Comparing Online Suboxone Doctors With Traditional Physicians The Event Chronicle

The ongoing opioid crisis has forced many individuals to seek treatment for opioid use disorder. Suboxone is a powerful medication that can be used to help treat opioid addiction, but not every person is able to access a traditional healthcare provider to get the prescription they need.

Fortunately, there are online suboxone doctors that can provide a safe and convenient way to access this powerful medication.

In this article, we will compare online Suboxone doctors with traditional physicians to help you decide which option is best for you. We will list the advantages and disadvantages of both options and leave it up to you to decide which one works. If youd like to consider the former, Confidant Healths suboxone doctors are a message away to help you deal with your concerns.

Traditional Physicians

Source: abcnews.go.com

The first option for individuals looking to get a Suboxone prescription is to visit a traditional healthcare provider. This could be a doctor, a nurse practitioner, or a psychiatrist. Some conventional doctors, such as primary care physicians (PCPs), may be generalists as well. When a certain health problem or illness affects many physiological systems, multiple doctors may collaborate to regulate your symptoms or manage your diseases. This traditional medicine method is widely seen as reactive rather than preventative.

These providers are trained and experienced in diagnosing and treating opioid use disorder and will be able to provide you with a prescription for Suboxone if they determine that its right for you.

1. Advantages of Traditional Physicians

The primary benefit of going to a traditional physician is that they will be able to assess your individ...

Still more snowfall in the Alps - 5 feet of snow after weekend snowstorm Signs of the Times

It is snowing again in the Alps following the huge snowfalls in France, as well as some ski areas in western and northern Austria, Italy and Switzerland at the weekend. The snowfall today (Tuesday 14th March 2023) is more widespread than the weekend falls, with many areas further east in Italy and Switzerland as well as in Austria posting good falls down to the valley floor. The snowfall follows a temperature spike yesterday which saw many areas see afternoon highs of +10 to +15C on lower slopes, and is expected to just last a day or so before drier weather for the rest of this week. The weekend snowstorm brought up to 1.5 metres (five feet) of snowfall to ski areas in the northern French Alps. Avoriaz, Cervinia, La Rosiere and Tignes were among the resorts posting the biggest jumps in their upper slope base depths (at least a metre each). Avalanche danger levels have also risen to 3 (considerable) or 4 (high) on the scale to a maximum of 5. Tignes had the deepest upper slope base...

First nor'easter of the season dumps heavy snow (3 FEET), cuts off power to hundreds of thousands across US Northeast Signs of the Times

The season's first nor'easter has dropped nearly 3 feet of snow over parts of the US Northeast as of Tuesday evening, piling on trees and power lines and causing power outages for tens of thousands in the frigid weather with more snow possible into the night. More than 240,000 customers across the region were without electricity as the sun went down Tuesday, including in New York, Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, according to utility tracker PowerOutage.us. Areas from upstate New York into southern New England have reported snowfall totals of at least 2 feet since Monday night, and parts of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine could see another 6 to 12 inches through the night, according to the Weather Prediction Center.

Local farmers spearhead soil testing after train derailment Signs of the Times

Wallace partnered with the state Department of Environmental Protection, the EPA and its contractors to collect 15 soil samples from farms across the region for more testing. Farmers in western Pennsylvania began offering their soil samples for collection in recent weeks after contamination concerns about the train derailment in nearby East Palestine, Ohio went unaddressed. Cliff Wallace, president of the Beaver-Lawrence Farm Bureau, told The Center Square on Tuesday he's spoken with property owners seven miles out from the burn site who say they saw plumes of smoke drifting over their land in the aftermath of the crash.

Canberra: Join us - rally, say No to War protect truthtellers 8am 20th March ACT Courts (We) can do better

Join us - rally, say No to War protect truthtellers 8am Monday 20th March at the ACT Courts. On the 20th anniversary of the illegal invasion of Iraq, and as the Coalition of the Willing which was responsible for the illegal invasion of Iraq on 20 March 2003 has regrouped as AUKUS, we should remember the legacy of that disastrous war and other destructive wars. (Reposted from .)

Two people in particular are suffering persecution today because they dared to expose war crimes. Julian Assange released material including a video of the Baghdad airstrike which killed two Reuters journalists and other civilians, and ADF Major David McBride gave the ABC information about alleged war crimes in Afghanistan. David will be in court on the day to learn the date of commencement of his trial after 4 years!

We have a great line up of speakers

Dr Monique Ryan MP, Major David McBride, Senator David Shoebridge, Lawyer and survivor of a political prosecution, Bernard Collaery, Dr Sue Wareham, President of MAPW, GetUp CEO. Larissa Baldwin-Roberts and CBA whistleblower, Jeff Morris. Co Convenor of AAPP, Craig Andrews will MC the rally.

The wars on Iraq and Afghanistan resulted in the deaths of many hundreds of thousands of people, as well as injuring or displacing millions more. The wars caused widespread environmental destruction.

Join us to call on the Australian government to:

bring Assange home

drop the charges against McBride, and

SAY NO TO WAR ON CHINA.

Please come along to support David McBride and Julian Assange and to express horror that the countries which were responsible for so much heartbreak in Iraq and Afghanistan are bent on engaging in another war.

This rally is a joint event between the Alliance Against Political Prosecutions, the Independent and Peaceful Australia Network and the Medical Association for the Prevention of War.

MAPW Fundraising dinner 6.30pm, 28 March, Ainslie Football Club, with speaker Prof Clinton Fernandes, author of Island of the Coast of Asia, and the recent Subimperial Power: Australia in the International Arena on AUKUS and Australias Role in the Emerging World Order.

The China and Russia 'no limits friendship' 2.0 Signs of the Times

Many in the West have been predicting a downturn in the China-Russia alliance in the wake of the ongoing Russian Special Military Operations in Ukraine. A recent article in the Foreign Affairs magazine pointed out 'key' points of disagreement between Beijing and Moscow to highlight the obvious 'limits' of the otherwise 'no limits' friendship. According to such projections, we should have seen conflict between both countries. But what we are actually seeing is the exact opposite of this prediction: China and Russia recently reaffirmed their 'no limits' friendship, an alliance that originally started almost a year ago ('no-limits 1.0') and is now growing to the next level as 'no-limits' 2.0. This reaffirmation has caused some trouble in the Western world, as the latter has already started to scramble allies to 'punish' China for its persistent support for Russia against the combined strength of NATO. As reports in the mainstream media show, the US is already consulting with its G7...

Bombshell from Germany's Federal Minister of Health Signs of the Times

Karl Lauterbach is Germany's Federal Minister of Health. Yesterday, he dropped a bombshell on Germans in an interview. It has been posted on Youtube with English subtitles. You can find the video here (start: 3:54; end:15:17 [interview with minister of health starts at 8:07). The COVID-19 'vaccine'-induced injuries that were covered in this program are severe, life-altering, and permanent. More people are waking up to the reality that more of these severe injuries have occurred and continue to emerge than what has ever been admitted publicly by those pushing the shots. This is the nature of passive monitoring systems, particularly when coupled with active dissuasion of reporting. COVID-19 'vaccine'-injured people are finding themselves falling between the cracks in health care systems. This is horrible, but unfortunately, is not news for most of us. The news agency and Minister of Health confirmed that the Pharma companies are free of liability due to 'vaccine' injuries. This...

The media ignore Democrats in Congress stepping on freedom of speech Signs of the Times

Last week, Congress and the federal government stomped on press freedom and the press said nothing. Four watershed events lead to the inescapable conclusion that the entire Democratic Party and parts of the GOP have become the enemy of free speech and, astonishingly, they are aided and abetted by the most prestigious brands in news media, that have become tools of oppression, rather than defenders of the First Amendment. 1. Democrats in Congress tried to force a journalist to reveal his sources. Nowhere more sickening was the Democratic Party's lockstep defense of censorship than in Thursday's hearing of the House "Weaponization of Government" subcommittee. Independent liberal journalists Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger were asked to testify about the censorship regime imposed by the federal government, academia, NGOs and Twitter, as revealed in the Twitter Files. For their trouble they were slimed and threatened by Democrats.

Former US natsec advisor: destroy Taiwan semiconductor factories if China invades Signs of the Times

A growing body of evidence suggests that the US would blow up the global economy to prevent China from laying claim to Taiwan's semiconductor factories. Former White House National Security Advisor Robert C. O'Brien has hinted at a sinister US contingency plan in the event of a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. Rather than see Taiwan's semiconductor factories fall into the hands of the Communist Party of China, the US and its allies would simply pull a Nordstream. "The United States and its allies are never going to let those factories fall into Chinese hands," O'Brien told Semafor, a news outlet that has been funded by jailed Democratic financier Sam Bankman-Fried and his brother. O'Brien went on to compare the destruction of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC) to Winston Churchill's bombing of a French naval fleet after the country's surrender to Nazi Germany. Semiconductors made in Taiwan are necessary for the functioning of everything from smartphones to cars. Taiwan...

A return to our hunter-gatherer roots may benefit child development Terra Forming Terra

What is not ever addressed is that child care and safety is first, a problem in archetecture.  It has to first be convenient for the natural community to be fully involved.

Today we have the actual absurdity of building living slabs while providing no provision for real time contact and public congress, let alone sharing childcare services.  This was inevitable when settling the land but not obvious inside cities.

So yes, children are normally getting more direct contact and adults are available to help handle the task.

https://newatlas.com/medical/oral-pill-bad-cholesterol-phase-2-clinical-trial/

An oral pill has proven promising for reducing bad cholesterol levels in a new phase 2 clinical trial

High cholesterol levels are a common and potentially deadly health problem, but a new drug could help more people manage the condition. An experimental pill has been shown to reduce levels of bad cholesterol by 60% in a phase 2 clinical trial.

Known as MK-0616, the new drug works by inhibiting a protein called PCSK9, lower levels of which helps the liver break down low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. PCSK9 inhibitors have been a major avenue for treatments to reduce cholesterol, but it usually involves subcutaneous injections, or in one study even gene therapy.

The new trial investigated the efficacy of MK-0616 as an oral PCSK9 inhibitor. Over 380 participants enrolled, who all had elevated levels of LDL cholesterol and a history of heart disease or risk factors for it. They were randomly assigned to one of five groups, receiving either a placebo or MK-0616 a...

The Greatest Hero and Villain of Our Times Terra Forming Terra

It is just too soon to figure this out yet.  Folks have an initial infectous event and then the virus goes through latency.  Then it emerges through oppotunistic infections becoming more dangerous as the immune system declines.

It is plausible and possible that 80%  of the global population will discover they have AIDS.  Now we wait and see.

He is a global intellectual property expert who has exposed decades of patents and other intellectual property evidence of premeditated covid crimes, including mass murder, racketeering, and fraud. That evidence he has collected is now the backbone of court cases going after covid arch-criminals for mass murder.

Biden, Trudeau, Fauci, Baric, Daszak, and others are named in this lawful hunt of arch criminals. Eventually, Bill Gates will become the most wanted man on earth, for he is the mastermind behind so much evil he should be bright and take the first ship to mars. But the FDA and CDC should be high on the list meaning the United States government is implicated in the worst crimes in history. Then, of course, there is the WHO.

Stanford law school descends into Orwellian nightmare as woke students dressed in black masks line halls demanding their 'counter speech' be protected after dean apologized to conservative judge for being heckled --On Monday, the dean found her classroom whiteboard covered in fliers saying 'Where was his apology?' and she was herself confronted by masked students | 14 March 2023 | Stanford Law School's dean had her classroom whiteboard pasted over with protest posters and found herself confronted by silent masked students on Monday, after she apologized to a conservative judge who was invited to speak at the university, and then heckled into silence. Jenny Martinez, the dean, apologized to Judge Kyle Duncan for the March 9 incident on campus. Duncan, appointed by Donald Trump, demanded an apology after he was invited to speak, only to be berated by a pious dean while students shouted abuse at him. On Monday, students made their displeasure at her apology clear, papering over her whiteboard with printed signs that read: "We have free speech rights too," "Where is our apology?" and "Counter-speech is free speech." At the end of the class, Martinez left the room to be confronted with a corridor lined with law students wearing black masks that read: "Counter-speech is free speech."

Censoring Social Media to Prevent Bank Runs Armstrong Economics

They censored social media to prevent the public from learning the truth about COVID, vaccines, and accompanying mandates. They censored social media to prevent the public from learning about Hunter Bidens laptop before his dad could be installed at the POTUS. They censored anyone who questioned the election or Bidens crime family and deliberately leaked Republican voter information. The extreme censorship on social media by biased fact-checkers expanded beyond the US. So it comes as no surprise that the government would like to censor misinformation that could lead to a bank run.

DeSantis Confirms His Position on Ukraine Armstrong Economics

Two potential GOP candidates for the 2024 US election want to pull America out of the proxy war overseas. This sentiment is not within party lines as Neocons have infiltrated both major political parties as they profit off of war. Trump was extremely vocal about his distaste for the war and has been anti-war in general since he came on the scene. DeSantis finally confirmed his position by saying the territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia is not a vital national interest for the US.

