Was htte man besser machen knnen?

Polands Top Military Official Shared Some Unpopular Truths About The NATO-Russian Proxy War "IndyWatch Feed War"

BY ANDREW KORYBKO | APRIL 29, 2023

The last time that Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces General Rajmund Andrzejczak generated media attention was in late January after he elaborated on how formidable Russia remained at the time, but now hes once again making headlines for building upon this assessment. Polands Do Rzecy reported on his recent participation in a strategy session with the National Security Bureau, during which time he shared some unpopular truths about the NATO-Russian proxy war in Ukraine.

Andrzejczak said that the situation doesnt look good for Kiev at all when considering the economic dynamics of this conflict, with him drawing particular attention to finance, infrastructure issues, social issues, technology, and food production, et al. From this vantage point, he predicts that Russia can continue conducting its special operation for 1-2 more years before it begins to feel any structural pressure to curtail its activities.

By contrast, Kiev is burning through tens of billions of dollars worth of aid, yet it still remains very far away from achieving its maximum objectives. Andrzejczak candidly said that Polands Western partners arent properly assessing the challenges that stand in the way of Ukraines victory, including those connected to the race of logistics/ war of attrition that the NATO chief declared in mid-February. Another serious problem concerns refugees unwillingness to return to their homeland anytime soon.

These economic, logistical, and population factors combined to convince him that he must urgently raise the greatest possible awareness of these problems in order to give Ukraine a chance to build its secure future, which in the context that he shared this motivation, is a euphemism for even more Western aid. He elaborated by adding that As a soldier, I am also obliged to present the most unfavorable and difficult to implement variant, giving a field to all those who can and should help Ukraine.

Nobody should therefore doubt Andrzejczaks intentions or suspect that hes a so-called Russian agent since he sincerely wants the West to win its proxy war with Russ...

Wilson Oruma: Dilemma Of An Olympic Gold Medalist "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

  WILSON ORUMA

LAGOS APRIL 29TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Many Nigerian fans still remember with glee that July 31, 1996 night, when Nigerias U-23 side overcame huge favourites Brazil, who paraded a star-studded side that had Ronaldo de Lima, Rivaldo, Bebeto, Roberto Carlos, Dida amongst others in the semi-finals of that years Olympic Games in Atlanta, USA.

In front of 78,587 fans at the Sanford Stadium, Athens, the Nigerians came from 3-1 down to win the tie 4-3 in extra time courtesy of captain Nwankwo Kanus Golden Goal.

Many of the fans also remember how Wilson Orumas pass from just after the halleway line to Victor Ikpeba erroneously landed on the back of the then Monaco forwards back, rather than on his path.

Well, no problem. Kanu calmly collected the ball in front of the box, waltzed past his Brazilian marker before firing past Dida, in goal for the South Americans, to fire Nigeria to the final of the Olympics mens football tournament for the first time ever.

Nigeria went on to beat Argentina 3-2 in the final to claim their first football gold at the global sports showpiece.

Twenty seven years after that triumph, a lot has happened to Oruma, one of the heroes of that historical triumph.

On Friday, a video clip showed the retired midfielder lying helpless on a bed in an unidentified hospital.

In the video, the Olympic gold medalist is on a drip and snoring on his sick bed, while receiving treatment via the urinary catheters.

His ex-teammates also didnt know Orumas ailment or the hospital he is receiving treatment.

I saw the video as well and I have been trying to find out what really happened to Wilson, Dosu told Saturday PUNCH.

Wilson Oruma? Not again, another of his Atlanta teammate Sunday Oliseh said.

Its unfortunate. I feel for him and I wish him speedy recovery.

After a club career in Europe, where he played for the likes of french Ligue 1 sides Lens, Marseille, Sochaux, Guingamp, as well as a stint at Swiss side Servette, winning the UEFA Intertoto Cup, Ligue 1 and French Cup, and earning pay to sustain himself and family after life away from football, Orumas calculation didnt go according to plan after he retired from the game.

Has the NATO boss lost his mind? "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Martin Jay | Strategic Culture Foundation | April 28, 2023

So NATO now is planning on making Ukraine a member, or at least this is the rhetoric coming from its secretary general who recently announced it. Given that the very essence of what the Ukraine war is about is membership of this 31 member defence organisation it would seem unfitting for Stoltenberg to make such an announcement, especially considering that Hungary would always veto such an idea anyway.

So whats really behind this latest news item? Here are the five ways to interpret the subject of Ukraine becoming a NATO member. Buckle up.

News fodder not to be taken seriously. Could Stoltenberg just be bluffing? Its quite possible, given the lack of any progress or battle victories on the side of Ukraine that he is concerned about the lull in media coverage and needs to throw the journalists a bone to chew on, to distract them away from reporting Ukraine is losing the war. And this NATO membership subject would certainly do that for a couple of weeks while Ukrainian troops cede defeat in Bakhmut which is slowly being taken by Russia. Although this town is not considered a prize by either side, it is still a crush to the morale of Ukrainian forces who have taken heavy losses and will always be a negative talking point for western journalists or the few who at least decide to report on Ukraines loss there.

Preparing for NATO troops to fight in Ukraine. It is entirely possible that NATO members and its chief are in a panic mode now that well over 100 bn dollars given to the Ukrainians in the last year seems to have vanished in terms of battlefield hardware with no real progress in sight; and also that the spring offensive which Ukraine is preparing which would probably target the Crimean bridge and strategic towns like Mariupol is being prepared for but is highly risky. For Ukraine to make any headway the offensive needs to be bold and this all-or-nothing game plan is worrying NATO as, in the event of heavy losses, it will push the West into a corner in how they explain this to their own voters (especially with U.S. election campaigning expected to start at the end of the summer). Are things so desperate that the Plan B that Stoltenberg has is that NATO troops probably from eastern European countries that have the most to lose will be sent to Ukraine? And that this NATO membership story is a ruse to prepare the west for this scenario as if NATO were to make Ukraine a member immediately, then, in theory Article 5 would apply and it would be an automatic process to send other NATO troops there?

Preparing for mercenaries from neo-Nazi groups in Europe to be sent there. This no...

Wests efforts to isolate Russia have failed Lavrov "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

RT | April 29, 2023

The West has failed to isolate Russia, with the majority of the world still interested in maintaining good relations with Moscow, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said. He also argued that the trend toward multipolarity is irreversible, whether former colonial powers like it or not.

Addressing the World Online Conference on Multipolarity on Saturday, Lavrov said that Washingtons and its satellites efforts to reverse history, to force the international community to live by the invented rules-based order are proving to be a fiasco, citing the total failure of the West to isolate Russia.

According to the foreign minister, a number of countries, which combined are home to 85% of the worlds population, have made it clear that they will not do the bidding of the former colonial powers.

The Russian diplomat said the fact that delegates from several dozen nations from nearly every continent attended the online forum shows just how much traction the idea of multipolarity has gained.

Lavrov noted that new global centers are emerging in Eurasia, the Indo-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, and that these nations are pursuing independent policies guided by national interests.

According to the foreign minister, developing nations have been steadily expanding their share in the global economy over the past three decades, while the role of the G7 nations has been diminishing.

He also hailed the fact that more and more countries have expressed interest in joining international groups of the new kind, such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Russia, Lavrov explained, champions a multipolar world order based on respect for the UN charter, and a balance of interests as opposed to a balance of fear.

President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Moscow will not abide by the so-called rules invented and imposed by certain countries.

Also on Friday, while addressing members of the SCO, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu claimed that the West is putting unprecedented pressure on independent countries to pit them against Russia and China, and undermine the rise of the multipolar world.

On Monday, Lavrov called for the expansion of Asian, African, and Latin American representation in the UN Security Council, arguing that the West is over-represented in the international body.

This Elephant Peels Bananas, but Only Slightly Ripe Ones "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Studying the rare ability may shed light on how the animals learn:

Do you peel bananas from the top or bottom? One elephant goes with a third option.

When handed a slightly browning banana, Pang Pha, an Asian elephant at Zoo Berlin, will use her trunk to break the fruit, shake the pulp onto the ground, discard the peel and then shove the pulp into her mouth, researchers report in the April 10 Current Biology. The rare behavior, previously recorded in just a few elephants, could help shed light on how the animals learn complex movements.

When a zookeeper first told neuroscientist Lena Kaufmann of Humboldt University of Berlin that one of the elephants peeled bananas, she decided to test it out for herself. For weeks, Kaufmann and colleagues couldn't get Pang Pha to replicate the behavior. That's because the way the elephant eats bananas seems to depend on ripeness.

Pang Pha ate green and yellow bananas whole peel and all. It was only when Kaufmann offered the gentle giant a brown-spotted banana that she revealed her peeling prowess. But the fruit can't be too brown, Kaufmann's team found. Pang Pha rejected completely brown bananas. Initially she would place them gently on the ground in protest. Now she throws them aside.

[...] The new study shows the value of studying individual animals, Kaufmann says. "There's such a rich landscape of behaviors that we lose if we only look at what all elephants have in common," she says. "If you look at each individual elephant, you can see that they're able to do really amazing things."

This AI Hunts for Hidden Hoards of Battery Metals "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

In June 2022, six Boeing 737sfully loaded with tents, food, satellite Internet equipment, drones, geophysical survey gear, drilling equipment, and a team of experienced geologistsflew to a remote airstrip in northern Quebec. The geologists were hunting for major deposits of the minerals needed to power a clean-energy future. Given the mix of cutting-edge scientific computing and old-school bravado, it was as though they were channeling Alan Turing and Indiana Jones simultaneously.

Our startup, KoBold Metals, acquired an 800-square-kilometer mineral claim in the region based in part on predictions from our artificial intelligence systems. According to the AI, there was good reason to believe wed find valuable deposits of nickel and cobalt buried below the surface. Summer snowmelts in this near-arctic region created a brief window to bring in a small villages worth of equipment and personnel to test our predictions.

We cofounded KoBold in 2018 with backing from Bill Gatess Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Silicon Valley venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. Our goal is to develop ways to discover major new deposits of vital metals needed for electric vehicle (EV) batteriesfor which there is an enormous and growing need.

Were trying to transform mineral exploration from a manual, judgment-guided, trial-and-error process into a data-driven and scalable science. Its the mother of all needle-in-a-haystack problems: Find the significant minable deposits of cobalt, copper, lithium, and nickel resting anywhere from 100 to 2,000 meters deep in the Earths surface.

A white helicopter carrying a large loop many times its size beneath it flies over an evergreen forest. In order to survey large areas quickly, KoBold uses a helicopter carrying a transmitter coil loop 35 meters in diameter that can detect conductive bodies, such as ore deposits...

Ending War and Restoring Democracy in Sudan "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

Being keen to bring about lasting peace for the people of Sudan and safeguard the countrys unity, sovereignty, and stability; and

Being aware that the ultimate goal of this ongoing war is to militarize life in the country and uproot the very foundations of civil life and the democratic rule laid down by the December Revolution, which peacefully managed to thwart the despotism of the Islamists and the defunct National Congress Party (NCP); and

In light of the new reality brought about by the war which erupted on 15 April and its aftermath, we have decided to join forces under the banner of The Civilian Front for Ending the War and Restoring Democracy, to achieve the following goals:

I dont qualify at all "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Answers in Genesis is looking for a full-time high school science teacher. Im not looking for a new job, but even if I were, Im stunned by how supremely unqualified I am for this position.

