The greatest hazard for humans on deep-space exploration
missions is radiation. To protect astronauts venturing out beyond
Earths protective magnetosphere and sustain a permanent presence on
Moon and/or Mars, advanced passive radiation protection is highly
sought after. Due to the complex nature of space radiation, there
is likely no one-size-fits-all solution to this problem, which is
further aggravated by up-mass restrictions. In search of innovative
radiation-shields, biotechnology holds unique advantages such as
suitability for in-situ resource utilization
(ISRU), self-regeneration, and adaptability. Certain fungi thrive
in high-radiation environments on Earth, such as the contamination
radius of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Analogous to
photosynthesis, these organisms appear to perform radiosynthesis,
using pigments known as melanin to convert gamma-radiation into
chemical energy. It is hypothesized that these organisms can be
employed as a radiation shield to protect other lifeforms. Here,
growth of Cladosporium sphaerospermum and its
capability to attenuate ionizing radiation, was studied aboard the
International Space Station (ISS) over a time of 30 days, as an
analog to habitation on the surface of Mars. At full maturity,
radiation beneath a 1.7 mm thick lawn of the melanized radiotrophic
fungus (180 protection radius) was 2.170.35% lower as compared to
the negative control. Estimations based on linear attenuation
coefficients indicated that a ~ 21 cm thick layer of this fungus
could largely negate the annual dose-equivalent of the radiation
environment on the surface of Mars, whereas only ~ 9 cm would be
required with an equimolar mixture of melanin and Martian regolith.
Compatible with ISRU, such composites are promising as a means to
increase radiation shielding while reducing overall up-mass, as is
compulsory for future Mars-missions.

Artificial intelligence-powered writing assistants that
autocomplete sentences or offer "smart replies" not only put words
into people's mouths, they also put ideas into their heads,
according to new research.
Maurice Jakesch, a doctoral student in the field of information
science asked more than 1,500 participants to write a paragraph
answering the question, "Is social media good for society?" People
who used an AI writing assistant that was biased for or against
social media were twice as likely to write a paragraph agreeing
with the assistant, and significantly more likely to say they held
the same opinion, compared with people who wrote without AI's
help.
The study suggests that the biases baked into AI writing tools
whether intentional or unintentional could have concerning
repercussions for culture and politics, researchers said.
"We're rushing to implement these AI models in all walks of
life, but we need to better understand the implications," said
co-author Mor
Naaman, professor at the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute at
Cornell Tech and of information science in the Cornell Ann S.
Bowers College of Computing and Information Science. "Apart from
increasing efficiency and creativity, there could be other
consequences for individuals and also for our society shifts in
language and opinions."
[...] These technologies deserve more public discussion
regarding how they could be misused and how they should be
monitored and regulated, the researchers said.
"The more powerful these technologies become and the more deeply
we embed them in the social fabric of our societies," Jakesch said,
"the more careful we might want to be about how we're governing the
values, priorities and opinions built into them."

Starlink has been making tremendous progress towards providing
world-wide access to broadband Internet access, but there are a
number of downsides to satellite-based internet such as the
cluttering of low-Earth orbit, high expense, and moodiness of CEO.
There are some alternatives if standard Internet access isnt
available, and one of the more ambitious is providing Internet
access by balloon. Project Loon is perhaps the most famous of these
(although now defunct), but its also possible to skip the middleman
and build your own high-altitude balloon capable of
connection speeds of 500 Kbps.
[Stephen] has been working on this project for a few months and
while it doesnt support a full Internet connection, the downlink on
the high altitude balloon is fast enough to send high-resolution
images in near-real-time. This is thanks to a Raspberry Pi Zero on
board the balloon that is paired with an STM32 board which handles
the radio communication on a RF4463 transceiver module. The STM32
acts as an intermediary or buffer to ensure reliable information is
sent out on the radio, rather than using the Pi directly. [Stephen]
also wrote a large chunk of the software responsible for handling
all of these interactions, optimized for balloon flight
specifically.
The United States is an empire, even if its citizens dont all
realize it. That is the conclusion from historian and political
scientist Aaron Good, who joins Alan MacLeod on this weeks edition
of MintCast. Today, Good walks us through the history of how the
United States came to dominate the world and the organizations it
uses especially the CIA and NATO in order to enforce its control
over the planet.
He notes that as Europe and Asia were destroying themselves in
conflict, the U.S. gave the powerful business think tank, the
Council on Foreign Relations, the task of planning Americas entry
into World War II.
The idea was to:
Enter the war, win it, and establish dominion over global
capitalism. They are going to essentially take control of Western
imperialism. Its not stated that way, but thats what ends up being
the consensus of people at the top of the U.S. And that consensus
of the U.S. as the global hegemon of capitalism worldwide is the
story of our time.
In this, the U.S. has been very effective
dominating the planet for the past 75 years, although Good does
later note that Chinas growing role is loosening the American grip
on the world. And while the U.S. is clearly attempting to
intimidate China with the strength of its military, he does not see
war with China as particularly likely. Good describes the U.S. as a
paper tiger, explaining that:
In a sense, the U.S. is musclebound to the military, meaning
that we may have all these bases and all these billions. But there
are two things that the U.S. does not have the ability to do. One
is actually using its nuclear arsenal because it would kill
everybody. It is a non-starter.
The otheris fielding a military. When they talk about the U.S.
potentially entering a war in Ukraine. Good luck with that! Who in
the world is going to fight in some World War One-style battle?! In
Iraq, the U.S. lost fewer than 10,000, and that was very unpopular.

The Department for Emergency Situations in Romania reports that
emergency crews have found the body of a person reported missing
following severe flash flooding in Arad County. A short period of
heavy rain triggered flooding in Arad County in the west of the
country on 25 June 2023. Vehicles were swept away and homes
flooded. Roads were left strewn with downed trees, mud and flood

Perhaps the most notorious industrial farming institution is the
concentrated animal feeding operation, or CAFO, in which livestock
are raised in crowded conditions that require the heavy use of
antibiotics to treat the infections that inevitably arise from such
packed and stressful living. In recent decades, as a growing
proportion of the worlds seafood has come from aquaculture,
corporate actors have begun to take the same industrial food
production tactics to the worlds waters, according to environmental
and Indigenous rights activists. While some aquaculture has social
and environmental benefits, farming carnivorous finfish on an
industrial scale has numerous negative impacts: chemical and
nutrient pollution, overfishing of forage fish to feed penned fish,
threats to Indigenous and small-scale fisher livelihoods, and the
increased spread of infections causing harm to wild fish. So far,
industrial aquaculture has been limited to coastal or inland
waters, but now theres a push to expand it into the open seas,
where proponents say it can help feed a growing global demand for
seafood with less environmental impact than coastal aquaculture,
being farther from sensitive coastal habitats and creating less
concentrated pollution in deeper, higher-flow waters. In June, a
bill known as the AQUAA Act was reintroduced to both the U.S.
Senate and House that would establish regulatory standards and
investment in research and technology for an industrial aquaculture
system in federal waters. Stronger America Through Seafood (SATS),
an industry group that includes agribusiness giants such as
Cargill, Merck Animal Health and Sysco, support the bill.

