Wieder was gelernt!

Macro Pad Cheap Enough To Give Away "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Supercon 2022 showed that hackers are starting to come together again in Maker Faires, conventions, and festivals. [Toby Chui] plans to be one of those hackers and wants something to give to fellow attendees. Thus, the $3 Macro Pad was born.

Weve seen our fair share of macro pads, so a simple four-key pad isnt exactly novel. However, the focus on size and cost makes it stand out. The pad is the size of a business card, making it easy to give away. For a microcontroller, [Toby] used a CH552G, which is cheap and compatible with the Arduino IDE. Although, with 10 GPIO, a matrix layout could have supported a full-sized number pad, the diodes required would have added to the cost significantly. A cheap PCB and 3d-printed base make up the devices bulk.

[Toby] provides a handy tool for assigning keys from your browser without coding. However, the source code is on GitHub if you want to develop a more complicated scheme. This isnt the...

Microsofts Azure Linux Distro is Now Generally Available "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Microsoft's Azure Linux distro is now generally available:

After using Azure Linux internally for two years and running it in public preview since October 2022, Microsoft this week finally made its distribution generally available.

Azure Linux is an open-source container host OS for the Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) that is optimized for Azure and aimed at making it easier for developers to use Microsoft's tools to deploy and manage container workloads. That's basically it: Azure Linux is designed to be deployed in the cloud and run multiple containers.

The Azure Linux distro stems from the IT giant's CBL-Mariner project, CBL standing for Common Base Linux. Microsoft started CBL-Mariner because it needed an internal Linux distro and a consistent platform for the myriad workloads engineers were running on Azure, according to Jim Perrin, principal program manager for Microsoft Azure Linux.

The Microsoft-customized open-source distribution "allows us to have a very defined, very opinionated Azure focus and to tune the components of the distribution to be exactly what we need to support a container host and try to keep the dependencies, extraneously packages, things like that to a minimum," Perrin said during a Q&A session at Build 2023, where Redmond announced Azure Linux's general availability.

The "very opinionated" part of that means Azure Linux's primary role is as a container host for AKS. It's optimized for Microsoft's Windows Hyper-V hypervisor and runs in a virtual machine (VM), supporting both x86 and Arm, he said.

As one Indian Ocean tuna stock faces collapse, nations scramble to save others "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

The organization responsible for managing tuna fishing quotas in the Indian Ocean failed to make headway on saving the sectors most imperiled species, yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares), at the bodys annual meeting this month. Members of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) did, however, take steps to prevent another tuna stock, bigeye tuna (T. obesus), from going the yellowfin way. The end value of tuna fisheries from the Indian Ocean is around $8 billion annually, according to an analysis by Washington, D.C.-based think tank The Pew Charitable Trusts. The gathering of IOTC parties, which include coastal states that border the Indian Ocean and distant-water fishing entities, most notably the European Union, was held in Mauritius from May 8-12. There was little progress on key issues surrounding yellowfin, like reducing annual catch for the overfished stock and limiting the use of harmful fish-aggregating devices (FADs) used by purse seine fishing vessels. Although the IOTC declared yellowfin tuna overfished in 2015, to date, the intergovernmental regional management body has failed to curb overfishing, particularly the capture of juveniles. The Indian Ocean yellowfin population could be headed for collapse as early as 2026, conservation group Planet Tracker says. When it comes to yellowfin tuna, we are eating our capital, Umair Shahid, WWFs Indian Ocean tuna specialist, said in a statement. Unless we take action now to radically reduce annual catch, there wont be enough stock left to harvest in less than 10 years. Yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) caught by fishermen in Seychelles. Tres metros cuadrados "IndyWatch Feed Noramerica"

Tampoco all haba acceso a actividades recreativas y educativas.

Free Trade as Revealed in the China-United States Paradigm "IndyWatch Feed War"

Free trade is much ballyhooed by the US and the capitalist world, but critics have been skeptical as to whether such trade freely takes place.

Investopedia provides a useful definition of free trade:

A free trade agreement is a pact between two or more nations to reduce barriers to imports and exports among them. Under a free trade policy, goods and services can be bought and sold across international borders with little or no government tariffs, quotas, subsidies, or prohibitions to inhibit their exchange.

The concept of free trade is the opposite of trade protectionism or economic isolationism.

In the eyes of the US, China is threateningly making major headway in 6G, AI, robotics, supercomputing among other technology fields. This has scared the Biden administration, so Biden has sought to cut off Chinese access to semiconductor chips below 14 nanometers. Foreign Policy called it going for Chinas jugular after one term of ex-US president Donald Trump inflicting flesh wounds to China.

This is economic coercion and is unacceptable, said Chinas foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning of the US actions. China did not stand idly by; it banned the US memory chip Micron on security grounds.

China, correspondingly, has reduced its import of chips by $129.1 billion since 2022, harming US, Taiwanese, and Korean exporters and giving Shanghais SMIC a shot in the arm.

Billionaire investor Warren Buffett was so bearish on the worlds largest semiconductor company, TSMC, that he...

The Debt Ceiling Dance "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

There is not much to say.

Of course the republicans are shitheads, for trying to take the economy hostage in order to get more tax breaks for the rich, and shut down services for the poor. Someones gotta get tough on those poor folks!

What blows my mind is the attitude on some liberal hangouts, which is that we ought to be cheering for dark brandon as though hes some kind of badass and not some stammering old coot who needs to be surrounded by an army of handlers to keep him from walking into a wall, or falling down stairs. Over at Daily Kos, some are crowing about how the democrats stuck it to the republicans, by, uh, giving away things in a negotiation that didnt have to happen in the first place.

The meme above is prompted by the observation that, inevitably, the DOD budget went up. Remember, the DOD doesnt even know where and how its spending its money, it spends so much of it, but somehow it knows it always needs more. The whole premise of the debt ceiling dance is that something something has to do with making it harder to increase the national debt the one thing congress has demonstrated bipartisan skills at doing. None of those lying assholes in Washington are willing to confront the fact that if youre having problems with your spending, you need to look at the biggest items first, and not fuck around down in the weeds worrying about making a 5% change to .01% of your overall budget. Theyre lying bastards because they all even the more progressive stars pretend that this is not the case. My view of the situation is remarkably similar to my view of the police: there are no bad apples because its all bad apples, since everyone who works there is either corrupt or cooperates and says nothing with someone that they know is corrupt.