DeSantis said that peace should be the objective. The Biden administrations virtual blank check funding of this conflict for as long as it takes, without any defined objectives or accountability, distracts from our countrys most pressing challenges, the 44-year-old politician argued. DeSantis plainly said that objective for peace is in the best interest for the US, as additional funding would risk explicitly drawing the United States into the conflict and drawing us closer to a hot war between the worlds two largest nuclear powers. That risk is unacceptable.

Trump boasted of his past diplomatic relations with Putin. He was in fact one of the only recent US presidents to establish diplomatic relations with unfriendly countries. Before I even arrive at the Oval Office, I will have the disastrous war between Russia and Ukraine settled. I will get the problem solved. And I will get it solved in rapid order and it will take me no longer than one day, Trump said. I know exactly what to say to each of them. Trump has also stated that the problem is primarily a European one, hence his repeated efforts to cut Americas NATO spending.

There no such thing as Random Walks in Markets or Economics Armstrong Economics

COMMENT: Marty, I really cannot thank you enough. Socrates called yesterday as the turning point and it was the strongest one of the week. We got the bounce when everyone was in a panic state claiming that the Fed would not have to lower rates. They really do not understand central banks as you alone have explained many times. There was no way the Fed would lower rates and undermine its credibility by suspending its inflation fight now. That would blow all credibility and lead to panic for sure. The Fed will not change because of SVB for that would undermine financial stability completely.

I am not sure just how much Socrates helps traders and society.

Paul

REPLY: I do realize that Socrates could run the economy far better than any human. The anthrax attacks also known as the "Amerithrax" attacks occurred just one week after the September 11, 2001, terror attacks [also an inside job by the deep state]. The attacks consisted of anthrax being sent through the United States Postal System via letters and delivered to several news organizations, Sen. Patrick Leahy, and Sen. Tom Daschle. Kennedy shared that the letters were sent to both Sen. Leahy and Sen. Daschle because they were trying to block the Patriot Act in 2001.

Unconfirmed reports in the Russian media put the drones location about 60 kilometers (37 miles) southwest of the Crimean port of Sevastopol. What kind of drone was it? U.S. government agencies may have been double-billed for projects in Wuhan, China, records indicate; probe launched CLG News

Paying twice to die once: U.S. government agencies may have been double-billed for projects in Wuhan, China, records indicate; probe launched --Sources told CBS News that tens of millions of dollars could be involved. | 13 March 2023 | The U.S. government may have made duplicate payments for projects at labs in Wuhan, China, through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), according to records reviewed by CBS News. It is concerning, especially since it involves dangerous pathogens and risky research," said Diane Cutler, a former federal investigator with over two decades of experience combating white-collar crime and healthcare fraud. Cutler found evidence of possible double payments as she investigated U.S. government grants that supported high risk research in China leading up to the COVID-19 pandemic. 9 Ways to Ensure You Raise Resilient Kids Who Never Give Up Awareness Act

There are a lot of important values and traits that are extremely beneficial to your child and their overall happiness and success. Of course, some traits and values stand above the rest, and one of those that seem to shine brighter than most is resilience.

Resilience is defined by the Oxford dictionary as follows,

1. the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.
the remarkable resilience of so many institutions
2. the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; elasticity.
nylon is excellent in wearability and resilience

So, it makes sense why parents would want to encourage the development of this trait within their children. One day, your child will endure difficult circumstances and when they do, it is our job as parents to instill in them the strength they will need to overcome. Below, I will discuss 9 ways to ensure you raise resilient kids who never give up.

1. Be intentional.

There are two ways to approach raising your children: you can take it day by day, moment by moment, never really understanding where you are going or what you are aiming for, and letting life take charge of your parenting. Or, you can take the other approach which is more intentional. What I mean, is that if you want to give your kids the best chance possible, its important to know what you want to do as a parent to raise the best children and happiest children you can.

2. Encourage your children to recognize and label how they feel.

Its important in a myriad of ways for your child to have emotional management skills. One of the most important tasks we have for preparing our kids for life is helping them develop emotional intelligence. This means removing invalidating responses and instead, helping your kids to recognize their emotions, and showing them how to cope.

3. Not accommodating their every need or wish.

It might be tempting to never allow your child to want anything. I see this a lot on social media, where kids who had neglectful parents choose to go to the extreme in the opposite direction. Sadly, this does not help your kids to develop resilience. Instead, it breeds entitlement.

4. Avoid removing all of the obstacles for your kids.

Additionally, you may believe it is your job as a parent to remove every obstacle you foresee. However, when you begin to do this all of the time, what happens is that your children never get a chance to develop the capacity to learn how to overcome them for themselves. In turn, you are robbing them of developing resilience.

5. Teach them to problem-solve.

All children should be taught how to solve their problems. For example, lets say that your child is extremely shy and so they are nervous about presenting their science project. A more anxious parent would try t...

9 Habits Of Couples That Stay Madly In Love Awareness Act

A lot of people think that when it comes to love, you meet the right person, and you live happily ever after. However, it takes a bit more effort than that.

Actually, when it comes to staying in love, you have to work for it. No matter who you are with, if you have bad relationship habits, it just isnt going to work. At the end of the day, the couples that make it to 50 or 60 years and beyond are the ones who know that you have to keep working for it, each and every day. Below, I will go over the 9 habits of couples that stay madly in love.

1. They never stop dating each other.

A lot of people think that after you have been with someone for years, the spark just fades. The thing is, if you stop doing the little things that kept that spark afloat, then yes, it will fade. It is your job as a partner to continue trying to find ways to keep that flame alive.

2. They keep the spark alive.

Keeping the spark alive requires work. This means making it a point to try new things together, it means doing the things you know your partner loves. Additionally, it means you need plenty of quality time together.

3. They are always trying to understand each other.

Couples who stay together care about understanding their partner. Even if they do not see things from the same perspective, they try to understand where their partner is coming from.

4. They compromise.

Compromise is everything in a relationship. Sometimes, this will mean that you will have to do something you may not necessarily want and in some cases, your partner will have to bend for you. That is how it works.

5. They fight for the relationship, not to be right.

Just because you fight with your partner does not mean that you are doomed. Actually, fighting is a sign that you care enough to try to fix the problems that are before you. The main difference is that if you are fighting, you shouldnt be fighting to be right, you should be fighting to make things work.

6. They are best friends.

The couples that last the longest have a friendship first and foremost. They make each other laugh, they support each other, and they work together as a team.

7. They share core values.

When you are in a relationship, its so important for you to share similar values and goals. Otherwise, you are going to butt heads and frequently. That is why it is so important to constantly be trying to find common ground with your partner.

8. They know when to admit when they are wrong.

There will be times when you are going to be wrong. There will be times when your partner is wrong. The thing that is most important is that you can be self-aware enough to know when you are wrong and admit it.

9. They are constantly growing together.

Couples who stay together are constantly growing together and working on becoming better as a team. They join efforts and use the...

10 Signs You Are With A Good Man Awareness Act

When you find a man that you like and the sparks are flying, it can be hard to tell if this person is a good man, or if you are just blind by lust. It is because of that, that as humans, we often second guess ourselves, especially if we have been hurt before.

However, when a good man comes into your life, there will be signs that indicate that you are on the right path. If you are currently trying to figure out whether the guy you are into is a good man, then you should check out the following ten signs that indicate you are with a good man.

1. He makes you want to be a better person.

If you are with a guy that makes you want to be a better person and who makes you want to do more with yourself, youve found a good guy. One of the best signs you are with someone in a healthy relationship is that this person will encourage you to be your best self.

2. He respects you.

Respect should be obvious, but nowadays, it can be hard to come by. That said, please do not settle for anyone who does not respect you.

3. He respects your people.

When you find a guy you like a lot, one of the first instincts you will have is to introduce them to your friends and family. However, when they do, if they are not respectful, this is a major red flag. On the contrary, if he is good to your people and treats them with respect, then go for it!

4. He treats waitresses and animals with kindness.

One of the number one requirements I have for dating a guy is that he MUST treat animals and waitresses with kindness. Far too often, people take their anger and frustrations out on people who do not deserve it. If the guy is compassionate and has integrity at all the right times, this is a sign hes one of the good ones.

5. He makes you feel beautiful.

If a guy makes you feel beautiful inside and out, then he is a keeper. One of the most wonderful things in the world is being around someone who makes you naturally shine.

6. He is super supportive.

Does he support your goals and aspirations? If so, then he is likely a good guy. Especially if he is supportive at all the right times. Bonus points if he is especially emotionally supportive.

7. He is emotionally intelligent.

Emotional intelligence is hard to come by these days. What I mean, is that many people do not get taught or develop the right emotional tools to recognize their emotional states and manage them. So, to me, as a grown a$$ adult woman, if a man isnt emotionally intelligent, he is not for me.

8. He is considerate.

Does he consider your feelings before acting or speaking? If so, then he is a good guy. For example, if he was thinking about booking a trip for the two of you and chose the location he knows you have been wanting to visit, that shows he considered you before taking action.

9. He has ambition.

Does he have aspirations and is he driven towa...

32-Year-old Modern Woman Draws Comics About Societal Double Standards Awareness Act

One of my favorite things to see is content created by women, for women, and to empower women. One artist who has done just that is Lainey Molner, who is a very gifted artist who works to create comics that are not only relatable but also clever.

Through her work, she illustrates the interesting stereotypes and double standards in our society in a way that gets a good point across and in a way that anyone can understand. What I love most about these comics is that anyone can resonate with them, and honestly, I believe that even men can resonate with them if they look at them from an open-hearted place.

1. Respect is deserved, no matter what you choose to do with your life.

2. Its okay to not have kids.

3. Double standard surrounding birth control.

5. Everybody is different.

Permindex Front Organization for the CIA? The Black Vault

Permindex is a now-defunct organization that was established in the 1950s, with its headquarters located in Rome, Italy. It was ostensibly created to facilitate trade and commerce between European countries and those in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. However, Permindex is perhaps best known for its alleged involvement in various conspiracies and clandestine activities during the Cold War era.

One of the most notable conspiracy theories associated with Permindex is its alleged involvement in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. According to this theory, Permindex was a front organization for a group of international elites who sought to overthrow the US government and establish a new world order. Some have even suggested that Permindex was linked to the CIA or other intelligence agencies, and that its members had ties to organized crime.

While there is no concrete evidence to support these conspiracy theories, the fact remains that Permindex was a highly secretive and shadowy organization that operated outside the public eye. It was founded by a group of European businessmen, including Louis M. Bloomfield, a Canadian lawyer who had ties to the intelligence community. Bloomfield and others involved with Permindex were known to have connections to various political and military figures, including dictators and other authoritarian leaders.

Despite its murky origins and reputation, Permindex did operate as a legitimate business organization for a time, and it played a role in facilitating trade and commerce between Europe and other parts of the world. However, its association with various conspiracy theories and alleged illegal activities ultimately led to its downfall, and it was officially dissolved in the early 1970s.

Today, Permindex remains a subject of fascination for many conspiracy theorists and historians, who continue to speculate about its true purpose and activities. While the truth may never be fully known, the legacy of Permindex serves as a reminder of the often-shadowy world of international politics and commerce, and the potential for powerful individuals and organizations to operate beyond the reach of public scrutiny.

US military drone crashes into Black Sea after being followed by Russian jets Signs of the Times

A U.S military MQ-9 surveillance drone crashed into the Black Sea on Tuesday after being intercepted by Russian fighter jets, in the first such incident since Russia's invasion of Ukraine over a year ago. The Pentagon said that one of the Russian Su-27 jets struck the propeller of the drone, making it inoperable, while Russia's defense ministry blamed "sharp maneuvering" of the unmanned drone for the crash and said that its jets did not make contact. Although no lives were lost, it was a reminder of the risk of direct confrontation between the United States and Russia over Ukraine, which Moscow invaded over a year ago and which Western allies have supported with intelligence and weapons. Comment: The West has admitted it is directing Ukraine's forces, and Germany's minister recently admitted that the West 'is at war with Russia': US & EU special forces and the CIA ARE on the ground in Ukraine after all - Coordinating Ukraine's weapons, training, and 'attack app'

China will once again start issuing a range of visas to foreigners as of Wednesday, the country's foreign ministry said, in a major easing of travel restrictions in place since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. The move marks the latest step towards reopening China to the outside world, as Beijing breaks with the strict zero-Covid strategy that defined its pandemic response until a few months ago. In addition to new visas being reviewed and approved, those issued before March 28, 2020 that remain valid will once again allow entry to China, said a notice posted Tuesday on a social media account affiliated with the foreign ministry's consular affairs bureau. Similar notices appeared on the websites of several overseas Chinese missions, including its embassies in the United States and France.