The Pacific Ocean covers almost half the surface of the Earth
and despite its name can be the scene of massive storms. The entire
region can be split into three regions, Micronesia and Melanesia
that are on the western end of the ocean, close to Australasia, and
Polynesia that occupies the central region. Polynesia is vast as
can be seen by the size of the so-called Polynesian triangle
consisting of Hawaii as the northern vertex, Rapa Nui (formerly
called Easter Island) as the southeast vertex, and New Zealand as
the southwest vertex. Each side of this triangle is about 9,000
miles. The people of Polynesia, despite being so widely dispersed,
form a single, identifiable cultural group.
Even though there are many island archipelagoes in the ocean,
the total amount of land that makes up the islands that dot the
ocean is minuscule although that aspect can be obscured by atlases
that label the islands since the lettering that gives the names are
much larger than the islands themselves. Take away the labels and
there is nothing there unless one greatly magnifies the scale.
Although the Polynesian triangle covers 10 million square miles,
the area of actual land is approximately 300,000 square miles. If
we leave out New Zealand and the Hawaiian archipelago, we are left
with just 15,000 square miles for all the other islands, just 0.15%
of the total area of the triangle. Within this huge triangle are
familiar places like Samoa and Tonga plus various archipelagoes
such the Cook Islands, Society Islands (which contains Bora Bora
and Tahiti), the Marquesas and the Tuamotu archipelagoes.
These islands are all just tiny dots in the ocean, so small and
dispersed that early explorers from Europe in the 16th and 17th
centuries, seeking new westerly routes to the Spice Islands by
going around Tierra del Fuego in South America, could sail right
through the archipelagoes and not realize that there was any land
(relatively) nearby. The famous explorer Ferdinand Magellan did
just that in 1593, seeing nothing except two tiny atolls. It was he
who gave this ocean the name Pacific because just by chance it so
happened to be calm when he first arrived. Two years later another
explorer Alvaro de Mendana came across the island Fatu Hiva at the
southernmost edge of the Marquesas archipelago, itself at the
western edge of Polynesia, making him the first European to make
contact with the Polynesian people.
And yet, thousands of years ago, the people we now label as
Polynesians managed to populate every single habitable island. This
raises three major questions: Who are they and from where did they
originate? How did they manage to navigate these...

It is often better to talk about solutions

One State: The Only Democratic Future for Palestine-Israel.
In One State, Karmi envisages uniting the land, from the River

enjoy the same rights and securities that those currently living
there have. She insists that this is the only way to end the

Lowkey and Karmi have previously teamed up to debate at the

Chittorgarh, police said.
Lightning strikes across Pakistan's eastern Punjab province
killed at least 10 people, officials said, as heavy pre-monsoon
rains lashed the region. The strikes on Sunday mainly took place in
the Sialkot and Sheikhupura districts of Punjab. Lightning strikes
are frequent across Pakistan, especially in Punjab's mountainous
areas and plains. The Pakistan Meteorological Department said more
rains were expected this week, bringing some respite from the
ongoing heatwave. The National Disaster Management Authority warned
the ongoing rains could trigger flash flooding. Every year, many
areas of Pakistan struggle with the annual monsoons, drawing
criticism for poor government planning. The season runs from July
through September. Last summer, floods triggered by rains killed
1739 people across Pakistan. The deluge displaced about eight
million people and caused $US30 billion ($A45 billion) in losses.

Despite being censured in the US Congress, Adam Schiff is in
fact doing pretty well for himself and is likely going to get a
promotion for lying to the American people for four years, says a
former Colorado state senator.
The US House of Representatives voted to censure Democratic Rep.
Adam Schiff this week for his role in promoting unsubstantiated
claims that former US President Donald Trump colluded with
Russia.
Former Colorado Senator Ted Harvey (Rep.), however, argued that
Schiff deserves worse for essentially lying to the American people
while in the capacity of the House Intelligence Committee head.
Despite basically knowing that there was no substance to
allegations of Trump colluding with Russia, Schiff told the US
public that there was ample evidence of collusion between the
Russian government and the Trump campaign, Harvey told
Sputnik.
That is everything Schiff said to the American people for four
years as the chairman of the intelligence community, he should not
just be censured. He should be removed from office, he said.
Alas, Harvey lamented, the US Republicans are simply too afraid
to pursue this course of actions and instead managed to make a
martyr out of Schiff.
And he is raising money by the boatloads and he is now running
for the United States Senate and will get a promotion for lying to
the American people for four years, Harvey mused about Schiffs
prospects. And instead of being held accountable for that, hes
going to be promoted for that.
During his tenure as the 45th president of the United States,
Donald Trump was hounded by allegations of colluding with Russia in
order to be elected in 2016, with said allegations being actively
promoted by his political opponents.
Despite the seriousness of the allegations brought against him,
an investigation into the alleged Russian election interference led
by special counsel Robert Mueller failed to produce conclusive
evidence to back claims that Trump campaign members conspired with
Russia.

If you thought antifa was gone from Seattle and neighboring
communities, you were wrong. On Saturday, June 17th, some 75+ local
anarchists and community members convened on the plaza of the
Lynnwood Event Center to face off against TERFs and the local III%,
a
far-Right militia.
A younger, newer organizer first identified the problem when
Sovereign Women Speak (SWS) posted a flyer about a protest to
support a spa that had been taken to the Seattle District Court and
received a
ruling denying them the ability to continue its discriminatory
practice of refusing access to transwomen. That organizer reached
out to other young organizers that had previously organized large
and successful marches for trans lives in the last few months.
Together, they made contact with various allies and accomplices to
coordinate a counter-protest. Social media was blasted with flyers
and printouts were posted all over Lynnwood and neighboring area
all within about a week. With such short notice, and during Pride
month when so many antifascists are committed to supporting
non-corporate Pride events to help keep people safe, it was an
impressive feat for these young up and comers.
SWS has a sordid local history in the Pacific Northwest, known
for their proud trans exclusionist activities and propaganda. This
event would not be the first time they actively recruited III% to
attend and speak at their rally they did this in Port Townsend last
September, too. SWS advocates for trans women to be forced into
mens prisons where they face terrible
violence, that gender affirming surgery is a myth, that all
trans people and drag queens are groomers, and so on. Theyre not
the brightest crayons in the box they originally posted a flyer and
address for the wrong spa location and had to change it before it
gained traction.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death
worldwide and considered one of the most environmentally driven
diseases. The role of DNA methylation in response to the individual
exposure for the development and progression of CVD is still poorly
understood and a synthesis of the evidence is lacking.
A systematic review of articles examining measurements of DNA
cytosine methylation in CVD was conducted in accordance with PRISMA
(preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and
meta-analyses) guidelines. The search yielded 5,563 articles from
PubMed and CENTRAL databases. From 99 studies with a total of
87,827 individuals eligible for analysis, a database was created
combining all CpG-, gene-and study-related information. It contains
74,580 unique CpG sites, of which 1,452 CpG sites were mentioned

in6 publications: cg01656216 (near ZNF438) related to
vascular disease and epigenetic age, and cg03636183 (near F2RL3)
related to coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, smoking
and air pollution. Of 19,127 mapped genes, 5,807 were reported in2

Last spring, engineers in Barcelona packed up the
sperm-injecting robot theyd designed and sent it by DHL to New York
City. They followed it to a clinic there, called New Hope Fertility
Center, where they put the instrument back together, assembling a
microscope, a mechanized needle, a tiny petri dish, and a
laptop.
Then one of the engineers, with no real experience in fertility
medicine, used a Sony PlayStation 5 controller to position a
robotic needle. Eyeing a human egg through a camera, it then moved
forward on its own, penetrating the egg and dropping off a single
sperm cell. Altogether, the robot was used to fertilize more than a
dozen eggs.