So, for example, they expanded the work requirement for benefits. Thats not exactly the same as cutting benefits its more like making benefits inaccessible it makes the bones of my skull squeal from the pressure when I think of that its specifically aimed at people who labor off the books. Meanwhile, they cut back IRS staffing intended to examine corporate tax dodging. Isnt that all rather obvious?

The pundit class is busy pontificating about well, its a negotiation and that means you give a bit and get a bit what they really should be saying is you screw some people, we screw some people. If anyone was serious about spending theyd whack back the DOD, or more plausibly, lets do it...

Climate Carnage: Things Can Only Get Worse "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

Human Wrongs Watch

ROME, May 29 2023 (IPS)* Please stop repeating all this softened wording, such as climate change, climate-related hazards, climate crisis, or extreme weather events And just call it what it really is: climate carnage.

The UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction has now reported on the Staggering rise in climate emergencies in the last 20 years. Credit: Manipadma Jena/IPS

Indeed, several scientific findings, released ahead of the 2023 World Environment Day (5 June), staggeringly indicate that the world-spread climate carnage is predicted to hit all-time records.

See: global temperatures are set to break records during the next five years, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) on 17 May 2023 alerted.

Warmest year ever

There is a 98% likelihood that at least one of the next five years, and the five-year period, will be the warmest on record.

The world-leading meteorological body then informs that such a rise is fuelled by heat-trapping greenhouse gases and a naturally occurring El Nio weather pattern.

El Nio is a naturally occurring climate pattern associated with the warming of the ocean surface temperatures in the Central and Eastern tropical Pacific Ocean. It occurs on average every two to seven years, and episodes usually last nine to 12 months.

El Nio steers weather patterns around the world, WMO further explains, can aggravate extreme weather events, and its events are typically associated with increased rainfall in parts of southern South America, the Southern United States, the Horn of Africa and Central Asia.

This year is already predicted to be hotter than 2022 and the fifth or sixth hottes...

Last year generative artificial intelligence (AI) took the world by storm as advancements populated news and social media. Investors were swarming the space as many recognized its potential across industries. According to IDC, there is already a 26.9% increase in global AI spending compared to 2022. And this number is forecast to exceed $300 billion in 2026.

Its also caused a shift in how people view AI. Before, people thought of artificial intelligence as an academic, high-tech pursuit. It used to be that the most talked-about example of AI was autonomous vehicles. But even with all the buzz, it had yet to be a widely available and applied form of consumer-grade AI.

Ukraines prized drone fleet almost grounded "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

RT | May 29, 2023

Turkish Bayraktar UAVs were touted as wonder weapons, with officials in Kiev saying they would give them an advantage against Russia. One year later, however, only a few remaining units are being used far from the battlefield, and for reconnaissance rather than attack missions, a Pentagon-linked analyst has told Business Insider.

Ukraine purchased dozens of Bayraktar TB2 drones and used them to strike Donbass in violation of a ceasefire agreement at least once, even before the conflict with Russia began last February. Kiev also claims to have received an unspecified number of additional drones during the past year, despite Trkiyes official neutrality.

In the first months of the conflict, Kiev routinely claimed to have conducted successful strikes using TB2s, but by July, the Bayraktars became almost useless, and Kiev reserved them for rare special operations, Ukrainian pilots told Foreign Policy at the time.

Russian forces destroyed more than 100 Bayraktar drones in Ukraine, the deputy commander-in-chief of the Air Force, Lieutenant-General Andrey Demin, claimed in April.

As of now, the Ukrainian fleet of once-prized drones have almost entirely been shot down, Business Insider wrote on Sunday, citing an expert in unmanned and robotic military systems at the Center for Naval Analyses, Samuel Bendett.

As a relatively slow and low-flying UAV, it can become a target for a range of air defense systems that are well organized, Bendett said, adding that once the Russian military got its act together, it was able to down many TB2s.

The Bayraktar TB2 is a design of Turkish company Baykar Makina, which costs around $2 million per unit. Ankara has touted the drones since 2020, when they were said to have helped Azerbaijan prevail in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Turkish troops have also deployed them in Syria and Libya.

Responding to a prank caller last year, the head of the Association of Defense Enterprises of Ukraine admitted there was more PR and corruption in Bayraktar than combat use, and claimed they were all shot down within a week.

What a Giant Pile of Unsold Clothing in the Desert Can Teach Us about Real Resistance "IndyWatch Feed War"

Chiles Atacama Desert, the driest desert in the world, has been a dumping ground for fast fashion leftovers. A mountain of discarded clothing, including Christmas sweaters and ski boots, cuts a strange sight in the desert, which is increasingly suffering from pollution created by the fashion industry.

Some further explanation from another article:

Sadly, the desert is also a dumping ground for cheap, unsold clothing. Shein party dresses, H&M sweaters, and more are all heaped in growing mounds. The site contains an estimated 60,000 tons of clothes from Europe, Asia, and North America, the BBC reported. New Go-written GobRAT RAT targets Linux Routers in Japan "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

A new Golang remote access trojan (RAT), tracked as GobRAT, is targeting Linux routers in Japan, the JPCERT Coordination Center warns.

JPCERT/CC is warning of cyberattacks against Linux routers in Japan that have been infected with a new Golang remote access trojan (RAT) called GobRAT.

Threat actors are targeting Linux routers with publicly exposed WEBUI to execute malicious scripts to deploy the GobRAT malware.

Initially, the attacker targets a router whose WEBUI is open to the public, executes scripts possibly by using vulnerabilities, and finally infects the GobRAT. reads the alert published by the JPCERT Coordination Center (JPCERT/CC).

Loader Script acts as a loader, it supports multiple functions for downloading and deploying the GobRAT. The experts noticed an SSH public key, likely used as a backdoor, which is hard-coded in the script. The Loader Script maintains persistence via crontab because GobRAT does not support such a function.

The Loader Script includes multiple functions, such as disabling Firewall, downloading GobRAT for the target machines architecture, creating Start Script and making it persistent, creating and running the Daemon Script, and registering a SSH public key in /root/.ssh/authorized_keys.