Webb captures rarely seen prelude to a supernova Signs of the Times

A Wolf-Rayet star is a rare prelude to the famous final act of a massive star: the supernova. As one of its first observations in 2022, the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope captured the Wolf-Rayet star WR 124 in unprecedented detail. A distinctive halo of gas and dust frames the star and glows in the infrared light detected by Webb, displaying knotty structure and a history of episodic ejections. Despite being the scene of an impending stellar 'death', astronomers also look to Wolf-Rayet stars for insight into new beginnings. Cosmic dust is forming in the turbulent nebulas surrounding these stars, dust that is composed of the heavy-element building blocks of the modern Universe, including life on Earth. The rare sight of a Wolf-Rayet star among the most luminous, most massive, and most briefly-detectable stars known was one of the first observations made by the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope. Researcher solves nearly 60-year-old game theory dilemma Signs of the Times

To understand how driverless vehicles can navigate the complexities of the road, researchers often use game theory mathematical models representing the way rational agents behave strategically to meet their goals. Dejan Milutinovic, professor of electrical and computer engineering at UC Santa Cruz, has long worked with colleagues on the complex subset of game theory called differential games, which have to do with game players in motion. One of these games is called the wall pursuit game, a relatively simple model for a situation in which a faster pursuer has the goal to catch a slower evader who is confined to moving along a wall. Since this game was first described nearly 60 years ago, there has been a dilemma within the game a set of positions where it was thought that no game optimal solution existed. But now, Milutinovic and his colleagues have proved in a new paper published in the journal IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control that this long-standing dilemma does not...

January 6 Was Not a Revolution Dissident Voice

Even a broken clock is correct twice a day.

Likewise, an incompetent, historically ignorant, politically naive, diplomatically challenged, shallow, impulsive, narcissistic reality show host elected by a conned citizenry to the highest office in the land can occasionally get a few things right as well.

I wont get into a spitting contest over whether the election was rigged to an extent necessary to steal it from Trump. Every election is rigged, to varying degrees. To deny that is to be out of touch with how fundamentally corrupt our electoral system is at all levels, and what an abysmal state our last-gasp democracy is in. Recall that on one occasion, election rigging wasnt up to the task, so a president was elected by judicial fiat.

Nor will I come anywhere near Trumps motives or level of involvement in the shambolic insurrection that took place on January 6.

The important thing he got right was this: We should throw every last bum out of our legislative branch, both House and Senate. I didnt say assassinate or torture them, although a good case could be made for disappearing the entire lot for good! And for the good of the nation. At least barring them from public life. I include everyone, even Sanders, AOC, the rest of the squad, all of the virtue-signaling mannikins now in Congress who spend more time raising money for their reelection campaigns and their corrupt corporate-oligarchy political parties, than taking care of the business of governing and caring for the people.

A clean sweep.

A fresh start.

Yes, there have been a few promising initiatives. But overall, there is no evidence that any of the people in power, and I also include Biden, Harris, and just about everyone in the collection of self-serving mediocrities which populate this and past administrations, know or care the first thing about serving everyday citizens and promoting the general welfare.

Im sure Ill get a barrage of comments defending these lacklustre sock puppets of the ruling elite. Let me just recommend in advance: Im not talking about measuring these phonies by the vapid standards weve become accustomed to. The bar h...

Judge Denies Requests from Jan. 6 Defendants to Cross-Examine FBI Agent on Leaked Messages CLG News

Judge Denies Requests from Jan. 6 Defendants to Cross-Examine FBI Agent on Leaked Messages | 14 March 2023 | Defendants in the ongoing Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Breach trial suffered a defeat on Monday, as the court ordered that the defendants may not cross-examine an FBI agent for most of the defense attorneys' allegations that spawned from internal FBI messages inadvertently leaked in court. Judge Timothy Kelly, a Trump-appointed judge, on Monday addressed allegations made by attorneys of the Jan. 6 defendants that targeted leaked internal FBI messages, which were revealed in court when Nick Smith, a defense attorney representing Ethan Nordean, cross-examined FBI Special Agent Nicole Miller on Thursday last week. The judge denied all but one of the defendant's arguments about the leaked messages... The messages include a directive from FBI personnel to Miller to "destroy" 338 pieces of evidence and another directive to Miller to "edit out" an FBI agent from a Confidential Human Source (CHS) informant report, the filing read.

BEST OF THE WEB: France enters stage 2 of its multi-nation war games - troops staging mock battles on real city streets & amongst civilians in ominous urban warfare training scenario Signs of the Times

In what was truly a bizarre scene, soldiers belonging to the British Army's Brigade of Gurkhas filled the populated streets of Cahors in southern France. The sound of blank ammunition rounds being fired off echoed down bustling avenues as locals casually strolled by and life went on seemingly as normal as the mock battle unfolded around them. While it looked like a war was being fought in Cahors, what was really happening was a hyper-realistic training scenario that was part of a much larger set of multi-national exercises that are ongoing in France. While this may be the most realistic military operations in urban terrain (MOUT) training we have ever seen based on the very un-canned setting, it serves as another reminder that militaries are racing to ready themselves for fighting in huge cities with all their unique impediments and tactical opportunities which, according to the Pentagon, is where future wars are likely to take place.

San Francisco considers reparations proposal to give $5 million per black person CLG News

San Francisco considers reparations proposal to give $5 million per black person --Progressive city's Board of Supervisors meeting to debate reparations recommendations despite backlash | 14 March 2023 | The Board of Supervisors can vote to adopt all, none, or some of the committee's recommendations and even change them. Tuesday's hearing was originally scheduled for last month but was postponed. An estimated 50,000 black people live in San Francisco, but it's unclear who among them would be eligible for reparations. Under the committee's draft reparations plan, a person must be at least 18 years old and identified as "Black/African American" in public documents for at least 10 years. Eligible people must also meet two of eight other criteria, such as living in San Francisco during a certain time period or descending from someone incarcerated for the police war on drugs [?]. Regardless of what the criteria might ultimately become, several board members have expressed concerns about how large lump-sum payments would impact the city's budget, which is already facing a massive estimated deficit of $728 million.

The middle kingdom makes a point about the mediocrity of the exceptionalist Signs of the Times

If China's journalists, foreign intelligence analysts, and People's Navy staff have needed an opportunity to demonstrate, if not to the Middle Kingdom audience, then to the US exceptionalist public how peripheral and how mediocre American legends have become, Seymour Hersh has provided it in an interview he recorded with China's state broadcaster CGTN on Saturday. For the first time since Hersh's earlier interviews with American, British, German, and Russian reporters, Hersh faced skepticism and cross-examination of the account he published on February 8 of what he claimed then, and insists still, was a joint US and Norwegian operation to destroy the Nord Stream gas pipelines on September 26, 2022. According to Hersh, the operation was directed by the White House and ordered by President Joseph Biden, with the reluctant support of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). In his 28-minute interview with Liu Xin, Hersh repeats his original claims; makes fresh mistakes of fact;...

Matt Hancock was never a policy maker - he was a fanatic Signs of the Times

The Lockdown Files have shown it was a complete lack of leadership that led to the unprecedented historical step of shutting down the UK... The 19th-century sage William Hazlitt once observed that those who love liberty love their fellow men, while those who love power love only themselves. Matt Hancock says that he has been betrayed by the leaking of his WhatsApp messages. But few people will have any sympathy for him. He glutted on power and too obviously loved himself. Some things can be said in his favour. The Lockdown Files are not a complete record. No doubt there were also phone calls, Zoom meetings, civil service memos and the like, in which the thoughts of ministers and officials may have been more fully laid out. Not all the accusations levelled against him are fair. Care homes, for example, were probably an insoluble problem, given the absence of other places for many elderly patients to go, and the scarcity of testing materials in the early stages of the pandemic....

China warns neighbor against 'bringing wolves into the house' Signs of the Times

Strengthening military ties with the US will bind the Philippines to a "chariot of geopolitical strife," Beijing has claimed... The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Sunday cautioned the Philippines against strengthening military cooperation with the US, saying it will be used to serve Washington's geopolitical agenda to the detriment of Manila's own security. The latest warning from the Chinese embassy in Manila cited Philippines' President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s decision last month to give US troops access to four additional military bases in the Southeast Asian country. "Such cooperation will pull the Philippines against China and tie the country to the chariot of geopolitical strife, seriously jeopardizing Philippine national interests and regional peace and stability." The Chinese embassy urged the Marcos administration to avoid getting sucked into US efforts to maintain global hegemony. "We should abandon the perverse path of sowing dissension and causing trouble, not to mention...

Democratic leaders want the party to stop its Kamala Harris pile-on ahead of 2024 Signs of the Times

Elizabeth Warren has called twice to apologize. Over a month later, Kamala Harris hasn't called back. In a local Boston radio interview in late January, Warren was enthusiastic about President Joe Biden running for reelection but, asked if Biden should keep Harris as his running mate, she said, "I really want to defer to what makes Biden comfortable on his team." The incident and its aftermath, different details of which were described to CNN by multiple people close to the Massachusetts senator and people close to the vice president, has fed an ongoing breakdown of accusations and purported misunderstandings. "Pretty insulting," is how one person close to Harris described the feelings of many in the vice president's office and in her wider orbit. Several people close to Warren said the senator was calling to explain her statement as purely a mistake - a fumbling, unintentional attempt to avoid stepping on a campaign announcement from the president. A spokesperson for Warren...

Hungary to delay vote on NATO membership for Sweden, Finland Signs of the Times

A long-delayed vote in Hungary's parliament on ratifying the NATO accession bids of Sweden and Finland will likely be postponed again following a proposal from a senior government official. In a letter published Tuesday by Hungarian news website hvg.hu, Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjen requested that a parliamentary session scheduled to begin on March 20 during which lawmakers were expected to vote on the two Nordic countries joining the military alliance be postponed to a week later. Semjen cited Hungary's ongoing negotiations with the European Union's executive branch over Budapest's alleged breaches of the bloc's rule-of-law requirements as the reason for the delay. The speaker of Hungary's parliament, himself a member of Semjen's ruling coalition, must approve the request for a postponement. Hungary remains the only NATO member country besides Turkey that hasn't yet approved the two Nordic countries' bids to join the Western military alliance. The delay is the second...

Happy Pi Day Armstrong Economics

Caesars Wife begged him not to go to the Senate in the morning. She had her vision of his death. Decimus dined with Caesar the night before his assassination and convinced Caesar to leave his house the next morning for staying home because his wife, Calpurnia, was worried was unmanly.

That fateful day set in motion the collapse of the Republic, the launch of a civil war, and eventually the birth of Imperial Rome 13 years later when the Senate granted the title to Octavian Augustus after defeating Mark Antony and Cleopatra who used Antony for her proxy war to conquer Rome.

Pi seems to have been the critical turning point in Roman History that Brutus even bragged on his coinage that he killed Caesar on the Ides of (15th) March, 44 BC (EID MAR).

How the China-brokered Saudi-Iran deal will change the Middle East Signs of the Times

Last week, Saudi Arabia and Iran announced a landmark deal, brokered by China in Beijing, to formally restore diplomatic relations. The agreement saw the two sectarian arch rivals in the Middle East agree to put aside their differences and to normalize ties. It was the first ever deal of its kind overseen by China, framing itself as a peacemaker, and showing that its commitment to have good relations with every country in the region is not just based on rhetoric but actual substance. Some have described it as a sign of a "changing global order." To put it mildly, it is bad news for the United States and deals a massive blow to the near-unlimited geopolitical sway Washington has long held over the region via its strategic relationships with countries such as Saudi Arabia. Additionally, it effectively ruins a US led campaign to pressurize and isolate Iran and hinders American efforts to shape regional politics in Israel's favor via the Abraham Accords. It is no surprise that the...

Millennials are more likely than other generations to support a cap on personal wealth Fast Company

According to a new Fast Company-Harris Poll, most Americans would not support a cap on someones net worth, but one generation was more open to the idea.

The West thought it would destroy Russia's economy with 'sanctions from hell,' here's why the plan failed Signs of the Times

"Every cloud has a silver lining," is a familiar line of reassurance, and Russian President Vladimir Putin reached for it, recently, as he commented on the slew of sanctions imposed on Moscow by the West and its allies in recent years. They are "a powerful step towards greater economic and financial sovereignty, which is crucial," he ventured. Moscow has long been accustomed to sanctions pressure, going back to the Soviet days, and the EU and US began to announce new waves of restrictions from 2014. However, that pressure reached a whole new level last year after Putin launched the military campaign in Ukraine, making Russia the most sanctioned country in the world, ahead of Iran. Moscow has been slapped with ten sanctions packages, from Brussels alone, since February of last year.

Disconnection from international finance systems has turned out to be "a blessing in disguise" for Moscow, Dmitry Peskov said The Russian financial sector is practically immune to the effects of the unfolding US banking crisis largely thanks to Western sanctions, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday. When asked about a spillover effect from the collapse of US lenders, which has led to a global stock rout, Peskov said problems in the American banking system cannot affect Russia in any way. "Our banking system, of course, has, let's say, certain connections with some segments of the international financial system, but for the most part it is under illegal restrictions," he said.

15 Subtle Signs of Depression You Could Be Missing Awareness Act

Depression is a serious mental illness that affects millions of people worldwide. Unfortunately, many people with concealed depression suffer in silence, battling their demons alone and avoiding burdening their loved ones. As human beings, we all experience wounds in life, but most of us tend to bottle things up and attempt to heal ourselves without realizing the extent of our wounds.

Concealed depression is not always easy to spot, and if youre struggling, it can be difficult to know where to turn for help. Fortunately, recognizing the habits and behaviors associated with concealed depression can be the first step in seeking support.