Exhausted, I grudgingly open my eyes and pat my blanket as I
awkwardly search for my phone. I open Twitter to see that my
account has blown up. As I search my DMs to read the comments of
support, a warm calming feeling covers me. My eyes well up in tears
as I read one comment in particular. We are better with you
here.
That is all it said. So few words but exactly what I needed to
hear. I remember the night before thinking how I probably shouldnt
post the tweet but
I had no one to talk to. A person should never have to ask
themselves if they would be better off dead or back in prison.
Still, after less than six months out back on the streets, I felt
overwhelmed and hopeless. I asked myself if I should just check
out.
My name is Jessica Sylvia and I am a 47-year-old formerly
incarcerated trans woman. I was released on June 20, 2022 after
serving 222 months for a domestic violence-related crime involving
my mothers ex-husband.
I consider the prison system to be nothing but state-sanctioned
human trafficking. Kidnapping and caging a person does not equal
accountability; it perpetuates violence. The human trafficking
economy may not create safety, but it is big money. The United
States spends
$81 billion every year to incarcerate people. That number does
not include all of the money generated around contracts that
provide care and services For example, treatment is necessary.
People need to communicate with their families and buy food. All of
that costs money. The total incarceration economy could actually
equal hundreds of billions annually. How many people have an
economic interest in maintaining incarceration?
No one is surprised to hear that post-incarceration life is
difficult and it is extremely easy to get sent back to prison.
According to Harvard
Political Review, two out of three are rearrested within three
years of release, and 50 percent are re-incarcerated. There are
many structural reasons for that uncomfortable statistic. It is
more difficult than ever for people in the U.S. to secure housing,
but its a genuine crisis for formerly incarcerated people, who are
10 times more likely to experience homelessness.

China-linked APT group VANGUARD PANDA,
aka Volt Typhoon, was spotted observing a novel tradecraft to gain
initial access to target networks.
CrowdStrike researchers observed the China-linked APT group
VANGUARD PANDA, aka
Volt Typhoon, using a novel tradecraft to gain initial access
to target networks.
The Volt Typhoon group has been active since at least mid-2021
it carried out cyber operations against critical infrastructure. In
the most recent campaign, the group targeted organizations in the
communications, manufacturing, utility, transportation,
construction, maritime, government, information technology, and
education sectors.
The APT group is using almost exclusively living-off-the-land
techniques and hands-on-keyboard activity to evade
detection.
Crowdstrike reported that the group employed
ManageEngine Self-service Plus exploits to gain initial access,
then the attackers rely on custom webshells to achieve persistent
access, and living-off-the-land (LOTL) techniques for lateral
movement.
In one of the attacks blocked by the security firm, the APT
group targeted a Zoho ManageEngine ADSelfService Plus service
running on an Apache Tomcat server.
The malicious activity detailed in the detection included
listing processes, network connectivity testing, gathering user and
group information, mounting shares, enumeration of domain trust
over WMI, and listing DNS zones over WMI. reads the analysis published by the company. VANGUARD
PANDAs actions indicated a familiarity with the target environment,
due to the rapid succession of their commands, as well as having
specific internal hostnames and IPs to ping, remote shares to
mount, and plaintext credentials to use for WMI.
The analysis of the Apache Tomcat access logs revealed the
execution of multiple HTTP POST requests to
/html/promotion/selfsdp.jspx, which is a web shell used by the
threat actors.
Crowdstrike reported that the webshell was attempting to
masquerade as a legitimate file of ManageEngine ADSelfService Plus
by setting its title to ManageEngine ADSelfService Plus and adding
links to legitimate enterprise help desk software.
The researchers believe that the VANGUARD PANDA group had

Amid numerous disturbing reports about possible false flag
operations involving nuclear devices and weapons, the Kiev
regime seems to be escalating its actions in this regard. According
to various local sources, the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant
(NPP), located in the city of Yuzhnoukrainsk in the Nikolayev
region (oblast), has been effectively taken over by the Neo-Nazi
junta forces. Although troops have been stationed in and around the
NPP since the start of the special military operation (SMO), in
recent weeks this has escalated. Apparently, mysterious guards have
appeared at the NPP and have even restricted access to the reactor
facilities, including to the staff responsible for the critically
important maintenance of the reactor and the NPPs key systems and
subsystems.
Worse yet, the guards are offering no explanation for their
behavior, nor does anyone else, be it the military or civilian
authorities. In essence, nobody really knows for sure, but many
people are skeptical (to say the least). The guards have even
placed what can only be described as ammunition crates inside the
NPP. And it doesnt seem to be small arms ammunition, but something
much bigger, such as shells or even rockets, all of which have
foreign markings. For over a year, there have been
numerous reports
about the Kiev regime hiding NATO-sourced weapons there,
obviously in an attempt to prevent their destruction. Needless to
say, having any sort of weapons at a nuclear facility of any kind
is suicidal in and of itself, but having shells and rockets stored
there is simply criminal.
This is particularly dangerous as the political West and the
Neo-Nazi junta have been insisting that Russia is supposedly
planning to use a tactical nuclear weapon in Ukraine, supposedly
due to mythical
battlefield losses. On the other hand, Moscow has repeatedly
issued warnings about the Kiev regimes plans to build a
so-called dirty bomb, for which it has more than enough
enriched uranium stored in several Soviet-era NPPs across Ukraine.
The previous scenario is extremely unlikely, as its not in Russias
interest to use nuclear weapons. However, Moscows dirty bomb
warnings are certainly not to be dismissed, as
the Neo-Nazi junta has been threatening to acquire nuclear weapons
for years. This includes threats by the Kiev regime frontman
Volodymyr Zele...
First broken in an article from the Astana Times, Azerbaijani
and Kazakh leaders gathered in the formers country for high-level
talks on June 22, 2023. These talks were aimed at boosting the
overall value of trade between the two countries to a targeted goal
of $1 billion annually.
Its hardly a surprise then that these nations are working on
developing closer ties. Both Azeris and Kazakhs speak similar
Turkic languages, share Turkic ethnic roots, and are members of
many common regional groupings like the Organization of Turkic
States.
Both
economies are heavily dependent on hydrocarbon reserves.
Politically, both have long sought to chart an independent course
from the powers that surround them, predominantly Russia, despite
frequently having a
pro-Moscow streak in the recent past. Finally, both countries
were part of the Soviet Union until its collapse in 1991.
Kazakhstan has been the most economically successful of the two.
The UNs
Development Program classifies Kazakhstan as a very highly
developed country with a nominal income per capita of about $11,000
annually. More of its economy is devoted to the service sector than
Azerbaijan. And according to the Fund for Peaces Fragile States
index, Kazakhstan fares significantly better. Its significantly
larger population and economy than Azerbaijan also makes it more
influential in this regard.
Shifting geopolitical realities have accelerated cooperation
between the two countries. According to the Astana Times article,
bilateral trade between the two increased by about 40%, up to $460
million USD, in 2022. Following the imposition of Western sanctions
and pariah status on a significantly less reliable partner in
Russia, Kazakhstan was caught in a difficult situation. Physically
sandwiched between Russia, China, and the less affluent states to
its south, the country still nevertheless has been courting Western
capital and
political goodwill with the goal of balancing out the major
regional players around it.

