Why Would Anyone Ever Assume Were Not Being Manipulated 24/7? Dissident Voice

So many people I know get very defensive when I discuss the plandemic machinations. They either can not accept that manipulation is the standard operating procedure for those in charge or that they would ever be gullible enough to be tricked on a regular basis.

Thats when I tell them about the Gruen Transfer.

Victor Gruen was an Austrian architect who loved the cafes and public squares of Vienna. Upon starting work in the U.S., Gruen was responsible for something that came to be known as the Gruen Transfer (or Gruen Effect). As he aimed to re-create environments from his youth, he ended up inspiring a very insidious reality.

The Gruen Transfer manipulates people into losing track of...

'Strange metals' operate outside normal rules of electricity Signs of the Times

UC physicist explores mysteries of strange metals. International team finds unusual electrical behavior in experiments. Physicists at the University of Cincinnati are learning more about the bizarre behavior of "strange metals," which operate outside the normal rules of electricity. Theoretical physicist Yashar Komijani, an assistant professor in UC's College of Arts and Sciences, contributed to an international experiment using a strange metal made from an alloy of ytterbium, a rare earth metal. Physicists in a lab in Hyogo, Japan, fired radioactive gamma rays at the strange metal to observe its unusual electrical behavior. Led by Hisao Kobayashi with the University of Hyogo and RIKEN, the study was published in the journal Science. The experiment revealed unusual fluctuations in the strange metal's electrical charge. "The idea is that in a metal, you have a sea of electrons moving in the background on a lattice of ions," Komijani said. "But a marvelous thing happens with quantum...

Police Accountability & Reinventing Policing, with Stephen Janis and Taya Graham MintPress News

Today, Lee Camp, the host of Behind the Headlines, speaks with two journalists, Taya Graham and Stephen Janis, about their ongoing show, The Police Accountability Report. Running for four years, the show is focused on shining a light on police misdeeds. Although based in Baltimore, it covers law enforcement abuse across the country. The journalists, who between them have been covering the subject for two decades, share their experiences reporting on police brutality, corruption, and the need for police reform.

Despite the lack of coverage in the corporate press, Taya notes that there is a whole subculture of cop watchers and auditors who film the police and test their first amendment rights in a public space. She grew up in Baltimore, a majority-black city, and was no stranger to police brutality. However, in her younger days, she assumed it was largely a local problem. Yet as they expanded their coverage, it became clear that this is a systemic issue across the entire United States.

Stephen adds that police corruption is a reflection of the values of the community it serves. He believes that policing only reflects the people who have the power, money, and capital to impose it on underprivileged communities. He says that when they talk about police corruption, they are really talking about the corruption of inequality in a community desiring to police itself. Stephen believes that the underlying conditions in the community the police serve do not change, and that is why police brutality is prevalent across the country.

The interview sheds light on the ongoing problem of police abuse and the need for police reform. Taya and Stephens show, The Police Accountability Report, is an important step towards taking law enforcement to task for their actions. The lack of interest from the likes of Fox News and CNN in truly scrutinizing the power of the police means Stephen and Tayas work is all the more important.

Silicon Valley Bank crisis: The liquidity crunch we predicted has now begun and the FED is largely to blame Signs of the Times

There has been an avalanche of information and numerous theories circulating the past few days about the fate of a bank in California know as SVB (Silicon Valley Bank). SVB was the 16th largest bank in the US until it abruptly failed and went into insolvency on March 10th. The impetus for the collapse of the bank is tied to a $2 billion liquidity loss on bond sales which caused the institution's stock value to plummet over 60%, triggering a bank run by customers fearful of losing some or most of their deposits. There are many fine articles out there covering the details of the SVB situation, but what I want to talk about more is the root of it all. The bank's shortfalls are not really the cause of the crisis, they are a symptom of a wider liquidity drought that I predicted here at Alt-Market months ago, including the timing of the event. First, though, let's discuss the core issue, which is fiscal tightening and the Federal Reserve. In my article 'The Fed's Catch-22 Taper Is A...

The name Michael Kimmelman is rare in these pages, but in covering one of our favorite topics he gets our full attention again today:

As New York Weighs Library Cuts, Three New Branches Show Their Value

Facing a giant budget deficit, Mayor Eric Adams proposed cuts to New York libraries. But they play an outsize role in the city, offering services and safety.