The qualified individual must be an evangelical Christian committed to living a biblical lifestyle in all areas and in full agreement with the schools statement of faith. The teacher is expected to be in alignment with the science and biblical positions held at Answers in Genesis and able to teach science from a biblical worldview in the classroom. The teacher must also be able to distinguish operational vs historical science as well as be able to articulate the evolutionary beliefs correctly while being able to refute them biblically and scientifically. The teacher must also have a good understanding of AiGs presuppositional apologetic approach and know how to incorporate it in the classroom.

The teacher shall be one who feels called of God to the teaching profession. The teacher must maintain a teachable spirit while demonstrating patience, humility, integrity, and kindness while performing his/her day-to-day duties. He/she must be devoted to prayerfully work with administration, faculty, students, and parents to develop and maintain a school which is thoroughly Christian and academically exceptional. The teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the glory of God.

Thinking Inside the Box "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Last week, I wrote about NASAs technology demonstrator projects, and how theyve been runaway successes both the Mars rovers and the current copter came from such experimental beginnings. I argued that letting some spirit of experimentation into an organization like NASA is probably very fruitful from time to time.

And then a few days later, we saw SpaceX blow up a rocket and completely shred its launch platform in the process. Or maybe it was the other way around, because it looks like the concrete thrown up by the exhaust may have run into the engines, causing the damage that would lead to the vehicle spinning out of control. SpaceX was already working on an alternative launch pad using water-cooled steel, but it ran what it had. Theyre calling the mission a success because of what they learned, but its clearly a qualified success. Theyll rebuild and try again.

In comparison, the other US-funded rocket run by Boeing, the SLS suffered years of delays, cost tremendous amounts of money, and has half the lift of SpaceXs Super Heavy. But it made it to space. Science was done,...

This does not mean much "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Apparently the viewership for the Fox News time slot hosted by Tucker Carlson tanked after his departure. He was replaced this week by Brian Kilmeade, the doofus who used to be on the Fox and Friends morning show where his purpose seemed to be to make his two co-hosts look smart in comparison.

Every night viewers have given an unforgiving verdict on Kilmeades efforts: by turning off in their droves.

Its a shame for Kilmeade, but a clue as to how he might be received had already come early on Monday.

Join me tonight at 8 pm! he tweeted an hour before his show started a now Tucker-free Fox News line-up. It turned out that not only did people not want to join Kilmeade, they were furious that he was going to be on air in place of their fallen hero.

Not a chance in hell ya sellout, was one of the more polite online responses, while someone else noted: Id rather watch grass grow.

On Monday the audience for Kilmeade, a less angry, less charismatic, apparently less race-obsessed host, was 47% of the number Carlson had attracted a week earlier, according to the Los Angeles Times.

It isnt just that Carlsons departure has turned off viewers. The hastily renamed Fox News Tonight show appears to have actively driven people to Fox News competitors, with Newsmax in particular, seeing record ratings.

Things did not get better as the week went on.

In the days following Carlsons dismissal, things didnt go so well for Fox News ratings-wise. Carlson was averaging about 3 million viewers for what would be his last week. His replacement got 2.59 million on Monday, 1.7 million on Tuesday, and 1.33 million on Wednesday, at which point MSNBCs Chris Hayes won the slot. Perhaps more worrying for Fox, its conservative news rival, Newsmax, has seen its 8 pm viewership increase by hundreds of thousands of people. Its still nowhere close to overtaking Fox, but we know from the Dominion lawsuit texts that the network is terrified of losing viewers, especially to Newsmax.

I do not think we can draw any significant conclusions from this. This was to be expected. Fox had to know that their ratings would take a hit after Carlsons firing. It is likely that many of the viewers will come back slowly. Fox probably chose Kilmeade as the sacrificial lamb to get slaughtered in the initial ratings because he never had a chance of being the permanent replacement. The person they groom to be the permanent host will have the benefit of being compared to Kilmeade.

There are many reasons being floated for Carlsons firing. Kevin Drum...

ABC News censors presidential candidates vaccine comments "IndyWatch Feed War"

RT | April 28, 2023

ABC News has censored an interview with US presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Joe Bidens top challenger for the Democratic Partys 2024 nomination by removing his allegedly false assertions about Covid-19 vaccines.

We should note that during our conversation, Kennedy made false claims about the Covid-19 vaccines, ABC anchor Linsey Davis said on Thursday after airing her interview with the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy.

She added that Kennedy made misleading claims contrary to research findings about a link between certain vaccines and autism. Weve used our editorial judgment in not including portions of that exchange in our interview.

Davis sparred with Kennedy during the interview, saying his past claims about vaccines causing autism had been totally debunked. As the candidate began to explain why he believes major public health agencies, such as the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), are captive, his comments were cut off. The clip then cuts to Davis pointing out that some of Kennedys family members disagree with his views on vaccines.

Im just curious, if youre not able to get your own sisters to vote for you for president, how would you make that appeal to American voters? the host asked. Kennedy replied that he has a large family with a tradition of openly discussing issues on which they disagree. Thats something that I think is a lesson we ought to learn for this country. We can disagree with each other without hating each other, without marginalizing each other. Davis shot back, Im just using your familys words to call you dangerous, rather than saying thats not like the typical family that might have disagreements around the kitchen table.

Kennedy noted on Friday that federal law prohibits broadcasters from censoring presidential candidates.

Instead of journalism, the public saw a hatchet job, he said. Instead of information, they got defamation and unsheathed pharma propaganda. Americans deserve to hear the full interview so they can make up their own minds. How can democracy function without a free and unbiased press?

Let a Hundred Schools of Thought Contend "IndyWatch Feed War"

By Michael Tomlinson | Brownstone Institute | April 28, 2023

The thrust of Let a hundred flowers bloom was that the worlds response to COVID-19 should not have been exempted from the normal processes of policy formation and development, which in a democracy have informed debate at their core. By exempting pandemic policy from critique, governments were attempting to ensure that the correct response was undertaken, but in fact increased the likelihood of falling into serious error.

Governments felt that in a public health emergency there was no time to explore policy alternatives, and it was essential to take a disciplined approach to defeat the enemy (i.e. the virus). It was necessary for governments to control information given out to the population from the centre and to suppress unreliable sources of information that might promulgate incorrect information, and thereby cause the deaths of people who were led astray from the true path.

Jacinda Ardern, the former Prime Minister of New Zealand, notoriously declared we will continue to be your single source of truth. She advised the New Zealand people to listen to the Director General of Health and the Ministry of Health and dismiss anything else.

There should be no scenarios in which governments and government agencies are the single source of truth. No organisation, no individual and no groups of individuals can be infallible. She is now headed to Harvard University to expound on disinformation with and to the best and brightest.

Therefore, we need to go through a divergent phase of policy development in the first instance, in which all the relevant diverse sources of knowledge and diverse voices are consulted. This is sometimes referred to as the wisdom of crowds, but the wisdom of crowds must be distinguished from the groupthink of herds.

The prices of companies on the stock market are thought to reflect the combined knowledge of all traders and therefore the true market price. But stock prices go through cycles of boom and bust, in which true underlying prices are distorted for a time by the famous animal spirits, and rise exponentially before falling, much like the pandemic curve indeed.

The need to bring diverse perspectives to bear on common problems is why we have parliaments and congresses instead of dictatorships. There is widespread disillusionment with parliaments, but they exemplify Winston Churchills famous dictum: Democracy is the worst form of government  except for all the others that have been tried. Deliberative decision-making in which all voices are heard is an essential safeguard which can lead to sound policy formation if deployed carefull...

Australia: Outsourced to the US Military Establishment "IndyWatch Feed War"

Its a very funny thing. In the US, the provision of services in such industries as security and intelligence is outsourced in a sprawling complex of contractors and subcontractors. In Australia, the entire military and security establishment is outsourced to Washingtons former mandarins, many of them earning a pile in consultancy fees. This, perhaps, is what Australias Defence Minister Richard Marles means when he talks about the Australian Defence Force moving beyond interoperability to interchangeability.

The list of recipients is depressingly long, and suggests that Australia has ceased to have any pretensions of sovereignty in defence matters. Take, for instance, the appointment of US Vice Admiral William Hilarides to the post of reviewing the future of the Royal Australian Navys surface fleet, for which he is pocketing US$4,000 a day. Since 2016, he has received US$1.3 million in contracts from the Australian government.

Hilarides featured in a story by the Washington Post last year, which revealed that two retired US admirals and three former US Navy civilian leaders were playing critical but secretive roles as paid advisers to the government of Australia during its negotiations to acquire top-secret nuclear submarine technology from the United States and Britain.

It gets worse. Six retired US admirals are identified as having offered their services to the Commonwealth since 2015. Hilarides was particularly keen, having retired a mere two months before seeking permission to advise the Australians on how best to extend the life of its Collins Class submarine fleet.

US Navy officials had few problems with the application, approving it within five days and forwarding it to the US State Department, which treated it as a mere formality. Hilarides, in his application, stated that he would be receiving money from a contract between the Australian Commonwealth and the consulting firm Burdenshaw Associates, based in Fairfax City, Virginia. The same firm has received US$6.8 million from the Australian taxpayer since 2015.

In a statement provided to the paper, the Australian Department of Defence revealed that Hilarides, another admiral Thomas Eccles, and a number of those on the Commonwealths Naval Shipbuilding Expert Advisory Panel, were furnishing Canberra with expert advice on the performance of the naval shipbuilding...

Timber! The Worlds First Wooden Transistor "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Transistors inside modern computer chips are several nanometers across, and switch on and off at hundreds of gigahertz. Organic electrochemical transistors, made for biodegradable applications, are milimeters in size and switch at kilohertz rates. The worlds first wooden transistor, made by a collaboration of researchers through the Wallenberg Wood Science Center and reported this week in Publications of the National Academy of Sciences, is 3 centimeters across and switches at less than one Hertz. While it may not be powering any wood-based supercomputers anytime soon, it does hold out promise for specialized applications including biodegradable computing and implanting in into living plant material.

It was very curiosity-driven, says Isak Engquist, a professor at Linkping University who led the effort. We thought: Can we do it? Lets do it, lets put it out there to the scientific community and hope that someone else has something where they see these could actually be of use in reality.

I have colleagues who are at the forefront in a field we call electronic plants. ... We have worked with dead woods for this project, but the next step might be to integrate it also into living plants.
Isak Engquist, Linkping University

Even though the wooden transistor still awaits its killer app, the idea to build wood-based electronics is not as crazy as it sounds. A recent review of wood-based materials reads, Around 300 million years of tree evolution has yielded over 60,000 woody species, each of which is an engineering masterpiece of nature. Wood has great structural stability while being highly porous and efficiently transporting water and nutrients. The researchers leveraged these properties to create conducting channels inside the woods pores and electrochemically modulate their conductivity with the help of a penetrating electrolyte.

Of the 60,000 species, the team chose balsa wood for its strength, even when one of the components of its structureligninwas largely removed to make more room for conducting materials. To remove much of the lignin, pieces of balsa wood were treated with heat and chemicals for five hours. Then, the...

China accuses US of destabilizing Korean peninsula "IndyWatch Feed World"

Washington and Seoul have agreed on the deployment of nuclear-armed US submarines to the region. US plans to send submarines armed with nuclear weapons to South Korea will likely aggravate tensions in the region, China's foreign ministry has said. Earlier this week, US President Joe Biden announced the deployment with his South Korean colleague, Yoon Suk-yeol. Speaking to the press on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning argued that the "US, in order to realize its own geopolitical interests and disregarding regional security, insisted on making use of the peninsula issue to create tension." She went on to accuse Washington of being stuck in a Cold War mentality as well as undermining the nuclear non-proliferation system and efforts to denuclearize the Korean peninsula. On Wednesday, President Biden received his South Korean counterpart at the White House where the two leaders unveiled the 'Washington Declaration.'

