Ro Khanna: The Silicon Valley 'progressive' pushing closer US ties to Modi's India

US Congressman Ro Khanna arrives for an official State Dinner on 22 June 2023 in honour of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi (AFP)
Azad Essa Sun, 07/23/2023 - 11:36
The Indian American congressman says he has a duty to reject Hindu nationalism. But does his record stand up to scrutiny?

When India was subject to intense international scrutiny following Narendra Modi's decision to annex Indian-controlled Kashmir in late August 2019, an article in The Caravan, India's premier long-form magazine, began doing the rounds on social media.

The long read, written by activist Pieter Friedrich, detailed the role of the Hindu nationalist lobby in American politics, and focused on then-Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard from Hawaii.

Friedrich forensically outlined how the Hindu right-wing paramilitary organisation, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), had funded Gabbard in exchange for helping rehabilitate Modi's image in the United States.

But it wasn't just the article that caught the attention of South Asian Americans.

Instead, it was the unprompted interjection by an Indian American lawmaker from California.

"Important article," tweeted Congressman Ro Khanna from the 17th district in California, widely known as Silicon Valley, the only district in continental America with an Asian majority.

"It's the duty of every American politician of Hindu faith to stand for pluralism, reject Hindutva, and speak for equal rights for Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists and Christians. That is the vision of India my grandfather Amarnath Vidyalankar fought for," the Congressman added.

Vidyalankar was an Indian activist who became a member of the Indian National Congress and later an MP in...

Why Academia Cannot Forecast Anything "IndyWatch Feed World"

COMMENT: Mr. Armstrong, I have been impressed by your Economic Confidence Model. You said there would be no recession until after 2024. You were really the only one who said that. Now Bloomberg reported that the forecasters who were first out of the box to predict a US recession are now hedging their bets. They mention Deutsche Bank Vice Chair of Research Peter Hooper and Fannie Mae chief economist Doug Duncan. However, Nomura Securities International senior economist Aichi Amemiya still says a recession is coming, but its getting to be a close call.

Not one of the significant houses seems ever to get it right. I just wanted to say your model shines a light on the whole analysis field. I cant wait for your Geometry of Time.

REPLY:  Thank you. It has been a most interesting experience. As I said, this is something I bumped into. I did not go looking for such a model. It was something that found me, as many say it was my destiny, even growing up in a house with the address of 314 South Lippincott Ave, in Maple Shade, New Jersey.

The Big Lies, Natural Origin and Lab Leak "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Thomas Simpson | Aletho News | July 22, 2023

Propagandist Joseph Goebbels was (rightly or wrongly) credited with making famous the Big Lie. That of repeating a lie often enough until it is accepted as truth. Such is the case with the origins of Covid-19.

For three years Americans have been repeatedly reminded by mainstream press reports, as well as independent news websites and bloggers, that Covid originated in Wuhan, China. Over and over again we were told that It was a lab leak in Wuhan! or Covid came from a bat sold at a wet market in Wuhan or The Chinese government grounded all flights but those to the United States, proof that the Chinese government created Covid etc, etc. But if we follow the money trail and paper trail we can unravel the true history behind the origins of Covid-19. And if we do, we may arrive at only one conclusion. That Covid-19 was MADE IN AMERICA!

We begin by searching the patent records of the CDC and Big Pharma. Investigative reporting by Dr. David Martin, CEO of MCAM, an intangible assets underwriter company, turned up patent evidence showing that SARS CoV2 was not a manifestation in nature. It was manufactured as early as 2003 by the CDC. And the patent application for the mRNA countermeasure was submitted only three days later!

CDCs patent application No. 7220852 was submitted on April 25, 2003.

Pharmaceutical Company Sanofi submitted its patent application for the mRNA countermeasure on April 28, 2003, patent No. 7151163, was submitted only three days later. How could that be unless there was collusion between the CDC and Sanofi? Dr. Martin described it as a RICO case of racketeering. Sanofi was later purchased by Pfizer and the mRNA was never approved because it didnt meet the requirements of the US Patent Office.

Dr. Martins findings revealed that the flu virus never left even though CDC reported a 95% reduction in reported flu cases. What happened to the flu? According to Dr. Martin, Influenza was a failed decades-long influenza mandate that was desperately promoted by governments around the world. But they failed to get a response similar to the response to SARS CoV2 they had hoped for. Which was to get everybody injected against the flu. So they said, lets change the pathogen. They can do this again a thousand times now that populations have responded the way they were induced to respond. Call it flu Pandemic 2.0, but now we are on to them, said Dr. Martin.

In 2008, CDCs SARS CoV2 patent 7220852 was approved. But Sanofi now Pfizer saw its patent for the mRNA turned down. This was also the year the DoD took an interest in the SARS virus as a potential bioweapon.

LAGOS JULY 22ND (URHOBOTODAY)-Members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) fled various camps in Asaba, Delta State capital, in the early hours of Saturday.

They fled their camps following a joint raid conducted by troops of Nigerian military and the operatives of Department of State Services (DSS).

According to the Nigerian Army, the troops attached to 63 Brigade Garrison under the auspices of 6 Division of Nigerian Army and the operatives of DSS engaged the terrorists and arrested one of the fighters during a gun duel.

Giving an update on Saturday in Abuja, the spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Onyema Nwachukwu, a Brigadier-General, disclosed that some assorted weapons were recovered from their enclaves.

Nwachukwu listed the ammunition recovered as 5 AK 47 Rifles, 3 pump action semi automatic rifles, one G3 rifle, one single barrel gun, live cartridges, electric saw, machetes, an axe and IPOB flag.

He said, In a sustained effort to rid Nigeria of criminality, troops of 63 Bde Garrison under the auspices of 6 Division, Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services, have in an ongoing clearance operation, destroyed an enclave of the proscribed IPOB/ESN at Asaba, Delta State, today Saturday 22 July 2023.

The troops conducted a raid operation on the fortified enclave located in the middle of a forested high ground in the early hours of the day.

The gallant troops overpowered the IPOB fighters in the exchange of fire that followed the encounter, compelling them to abandon their hideout in disarray. The troops have destroyed the enclave and are exploiting the forest in pursuit of the fleeing fighters.

He noted that the Chief of Army Staff, Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja ordered that those threatening the peace of the country should not be treated with the hand of kid gloves.

The army spokesman said Lagbaja commended the troops and other security agencies for their effort in the ongoing operations, charging them to sustain the momentum to restore sanity in the region.

UK Confiscation Order: Ibori Has Two Optional Right Of Appeal-Sagay "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

IBORI 5

LAGOS JULY 22ND (URHOBOTODAY)-Constitutional lawyer, Prof. Itse Sagay, SAN, on Saturday, said that former Delta State governor, Chief James Ibori can appeal the judgment of the Southwark Crown Court on confiscation of 101.5 million from him.

Judge David Tomlinson, delivering the confiscation order at Southwark Crown Court, London, said Ibori should pay the sum immediately or face an eight-year jail sentence.

Responding to the ruling, Ibori, who claimed that he and those close to him were being persecuted, vowed to challenge the order in the higher courts.

He also added that Judge Tomlinson appeared to have cast aside any pretence of impartiality, while making the order, which he described as both wholly unrealistic and unrealisable.

Reacting to the issue, Sagay a former Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, said Ibori has a right to appeal to higher courts in the UK.

He said: Yes, he has an absolute right to appeal the judgment. The judgment was from a High Court so he can appeal to the higher courts, that is the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

He has two options and both can be exploited. He can appeal the judgment in London and defend any attempt at extradition in Nigeria. He can do the two.

With Another Indictment Looming, Trump Makes Himself Feel Better on Truth Social "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Whats a guy to do when he is about to be indicted for a third (and possibly fourth time) for various coup-related crimes and is feeling kinda blue about it? Apparently, if that guy is a former president with severe narcissistic personality disorder, his own social media network, and a cult-like following, the answer is sharing memes that portray him as a messianic figure.

The eyes may be the window to the soul, but Truth Social is the window to what is going on in Donald Trumps head at any given point in time.

Right now, that window tells us that he is feeling mopey and is in serious need of validation. Therefore, if being re-Truthed by a twice-impeached president has been a dream of yours, then today might be a golden opportunity to cross that item off your bucket list.

Here is how: Head on over to Truth Social, create an account, and then either compare Trump to God or put down one of his opponents. Oh, and apparently it helps to pretend to be a member of QAnon.

Lets take a closer look at what will do the trick:

It is probably fair to say, and Two Corinthians would agree, that the former president is not a scholar of the Good Book. However, he loves it when people pray for/over him, and he has a basic understanding of the main plot. Therefore, if you want to be re-Truthed, do not make the mistake of comparing him to one of the minor biblical characters. Stick to the highlights.

Hes half right, you know "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Mary and I saw Barbie last night. Ben Shapiro is partly right it is the most woke movie Ive ever seen. Althoughwe watched the whole thing, eagerly awaiting the gay orgy scene and the raging trans character stealing all the scenes, and were so disappointed. The closest we got to an orgy was two Kens kissing Ken on the cheek, and I guess we have to trust that there was a trans person there, but she was just playing Barbie like all the other Barbies.

It was loaded full of the Feminizms, though. And the Kens were patriarchal assholes, kinda incel-like, but the movie was also sympathetic to them and tried provide solutions to their problems. There was all this talk of autonomy and independence and freedom and positivity and kindness, though, and I can see why Shapiro would think it was garbage he doesnt like any of that stuff. Theres even a Shapiro joke, with one Barbie saying that shes comfortable with both logic and emotion at the same time.

There were also some good jokes about the Snyderverse, and the last line of the movie is a killer. I felt sorry for Alan, Kens Buddy, and poor permanently pregnant Midge.

Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie were perfectly cast. (You should google their names right now: Google will give you a pink fireworks show.) Both were energetic and entertaining.

Tens of thousands of Israelis are marching to Jerusalem to block a parliament vote on a controversial bill that opponents say will curtail judicial oversight over legislators.

A small group of protesters launched the march from Tel Aviv on Tuesday.

The crowd grew in size every day, with footage showing a long stream of people walking along main roads on Saturday.

"I have no choice," Osnat Maimon, a participant in the march, told Middle East Eye.

"It's hard to walk in the sun and it's hard to leave my kids at home, but I have no other choice," Maimon, who joined the crowds from central Israel, added.

The march is set to culminate in Jerusalem outside the parliament, or Knesset, before the vote on Monday.

The bill would see the abolition of the "reasonableness standard", eliminating the Supreme Court's ability to block government decisions it deems unreasonable.

It's part of a package of bills proposed by the government earlier this year, which is seeking to overhaul the judicial system in the country.

Okende was reported kidnapped from the front of the Constitutional Court on July 12th, the day before his assassination. He was summoned by the court to declare his assets upon having stepped down from his post in the government. Gunmen Abduct Sapele Newspapers Vendors Daughter, Eight Others Along Jesse-Oben Road "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

Gunmen

LAGOS JULY 22ND (URHOBOTODAY)-Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped the 24-year-old daughter of a newspaper vendor along with eight other passengers in a bus along the Jesse-Oben Road in Delta State.

The incident was reported to have happened just before Oben, a town on the Edo/Delta states border.

The Edo State Police Command has not yet officially confirmed the kidnapping, but reports indicated that the kidnappers spared the driver and conductor of the bus traveling from Sapele to Asaba, allowing them to escape, while leading the remaining passengers into the nearby forest.

Gunshots were said to have been fired into the air to instill fear in their captives.

The incident has left the newspaper vendor in a state of anguish and desperation in Sapele, leading to his appeal to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and the security agencies for assistance towards freeing his abducted daughter.

He expressed the disbelief of singularly targeting him, considering himself a humble vendor with no significant monetary wherewithal.

The kidnappers have also been said to have demanded a staggering ransom of N10 million for the safe return of the daughter of the vendor.

The distraught vendor was said to have passionately beseeched the relevant authorities to intensify their efforts to secure the release of his daughter.

The Newspapers Vendor Association in Sapele has also condemned the appalling act, describing it as inhuman and heinous.

In a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the association, the association called on the Edo and Delta state governors as well as the security agencies to spare no effort in apprehending the culprits responsible for the heartless crime.

Facing Factsenheimer "IndyWatch Feed War"

By David Swanson, World BEYOND War, July 22, 2023

Im rolling down the President Biden Expressway in Scranton PA (speed limit 35) listening to Kai Birds and Martin Sherwins bio of Oppenheimer, and it strikes me that the subjects decision not to poison every man, woman, and child in Germany, purely because he couldnt figure out how to do it, probably didnt make it into the movie. (Tell me if Im wrong.)

I will be extremely pleasantly surprised if anyone comes out of the movie struck by what a reader of the book (remember those?) ought to be struck by: the Los Alamos scientists were willing to commit mass murder because they were sold a package of lies, and when those lies fell apart, one by one some before and some after the use of nuclear bombs on two cities many of those scientists changed their minds.  They were told that Germany was probably developing a nuclear bomb and would soon use it. They learned that this was probably not the case. They were told that the war would only end with either Germany or the United States using nuclear bombs. Then Germany surrendered without anybody having used the bomb. They were told that the Soviet Union, that place doing the bulk of the fighting against Germany, was an ally in a struggle for the survival of life on Earth. Then they were told that the Soviet Union was the actual enemy against whom the bomb needed to be developed and brandished. Various of them were given to understand at various points that the bomb technology would be shared internationally to prevent its use or an arms race, or that it would be demonstrated on an uninhabited location or simply communicated to Japan prior to being used on cities. The scientists were told that bombing Japan would be needed to end the war, even as the pressue on them to hurry was increased, with Germany out of the war, and the actual urgency coming from Washingtons desire to use the bombs before the war could end and end through Soviet action without the bombs having been demonstrated.

Some of the scientists quit at various points in this saga. Some of them illegally gave information to the Soviets, believing rightly or wrongly th...

Unimpeded Jewish settler violence has left the Palestinian people in desperation. Between 2010 and 2019, nearly 3,000 Israeli settler attacks killed at least 22 Palestinians and injured 1,258 others across the occupied West Bank. Data collected by the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reveals that there have been at least 570 attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank in the first six months of 2023 an average of three attacks a day. With the settler attacks intensifying, the plight of the Palestinians grows more menacing.

Betselm describes how the Israeli government encourages the settlements

Most of the settlements in the West Bank are defined as national priority areas. Accordingly, the settlers and other Israeli citizens working or investing in the settlements are entitled to significant financial benefits. These benefits are provided by six government ministries: the Ministry of Construction and Housing (generous loans for the purchase of apartments, part of which is converted to a grant); the Israel Lands Administration (significant price reductions in leasing land); the Ministry of Education (incentives for teachers, exemption from tuition fees in kindergartens, and free transportation to school); the Ministry of Industry and Trade (grants for investors, infrastructure for industrial zones, etc.); the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (incentives for social workers); and the Ministry of Finance (reductions in income tax for individuals and companies).

Benefits are an inducement and not an excuse to acquire...

The Cost of Re-Enforcing Political Monocultures "IndyWatch Feed War"

In nature, monocultures are not so resilient to predators or other ravages that exploit their inherent vulnerabilities. Farmers have known this characteristic of monocultures forever. (Agribusiness doesnt care as much, given its short-term profit outlook.)

Democratic voters are at risk from the increasing political monocultures that are weakening resistance to the GOP and Big Business demands.

There are four such groups that are exhibiting similar monoculture symptoms of deteriorating power.

1. The Democratic Party itself is led by pathetic sinecurists controlling its formal national, state, and local Party structures. At the top is the PAC-greased Democratic National Committee (DNC) whose chief strategists, over decades, have steadily written off half of the nation (the Red States), and abandoned their Parties there down the line. When, for example, the Party gave up on five mountain states in the West that used to send Democrats to Congress, it started out with a deficit of ten in the Senate. It is hard to recover from such an abdication. The Party will spend far more on a Pennsylvania Senate race than on Senate races in Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and the Dakotas combined. There are no local Democratic Committees in 30 of 32 counties in Wyoming.

Today, the Party raises record amounts of money and finds ways to set records in blowing it. Senator Chuck Schumer directed the spending of over $200 million in two big-time losing Senate races against Mitch McConnell (Kentucky) and Lindsey Graham (South Carolina). The loser in South Carolina was promoted to head the DNC where he has declared himself to be part of the Democratic Party machine a mere functionary instead of a galvanizer.

The Democratic Party doesnt have the energy possessed by the GOP and right-wing groups that fight each other, but have managed to win many national and statewide elections that they should have lost badly. This is due to lassitude and blunders by the Dems in the gerrymandering struggle and indenturing itself to corporate campaign money that has blocked its former New Deal agenda of standing, in all the states, for working families while the GOP banded with Wall Street.

After avoidable election losses, the Dems dont force the responsible officials out and clean house with more vigorous people. Recall the historic blunder in New York State in 2022 dominated by the Democratic Party that gave away four winnable Congressional seats, and failed to defeat the media-exposed charlatan George Santos (R-NY). Despite this dismal performance, the Democratic Party retained its State Chairperson.

A monoculture is resistant to outside criticism and advice, no matter how credible and pragmatic (See:...

THUNDER MOUNTAIN SERVICES APPLIES FOR AIR QUALITY PERMIT R13-3563

Review Process Underway at WV-DEP, Air Quality Division until July 27, 2023

Appreciation goes to the Staff of the WV-DEP for the open question and public comment sessions July 20th on the proposed Medical Waste gasifier/incinerator to be sited in Jackson County. As all the questions indicated, this proposal is hardly understood at all! Most important were the questions and comments of Mr. Buckley from Jackson County. The residents there not only lack understanding, they are not even aware!

A schematic diagram or flow sheet was promised to Mr. Buckley, which I also ask about during the question session. I also stated that the Application Document for this project that is on the WV-DEP website was 1974 pages in size when I tried to use it. (It apparently has been growing in size as time passes.) This document is too large. I was unable to fully load or navigate in it beyond page 38.

1. Please decompose the Application Document and designate one component (separate document) as The Application Document. Then, the other supporting documents or separate appendices will be supplements. Please forward these ASAP to the participants and any others that may be considered party to this matter.

2. Please obtain or prepare a reasonable process flow sheet showing some technical detail and email these to Mr. Buckley, Mr. Nichols (this writer), and the other participants. Be sure to indicate the By-Pass feature, its input and exit. And, indicate the continuous emission monitoring (CEM) locations and flare locations, if any.

3. Please consider holding a Public Event in Jackson County in mid-September on this Application. The hot months of the vacation season are to be avoided. The local residents there deserve to become informed of this proposed 20 ton per day facility involving unusually noxious materials. Such a Public Meeting was held in Follansbee, WV, regarding a similar size waste incinerator. (Have you estimated the TPD of GHG?)

4. Additional justification for the above requests is the unusually complex if not complicated nature of the process, of the control system and of the draft Air Quality Permit itself. Most...

From Scranton to Ukraine, All Is Not As It Seems "IndyWatch Feed War"

By David Swanson, World BEYOND War, July 22, 2023

Remarks in Scranton, Pennsylvania, July 22, 2023

There is something that we need to tell a great many of our friends and neighbors. It is that we have been misled. All is not as it seems.