The RAT communicates with C2 server via TLS and can execute various commands. The Japan CERT reported that the RAT is packed multiple architectures, including ARM, MIPS, x86, and x86-64.

Upon starting up, the GobRAT checks IP address and MAC address of itself, uptime by uptime command, network communication status by /proc/net/dev.

The malware supports 22 commands, the researchers have identified the following commands:

The complex story of Jessica Watkins "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

On Friday, US district judge Amit Mehta handed down two more sentences to Oath Keepers for their role in the January 6th, 2021 events, following the 18 month sentence given earlier to its leader Stewart Rhodes. One of those sentenced was army veteran Jessica Watkins, a transgender woman, who was given eight years and six months in prison.

The name Jessica Watkins was familiar to me because I had long been aware of Watkinss role in the events. Micah Loewinger, a reporter for On The Media, and Hampton Stall, the founder of MilitiaWatch, had been tracking the activities of the Oath Keepers and monitoring the walkie-talkie app Zello that was used for militia recruiting and organizing. They listened in as the riot was unfolding. As far back as in January 13, 2021, just a week after the riot, Loewinger and Stall reported how she figured prominently in the conversations of the mob that day, issuing instructions to others on what to do.

The Zello user who described breaking into the Capitol building appears to be Jessica Watkins, a 38-year-old bartender from Ohio, who admitted to participating in the insurrection. Watkins told the Ohio Capital Journal she was the leader of a local militia called the Ohio State Regular and a member of the national Oath Keepers militia.

We have a good group: 30 to 40 of us. Were sticking together and sticking to the plan, the female voice is heard saying on Zello as they were walking toward the Capitol. The police are doing nothing. Theyre not even trying to stop us.

The Ohio Capital Journal also identified Watkins as one of a line of Oath Keepers pushing their way through the crowd on the steps of the Capitol toward the east entrance of the building. She can be seen toward the back of the line in livestream footage taken at the deadly event wearing battle rattle. Moments later a stream of pro-Trump insurrectionists poured inside.

Now of course she faces the consequences of her actions. The judge expressed some mystification as to why she had done such a thing.

Watkins and Harrelson marched toward the Capitol with other Oath Keepers members in stack formations as a mob of Trump supporters clashed with outnumbered police officers. Harrelson was the groups ground team lead on Jan. 6. Watkins, who formed a separate Ohio-based militia group, recruited others to join the Oath Keepers in Washington that day.

Mehta said that while Watkins was not a top leader, like Rhodes, she was more t...

Researchers analyzed the PREDATOR spyware and its loader Alien "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

Cisco Talos and the Citizen Lab researchers have published a technical analysis of the powerful Android spyware Predator.

Security researchers at Cisco Talos and the Citizen Lab have shared technical details about a commercial Android spyware named Predator that is sold by the surveillance firm Intellexa (formerly known as Cytrox).

The researchers focused their analysis on two components of the mobile spyware implant, respectively tracked as ALIEN and PREDATOR.

PREDATOR is an interesting piece of mercenary spyware that has been around since at least 2019, designed to be flexible so that new Python-based modules can be delivered without the need for repeated exploitation, thus making it especially versatile and dangerous. reads the post published by Cisco Talos. New analysis from Talos uncovered the inner workings of PREDATOR and the mechanisms it uses to communicate with the other spyware component deployed along with it known as ALIEN. Both components work together to bypass traditional security features on the Android operating system. Our findings reveal the extent of the interweaving of capabilities between PREDATOR and ALIEN, providing proof that ALIEN is much more than just a loader for PREDATOR as previously thought to be.

In May 2022, Googles Threat Analysis Group (TAG) researchers discovered three campaigns, between August and October 2021, targeting Android users with five zero-day vulnerabilities.

The attacks aimed at installing the surveillance spyware Predator, developed by the North Macedonian firm Cytrox.

According to Google, the exploits were included in Cytroxs commercial surveillance spyware that is sold to different nation-state actors, including Egypt, Armenia, Greece, Madagascar, Cte dIvoire, Serbia, Spain, and Indonesia.

In December 2021 a report published by CitizenLab researchers detailed the use of the Predator Spyware against exiled politician Ayman Nour and the host of a popular news program.

The surveillance software supports common spyware capabilities, such as recording phone calls, spying on messaging apps, and data harvesting on infected Android devices.

Currently, the Predator spyware is developed and sold by Israeli company Intellexa, it can target both iOS and Android devices. The surveillance suite offered by Intellexa has multiple components that Talos grouped into three...

TSMC: We Have Working CFET Transistors in the Lab, but They Are Generations Away "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

TSMC: We Have Working CFET Transistors in the Lab, But They Are Generations Away:

Offering an update on its work with complementary field-effect transistors (CFETs) as part of the company's European Technology Symposium 2023, TSMC has revealed that it has working CFETs within its labs. But even with the progress TSMC has made so far, the technology is still in its early days, generations away from mass production. In the meantime, ahead of CFETs will come gate-all-around (GAA) transistors, which TSMC will be introducing with its TSMC's upcoming N2 (2nm-class) production nodes.

One of TSMC's long-term bets as the eventual successor to GAAFETs, CFETs are expected to offer advantages over GAAFETs and FinFETs when it comes to power efficiency, performance, and transistor density. However, these potential benefits are theoretical and dependent on overcoming significant technical challenges in fabrication and design. In particular, CFETs are projected to require the usage of extremely precise lithography (think High NA EUV tools) to integrate both n-type and p-type FETs into a single device, as well as determining the most ideal materials to ensure appropriate electronic properties.

Just like other chip fabs, TSMC is working on a variety of transistor design types, so having CFETs working in the lab is important. But it's also not something that is completely unexpected; researchers elsewhere have previously assembled CFETs, so now it's up to industry-focused TSMC to figure out how to bring about mass production. To that end, TSMC is stressing that CFETs are not in the near future.

Supremes Declare War on Wetlands "IndyWatch Feed War"

The Supreme Court is effectively axing a major component of the Clean Water Act, rolling back 50 years of wetland protection in a declaration of war against nature by changing a word in the text of the Clean Water Act.