Democrats Float Bill To Allow LGBTQ Migrants To Walk Into U.S. Unrestricted "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

Hundreds of Africans at the U.S. border with Mexico recently

Steve Watson SUMMIT.News April 26, 2023

Democrats in the House and the Senate have floated legislation that would allow undocumented migrants to effectively walk into the U.S. unrestricted if they declare they are LGBTQ+, prompting border officials to warn that suddenly everyone is going to be LGBTQ.

The legislation, introduced last week, would make it more difficult to detain illegal immigrants if they are catagorised as vulnerable persons.

The wording of the legislation, titled The Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act, makes it clear that anyone who is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or intersex is thereby subject to a greater risk of persecution and discrimination in their home countries, and so should not be detained or removed from the U.S. by authorities.

The legislation also asserts that migran ts with limited English language proficiency are also more vulnerable and could qualify for the special status.

How does one go about proving that an undocumented migrant really identifies as intersex?

You can see where this is heading.

Speaking to the Daily Caller, Border Patrol agents warned that the move will lead to migrants falsely claiming to be members of the LGBTQ community as a ticket into the country.

Ive only seen a handful of LGBTQ [migrants], but if this is passed I guarantee everyone is going to be LGBTQ, one agent noted, with another adding Someone told them in essence just say youre gay.

A third agent asserted I think its a joke. No one gets special treatment down here. They are all breaking the law and have to go through detainment and processing just like anyone else.

A fourth agent told the outlet Its just another incentive or tool for them to use to get into our country, with no restrictions. They would be backed by our own government approval, which will only encourage more illegal entry and a reason to gain free entry.

Many of them would think they would getter better treatment, expedited processing or complete immunity when it came down to their court date, the agent further emphasised.

It feels like a slap in the face to Border Patrol Agents, the agent continued, adding Weve literally been wondering how much worse things can get under the Biden Administration.

In a ceremony held in the presence of the President of Congo and Eni's CEO, the Congo LNG project was officially inaugurated, heralding the country's journey towards becoming a thriving natural gas exporter

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, April 28, 2023/APO Group/ -- In a significant development for the energy sector, the President of the Republic of the Congo, H.E. Denis Sassou Nguesso, and Claudio Descalzi, CEO of global energy major Eni, gathered on April 25 to lay the foundation stone for the Congo Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project. This groundbreaking initiative represents the country's inaugural venture into natural gas liquefaction and serves as a crucial diversification strategy for Eni.

With a projected annual output of 3 million tons (equivalent to approximately 4.5 billion cubic meters per year) by 2025, the project holds immense potential for the Republic of the Congo's energy sector. The project includes an accelerated development schedule and a zero-flaring approach, comprising the installation of two floating LNG (FLNG) plants which will process gas from the Nen and Litchendjili fields already in production as well as any new fields that come online. The FLNG vessels will have a production capacity of 0.6 million tons per annum (mtpa) and 2.4 mtpa, and will begin production by 2023 and 2025, respectively.

The African Energy Chamber as the voice of the African energy sector - supports the project as it represents a significant step towards achieving energy security in Africa by leveraging natural gas resources. Congo LNG will play a pivotal role in meeting the energy needs of the Republic of Congo, while also bolstering economic growth and offering valuable export opportunities.

The establishment of Congo LNG reflects the country's fortitude to unlock the potential of its natural resources and strengthen its position in the global energy market. By harnessing gas reserves and embracing LNG production, the Republic of the Cong...

Quantum materials for energy-efficient neuromorphic computing: Opportunities and challenges "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Neuromorphic computing approaches become increasingly important as we address future needs for efficiently processing massive amounts of data. The unique attributes of quantum materials can help address these needs by enabling new energy-efficient device concepts that implement neuromorphic ideas at the hardware level. In particular, strong correlations give rise to highly non-linear responses, such as conductive phase transitions that can be harnessed for short-and long-term plasticity. Similarly, magnetization dynamics are strongly non-linear and can be utilized for data classification. This Perspective discusses select examples of these approaches and provides an outlook on the current opportunities and challenges for assembling quantum-material-based devices for neuromorphic functionalities into larger emergent complex network systems.

Yes, I did see John Wick: Chapter 4 "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

I dont have a lot to say about it. Its 2 hours of solid, non-stop chop-sockie and gun-fu, strung together on an increasing thin, baroque plot built around an imaginary and deeply improbable society of assassins. Time flew by! You dont get to think, because if there is a brief pause that might give you a moment to consider the weirdness of the story, theres a kinetic distraction that will fly in from stage right with a knife or a pistol or a seriously vicious dog. Which is OK, I guess, its a popcorn movie with no time to eat popcorn.

I was quickly desensitized to all the murder, but there was something that bothered me greatly. John Wick gets beat up badly hes hit by cars multiple times, and everyone I mean everyone is punching and kicking him. Theres one scene where he has to run up 222 stairs to get to a deadly appointment, and it is of course lined with bad guys who are continuously shooting and punching him, and he gets to the top and one of the heavies knocks him down and he rolls down the stairs. I dont mean he falls hard he rolls down all of the stairs in a long scene that is comical in its overdoneness.

That hit home. I dont often get shot at or stabbed, but I have sometimes twisted an ankle or overdone the walking or stretched wrong in bed and ended up hobbling and aching for days or weeks. I just wanted to say, John, dont get up. Youre gonna need lots of ibuprofen, and you might want to ice your whole body for a while. Get some rest, John. Oh, sure, I could watch him persevere in a gun battle with thousands of enemies and not blink an eye, but it was the falls that were just too relatable.

I sincerely hope that there isnt a John Wick: Chapter 5. The franchise has been thoroughly milked at this time, and it would be a good idea to move on creatively. But most of all, I feel for Keanu Reeves, who had to have exhausted himself making this movie.

Keanu, youve got to be popping painkillers and icing every joint in your body. Get some rest, Keanu.

Meeting of the Defense Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Delhi "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

By Gilbert Doctorow | April 28, 2023

One quite important event today in global politics is unlikely to receive coverage in The New York Times, The Financial Times, the BBC or Euronews.  I have in mind the meeting in Delhi of the defense ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The SCO is one of the two principal bodies that bring together the nations that are today challengers to the US-dominated world order. The other such body is BRICS.

Whereas BRICS is primarily an economic fraternity with focus on commercial relations among its members, meaning a platform of Soft Power, the SCO is primarily a Hard Power fraternity focusing on the security of its member states. It is also more limited geographically, concentrated on Eurasia. Its founding members were China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Today it also includes Uzbekistan, India and Pakistan. Among the states accorded observer status are Afghanistan, Mongolia and Iran. And at its edges as dialogue partners are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Egypt, Nepal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and Turkey.

There were a couple of outstanding and newsworthy developments at the SCO gathering in India today. One was the speech delivered by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Several minutes from this speech were carried on Russian news channels and what we heard was Shoigu declaring that from the start of the Special Military Operation in Ukraine the Collective West was throwing all of its military assets against Russia.

The other noteworthy development was the side meeting of Shoigu and his Chinese counterpart Li Shangfu. They were shown on television walking side by side to that meeting. Russian news tells us that Li used their meeting to extend an invitation to Shoigu to visit him in Beijing, and that Shoigu accepted.

The impact on the other SCO member states, observers and dialogue partners of these close and fast developing relations between the Russian and Chinese defense ministries cannot be overstated. Today they were all direct witnesses of this fact.  Among other things, this spells the end of opportunities for Central Asian states to play Russia off against China in obtaining favors, as Western media believed they were doing. It completely vitiates all efforts by U.S. Secretary of State Blinken over the past several months to pressure these same Central Asian countries into loosening or breaking ties with Moscow. These states are now all caught between a rock and a hard place.

Waterspout forms offshore Sunny Isles Beach moving north into Hallandale Beach area, Florida "IndyWatch Feed World"

A waterspout was seen Friday morning in the waters off the coast of Sunny Isles Beach. While flying over for a different story, Chopper 6 caught video of the waterspout around 11 a.m. off the coast. The spout lasted for several minutes and never moved closer to land. It comes one week after a waterspout moved on shore at Hollywood Beach and quickly dissipated, National Weather Service officials said.

An Open Letter to The New Media "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Congratulations, my friends, you slew the ogre!

Im referring, of course, to the old media the conglomerates of reporting and distribution that served as a gate-keeper to the public awareness the monopolistic controllers of public punditry that brought us Cronkite, and Rather, and endless CIA-promoted talking points in the New York Times. It didnt die in a glorious battle, though, it died by being suffocated with a plastic bag over its head. And, unfortunately, youre in the process of slowly discovering that you suffocated yourselves, too, in the process.

The old media had a comfortable relationship with the advertising industry which paid lots of money and it ran their important messages in tasteful, easily ignored, corners of its work. We consumers could predict that the ads on the TV shows would come every 1/2 hour at the top and bottom of the dial, until it became every 15 minutes. We could predict that there would be ads wedged between the columns of the newspaper, where our eyes could seamlessly flick past them. And, because this was not too annoying, and was manageable, the consumers of media put up with it, mostly, and subscribed sometimes. Sure, there were complaints and threats of regulation when a product placement in a movie was just a little bit too obvious, or whatever, but the landscape of media crap was in a fairly stable homeostasis enough so that we were willing to subscribe to the newspapers, magazines, go to the movies, or watch free television with its built-in snack and bathroom breaks. The old media sucked, sure, but it was a regulated, genteel, sort of suck.

Then, the new media came along and pulled off what has to be one of the greatest feats of indirection of all time: you collectively said its free! and forced the old media, which charged money, to compete against free. Who would pay to have ink-covered dead trees delivered to their door when they can click over to a free website where theres virtually unlimited quantities of, well, stuff produced on the cheap, often, in order to tease consumer eyeballs away. It wasnt obviously predatory because the new media preyed on itself as much as it did on the old media, but what it did was suck all the oxygen out of the subscription-based media model, rendering the old media unsustainable and bankrupting it. We consumers cheerfully played along with this, because we didnt really love the old media that much to begin with and besides, the new media was free and it just seems impossibly stupid to expect your consumers to pay for something over here that they can get for free over there wi...

A sinkhole has swallowed a Tesla Model Y in Taiwan. CCTV footage captured the moment the SUV, which can cost up to USD $95,000, was sucked into the void too. The footage, posted to Twitter by @notonlywater shows a section of road opening up and sucking the Tesla and nothing but the Tesla into it. It's almost as if the sinkhole specifically targeted the Model Y.

Welcome to Frankies Airbnb "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Welcome to Frankies Place! I hope you have a terrific time staying in my converted barn-studio! Ive left you some of my best buds in the ashtray. Enjoy!

Games. I have a good selection of games: Plunk, Krazy Farm, Blinkers, and Chest. (Some of the pieces might be missing from Chest.) I also have a foosball table, which doubles as the dining table when you put the BP sign over it.

Pets. Please feed my pets. My Acid Ball Python (Monty) eats three mice a day. (The mice are kept in a cage under the sink, by the roach spray.) Monty suffers from a reptile dysfunction stress disorder so might seem a bit nippy when you try to feed him. If he gets too nippy, just give him a couple drops of his medicine, which is in a green bottle by the sink. Make sure it gets past his tongue as he tries to spit it out.

My rat (Keith) eats one mouse a day. He has Type-B diabetes, so needs an insulin shot around noon. His medicine is in a green bottle by Montys, but dont get them mixed up (the bottles look identical), or they could go psychotic.

A new shipment of mice should arrive on Monday morning and needs to be signed for at 6 a.m. Please dont miss this delivery, as both pets tend to get out of their cages if they get too hungry. (Dont forget to feed the mice too. They eat anything.)