Adults and children gather in a well-lit childrens room in a library that is filled with bookshelves. One child sits on a color-blocked rug, drawing.

A city is only as good as its public spaces. The Covid-19 pandemic was another reminder: For quarantined New Yorkers, parks, outdoor dining sheds and reopened libraries became lifelines.

But now Mayor Eric Adams wants to slash funds for parks (...

Mozambique and Malawi on Monday were counting the cost of Tropical Storm Freddy, which killed more than 100 people, injured scores and left a trail of destruction as it ripped through southern Africa for the second time in a month over the weekend. Freddy is one of the strongest storms ever recorded in the southern hemisphere and could be the longest-lasting tropical cyclone, according to the World Meteorological Organization. It pummelled central Mozambique on Saturday, ripping roofs off buildings and bringing widespread flooding around the port of Quelimane, before moving inland towards Malawi with torrential rains that caused landslides.

Odesa and World Heritage Politics The Duck of Minerva

The Convention Concerning the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage  (The World Heritage Convention) entered into force in 1975. The world heritage regime, in effect, produces the shared heritage of humanity. States use their right, as set by the Convention, to nominate sites within their borders; the files accompanying the nomination make the case for the sites outstanding universal value. The relevant Advisory Bodyfor cultural heritage sites, the International Council of Museums and Sites (ICOMOS) evaluates the site and its file. The intergovernmental World Heritage Committee, composed of twenty-one rotating members, discusses the site, the file, and the ICOMOS recommendation during its annual meeting; it makes the final decision on additions to the World Heritage List.

The Convention requires the World Heritage Committee to meet annually to take the regimes implementing decisions. The Russian Federation was supposed to host last years meeting during June. But Russias war on Ukraine led to strong pressures for a change in location; in the end, the session was indefinitely postponed.

In October 2022, Ukrainian President Zelensky officially nominated the Historic Centre of Odesa for inscription on the World Heritage List. He did so under the emergency procedure for sites facing immediate danger. Thus, if the nomination succeeded Odesa would also be placed on the List of World Heritage in Danger, which designates sites for which major operations are necessary and for which assistance has been requested under the Convention.

To fulfill its obligations under the Convention, the Committee held an extraordinary session at UNESCOs Paris headquarters in December 2022. During this meeting, the Committee decided to convene a second extraordinary session in January 2023.

The agenda for the January 2023 meeting had three substantive items; the third item read any other matter. Italy, Belgium, Japan, Greece and Bulgaria advanced Odesas nomination by placing the evaluation of nominations to be processed on an emergency basis under that third item.

The Russian Federation responded with a series of procedural moves aimed at preventing the nomination from moving forward. The debate grew heated enough for the Saudi Arabian chair of the meeting to make m...

Piro Rexhepis book White Enclosures: Racial Capitalism and Coloniality along the Balkan Route (Duke University Press 2022) is a refreshing study that goes beyond current global queerphobic and racist tendencies and focuses on largely overlooked Bosnian, Albanian, and Roma Muslim lived experiences.

In 2015, Balkan route became a buzzword for war refugees predominantly from Syria who set out on the deadly path to Fortress Europe. The Visegrd group made up of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia was only marginally affected, but it was in these states that perhaps the most vocal representatives of an anti-migrant stance could be found.

Silicon Valley Bank, the second-largest U.S. bank to collapse, had recently been putting effort into multiple LGBTQ diversity programs, including a "safe space," just before the institution folded. As reported by the New York Post, the company spent money on a month-long LGBTQ pride campaign and a new online resource for LGBTQ youth spearheaded by Jay Ersapah, head of Financial Risk Management at the bank's UK branch. "As a queer person of color and a first-generation immigrant from a working-class background, there were not many role models for me to 'see' growing up," said Ersapah of the diversity and inclusion initiatives. Comment: This is definitely where you want the focus to be for your bank.