  1. The Talented and Expressive

Many famous people who have suffered from mental illnesses have used their struggles to channel deeper emotions into their works. This is often the case with people who have concealed depression. Their struggles are reflected in their creativity and talent, and they are able to bring something beautiful out of the darkness that consumes them.

  1. The Search for Purpose

Everyone needs a purpose in life, and people with concealed depression are no exception. However, they are often more susceptible to feelings of inadequacy and anxiety, leaving them searching for something they may never achieve in their own minds.

  1. The Muted Cries for Help

Sometimes, people with concealed depression may make cries for help that go unnoticed or dismissed by those around them. Its important to pay attention to these cries and offer support and understanding when possible.

People with depression often contemplate their own mortality during moments of despair and seek answers to lifes deepest questions. While not all people with depression experience suicidal thoughts, some do.

  1. They Have Unusual Eating Habits

Defending Ukraine not a vital US interest - DeSantis Signs of the Times

Becoming increasingly involved in the military confrontation between Ukraine and Russia is not a priority for the US, Florida's Republican governor Ron DeSantis wrote in response to a question posed by Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Monday. Carlson asked several "2024 GOP hopefuls" whether opposing Russia in Ukraine was a "vital strategic interest" for the US and shared DeSantis' response on Twitter. The governor stated that the US had many "vital national interests," such as securing its borders, addressing the recruitment crisis within the US military, achieving energy security and independence, and "checking the economic, cultural, and military power of the Chinese Communist Party." However, becoming "further entangled in a territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia is not one of them," DeSantis noted.

Planned Parenthoods Dawn Laguens says companies need to do more in the fight for abortion rights Fast Company

Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Central Bank Digital Currency Is The Endgame - Part II Signs of the Times

In Part 1 we noted that "money" is no more than a medium of exchange. If we cooperate in sufficient numbers, we could create an economy based upon an entirely voluntary monetary system. We don't need banks to control our exchange transactions and modern Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) has made voluntary exchange on a global scale entirely feasible. We contrasted the true nature of "money" with the proposed Central Bank Digital Currencies. CBDC is being rolled out across the world by a global public-private partnership . What we call money is actually fiat currency conjured out of thin air by central and commercial banks. Even so, CBDC is nothing like "money" as we currently understand it. Prior to the pseudopandemic, fiat currency circulated in a split-monetary circuit. Only commercial banks could access a type of money called "central bank reserves" or "base money." In late 2019, the global financial institution BlackRock introduced a monetary plan that advocated "going...

Dare Call It A Coup? CIA Front Threatens Color Revolution in Georgia MintPress News

In the second week of March, thousands took to the streets of Tbilisi, Georgia, to vent their fiery indignation over a draft law requiring any NGO operating in the country that receives over 20% of its revenue from overseas to register as a foreign agent.

Violently clashing with police, daubing anti-Russian graffiti on virtually every available vertical surface, chanting mutinous, belligerent slogans, and prominently displaying the flags of the European Union, Georgia, and Ukraine, these widely-reported scenes were complemented by a never-ending soundtrack of hostile commentary from E.U. and U.S. officials.

Calling upon Georgian parliamentarians to drop the proposal, notorious war hawk and USAID chief Samantha Power inexplicably proclaimed that the new law gravely threatens Georgias Euro-Atlantic future and the ability of Georgians to fulfill their own economic, social, and other aspirations.

U.S. State Department spokesperson Ned Price menacingly warned any Georgian MP who dared vote for the foreign agent law, they would be personally responsible for potentially jeopardizing Tbilisis Euro-Atlantic future. He went on to declare the legislation was not consistent with the future [Georgians] have set out for themselves, and the future that we, as the U.S., are determined to continue to be a partner to help them achieve.

Washington vehemently opposing the foreign agent law is unsurprising. Thousands of organizations, including media outlets and rights groups in Georgia, have received funding from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and U.S. Agency for International Development which Power now incidentally leads over the past three decades. Any reform that would further expose this hardly hidden but little acknowledged or understood fact might raise difficult questions about the independence of these entities and the si...

The Untainted Eyes of the Unschooled Dissident Voice

One year in Italy with their eyes open would be worth more than three at Oxford; and six months in the fields with a platyscopic lens would teach them strange things about the world around them that all the long terms at Harrow and Winchester have failed to discover to them. But that would involve some trouble to the teacher.

What a misfortune it is that we should thus be compelled to let our boys schooling interfere with their education!

The Cell Phone Is a Pair of Red High Heels Dissident Voice

It is comical how easily one can be ignored for pointing out that new technology is dangerous and fetishistic. So-called smart cell phones are a prime example.  For years I have been pointing out their dangers on many levels. To say most people are devoted to them is an understatement. Maybe it is an exaggeration to say they revere them, but if asked, they will say they couldnt live without them. Its sort of like saying I dont revere my partner but couldnt live without her or him. Ah love!

But whats love got to do with it? Love and romance are out of date. Sex is a just a quick fill-in when theres a break in the technological action. Creative and erotic energy is pissed away on trivia. Being lost and confused and having no time is in. But only the latter can be admitted.

Busy busy busy! Beep beep beep as the eyes go down to the screens. Thumbs athumbing or voices talking to the gadgets, while the busy beavers forget who is under whose thumbs.

Eros is replaced by Chaos while Aphrodite weeps in the woods, but no one hears.

Pass the remote. The silence stings.

We are children of Greece but we forget its truths in our time of digital dementia, if we ever knew them. Beauty is banished for ugliness and technology is worshipped as a god. Art has become meaningless unless its falsely connected to celebrities and entertainment culture. There are no limits; everything is permitted. Hubris reigns.  Even the thought that Digital IDs, Central Bank Digital Currencies, and vaccination passports are on the agenda does not dissuade the lovers. Its a game of control abetted by radical stupidity, and it is not a mistake, as Dylan, contrary to his public posturing and corporate imaging, lets his artists soul sing:

There are no mistakes in life some people say
It is true sometimes you can see it that way
But people dont live or die, people just float

Floating in a void of gibberish and double-talk, heads barely above the water, alienated from reality while fixated on the Spectacle, while sometimes when panicky looking for a life preserver but never to the right source, this is where technology and capitalism  have taken us.  On any issue the bombing of the Nord Stream pipelines, the facts about the U. S. proxy-war against Russia in Ukraine, Covid-19, the economy, etc.  the mainstream media daily pumps out contradictory stories to confuse the public whose attention span has been reduced to a scrolling few seconds.  Sustained attention and the ability to dissect the endless propaganda is a thing of the past and receding faster than the computer jargon of milliseconds and nanoseconds.  Planned chaos is the proper name for the daily news reports.

Fetishism, in all its forms, rules.

What else is the cell phone but a pair of red high heels?

What else are all those phone photos millions are constantly taking as they antique reality to store in their...

Protest at the White House, March 18, Against US Proxy War in Ukraine Dissident Voice

On March 18, protesters will gather at the White House to call for an end to Joe Bidens cruel proxy war. Cruel is the operative word, because the war cynically uses Ukrainians as cannon fodder to weaken Russia and bring about regime change.

We should all be there or at one of the 5 sister demonstrations in other cities listed here.

The March 18 Rally is organized by a variety of progressive organizations, including ANSWER Coalition, Black Alliance for Peace, Code Pink , The Peoples Forum and UNAC (United National Antiwar Coalition). (A more complete list may be found here.)

Only a month ago on February 19, the first national demonstration to oppose the US proxy against Russia in Ukraine broke the ice and drew thousands to Washington under the banner of Rage Against the War Machine. It was organized by the leftist Peoples Party and the Libertarian Party to organize an anti-interventionist movement across the entire political spectrum. Continuing its effort for the broadest possible antiwar movement, Rage Against the War Machine has also called for joining the March 18 demonstration. Everyone in; nobody out!

The broad array of social forces represented by these two rallies is breathtaking. They reflect the growing dissatisfaction with the US proxy war, the fear of its careening out of control into a nuclear Armageddon and a dissatisfaction with squandering well over $100 billion in the cruel killing fields of Ukraine. This growing antiwar sentiment is also showing up in polling. (See below.) Potentially the power of this antiwar movement and the popular sentiment it represents is enormous, holding out the promise of actually stopping this war.

The Demands

The demands of the March 18 rally as listed by ANSWER and CodePink are:

  • Peace in Ukraine Negotiations not escalation!
  • Abolish NATO End U.S. militarism & sanctions on Syria, Cuba, Zimbabwe, Venezuela, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Iran and many other nations
  • Fund peoples needs, not the war machine!
  • No war with China!
  • End U.S. aid to racist apartheid Israel!
  • Fight racism & bigotry at home, not other...

Why Would Anyone Ever Assume Were Not Being Manipulated 24/7? Dissident Voice

So many people I know get very defensive when I discuss the plandemic machinations. They either can not accept that manipulation is the standard operating procedure for those in charge or that they would ever be gullible enough to be tricked on a regular basis.

Thats when I tell them about the Gruen Transfer.

Victor Gruen was an Austrian architect who loved the cafes and public squares of Vienna. Upon starting work in the U.S., Gruen was responsible for something that came to be known as the Gruen Transfer (or Gruen Effect). As he aimed to re-create environments from his youth, he ended up inspiring a very insidious reality.

The Gruen Transfer manipulates people into losing track of...

'Strange metals' operate outside normal rules of electricity Signs of the Times

UC physicist explores mysteries of strange metals. International team finds unusual electrical behavior in experiments. Physicists at the University of Cincinnati are learning more about the bizarre behavior of "strange metals," which operate outside the normal rules of electricity. Theoretical physicist Yashar Komijani, an assistant professor in UC's College of Arts and Sciences, contributed to an international experiment using a strange metal made from an alloy of ytterbium, a rare earth metal. Physicists in a lab in Hyogo, Japan, fired radioactive gamma rays at the strange metal to observe its unusual electrical behavior. Led by Hisao Kobayashi with the University of Hyogo and RIKEN, the study was published in the journal Science. The experiment revealed unusual fluctuations in the strange metal's electrical charge. "The idea is that in a metal, you have a sea of electrons moving in the background on a lattice of ions," Komijani said. "But a marvelous thing happens with quantum...

Police Accountability & Reinventing Policing, with Stephen Janis and Taya Graham MintPress News

Today, Lee Camp, the host of Behind the Headlines, speaks with two journalists, Taya Graham and Stephen Janis, about their ongoing show, The Police Accountability Report. Running for four years, the show is focused on shining a light on police misdeeds. Although based in Baltimore, it covers law enforcement abuse across the country. The journalists, who between them have been covering the subject for two decades, share their experiences reporting on police brutality, corruption, and the need for police reform.

Despite the lack of coverage in the corporate press, Taya notes that there is a whole subculture of cop watchers and auditors who film the police and test their first amendment rights in a public space. She grew up in Baltimore, a majority-black city, and was no stranger to police brutality. However, in her younger days, she assumed it was largely a local problem. Yet as they expanded their coverage, it became clear that this is a systemic issue across the entire United States.

Stephen adds that police corruption is a reflection of the values of the community it serves. He believes that policing only reflects the people who have the power, money, and capital to impose it on underprivileged communities. He says that when they talk about police corruption, they are really talking about the corruption of inequality in a community desiring to police itself. Stephen believes that the underlying conditions in the community the police serve do not change, and that is why police brutality is prevalent across the country.

The interview sheds light on the ongoing problem of police abuse and the need for police reform. Taya and Stephens show, The Police Accountability Report, is an important step towards taking law enforcement to task for their actions. The lack of interest from the likes of Fox News and CNN in truly scrutinizing the power of the police means Stephen and Tayas work is all the more important.

Silicon Valley Bank crisis: The liquidity crunch we predicted has now begun and the FED is largely to blame Signs of the Times

There has been an avalanche of information and numerous theories circulating the past few days about the fate of a bank in California know as SVB (Silicon Valley Bank). SVB was the 16th largest bank in the US until it abruptly failed and went into insolvency on March 10th. The impetus for the collapse of the bank is tied to a $2 billion liquidity loss on bond sales which caused the institution's stock value to plummet over 60%, triggering a bank run by customers fearful of losing some or most of their deposits. There are many fine articles out there covering the details of the SVB situation, but what I want to talk about more is the root of it all. The bank's shortfalls are not really the cause of the crisis, they are a symptom of a wider liquidity drought that I predicted here at Alt-Market months ago, including the timing of the event. First, though, let's discuss the core issue, which is fiscal tightening and the Federal Reserve. In my article 'The Fed's Catch-22 Taper Is A...

As New York Weighs Library Cuts, Three New Branches Show Their Value

Facing a giant budget deficit, Mayor Eric Adams proposed cuts to New York libraries. But they play an outsize role in the city, offering services and safety.

Adults and children gather in a well-lit childrens room in a library that is filled with bookshelves. One child sits on a color-blocked rug, drawing.

A city is only as good as its public spaces. The Covid-19 pandemic was another reminder: For quarantined New Yorkers, parks, outdoor dining sheds and reopened libraries became lifelines.

But now Mayor Eric Adams wants to slash funds for parks (...