Kitchen. Please dont use the kitchen.

Bathroom. The indoor bathroom, as youll see, is still a bit of a construction site after we had a problem with the cistern, but feel free to use the outdoor shower. The water pressure is uneven, but there should be enough water as long as you dont put the dial past 2. The toilet is just behind the skin-tanning shed.

Recycling. Frankies Place is a green place! Its imperative that you sort the recycling properly. Grade-1 plastic (PET) goes in the orange bin, grade-2 plastic (PE-HD) goes in the yellow bin, and grade-5 (PP) goes in the red bin. Note that the Cathpart County recycling program doesnt accept grades 3, 4, or 6 plastic. Make sure to separate the green and brown glass (brown goes in the green box, green goes in the brown box). Paper goes in the light blue box, but cardboard goes in the dark blue box. Note that any cardboard less than 3 mm is considered paper. Theres a ruler by the boxes. The day you leave just take all the boxes up to the end of the drive by the entrance to the cemetery.

Smoking. Fine anywhere except by the butane tank or near Monty. Keith likes it.

China shifts gear on Ukraine mediation "IndyWatch Feed World"

For all the noise out of Washington, more and more countries are integrating their supply chains with China. Even the UK Foreign Secretary is making overtures to China, while Zelensky had a "long and meaningful" phone call with Xi Jinping on Wednesday. Washington's position, sanctions and all, is disintegrating. It is too early to predict what will emerge out of the speech on Tuesday at Mansion House by the UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly outlining the government's position on China. The Global Times gave a cautious welcome. Clearly, Britain feels the urgency to dig its way out of the foxhole in which it found itself following the collapse of the Five Eyes attempt to ignite the Hong Kong protests. Britain cannot be far behind when the overall interests of European countries that enjoy deep mutually beneficial economic ties with the world's second largest economy, are manifesting as reluctance to be dragged into becoming a vanguard that confronts China. UK steams towards trade war with Turkey over ironing boards

Trade watchdog calls for tariff following surge in Turkish imports it says has unfairly hurt UK's only manufacturer

Ironing boards made by Turkey's Milenyum Metal at a Hong Kong trade fair in 2018 (Facebook)

The UK is steaming towards a possible trade war with Turkey in defence of the countrys only manufacturer of ironing boards.

In a report published this week, the UKs Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) said Turkish manufacturers had benefited from state subsidies, and UK ironing board prices had been kept unfairly low because of a surge in imports from Turkey.

It said it intended to recommend the imposition of a 4.44 percent tariff, to be paid by companies importing ironing boards from Turkey to the UK, in order to protect the British manufacturer.

Oliver Griffiths, chief executive of the TRA, said: Our provisional finding is that subsidies have kept prices of the imported goods unfairly low, causing injury to the British producer, and so were intending to recommend a new tariff on ironing boards from Turkey.

The TRA is a public body set up in 2021, following the UKs exit from the European Union, to defend the UK against unfair international trade practices.

D.C. Doctors Gone Wild "IndyWatch Feed War"

It is shameful to pressure and coerce a minor to receive a vaccine

BY AARON SIRI | INJECTING FREEDOM | APRIL 28, 2023

A recently filed lawsuit alleges that a pediatrician who works at MedStar in Washington, D.C., forcibly vaccinated two minors without parental consent. According to the lawsuit:

two minor children were held in a room by Defendant until she overcame their will and forcibly vaccinated them while physically preventing them from consulting with their mother, who was right outside the room.

As if that werent bad enough, the lawsuit further alleges:

Minor children W.M. and K.M. were additionally provided with false and fraudulent information in order to obtain purported consent to a procedure in the absence of actual or freely given consent. Specifically, Dr. Rethy told the children that they were required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend school and that they had no lawful option to decline such vaccination.

What makes this story even more incredible is that this is the same pediatric practice that sought to vaccinate a minor child in the lawsuit we brought to strike down the Minor Consent for Vaccinations Amendment Act of 2020 passed by Washington D.C. in 2020. We succeeded in winning an injunction which resulted in the repeal of that law.

Before being repealed, the law permitted doctors in D.C. to vaccinate a child, 11 years of age or older, without their parents consent or knowledge, and created an elaborate and deceitful scheme in which the healthcare provider, insurance company, school, and health department all participated to hide from those parents the fact that their child had been vaccinated. According to the law, a child did not even need to be a resident of the District of Columbia in order to be vaccinated without parental consent!

In this previous case, the minor was subject to intense pressure and coercion to get vaccinated by a doctor and her staff at MedStar in D.C. When she eventually refused the vaccines, the doctor and staff took physical positions in the room that made her feel trapped! Thankfully, she was eventually able to escape without getting vaccinated.

These lawsuits expose a deeply concerning trend that must be stopped dead in its tracks. And these lawsuits should hopefully have that exact effect.

To any doctor out there who injects a minor without parental consent, you should know this: if that childs...

Turkey elections: Voters in Germany torn between Erdogan and Kilicdaroglu

Largest constituency of voters abroad may tilt balance in tight race, as Turkish president retains support among conservative element

A voter casts his ballot in Turkey's parliamentary and presidential elections at the Consulate General of Turkey in Huerth, near Cologne, on 27 April, ahead of a 9 May deadline (AP)

While Turks living in Turkey have to wait until 14 May to cast their vote in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections, voting for Turks registered abroad began on Thursday 27 April and will be open until 9 May.

The largest bloc outside of Turkey is in Germany, where more than 1.5 million people are eligible to vote, making them an important voice in shaping the future of the country. This year, they are voting at 16 stations across Germany, three more than in 2018.

Berlin, however, has denied Ankara's request to have as many as 10 more polling stations, likely hampering voter turnout.

"This decision complicates the voting process and forces Turkish citizens to take into account longer journeys and waiting periods," Oguz Ucuncu, a parliamentary candidate for the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) seeking to represent European-Turks, told MEE.

Fatih Zingal, a spokesperson for the AKP-affiliated Union of International Democrats, described the decision as an attempt to "sabotage" people's democratic rights.

The fired Google engineer who thought its AI could be sentient says Microsofts chatbot feels like watching the train wreck happen in real time "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

The Google employee who claimed last June his companys A.I. model could already be sentient, and was later fired by the company, is still worried about the dangers of new A.I.-powered chatbots, even if he hasnt tested them himself yet.

Lemoine told the Washington Post at the time that LaMDA resembled a 7-year-old, 8-year-old kid that happens to know physics and said he believed the technology was sentient, while urging Google to take care of it as it would a sweet kid who just wants to help the world be a better place for all of us.

Sports Direct Owner Defends Live Face-recognition Camera Use "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Sports Direct owner defends live face-recognition camera use:

Sports Direct's parent company says live face-recognition (LFR) technology has cut crime in its shops.

The cameras check faces against a watch-list, using a system called Facewatch.

On Monday, 50 MPs and peers supported a letter opposing the use of LFR by Mike Ashley's Frasers Group, which owns the company and other chains such as Flannels.

The company says it tells shoppers when the technology is installed in a shop.

Frasers Group told BBC News it took its responsibilities around LFR extremely seriously and stressed its effectiveness.

"Since installing this technology, we have seen a significant reduction in the number of criminal offences taking place in our stores," it said.

The letter criticising its use was organised by campaign groups Big Brother Watch, Liberty and Privacy International.

It says research into face-recognition technology suggests;

  • 87% of "matches" in Metropolitan Police trials misidentified innocent people
  • women and people belonging to some ethnic minorities are more likely to be misidentified than white men are

The technology up-ends the democratic principle of suspicion preceding surveillance and "treats everyone who passes the camera like a potential criminal", the letter adds.

[...] Shop managers' requests to add someone to the database had to be backed-up with full witness statements and explanations, which a panel of former police officers reviewed before accepting, Mr Gordon said.

"There is due process followed to ensure we only include individuals reasonably suspected of crime," he said.

Shop staff and "accredited super-recognisers" - analysts with an aptitude for recognising faces - checked every alert, he told BBC News.

Mr Gordon disputes the accuracy claims the letter makes about the Met Police's LFR, saying Facewatch is more than 99% accurate.

His figures have not been independently audited.

Cargo vessels are some of the dirtiest vehicles in existence. Can a centuries-old technology help to clean them up?

Winston Churchill, then the minister in charge of the British Royal Navy, declared it the most perfect maritime masterpiece of the twentieth century. In 2017, as lawyers for prisoners in Ohio sought to spare their clients from lethal injection, they challenged one of the states key witnesses: Daniel Buffington.

As he had done elsewhere, the Florida-based pharmacist had submitted written testimony saying that prisoners would not feel pain from the three-drug cocktail administered by executioners. But the lawyers for the men on death row argued that Buffington was unqualified to testify in an upcoming hearing, noting that he had not administered general anesthesia or conducted research on midazolam, the key sedative in the execution protocol.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Merz denied the motion to bar Buffingtons testimony. And when prisoners lawyers challenged the pharmacist again in court, the judge stood his ground.

Hes certainly better able to understand and explain induction of anesthesia than I am, the judge said of Buffington. I have no experience of induction of anesthesia except having had anesthesia induced on my own body and watching it with my wife and my son, and thats far less than this witness has.

Merz admitted Buffington as an expert witness in that proceeding and considered his testimony.

Legal experts say such exchanges illustrate a critical weakness in the judicial system: While the law relies in part on lawyers to scrutinize experts, judges must also evaluate a host of technical issues for themselves, weighing questions like whether a forensic technique is legitimate science or whether a particular drug will anesthetize a prisoner. And some experts say jurists are not always well equipped to do so.

Its very, very hard, Patrick Schiltz, the chief U.S. district judge for the...

This Pharmacist Said Prisoners Wouldnt Feel Pain During Lethal Injection. Then Some Shook and Gasped for Air. "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

This story describes executions and violent deaths.

ProPublica is a nonprofit newsroom that investigates abuses of power. Sign up to receive our biggest stories as soon as theyre published. This story was produced in partnership with Type Investigations with support from the Puffin Foundation.

Last winter, Dr. Gail Van Norman sat on the witness stand in the federal courthouse in Oklahoma City, testifying as part of a trial that would determine whether Oklahomas lethal injection procedure was constitutional. Two weeks earlier, at the request of lawyers representing more than two dozen prisoners, Van Norman, an anesthesiologist and professor at the University of Washington, had attended the execution of a man named Gilbert Ray Postelle.

In the execution chamber, she testified, Postelle was lying face-up on a gurney with his arms stretched out beside him. Executioners injected him with midazolam, a drug that was supposed to knock him unconscious so he didnt feel pain from two drugs that would soon paralyze him and stop his heart. It didnt appear to work. For 2 1/2 minutes after receiving midazolam, Postelle continued to wiggle his hands and feet. His eyes remained open, blinking and looking up at the ceiling. Postelles breathing became increasingly strenuous and rapid. Van Norman said his trouble breathing was a result of the large dose of midazolam.

Minutes later, executioners declared Postelle unconscious and injected him with two syringes of vecuronium bromide, a drug that would paralyze him and stop him from breathing. They then flushed the IV line with saline, pushing any remaining drug into his system. That was when Van Norman saw him curl the fingers of his left hand and appear to try to make a fist. This was not a reflex movement, she said. This was a conscious movement. Officials then pumped a third drug into the IV, causing Postelles heart to stop.

Van Norman had reviewed documentation of three other executions that Oklahoma had carried out over the previous four months. I conclude that they did experience extreme pain and suffering through the execution process, she said. The feeling, she said, would be akin to suffocation. In previous testimony, other expert witnesses for the prisoners had said they would feel lik...