Here we are outside what appears to be a factory where U.S. government dollars create jobs, boost the economy, and fund activities that support the important needs of the U.S. public and the people of the world. Not a bit of those appearances is real.

When government dollars are spent on weapons, they eliminate jobs, because spending those dollars on education or green energy or never taxing them in the first place creates more jobs than spending them on weapons and better paying jobs with wider economic impact and thats regardless of whether the weapons are given away to a foreign government and whoever ends up with them. Weapons are not products or services that circulate in the economy. They are made to destroy themselves and much else. And a huge chunk of the money ends up with very few people. This economy is drained and degraded by the funding of this factory a reality that becomes apparent if we direct our vision more widely.

Compare life around here with life in many more wealthy and less wealthy countries. Where is our free higher education? Where is our secure retirement? Where is our healthcare as a human right? Where is our protection from the indignity and ordeal of poverty in the midst of mountainous wealth? Where, oh Amtrak Joe, for the love of all that is decent, are our non-antique trains? Why do we all travel about in Earth-eating automobiles? How is it that weve been kept so ignorant that we can be told were dreaming of fantasies when we speak of things that are normal for many more people than live in this country a country where bringing back child labor is deemed progress?

Wait! we are told, first things first. We must manufacture weapons to save the world. After that we can worry abou...

A Yemeni town south of Taiz has been left in shock after the killing of a UN official by gunmen on Friday.

Moayad Hameidi, a Jordanian national, was fatally shot while he was at a restaurant around noon in al-Turbah town.

He had arrived recently in Yemen to head the World Food Programme (WFP) in Taiz, the UN agency said.

The assailants, who have yet to be identified, shot him from a motorcycle and fled the scene. Another person was injured but was in stable condition, according to security officials.

Local security forces announced on Saturday afternoon the arrest of people suspected of carrying out the shooting.

A UN staffer in the Turbah office told Middle East Eye that Hameidi's killing has left employees terrified.

A United Nations expert said hundreds of boys are being "snatched" from their mothers in camps controlled by the Kurdish-run Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the northeast of the country, warning the practice was causing irreparable harm and violated international law.

Fionnuala Ni Aolain, UN special rapporteur for the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism, is the first UN expert to gain access to the Al-Hol and Al-Roj camps.

Speaking after a six-day trip to northeast Syria, Aolain said the "cradle to the grave detention" of children broke international law and was taking place without any "legal procedure".

"The thing I will say that concerned me the most and my team the most as we visited northeast Syria was the mass indefinite and arbitrary detention of children, particularly boys, in various types of facilities," said Aolain.

Ibori Vows To Fight Seek For Justice In Highest Courts Over UK Plan To Confiscate His $129m "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

JAMES IBORI 5

LAGOS JULY 22ND (URHOBOTODAY)-Former governor of Delta State James Ibori has reacted to a plan by the UK government to confiscate more than 100 million ($129 million) belonging to him.

A state prosecutor on Thursday asked a London court to order the confiscation.

Ibori served jail term in prison in the UK after being charged with laundering a corruptly acquired fortune.

He pleaded guilty in 2012 to 10 counts of fraud and money laundering and received a 13-year jail sentence.

Having served half of his prison sentence in pre and post-trial detention, as is common, Ibori returned to Nigeria in 2017 and did not attend Thursdays hearing.

Lead prosecution counsel Jonathan Kinnear told the court that the total amount that should be confiscated from Ibori was 101.5 million and that if he did not pay up he should be sentenced to between five and 10 years in prison.

Judge David Tomlinson of Southwark Crown Court is expected to give his order on Friday or soon after hearing arguments from both sides.

Reacting to Thursdays proceeding on his Facebook page, Ibori said his hope was rapidly fading for a fair hearing.

He also announced plans to seek redress and fight for justice in the highest courts in UK.

He said, Finally, the shenanigans in the Southwark Crown Court are drawing to a close. Judge Tomlinson is due to make a confiscation order which should be both realisable and not punitive.

However, after what transpired in court today my hopes are rapidly fading for any degree of fairness.

In the 2 years it has taken to write this judgment it seems apparent that he has forgotten many of the salient points and is prioritising expediency over justice.

The next step will be to take my fight for justice to the highest courts in the UK.

Alabama GOP Upholds Proud Tradition of Racism and Defies Supreme Court "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

You can say what you want (and we have) about the merits of its recent rulings, justices on the take from billionaires, and how one of the seats on the bench was stolen, but what you cannot say about the Supreme Court is that abiding by its decisions is optional.

Unless you are an Alabama Republican, apparently.

On Friday, GOP lawmakers openly defied an order from the Supreme Court to amend the states racially gerrymandered congressional map by creating a second majority-Black district (or something close to it).

Admittedly, when the ruling was made, everybody was surprised that, for once, the high court did something in support of voting rights instead of taking them away. However, Alabama had weeks to come up with a non-racist map and just didnt do it.

In the end, all they could muster was to increase the share of Black voters in a second congressional district to just below 40 percent, which is neither a majority nor close to it.

And it wasnt just the states lawmakers who brazenly defied the highest court in the land. That would have been (somewhat) understandable since GOP-controlled legislatures are some of the most radical, anti-democratic, and crazy places in the country.

The Sorry State of the GOPs Performance Artist Caucus

These days, they probably rank somewhere between a KKK rally, a QAnon conference, and one of those Nazi-themed parties that Clarence Thomass benefactor Harlan Crow likes to throw.

Therefore, it was conceivable that Alabamas lawmakers would come up with a new map that was as discriminatory as the last one. After all, they have a proud tradition of ...

Israeli forces opened fire on a Palestinian-owned car near Nablus in the occupied West Bank late on Friday, killing a teenager inside and arresting his friend after wounding him.

Fawzi Hani Makhalfa, 18, from Sebastia town northwest of Nablus, was pronounced dead just after midnight on Saturday by the Palestinian health ministry.

Makhalfa was driving a car with his friend, identified as Mohammad Mkhaimer, in the passenger seat when Israeli troops fired more than 40 bullets at them, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society.

Makhalfa was hit with more than one bullet, including one in the head.

The condition of Mkhaimer, who was detained by Israeli soldiers after being shot, was not immediately clear.

Hotel Booking Hacks for Budget Travelers: Save Big on Your Stay "IndyWatch Feed War"

Traveling on a budget doesnt mean compromising on comfort or the quality of your accommodation. With the right strategies and hotel booking hacks, you can save big on your stay without sacrificing the overall travel experience.

In this article, well share some tried-and-tested tips that will empower budget travelers to find great deals on hotels and make the most of their hard-earned money.

  1. Plan and Book in Advance

One of the fundamental rules of budget travel is to plan ahead. Booking your hotel well in advance allows you to take advantage of early bird discounts and avoid last-minute price surges. Many hotels offer attractive deals for those who book months in advance.

For example, international level hotels like Deltin in Daman, offer amazing offers year-around, for all kinds of events like wedding, and more.

By planning your trip early, youll also have a wider range of accommodation options to choose from, ensuring you find the best value for your money.

  1. Be Flexible with Your Travel Dates

Flexibility is key to finding the best hotel deals. If you can, try to be flexible with your travel dates. Prices often vary significantly depending on the time of year, day of the week, and major events happening in the destination. Consider traveling during the off-peak season or on weekdays when prices are generally lower. Websites and apps that allow you to compare prices across different dates can be incredibly useful for this purpose.

  1. Leverage Loyalty Programs

If you frequently stay at the same hotel chain or use a particular booking platform, its worth signing up for their loyalty program. Many hotels offer exclusive discounts, free upgrades, and other perks to their loyal customers. Accumulating reward points can also lead to significant savings or even free stays in the future. Take advantage of these programs to make the most of your hotel bookings.

  1. Consider Alternative Accommodation Options

While hotels are a popular choice for travellers, they are not the only option. Consider alternative accommodation options like hostels, guesthouses, vacation rentals, and even couch surfing. These alternatives can often be more budget-friendly and provide unique experiences that hotels may not offer. Websit...

Most Ukrainian grain does not reach Africa - Italian defense minister "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

Guido Crosetto has warned that if poorer nations do not receive vital food supplies it could destabilize the region. Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto has claimed that only a tiny fraction of Ukraine's grain exports are going to Africa, contrary to the goals of the Black Sea Initiative, causing prices of staple foods on the continent to soar. Speaking to the La Stampa news outlet on Friday, Crosetto was asked if the Ukrainian grain deal, which was recently suspended by Russia, could affect stability in North Africa. The minister replied by pointing out that "everything is connected and it is certainly an element of concern."

These Surfers Want to- Restore Temperate Rainforests to Ireland "IndyWatch Feed World"

All good of course, but unambitious.  The problem here is that it was all scrapped clear by the Ice Age and all those plants mentioned are invasives hardly adjusted to this climate over 10,000 years.  we need to establish one acre silvaculture plots holding a full Pacific northwest planting of doug fir, Red Cedar and even sequois and redwood.  to say nothing about the understory.

What this does if you spread it around is create a natural seed bank to support opportunistic bird dispersal into all the river valleys and other bush lands.  once established decades of seed production and growth will make the true forest well established in hte unsued farmland.

A thousand acres of planting sites will be a thosand separate refuges all over ireland.  then you let nature take its course.

We obviously need to do this along the entire west coast of Wales and Scotland

Solar corona Conjecture "IndyWatch Feed World"

 Solar corona Conjecture

First i want to show you what the oort cloud actually looks like and it contains millions of comets.  Now imagine this sphere is filled by NNPs generated by the Sun.  Then imagine NNP complexes actually decay slowly to produce elements.  All of a sudden we have a handy machina for generating elements in the form of dust.