Famed investor Michael Burry shredded the executives formerly in charge of Silicon Valley Bank on Sunday as the tech lender's sudden collapse prompted fears of a systemic meltdown. Burry, the hedge fund boss made famous in the 2015 film "The Big Short," likened the current banking sector crisis to conditions the market experienced when the dotcom bubble burst in 2000 and the US housing market imploded in 2008. "2000, 2008, 2023. It is always the same," Burry said in a now-deleted tweet on Sunday. "People full of hubris and greed take stupid risks, and fail. Money is then printed. Heavily Criticised Pro-lockdown Paper Cited Far More Than Anti-lockdown Papers Signs of the Times

Formal scientific institutions took a battering during the pandemic, and deservedly so. From the wildly inaccurate predictions of SAGE modellers to the denial of natural immunity by signatories of the John Snow Memorandum, 'Science' (uppercase 's') has not had a good three years. A particularly striking illustration of this is citation patterns in the scientific literature. If things were working well, the best studies would get cited the most. Unfortunately, that appears not to be the case: citations have flowed disproportionately to studies that uphold The Narrative. In June, 2020, researchers from Imperial College London (including our old friend Neil Ferguson) published a paper in the prestigious journal Nature titled 'Estimating the effects of non-pharmaceutical interventions on COVID-19 in Europe'. They concluded - on the basis of a complex model-fitting exercise - that lockdowns had saved the lives of 3.1 million people across 11 European countries. That's right, 3.1 million...

'We were wrong': Pioneer in child gender dysphoria treatment says trans medical industry is harming kids Signs of the Times

Dr. Susan Bradley, a Canadian psychiatrist and pioneer in child gender dysphoria treatment, came out against the popular model of affirming children's transgender identities and putting them on puberty blockers a practice she was once involved in in an interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation. Bradley started a pediatric gender clinic in 1975 aimed at treating children with gender dysphoria a deep sense of discomfort with one's body and biological sex in which she offered a therapy-focused approach; most patients outgrew their feelings of being transgender over time, she told the DCNF. Around 2000, the clinic began prescribing puberty blockers to gender-dysphoric children as a way to alleviate their distress, a model which has since become widely adopted by medical establishments around the world, including in the U.S. Bradley, who is now in her early eighties, expressed regret that the clinic had participated in the administration of puberty blockers for gender...

mRNA vaccine contamination much worse than thought: Jabs "up to 35%" DNA that turns human cells into long-term spike protein factories Signs of the Times

The contamination of mRNA vaccines with DNA is far greater than initially thought at up to 35%, and the DNA's role in inducing human cells to produce the spike protein long term has been confirmed, according to the latest research. Earlier this month, the Daily Sceptic reported on the work of Dr. Kevin McKernan and his team who had subjected the mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna to deep sequencing analysis and found alarming levels of DNA contaminants known as plasmids. These are small circular DNA molecules that in principle can self-replicate in bacterial and human cells and induce the cell to produce the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein long term. Each vaccine dose was found to contain billions of these plasmids. The Moderna vaccine appeared to contain DNA contamination at around the 'safe' level set by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) at the equivalent of one part per 3,000 mRNA molecules, though it's not clear how safe this level really is. The Pfizer vaccine, on the other...

Rolex Prices to Drop Further as Supply Surges Terra Forming Terra

There are still plenty of pools of cash out there and it strikes me that securing an inventory is a handy way of protecting cash.  So a heavy uptick in new buys could flood the market with used product.

Room-Temperature Superconductor Discovery Meets With Resistance Terra Forming Terra

This is also good news.

Room-Temperature Superconductor Discovery Meets With Resistance

A paper in Nature reports the discovery of a superconductor that operates at room temperatures and near-room pressures. The claim has divided the research community.

One hallmark of superconductivity is the Meissner effect, which expels all magnetic fields from a material a property that allows a superconductor to levitate, as seen here. The researchers claim to observe the Meissner effect in their new material.

The Wests Neocons have exploited Ukraine to wage war against Russia, for the sole reason they hated Russia, and even with the fall of the USSR, they have never changed their views. They tried to stop Reagan from meeting Gorbachev. I found myself back in 1999 to seize control of Russia by having the bankers, led by Edmond Safra, blackmail Yeltsin to step down and hand Russia to the boy, Boris Berezovsky. They tried to get me to invest $10 billion into their Hermitage Capital Management. When I refused, even Boris tried to call me to persuade me to contribute to their cause. When I refused, Edmond stole $1 billion I had on deposit at his bank and the NY press supported the Neocons, as always.