Seldom, if ever, will repercussions of a Supreme Court decision be so far-reaching and detrimental to life for the planet. Its a dagger strike deep into the heart of the worlds most significant life source. Sauel Alito changing the text of the Clean Water Act is guaranteed to bring forth much, much worse flooding, especially along coastlines as sea levels rise from global warming; itll engender new sources of pollution of streams and lakes and bring on huge losses in biodiversity and crush the beauty of nature displaced by concrete, asphalt and development. Most importantly, aquifers depend upon wetlands for replenishment.

The Supreme Ct ruling in Sackett v. EPA effectively reverses what the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change -IPCC- stands for in its fight against climate change and global warmings impact on the planets life support ecosystems.

Wetlands are warriors. By far, the most effective fighters against the ravages of climate change, for example, they are: (1) carbon sinks that sequester 10 times more carbon than mature tropical forests; studies show they outperform lame, insufficient carbon capture and sequestration machines, which will never get the job done (2) natural line of defense against flooding (3) home to 40% of all the worlds species (4) a major component for natures hydrology system, filtering/cleansing water for streams and lakes and most significantly, replenishing aquifers. Without wetlands, rainfall follows concrete, asphalt, development channels away from aquifers. NASA claims 1/3rd of the worlds largest aquifers to be dangerously stressed, e.g., portions of the Ogallala aquifer in the Texas Panhandle have gone dry and in west-central Kansas the Ogallala aquifer has gone dry. The Ogallala is the largest aquifer, by volume, in the world, underlying 8 states.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan was re-elected for a third presidential term on Sunday, prompting his supporters to take to the streets in jubilation.

With his win secure, Erdogan addressed some of the things he plans to do in the near future. Yet, amid the celebrations, he nonetheless faces significant challenges, including: addressing the economic crisis, finding solutions for the refugee crisis, and securing victory in the upcoming municipal elections in 10 months' time.

That's just on the domestic front. As for foreign policy, Turkey's western allies are urging Erdogan to ratify Sweden's Nato membership before a summit in Vilnius on 11 July, an issue linked to Turkey's need for F-16 warplanes.

Middle East Eye takes a look at five of Erdogan's most pressing challenges:

Tough economic choices

Last week, Turkey's Central Bank reported negative net foreign exchange reserves for the first time since 2002, with a balance of $151.3m in the red as of 19 May. Erdogan has managed to finance his unorthodox monetary policy of maintaining low interest rates by obtaining currency swaps and injections of billions of dollars from Gulf allies and Russia. However, these resources have been depleted.

Backgrounder: International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) "IndyWatch Feed War"

The International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), a significant transport initiative spanning more than 7,200 kilometers, is a clear illustration of the resilience and desire to enhance global interconnectedness in Eurasian trade. Designed to facilitate efficient cargo transportation between India, Russia, Iran, and Azerbaijan, among others, the INSTC has evolved into a critical geopolitical hub with serious implications for each participant and their respective regions.

Recent dialogue between Indias Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and his Iranian counterpart, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Gharaei Ashtiyani, has refocused attention on this corridor. This backgrounder will consider the distinct roles and interests of the corridors four primary participants: India, Iran, Russia, and Azerbaijan. Special attention will be given to Indias current presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the intent to further develop the INSTC in line with the economic and geopolitical interests of these four nations.

Background of the INSTC

The INSTC was established in 2000 and ratified by India, Iran, and Russia in 2002. Its primary purpose was to provide an efficient trade route connecting the Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf with the Caspian Sea, extending further to Northern Europe. The corridor offers an attractive alternative to the traditional Suez Canal route, with the potential to reduce transit times by 40% and freight costs by 30%.

Understanding the strategic importance of the project, India views the INSTC as pivotal to the strengthening of ties with Central Asia, a region rich in hydrocarbons and of key geopolitical significance. That move was followed up by Indias ascension to full membership in the SCO. However, the projects implementation was delayed due to sanctions imposed on Iran.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed by Iran and several world powers, including the US, in July 2015, momentarily alleviated these difficulties by lifting some sanctions and boosting prospects of the INSTC. However, the US withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018, followed by the imposition of stricter sanctions on Iran, introduced new challenges, causing significant delays in infrastructure projects related to the INSTC.

Israel moves to re-establish illegal settlement of Homesh

Signs of a revival of West Bank's most controversial settlement has met with opposition in Israel

Israeli settlers on Monday relocated a Jewish religious school originally established on private Palestinian land in the illegal outpost of Homesh to nearby state-owned land.

Settlers have long campaigned for a yeshiva to be established in the area, and the latest move is part of an incremental effort by the government to legalise the Homesh settlement, built deep inside the occupied West Bank.

Earlier this year, Israeli lawmakers approved a controversial piece of legislation that would allow four abandoned Jewish settlements in the West Bank - Homesh, Sa-Nur, Ganim and Kadim - to be re-established after they were dismantled in 2005.

Monday's steps to tentatively re-establish the settlement was made with the approval of Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, and was given the green light by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Israeli military is allowing settlers to enter and exit Homesh freely, but journalists have been blocked from reporting on the construction efforts, according to Haaretz

A Giveaway "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Sometimes, I just have too many nearly-completed projects and experiments.

These are experimental blades I made by taking a chunk of wrought iron and welding a cutting edge to the face of the block. Then, I forged the block down and out, to see if the steel edge would stay stuck, or detach or crumble or otherwise do something naughty. Then, I quenched it normally, expecting it to turn to a pretzel as the steel and wrought iron expand and contract and heat and cool at different rates and different amounts. Surprise! The blades did bend dramatically but bent right back as they cooled, as though nothing had happened. And the steel hardened nicely, and didnt crack or anything naughty like that.

They need a bolster cut, a handle drilled and fitted, some glue, and handle shaping. Then, a good sharpening. The facing is 15N20 and ought to take a wicked edge.

The finish on the wrought iron is from leaving it in ferric chloride for 3 days to get it nice and woody. Then, I polished the surface a bit to see if itd highlight.

Pretty much.

If you want this blade, say so in the comments. First person who comments gimme wins. Also, you may suggest materials for a bolster and handle block and if I have it in stock, Ill cut some and send it along. If youre it, email me a shipping address and itll come in the mail in due time.