It is clear that the observed surface of the sun consists of  hydrogen atoms with their electrons decaying to produce visible light as the hydrogen loses energy.  The temperature range is fully inside parameters we know.  So far so good.

then we have the corona whose apparent volume equals that of the sun at least.  I conjecture that this is the zone of NNP ( neutral neutron Pairs) decay to hydrogen which produces a hot proton - neutron  and free electron and one lot of heat as infrared radiation.  We actually experience this heat on Earth folks.  what is important though is in the process the hydrogen is both cooling off and falling into the gravity well.

Understand that i see no reason to expect the NNPs to throw of any energy, so they remain actually cool

Ebi Onome Makes History As First African Footballer To Play In Six FIFA Women World Cup "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

EBI ONOME 2

LAGOS JULY22ND (URHOBOTODAY)-Nigeria defender Onome Ebi says she is still loving her football at the age of 40 as she embarks on a sixth appearance at the Womens World Cup a record for an African player.

The centre-back and caps centurion has played for 10 clubs in a career spanning 23 years.

I enjoy what I do and setting records, and to get a chance to play in my sixth World Cup feels unreal, Ebi told BBC Sport Africa.

All my hard work and dedication is paying off and it feels good.

After making her debut at the 2003 World Cup in the United States at the age of 20, she has become a mainstay of the Super Falcons defence, also playing in the 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019 tournaments.

At the finals in France in 2019, Ebi became the first African player man or woman to appear at the World Cup five times.

At my first World Cup, in 2003, I never ever imagined that I would be playing in my sixth. This is like a dream come true, she added.

An African record breaker

Three other players have travelled to the Womens World Cup six times, with two of them Brazils Marta and Christine Sinclair of Canada also at this years tournament in Australia and New Zealand. Japans Homare Sawa played at her sixth and final World Cup tournament in 2015.

However, none of those players can match the all-time record held by Brazil midfielder Formiga, who appeared at seven consecutive tournaments between 1995 and 2019.

It takes more than 20 years of playing top football to play in six tournaments. Its huge, said Ebi.

When youre dedicated and disciplined, it can take you beyond your wildest imagination.

As she extends her African record, Ebi remains as important to the team as she ever has been.

A rock at the back and an immeasurable influence on those around her, she has also developed into an attacking threat from set-pieces.

I love this game and I always wanted to give my best and continue for as long as possible, she said.

Barbie More than Just a Doll? "IndyWatch Feed Politics.eu"

My 20-year-old daughter became quite indignant listing in the car to radio discussions about the new Barbie film. Did the doll create image problems for young girls? Should it promote feminism? Was the film accepting Chinese control of the South China Sea?

As I listened, I could see her point. Are culture-war-obsessed adults in danger of drowning out the joy and creativity children can have playing with dolls, or that young adults can have in remembering their childhoods?

I fully accept that a doll can have some influence on childrens perceptions of normal, but lets be realistic. I remember my surprise as a 7-year-old when a doll with dark skin appeared in our house. However, I also remember how my daughter ignored Barbies appearance and used and adapted her Barbie dolls to fit in with what she wanted.

She got two Barbies one Christmas one of these she christened Ballerina and the other identical female doll became a boy called Tom. When I put her to bed I would watch as she got Ballerina and Tom playing together, often irritating her because I could not work out which one was Tom. Eventually she drew a small green moustache on Tom so that I could tell them apart, but her imagination was in control and she was shaping the dolls to meet her needs.

Tom and Ballerina stayed with her for several years, even going on holiday with us to Scotland where she lost Ballerina in Holyrood House. Luckily, we were rescued by the security staff who put out a radio message to search all rooms and Ballerina was recovered safely.

The Barbie film provoked nostalgia in my daughter and myself. She told me that she used her dolls most evenings to act out scenarios from books, school or TV, apparently including one occasion where Ballerina and Tom had to decide whether to have an abortion. (Perhaps we were lax in supervising her TV viewing.) She would report that playing with dolls was a great way of letting her imagination take control and allowed her to explore issues. She told me that girls just like dressing up dolls and doing make-up, etc, that femininity and feminism are not mutually exclusive.

Perhaps, we old people should just relax and let the young people enjoy their nostalgic reunion with Barbie.

German media self-censors about foreign origins of 5 Germans arrested for rape of young girl in Mallorca, and this trend will only get worse "IndyWatch Feed War"

John Cody Remix News July 17, 2023

Over the weekend, after the international media loudly trumpeted that five German men were arrested for raping an 18-year-old Spanish girl, it was quickly revealed that all of the men have a migration background. Nevertheless, the vast majority of news outlets referred to the men as Germans and most made no mention of the fact that the men had a migration background, with many outlets even referring to them as a German pack.

While Spanish news outlet Ultima Hora reported that the 21- to 23-year-old suspects were of Turkish origin, much of the Spanish press was fixated on the German aspect of the crime, which the men allegedly filmed on their smartphones. Even the German press was quick to claim the men were Germans with no context, with Welt, one of the most popular conservative papers in the country, running the headline Five German vacationers on Mallorca have to be remanded in custody. At no point in the piece does Welt mention the migration background of the suspects. The same story was told throughout the international press, with Associated Press, Deutsche Welle, and the Daily Mail making no mention of the mens migration background.

Bild newspaper was perhaps the only major German newspaper to note that the men all had a migration background, but Bild is one of the rare publications in Germany that consistently publishes such information when it is made available by the police.

Why it matters

The issue of migrant men, or those with a migration background, being portrayed simply as Germans when it comes to crime has been a theme over recent years, but we should expect this trend to continue and only get worse. The reason why is that the German government is quickly naturalizing hundreds of thousands of migrants, and as Remix News has reported in the past, once these foreigners obtain German citizenship, they are simply referred to as Germans in the crime statistics. The Guardian: Avoid Using The Term Wealthy Elite And Instead Say The Powerful Few to Not Trigger Antisemitism "IndyWatch Feed War"

Chris Menahan Information Liberation July 19, 2023

Criticizing the wealthy elite is anti-Semitic, according to new speech codes from the Reframing Race initiative covered by the Guardian on Tuesday.

From The Guardian, Avoid phrases that link negativity with blackness, anti-racism report recommends:

Phrases and words that link negativity with blackness and positivity with whiteness such as black mood, dark times or whiter than white reinforce racist connotations and should be avoided, an anti-racism initiative has recommended.

Reframing Race has put together a report titled Contains Strong Language to equip anti-racism and racial inequality campaigners with the words that have proven most effective in persuading people of the harm and structural nature of racism.

The guide says associating whiteness with purity, cleanliness and goodness, and blackness with evil and destruction serves to reinforce harmful tropes and the constructed racial hierarchy in which black and minoritised people are pushed to the bottom.

It also suggests using images or visual descriptions that apply only to white people such as blushing red, ashen faces or lips turning blue risks othering black or minoritised people and should be avoided.

[] Other recommendations include avoiding the phrase white working class and rather using multi-ethnic working class or working-class people of all ethnicities because the use of the former wrongly excludes black and minoritised people from the class group.

It also suggests avoiding the use of the term wealthy elite and rather saying the powerful few as the former phrase can trigger antisemitism and feed the conspiracy theories of far-right white nationalists.

Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz said a few years ago he prefers the term people of means.

Instead of using the word racism, campaigners should talk about the ideology of racism or the practice of racism as overuse of the standalone term racism without additional information or context can create an unavoidable fog.

FIFA Begs Fans to Do the Right Thing and Buy Tickets as Womens World Cup Gets Underway with Many Unsold Seats "IndyWatch Feed War"

Jim Baker The Gateway Pundit July 20, 2023

With the Womens World Cup getting underway Thursday, CNN reported Wednesday that FIFA was still struggling to sell tickets to the monthlong event, which is being co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

In an effort to turn that around, FIFA President Gianni Infantino implored New Zealanders to purchase tickets for the womens soccer showcase.

New Zealand, we want you. We need you, Infantino said during a news conference Wednesday in Auckland.

Its never too late to do the right thing. Come to watch the matches. We need full stadiums to warm us all up, he added, emphasizing the significance of enthusiastic support from the home crowd.

Joining Infantino was FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura, who echoed his sentiments and encouraged Kiwis not to delay in securing their tickets.

We still have tickets available for some matches, so my only plea is dont wait until the last moment, Samoura said.

As part of the efforts to entice fans to attend the matches, the accounting firm Xero, an official partner of the Womens World Cup, offered 20,000 free tickets for games in New Zealands four host cities, according to CNN.

While the complimentary ticket allocation has been fully utilized, the remaining tickets left unsold indicate interest in the event remains low.

The exact reason is unclear.

The Associated Press noted that the countrys Football Ferns have never won a World Cup group match.

A larger problem, it said, is that soccer is not generally a widely supported sport in New Zealand and attracting fans to stadiums in the coldest months of the year was always going to be a hard sell.

In the United States, the womens soccer team has alienated many conservative fans with liberal political rants and social justice advocacy.

Infantino, in his unwavering support for the womens game, continued to promote the sport in an effort to sell more tickets.

He confidently addressed the skepticism people have for womens soccer, saying, Many people still believe that womens football is not, you know, great, a great game or its not so entertaining or its a kind of a bad copy of mens football, or some stuff like that. Well, when they watch a game for the first time, they will actually see that its a fantastic game.

Richard Lynn: A Wonderful Man and a Great Scientist "IndyWatch Feed War"

Jared Taylor The Unz Review July 21, 2023

Yesterday, I was grieved to learn of the death on July 17 of the great psychologist Richard Lynn. I was also shocked. It should never be a shock when a 93-year-old man dies, but Richard seemed indestructible. He was writing books in his 90s, and just this spring we exchanged email, but not even Richard Lynn was immortal. He leaves behind an immense body of work, a host of friends and admirers, his wonderful wife and helpmeet Joyce, and many children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Richard is, of course, best known for IQ studies. He was fascinated by IQ differences not just between individuals, but between groups, regions, nations, races, and the sexes. Probably no one since Francis Galton has looked more deeply into the causes and consequences of the unequal distribution of intelligence. Like Galton, Richard feared for the future of our species if people of low intelligence and bad character continued to outbreed people of high intelligence and good character.