Odesa and World Heritage Politics The Duck of Minerva

The Convention Concerning the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage  (The World Heritage Convention) entered into force in 1975. The world heritage regime, in effect, produces the shared heritage of humanity. States use their right, as set by the Convention, to nominate sites within their borders; the files accompanying the nomination make the case for the sites outstanding universal value. The relevant Advisory Bodyfor cultural heritage sites, the International Council of Museums and Sites (ICOMOS) evaluates the site and its file. The intergovernmental World Heritage Committee, composed of twenty-one rotating members, discusses the site, the file, and the ICOMOS recommendation during its annual meeting; it makes the final decision on additions to the World Heritage List.

The Convention requires the World Heritage Committee to meet annually to take the regimes implementing decisions. The Russian Federation was supposed to host last years meeting during June. But Russias war on Ukraine led to strong pressures for a change in location; in the end, the session was indefinitely postponed.

In October 2022, Ukrainian President Zelensky officially nominated the Historic Centre of Odesa for inscription on the World Heritage List. He did so under the emergency procedure for sites facing immediate danger. Thus, if the nomination succeeded Odesa would also be placed on the List of World Heritage in Danger, which designates sites for which major operations are necessary and for which assistance has been requested under the Convention.

To fulfill its obligations under the Convention, the Committee held an extraordinary session at UNESCOs Paris headquarters in December 2022. During this meeting, the Committee decided to convene a second extraordinary session in January 2023.

The agenda for the January 2023 meeting had three substantive items; the third item read any other matter. Italy, Belgium, Japan, Greece and Bulgaria advanced Odesas nomination by placing the evaluation of nominations to be processed on an emergency basis under that third item.

The Russian Federation responded with a series of procedural moves aimed at preventing the nomination from moving forward. The debate grew heated enough for the Saudi Arabian chair of the meeting to make m...

In 2015, Balkan route became a buzzword for war refugees predominantly from Syria who set out on the deadly path to Fortress Europe. The Visegrd group made up of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia was only marginally affected, but it was in these states that perhaps the most vocal representatives of an anti-migrant stance could be found.

Silicon Valley Bank, the second-largest U.S. bank to collapse, had recently been putting effort into multiple LGBTQ diversity programs, including a "safe space," just before the institution folded. As reported by the New York Post, the company spent money on a month-long LGBTQ pride campaign and a new online resource for LGBTQ youth spearheaded by Jay Ersapah, head of Financial Risk Management at the bank's UK branch. "As a queer person of color and a first-generation immigrant from a working-class background, there were not many role models for me to 'see' growing up," said Ersapah of the diversity and inclusion initiatives. Comment: This is definitely where you want the focus to be for your bank.

Heavily Criticised Pro-lockdown Paper Cited Far More Than Anti-lockdown Papers Signs of the Times

Formal scientific institutions took a battering during the pandemic, and deservedly so. From the wildly inaccurate predictions of SAGE modellers to the denial of natural immunity by signatories of the John Snow Memorandum, 'Science' (uppercase 's') has not had a good three years. A particularly striking illustration of this is citation patterns in the scientific literature. If things were working well, the best studies would get cited the most. Unfortunately, that appears not to be the case: citations have flowed disproportionately to studies that uphold The Narrative. In June, 2020, researchers from Imperial College London (including our old friend Neil Ferguson) published a paper in the prestigious journal Nature titled 'Estimating the effects of non-pharmaceutical interventions on COVID-19 in Europe'. They concluded - on the basis of a complex model-fitting exercise - that lockdowns had saved the lives of 3.1 million people across 11 European countries. That's right, 3.1 million...

'We were wrong': Pioneer in child gender dysphoria treatment says trans medical industry is harming kids Signs of the Times

Dr. Susan Bradley, a Canadian psychiatrist and pioneer in child gender dysphoria treatment, came out against the popular model of affirming children's transgender identities and putting them on puberty blockers a practice she was once involved in in an interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation. Bradley started a pediatric gender clinic in 1975 aimed at treating children with gender dysphoria a deep sense of discomfort with one's body and biological sex in which she offered a therapy-focused approach; most patients outgrew their feelings of being transgender over time, she told the DCNF. Around 2000, the clinic began prescribing puberty blockers to gender-dysphoric children as a way to alleviate their distress, a model which has since become widely adopted by medical establishments around the world, including in the U.S. Bradley, who is now in her early eighties, expressed regret that the clinic had participated in the administration of puberty blockers for gender...

mRNA vaccine contamination much worse than thought: Jabs "up to 35%" DNA that turns human cells into long-term spike protein factories Signs of the Times

The contamination of mRNA vaccines with DNA is far greater than initially thought at up to 35%, and the DNA's role in inducing human cells to produce the spike protein long term has been confirmed, according to the latest research. Earlier this month, the Daily Sceptic reported on the work of Dr. Kevin McKernan and his team who had subjected the mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna to deep sequencing analysis and found alarming levels of DNA contaminants known as plasmids. These are small circular DNA molecules that in principle can self-replicate in bacterial and human cells and induce the cell to produce the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein long term. Each vaccine dose was found to contain billions of these plasmids. The Moderna vaccine appeared to contain DNA contamination at around the 'safe' level set by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) at the equivalent of one part per 3,000 mRNA molecules, though it's not clear how safe this level really is. The Pfizer vaccine, on the other...

Rolex Prices to Drop Further as Supply Surges Terra Forming Terra

We are talking about the pre owned models here as the makers can control the new supply.  The second hand market is not deep enough.

There are still plenty of pools of cash out there and it strikes me that securing an inventory is a handy way of protecting cash.  So a heavy uptick in new buys could flood the market with used product.

Can you imagine what the value of a container of used rolexs might be?  It is still a lot with a usuable fifty percent discount..

Room-Temperature Superconductor Discovery Meets With Resistance Terra Forming Terra

Every single discovery of a long sought research target recieves the same nonsense from even informed folk because thhey simply cannot know yet.  These are experts and have been also bit.  I do not see them getting it wrong.

Now turning all this into useful tools will come along quickly, simply because we are in the temperature sweet spot and can eschew a massive infrastructure build.

This is also good news.

Room-Temperature Superconductor Discovery Meets With Resistance

A paper in Nature reports the discovery of a superconductor that operates at room temperatures and near-room pressures. The claim has divided the research community.

One hallmark of superconductivity is the Meissner effect, which expels all magnetic fields from a material a property that allows a superconductor to levitate, as seen here. The researchers claim to observe the Meissner effect in their new material.

Thousands Evacuated After Levee Breached in California - Officials CLG News

Thousands Evacuated After Levee Breached in California - Officials | 13 March 2023 | Thousands of residents were forced to evacuate in a Northern California community after a levee broke on Saturday amid yet another round of heavy rainfall to impact the Golden State, officials said. A levee on the Pajaro River broke about three miles east of Pajaro, near the city of Watsonville, officials told local media, adding that the rivers levee failed at around midnight. Photos and aerial video footage showed homes, businesses, schools, and cars flooded with several feet of water. "My heart hurts tonight for the residents of Pajaro. We were hoping to avoid and prevent this situation, but the worst case scenario has arrived with the Pajaro River overtopping and levee breaching at about midnight," Luis Alejo, chair of the Monterey County Board of Supervisors, wrote in a Twitter post.

The Ukraine People Must Overthrow Zelensky to Save Their Country Armstrong Economics

This is the former adviser to Zelensky, Alexey Arestovich, who quit in protest. He has publicly stated that The west deceived Russia. They promised not to push NATO to the east, and they did. They turned Ukraine into a huge anti-Russian country. If I was in Russias shoes, I would have done the exact same thing.

The Wests Neocons have exploited Ukraine to wage war against Russia, for the sole reason they hated Russia, and even with the fall of the USSR, they have never changed their views. They tried to stop Reagan from meeting Gorbachev. I found myself back in 1999 to seize control of Russia by having the bankers, led by Edmond Safra, blackmail Yeltsin to step down and hand Russia to the boy, Boris Berezovsky. They tried to get me to invest $10 billion into their Hermitage Capital Management. When I refused, even Boris tried to call me to persuade me to contribute to their cause. When I refused, Edmond stole $1 billion I had on deposit at his bank and the NY press supported the Neocons, as always.

Ironically, they began their manipulation of Ukraine in 2014. It was the Neocons, not the CIA with this plot. John McCain was there meeting even with the Neo-Nazis in public and promising the crowd that America will stand with them if they overthrow their government Regime Change has always been their agenda. It has NEVER worked out even once Vietnam, Iraq, Syria, Cuba, and Ukraine just to mention a few.

Toxic Currencies Good for the Yuan Armstrong Economics

The Chinese yuan has out-traded the US dollar by volume for one of the first times in recent Russian history. The dollar was king in 1991 when the Soviet Union collapsed, but that is no longer the case after Moscow branded the dollar a toxic currency along with the euro. Toxic currencies accounted for 87% of exports from Russia at the beginning of 2022, but this figure fell to 48% by the start of the new year. The Bank of Russia has reported that the proportion of USD/ruble pair in exchange fell to only 36% in February. The central bank is calling this a broad structural transformation of the Russian economy.

As unfriendly countries and their toxic currencies band together, those on the outskirts are winning. China has become the new go-to country for new trade partnerships as it bypasses Western-imposed sanctions. Toxic currencies represented 46% of imports in December 2022 but were at 65% in January 2022 before the war. In contrast, the yuans share rose from 4% to 23% during that time.

Where to Go? Armstrong Economics

A lot of people have been asking where to go, what bank is safe, and whats next? This is by no means over. The fiscal mismanagement is off the charts and we have a major clash with the Marxist views of the Democrats who always want to punish the rich and then ask them for funding. Only in the Democratic Party can you have a $ 10,000-a-plate fundraiser and preach how evil inequality is and that the rich must be held accountable.

Those who keep calling for a gold standard are clueless. To have a return to balanced budgets means that the Democrats will have to completely reform. They DO NOT know how to govern without class warfare. Politics has deeply divided the United States to the point that the only reasonable solution will be to separate between the blue v red. As Lincon said, a house divided cannot stand. That is becoming so obvious that there will come a day soon when that will be the case. There are over 30 civilizations that have come before us. Every single one has collapsed. We are merely waiting for our 15 minutes in the spotlight.

Betting all on hegemony; Risking all, to stave off ruin Signs of the Times

Just occasionally, a window is opened onto the truth of how the 'system' works. Momentarily, it stands naked in its degeneracy. We avert our eyes, yet, it is a revelation (though it shouldn't be). For, we see clearly how tawdry has been the attire which clothed it. 'Liberalism's' seeming success - almost wholly an ephemeral PR production - serves only to make its underlying internal contradictions more obvious; more 'in your face' - much less credible. This unravelling speaks to a failure to satisfactorily resolve liberal modernity's inherent contradictions. Or, rather its unravelling derives from the choice to resolve a waning legitimacy, through an ever more totalistic and ideological reaching for hegemony. One such window has been the sordid affair of the UK pandemic lockdowns - as revealed by a paper trail leak of 100,000 ministerial WhatsApp messages, managing the lockdown project. What did they show (in the words here of pro-government leading political commentators)? An ugly...

6 Things People Dont Realize You Are Doing Because Youre The Child Of A Narcissistic Parent Awareness Act

Narcissists are individuals who have a callous disregard for others, a grandiose sense of self, and a major lack of empathy. Due to these traits, the people who get close to them often have to deal with a variety of abuse, and that is especially true for their children.

Children who grew up with a narcissistic parent tend to experience the world differently. You see, through dealing with the narcissist at a young age, the child of a narcissist is often shaped by their parents behaviors. For that reason, they tend to carry themselves differently than others. Here are 6 things people dont realize they are doing because they are the child of a narcissistic parent.

1. Not trusting others.

When you grow up with narcissistic parents, it may be hard to trust others. Our parents are supposed to shape the way that we see the world. However, in the case of a narcissistic parent, they may end up causing you to not feel like you can trust people because your narcissistic parents were not trustworthy.

2. Always second-guessing themselves.

Narcissistic parents can be hypercritical, always following you around, and critiquing everything that you do. It is because of this, that you may begin to second-guess yourself and this can develop into a trait of constantly second-guessing.

3. You are a people-pleaser.

In many cases, the child of a narcissist will take on the role of peacemaker. They will do anything they can to make the narcissist happy enough to not lash out at them. Over time, the child of the narcissist can become a people pleaser.

4. You keep people at a distance.

Our parents set the stage for how we connect with others. When we have a healthy relationship with our parents, we can securely attach ourselves to others as well. However, when your parents are abusive, or narcissistic, you may have a hard time connecting with them and everyone else, too.

5. You pick the wrong partners.

Another trend among those who were raised by narcissistic parents is that they tend to latch on to similar people as their parents, unintentionally. One theory behind this is that the child of the narcissist is always trying to re-try the same situation or dynamic as the one they grew accustomed too subconsciously.

6. You self-deprecate.

When you get used to everyone tearing you down all the time, you will begin to hear their voice as your inner monologue. This can lead to very negative self-talk and even feelings of worthlessness. Most people may not realize this, but the reason you are your own worst enemy is that growing up, your parents raised you to be.

4 Things That Will Change When You Lower Your Voice Awareness Act

Once upon a time, it was pretty normal for parents to use yelling as a primary form of discipline. I know I grew up being yelled at and so did my parents, but thanks to a lot of new research and academic study, we now realize that yelling is a pretty terrible option for raising children.