CISA warns of a critical flaw affecting Illumina medical devices "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

U.S. CISA released an Industrial Control Systems (ICS) medical advisory warning of a critical flaw affecting Illumina medical devices.

The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has released an Industrial Control Systems (ICS) medical advisory warning of vulnerabilities that could allow an attacker to take any action at the operating system level.

The issues impact the following products using the Illumina Universal Copy Service:

  • iScan Control Software: v4.0.0
  • iScan Control Software: v4.0.5
  • iSeq 100: All versions
  • MiniSeq Control Software: v2.0 and newer
  • MiSeq Control Software: v4.0 (RUO Mode)
  • MiSeqDx Operating Software: v4.0.1 and newer
  • NextSeq 500/550 Control Software: v4.0
  • NextSeq 550Dx Control Software:  v4.0 (RUO Mode)
  • NextSeq 550Dx Operating Software:  v1.0.0 to 1.3.1
  • NextSeq 550Dx Operating Software: v1.3.3 and newer
  • NextSeq 1000/2000 Control Software: v1.4.1 and prior
  • NovaSeq 6000 Control Software: v1.7 and prior
  • NovaSeq Control Software: v1.8

The above medical devices are used either in clinical diagnostic use in sequencing a persons DNA for various genetic conditions or for research use only (RUO).

Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities could allow an attacker to take any action at the operating system level. A threat actor could impact settings, configurations, software, or data on the affected product; a threat actor could interact through the affected product via a connected network. reads the Industrial Control Systems Medical Advisory published by CISA.

The most severe of the vulnerabilities, tracked as CVE-2023-1968 (CVSS score: 10.0), allows an unauthenticated, remote attacker to bind to an unrestricted IP address. An attacker could use UCS to listen on all IP addresses, including those capable of accepting remote communications.

A remote attacker can potentially eavesdrop on network traffic and inject arbitrary commands.

The second issue reported in the advisory, tracked as CVE-2023-1966 (CVSS score: 7.4), is an unnecessary privileges vulnerability.

An unauthenticated malicious actor could upload and execute code remotely at the operating system level, which could allow an attacker to change settings, configurations, software, or access sensitive data on the affected product. continues the advisory.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also published an advisory that remarks that an unauthorized attac...

State Covid Propaganda Destroyed Publics Ability to Consent to Vaccines Chairman of UK Council for Psychotherapy "IndyWatch Feed War"

BY DR CHRISTIAN BUCKLAND | THE DAILY SCEPTIC | APRIL 28, 2023

There follows an open letter from Dr. Christian Buckland, Chairman of the Board of the U.K. Council for Psychotherapy, to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak condemning the use of unethical psychological techniques and behavioural science on the unknowing and non-consenting U.K. public. Among numerous harms are that the use of techniques to increase fear, shame and guilt materially undermined, if not removed, the U.K. populations ability to give valid informed consent to taking a COVID-19 vaccine.

April 28th 2023

Dear Prime Minister,

I am the Chairman of the Board of the U.K. Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), one of the UKs foremost psychological governing bodies. However, I write this open letter in my own capacity. I believe I have a professional obligation to write to you in an attempt to protect the public from any further harm caused by the unethical application of psychological research and practice.

I unreservedly condemn the U.K. Governments use of unethical psychological techniques intended to elicit feelings of fear, shame and guilt, under the guise of behavioural science and insights which were designed to change the publics behaviour without their knowledge and conscious participation. It is now clear that in 2020 the U.K. Government deliberately chose to artificially inflate the level of fear within the U.K. population by exaggerating the risk factors of COVID-19, and concomitantly downplaying the protective factors. We also witnessed the Governments promotion of social disapproval and guilt messaging. These techniques were embedded into a multi-channel, co-ordinated public health campaign designed to change the publics behaviour without their knowledge. Moreover, in tandem with the mainstream media, the Government also proactively suppressed, censored and ostracised any healthcare professional or scientist who suggested alternative responses to COIVD-19, or who simply questioned the messaging and measures being implemented by the Government.

Evidence of the recommendation of using unethical psychological techniques to gain behavioural change

FEAR. This 4-letter word probably explains everything big thats happening. "IndyWatch Feed War"

BY BILL RICE, JR. | APRIL 28, 2023

Dont ask me why, but I woke up this morning thinking about fear . And how its really the fear of fear that explains every scary thing happening in our world today.

Fear of Covid is the most-recent example of how authorities and our most influential and important organizations profit from selling (and exaggerating) threats we should all fear.

Thirty years ago, few people recognized that the CDC or Faucis NIAID or the World Health Organization would obtain so much power over our lives.

Theres no need to recount the draconian mitigation measures these authorities created to compel mass compliance with their dictates.

But more citizens should probably think about how these people exploited the populations irrational fear of a respiratory virus to achieve even more immense power and control.

The greatest fear of all is death. It follows logically that any group that tells you they can and will prevent your death is probably going to receive our blind support which of course happened in Covid times.

Non-sensical fear campaigns arent new

We Are Family? "IndyWatch Feed Politics.eu"

We hear a lot about the last 20 years being a Golden Age for television and with some justification.

But right now it really feels like a Golden Age for Irish TV comedy and drama.

After years of developing directing, writing, acting and film production talent, stories set in Dublin and Cork are really making their mark.

Sharon Horgans Apple TV+ black comedy Bad Sisters was last years most exhilarating new show.

RTE and AMCs crime drama Kin with Clare Dunne, Charlie Cox and Aidan Gillen has returned for a second series after a superb debut in 2021 which really raised the bar for Irish television storytelling.

Peter Footts BBC3 and RTE sitcom The Young Offenders is currently filming a fourth series around Cork.

BBC Four has imported imperfect but fairly decent RTE shows like Hidden Assets and North Sea Connection .

And with Derry Girls, Three Families and Blue Lights making waves for the industry north of the border, indigenous talent in the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland is really getting a chance to shine even if everything produced isnt gold.

Had Bad Sisters not come on the scene last year, more people might have been talking about The Dry.

The shows been available on Britbox since last May but now the streaming services co-production with ITV and RTE has gradually made its way onto those channels terrestrial television and streaming platforms, RTE1 and ITVx.

Conceived by playwright Nancy Harris, its a caustic tale of a recovering alcoholic navigating a very messy family life in Dublin.

Its also wickedly funny.

Roisin Gallagher plays Shiv Sheridan, a thirtysomething woman who returns to her family home from London supposedly for her grannys funeral but who actually stays for much, much longer.

Shiv is hardly welcomed, though, back to the family home with open arms.

Her heavy drinking in the past has burned a lot of bridges.

But living with her dysfunc...

Biomimetic Building Facades to Reduce HVAC Loads "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

A human hand holds a stack of several plexiglass sheets with needles glued into the ends. Very faint lines can be seen in the transparent stackup.

Buildings currently consume about 50% of the worlds electricity, so finding ways to reduce the loads they place on the grid can save money and reduce carbon emissions. Scientists at the University of Toronto have developed an optofluidic system for tuning light coming into a building.

The researchers devised a biomimetic system inspired by the multi-layered skins of squid and chameleons for active camouflage to be able to actively control light intensity, spectrum, and scattering independently. While there are plenty of technologies that can regulate these properties, doing so independently has been too complicated a task for current window shades or electrochromic devices.

To make the prototype devices (15 15 2 cm), 3 mm PMMA sheets were stacked after millifluidic channels (1.5 mm deep and 6.35 mm wide) were CNC milled into the sheets. Fluids could be injected and removed by needles glued into the ends of the channels. By using different fluids in the channels, researchers were able to tune various aspects of the incoming light. Scaled up, one application of the system could b...

The Myth of the COVID-19 Pandemic and other lies Canadian Patriot with Denis Rancourt "IndyWatch Feed War"

denisrancourt | April 22, 2023

In this Canadian Patriot Podcast, Dr. Denis Rancourt explains his published findings and methods demonstrating the popular fallacy that a covid-19 virus had caused vast death prior to the vaccine rollouts in 2021. In fact, not a single death anywhere in the world can be provably tied to COVID-19, but rather the criminally incompetent (and likely intentionally criminal) protocols deployed from above nation states. Dr. Rancourt explains the real reasons for the increase in all-cause mortality across the world with a focus on the USA, Australia, Israel and India which occured only after the vaccine rollout began. A discussion on Faucis admission that he was wrong about masking protocols and the broader corruption in academic research over the past decades is also explored.

Delta:Few Days After Attack On Afiesere Flow Station, Militants Hit Hits Agbra-Otor Wellheads "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

MILITANTS

LAGOS APRIL 29TH (URHOBOTODAY)-A militia group in Delta State, South-South Nigeria, Delta Strike Force, DSF has laid claim to vandalising the Agbara-Otor oil wellheads at the flow station, in Delta State for the operators to shut down operations.

This was made known in a terse email message sent to our correspondent, Friday admitting that the group at 10:30p.m on April 27, 2023, attacked the flow station, noting that it will not relent in its efforts at crippling the activities of the oil companies in the state until the Federal Government accedes to its demands.

The General Masskiller group accused FG of abandoning them after using its members to prosecute the war against the insurgent group, the Niger Delta Avengers, NDA in 2016, but, has now turned around to award contracts to the leadership of the Avengers while leaving those, who fought them into extinction in limbo.

According to Mass killer the bombing of Agbara-Otor wellheads is one in a series of such actions coming after the recent attacks on the Afisere flow station; Kokori, all of which are in Ughelli North and Isoko North Local Government Areas of the oil-rich state.

Masskiller boasted that his group will ensure it continually undermines the porous and inept security operations around OML 30 and 34 to gallantly sustain the tempo.

According to the image maker of the militia group, until its demands are met by the NNPCL and NPDC, it wont stop bombing oil facilities in the state which it said is a prelude to full scale attacks on government infrastructure.

The Otorogun gas plant, according to Masskiller, is the groups prime target, a facility he said will receive baptism of fire soon.

The condition for Peace the group maintained; is withdrawal of the pipeline surveillance contact of OML 30 and 34 allegedly awarded by proxy to Zane Energy; an end to gas flaring in the state; commitment by the FG towards rehabilitation of the East-West Road for ease of movement; activation of the Delta Steal Company Aladja to engage Delta youths; Award of the pipeline surveillance contract to members of the Delta Strike Force, who were used to prosecute the war against Avengers in 2016; thorough investigation of those behind the award contract to Avengers.

All the promises made by the FG earlier in the year, the group want them fulfilled.

Dr. John Coleman: The transhumanist agenda is Satanic "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

This is a better description of all this.  I certainly came from a position of utter disbelief.  Yet it is also a likely expression of BAAL worship which has been out there from long before any of our recorded history.  It may well be responsible for the suppression of our recorded history as such would have stopped secret worship in its tracks.

BAAL worship was one ancient thread followed  all over in some form.  The other thread was subsumed by the Christian community under the Romans.  Thus the idea of communal worship had a binary expression always.  Maybe we all need to just accept that.

The present expression of BAAL worship has seen the natural pedophile conspiracy subsumed into BAAL worship.  It was always likely there, but it has become deeply entrenched as humanity has risen.

The Club of Rome lost me from the get go over their malthusian ruminations and let us leave it at that.  It is intellectually ridiculous but obviously dangerous to this day.

Underground magma triggered Earths worst mass extinction with greenhouse gases "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

This is a wonderful reminder of just how little we really know about geological processes but also just how a simple insight turns past thinking on its head.

understand that i actually suspect that the newly created mountains along the ring of fire  and the himalyas were thrown up abruptly 12900 years ago only and that the entire continental shelf was above sea level before that.  Imagine geologists suddenly accepting that?