I do not believe Richard ever presented a finding or published an option that was not anathema to the orthodox, and this won him torrents of criticism. If the Southern Poverty Law Center can be believed and in this case perhaps it can be Leon Kamin of Harvard reportedly accused him of truly venomous racism, combined with the scandalous disregard for scientific objectivity. That about sums up the conventional view.

Richard Lynn was born in 1930 in Hampstead, England. His father was a distinguished plant breeder and geneticist who wrote for scientific journals. His father understood that genetics apply also to humans and was one of the signatories of The Geneticists Manifesto drawn up by Hermann Muller in 1939, which asked, How could the worlds population be improved genetically?

Richard attended Cambridge, where he earned bachelors, masters, and doctorate degrees in psychology. By the late 1960s, he was already wondering why certain groups seemed to build better societies than others, and was impressed by Arthur Jensens famous 1969 Harvard Educational Review paper on black-white IQ differences. Richards views were also influenced by Hans Eysenck and even by Sir Cyril Burt, though their first meeting was intimidating: Burt was an exa...

Detransitioned boy castrated by doctors warns kids about perils of gender ideology: Patient for life "IndyWatch Feed War"

Hannah Grossman and Ashley Carnahan Fox News July 2023

I was expecting it to help me help my mental health, and it didnt do anything. I just wasted so much time and all I did really was become a medical patient for life

A young male, who formerly identified as a transwoman, who was castrated and became a patient for life as part of gender-affirming care, wants to warn others not to follow in his footsteps. He discussed his story of resilience and learning to accept himself for who he is for the first time with Fox News Digital.

Kobe, whose name is being withheld for privacy reasons, had checked every box for what they call a trans adolescent. He was always effeminate and loved pink and playing with Barbies. If he was never exposed to gender ideology, he says hed probably would have just stayed a feminine boy. And theres nothing wrong with that.

I felt unlovable as an effeminate man in society and everything. A feminine boy, actually. I was never a man, Im trying to reclaim my manhood now and everything. Its hard. I have breasts, I have the hip development of a woman because I started the estrogen young. I have no gonads. You know, its hard. My skull never really masculinized.

Kobe, in retrospect, looks back at the medical interventions as a subconscious use of self-harm. During his early teenage years, he was struggling with internalized homophobia. I mean, I saw it as a way out of my homosexuality if that makes any sense.

However, he didnt realize these truths until he got his surgery.

I was like, Oh, wow, this is so great. Im locked in my transition But then everything started to crack and I couldnt ignore the complications, Kobe said. I couldnt ignore that I mutilated myself pretty much with the permission of a psychiatrist. Its insane now, looking back. Its just self-harm, you know.

Kobe first encountered the idea of switching genders on YouTube.

And I said, Oh, you can do this. You know, I dont have to be a gay guy. I dont have to be an embarrassment. And all this horrible stuff that I thought about my homosexuality, and it was like a light bulb. It was like, this is a way out, he sa...

Russia plans to start testing its digital ruble CBDC this summer "IndyWatch Feed War"

Cassie B. Natural News July 2023

Russian lawmakers have approved the development of a digital ruble, and it could begin testing later this summer. While the bill has already passed through Russias higher legislative body, it must obtain a signature from President Vladimir Putin before it can go into effect.

The Russian central bank reportedly plans to launch a test of the digital ruble involving 15 lenders. Businesses and consumers alike will be given the ability to open a digital wallet using the central banks platform that they can access through Russian banks.

As a central bank digital currency, or CBDC, the digital ruble would be a centralized token whose value is tied to the countrys fiat currency.

The digital ruble pilot comes against the landscape of ongoing economic sanctions against the country due to its war with Ukraine that are making it challenging to conduct business. For example, major corporations like Visa and MasterCard have cut ties with Russia. Meanwhile, its domestic payment system, which is known as Mir, is only accepted by a few countries.

Although the digital rubles original planned use was for retail purposes, testing is expected to focus on cross-border payments as Russia looks for ways to skirt economic sanctions.

The Russian central bank first signaled its interest in developing a digital currency in 2017, but it was not considered a major priority at the time. However, in 2022, the Russian central bank announced that it would be introducing a digital ruble by 2024, implementing the currency in stages with the support of thorough testing and the development of appropriate infrastructure. The central bank indicated that the digital ruble would coexist with traditional non-cash and cash payment systems so that consumers would have greater flexibility.

An earlier launch of the pilot was delayed, and the bill was amended so the digital ruble could be used by foreigners rather than being limited to residents. The current framework gives the Russian central bank the position of primary operator of the infrastructure as well as responsibility for keeping stored assets secure.

Those who use the digital ruble will not be able to open savings accounts with it as it is intended to serve as a method of making transfers and payments. While individual customers will not be charged for payments or transfers with the CBDC, corporate clients will be charged a 0.3 percent fee.

Bank of Russia First Deputy Governor Olga Skorobogatova said every citizen should have access to digital rubles sometime between 2025 and 2027, with a more specific timeline depending on how prepared individual banks are to adopt the required infrastructure.

Nigerians Boycott CBDCs "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

HenryMakow.com July 21, 2023

As the numbers show, less than 1 in 10,000 Nigerians uses the eNaira on a weekly basis, even though the Nigerian government is promoting it heavily, limiting cash withdrawals to $45/day, and creating a huge cash shortage in Nigeria as the CBN is not printing new bills and taking away the old ones.

by Edward Menez (henrymakow.com)

NIGERIANS DONT TRUST THEIR GOVERNMENTS CBDC

The Nigerian government became the second government in the world to release a CBDC. So far, it hasnt proven successful:

Launched in October 2021, the eNaira became the worlds second public CBDC, after the Bahamas Sand Dollar project. Two months away from a second anniversary, the digital currency is still struggling with adoption. A recent IMF report showed that the average number of eNaira transactions is about 14,000 per weekonly 1.5% of the number of wallets. This suggests that 98.5% of wallets, for any given week, have not been used even once. These numbers reflect a disappointingly low adoption.

https://techcabal.com/2023/07/13/enaira-blockchain-currency-low-adoption/

But its even worse than that: There are only 13 million wallets in Nigeria for a country with over 200 million people.  So only 6-7% of the population even has a wallet.  And only 1.5% of those wallets are being used each week,

Over A Thousand Top Scientists Conclude There Is No Climate Emergency There Is Only The PSYOP-CLIMATE-CHANGE Depopulation Scam "IndyWatch Feed War"

2nd Smartest Guy in the World July 21, 2023

Over a thousand top scientists from around the world, including Nobel Prize winners, sign the World Climate Declaration. They state there is no climate emergency. It as a con to consolidate resources, and ultimately achieve mass depopulation.

Readers of this Substack appreciate that in 1968 the One World Government created The Club of Rome. This technocratic node, along with the WEF, UN, CFR, Rockefeller Crime Syndicate, and various captured governments would promote the climate fear project in order to convince humanity that they are responsible for all things weather. By duping the population into believing such anti-science nonsense, society would live in an perpetual state of self-loathing and fear. This would allow for all those that Trust the Psyop to be far more easily controlled (think pandemic, DEATHVAX, child sex reassignment surgeries, etc.), and have a far greater propensity to not reproduce.

World Climate Declaration plus all signatories in pdf

Climate science should be less political, while climate policies should be more scientific. In particular, scientists should emphasize that their modeling output is not the result of magic: computer models are human-made. What comes out is fully dependent on what theoreticians and programmers have put in: hypotheses, assumptions, relationships, parameterizations, stability constraints, etc. Unfortunately, in mainstream climate science most of this input is undeclared.

To believe the outcome of a climate model is to believe what the model makers have put in.  This is precisely the problem of todays climate discussion to which climate models are central. Climate science has degenerated into a discussion based on beliefs, not on sound self-critical science. We should free ourselves from the nave belief in immature climate models. In future, climate research must give significantly more emphasis to empirical science.

There is no climate emergency

A global network of over 1501 scientists and professionals has prepared this urgent message. Climate science should be less political, while climate policies should be more scientific. Scientists should openly address uncertainties and exaggerations in their predictions of global warming, while politicians should dispassionately count the real costs as well as the imagined benefits of their policy measures.

Greek Seas: Europes Largest Migrant Cemetery "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

An Egyptian boat set sail from the city of Tobruk, in Libya, on June 9, 2023. The overcrowded Adriana is carrying more than 600 refugees from Pakistan, Egypt, Syria and Libya. The vast majority of them are held in the cargo hold. Some will pay an extra $55 to luckily travel on deck.

Hellenic (Greek) Coast Guard and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (commonly referred as Frontex) spot Adriana in Greek SAR (Search and Rescue zone) on Tuesday morning, June 13, and start monitoring its movement. Its another ship with poor infrastructure that will pass through Greek waters destined for Kalavria, Italy. However, its story ends up differently.

Adriana in distress photo released by Hellenic Coast Guard.

A call from the boat was made to The Med Alarm Phone, an emergency hotline for refugees in danger at the Mediterranean Sea, stating that the boat is in distress. Based on information from Frontex at 09:47 UTC, the ship was navigating north-east at slow speeds of 6 knots. Several calls were made and the first was received at 12:17 GMT, a few hours after Greek authorities had spotted the ship.