Some studies have compared the effects of yelling to the effects of corporal punishment. Based on the research, children who are yelled at on a regular tend to be more anxious, and aggressive and struggle with academia. Due to this, its best to nix the yelling and find a more peaceful way to speak with your children.

Here are 4 changes you will notice when you lower your voice.

1. Your children will stop trying to fight you so much.

When you yell at your kids, they may immediately become defensive and agitated. In turn, they are likely to trust you less and buck up against you more often. When you stop yelling, your kids will ease up, because whether you realize it or not, they are taking your lead when you yell.

2. They listen better.

When you stop yelling and start talking, your kids start to listen to you more. Oftentimes, when we start yelling, our kids either get scared or shut us out. Because of this, yelling isnt making you get heard more, you are heard less. When you stop yelling, they start listening better.

3. You feel like a better parent.

I always felt guilty about yelling at my kids. I always walked away feeling like I had made the situation worse and as it turns out, I was making things worse. Now, that I have stopped yelling as much, I feel much better about my parenting.

4. Your whole family dynamic will change.

Your whole family will change when you stop yelling. Its like peace will come over your household. It may seem odd, but when you are always yelling, you are setting the tone for your home.

4 Things You Can Do To Raise Competitive Children Awareness Act

We all want to raise smart, successful, and happy children. Of course, to achieve this, there are many traits you need to encourage in your children and one of those is a healthy sense of competition.

No one wants to raise a sore loser, and you surely do not want to raise someone who is obnoxiously competitive. However, we still want our kids to be competitive because this will ultimately make them more motivated and hell-bent on achieving their goals. If this sounds like something you want for your child, then make sure you are doing these four things.

1. Praise effort, not talent.

Make sure your kids understand that positive outcomes come from hard work and effort. Explain how some of the most successful people and players work hard and practice often. Whenever you notice that effort paying off in your child, make sure you praise their effort.

2. Re-define success.

Make sure your child realizes that to feel accomplished, you do not always have to win. The best athletes and most successful people in the world have a growth mindset and know the aim of the themselves.

3. Learn from the competition.

Instead of making your child jealous or at odds with the competition, encourage them to learn from them. For example, if the other child on the team does better, say, I bet they practiced a whole lot and that helped them. Maybe we could practice more, so you can get there too.

4. Practice at home.

Play games at home and make sure they are kept fair. You can opt for more cooperative games to encourage teamwork and pay attention to how your child reacts when they win or lose. Use this as an opportunity to help them grow.

9 Things I Learned While Everyone Else Was Getting Married Awareness Act

I always had certain expectations for how I wanted my life to turn out, and if I am being honest, the way things are and the way I envisioned them is much different from one another. However, I am not sad about that.

One of the biggest aspirations I had as a young woman was to get married, have a family, and live the American dream. However, life had different plans for me. Instead of getting married, I spent my 20s and early 30s finding myself. There were a lot of things I discovered along the way and many of those lessons made me who I am today. While all of my friends were getting married, I learned the following things.

1. Emotional intelligence is everything.

Once upon a time, I would date just about anyone if they were the right type. However, the more guys I dated, the more I realized I required much more than that. Now, after years of working on my own emotional intelligence, I would NEVER be around a guy who wasnt doing the same.

2. You dont need someone else to make you happy.

You do not NEED a husband or wife to make you happy. If you arent happy with who you are and if you dont know how to meet your own needs, you will be disappointed with every guy that looks at you.

3. Actually, no one else can make you happy and fulfilled but you.

No one has the power to make you happy. It is so unrealistic to look at a person, and expect them to meet all of your needs. You have to know how to do that for yourself.

4. Your type changes constantly.

Over the course of your life, you will change your type. You will have a different type for each era of your life. So, be careful to not assume that your type wont change.

5. Getting your dream career is way more important than getting married.

I used to value the notion of marriage over anything. Now, I am so happy I spent the time and effort on building my career. Had I jumped headfirst into marriage, I would have surely lost myself.

6. Always invest in a good group of friends.

Friends are invaluable, especially good friends. Dont worry about surrounding yourself with a million people. Instead, surround yourself with a good group of people and make sure you invest in keeping those relationships maintained.

7. You have to know yourself before you marry someone else.

I think a lot of people worry about marriage and then later discover themselves. However, if we spent time on understanding ourselves first and then worried about marriages, I would barter that half of the people who end up divorced would be in better standing.

8. You dont need to be married to make things happen.

Another misconception in our society is that if you want a house a family or any of the big things, you have to be married. That simply isnt true. You dont need a husband to have a home. You do not have to be married to decide to have...

Echoes of Maidan: Georgia's huge Western-funded NGO sector and regular outbreaks of violent protest, is there a link? Signs of the Times

What lies behind this week's scenes in Tbilisi and why was Russia again used as a scapegoat? Tbilisi's main street, Rustaveli Avenue, was blocked for several days this week as thousands of people chanted anti-government slogans in front of the parliament building and sang the Georgian national anthem. Even more protesters gathered at the square in the evenings. By nightfall, the enraged crowd was throwing firecrackers, stones, and Molotov cocktails at the police, attempting to take down an iron fence and storm the parliament. The police used water cannons to promptly put out the fires and showered the crowds with water, at the same time spraying tear gas to disperse those present. What led to this violent confrontation is perhaps difficult to understand from the perspective of a Western reader. It wasn't a "civil society" uprising in the sense you might find, for example, in a country like France. Instead, it was organized by people whose livelihoods were threatened by the proposed...

The AUKUS Submarine Announcement Dissident Voice

History is filled with failed planners and plans, threats thought of that did not eventuate, and threats unthought of that found their way into the books. The AUKUS agreement is an attempt to inflate a threat by developing a number of fictional capabilities in an effort to combat an inflated adversary.

The checklist of imminent failure for this security pact between the United States, the UK and Australia is impressive and comically grotesque. In terms of the nuclear-powered submarine component, there are issues of expertise, infrastructure, hurdles of technology transfer, the hobbling feature of domestic politics, and national considerations. There are also matters of irresponsible costs, of the exhaustion of public money best spent elsewhere.

To put it bluntly, Australia and all its resources spanning across a number of industries will be co-opted in this enterprise against a phantom enemy, subjugating an already subordinate state to the US war-making enterprise.

All of this was laid bare at San Diegos Point Loma Naval Base on March 13, where the US imperium, backed up by a number of lickspittles from Australia and the United Kingdom, betrayed the cause of peace and announced to the world that war with China was not only a possibility but distinctly probable.

Central to the project is a staggering outlay of A$368 billion for up to thirteen vessels over three decades. Canberra will purchase at least three US-manufactured nuclear submarines while contributing significant additional resources to US shipyards. (Bully for the US builders.) Given that the United States is unable to make up its own inventory of Virginia class nuclear submarines at this stage, the purchase will be second hand, a point which is bound to niggle members of Congress. Two more vessels are also being thrown in as a possibility, should the need arise.

During this time, design and construction will take place on a new submarine dubbed the SSN-AUKUS, exploiting the work already undertaken by the UK on replacing the Astute-class submarines. It will be, according to the White House, based upon the United Kingdoms next generation SSN design while incorporating cutting edge US submarine technologies, and will be built and deployed by both Australia and the United Kingdom.

This point was also reiterated by the UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak. The Royal Navy will operate the same submarines as the Australian Navy and well share components and parts with the U...

'Humiliating': Germany is not a sovereign nation - Moscow Signs of the Times

Germany is facing an inevitable economic decline after losing its access to Russian energy, but cannot do anything about it because it is not a sovereign nation, the secretary of the Russian National Security Council has claimed. "Germany tried for many years to build its economy on a combination of cheap Russian energy and advanced German technologies. Like no one else, it realizes that the terrorist attack against the [Nord Stream pipelines] will definitely cause the German economy to decline further," Nikolay Patrushev said in an interview published in Argumenti i Fakti newspaper on Monday. The advantages that German businesses enjoyed by getting access to Russian fuel has long irritated the governments of the US and the UK, he continued. But Berlin is not at liberty to continue cooperating with Moscow, "because the German nation is not independent."

Ukrainians give neo-Nazi facelift to signpost in Antarctica Signs of the Times

Ukrainian polar explorers have repainted a signpost at the country's Antarctic station, commemorating the country's "allies," as well as daubing a ceremonial signpost in the red and black colors of the WW2-era Nazi collaborator Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). The makeover was announced by the National Antarctic Scientific Center of Ukraine in a Facebook post on Saturday, with the agency praising the explorers for their "incredible job." The signpost is located at the Akademik Vernadsky polar station, formerly known as Station Faraday before it was transferred to Kiev by the UK in the mid-1990s. The signpost had remained untouched for some 20 years and direly needed to be repaired, the agency explained.

France's First Lady Brigitte Macron loses 'transgender lawsuit' Signs of the Times

Brigitte Macron, the First Lady of France, filed a complaint last year against two women who uploaded a YouTube video titled "Brigitte Macron is a man." The video alleged that Brigitte had a gender reassignment at 18. On Wednesday, the French newspaper Le Point reported that Brigitte's complaint against the two women was "voided" by a Paris Judge. In its decision, consulted by AFP, the court declared void the summons issued by Brigitte Macron for invasion of privacy and image rights, considering that the facts she denounced should have been qualified of public defamation. Brigitte Macron, her brother, and the three children of the First Lady had assigned two women on February 15, 2022, one presenting herself as a "medium," the other as an "independent journalist." They asked the court to condemn these two women to pay them damages for having broadcast on the YouTube channel of the "medium", on December 10, 2021, "a perfectly eccentric thesis" according to which Brigitte Macron,...

Alastair Crooke: EU's Von der Leyen to meet Biden to discuss addressing 'China threat' - be worried! Signs of the Times

In a recent interview, Nicholas Burns, the US Ambassador to China, after labelling China the 'threat', bluntly said: "We're the leader in this [Indo-Pacific] region. [And We're] staying". The interviewer, US Congressman Mike Gallagher, described America's new Cold War as no polite tennis match, but an existential struggle for life in the 21st century. President Xi's earlier attempt to reach a 'new dtente' with the US during the November G20 at Bali -- effectively an attempt to explore whether a minimum modus vivendi with US were possible -- is over. The hysteria over the Chinese balloon; the increasing evidence that Ukraine is descending to a dbacle for the Biden Administration in the Bakhmut area; and the coarse threats of 'consequences' for China were it to support Russia militarily (and at the very moment when Washington was promising more weapons for Taiwan), were too much for Beijing.

Blood Does Not Wash Away Blood Dissident Voice

The extraordinary March 10, 2023 announcement that Chinas top diplomat, Mr. Wang Yi, helped broker a rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and Iran suggests that major powers can benefit from believing that, as Albert Camus once put it, words are more powerful than munitions.

This concept was also acknowledged by General Mark Milley, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff who said on January 20, 2023, that he believes Russias war in Ukraine will conclude with negotiations rather than on the battlefield. In November of 2022, asked about prospects for diplomacy in Ukraine, Milley noted that the early refusal to negotiate in World War One compounded human suffering and led to millions more casualties.

So when theres an opportunity to negotiate, when peace can be achieved seize the moment, Milley told the Economic Club of New York.

Too little, too late: Michigan Governor Whitmer admits COVID-19 lockdowns went too far Signs of the Times

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) admitted on Sunday that her administration's pandemic-era lockdown policies went too far, such as her April 2020 executive order barring most stores from selling gardening supplies, including seeds and plants, to Americans who wanted to grow their own fruits and vegetables. "There were moments where, you know, we had to make some decisions that in retrospect don't make a lot of sense, right? If you went to the hardware store, you could go to the hardware store but we didn't want people to be congregating around the garden supplies," Whitmer told CNN's Chris Wallace. "People said 'oh, she's outlawed seeds.' It was February in Michigan, no one was planting anyway," she continued (except it was in April). "But that being said, some of those policies I look back and think, you know, maybe that was a little more than what we needed to do."

The Looming Quadrillion Dollar Derivatives Tsunami Dissident Voice

On Friday, March 10, Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) collapsed and was taken over by federal regulators. SVB was the 16th largest bank in the country and its bankruptcy was the second largest in U.S. history, following Washington Mutual in 2008. Despite its size, SVB was not a systemically important financial institution (SIFI) as defined in the Dodd-Frank Act, which requires insolvent SIFIs to bail in the money of their creditors to recapitalize themselves.

Technically, the cutoff for SIFIs is $250 billion in assets. However, the reason they are called systemically important is not their asset size but the fact that their failure could bring down the whole financial system. That designation comes chiefly from their exposure to derivatives, the global casino that is so highly interconnected that it is a house of cards. Pull out one card and the whole house collapses. SVB held $27.7 billion in derivatives, no small sum, but it is only .05% of the $55,387 billion ($55.387 trillion) held by JPMorgan, the largest U.S. derivatives bank.

SVB could be the canary in the coal mine foreshadowing the fate of other over-extended banks, but its collapse is not the sort of systemic risk predicted to trigger contagion. As reported by CNN:

Despite initial panic on Wall Street, analysts said SVBs collapse is unlikely to set off the kind of domino effect that gripped the banking industry during the financial crisis.