Now we see that massive basalt flows are not a particular problem at all and we should know that from Hawaii.  The problem is the injection of basalts into sediments and otherwise rocks able to roast off a lot of gas.  That also goes on for a long time.

This is certainly a much better understanding.  humanity will need to learn how to button up if such a process begins and to also protect animal life.  If we are really lucky, we  can use wormholes to recover populations forward in time as we may well be able to do with recent extinctions.

Mobile phone data shows that post-pandemic cities like San Francisco, Chicago and Boston are MUCH less busy where did the people go? "IndyWatch Feed War"

Ethan Huff Natural News April 28, 2023

The downtowns of many American cities have become ghost towns, thanks to the Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19).

A new analysis shows that downtown activity in places like San Francisco, Chicago, and Boston has plummeted ever since the scamdemic this according to mobile phone data.

According to data collected by the University of Toronto School of Cities, as of the fall of 2022, many major downtown population centers are much less busy than they were prior to covid.

Los Angeles, for instance, gained back only two-thirds of its former life, as measured by cell phone activity and this is one of the better comebacks. Other downtowns like Chicago, Vancouver in British Columbia, Seattle, and San Francisco have barely recovered half of their pre-pandemic activity.

The lull also affects boomtowns of form years like Denver, Atlanta and Houston, Statista reported.

(Related: Some estimates suggest that as many as one billion people died as a result of covid and the vaccines.)

Are American cities dying because PEOPLE are dying, or is everyone just staying home these days?

It all started, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, with workers who continued to work from home long after the lockdowns ended. The lockdowns, it turns out, resulted in an entirely new stay-at-home work paradigm for many that will continue into the future.

The trend towards working remotely only partially explains the downfall of American cities and especially their downtowns, though. How does a city like Seattle lose half of its activity in a matter of three years?

We know that many people fled left-wing cities like Seattle and San Francisco after the George Floyd riots tore them to pieces, leaving behind devastation in the form of empty buildings, tent cities, and a growing homeless population.

But what about Atlanta and Houston? These two boomtowns lost an incredible amount of downtown activity as well, despite an influx of newcomers who fled there from other states during or after the plandemic.

Then we have failing cities like Portland, which was overtaken by tent cities, homelessness, and crime like never before after George Floyd and covid. Portland recovered just 37 percent of its pre-pandemic downtown activity, which partially explains why Walmart, Cracker Barrel, and REI, among other businesses, are leaving in droves.

The worst city of all in the analy...

Cardinal Paul Cullen Dons, Popes, Brits and Fenians "IndyWatch Feed Politics.eu"

Cardinal Paul Cullen was a colossus who towered above Victorian Ireland. So why, today, is he so unfamiliar and so unloved? Some historians say he was the most significant Irishman between OConnell and Parnell; but many others do not. Cullens detractors seize upon four touchstone areas dons, popes, Brits and Fenians. Lazy judgements often follow.

From the outset, it is important to recognise Cullens extraordinary ascent. The son of a strong farmer from County Kildare, his piety and precocious academic ability set him apart. At 17, he left Ireland to begin his undergraduate studies at the Pontifical Urban College in Rome. The young scholar quickly mastered Italian, the networking language of the Holy See. He also became fluent in Latin, Hebrew and Greek, revelling in Divinity and Church Tradition. At the age of 25, Cullen was invited to participate in a high-profile theological disputation (tournament) presided over by Pope Leo XII and attended by no less than ten cardinals. He stole the show. The Holy Father subsequently conferred on him the doctors cap. Cullen succeeded to the Chairs of Hebrew and Sacred Scripture at Propaganda College.

During those three decades in Rome, Cullen never fully left Ireland. In 1832, he was elevated to the position of Rector of the Irish College, a coveted headship he held until 1850. The Irish seminarians who trained there would become Cullens future conservative cadres in dioceses across Ireland. Cullen wanted to use his growing influence over successive reactionary popes to begin his assault, from the Eternal City, upon Gallicanism within the Irish Church. The man from Narraghmore parish had identified the enemy within the Castle bishops who were consorting with the Protestant Ascendancy class and the OConnellite bishops who were cavorting with populist Irish nationalists.

Cullen was appointed Archbishop of Armagh in 1849 and returned to Ireland the following year. Ireland had been utterly devastated by An Gorta Mr. One million had died from starvation and disease and a further million fled. The Reverend Doctor had not been unmoved by the famine and had organised relief efforts from Rome, but his priorities lay elsewhere. Cullen convened a synod in Thurles, the first in Ireland since the Reformation, to accelerate the Romanisation of the Irish Church. He demanded uniformity and discipline. The famine had wiped out much of the cottier class, but the strong Catholic farmers and bourgeoisie were now ready to challenge for power. Cullen, like many of the Irish priests, came from that stratum. Their day was coming.

Paul Cullens long stint in Rome profoundly moulded him. It began with the ongoing papal reaction against revolutionary France and ended with the upheaval of the short-lived Roman Republic. Cullen shared Romes detestation of republicanism. In 1849, Italian Republicans had tried to bring freedom of religion and free elections to the Papal States. Pop...

States Push Back against Big Pharma Plan to Taint Food Supply with Vaccines "IndyWatch Feed War"

Frank Bergman SLAY.com April 28, 2023

Several states are pushing back against plans to taint the U.S. food supply with mRNA vaccines.

As Slay News has been reporting, large pharmaceutical companies are lobbying to have their mRNA jabs used on animals intended for meat to be consumed by the American public.

However, the plans for Big Pharma shots to taint the food supply have caused such a backlash that several states are now scrambling to introduce legislation to stop it.

At least five states are proposing legislation to ban it or at least require mandatory labeling so consumers know what they are purchasing and eating.

Missouri was the first to respond with the introduction of House Bill 1169.

Similar bills were subsequently filed in North Dakota, Tennessee, Arizona, and Idaho.

In Idaho, House Bill 154 would make it a misdemeanor offense for anyone to provide or administer a vaccine containing mRNA technology for use in an individual or any other mammal in this state.

In other words, if House Bill 154 is passed and signed into law, mRNA-tainted meat would become illegal in Idaho.

Meanwhile, Arizonas House Bill 2762 would require conspicuous labeling of all aquatic, livestock, or poultry products derived from animals given mRNA shots.

HB 2762 would also prohibit any mRNA-tainted food product from being labeled as organic.

Tennessees House Bill 0099 seeks to amend an existing law to prohibit the manufacture or sale of livestock or meat that contains mRNA vaccine or vaccine materials without a prominent label that consumers can clearly and easily read.

Legislators in North Dakota have also proposed Senate Bill 2384.

Like Idahos House Bill 154, North Dakotas legislation would make it illegal to use an mRNA vaccine in meat intended for humans.

It would also introduce a penalty for anyone who violates the law in this regard.

In Missouri, Republican state Rep. Holly Jones introduced HB 1169.

On War and Wars "IndyWatch Feed War"

When we see the few truth-tellers who are the stars of their organizations jettisoned Tucker Carlson from Fox News, Matt Taibbi from Rolling Stone, Glenn Greenwald from The Intercept, James OKeefe from Project Veritas we must face the fact that there is an organized conspiracy to suppress truth. Paul Craig Roberts

The weird part the news media isnt telling you about World War Three is that Americas main enemy in this struggle is the US Government itself! America is looking like that crazy person on the street, punching himself in the head. How else do you explain this epic act of national self-destruction?

The Joe Biden regime is standing up for our democracy by trying to silence all and any public speech about what it does in the world and how it treats its own citizens. Meanwhile, the entire scaffold of American life crumbles and you are supposed to not notice its happening. The funny part is that the Democratic Party thinks this is an election strategy. The funniest part of the funny part is that we bother holding elections at all.

You understand, Joe Biden is only pretending to run for president again, in the same way that he only pretended to be president the past two years. Are we to believe, for instance, that the old zombie has become a fervent Maoist? Or that he follows any known structured political philosophy at all, other than cashing checks that favor-seekers from all nations send his way? Joe Biden is pretending to run no matter how preposterous it seems because his handlers know that only a titanic pretense of political strength can stave off the reveal of his familys awesome criminality and the fall of everyone hitched to that wagon.

So much for the funny stuff. Things are getting to the point where we stop laughing. Its only a question now of how the calamity rolls out. There are so many more parts to it and they are all out-of-hand in the most disastrous way. The Ukraine project is a big part. It was prodigiously stupid to provoke a war there and the side we backed, the Nazi-ish Zelensky regime, has already lost. You just dont know it because the American news business is a joke on the American public. It reports nothing honestly.

Ukraine is the last in a string of hapless military adventures that has exhausted Americas credibility in the world, especially as regards our military superiority. (Think: Russias Kinzhal hypersonic missile.) There will be many unexpected consequences of that failure. One will be the crack-up of NATO, which has only been a false front for American military power. Germany couldnt fight its way out of a duffle bag with what its got, and it is supposedly Europes leading economic power. The sad truth is that it will stop being any kind of power without the cheap Russian Natgas it was running on,....

Jewish College Fraternities Recruit Illuminati Insiders "IndyWatch Feed War"

(Above, the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternitys coat of arms consists of many occult references.)

Although students join fraternities like Alpha Epsilon Pi with the vague sense they are networking, they dont know  they are joining a Luciferian (i.e. subversive) organization.

by Henry Makow Ph.D from March 14, 2012

What do Facebooks Mark Zuckerberg, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and CNNs Wolf Blitzer have in common?  How about Chicago Tribune owner Sam Zell, and pop singers Simon and Garfunkle?

At university, they were all members of the Jewish college fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi.   It has 10,000 members in 155 chapters in the US, Canada, the UK and Israel. Apparently some non-Jews who espouse its purpose and values are admitted.

Affiliated with the Bnai Brith,  this fraternity is one way Jews get recruited by Freemasonry and get a shot at the inside track in the New World Order.

At some campuses, 50% of Jewish students join Jewish fraternities and make up that proportion of fraternities in general.

Although most students join with the vague sense they are networking, they have no idea they are joining a Luciferian organization secretly dedicated to enslaving mankind spiritually and physically according to the plan set out in The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.  They are gulled by the empty talk of a campus brotherhood and serving the Jewish community.

But the coat of arms of the fraternity is a clue to its real occult (i.e. satanic) designs.

At my request, Texe Marrs has kindly deciphered the emblem.

Sudanese Face Shocking Delays, No Aid at Egypt Border

After perilous journey to the border, people escaping war wait for days without any humanitarian assistance before crossing into Egypt.

By Arwa Ibrahim

28 Apr 2023

Long lines of 50-person buses queue in Argeen, one of two main crossings along the Egyptian-Sudanese border, as they carry thousands of people escaping fighting in Sudans capital, Khartoum, to neighbouring countries.

Mounds of luggage pile up next to crowds of hungry and exhausted people, including children, chronically ill people, and elderly men and women. They wait in the scorching April heat without food, water, sanitary toilets or access to basic healthcare before crossing into Egypt.

Many of those waiting have been traumatised by heavy artillery and air strikes that hit their homes or struck nearby after battles broke out between the Sudanese army and the powerful paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on April 15.

The fighting has killed at least 460 people, injured more than 4,000 and shut down 60 percent of the capital citys hospitals, according to World Health Organization (WHO) estimates.

Those who cannot afford the extortionate costs of the journey to the borders of neighbouring countries or are unwilling to face the uncertainty it brings remain trapped in Khartoum and other cities where food, water and fuel are scarce.

Those who left have told Al Jazeera that instead of finding respite at the borders, they are met with long delays to get their visas processed and a lack of international aid.

The situation is simply shocking, and my main concern is that its getting worse by the day, says Yousra Abdelmoneim, a 27-year-old Sudanese-Egyptian accountant who crossed into Egypt after a three-day journey from Khartoum.