After the first call, three boats reached Adriana in attempts to provide help. The first one, Lucky Sailor, after being enlisted by the Greek coast guard, provided food and water around 15:00 local time. The Greek coast guard visits the ship a few minutes later and reported that the boat is moving.

Based on Marine Traffic data that BBC have verified, more than two hours later, around 18:00, a ship called Faithful Warrior that was located in the same spot as the Lucky Sailor and also enlisted by Greek authorities, provided some more food and water to the refugees calling for rescue.

While the refugees contact Alarm Phone, the smugglers in charge of Adriana deny rescue and any other help from the Greek authorities. In most cases they are paid after the transfer is...

UN Secretary General Says the World is in a New Era Marked by the Highest Major Power Competition in Decades

BY EDITH M. LEDERER

9:24 PM EDT, July 20, 2023

UNITED NATIONS (AP) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told the worlds nations Thursday that the post-Cold War period is over and the world is moving toward a new multipolar era already marked by the highest level of geopolitical tensions and major power competition in decades.

He warned that these divisions are undermining the cornerstone of the United Nations having all countries work together to solve global challenges.

The U.N. chief ticked off a host of challenges more complex and deadly conflicts, re-emerging concerns about possible nuclear war, growing inequalities within and between countries, widespread terrorism, the climate emergency, mounting distrust in public institutions, and human rights under attack globally including a pernicious pushback against womens rights.

The secretary-general said Russias February 2022 invasion of Ukraine has made it even more difficult to address these challenges. And without naming Russia he clearly criticized it, saying if every country fulfilled its obligations under the U.N. Charter -- which include respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations the right to peace would be guaranteed.

Guterres presented his grim view of the world in a policy paper outlining his New Agenda for Peace to diplomats from the U.N.s 193 member states. It is the U.N.s attempt to address the new threats, he said.

The U.N. chief stressed the critical importance of preserving multi...

Separatist Attack Kills 10 in Northwestern Cameroon, Regional Governor Says

BY EDWIN KINDZEKA MOKI

10:18 AM EDT, July 17, 2023

YAOUNDE, Cameroon (AP) Armed separatists wearing military uniforms killed 10 civilians and wounded three in an attack at a crowded intersection in Cameroons volatile northwest, the regional governor said on Monday.

The killings took place on Sunday in Bamenda, the regions capital, according to the governor, Debben Tchoffo. The victims included a couple of newlyweds, he said. Eight people died at the scene and two more later in hospital.

For the past six years, the protracted armed conflict known as the Anglophone crisis has devastated communities across Cameroons two English-speaking regions, officially called Northwest and Southwest, as armed separatists clash with government forces.

Following a crackdown on peaceful protests in 2016, armed rebel groups mobilized and vowed to fight for the independence of the Anglophone areas, which they call Ambazonia.

Human Rights Watch estimates that as of 2022, at least 4,000 civilians have died and more than 700,000 were displaced by the violence.

The governor said the attackers behind Sundays killings were trying to create panic among civilians who have been collaborating with the military by reporting suspected separatists. Tchoffo said a search was underway for the attackers.

Supporters of the two sides traded accusations for the killings on social media. A video from the scene shows bodies of those killed lying on the ground as passersby look on, many taking photos with their smartphones. Some were crying.

The Associated Press could not independently verify the authenticity of the video though Tchoffo confirmed the video was from the scene of Sundays attack.

Climate and Violence Hobble Nigerias Push to Rely on its Own Wheat After the Hit from Western Sanctions and Ukraine War Involving Russia

Nigeria introduced programmes before and during Russias war in Ukraine to make Africas largest economy self-reliant in wheat production, but climate fallout and insecurity has hindered those efforts. (July 14-17; AP video shot by: AP video shot by Dan Ikpoyi)

BY TAIWO ADEBAYO

3:14 AM EDT, July 19, 2023

ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) Abubakar Salisu was terrified when he discovered arid sand in the middle of his farmland, rendering a broad strip unfit for crops. Now, extreme heat is killing his wheat before it is ready for cultivation.

Wheat normally requires heat, but in the last three years, farmers in Nigerias far north, part of Africas Sahel region that largely produces the countrys homegrown food, have seen an alarming increase in heat much more than required, said Salisu, a local leader of wheat farmers in Kaita, Katsina State. Plus, rain is irregular.

The unpredictable rain pattern is affecting us because wheat is planted immediately after the rainy season, but sometimes we will plant it thinking the rain has stopped, only to have it start again, thereby spoiling the seeds, said Salisu, 48.

The vicious heat and rain cycle, worsened by climate change, has contributed to his wheat yield dropping in half.

He is not alone others in northern areas ripped apart by violence suffer even more. Conflict and climate change are driving a food security crisis in Nigeria, exacerbated by supply disruptions tied to Russias war in Ukraine. It means people are spending more for food in Africas largest economy as it becomes more reliant on imported grain, which is priced in U.S. dollars, and its currency weakens.

Nigeria is trying to become self-sufficient: The government has launched programs to provide loans to farmers and boost domestic grain production. But extreme weather and violence from both...

Dutch Museum Exhibit on Ancient Egypt in Music with Beyonc Enrages Cairo

A photo of superstar Beyonce dressed as Queen Nefertiti sits next to ancient busts. It is seen here at the "Kemet" exhibition at Leiden's Rijksmuseum van Oudheden.

Africa News

In a Dutch museum the sound of hip-hop blares out next to sarcophagi and statues, in what curators say is an attempt to show the influence of ancient Egypt on black musicians.

A photo of superstar Beyonc dressed as Queen Nefertiti sits next to ancient busts, while a video of Rihanna channels Egyptian styles.

What appears to be a pharaoh's golden mask turns out to be a modern sculpture based on the cover of an album by the rapper Nas.

But the "Kemet" exhibition at Leiden's Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (National Museum of Antiquities) has enraged Egypt, which has reportedly banned the museum's archaeologists from a dig at a key site.

Egypt's antiquities service said the museum is "falsifying history" with its "Afrocentric" approach, which seeks to appropriate Egyptian culture, Dutch media reported.

The museum said it had meanwhile been hit with comments on social media that were "racist or offensive in nature" after the row blew up in Egypt.

And so what was meant to be an empowering celebration of "Egypt in hip-hop, jazz, soul and funk" has instead become a culture war.

Assistant Professor University of Amsterdam, specialist in political geography with a regional focus on the Middle East and North Africa analyzes the reactions: " From what I can see it has been sort of viewed in a very particular light by the government back in Egypt."

"I think it's, it's important for us to, as you say to kind of move away from this more Eurocentric perspective through which Egypt's history has been viewed," Dr Ali Hamdan added.

The exhibition explores music by black artists including record album covers, photographs and contemporary artworks.

There are walls of album covers showing the influence of ancient Egypt on artists including Tina Turner, Earth Wind and Fire and Miles Davis, an...

Hollywood Strike: Actors, Writers Take Rallies to Philadelphia

Africa News

Striking screenwriters and actors rallied in Philadelphia as the labor dispute that has halted Hollywood spreads to more cities.

While Los Angeles and New York are the epicenters of strike actions, there are dozens of mid-sized and small locals across the country representing performers and writers.

The Philadelphia rally at Love Park drew actors Sheryl Lee Ralph and Lisa Ann Walter, stars of the hit Philly-set TV show Abbott Elementary. This is not about your favorite stars on TV or in motion pictures. 80% of our union is made up of plain, old ordinary people trying to make a living. actor Sheryl Lee Ralph said.

Actors David Morse also attended. They had excuses VHS. They had excuses DVD. They had excuses of cable. There was always an excuse why they couldnt make our lives better. AI is the one now." Morse told the crowd. "Now if AI eliminates background workers, writers, if they eliminate jobs, who's going to, who's going to stream? Who's going to be able to afford their cable bills? They are making our lives worse while they are making their lives better.

Leaders of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) voted unanimously last week to start striking, joining the Writers Guild of America, who walked out on May 2.

Key issues for both unions include residual payments, which have been nearly wiped out by the switch to the streaming system, and the unpaid use of their work and likeness by artificial intelligence avatars.

Sudanese Army Strikes RSF Troops in Khartoum and North Kordofan

Sudanese army chopper attacks RSF positions in Khartoum on April 22, 2023

July 20, 2023 (EL-OBEID, KHARTOUM) The Sudanese army launched air strikes on Thursday against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum and North Kordofan states as ground troops continue to engage with paramilitary fighters.

Since the eruption of the conflict, the Sudanese air forces have targeted the RSF positions in Khartoum and have reduced the arrival of their reinforcements from reaching the capital. However, recently, they operate also in strategic North Kordofan.

On Thursday, aerial bombardments were concentrated near Sports City in the south of Khartoum and in Ombada, west of Omdurman, as well as in North Khartoum and East Nile cities of Khartoum state.

Eyewitnesses reported that the airstrikes persisted into Thursday evening, with additional bombings in Omdurmans Libyas Market and the Al-Jeraif East and Southern Belt areas.

The escalating military attacks unfolded in parallel with renewed mediation efforts by U.S. and Saudi officials in Jeddah, seeking a ceasefire agreement to pave the way for political negotiations between the conflicting parties.

The army also accused the RSF of shelling residential areas south of Khartoum with mortar shells and spreading false videos to deceive the public.

The Sudanese army accused the RSF of seeking to use the bombs that inadvertently hit some houses during the attacks on the position of the paramilitary position in residential neighbourhoods.

Combing and special operations in central Khartoum were declared ongoing, with the regular forces successfully clearing RSF positions in southern Omdurman and eliminating their vehicles. Clashes in the Abu Saad area in Omdurman and Jabra in Khartoum killed 18 militiamen.

Combing operations in central Khartoum continue as planned, said the military spokesman adding that the regular forces reclaimed positions in sout...