The system is as well-capitalized and liquid as it has ever been, Moodys chief economist Mark Zandi said. The banks that are now in trouble are much too small to be a meaningful threat to the broader system.

Collapsed Silicon Valley Bank enlisted revolving door lobbyists to push its policy agenda in Washington Original Journalism from OpenSecrets News

March 12-18 is Sunshine Week, an annual celebration aimed at promoting transparency. This story is part of a series highlighting OpenSecrets work to shine a light on key areas related to money in politics at the state and federal level.

Every federal lobbyist that has registered to work on behalf of Silicon Valley Bank, which collapsed Friday in the largest U.S. bank failure since the 2008 financial crisis, swung through the so-called revolving door between the federal government and private sector, a new OpenSecrets analysis of federal lobbying disclosures found.

Silicon Valley Bank first hired federal lobbying firms DLA Piper and Franklin Square Group in 2009. While the bank worked with federal lobbyists at DLA Piper through 2010 and McGuireWoods from 2010 to 2011, Franklin Square Group has been the sole lobbying firm registered on behalf of Silicon Valley Bank since 2011.

All seven of Silicon Valley Banks registered lobbyists in 2022 previously held jobs in the government responsible for overseeing and regulating financial institutions, according to OpenSecrets data, and all are or were partners at Franklin Square Group.

Franklin Square Group has reported receiving more than $1.9 million from Silicon Valley Bank since 2009. Silicon Valley Bank and other big banks ramped up lobbying efforts to weaken banking regulations enacted after the 2008 financial crisis by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act

Making common, golden sense of the next senseless bank crisis Signs of the Times

The latest headlines, of course, are all pointing toward the ripple effect of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), and they should be. This banking metaphor for the tech sector in particular and the previously described disaster in California as a whole or the matter of banking risk as a theme, require understanding and attention, provided below. Once we get past a forensic look at the data and forces which explain SVB's demise, we quickly discover that SVB is itself just a symbol of a much larger financial (and banking) crisis which ties together nearly all of the major macro forces we've been tracking since Powell began his QE to QT quest to be Volcker-reborn. That is, we confirm that everything comes back to the Fed and bond market in general and the UST market in particular. But as I've argued for years, and will say again now: The bond market is the thing. By the end of this brief report, we also discover that SVB is just the beginning; contagion inside and outside of the banking sector...

As casualties mount, why there's a growing backlash against the methods used to conscript Ukrainian men for war Signs of the Times

Ukraine's general mobilization process has become shrouded in scandal as the authorities become increasingly desperate in their hunt for new recruits... Last year, military conscription became an issue in both Russia and Ukraine. However, the extent has been completely different in the two countries. While in Russia the mobilization was partial, lasting barely more than a month and affecting around 300,000 people, according to official figures - a significant part of whom already had military experience - a completely different picture has developed in Ukraine. Kiev instituted a general conscription drive which has been in force for more than a year. The exact number of those taken to the armed forces during this time is not known for certain and the process has been accompanied by numerous scandals. Cases where law enforcement officers have applied force when handing out conscription notices and illegally delivered men to enlistment offices have given rise to public discontent....

China foresees end of Ukraine war this summer: Report Signs of the Times

A fascinating new report in Nikkei Asia has unearthed and detailed the findings of an elite Chinese state-linked think tank which reports directly to the People's Liberation Army. Nikkei in the context of examining the timing and motives behind China's 12-point peace plan said that Chinese military experts are predicting the Russia-Ukraine war will end this summer. To review, the 12-point plan urged implementation of a ceasefire and the resumption of negotiations toward a permanent peaceful settlement, and was unveiled on the one-year Feb.24 anniversary of the war. But the Nikkei report asserts there's specific rationale driving Beijing: The reason for China's sudden change can be traced back to a report issued two months earlier by a top think tank in Beijing. The Academy of Military Sciences [AMS] reports directly to the People's Liberation Army. Although it cannot be found on a map, the institution is located in Beijing's Haidian district, which itself is home to the ruins of...

US progressives and MAGA Republicans joined forces to end the illegal occupation of Syria - but came up short Signs of the Times

On March 8, Representative Matt Gaetz introduced a resolution that would have forced congressional oversight to be applied to the continuation of America's military occupation of Syria. In total, 47 Republicans joined with 56 Democrats - primary members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) - in favor of the legislation. It also had support from Robert Ford, who was the Obama administration's ambassador to Syria and formerly a major hawk in favor of ousting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. "Syria is my leadoff hitter. We're going to take a trip around the globe. We may go to Yemen. We may have stops in Niger. We may have stops in Sudan. Maybe ultimately, we'll end in Ukraine," Gaetz told The Intercept about the bill, implying it would not be the last of its kind in ending American interventionism around the globe. Despite this unexpected bipartisan support, it was still shot down by the overwhelming majority of status quo hawks in Congress, representing a major lost...

Ex-Russian president suggests new name for Ukraine Signs of the Times

Dmitry Medvedev says the country should be called "Bandera-Reich" Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has proposed renaming Ukraine after notorious Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera. His suggestion came after Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky told his government to consider a proposal to change Russia's name. On Friday, Zelensky instructed authorities to "thoroughly study" the proposal to officially rename Russia to 'Moscovia.' He was reacting to an online petition, which argued that the name 'Russia' provided grounds for "further encroachment" on the history of Kievan Rus, a medieval state from which both Russia and Ukraine trace their origin. Many Ukrainian nationalists claim that their homeland is the only true heir of Rus. The name 'Moscovia' dates to the Grand Duchy of Moscow and was historically used by some authors to describe the Russian state. On Saturday, Medvedev, who served as Russian president between 2008 and 2012, and currently serves as deputy chairman of...

Market Talk March 13, 2023 Armstrong Economics

ASIA:

Chinas efforts to ramp up lithium extraction could see it accounting for nearly a third of the worlds supply by the middle of the decade, according to UBS AG. The bank expects Chinese-controlled mines, including projects in Africa, to raise output to 705,000 tons by 2025 from 194,000 tons in 2022. That would lift Chinas share of the mineral critical to electric-vehicle batteries to 32% of global supply, from 24% last year, according to a note on Friday. The race to secure lithium is playing out at the highest levels, with nations, including the US prioritizing access to the materials necessary for making batteries as the world turns away from fossil fuels. Chinas needs are particularly acute because its home to the worlds biggest market for new energy vehicles. The rise in Chinese output will include an increase in material derived from lepidolite, a lithium-bearing rock often overlooked as poor quality and environmentally unsound because of its low yield and high energy costs. UBS sees lepidolite in China accounting for 280,000 tons of lithium in 2025, or 13% of global supply, from 88,000 tons last year, as the government continues to support the sector. Beijing has already moved to curb unlicensed lepidolite extraction in Jiangxi province, a major mining hub, as it seeks to exert more control over its deposits.

FLASHBACK: Reaching for the Mark of the Beast Signs of the Times

Authorities want to require vaccines in order to buy, sell, or trade. Christians are alarmed. Anyone else with a brain should be, too. The new totalitarianism is getting a test run in the wake of COVID-19. Across the globe, every person must submit to "health and safety." So long as officials "can save just one life," any draconian policy is justified. In response, millions of Christians are refusing the 'rona vaccine for fear it's the Mark of the Beast. Their refusal has invited waves of weaponized condescension from dogmatic doctors and Rainbow Xians alike. On September 9, Joe Biden demanded that the entire nation receive the jab young or old, with or without natural immunity. Addressing unvaxxed Americans, the nominal Catholic warned, "We've been patient. But our patience is wearing thin." For many Christians of all races and nationalities, the supposed president's aggressive tone carried the weight of prophecy fulfilled. They see present-day history as manifesting the Bible's...

EU nation arrests politician following Donbass visit Signs of the Times

Estonian authorities announced on Friday that politician Aivo Peterson had been arrested on suspicion of activities against the state, along with two other individuals whose names were not released. The Baltic country's security service detained Peterson in the town of Narva-Joesuu, on the border with Russia. Two Estonian citizens and one Russian national with permanent residence were detained, Security Police spokesman Harrys Puusepp confirmed to local media, identifying only Peterson by name. Puusepp did not offer any details about the charges against them, saying only that the state prosecutors were investigating them for "creating associations against the Estonian Republic." Peterson is a prominent member of Together (known in Estonian as Koos, and in Russian as Vmeste), a leftist political movement advocating the peaceful coexistence of Estonians and Russians. He ran for parliament as a candidate of the Estonian United Left in last week's election. His arrest amounts to...

Dad dresses as Julius Caesar at school board meeting to protest teacher's gender-fluid attire Signs of the Times

A Concord, New Hampshire father, who was banned from occupying an elementary school's property, dressed up as Julius Caesar at a school board meeting on Monday to drive his claims that a public school district is "facilitating gender confusion." Michael Guglielmo said: "I am Caesar. Julius Caesar of Rome, the emperor. I am also a female. Does anybody here believe that? That I am Julius Caesar? Anybody believe that? No, of course not. It's ridiculous." Guglielmo called for the suspension of both Concord School District Superintendent Kathleen Murphy and Christa McAuliffe Elementary School Principal Kristen Gallo for "facilitating gender confusion" by allowing an art teacher who identifies with the LGBTQ community to continue teaching in the elementary school. Guglielmo has been outspoken about the art teacher, Silas Allard, who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, for his decision to wear traditionally female clothing during the school day. He has also criticized Allard's...

Central bank digital currency is the endgame - part 1 Signs of the Times

Central bank digital currency (CBDC) will end human freedom. Don't fall for the assurances of safeguards, the promises of anonymity and of data protection. They are all deceptions and diversions to obscure the malevolent intent behind the global rollout of CBDC. Central Bank Digital Currency is the most comprehensive, far-reaching, authoritarian social control mechanism ever devised. Its "interoperability" will enable the CBDCs issued by various national central banks to be networked to form one, centralised global CBDC surveillance and control system. Should we allow it to prevail, CBDC will deliver the global governance of humanity into the hands of the bankers. CBDC is unlike any kind of "money" with which we are familiar. It is programmable and "smart contracts" can be written into its code to control the terms and conditions of the transaction. Policy decisions and broader policy agendas, restricting our lives as desired, can be enforced using CBDC without any need of...

Are humans becoming an extension of their machines? ChatGPT may have irrevocable consequences for learning and decision-making Signs of the Times

We already rely on digital crutches in numerous aspects of our lives - will we delegate even our essential faculties to AI? Mankind's modern trajectory has been defined by several inflection points. The invention of electricity, the light bulb, the telegraph system, the computer and the Internet, among others, have all signaled new irreversible milestones in our modus vivendi. The recent introduction of ChatGPT may, however, prove to be more than an inflection point. It, and AI models like it, may be a permanent disruptor to our way of life; their bloopers and Wokist tantrums notwithstanding. Chat GPT is now the fastest-growing consumer app in history. Within two months of its launch in November 2022, ChatGPT managed to garner more than 100 million users. Its developer OpenAI, which began with 375 employees and thin revenue, is now valued at $30 billion and counting.

Meteor fireball over Spain (March 12) Signs of the Times

This bright bolide was spotted over Spain on March 12, at 2:24 local time (equivalent to 1:24 universal time). The event was generated by a rock (a meteoroid) from an asteroid that hit the atmosphere at about 53,000 km/h. The fireball overflew the region of Madrid and the province of Segovia (Spain). It began at an altitude of about 74 km over the locality of Pedrezuela (Madrid), moved northwest, and ended at a height of around 33 km over Navalilla (province of Segovia). This bright meteor was recorded in the framework of the SMART project, operated by the Southwestern Europe Meteor Network (SWEMN) from the meteor-observing stations located at Huelva, La Hita (Toledo), Calar Alto, Sierra Nevada, La Sagra (Granada), and Sevilla. The event has been analyzed by the principal investigator of the SMART project: Dr. Jose M. Madiedo, from the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC).

America's small banks are crashing and the vultures will soon be circling Signs of the Times

Over the weekend, when parsing through the carnage sweeping the US banking sector, we analyzed (above) which banks are facing the highest deposit-run risk in the aftermath of the SIVB - and now SBNY - failures, and focused on a handful of names who have the bulk of their funding in the form of deposits - deposits which are now suddenly at risk amid what seems to be a major bank run. JPM's Michael Cembalest - whose bank is poised to benefit the most from the ongoing carnage - chimed in with the following chart, which added an additional axis looking at loans plus securities as a % of total deposits, but which after the new BTFP bailout facility is irrelevant since the Fed and TSY are effectively backstopping unrealized losses on securities.

If a fiction writer turned this in, it would be rejected as too obvious. It looks as if the book's point has been made. Transgender activists are a lot like Pennywise the clown Signs of the Times

Ten years ago would you have ever thought we would be having this debate? Transsexual cosplay has somehow become the reigning social issue of our era, with trans activism taking precedence within government, public schools and even the corporate world. For reasons that defy logic the question of "trans rights" has superseded all other conflicts regarding civil liberties. A group that comprises less than 0.5% of the US population has been dictating the national discussion. Not only that, but there is reasonable suspicion that a majority of these people are not actually "trans" but are simply joining what they see as an opportunistic trend. Perhaps it's to get attention they feel they are entitled to. Perhaps it is a way to feel as if they are a part of something historically meaningful as they do little else with their lives. Perhaps it is a play to get special treatment and special protection under victim group status. Becoming trans is, after all, the easiest way for an otherwise...