There are no basic services or healthcare, no international aid organisations, and no access to free food or water, she says.

Sudan Peace Groups Deploy Combatants to Protect Civilians in North Darfur

Peace signatory groups patrol to protect civilians in El Fasher of North Darfur on April 27, 2023

April 27, 2023 (EL-GENEINA) Five armed movements, signatory of the Juba peace agreement, on Thursday, deployed hundreds of fighters on four-wheel drive vehicles to secure the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.

The deployment aims at protecting civilians from militia attacks, as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continued their attacks on the city of El Geneina in West Darfur.

Observers fear that the ongoing conflict between the army and the RSF paramilitary group, made up of the Arab tribes of Darfur, may lead to the involvement of Darfur armed groups in the ongoing conflict in the country.

Ahmed Hussein Mustafa, the spokesman for the Sudan Liberation Movement- Minni Minnawi told Sudan Tribune that a joint force comprising 5 armed movements with 120 military vehicles has been formed to secure the headquarters of government institutions, international organizations, and all areas west of El Fasher.

The force aims to maintain security and stability, spread reassurance among civilians, combat negative phenomena, and resolve unruly groups that have appeared in the past days, active in looting, theft, and assaulting civilians and their property, Mustafa said.

During the past few days, El-Fasher witnessed bloody clashes between the army and RSF fighters in different parts of the city, killing 61 civilians.

Mediation by the governor of North Darfur, Nimir Abdel Rahman, and traditional leaders succeeded to establish a permanent cease-fire.

However, armed Arab groups appeared on motorcycles and four-wheel drive vehicles in the citys neighbourhoods after the fighting stopped. They carried out widespread looting and assaulting civilians in El Fasher. Also, they attacked Shala prison, releasing all inmates.

The SLM-MM spokesman stressed that the armed movements have taken a neutral position since the outbreak of the war and are seeking to mediate between the warring groups...

Juvenile Justice in Texas: Done in our name "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

All the goddamned warnings for child abuse bordering on state sponsored terrorism, but if youre in a place where you can read this, go ahead and give it a try.

So, Texas takes 11 year old Joshua Beasley Jr. from his family because its in his best interests to be housed in a so-called Texas Juvenile Justice Division institution.

But he doesnt actually get better in an institutional setting. It seems certain aspects of the experience did not tend to mitigate his mental illness. Blake Crenshaw, an older kid in his mid-to-late teens, got to know Joshua when the two ended up in the same facility not long after Joshuas 13th birthday. Crenshaw described their environment this way:

[The staff] are constantly beating you down, beating you down, telling you youre nothing. Youre nothing but a criminal. Youre never going to get out of there, Crenshaw said. And with someone like Joshua, hes so young. He doesnt have the maturity level to process everything thats going on in his head. All hes thinking is, Mad, mad, mad, mad, mad!

Such bullying was common, and Joshua wasnt the only one to react badly to it:

Crenshaw said the youths in the facility often acted out because of the way they were treated by staff.

One might think that if that strategy isnt working for the kids, since the ENTIRE JUSTIFICATION of taking Joshua and others away is that it was in his or their best interest, Texas officials responsible for the care of these children would look at how they were responding and, if they werent getting better, try something different. As for Joshua, Crenshaw knew what to try:

He said the trick was to speak to Joshua gently rather than yelling at him. He would tell Joshua to think about his little brother and to focus on staying calm so that he could go home.

But the TJJD had a different idea. They decided to prosecute Joshua as an adult for one of the times he fought back against the guards.

Crenshaw said that the taunting [by staff] would often lead Joshua to react by mouthing off, spitting or throwing an object.

[Staff] would give him like two warnings. Then theyd just be through with him. Multiple staff would take him, slam him on the ground, pepper spray him, handcuff him, shackle him and they would take him to the security pod.

Its hard to believe that that strategy didnt work to improve Joshuas mental health, social skills, a...

Trilateral Panel, Quad Call for Permanent Ceasefire in Sudan

April 28, 2023 (KHARTOUM) The Trilateral Mechanism and Quad countries welcomed the Juba meeting between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and called for a permanent ceasefire to pave the way for the resumption of political talks.

On Friday, representatives of the Sudan Armed Forces and the RSF met in Juba to discuss ways to de-escalate the ongoing fighting in Khartoum, which broke out on April 15.

The Quad countries, including the United States, Saudi Arabia, Britain, and the UAE, and the Trilateral Mechanism, comprised of the African Union (AU), Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), issued a joint statement on Thursday welcoming the Juba meeting.

The joint statement underscored that the purpose of the Juba meeting is to achieve a permanent ceasefire in the country in line with the peace plan agreed upon in an international and regional virtual meeting held on April 20, chaired by the head of the African Union.

The Quad and the Trilateral Facilitation Panel further called for the establishment of humanitarian corridors and unhindered humanitarian access to civilians in Khartoum.

The April 20 communiqu called for the immediate resumption of the political process, through dialogue and negotiations, towards the establishment of an inclusive, democratic transitional civilian-led government.

The virtual meeting was chaired by the President of Comoresn chair of the African Union with the participation of the UN General-Secretary, IGAD Executive Secretary, General Secretary of the League of Arab States, President of the European Commission, Sudans neighbouring countries, three African countries members of the UN Security Council, Norway, UNSC Permanent five members and three Gulf...

Heavy Clashes Rock Sudans Capital Despite Truce Extension

CAIRO (AP) Heavy explosions and gunfire rocked Sudans capital, Khartoum, and its twin city of Omdurman early Friday, residents said, despite the extension of a fragile truce between the countys two top generals whose power struggle has killed hundreds.

After two weeks of fighting that has turned Khartoum into a war zone and thrown Sudan into turmoil, a wide-ranging group of international mediators including African and Arab nations, the United Nations and the United States were intensifying their pressure on the rival generals to enter talks on resolving the crisis.

So far, however, they have managed to achieve only a series of fragile temporary cease-fires that failed to stop clashes but created enough of a lull for tens of thousands of Sudanese to flee to safer areas and for foreign nations to evacuate thousands of their citizens by land, air and sea.

In a sign of the persistent chaos, Turkey said one of its evacuation planes was hit by gunfire outside Khartoum with no casualties on Friday, hours after both sides accepted a 72-hour truce extension.

The U.K. said it would end its evacuation flights on Saturday evening, after numbers of British citizens seeking an airlift began to decline. After a slow start that attracted criticism, Britain has run regular military flights from an airfield near Khartoum to Cyprus. As of Friday evening, it had airlifted 1,573 people, including nationals of several European countries.

You have another 24 hours if you are eligible to make your way to the airport and we will get you on a plane, Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden said.

Extremists Kill 33 Soldiers in Latest Burkina Faso Attack

By ARSENE KABORE

OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso (AP) A large number of Islamic extremists launched an attack on Burkina Fasos military in the countrys east, killing 33 soldiers and wounding a dozen others, the army said Friday.

The assault took place Thursday in the Gourma province town of Ouagarou, according to an army statement.

During particularly intense combat, the soldiers of the detachment showed remarkable determination when faced with an enemy that came in very large numbers, the statement said, adding that 40 jihadis also were killed.

Fighters linked to al-Qaida and the Islamic State group have waged a violent insurgency in Burkina Faso for seven years. The violence has killed thousands of people and displaced around 2 million.

It also has divided a once peaceful nation and fueled frustration that led to two coups last year. The new junta leader, Capt. Ibrahim Traore, has promised to secure the country. But some civilians say they also fear Burkina Fasos security forces, which they accuse of extrajudicial killings and the disappearance of untold numbers of others accused of supporting the militants.

Meanwhile, attacks are intensifying and spreading as jihadis blockade villages, preventing hundreds of thousands of people from moving freely.

Earlier this month, gunmen killed at least 40 members of Burkina Fasos security forces in the northern part of the country, and dozens of others were wounded.

Local residents have accused the security forces of brutally killing civilians in the north. The United Nations has called for a thorough and independent investigation into what it called the horrific killing of civilians.

Zimbabwe Plans to Launch Digital Currency Backed by Gold

(AP Photo/Tsvangirayi Mukwazhi, File)

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) Zimbabwe will launch a digital currency next month by introducing tokens that are backed by gold reserves and can be transferred between people and businesses as a form of payment, the countrys central bank said Friday.

The move is aimed at shoring up Zimbabwes faltering national currency, the Zimbabwe dollar, which is fast depreciating amid yearslong economic woes in the southern African nation.

The Bahamas, Jamaica and Nigeria have already launched digital currencies backed by their central banks, with several other countries, including China, running trial projects. The United Kingdom is moving closer to it by asking for public input on the idea. The U.S. and European Union are considering similar moves.

In Zimbabwe, the new tokens will be fully backed by physical gold held by the bank and will go into circulation on May 8, Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Gov. John Mangudya said. People can buy the tokens and use them as a way to save their money or conduct person-to-person and person-to-business transactions and settlements, Mangudya said.

People will be able to buy the tokens through banks and make transactions using e-gold wallets or e-gold cards held by banks, he said.

Trust in Zimbabwes currency is desperately low after people in 2008 had their savings wiped out by hyperinflation, which reached 5 billion percent, according to the International Monetary Fund, nearly a world record.

The hyperinflation resulted in the country at one point issuing a 100 trillion Zimbabwe dollars banknote before the government was forced to temporarily scrap its currenc...

SAYREVILLE, N.J. (AP) Nicole Teliano used to play games on her phone in the mayors office while her mother worked down the hall several evenings a month, tending to the tedious, often acrimonious task of serving in local government.

The 11-year-old girl didnt mind sharing her mother, Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour, with the nearly 50,000 residents of the central New Jersey town, the young people she nurtured as a pastor of a prosperity gospel church in Newark or the Nigerian church colleague she married in a festive ceremony in Abuja in November.

Well, my mom was a little bit of extra, so I could share a little bit. There was enough to go around, Nicole said in a family interview with The Associated Press this month.

Now, friends and loved ones are asking for help figuring out who gunned down the charismatic 30-year-old Dwumfour outside her Sayreville home on Feb. 1. The case is reverberating from New Jersey to West Africa, with touchpoints including politics, religion and money that echo across continents.

Authorities arent saying much. Dwumfours parents and new husband Peter Ezechukwu, who hoped to join his wife in the United States this spring but instead came for her funeral, are frustrated by the ongoing silence. The Middlesex County Prosecutors Office said it recognizes their concerns but needs to protect the integrity of the investigation.

Eunice was too good of a person to let (her death) go unanswered, Mayor Victoria Kilpatrick said at a Feb. 8 memorial service, where hundreds mourned the stylish preacher known as Pastor Eunney_K.

Gunmen Kill 15 People, Abduct 5 Aid Workers in North Nigeria

By CHINEDU ASADU and HARUNA UMAR

ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) Gunmen killed 15 villagers and abducted five aid workers in separate attacks in Nigerias troubled northern region, authorities said Thursday.

The assailants arrived in Benue states Apa area and opened fire on villagers in their homes, according to David Olofu, a senior state government official. He said military personnel were among those shot in the attack and many houses were razed as villagers fled to safety.

The incident in Benue is the latest in a spiral of violent attacks in which armed groups are targeting remote communities across Nigerias northwest and central regions, often defying government and security measures.

More than 80 people have been killed in Benue in the past month in such attacks. No group has claimed responsibility for the killings, though authorities have blamed Fulani herdsmen, a group of mostly young pastoralists from the Fulani tribe caught up in Nigerias conflict between host communities and herdsmen over limited access to water and land.

In northeastern Nigeria, meanwhile, Islamic extremists abducted five aid workers in Ngala, Borno state, where an insurgency against the government has raged on for more than a decade.