The
Ministry of Digital Development, Telecommunications and Mass Media
of the Russian Federation is the government body responsible for
the development and implementation of IT policy and regulation.
In common with other government departments, MinTsifry is
working hard to convince business leaders across the country that
everything is going according to plan. Russia is fully capable of
weathering multiple current and developing crises as long everyone
pulls together, invests their own cash, and doesnt expect any
subsidies from the government, the sales pitch goes.
Ongoing projects include the development of domestic software to
replace Western products now unavailable in the market, training
schoolchildren to program in the summer holidays, encouraging sales
of domestic telecoms equipment and compensating local buyers for
the difference in price, and promoting the growth and importance of
the local IT industry.
Late last week, MinTsifry tabled new plans to boost the
entertainment sector but who is supposed to benefit and how isnt
clear.
Still No Answer to Western Companies Pull Out
Major Western entertainment companies began leaving the Russian
market more than a year ago and since then the government has
struggled to come up with any obviously viable solution. Plans to
legalize software piracy, turn a blind eye to
piracy of Western movies, put the state in charge of all
online piracy to generate revenue, or legalize piracy like
Belarus did in January, have done little to solve the countrys
problems.
Speaking with local news outlet RBC last week, the Ministry of
Digital Development confirmed that it has been discussing the
possibility of waiving restrictions on access to sites offering
unlicensed video content from Western companies. More bluntly,
pirate sites whose activities were considered so persistent and
egregious that all ISPs were ordered to block them at some point,
may soon find themselves unblocked.
How the digital development of Russia will be furthered by such
an unusual move isnt clear but the current plans do come with some
strings attached.
It doesnt take a genius to figure out where this could
be heading. For a moment, I would like for you to imagine a
rather chilling fictional scenario. Not too far in the
future, all global citizens are required to possess proper digital
identification or else they will not be permitted to access the new
global digital financial system.
Central banks all over the globe have rolled out their new
central bank digital currencies, but in order to use those
currencies you must prove that you are who you say you are, and the
only way to do that is with the new global system of digital
identification that has been introduced. As cash is phased
out, those that resist being part of the new global system are
increasingly pushed to the outer fringes of society. Hardly
anyone is willing to employ them any longer, it has become
virtually impossible for them to get loans, and they are looked
down upon by much of the general population. And then after
the vast majority of the global population has willingly signed up
for the new global system of digital identification, it is
announced that the system will now become mandatory. That
means that anyone that does not submit will not be able to buy,
sell, get a job or have a bank account.
You may think that I am exaggerating the dangers of a global
system of digital identification.
I wish that I was.
Once a global system of digital identification is introduced, it
will rapidly become our most important form of identification.
It will become more important than your drivers license and more
important than your Social Security number.
Pretty quickly, it would become required for almost every
financial transaction that you make online.
A lot of people may think that would be a good thing.
After all, there are so many scammers and thieves on the Internet
these days.
And I would agree that there is a need for more financial
security on the Internet, but I am 100 percent against any type of
global digital identification system because the potential for
tyranny would be off the charts.
Unfortunately, that is exactly the type of system that is now

MY social media memories today from 7 years ago are of the
results of the Brexit referendum vote, 23 June 2016. The seven-year
anniversary of the leave campaigns victory was yesterday. The vote
that David Cameron said would reveal the future we want for our
children and goes to the heart of the kind of country we
want to be.
I remember feeling rather incredulous at the time, knowing in my
gut that NI/ the north of Ireland was about to become a political
football once again, as the only country in the UK with a land
border with the EU. I was angry too, that no one had said this loud
enough to be heard over Nigel Farage. In fact, the DUP supported
the leave campaign. Why did no one make this argument? Why did no
one highlight the special relationship between NI/ the north of
Ireland and the EU? Why did no one say that between 1995
and 2020, a financial contribution of 1.6 billion was
provided to NI/ the north of Ireland through four EU PEACE
programmes.
The special relationship between NI/ the north of Ireland and
the EU can still be seen today, through the work of the Northern
Ireland Executive Office (NIEO) in Brussels.
Earlier this year, on the back of the then upcoming 25th
anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, the NIEO in Brussels
released their plan for the next 25 years of NI/ the north of
Ireland; People. Planet. Prosperity. Our Giant
Ambition.
I watched the two-minute video endorsing the plan, Our Giant Ambition video. It has echoes of the Richard
Ayoade HSBC advert, which ends with Richard stating, being open
is good for business. Why are we not open to building
relationships instead of cutting ties? Perhaps, if we the people
here were shown such videos, we would see what has been achieved
over the last 25 years. We would believe in our tomorrow because
look at us today.
Why dont we show this at 5.58pm every night before the 6.00pm
news, to remind us that we are more than flegs and fighting, that
our mission should be to transform our future for lasting
generational change. Why do we not sell our brand, to
ourselves? Perhaps if we had a better self-image, we would have a
hope of finally slowing the brain drain, a legacy of the troubles,
which sees some of our best and brightest leave in search of
something better, something like us if you look at us through the
eyes of NI in Brussels.

into Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and provide facts and
information about its dangers.
Facts About Driving While Intoxicated
Caution on the road is a must for all drivers. Without it, you
put other road users at risk. Imbibing or using drugs while driving
is a formula that leads to destruction and a ripple of reactions.
If you land in trouble with law enforcers for DWI, Trey Porter
Law will provide you with legal guidance. Here is a clear focus
on what you should know about DWI.
1. Legal Consequences
If youre driving under intoxication, youre breaking the law, and
it will result in legal consequences. DWI is a severe offense in
most jurisdictions, and depending on where you are, the penalties
you face are determined by your jurisdiction.
They vary from fines, revocation or suspension of a drivers
license, mandatory participation in support groups, or
imprisonment. Repeat offenders or at-fault drivers who cause other
road usersusers injuries or fatalities face the most severe
penalties.
Its fair to say that one of the biggest advances for the
electronic constructor over the last decade or so has been the
advent of inexpensive small-order PCB manufacture. That said, there
are still plenty who etch their own boards, and for them perhaps
the most fiddly part of the process comes in drilling holes
accurately. Its to aid in this task that [John McNelly] has created
a camera with a periscope, to give the drill bit
perfect alignment with the hole.
The idea is simple enough, an off-the-shelf all-in-one
microscope camera points sideways at a mirror allowing it to look
upwards. The viewport is placed under the drill and the crosshairs
on the microscope are lined up with the end of the drill. Then the
board can be placed on top and the pad lined up with the
crosshairs, and a perfectly placed hole can be drilled. Its a
beautiful piece of lateral thinking which we like, as it ends that
lottery of slightly off-centre holes. You can see it in glorious
portrait-mode action in the video below the break.