This is a low tools-required project. You could complete it with just a hand drill, something to shape a handle with/on, and some glue. No big shop full of grinders and hot surfaces required.

The Best Way to Commemorate Memorial Day: Talk to a Veteran "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

There are many things that Americans like to do on Memorial Day. Most of them are fun, such as traveling, cookouts, or attending sporting events. Others, like visiting a cemetery to pay respects to a loved one lost in war, are more somber. However, there is one more thing you should consider doing on this day: Reaching out to veterans. You might just save their life.

Almost 20 years of constant war means that there is a huge number of current and former soldiers who have seen action.

And, while many battle scars have left a mark, others are hidden. But that doesnt make them any less dangerous.

In fact, veterans are 1.5 times more likely to die from suicide than other adults.

That has many reasons, such as exposure to trauma, loneliness, familiarity with guns, and trouble reintegrating into normal life.

Maybe you cant do anything about that trauma, but simply having a conversation with them can make a real difference by helping them overcome loneliness or easing their reintegration into regular society.

As this flyer from the Department of Veterans Affairs points out, You dont have to be an expert to ask if someone is going through a difficult time or having thoughts of suicide.

And, it makes sense that veterans might be having those feelings on a day like Memorial Day when they are constantly reminded of the friends and comrades they lost.

In that case, a simple conversation might make all the difference, especially if you notice changes in their behavior.

If you do, keep in mind that they have many resources available. Obviously, if you believe they pose an imminent danger to themselves or others, call 911.

However, there is also a dedicated crisis line for veterans. That number is 1-800-273-8255, and responders are available 24/7. You dont have to be a veteran to call; you just have to care about one.

Agro giants buy grains from farmers fined for using Indigenous land in Brazil "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

MATO GROSSO, Brazil An illegal grain distribution scheme in Mato Grosso, publicly acknowledged by farmers and civil servants, may have taken soybeans and corn planted without permits on Indigenous lands in the state and within areas interdicted by IBAMA, Brazils environmental agency  to warehouses of some of the largest global commodity tradings. A joint investigation by Reprter Brasil and O Joio e O Trigo reveals commercial relations between seven agribusiness giants (Bunge, Cargill, COFCO, Amaggi, ADM do Brasil, Viterra and General Mills) and farmers fined by IBAMA for irregularly cultivating crops inside the Pareci, Utiariti and Rio Formoso Indigenous lands (ILs), from the Pares people. The soybean and corn negotiations took place in 2018 and 2019, a period when there was an interdiction in the areas. Indigenous lands are located in a region of Mato Grosso that concentrates a large part of Brazils grain production. Image courtesy of O Joio e O Trigo. However, the grain sales invoices accessed by the report do not identify the farms as being inside the Indigenous lands as the location of the production this would make business unviable since it is illegal to plant and to purchase production from interdicted lands. The documents indicate other agricultural properties as the origin of the grains, but all of them are neighboring (in some cases, next to) the IL and belong to the same producers fined by IBAMA for carrying out irregular plantations. The painfully obvious issue has sparked protests across the nation, with the LGBTQ+ community insisting there is nothing wrong with a hulking man smashing the records of female athletes, while actual females fight for the survival of women's sports.

Citing Wildfire Risk, State Farm Will Stop Selling Home Insurance in California "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

One of the catchiest jingles on US television, Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there, may need a rewrite after the insurance giant announced that, as of Saturday, it would no longer offer home insurance to new customers in California. Existing insurance policies are not affected.

According to a statement the company released on its website, the decision was at least partially motivated by the effects of climate change and rapidly growing catastrophe exposure.

The seven largest wildfires in Californias history have all occurred in the past five years and, with global temperatures continuing to go up, there is a good chance that these fires will continue to wreak havoc on the state.

At least thats what State Farm, the largest home and auto insurer in the US, seems to think.

We take seriously our responsibility to manage risk, the company said, adding that it recognizes the Governors administration, legislators, and the California Department of Insurance (CDI) for their wildfire loss mitigation efforts.

State Farm also cited historic increases in construction costs outpacing inflation as well as a challenging reinsurance market as reasons for taking this step.

Insurance companies have historically been on the frontlines of anticipating current and future risk. That is, after all, their business.

However, climate change and the weather catastrophes that come with it have made that job much more difficult.

Eric Anderson, the president of Aon PLC, a global insurance and reinsurance provider, told the Senate Budget Committee earlier this year that the uncertainty associated with climate change has created a crisis of confidence around the ability to predict loss.

This, Anderson said, has led reinsurance companies, which protect insurance companies from catastrophic losses, to withdraw from certain...

REVEALED: How Americas CIA Merged With Nazi Intelligence "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Honest and idealist.enjoys good food and wine.unprejudiced mind

Thats how a 1952 Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) assessment described Nazi ideologue Emil Augsburg, an officer at the infamous Wannsee Institute, the SS think tank involved in planning the Final Solution. Augsburgs SS unit performed special duties, a euphemism for exterminating Jews and other undesirables during the Second World War. Although he was wanted in Poland for war crimes, Augsburg managed to ingratiate himself with the U.S. CIA, which employed him in the late 1940s as an expert on Soviet affairs. Recently released CIA records indicate that Augsburg was among a rogues gallery of Nazi war criminals recruited by U.S. intelligence agencies shortly after Germany surrendered to the Allies. Pried loose by Congress, which passed the Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act three years ago, a long-hidden trove of once-classified CIA documents confirms one of the worst-kept secrets of the cold warthe CIAs use of an extensive Nazi spy network to wage a clandestine campaign against the Soviet Union.

Okowa Defends Allegation Of Betrayal Level On Him  On Zoning Of  Southern Presidency "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

IFEANYI OKOWA LATEST

LAGOS MAY 29TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Ifeanyi Okowa, outgoing governor of Delta state, has spoken on the accusations of betrayal levelled against him regarding the southern presidency agenda.

In the build-up to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary in May 2022, some stakeholders demanded that the presidential ticket be zoned to the south.

However, the party ditched zoning, throwing the contest for the presidential ticket open.