The aid workers included three staff members and two contractors of the international non-government organization FHI 360, all working to provide lifesaving medical care to the people of Nigeria, the organization said Thursday, without further details on the incident.

FHI 360 condemned the abduction of the workers and called for their unconditional, immediate and safe return, according to a statement from Iorwakwagh Apera, the NGOs director in Nigeria. Our priority at this time is to support our team and their families, said Apera.

Bash Back! Is Back : Reviving an Insurrectionary Queer Network: An Interview "IndyWatch Feed War"

In 2007, in the course of preparations for actions against the 2008 Republican National Convention, an insurrectionary network of queer anarchists formed under the umbrella Bash Back! Over the following three years, this network participated in a vibrant array of confrontations, organizing efforts, and publications, expanding and intensifying the struggle against sex and gender normativity. Today, as fascists and other bigots renew their assault on queer and trans people and anarchists fight back, there is an urgent need for renewed coordination and innovation. In this context, participants in the original Bash Back! network have called for a new Bash Back! convergence in September 2023.

As they put it,

The intervening years have been marked by intensificationof crisis, alienation, loss, and struggle. The right wing no longer hides behind euphemisms: they want to exterminate trans and queer people. The left offers only false solutions: vote, donate, assimilate. A decade of representation, symbolic legal victories, social media activism, and mass-market saturation has left us worse off by all metrics. Our fair-weather friends wont save us from the consequences of their strategy of empty visibility. The inescapable conclusion is that we must come together to protect ourselves.

History confirms the queer legacy of building connection in a world that hates us, the legacy of riotous joythe legacy of bashing back. The attacks will continue on our nightclubs, forests, story hours, and siblings. To hold on, we need spacesunderground if necessaryto re-encounter each other, spaces to remember, build, share, and conspire.

To explore the legacy of Bash Back! and what it has to offer today, we conducted the following interview with previous participants in Bash Back! who are helping to organize the upcoming convergence.

By Marc Eliot Stein, World BEYOND War, April 28, 2023

Episode 47 of the World BEYOND War podcast is an interview with Joseph Essertier, professor at the Nagoya Institute of Technology and chapter coordinator of World BEYOND War Japan. Our conversation was prompted by a distressing global development: prompted by the United States in its rising hostility to China, Japan is rapidly remilitarizing for the first time since the unspeakable decades of tragedy that reached a ghastly conclusion in August 1945.

The world recognizes the obscenity of USA and Japans wealthy governments marching, sailing and flying arm-in-arm towards the third world war. But there has been far too little visible popular resistance to Japans remilitarization inside either USA or Japan. This was the starting point for my interview with Joseph Essertier, who has lived and taught in Japan for over 30 years.

Ive known Joe as part of World BEYOND War for many years, but never before had a chance to ask him about his background, and some of this interview involves us discovering how much we had in common. We both read Noam Chomsky in college, and were both visited by Ralph Nader at our separate PIRGs (Public Interest Research Groups, CALPIRG in California for Joseph and NYPIRG in New York for me). We also discovered a common interest in books and classic literature, and during this podcast interview we talk about a few great Japanese writers: Shimazaki Toson, Natsume Soseki, Yukio Mishima and Kazuo Ishiguro (who was born in Japan but has lived and written in England).

Kiev sends media correct terminology instructions "IndyWatch Feed War"

RT | April 28, 2023

A list of correct phrases, narratives and names emailed to media outlets in Serbia is genuine and came at the instruction of the foreign ministry in Kiev, Ukraines embassy in Belgrade confirmed on Friday.

Its a recommendation we sent out to the media so that they would use correct terminology in their reporting regarding the war in Ukraine, the embassy told the daily Novosti. According to RT Balkans, the email was sent to all print and electronic media in Serbia on Thursday.

According to the instructions, reporters should use Russias war of aggression against Ukraine instead of calling it a crisis, conflict, war, or even Russian war in Ukraine. Another guideline insists that unprovoked full-scale military invasion should be used instead of special military operation.

The Pentagon and multiple US and UK outlets already use this terminology, but it is unclear whether they adopted it on recommendations from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, or if it was the other way around.

The email comes after the US and the EU demanded Belgrade censor and ban Russian outlets such as RT Balkans and Sputnik, and crack down on Russian narratives about Ukraine. While some Western-owned media in Serbia already use Kievs preferred phrasing, some outlets were offended by the embassys efforts to censor their reporting.

Who are they to recommend to anyone how to work, or write? Filip Rodic, the deputy head editor at Pecat magazine, told Novosti. If they think they can censor the entire world, thats total insanity.

There was no explanation why the document sent to Serbian media was entirely in English, either. Some of the politically proscribed phrases in it  the Ukraine, for example are already meaningless in Serbian, whose grammar has no articles. It is also a phonetic language that doesnt spell, which makes the insistence on using Ukrainian spellings for place names Horlivka and not Gorlovka, Kharkiv and not Kharkov, Mykolaiv and not Nikolaev, etc. likewise not applicable.

In places, the document appears to confuse official narratives for recommended phrasing, demanding the use of Ukraines legitimate efforts to de-occupy Crimea, which is a part of Ukraines sovereign territory within the internationally recognized borders, in place of Ukraines attacks on Crimea, for example.

The government in Kiev has insisted for years on using its preferred phrases and place names, such as imposing Kyiv on English speakers. One prominent Ukrainian activist explained last month that language plays a critical role in the hybrid war, because it...

Its Not the Heat, Its the Humidity: The Dark Side of Urban Greenery "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

I talk a lot about why we should cover our cities with plants. Theyre good for our health in a number of ways, and through transpiration, they tend to cool off their surroundings. Urban heat islands are a big problem that is getting bigger as the planet warms, and plants are regularly proposed as at least a partial solution. I continue to believe that we should have as much urban greenery as possible, but some recent research has touched on a concern Ive had for a while now.

As I said the other day, we urgently need to be rebuilding our society to deal with a coming heat that can no longer be avoided. That means that we need to account, as best were able, for conditions unlike anything our species has ever encountered. I want us to actually be proactive about this. We should be moving cities away from low-lying coastal areas, or rebuilding them to withstand rising seas. We should be moving our agriculture indoors, to the greatest degree possible, to protect food production from the heat and instability of this brave new world.

And, since we know that the temperature will keep rising, we should be planning for extreme heat waves, even if we do manage to literally green our cities. That means accounting for the fact that the transpiration that works so well to lower the temperature also works to increase humidity. Even if all the plant life lowers a citys temperature by ten degrees, that wont make it safe outside if the humidity creates wet-bulb conditions, in which we lose our ability to cool ourselves by sweating. The one advantage that cities have in this regard is that they tend to be drier than their surroundings, and bringing in more plants could make the heat deadly at lower temperatures:

A new study, led by Yale School of the Environment scientists and...

Israel lobby piles pressure on Twitter, Facebook to ban Press TV "IndyWatch Feed War"

Press TV April 27, 2023

Social media groups Facebook and Twitter have come under pressure from pro-Israel lobby groups to remove accounts of Irans leading broadcaster Press TV from their platforms.

The Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCHD) and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) have demanded that Press TV be blocked for publishing content in Britain, The Telegraph reported Thursday.

ADL chief executive Jonathan Greenblatt said it was inexcusable to offer Press TV a platform.

We urge Meta [the owner of Facebook] and Twitter to immediately launch an investigation and to take action to prevent Press TV and the Iranian other media outlets from misusing these social platforms.

Facebook and Twitter profit by providing Iranian state propagandists with the reach and amplification they need to evade domestic broadcast bans, and influence millions of new viewers in the West, Imran Ahmed, chief executive of the CCHD, said.

Their concern is particularly focused around Press TVs Palestine Declassified program, formerly hosted by former UK MP Chris Williamson and former Bristol University professor David Miller.

Williamson was suspended from the Labour Party after dismissing concerns about anti-Semitism in the party as smears and bulls. And Miller was dismissed from Bristol University after he revealed Jewish students critical of his views were directed by Israel.

The groups cite an episode of the Press TV program devoted to unpacking the witch hunt in Labour and the way the party was captured by key Israel lobby groups.

Another episode dealt with a network of Zionist individuals and organizations which exerted a disproportionate influence over global affairs, including the Wests intervention in the Ukraine war and a campaign to improve King Charles IIIs image in the UK Muslim community.

The groups are rattled by videos on Press TVs program that exposes Jewish influence over global affairs and the entertainment industry.

In July 2013, Press TV was forced off the air in the UK after the media regulator Ofcom revoked its license for allegedly breaching the Communications Act.

In the same year, it was taken off the air in North America after the US Treasury Department announced sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

Press TV was dropped from the Galaxy 19 satellite platform that allowed it to broadcast in the United States and Canada, without saying when it was dropped.

The network has denounced the measures as media terrorism.

The broadcaster has a large number of viewers across Western countries and a considerable number of followers on social media.

Yesterday two US military Apache helicopters crashed in Alaska during a training session. Another Apache also crashed in Alaska in February. In March two Blackhawk military copters collided near Ft. Campbell, KY killing 9 soldiers. Why are these military helicopter mishaps occurring during training sessions? These are hardly missions in a war zone much less in war games.

Microplastics 101: Everything You Need to Know "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

Quick Key Facts

  1. Plastic use has quadrupled over the last 30 years, and 380 million metric tons are now produced annually.
  2. Microplastics are small plastic fragments 5 mm or less in diameter, and are either created for products at this size or are the result of plastic degradation in the environment.
  3. Microplastics are found virtually everywhere on Earth, from the deepest parts of the ocean to the highest mountains, in the air we breathe and in the water we drink.
  4. Oceans are an area of particular concern regarding microplastics, as plastics degrade there more readily, and marine wildlife often mistake plastics for food.
  5. Heavy metals and environmental contaminants can stick to microplastics, which bioaccumulate in the tissues of animals that ingest them.
  6. Bottled water, seafood, dust, and even fruits and vegetables contain microplastics. Humans ingest roughly 50,000-120,000 pieces of plastic every year.
  7. Microplastics have been found in human blood, lungs, kidneys and placentas, where they can cause adverse health effects.
  8. New technologies are seeking to remove microplastics from environments using nanocoils and magnetic liquid.

We use a lot of plastic

Since the 1950s, more than 8.3 billion tons of plastic has been produced by humans. All in all, only 9% of these plastics have actually been recycled, and the rest has either been incinerated or landed up in landfills and, in many cases, in the natural environment, especially waterways and oceans. At our current rate of plastic production and disposal, our oceans are on track to contain more plastic than fish as soon as 2050.

Consider single-use plastic water bottles, for instance. One million of these plastic bottles are purchased every minute. So, what happens to all of this plastic? When we fail to dispose of it safely and it ends in natural environments, how do they change? Do they ever truly decompose?

Exams and Fish Tacos and John Wick "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

I have just posted the final midterm (its an online exam) of my genetics class. The semester is almost over!

I will still have to put together two finals for my two classes, but thats next week. I can shut off my brain for a little while.

Now also Im a free-spirited bachelor for a week, as my wife gets to go spend time with our granddaughter. I dont get to go, because theres still a week of classes left. Im going to drown my sorrows and celebrate the completion of this exam by walking downtown to the Mexican restaurant for fish tacos, and then Im strolling over to the theater to see John Wick 4. I like Keanu Reeves, but hes pushing my patience with this 2 hour and 49 minute movie. Good thing I got my work done.

Tomorrow Im going out again a student gave me a free ticket to the UM Morris Concert Choir and Vocal Jazz concert. Im going to strive mightily to make Mary regret leaving me for a week!
