hold minority views. That is, without free speech, only the views of those who embrace authorized opinions would be allowed to participate in any meaningful way in democratic debates.

One can parse this lengthy document a thousand ways, but the bottom-line conclusion is that the U.S. government believes only its views should be allowed to be widely disseminated.

Even more terrifying, virtually all the important institutions in contemporary society defend and seemingly support the efforts of the federal government to censor any speech labeled mis- or disinformation.

A few of my main take-aways from my (partial) reading of...

Love is love "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

In an earlier blog post, I facetiously said I would go after the slogan love is love next. Well, why not. This should be quick.

Love is love is a slogan that is used to legitimize queer love by appealing to the value of love. It brings to bear every cultural narrative of star-crossed lovers torn apart by circumstance or by society, and observes that homophobes are the clear villains of the story. Love is love, and why are you against love? What petty prejudices do you have that motivate you to support one kind of love and oppose another? Also, if you read it literally, the slogan is tautologous, which is cute.

None of that is wrong exactly. The issue is that for some people, there are in fact substantive differences in how they love, or whether they love at all.

Consider polyamorous people or people with kinks. While such people might fit into the love is love framework, political opponents might not buy it. And the people in question dont necessarily want to fit in that framework.

Even moving beyond specific identities, there can be all sorts of subtle differences in the way some people approach dating or relationships, that may cause them to reject love is love. For example, the movie Bros seems to follow a standard romcom formula, but still made a big point of rejecting love is love. In the very first scene, Bobby says, That is a lie we had to make up to convince you idiots to finally treat us fairly. Love is not love. Our relationships are different. Our sex lives are different.

And then there are groups like trans and nonbinary people, whose fight isnt directly related to love. What does love is love do for them?

But is love is love directly harmful in any way, or is it just a matter of leaving certain people and groups out? You know, maybe its okay if the slogan only works for some queer folks. We can come up with another slogan for the enbies, and that slogan probably wouldnt apply to the cis gays, and that would be okay because we can have more than one slogan.

But theres at least one reason to believe that love is love is directly harmful: amatonormativity, the normalization and elevation of monogamous romantic relationships in society. Yes, there are many narratives of lovers crossing the world for each other, but uh, some of us had prior complaints about those narratives. They portray love as greatest thing someone can experience, the definitive way for a person to become whole. People who dont experience love either dont exist, are the subject of pity, or are inhuman mon...

Thirty years ago, in my economics textbook in India, the section on international trade referred to Argentina. It would be better, according to the textbook, for Argentina to concentrate on the production and export of beef, while Germany should direct its resources towards the production of electronics. This example was used to illustrate Adam Smiths absolute advantage principle countries should focus on what they do best, rather than diversify their economies. It seemed churlish to me, that developing countries such as Argentina should only produce raw materials, while wealthy countries such as Germany went ahead with technological development.

Argentina, at that time, was still a major producer and exporter of beef. My peers and I had no access to Jos Hernndezs epic poem Martn Fierro, about the gauchos of the pampas, the cowboys of the plains of Argentina, but we knew of the ferocious compadritos (streetcorner thugs) and cuchilleros (knife fighters) from the short stories of Jorge Luis Borges. There were cowboys mixed in here, loners who sat on their horses on Argentinas flatlands and gathered their cattle for the market. No longer do these horsemen define Argentinas rural society. Today, the countryside is defined by the small farmer and the agricultural proletariat who work for the large agribusinesses and are the protagonists of the countrys fortunes.

According to Argentinas National Agricultural Census, the number of agricultural holdings (EAPs) in the country decreased by roughly 41 percent between 1988 and 2018, due to the increasing concentration of land into the hands of a small elite.

In 2021, the World Trade Organisation (WTO)...

Empire Fables: Vladimir Gluten and the Country that Keeps Attacking Itself "IndyWatch Feed War"

A hound and a cat sat on a couch and watched TV.

The hound flipped through the channels with the remote but could only find two mollusks debating how stupid Joe Biden is and the National Weather Service talking about a terrible pestilence sweeping the land.

Wait! said the cat. Lets see what they named the terrible pestilence.

The crawl says theyre calling it the Victoria Nuland! said the hound. Hey, its time already for the CIA mockingbird news.

At this the cat sprang off the couch and got nose to nose with the screen, switching his tail from side to side, as the mockingbird fluttered and chirped away:

In our continuing exhausting award-winning coverage of Russias Hitler-like attack on Ukraine, we sum up the irrefutable truths so far: Russia bombed its own Nord Stream gas pipeline, bombed its own ammonia pipeline, bombed its own journalists in its own cafe, bombed its own Kerch bridge, tortured and killed its own allies and sympathizers in Bucha, attacked the Kremlin with drones, bombed its own troops holding the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and destroyed the Nova Kakhovka dam so Russian defenses and minefields would be washed away and water would be cut off to its soldiers and allies in Crimea.

The cat turned his head to the hound and said, Can you believe this shit?

And the hound answered: I know! I never saw a country attack itself so much. Its like it has an auto-immune disorder like a really bad gluten allergy.

And that, children, is how Vladimir Gluten got his name.