The move elicited heated criticism, with Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, saying the decision was in clear violation of the partys constitution

The attendant squabble led Wike and the governors of Benue, Abia, Oyo, and Enugu states to form a group called the G5.

Members of the group are believed to have worked against the success of Atiku Abubakar, PDP presidential candidate, in their election.

The Delta state governor, who was the vice-presidential candidate of the PDP, has been repeatedly accused of betraying the south.

The accusations partly stemmed from the reported resolution of the southern governors from PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC) after a meeting in Asaba, Delta state capital.

The governors were said to have mutually agreed on a southern president succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari.

Their agreement was dubbed the Asaba Accord.

I CHOSE PARTY WELFARE OVER SENTIMENTS

Speaking extensively on the matter in a chat with journalists on Sunday, Okowa said he never agreed to plans of a southern presidency.

He said the issue of zoning was never discussed as a main agenda at the meeting in Asaba, adding that it was only passed across as an afterthought.

I dont think there was any betrayal, people give the wrong communication. In the first instance, the meeting we held in Asaba never talked about the issue of a southern president. The meeting we held in Asaba was to discuss the issue concerning herdsmen and the need to find a stop to it, he said.

It was actually the meeting in Lagos but people just misconstrue the two. It was in a follow-up meeting in Lagos that the issue came up and it was not actually part of our agenda but we d...

E.K. Clark Tags Buhari As Worst Leader Nigeria Has Ever Had "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

BUHARI AND CLARK

LAGOS MAY 29TH (URHOBOTODAY)-FORMER Federal Commissioner for Information and South South Leader, Chief Edwin Clark has taken a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari, saying he is the worst leader Nigeria has ever had, accusing him of failing to see the entire country as his constituency.

The Leader of Southern and Middle Belt Leadership Forum (SMBLF), also accused Buhari of marginalising, humiliating the people of the Niger Delta as that region are really disappointed at the outgoing President.

Addressing Journalists on Sunday at his Asokoro Residence during a farewell press conference to Buhari, Clark  said that  the outgoing President violated his vow that he made to Nigerians during his inauguration in 2015 where hehad pledged to be fair to all parts of the country.

Quoting Buharis statement where he said,  Having just a few minutes ago swore on a holy book, I intend to keep my hope and same as President to all Nigerians. I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody, Clark noted that the president only observed it in breach .

The leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF said: In the past 8years, President Muhammadu Buhari has demonstrated in most cases that he did not belong to the whole country but to a group; his tribe and religion, which is contrary to what he said in his inaugural speech that he belong to everybody.

For instance, he appointed fourteen out of seventeen security Chiefs from one section of the country. So, the declaration that he belongs to everybody and nobody, was a sham. I make bold to say that the reverse has been the case, he belongs to some people, but not the entire Nigeria.

Even in simple matters like extending the good wishes of the government to notable personalities in the country on their birthdays or other landmark attainments, the Muhammadu Buhari administration was selective and biased in who it chooses to recognise or consider worthy of goodwill messages.

Cataloging a tsunami of Covid scandals "IndyWatch Feed War"

By my count, theyre at least 10 and they are all massive

BY BILL RICE, JR. | MAY 26, 2023

If you have an hour to spare, I highly recommend reading this document, which summarizes and debunks many of the false and counterproductive mandates. This 22,000-word paper was produced by authors from the Isle of Man of all places.

It is divided into five sections including in-depth treatment of virus originsiatrogenic deaths, lockdownsmandated masking and vaccines. I think it might be the most impressive and persuasive piece of Covid writing Ive read.

After reading the document, I was struck by the sheer number of massive scandals that have overlapped and cascaded like a series of tsunamis on the world in the past three-plus years.

By orders of magnitude, every one of these scandals dwarfs Watergate. As the authors point out, all are horrific and nightmarish.

Building upon the authors arguments and adding a few of my own scandals that werent highlighted in this paper, Ive identified 10 of these scandals. Again, each one by itself would probably qualify as the greatest scandal and outrage of our lifetimes.

When listed one after the other, readers are left with overwhelming evidence that our world must have gone completely mad. These scandals, roughly in chronological order, include:

(Mad) Scientists funded and encouraged by our own government probably created this virus.

The above  possibility is not discussed in the document. However, from my perspective, I see only three virus-origin possibilities:

  1. The virus crossed over into the human population via bats and then other animals.
  2. The virus was created or modified in a lab and either accidentally escaped or was intentionally released.
  3. And a theory that is embraced by a growing number of people there was no new novel coronavirus.

The latter two possibilities should, of course, qualify as massive, historic scandals.

If government-funded scientists (in America and China and perhaps other countries) created this virus, all they did was turn the world upside down and kill and sicken tens of millions of people (either from said lab-created virus and/or from the response to the alleged pandemic.)

Similarly, if one is convinced there was no new novel virus, our scientific experts and authorities would ha...

Eight of the 11 EAs that touch Lough Neagh are now N-bloc plurality or majority, including four east of the Bann.

East/west of the Bann has limited relevance as geographical shorthand to describe relative political dominance in NI. It ignores unionist dominance in Erne North, Enniskillen, Bann and Limavady. Nationalist bloc plurality in Airport and Dunsilly means that Culmore, Ardoyne and Garrison are now in one continuous nationalist zone. Londonderry East is west of the Bann but is politically closer to North Antrim than to Foyle. And what does east/west of the Bann mean for the upper Bann, which flows northwestwards from Slieve Muck to Bannfoot? Not to mention the bisection of Banbridge, Portadown and Coleraine. The solution to mass illegal immigration mass legal deportation "IndyWatch Feed Africa"

Migrants from Africa wait at the U.S. border with Mexico

Peter Halligan Peters Newsletter Substack May 27, 2023

It should be obvious, right?

Note: None of the below applies to LEGAL immigrants.

Heres an analogy.

Someone breaks in through the window in your lounge. What do you do? Shoot them dead on the spot (stand your ground States), arrest them and call the police, chase them away and repair the window, or, as per current US, UK and EU behaviour, throw the elderly relative, veteran or kid out of a bedroom  (doubling them up in another bedroom) feed the criminal, put the criminal on your health plan, give him access to all of your house and give him an allowance?