Sudans Kiir in Talks with SPLM-N over South Kordofan Attacks

South Sudan's President Salva Kiir (Getty)

July 20, 2023 (JUBA) South Sudans President Salva Kiir is in talks with the Sudan Peoples Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) leaders following reports of resumption of hostilities in South Kordofan and Blue Nile states, an aide said.

The presidential advisor on national security, Tut Gatluak Manime told Sudan Tribune on Thursday that Kiir discussed with SPLM-N leaders prospects for peace and the need to cease military hostilities in the two areas and the whole of Sudan.

The president has been engaging different leaders who participated and signed the Juba Peace agreement, including those who did not sign it to update them on his regional activities and his efforts to solicit their views on the comprehensive approach following his participation in the recent summit of the heads of state and government from countries sharing direct borders with Sudan, he explained.

A supporter of the SPLM-N faction led by Abdel Aziz Adam Al-Hilu claimed they do not attack territories held by Sudan armed forces, but are trying to provide protection to areas under their control to avoid what happens in Darfur, where civilians and civil settlements as used shields by armed groups fighting each other.

The SPLM-N is the peoples movement and it has the right and responsibilities to protect lives and properties of the people under its control. This is what is happening in South Kordofan and Blue Nile areas.  As far as I know, the SPLA-N gallant forces do not carry out attacks. They dont attack government-held territories, they are protecting our own legitimate territory, the supporter who preferred anonymity owing to the sensitivity of the matter, told Sudan Tribune.

The SPLM-N and the Sudanese government had previously signed an agreement to halt hostilities, allowing humanitarian aid access to the region from Suda...

Turkey Aid Agency Delivers Humanitarian Aid to Sudan

An assortment of relief items delivered sent to war-hit Sudan (Getty)

July 19, 2023 (KHARTOUM) A Turkish aid agency has shipped 15 containers of relief materials to Sudan, where conflict has displaced 3 million people.

In a statement extended to Sudan Tribune, the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) said food, hygiene products and blankets were sent by sea to the country.

About 200,000 people will benefit from this aid, partly reads the statement.

Sudan has been ravaged by clashes between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since April, while several cease-fire deals brokered by Saudi and U.S mediators between the warring rivals have failed to end the violence.

Last week, nearly 20,000 people were displaced by fighting in Sudan, the United Nations citing figures from the International Organization of Migration (IOM) said.

Overall, it said, more than 2.6 million people have been internally displaced since the start of the conflict between the rival military factions in Sudan on 15 April.

The UN refugee agency (UNHCR) said over 730,000 people have fled Sudan for neighbouring nations, amid warnings the conflict may spiral into a full-scale civil war.

UN Relief Chief Urges Safe Humanitarian Access in Sudan

Sudanese people have taken shelter at refugee entry points in several neighboring states including Chad

July 19, 2023 (KHARTOUM) Parties involved in the conflict in Sudan must guarantee safe humanitarian access as misery deepens for civilians, Martin Griffiths, the United Nations Emergency Relief Coordinator said in a statement.

He warned that Sudan, one of the worlds most difficult places for humanitarian operations, will be worse off as the conflict enters its fourth month, despite concerted efforts by local organizations and international aid groups.

Griffiths said suffering of people in Sudan will end only when the fighting ends.

The parties involved in the conflict must adhere to the Declaration of Commitments they signed in Jeddah, which seeks to safeguard civilians and uphold international humanitarian law, he stressed.

According to the UN official, the conflict has displaced more than 3 million people in Sudan, half of them children, both inside and outside the country. Furthermore, 13.6 million children remaining in Sudan urgently need humanitarian assistance.

He said the recent discovery of a mass grave near El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur, as the latest evidence pointing to the resurgence of ethnic killings in the region.

This should be a stark reminder of the historical atrocities witnessed during the Darfur conflict, he emphasised.

The conflict between Sudans army and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since April 15 has killed over 3,000 civilians and displaced 3 million, according to the UN.

Up to 25 million people in Sudan need humanitarian aid and protection, the UN say.

Free Press, Propaganda and Censorship "IndyWatch Feed War"

In war, truth is the first casualty.

Aeschylus, Greek tragic dramatist (525 BC 456 BC)

How many of us learn about Russia from a Russian point of view? Or about Syria from a loyal Syrian? Or Cuba from a Cuban supporter? Or Iran, Nicaragua, North Korea, China or many others on our current list of adversaries, from the point of view of those adversaries? We supposedly pride ourselves on listening to both or many sides of an issue before forming an opinion (or, better still, a sound analysis). Its the core of our system of justice, however flawed. Its why we value free speech.

Its not that the viewpoints we commonly hear are not different from each other, or that we dont hear from people with foreign accents from the parts of the world in question. Its that mainstream news, information and analysis are from a very narrow spectrum. The differences in the viewpoints are in the details, not the fundamentals. In the case of Ukraine, for example, the differences are mainly about how, and how much, to support Ukraine, not whether to do so. Do we hear the Russian view that they were compelled to come to the rescue of Ukraines Russian population, which was being massacred by racist, pro-Nazi elements running the Ukrainian government and supported by NATO? Not from the mainstream news, we dont.

Similarly, when we hear from nationals of adversary countries, our media rarely offer space or air time to persons who represent the adversarial point of view. We are rather more likely to hear from exiles seeking to overthrow the government and hoping for western support. When have we heard from a representative of Hezbollah or Hamas? Or of the government of China or North Korea, or the Sandinista government of Nicaragua? The point is not whether their point of view is correct or whether we decide that its reasonable or not, but rather whether we even know what it is, and whether we try to understand it. Isnt that what were supposed to do in order to negotiate with our adversaries, solve our differences and achieve peace? The closest we come to that in our media is to invite such representatives to an on-air ambush where we browbeat them and shout them down instead of listening to them.

But its worse than that. Our vaunted free press closes down the offices and facilities of journalists from countries or movements selected for vilification, and blocks their websites within the boundaries of our country. Thus, the Russian RT media channel and the Iranian Press TV, among others, are no longer permitted to operate within most western countries. Apparently, their words are considered hazardous to western ears. Similarly, many journalists and other individuals have found themselves banned from western-based social media for revealing unwelcome facts or contradicting official truth. Many have been banned from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other platforms.

Its not just...

Clinical Trial Documents Suggest Moderna Skimped on Autopsies, Discounted Serious Injuries Did FDA Know? "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Michael Nevradakis, Ph.D. | The Defender | July 20, 2023

13,685-page tranche of documents related to Modernas COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials released Tuesday contain details about the deaths of 16 trial participants, the prevalence of severe adverse events (SAEs) and other abnormalities.

The documents, previously submitted by Moderna to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as part of the licensing process for Modernas Spikevax COVID-19 vaccine, also exposed an utter lack of thoroughness in how the trials were conducted, according to Defending the Republic (DTR), a Dallas-based nonprofit that obtained the documents via a a still-pending Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against Moderna.

The documents, shared with The Defender in advance of their public release, are the first set of Moderna documents to be released as part of the lawsuit with approximately 8,000 more pages expected to follow later this year.

Travis Miller, a Fort Worth-based attorney representing DTR, told The Defender, These documents include over 13,500 pages relating to serious adverse event listings that  document injuries such as shingles and Bells palsy and other more serious conditions which we believe may be related to the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

DTR also received documents describing  experiments involving mRNA injections on rats in 2017-2018, prior to the onset of COVID-19. Miller told The Defender these studies revealed fetal abnormalities in pregnant rats.

Dr. Meryl Nass, an internist, biological warfare epidemiologist and member of the Childrens Health Defense scientific advisory committee, said the Moderna clinical trial data bear similarities to the outcomes seen in the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine trials, and raise several questions about safety and liability.

Nass told The Defender :

Both the preclinical (animal) studies of Moderna and of Pfizer revealed skeletal abnormalities in the offspring of vaccinated mice and rats at higher-than-normal rates and revealed vaccine components travelled throughout the body into all organs.

Tourists Help Scientists Find Microplastics on Remote Arctic Beaches "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

Citizen scientists visiting the Arctic have assisted an international research team in finding microplastics on remote beaches for a new study.

The amount of plastic being produced all over the world has led to the tiny pieces of plastic debris being found everywhere, including in sea ice, inside nature reserves and on the floor of the ocean.

Scientists are afraid ocean currents will cause plastic accumulation in the Arctic, damaging long-established and fragile ecosystems.

Plastic pollution is now ubiquitous. It is found on land and in soil and most rivers of the world, said Dr. Bruno Walther of the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Center for Polar and Marine Research and lead author of the study, as Frontiers reported. It is even found in the polar oceans and the deepest ocean trenches.

In order to fill in gaps in their knowledge of the type and scale of microplastics polluting the Arctic, the researchers asked tourists on cruises to collect samples.

The study, Citizen scientists reveal small but concentrated amounts of fragmented microplastic on Arctic beaches, was published in the journal Frontiers in Environmental Science.

In 2016, 2017, 2021 and 2022, four cruises carrying tourists visited the Svalbard archipelago the northernmost landmass in Europe and collected samples of sediment, reported Frontiers.

At first, metal tools were used to take single samples from beaches and sent, along with photographs and metadata, to record samplin......

Antarcticas Threatening Winter "IndyWatch Feed War"

Rolling Stone

In the dead of winter, the Antarctic Peninsula, an 800-mile extension of the Antarctic continent, temperatures hit 32F. 1

Global warming has been on a hot streak, accelerating its record-setting impact on the planet over the past couple of years. And even though its winter down below, Antarctica has joined the party. The icy continent, as large as the U.S. and Mexico combined, is the coldest continent on Earth with a mean annual interior temperature of -71F.