Bangladeshs famous Rajshahi silk industry has been struggling in
recent years for many reasons, including the excessive dependency
on imported low-cost yarn. The recent erratic weather has been
worsening the situation, as the local mulberry and silkworm
producers are now experiencing different bacterial and viral
diseases, which eventually reduce the silk production rate.
According to a study, the weather in Bangladesh and the current
methods used to raise silkworms strongly encourage the spread of
bacterial and viral infections. The situation for the silk
manufacturer is becoming more difficult due to shifting weather
patterns. A notable lepidopteran insect used to produce natural
silk fiber is the silkworm Bombyx mori L. It is vulnerable to
several diseases and pests. The environment highly influences the
growth and development of silkworms. As a result, worms weaken and
are more susceptible to various infections, said Kamrul Ahsan, a
co-author of the study. In four rearing seasons known as per the
name of Bengali calendar months Vaduri (August to September),
Agrahayan (November to December), Choitro (March to April) and
Joistho (May to June) practiced in the northern part of Bangladesh.
About 40-50% reduction of average cocoon yield occurs during the
two seasons of Joistho and Vaduri, when the temperature and
humidity go to extremes. In Bangladesh, the summer (or hot) months
usually start in April and end in October. The ideal temperature
for producing a good quality yarn and proper larvae growth is 25
degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit) and relative humidity.

In addition to proactive management, cost-savings, quality,
breadth of service, and peace of mind, more and more businesses
choose managed IT services over break-fix.
The emphasis on IT-related concerns must grow as small
businesses reliance on technology rises. Companies could operate
with dependable, secure computer systems and the Internet. IT
security is now much more crucial for both themselves and the
clients they serve as more people store increasing amounts of data
digitally.
Managed Internet
services are frequently compared to vehicle repair. You
often take your car to the mechanic to avoid problems that could
shorten its lifespan and impact how well it performs. Not to
mention that it could cost you a fortune if you dont.
Similar approaches to IT are being taken by an increasing number
of small firms, who prefer regular, continuous maintenance to
simply calling in the pros when something breaks. Compare the
break-fix strategy with managed IT services and consider how it
could benefit your business.
Break-Fix: In this reactive strategy, as the name suggests,
IT vendors only interact with clients when something is broken and
needs repair.
Managed IT Services: Clients pay a monthly fee for
continuing proactive IT assistance under the managed services
model. Usually, this includes everything required to ensure that
corporate technology functions smoothly.
Among The Advantages Of Managed IT Services
Here are some of the reasons why incorporating managed IT
services can be useful for businesses-
1. Proactive Method
In the managed services model, your IT partner uses a hands-on
approach to thwart technological issues before they affect business
operations and cost your firm money and time. Everyone is motivated
to prevent problems from occurring and to design the most secure
and effective systems for your company. Together, you can avoid IT
problems rather than merely rushing to address them when they
happen.
2. Reliability
You are compelled to put out flames by the break-fix paradigm
repeatedly. The...
Just about every news outlet covered the first
anniversary of the controversial Supreme Court decision that
terminated a womans right to choose. However, far fewer have
written about the 10-year anniversary of another momentous ruling
that has lastingly eroded US democracy.
It has now been a decade since the Supreme
Court held inShelby County v.
Holderthat systemic racism is no
longer a problem in the US and that, therefore, even states with a
history of discrimination can do just about anything they want with
their election laws.
That reasoning was either incredibly dumb or
extremely devious.
[Throwing] out preclearance when it has worked
and is continuing to work to stop discriminatory changes is like
throwing away your umbrella in a rainstorm because you are not
getting wet, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg famously noted in her
dissent.
History has proven her right and many
marginalized demographics have been left standing out in the rain
ever since.
Thats because the 5-4 decision to overturn the
heart of the Voting Rights Act (VRA), the so-called preclearance
provision, allowed Republican lawmakers in those states to
immediately begin creating obstacles to voting that made it more
difficult for minorities and young people, i.e., likely Democratic
voters, to cast their ballots.
Make no mistake, every election sinceShelby County v. Holderhas been tainted. Many of the laws that rigged
the playing field in favor of Republicans would never have survived
preclearance, which required the federal government to review them
before they went into effect.
Of course, there is no telling how seriously
the Department of Justice would have taken this responsibility
during the Trump years. But, then again, maybe he wouldnt have won
without voter suppression laws having been been enacted in various
states in which he held narrow majorities.
Starting within hours of the Shelby County
decision, Republican-controlled states sprung into action. In the
10 years since, they have passed hundreds of new voting laws and
closed more than 1,500 polling places, which has severely
restricted the access to the ballot box for low-income
Americans.
It didnt take a genius to figure out that this
would happen, and most of the justices on the Supreme Court are no
dummies, so it is safe to assume that this erosion of voting rights
was deliberate. That would also t...
The decline in unionist vote share since last years Assembly
election looks like another case of differential turnout. But it is
not. This is because Alex Easton, the MLA who left the DUP in 2021,
stood and was elected as an Independent in 2022. His transfers show
that a quarter of his votes came from outside unionism. If we
reallocated his votes in accordance with his transfers, we would
get a graph that looks very similar to the council votes under the
current constituency boundaries: Unionists 3.3 quotas, Nationalists
0.2 quotas and Others 2.4 quotas. 0.1 of a quota would be
unaccounted for since not all of his voters transferred.
Looking at the votes cast for each party in the council election
we get:
Once again the picture is clouded by Independent Unionists, of
whom there were three in the council election. Two of these, who
between them account for 77% of the Independent unionist vote, had
backed Alex Easton in the 2022 Assembly election. One of them was
elected and the other missed out by 89 votes. It would seem that
North Down still likes its Independents, which is encouraging news
for Easton come the next Assembly election.
If we assume Easton is re-elected, then the rest becomes clear.
The DUP has enough votes to guarantee a seat, but not enough for
two, even with transfers from the TUV. The UUP has done well here,
holding all its council seats and substantially increasing its vote
from last year. Its Assembly seat is also safe on these figures.
Alliance also had a good election, increasing its total of
councillors and vote share which points to its two seats now being
safe.
All hierarchical mass societies from ancient to modern (whether
authoritarian or democratic) have been riven by conflicts which are
products of the occupational and class-based contradictions within
them. The ruling elites within them can only continue to rule as
long as sufficient numbers within society in general or within
their own class in particular, are relatively content or if not,
are unable to rebel. The ruling elite individuals themselves can
only continue to rule as long as the elite clique which supports
them are sufficiently united and have control of the main means of
repression.
Splits in the ruling elites can threaten the domination of the
faction in control, but any such cleavage of itself, does not
present revolutionary opportunities. Divisions occuring purely
within the elite do not represent anything other than the
possibility of a change in the personnel who will dominate in
future or in the consolidation of the existing one. Clearly such
active splits in ruling elites can take the form of political or
military manoeuvring to test out or achieve some kind of
resolution. However, in the case of extremely authoritarian elites,
such as Russia, where political solutions are restricted or absent,
military solutions become the dominant means of change or
resistance to change.
The fissures in the ruling edifice of Putins Russia are probably
many, but mostly opaque to the outside observer. However, the one
that has opened up between the two war criminals, Prigozhin and
Putin, has undoubtedly widened. The first named heading the Wagner
group and the second one heading the Russian Federation. The cracks
that widened during the the Special Miltary Operation (War) in
Ukraine however, are not confined to these two criminals. The
earlier anti-Putin and anti-war tendencies in Russia were silenced
in the predictable totalitarian manner.
In order, to engage in a predatory war against Ukraine, Putin
has not only jailed opposition characters but has physically
eliminated many of them and like Lenin and Stalin before him has
effectively silenced any form of public criticism. Yet the cracks
in the social system are still there and more are appearing. The
war effort itself has further impoverished the ordinary Russian
citizen and taken the lives of many family members. As was the case
under Stalin, what cannot be said publically can be thought
privately. How wide this public rift now becomes and how it is
resolved remains to be seen, as will the ideological expressions
utilised by each side to justify their actions.
However, for the two leading characters in this Russian ruling
elite drama, the rift is increasingly existential. If this
acrimonious division is not quickly resolved, the results will be
catastrophic for one or the other or even both and will be
detrimental those who get caught up in the dispute. This rebellion
of the Wagner group, with its seizure of cities, assets and...