Perhaps once the criminal is properly ensconced in your house, you could engage the criminal in conversation like is climate change so much worse in your home country compared to the US or do those tattoos mean you were imprisoned for drug use, or murder or rape? or were the reports of fentanyl smuggling, murder and rape on the way to y house, exaggerated by five or twenty times or were they much worse?

The criminal could be male or female, may be diseased, and may be carrying their own child or someone elses or could be a child between 7 and 17 years old. The chances are though that the criminal is a fit and potentially violent fighting age male.

The equivalent of that analogy is occurring every day all over the western world. In the US there are probably close to 40 million illegal immigrants in the bedrooms of various communities.

NYC mayor Adams just stated that there are 41,000 being accommodated in 151 hotels (many owned by the Pakistan government as it happens) costing somewhere between 200 bucks and 500 bucks a night. Or rather, billing the City for that much. The actual cost is closer to 20 bucks a night.

(100) NYC is at breaking point 41,000 illegal immigrants housed 1n 151 hotels seeks an increase in Federal aid from 30 million bucks to billions (substack.com)

Ted Cruz recently stated that 6 million illegal immigrants have crossed the Southern border since Resident Biden ascended his throne of shame.

Moscow Warns West Against Playing with Fire "IndyWatch Feed War"

Fars News May 29, 2023

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Click to enlarge

The US and its allies are playing with fire by doubling down on their support for Kiev amid the conflict with Moscow, including by planning to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

Of course, its an unacceptable escalation, Lavrov stated regarding potential deliveries of American-made warplanes to Kiev in an interview with Russia 1 TV on Sunday.

I think there are reasonable people in the West who understand this. But everything is being dictated by Washington, London, and their satellites inside the EU,

According to the minister, it is Poland and the Baltic States Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia that are executing on the ground the aim set by the US to weaken Russia, deliver it a strategic defeat.

Some in the West are already discussing decolonization of Russia, meaning the dismembering of our country, Lavrov said, warning that this is playing with fire. There can be no doubts about that.

I hope reasonable people will step away from unconditional support for the neo-Nazi regime that the West itself created, he added.

The foreign minister suggested that the words of the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, who acknowledged earlier this week that in the near term, Ukraine will not be able to recapture the territories it lost to Russia, were a step forward to understanding the reality on the ground.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been pressing his Western backers for F-16 warplanes for months, arguing they are crucial for defending Ukrainian airspace amid Russias missile campaign targeting military facilities and energy infrastructure.

At the G20 summit last week, US President Biden Joe Biden said that Washington would support efforts by the UK, the Netherlands, and other European countries to train Ukrainian pilots to fly the F-16. White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated at the event that the US will work with our allies to determine when planes will be delivered, who will be...

We have entered an age of staged and manufactured bullshit. From Photoshop to holograms to AI the means are there. I dont know whats at the source of this particular bullshit, but I can tell when somethings off, and I get that sensation in near continuous fashion these days.

Apparently after 4 years in the cemetery, they had a CUSTOMARY transfer of the body from where they first planted it to a space under the altar. Then The Mother Abbess looked through a crack in the coffin and saw that the body was not decomposed. It seems they could have saved themselves a great deal of trouble to begin with, but then they wouldnt have their miracle.

Now it sits in the main concourse of the church where people get to do a bit of laying on the hands cure their Bursitis commune with dead relatives or simply get a photo taken with the dead AND DEPARTED nun.

Here we encounter one of those demonic peculiarities of Religion, where people worship old bones and kneel before the priestly celebrities, in their coffin-bound glitter suits, who carry official and approved scepters; wear magic rings and funny hats, and ramble on about how God fits between designated parameters. These parameters have been defined by the priests themselves on Gods behalf. How can we not be grateful for the intercession of priests?

The Smithsonian has a body that is called, Soapman. He was turned into soap when alkaline water from the soil leaked into his coffin. There are all kinds of anomalies of this sort. Lord Nelson was killed at The Battle of Trafalgar and preserved in a cask of rum for the journey home. Theres a rum called, Nelsons Blood. Some say it was a cask of brandy yadda-yadda not the point.

Female members of The Royal Family have been known to pickle themselves in gin. There are all kinds of reasons besides God deciding to that could account for the disinterred nuns condition. Heaven doesnt operate this way. People looking to make a buck operate this way. Personally, Ive no interest in the toenail clippings of a saint or a splinter of The True Cross; no such thing could exist as a power because The True Cross is SOMETHING OTHER THAN THAT!

Freemasonry is a Homosexual Organization "IndyWatch Feed War"

HenryMakow.com May 28, 2023

This article, first posted in 2009, inspired a eureka moment. Of course!

This is why so many politicians are gay, why heterosexuality is being repressed and homosexuality and pederasty foisted on us instead.

It explains why the elite is gay, and phallic obelisks are everywhere.  Humanity has been inducted into a pagan sex cult that involves gendercide i.e. gender genocide.

Pike states that an initiate commemorates in sacramental observance this mysterious passion; and while partaking of the raw flesh of the victim, seems to be invigorated by a fresh draught from the fountain of universal life.Hence the significance of the phallus. (p.393)

DIRTY SHOTS: DNA contamination and cancer-causing agent SV40 found in mRNA vaccines "IndyWatch Feed War"

Laura Harris Natural News May 25, 2023

The Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna have DNA contamination.

Microbiologist Dr. Kevin McKernan has discovered unacceptable levels of double-stranded DNA plasmids floating around Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. Pharmaceutical and medical device R&D executive Sasha Latypova expounded on McKernans findings in an interview with The Freedom Corner with Peter Sweden.

Latypova said the DNA contamination is a significant problem because the replicable DNA plasmids can invade human cells and bacteria in the gut. This invasion can lead to the replication of antibiotic-resistant genes, sepsis, cancer and other health issues.

Experts at the World Council for Health (WCH) also confirmed that DNA contamination in mRNA vaccines is a global risk. They said the presence of replicable DNA plasmids in both the monovalent and bivalent vaccines is unacceptable, and called for an immediate halt to the COVID-19 vaccine program.

Besides the DNA contamination, McKernan also discovered the presence of Simian virus (SV40) promoters in Pfizers mRNA vaccine. The SV40 found in the vaccine is just a viral piece not the whole virus. However, it still presents a risk of driving cancer.