According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), despite mid-winter conditions, Antarcticas sea ice is at record lows; in fact, 17% below average for this time of year. Alas, only recently, within the past few years, scientists believed East Antarctica, the mother ship of the continent, solid, unwavering, the coldest place on Earth nearly impregnable to any kind of crash for the foreseeable future. But that theory has been tossed out because it does not hold up any longer. 2

Over the decades, ice shelf collapse in East Antarctica was not a concern. On the other hand, West Antarcticas geological setting is a different story with brand-name glaciers Pine Island Glacier and Thwaites Glacier tipsy, threatening, under scrutiny.

Yet, in 2022 the Conger Ice Shelf/East Antarctica bit the dust. The Conger collapse is the first observed in East Antarctica since the era of satellite imagery began in 1979, said Catherine Walker, a glaciologist at Woods Hole...

Het Beginselloze Extremisme van D'66 "IndyWatch Feed War"

PETER BREEDVELD BEWEERT:

https://www.frontaalnaakt.nl/archives/frans-timmermans-kan-het-einde-van-de-domrechtse-ijstijd-zijn.html?fbclid=IwAR3scCgw5VWtGOnHTyKkzeVyRmOG1ZmV3yHc1GPihGb2F71pdLeZda6aqFU

Keine Alternative "IndyWatch Feed Europe"

The Free Speech Scare "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Jeffrey A. Tucker | Brownstone Institute | July 21, 2023

It was a strange experience watching the House hearing in which Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. was testifying. The topic was censorship and how and to what extent federal government agencies under two administrations muscled social media companies to take down posts, ban users, and throttle content. The majority made its case.

What was strange was the minority reaction throughout. They tried to shut down RFK. They moved to go to executive session so that the public could not hear the proceedings. The effort failed. Then they shouted over his words when they were questioning him. They wildly smeared him and defamed him. They even began with an attempt to block him from speaking at all, and 8 Democrats voted to support that.

This was a hearing on censorship and they were trying to censor him. It only made the point.

It became so awful that RFK was compelled to give a short tutorial on the importance of free speech as an essential right, without which all other rights and freedoms are in jeopardy. Even those words he could barely speak given the rancor in the room. Its fair to say that free speech, even as a core principle, is in grave trouble. We cannot even get a consensus on the basics.

It seemed to viewers that RFK was the adult in the room. Put other ways, he was the preacher of fidelity in the brothel, the keeper of memory in a room full of amnesiacs, the practitioner of sanity in the sanatorium, or, as Mencken might say, the hurler of a dead cat into the temple.

It was oddly strange to hear the voice of wise statesmen in that hothouse culture of infantile corruption: it reminded the public just how far things have fallen. Notably, it was he and not the people who wanted him gagged who was citing scientific papers.

Deny, Deflect, Defend: The Censors Strategy on Display "IndyWatch Feed War"

Brownstone Institute | July 20, 2023

Despite the uproar surrounding the case, Judge Terry Doughtys order in Missouri v. Biden was straightforward. It prohibited government actors from colluding with social media companies to censor content containing protected free speech.

In other words, the defendants including the White House, the CDC, and the Department of Justice must obey the Constitution they swore to uphold by adhering to the First Amendment. The censorship regime responded with familiar doublethink: denying the censorship exists while arguing that it must continue.

On Tuesday, the court held a hearing to consider whether Judge Doughtys order should be reinstated. The oral arguments revealed the governments three-part strategy: deny, deflect, and defend. Its lawyers denied the established facts, deflected from the controversy, and defended its actions through outlandish justifications.

In doing so, they demonstrated the censorship apparatuss lack of remorse for stripping Americans of their constitutional liberties. Even worse, they insist that the totalitarian operations must continue.

  1. Deny: Blame the Facts

At the hearing, government defendants maintained that plaintiffs have manufactured the case. Like their allies in the media, they argued that allegations of censorship were nothing more than an assortment of out-of-context quotes and select portions of documents that distort the record to build a narrative that the bare facts simply do not support.

The censorship is nonexistent, they insist. It is a thoroughly debunked conspiracy theory, in the words of Larry Tribe.

Unlike issues of legal interpretation, this is a factual matter. Either government actors colluded with Big Tech to suppress Americans free speech rights or they did not. Discovery revealed extensive documentation proving that they did, and the defendants make no effort to explain how Judge Doughtys 155-page order detailing dozens of violations of the First Amendment is merely an assortment of out-of-context quotes.

Journalists including Matt Taibbi, Michael Shellenberger, and Alex Berenson have detailed the censorship industrial complex, the entangled web of government agencies, NGOs, and private-public partnerships that seek to control the free flow of information. But reviewing that series of connections and collusions is unnecessary the de...

RFK Jr. Pleads with Fellow Democrats for More Civility and Less Censorship "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Dan Hart | The Washington Stand | July 20, 2023

A fiery hearing held Thursday by the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government unexpectedly became an opportunity for Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to reflect on civility and the seminal importance of free speech in the wake of Democratic committee members accusing him of being racist and anti-Semitic.

In his opening statement, Kennedy announced that he would be setting aside his prepared remarks so that he could address the accusations of racism and anti-Semitism leveled at him by ranking member Rep. Stacey Plaskett (D-V.I.), Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schulz (D-Fla.), and others. Kennedys testimony ended up becoming an impassioned plea for Americans of all political persuasions to become more empathetic of each other and to have greater respect for the free speech protections enshrined in the Constitution.

Debate congenial, respectful debate is the fertilizer, its the water, its the sunlight for our democracy, he said, after noting that his speech in April announcing his Democratic 2024 presidential bid was deplatformed by YouTube. We need to be talking to each other.

Kennedy then referred to a letter signed by 102 of his fellow Democrats in Congress that attempted to get him barred from testifying at the hearing because of his supposed anti-Semitism, noting that this itself is evidence of the problem that this hearing was convened to address. This is an attempt to censor a censorship hearing.

Censorship is antithetical to our [Democratic] party, Kennedy continued. It was appalling to my father, to my uncle [John F. Kennedy], to FDR, Harry Truman, Thomas Jefferson. [Opposition to censorship] sets us apart from all the other forms of government. We need to be able to talk. The First Amendment was not written for easy speech. It was written for the speech that nobody likes you for.

He went on to observe that the Biden administration invented the word malinformation to censor him and others. There was no misinformation on my Instagram account. Everything I put on that account was cited and sourced by peer-reviewed publications or government databases. I was removed for something they called malinformation. Malinformation is information that is true but is inconvenient to the government, that they dont want people to hear. Thats antithetical to the values of our country.

Kennedy further explained that after he announced his candidacy for the presidency, it was harder for the administration and social media platforms to censor him. So now Im subject to this new form of censorshi...

Irelands public broadcaster undeclared earnings bad, endorsing The Great Reset good? "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Gavin OReilly | OffGuardian | July 17, 2023

Over the past several weeks, Ireland has been rocked by a scandal related to the significant undeclared earnings of Ryan Tubridy, the most prominent presenter on the public broadcaster of the 26-County State, RT, and the long-time host of its flagship talk show, The Late Late Show, until his departure earlier this year prior to the revelations related to his salary becoming public knowledge.

In response, Director General of RT Dee Forbes tendered her resignation, and both Tubridy and his agent Noel Kelly have been brought before a government tribunal to account for the undeclared earnings, something that has received significant media coverage across Ireland, including OJ Simpson-style live television coverage of the proceedings.

What has been noticeable however is how this extensive media attention lies in stark contrast to the virtually non-existent mainstream media coverage of RTs endorsement of the World Economic Forums Great Reset initiative over the past three years, intended to usher in a totalitarian global corporate dictatorship, where technology is used to stifle and censor debate.

From the outset of the Covid Pandemic in March 2020, Ireland, like numerous other countries, introduced stringent lockdowns under the guise of preventing the spread of an alleged virus. In reality, the forced closure of vast swathes of society served the purpose of making it virtually impossible for smaller businesses to operate, thus creating a greater dependence on corporate outlets such as Amazon.

As a result, the global lockdowns saw the greatest upwards transfer of wealth from the working and middle-classes in history, with corporate elements receiving upwards of $1tn in profit.

The strike by writers and actors "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

The film and TV industry in the US has pretty much shut down following strikes by the Writers Guild of America (WGA) that began on May 2 and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) that began on July 14, both against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), the media companies that produce shows.

The main complaint of the writers is that they are being squeezed by being asked to do more, working with fewer writers on shows for shorter seasons, making their profession even more precarious than it already was. Another major issue for both writers and performers is one that has been brought on by the increasing popularity of streaming services that the old contracts did not deal with. This involves the payment of residuals, payments that are made to writers and actors when the shows they worked on are rebroadcast later.

For decades, an actor who appeared on a popular TV show like Seinfeld or The Office even once could count on getting royalty checks when the show appeared in reruns, bringing pay even at times they were unable to find work.

The streaming model has largely dried up that income, with residual payments untethered from a show or movies popularity. Actors want a long-term share of that revenue.

The issue is one of many the actors have in common with writers. For both scribes and performers, the move to streaming and its ripple effects have also meant shorter seasons of shows with longer gaps between them, and therefore less work. They say inflation is outpacing the scheduled pay bumps in their contracts.

And both writers and actors fear the threat of unregulated use of artificial intelligence. The actors say studios want to be able to use their likenesses without having to hire them, or pay them.

By coincidence, that last point was illustrated in the episode Joan Is Awful in the latest Black Mirror season released last month where a streaming company uses AI to create content using the likenesses of famous stars.

Because some famous actors get paid massive amounts for their appearances, it is easy to forget that almost all actors and writers earn very little and that their livelihood is precarious with large gaps between getting assignments. They are now being squeezed even more. Hamilton Nolan writes that this illustrates the class war that is always at play between workers and employers, though the few famous celebrities...