A peer-reviewed paper initially approved and praised by a prestigious academic journal was suddenly rescinded without explanation. Its author, one of the world's top scholars on Ukraine-related issues, had marshaled overwhelming evidence to conclude Maidan protesters were killed by pro-coup snipers. The massacre by snipers of anti-government activists and police officers in Kiev's Maidan Square in late February 2014 was a defining moment in the US-orchestrated overthrow of Ukraine's elected government. The death of 70 protesters triggered an avalanche of international outrage that made President Viktor Yanukovych's downfall a fait accompli. Yet today these killings remain unsolved. Enter Ivan Katchanovski, a Ukrainian-Canadian political scientist at the University of Ottawa. For years, he marshaled overwhelming evidence demonstrating that the snipers were not affiliated with Yanukovych's government, but pro-Maidan operatives firing from protester-occupied buildings.

Biden emphasizes U.S. banking system is safe [just like the vaccine] CLG News

Biden emphasizes U.S. banking system is safe [just like the vaccine] | 13 March 2023 | Joe Biden addressed the nation Monday to assure Americans that the banking system is safe after the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank. In his speech, he highlighted the immediate action that his administration has taken. Customers' deposits will be protected: Customers will "have access to their money as of today. That includes small businesses across the country that bank there and need to make payroll, pay their bills and stay open for business," Biden said, adding that no losses will be suffered by the taxpayers. "Instead, the money will come from the fees that banks pay into the deposit insurance fund," he explained. The management of these banks will be fired: "If the bank is taken over by FDIC, the people running the bank should not work there anymore," Biden said. Investors in the banks will not be protected: "They knowingly took a risk and when the risk didn't pay off, investors lose their money. That's how capitalism works," Biden added.

Australian town engulfed by record-breaking flood Signs of the Times

The flood, triggered by heavy rain over the past week, is worst in the remote Gulf of Carpentaria town of Burketown, about 1,300 miles northwest of state capital Brisbane. Dan McKinlay, chief executive of the local council responsible for Burketown, said on Sunday that 97 residents had been airlifted out in the past 48 hours. Australia's Bureau of Meteorology predicted water levels in the area would peak on Sunday. It said the flood had already topped a March 2011 record of 22.2 feet. The crisis comes after frequent flooding in Australia's east over the last two years due to a multi-year La Nina weather event, including once-in-a-century floods that hit remote areas in the neighboring Northern Territory, in January.

Even Kissinger Wants Compromise: How Ukraine Became a Winner-Take-All Proposition MintPress News

As is the case of long wars, the warring parties and their affiliated media in the Russia-Ukraine conflict have painted each other using uncompromising language, making it nearly impossible to offer an unbiased view of the ongoing tragedy that has killed, wounded and expelled millions.

While it is understandable that wars of such horror and near complete disregard of the most basic human rights often heighten our sense of what we consider to be moral and just, parties involved and invested in such conflicts often manipulate morality for political and geopolitical reasons.

This same logic is underway in Ukraine. Both sides are adamant that nothing less than a complete victory is acceptable. The Ukrainian view is fully supported by western countries in word and deed as in tens of billions of modern weapons that have done little, aside from worsening an already bloody conflict.

The Russians hardly see their war in Ukraine as a war against Ukraine itself. In his speech delivered on the first anniversary of the war, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the war as an act of self-defense. They are the ones who started this war, and we are using our forces to put a stop to it, Putin said in a joint session of the Russian Parliament and Kremlin officials.

Members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have characterized the war using similar language. We are fighting Russia, Germanys Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said. Though the statement was withdrawn later on, Baerbock was actually being truthful: NATO and Russia are, indeed, at war.

The narratives of both sides, however, are so complex yet so polarized. To even attempt to offer a third view on the war, or even to approach the subject in a purely analytical manner immediately qualifies one to be biased. Each side defensible and consistent with international law. As a result, many reasonable people find themselves retreating in silence.

But is silence, in itself, an immoral position, especially during times of war and human suffering? It should be. In Islamic theology, it is accepted that anyone who refrains himself from speaking the truth is a mute devil.

This maxim is shared by most modern philosophies and political ideologies. Among many such statements addressing the matter, one of the most powerful assertions by African-American leader and preacher Martin Luther King Jr. is, The day we see truth and cease to speak is the day we begin to die.

Yet, there is no single truth on the Ukraine war that can remain fully truthful after being placed within a larger context. The war on Ukraine is indeed illegal, but the preceding civil war in Donbas and the violated Minsk agreements at the behest of Western powers as admitted by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel were also immoral and illegal. In fact, none of these acts can b...

US-Ukraine unity is cracking apart Signs of the Times

POLITICO reports there are growing differences between Washington and Kyiv. Over one year since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, there are growing differences between Washington and Kyiv on how to move forward in the conflict, POLITICO reported Sunday. One issue is over Bakhmut, the eastern Ukrainian city where Russian and Ukrainian forces have been locked in battle for over eight months. Biden administration officials think Ukraine has expended too many resources defending Bakhmut and worry it will impact their ability to launch a counteroffensive this spring, but officials in Kyiv have decided to keep fighting for the city.

Defending the Weelaunee Forest Dissident Voice

My creed of nonviolence is an extremely active force. It has no room for cowardice or even weakness. There is hope for a violent man to be some day non-violent, but there is none for a coward. I have, therefore, said more than once.that, if we do not know how to defend ourselves, our women and our places of worship by the force of suffering, i.e., nonviolence, we must, if we are men, be at least able to defend all these by fighting.

Though violence is not lawful, when it is offered in self-defence or for the defence of the defenceless, it is an act of bravery far better than cowardly submission.

We do want to drive out the beast in the man, but we do not want on that account to emasculate him. And in the process of finding his own status, the beast in him is bound now and again to put up his ugly appearance.

The world is not entirely governed by logic. Life itself involves some kind of violence and we have to choose the path of least violence.

Mohandas K. Gandhi, Between Cowardice and Violence

Earlier this week I participated in several actions in Atlanta during a Week of Action in defense of the South River Forest, also known as the Weelaunee Forest in honor of the Muscogee Creek people who lived there until they were departed in the Trail of Tears.1 The primary action which I helped to organize and participated in took place on March 6 when a group of mainly elders went to the Atlanta corporate headquarters and then five active construction worksites in Atlanta of the corporation Brasfield & Gorrie.

B & G is the company which, any day now, could begin construction of a $90 million, 85-or-more-acre concrete training complex for police in the Weelaunee Forest, which is adjacent to Black and brown residential neighborhoods. The intention is that it would become a major institution where police from around the country would come to be trained, leading to significant destruction of the several hundred acre forest and thousands of trees.

While at the Brasfield & Gorrie corporate headquarters where our group was demonstrating, a Cobb County police officer came by. As the designated police liaison I spoke to him. He initiated a conversation about Cop City and why it was so needed because, he said, the existing training police facility was so rundown, with leaks and mold. I responded, Why seriously damage an important forest? Why not renovate or tear down the existing building and build a new one on the existing police site? He didnt have much of an answer to either qu...

The Realities of the International Power Struggle Dissident Voice

Events continue to unfold at a quickening pace. Facing an alarming escalation in tensions around the world, we asked Michael T. Klare for his current thoughts.

Michael Klare is a Five Colleges professor of Peace and World Security Studies at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts; defense correspondent of The Nation magazine; and author of The Race for Whats Left: The Global Scramble for the Worlds Last Resources (2012), Rising Powers, Shrinking Planet: The New Geopolitics of Energy (2009), and Blood and Oil: The Dangers and Consequences of Americas Growing Dependence on Imported Petroleum (2000). He has a BA and MA from Columbia University, and a PhD from Union Institute & University.

We focus on the realities of the international power struggle unfolding in real time, specifically addressing the role of the U.S. in the tensions and its capacity to reduce them. We are looking for paradigm-shift ideas for improving the prospects for peace. His responses below of are exactly as he provided.

Here is what Michael had to say.

Q: We hear a lot of terms and acronyms bandied about. Deep State MIC FIRE sector ruling elite oligarchy neocons. Who actually defines and sets Americas geopolitical priorities and determines our foreign policy? Not officially. Not constitutionally. But de facto.

Michael T. Klare: From my experience, US foreign policy is set by what some have called the blob the unelected, bipartisan, self-replicating network of senior Washington policymakers (NSC, DoD, CIA) plus the chairs of the House and Senate Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees; engaged former generals, admirals, and ambassadors; major defense contractor lobbyists; and key think-tank and media pundits (usually interchangeable with the other categories).

Q: Weve had decades of international tensions. Recent developments have seen a sharp escalation in the potential for a major war. The U.S. apparently cannot be at peace. Threats against the homeland are allegedly increasing in number and severity. The trajectory of our relations with the rest of the world appears to be more confrontations, more enemies, more crises, more wars.

Is the world really that full...

Silicon Valley Bank and the Anti-Regulation Bank Lobby Dissident Voice

Before the financial collapse come the aggressive anti-regulation lobbyists. These are often of the same ilk: loathing anything resembling oversight, restriction, reporting and monitoring. They are incarnations of the frontier, symbolically toting guns and slaying the natives, seeking wealth beyond paper jottings, compliance and bureaucratic tedium.

The collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), for a period of time the preferred bank for start-ups, is the bitter fruit of that harvest. Three days prior to the second-largest failure of a US financial institution since the implosion of Washington Mutual (Wamu) in 2008, lobbyists for the banking sector had reason to gloat. They had the ears of a number of GOP lawmakers and were pressing the case that Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell had little reason to sharpen regulations in the industry.

As a matter of fact, the converse case was put: the financial environment was proving too stringent, and needed easing up. This effort built on gains made during the Trump administration, which saw the passing of the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act. Then House majority leader Kevin McCarthy was particularly keen on winding back elements of the Dodd-Frank banking measures introduced in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. In 2018, he got much of what he wished for.

Lobbyists for SVB were particularly aggressive in that endeavour, and even went so far as to seek exemptions from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the body responsible for insuring bank deposits in times of crisis and institutional oversight. Two former staffers for McCarthy so ...

Why SVB failed: The bank ignored one of the fundamentals of finance Fast Company

All of the recent bank failures at SVB, Silvergate, and Signature Bank, have one glaring thing in common.

If youre looking for reasons for the failure of Silicon Valley Bank, which was taken over by the FDIC last Friday after one of the biggest bank runs in U.S. history, one obvious culprit is the fact that the bank violated one of the elementary rules of finance: Always diversify. SVB became the 16th-largest bank in the country by turning itself into the financial institution of choice for Silicon Valley venture capitalists and the companies they funded. But in doing so, it also made itself exceptionally dependent on the health of the tech industry and on the choices of a relatively small number of VCs and company founders. That dependence is what made the bank so successful. Its also what helped destroy it.

The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) The Black Vault

Background

HAARP

The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) is an ionospheric research program jointly funded by the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Navy, the University of Alaska, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Designed and built by BAE Advanced Technologies (BAEAT), its purpose is to analyze the ionosphere and investigate the potential for developing ionospheric enhancement technology for radio communications and surveillance. The HAARP program operates a major sub-arctic facility, named the HAARP Research Station, on an Air Forceowned site near Gakona, Alaska.

HAARP has been the topic of conspiracy theories for quite some time, which range from HAARP being capable of modifying weather, disabling satellites and exerting mind control over people, and that it was being used as a weapon against terrorists. Such theories blamed the program for causing earthquakes, droughts, storms and floods, diseases such as Gulf War Syndrome and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the 1996 crash of TWA Flight 800, and the 2003 destruction of the space shuttle Columbia.

Below are documents obtained about HAARP, and are archived here for research and are listed in chronological order of report date.

Cryptocurrency industry lobbying and political contributions skyrocketed in 2022 Original Journalism from OpenSecrets News

The cryptocurrency industry has ramped up its lobbying spending and political contributions. (Photo illustration by Chesnot/Getty Images)

March 12-18 is Sunshine Week, an annual celebration aimed at promoting transparency. This story is part of a series highlighting OpenSecrets work to shine a light on key areas related to money in politics at the state and federal level.

The cryptocurrency industry vastly expanded its political influence web with federal lobbying spending exploding to a whopping $21.6 million in 2022, an OpenSecrets analysis of federal lobbying data found.

The crypto industrys 2022 federal lobbying spending represents an increase of more than twice the roughly $8.3 million it spent in 2021 and over eight times the $2.5 million it spent in 2020. The number of crypto clients spending on lobbying also increased from 18 in 2020 to 56 in 2022.

Congress has gained momentum on digital asset regulations, spurred in part by the sensational collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange platform FTX and federal charges filed against its former CEO, political megadonor Sam Bankman-Fried. But Bankman-Fried and FTX are just a small slice of a much larger industry originally conceived as a decentralized alternative to the traditional centralized banking system thats been pushing regulatory priorities on Capitol Hill.