A building is a business. I repeat, a building is a
business. If you manage your own life, you can understand this
principle. You have to spend less than you bring in. If you are the
one responsible for your home, you have to pay attention to income
and expenses if you have any designs on staying in said home. While
a business has more moving parts than a building, at the end of the
day, cashflow counts.
I bring this up because the community and economic
development industries give an outsized amount of attention to
business owners, but leave building owners jilted, pining in the
shadows, just waiting for a little love.
Entrepreneurship makes Main Street go round, but those working
in the field have to remember that building owners are
entrepreneurs, too. They should be getting a lot more attention.
Because if you dont have any good building owners, you arent going
to have any good business owners.
Business owners matter, but they get all the attention,
and this puts the cart way out in front of the horse. No matter how
good your organization might be at developing entrepreneurs, if
they dont have...
Since 2012, Kim Dotcom has been fighting extradition to the
United States where he faces serious charges related to cloud
storage site Megaupload. During that time, very little has been
said about Megaupload graphic designer, Julius Bencko. A wanted man
in the U.S., Bencko was arrested this month by armed police in the
Czech Republic, who filmed the event and published it online.
[...] In the United States government's superseding indictment
dated February 16, 2012, Julius Bencko is described as a citizen
and resident of Slovakia. A talented graphic designer, Bencko was
responsible for Megaupload's logo and ensuring that other sites in
the group looked good and accommodated advertising properly.
According to the United States government, this work earned
Bencko more than $1 million in 2010 alone. Even for the guy
responsible for integrating Megaupload's Flash player, that was
still pretty good money.
The important context here is that Bencko was the director and
sole shareholder of Basemax International Limited and through that
entity, he effectively held 2.5% of Megaupload's shares. For
someone who supposedly played a key role in the most significant
piracy conspiracy of all time, the allegations against Bencko were
underwhelming and, at times, borderline comical.

Mick (his middle name) wanted a bigger penis because he believed

Cocaine demand and supply are booming worldwide and
methamphetamine trafficking is expanding beyond established
markets, including in Afghanistan where the drug is now being
produced, says a United Nations report. The number of people taking
drugs rose by 23 percent to 296 million in 2021 - the most recent
year for which data is available - from 240 million in 2011,
according to the annual World Drug Report published by the UN
Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) late on Sunday. The UNODC said
only half the increase can be attributed to the world's population
growth during the period.
A source briefed directly on the case told the Guardian on

on the condition of anonymity because the investigation into the
case was still pending. The worker's death occurred at about
10.25pm as a Delta Air Lines jet which had just arrived from Los

that the worker - whose identity has not been publicly released -
was ingested into the one engine which the plane in question had on

Professional Dominican basketball player scar Cabrera Adames
died this week after an apparent heart attack while he was possibly
undergoing a stress test. According to a social media post from
Dominican sports commentator Hctor Gmez, the 28-year-old's stress
test was being performed at a health center in Santo Domingo.
Cabrera Adames is believed to have suffered from myocarditis. The
disease can weaken the heart and its electrical system, which
decreases the heart's ability to pump blood, according to the
American Heart Association. Following his death, social media posts
surfaced in which Cabrera Adames suggested he developed the rare
heart disease after he received two doses of a COVID vaccine. "I
got a damn Myocarditis from taking a f---ing vaccine. (I got 2
doses of Pfizer) And I knew it! Many people warned me," Cabrera
Adames wrote on social media.
If you spent the entire Friday night and Saturday glued to the
news about Prigozhins armed rebellion, you are either an IR-head, a
Russia-watcher or the Ukrainian army running out of popcorn. The
avalanche of hot-takes about the start of a civil war, theoretical
debates about a coup or not a coup and an army of blue-check
grifters with the latest FSB letters reigned the day. The pundits
who rushed to their keyboards with the news of Russias impeding
collapse saw their takes turn to pumpkins even before midnight:
after Wagners mostly unobstructed march to Moscow and seizing
Rostov on Don without any resistance, Prigozhin announced the
retreat of his forces according to plan.
For those not permanently online, the weekend featured quite a
hullabaloo with Wagner mercenary group moving significant parts of
their troops to Rostov, on the Russian side of the border from the
occupied Ukrainian regions, as well as moving fast towards Moscow
and shooting down several Russian aircraft around Voronezh.
Voronezh is already featured in the Russian popular vocabulary as a
proverbial foot/penis one might shoot themselves into (bombit
Voronezh). Life imitates art, or, in this case, folklore. After
accusing the Russian government of fabricating the pretences for
invading Ukraine, Prigozhin demanded the heads of Defense Minister
Shoigu and chief of the general staff Gerasimov angrily asking for
respectful attitude from the deputy defence minister Evkurov on
tape. The morning of June 24th was tense to say the least with
Putins angry accusations of treason on TV (without naming names)
and Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharovas
sanctimonious appeals to unity from a monastery outside of Moscow.
The heads that Prigozhin demanded notably stayed silent, while a
number of
functionaries didnt rush to declare support to the commander in
chief.
The resolution came somewhat unexpected through (supposedly)
Belarus Lukashenkos mediation: according to the official
communications, Prigozhin and his fighters were granted immunity
based on their military record and Wagners head was supposed to
leave for Belarus. After the initial mocking of the deal (and
Prigozhin himself earning a record number of
clown emojis on Telegram as a reaction to his retreat) and
incredulity at the fact that you can dance in a church for two
years prison time, but shoot down military aircraft and stage an
armed rebellion for an exile in Belarus, Russian State Prosecutors
office announced today that they are not dropping the criminal
charges against Prigozhin. Interesting. Especially after one of the
main TV pund...