SV40 was initially found in rhesus monkey kidney cells used to produce both inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) and oral polio vaccine (OPV.) When it was discovered to be an animal carcinogen, a law was passed in 1961 to prohibit its presence in vaccines. (Related: The true story of SV40, the cancer-causing virus hidden in polio vaccines.)

COVID-19 vaccines are disarming peoples immune systems

McKernan warned that there is a lack of quality control in the manufacturing process of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines, and it could pose risks such as anaphylaxis, blood clotting, antibiotic resistance, gene integration and long-term production of spike protein in the body.

Dr. Mark Trozzi, a Canadian physician and medical researcher, supported McKernans findings about the high concentrations of bacterial DNA in P...

A while ago, we stated that there were MPs who were doing the job they were elected to do.

One of them is the Right Hon. Esther McVey MP, who continues to ask questions prompting now routine escape and evasion answers from HMG. They must have taken a master class from the Great Houdini or undergone SAS selection, where you must withstand interrogation if caught.

Here is the latest example answered by no less than the MP who openly persecuted us on a website because, amongst other peccadillos, we dared to question the rules of six (remember that?).

HMG and Mr OBrien MP announced that they have absolutely no intention of investigating the causes of excess mortality in England and Wales. Instead, they ran for cover behind the usual waffle of F&C words and sundry conditions and will set out a strategy. A bit too late for those who have left us; the Minister, however, was careful not to mention statin starvation and lack of BP monitoring, so at least they have stopped making fools of themselves. Maybe.

But there you have it, young or old, black or white, poor, very poor or very very poor, hot or cold, you can die before your time, and its ok with HMG.

A truly democratic set of principles.

Despite the official attitude, we will continue to keep this public health drama in the public eye, but we need your help, all of you, your friends and your contacts.

Think of what we have been through in the last three years and what the families of those who died must feel.

5 Lessons From The Animal Kingdom "IndyWatch Feed World"

We here observe the luminous nature of nature and discouver its kindness which is the ultimate surprise.

I also share an image of the Green man as a reminder that our spirit world operates quite differently than we think.

Understand that the Green man has been observed, as has the King of the Dandelions.  It makes natural sense that a living spirit body can drive any life type such as a simple potato beetle but that it does not drive just one, but a population.  Our own spirit body likely splits up to form 64 separate spirit clones.  Understand that this is either first or second tier matter and is like the matrix, which makes copying easy.  thus the king of hte Dandelions can pump out literally millions of spirit clones.

as these clones die off, the experiences are all reintegrated into the whole for a rinse and repeat.

this also makes shamanic experiences much more real than expected.

We have ample bird watching stations.

And folks need to have something like this rather than the usual difficult viewing environments.  Parks can use these builds to encourage bird watching visits and the birds will get comfortable with this type of build.

A response to Andy Pollaks post about the southern media "IndyWatch Feed Politics.eu"

My friend Andy Pollak has written long and eloquently about the ignorance of the southern electorate of all things north of the border, and delights in quoting academics who share this view. Academic disdain for the ignorance of the masses is, of course, nothing new, but in fairness, Andys latest treatise on Slugger OToole on the ignorance of the southern media could only have been written by an insider who knows the industry well.

As someone who has never been published in the southern media other than in a couple of hundred Letters to the Editor and a feature, in the Village Magazine, critical of the Irish Times website reboot some years ago, I have no particular interest in defending it.

And yet I find myself in utter disagreement with Andy.

Ireland is a small country, with a limited media market and very few prominent titles, each with their own agenda. The state broadcaster, like any state broadcaster, tends not to stray too far from government policy.

The Irish Times isnt bad, but If you want good coverage of international events you have to go to the Guardian, New York Times, Financial Times, Washington Post, European titles or Al Jazeera. The BBC is increasingly significant for what it doesnt report on rather than what it does, but all these outlets have their own agendas.

Thus it is hardly fair to single out Irish media for having an agenda, or not being over enthused about having extensive coverage of the North. Nobody outside Northern Ireland has. So, I felt moved to respond to Andys column with a comment which grew to over a thousand words, which in my view is too long for a comment. So, I have asked Slugger to publish it here as a separate post below.

Comments in response to Andys post:

1. The market for traditional news is declining the world over. Most in my extended circle, including many with doctorates, get their news via social media now.

2. The degree of knowledge of the north you get in the south, is still an order of magnitude greater than you will find in Britain.

3. Most find the north to be an incredibly boring and stagnant place in terms of its politics, economics or social development. There is only so much guff about the protocol which even the most engaged can take. The dominant narrative presented is one of backwardness, bigotry and decline. Who wants to read about that?

4. Mostly I read Andys diatribes about southern ignorance as a complaint that the vast majority refuse to engage with the north on his or on unionist terms. I dont have a problem with that. Engaging with unionism on its terms would drag southern society back 50 years, and that is not...

Introduction: did the Israeli army really burn defenceless Egyptians alive in Latrun?

Last July Israeli journalist Yossi Melman tweeted information about a battle between Egyptian and Israeli forces during the 1967 Six-Day War which was subsequently the basis for a report published by the Haaretz newspaper. Presenting details that had reportedly been under military censorship for nearly 55 years, Melman and eyewitness Zeev Bloch the IDF commander in the area at the time disclosed that dozens of fallen Egyptian soldiers lie beneath the car park of the Mini Israel tourist attraction near Latrun. They also revealed that the IDF soldiers who had originally found and buried the bodies had neglected to identify them and to mark the graves, contrary to international law. Allegedly, some looting of the Egyptian soldiers personal property also took place.

That specific group of Egyptian soldiers was located in an uncultivated field of scrub vegetation and dry thorns during an exchange of fire with the IDF. Approximately twenty of them became trapped in the area when it went up in flames as a result of the battle and the weather conditions and were burnt alive. At the end of the battle the IDF captured a few survivors as prisoners of war (POWs), some of whom had lost their weapons during the battle and the fire that followed.

Although it appeared as an integral part of the July 2022 report by Melman and Haaretz (together with the Akevot NGO), that chain of events was not unknown and had never been censored: at least two Israeli studies of the war, published in 1967 and 1982, mention it in full.