June 2023 (AFP)
A far-right Israeli minister has compared the country's security
chiefs to the Russian Wagner Group after they condemned settler
attacks in the occupied West
Bank.
Settler gangs on Sunday morning burned crops in the
Palestinian town of Turmusaya only days after the
village was subjected to a rampage that left at least 3o houses and
70 vehicles on fire.
More than 400 settlers stormed the village on Wednesday
under the protection of the Israeli army, killing one
Palestinian.
In response, the heads of the police, army, and Shin Bet
intelligence service released a statement
denouncing the attacks as "nationalist terror".
On Monday, the Minister of Settlements and National
Missions Orit Strock, a member of the Knesset for the
far-right Religious Zionist Party, criticised the security
chiefs' intervention.
Every day new evidence emerges of the harms of lockdown on
children. Researchers find rising numbers of those with eating
disorders and social anxiety, or who are self-harming and dropping
out of school. And that's far from an exhaustive list. The fact our
young suffered the effects of lockdown in many more ways than we
could ever have predicted has left parents, schools and the
healthcare system reeling in the virus's wake. But today, little is
being done. Over the pandemic's course, the number of youngsters
seeking help for mental health problems soared, jumping from an
estimated 12.1 per cent of children in 2017 to 17.8 per cent in
2022. The youngest children - those aged between seven and 10 - saw
the biggest increase. But adolescent mental health issues have also
become more prevalent, with new research this week showing that
lockdowns fuelled a staggering 42 per cent rise in eating disorders
among teenagers - the sharpest rise being in girls aged between 13
and 16 - and led...
Logan Funk was in his living room Saturday evening when he heard
screams for help coming from outside. He peeked out his window only

Funk said of an increasing number of coyotes he's seen in the North

sister were walking around the Popko Crescent and Knowles Avenue
area just before 7 p.m. when the coyote ran towards them as they
tried to flee.

A day in the life of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a
dynamic and challenging one, filled with diverse responsibilities
and critical decision-making. Lets take a closer look at what a
typical day in the life of a CFO might entail:
Strategic Planning
The Chief Financial Officer starts the day by reviewing the
companys financial performance, analyzing key financial indicators,
and evaluating the overall financial health of the organization.
They collaborate with other executives and department heads to
develop and refine the companys financial strategies and long-term
goals.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
The CFO oversees the preparation and analysis of
financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets,
and cash flow statements. They ensure accuracy and compliance with
accounting standards and regulatory requirements. These reports
provide valuable insights into the companys financial performance,
allowing the CFO to identify trends, assess risks, and make
informed decisions.
Budgeting and Forecasting
The CFO plays a crucial role in the budgeting and forecasting
processes. They work closely with department heads to develop
budgets, set financial targets, and allocate resources effectively.
By
analyzing market trends, industry benchmarks, and internal
data, the CFO provides guidance and makes recommendations to

In the transition zone between the eastern Amazon and the
Cerrado, an interaction between climate change and agricultural
expansion may be resulting in increased temperature and reduced
rainfall. This is one of the main conclusions of a study conducted
by Brazilian and foreign researchers. This transition zone, known
as Matopiba since it encompasses parts of the states of Maranho,
Tocantins, Piau and Bahia, is the largest area of contact between
forest and savanna in the tropics. The Cerrado predominates in 91%
of the region, while the remaining 9% is composed of patches of
Amazon Rainforest and Caatinga vegetation. In the last 20 years,
this area has become an important agricultural frontier for Brazil.
According to the general coordinator of the research, Jos Marengo,
from the National Center for Monitoring and Early Warning of
Natural Disasters (CEMADEN) and first author of the study, the
objective of the work was to evaluate if what is occurring in the
eastern Amazon happens in the Matopiba region. And, in fact, we
observed that it does. In the region where the new agricultural
frontier is being implemented, similar changes are happening to
what is observed in the eastern Amazon, he says. Aerial image of a
farm in the Matopiba region. Image courtesy of Vincius
Mendona/IBAMA. For the study, the researchers used different data
sets, including rainfall, temperature, evapotranspiration and
vegetation indexes for the period from 1981-2020. We observed that

and Bahia states, there isThis article was originally published on

Technology changes all aspects of our lives as it has done
throughout history, and this includes many aspects of social work.
In recent years there have been a number of significant
technological changes that have made social work different from
even just five years ago. While the general aim of social work
remains the same in helping support people through difficult times,
technology has changed how aspects are carried out, and
increasingly social workers need to become more proficient with
technology in order to use these new tools to their best
advantage.
Interacting with clients
Traditionally social workers could only interact with clients in
person, via a telephone call, or through written communication.
Technology has transformed this by offering many more ways to
communicate. A significant change that has been seen in recent
years is telehealth. This allows counseling sessions to be held via
the Internet using video calls. This was essential during
the Covid-19 pandemic when face-to-face meetings became
dangerous, but there are also other benefits.
It can save considerable time by cutting out the travel needed
between clients and allows social workers a wider reach. Other than
in exceptional circumstances, telehealth should not completely
replace face-to-face meetings. But it can be particularly useful
for check-ins between sessions.
Training and education
The Internet provides a wealth of methods for social workers to
keep their knowledge up to date. Articles, videos, and webinars can
be found at a touch of a button. At the same time, forums provide
opportunities for social workers to discuss aspects of care with
each other, gaining valuable insights from their fellow
professionals and sharing their knowledge. Social workers can also
attend conferences remotely, allowing them to hear speakers or
participate in workshops that might otherwise be impossible due to
distance and time constraints.
For those considering starting a social work career, technology
can play a major part from the very beginning. Traditionally a
social work degree has required students to attend a university.
This remains a popular method, and thanks to the In...

aetiological role for aluminium in breast cancer. Herein I will
revisit the chapter in my book and examine the case for aluminium
anew.
My interest in breast cancer was sparked by the research of
oncologist Philippa Darbre linking breast cancer incidence and
occurrence with the regular use of antiperspirants. My interest in
these cosmetics went back much further and I was concerned that antiperspirants were
significant contributors to the body burden of aluminium. Please read my book for an account of
the history, but to cut a long story short, I collaborated with
Darbre and we showed that breast tissue biopsies obtained from
women with breast cancer contained aluminium. Of particular
interest was that breast tissues closest to the underarm
consistently contained a higher content of aluminium. Of course, our research was ignored by
the breast cancer community and campaigned against by breast cancer
charities, including the charity that provided the breast tissue
biopsies used in our study! However, it was followed up by a number
of research groups in Europe and the US and evidence began to be
put forward to support aluminium as a carcinogen in breast cancer. Perhaps foremost amongst these
groups is research led by Stefano Mandriota in Switzerland.
Mandriota, an oncologist of some repute, showed that mouse mammary
epithelial cells underwent malignant transformations upon exposure
to aluminium. Aluminium-induced tumours were the result of
genomic instability. The most recent publication from this
group highlights the importance of chromosome instability in
aluminiums carcinogenicity. Mandriotas meticulous cell and
animal studies are building the case for a role for aluminium in
breast cancer. These studies continue today and deserve our full
support.
A role for aluminium in breast cancer is not dependent upon a
link to the regular use of antiperspirants. However, the most
definitive clinical trial yet to fully investigate such a link

A former White House official has acknowledged the reality of

The concept of Continuous Integration (CI) is a powerful tool in
software development, and its not every day we get a look at how
someone integrated automated hardware testing into their system.
[Michael Orenstein] brought to our attention the Hardware CI Arena, a framework for doing exactly that
across a variety of host OSes and microcontroller
architectures.
Help employees beat loneliness with stronger connections
Most people are social beings and need human connection and
community to thrive. Were shaped by our social environments and
studies show that our wellbeing depends on our connections to
others. And while our individual needs and preferences around
social interactions fluctuate, varying from person to person and
from one season of life to the next, I firmly believe that feeling
like were part of something bigger than ourselves is a net
positive. Feeling connected can provide a sense of belonging and
shared purposeboth of which are shown to be key ingredients in our
long-term wellbeing and happiness.

De NRC beweert
opgewonden: De wereld kijkt
gespannen naar chaos in Rusland
De krant die als beginsel steun aan de
NAVO heeft, is dit weekeinde kennelijk de hele wereld
afgereisd om deze propaganda te verspreiden. Rtim 7 miljard
aardbewoners kijken 'gespannen.'
Het grappige is dat de NRC daarmee
verraadt hoe fanatiek zij is.
Dit schreef ik
vijf jaar geleden:
NRC kent als beginsel het verdedigen van
de NAVO. In het kader daarvan adviseerde
de NRC-redactie op 20 maart 2003, de dag dat de
illegale Shock and Awe-inval in Irak begon:
Nu de oorlog is begonnen, moeten president Bush en
premier Blair worden gesteund. Die steun kan niet blijven steken in
verbale vrijblijvendheid. Dat betekent dus politieke steun - en als
het moet ook militaire.
Nu de westerse mainstream-media ditmaal een
propaganda-oorlog tegen Rusland is begonnen, die op een werkelijke
oorlog kan uitlopen, is het belangwekkend het

Los Angeles, CA Katerina Pavelek, a Slovakian model and
Hollywood actress, ended her life in a Swiss clinic this past
weekend at the age of 41 (June 17, 2023) (Pegasos Swiss
Association, Basel).
Kat was an actress, so she also had to follow the vaccine
requirements stipulated by the entertainment industry and unions if
she wanted to be able to work. But then Kat became very sick. So
sick that last week, she chose to end her life at a Swiss clinic
specialized in assisted suicide. (click

This past weekend, Kats friends many of them in entertainment
held a picnic and a last farewell for their actress friend on a
beach in Malibu. (click

In July 2021, Kat worked with Uma Thurman on a movie. COVID-19
vaccine mandates were not in place yet.
The internet was and still is abuzz about Prigozhin's complete
meltdown. The NAFO crowd was reacting like it was the end of Putin
and Moscow was being sacked. The fake news was never ending. The
Russophiles spun everything harder than a Trumpanzee into a game of
4D chess where the whole thing was just a psyop. A psyop with no
obvious gains. There was no attack on Wagner and no coup, just a
theatrical jar shaker who fell on his face. There was an open spaz
out by a delusional neurotic rich guy losing his toy. The crusty
old Jewish oligarch for one did not create Wagner, and was a not a
military planner. He never served in the military and has no
military experience despite always wearing a uniform. He was a weak
but wealthy old man trying desperately to hold onto power. At the
end of June Wagner units were being absorbed into different Russian
military outfits. This was too much for the gremlin. He had been at
odds with the Russian defense ministry for many months. He

A top Canadian politician has taken the unprecedented step of
admitting that the government was wrong about vaccines while
issuing an apology to the unvaccinated.
Since the Covid pandemic first emerged in 2020, Canada has
enforced some of the strictest, most tyrannical measures of any
nation in the Western world.
Those who chose not to get vaccinated, however, were stripped of
their freedom to travel or visit public places.
Air travel and public transportation were limited to only those
who provided proof of vaccinations with so-called
vaccine passports.
And yet, despite the governments draconian tactics, Danielle
Smith, the current premier of Alberta in Canada, has just done
something remarkable.
According to a new report from
Revolver News, Smith took the bold and unprecedented step of
apologizing to unvaccinated Canadians whove faced unfair treatment
from the government throughout the pandemic.
Smith didnt stop at just issuing an apology, however.
The top official has now promised that anyone who was terminated
from their job because of their choice to be unvaxxed will be
reinstated.
Comedian and conservative podcaster Jimmy Dore was actually
blown away by this apology and covered it at length.
WATCH:
This apology and promise from Smith send a powerful message to
the globalist elite: You were all wrong, and everybody knows
it.
The verdict is in. Joe Biden is the worst president in the
entire history of the United States, and that is really saying
something because we have had some absolutely horrible
presidents. Just about everything that Biden has done since
he entered the White House has turned out badly, and our once great
nation is now barreling down a deeply self-destructive path.
If we do not reverse course, our country is not going to have a
future, and more Americans than ever are losing faith in the
federal government. In fact, a brand new survey has
discovered that a lack of faith in the government in Washington is
motivating large numbers of Americans to hoard
water, food, warm clothing, weapons, and cash for the extremely
chaotic times that are ahead of us
People watching President Joe Bidens shaky grip on
Washington have lost faith the government will protect them in a
doomsday event, and thats driving a national prepper movement.
With the Doomsday Clock the closest to midnight it
has ever been, over 70% in a new survey of 6,200 said they do not
have faith in the government in a catastrophe such as a nuclear war
or even climate-change-fueled disaster.
As a result, many are hoarding water, food, warm
clothing, weapons, and cash to help them get through the worst days
of a doomsday event.
These days, companies that are helping people get prepared for
what is coming are generating more revenue than ever before.
Those aged 40-65 are more likely to be prepping, and
twice as many men as women are getting ready for a disaster.
Just what that disaster will be is dividing the
nation. Some 55% cited climate change, 36% virus and disease, and
25% a nuclear attack. But there were other concerns. Over 15% are
concerned about an asteroid strike, 15% about a robot or artificial
intelligence takeover, and 7.5% about a zombie apocalypse.
It doesnt surprise me that middle-aged Americans are the most
likely to be prepping.
I have noticed that a lot of young people under the age of 40
just dont understand the changes that we are witnessing all around
us....
FROM 2011: Famed microbiologist and UN weapons
inspector Dr. David Kelly became the centre of a dispute between
the BBC and the UK government over claims that the government had
sexed up its dossier on Saddams weapons of mass destruction in
order to sell the Iraq war to the public. He was found dead on
Harrowdown Hill on July 18, 2003. It was ruled a suicide. Today we
look at the troubling discrepancies, inconsistencies and questions
surrounding that official verdict, and broach the question of what
secrets Dr. Kelly may have taken to the grave

The Navy knew those people on The Fisher-Price submarine were
dead a couple of hours after they went down to the sediment of The
Worlds biggest bathtub. One of The Worlds biggest egotists of all
time, James Cameron; also known as The King of The World who spends
all his time underwater; he knew they were dead too or at least he
wants us to know this, which is why he went out of his way to brag
about it after the fact.
Why was The World not informed at the time? A major shitstorm of
media hysteria ensued taking up most of a week toying with public
emotions over the hope that there was hope. Ah! I see. It was a
distraction from The Hunter Biden Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free scam. You
can expect more and more of this sort of thing now that Mr.
Apocalypse and Lady Awakening have been given the power to wake up
the populations by any means necessary.
Yes the force of awakening has just been increased many-fold.
This is one of the reasons that Pride went belly up this year. It
is why the Communist insurgency is being confronted on the
grass-roots level. It is why middle school children are rebelling
against the sexual programming.
I need to ask the reader a question. Feel free to take a few
moments to reflect on the matter before ignoring it altogether.
(grin) If there is an ever-rising number of real genders how come
you can only be changed from a man into a simulated woman or from a
woman to a simulated man? Shouldnt you be able to change into any
of these other genders as well? Does this verify that its all
mental illness? Yes we already knew that.