Ironically, they began their manipulation of Ukraine in 2014. It was the Neocons, not the CIA with this plot. John McCain was there meeting even with the Neo-Nazis in public and promising the crowd that America will stand with them if they overthrow their government Regime Change has always been their agenda. It has NEVER worked out even once Vietnam, Iraq, Syria, Cuba, and Ukraine just to mention a few.

Toxic Currencies Good for the Yuan Armstrong Economics

The Chinese yuan has out-traded the US dollar by volume for one of the first times in recent Russian history. The dollar was king in 1991 when the Soviet Union collapsed, but that is no longer the case after Moscow branded the dollar a toxic currency along with the euro. Toxic currencies accounted for 87% of exports from Russia at the beginning of 2022, but this figure fell to 48% by the start of the new year. The Bank of Russia has reported that the proportion of USD/ruble pair in exchange fell to only 36% in February. The central bank is calling this a broad structural transformation of the Russian economy.

As unfriendly countries and their toxic currencies band together, those on the outskirts are winning. China has become the new go-to country for new trade partnerships as it bypasses Western-imposed sanctions. Toxic currencies represented 46% of imports in December 2022 but were at 65% in January 2022 before the war. In contrast, the yuans share rose from 4% to 23% during that time.

Where to Go? Armstrong Economics

A lot of people have been asking where to go, what bank is safe, and whats next? This is by no means over. The fiscal mismanagement is off the charts and we have a major clash with the Marxist views of the Democrats who always want to punish the rich and then ask them for funding. Only in the Democratic Party can you have a $ 10,000-a-plate fundraiser and preach how evil inequality is and that the rich must be held accountable.

Those who keep calling for a gold standard are clueless. To have a return to balanced budgets means that the Democrats will have to completely reform. They DO NOT know how to govern without class warfare. Politics has deeply divided the United States to the point that the only reasonable solution will be to separate between the blue v red. As Lincon said, a house divided cannot stand. That is becoming so obvious that there will come a day soon when that will be the case. There are over 30 civilizations that have come before us. Every single one has collapsed. We are merely waiting for our 15 minutes in the spotlight.

Sergey Glazyev: 'The road to financial multipolarity will be long and rocky' Signs of the Times

In an exclusive interview with The Cradle, Russia's top macroeconomics strategist criticizes Moscow's slow pace of financial reform and warns there will be no new global currency without Beijing. The headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) in Moscow, linked to the Eurasia Economic Union (EAEU) is arguably one of the most crucial nodes of the emerging multipolar world. That's where I was received by Minister of Integration and Macroeconomics Sergey Glazyev - who was previously interviewed in detail by The Cradle - for an exclusive, expanded discussion on the geoeconomics of multipolarity. Glazyev was joined by his top economic advisor Dmitry Mityaev, who is also the secretary of the Eurasian Economic Commission's (EEC) science and technology council. The EAEU and EEC are formed by Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia. Betting all on hegemony; Risking all, to stave off ruin Signs of the Times

Just occasionally, a window is opened onto the truth of how the 'system' works. Momentarily, it stands naked in its degeneracy. We avert our eyes, yet, it is a revelation (though it shouldn't be). For, we see clearly how tawdry has been the attire which clothed it. 'Liberalism's' seeming success - almost wholly an ephemeral PR production - serves only to make its underlying internal contradictions more obvious; more 'in your face' - much less credible. This unravelling speaks to a failure to satisfactorily resolve liberal modernity's inherent contradictions. Or, rather its unravelling derives from the choice to resolve a waning legitimacy, through an ever more totalistic and ideological reaching for hegemony. One such window has been the sordid affair of the UK pandemic lockdowns - as revealed by a paper trail leak of 100,000 ministerial WhatsApp messages, managing the lockdown project. What did they show (in the words here of pro-government leading political commentators)? An ugly...

6 Things People Dont Realize You Are Doing Because Youre The Child Of A Narcissistic Parent Awareness Act

Narcissists are individuals who have a callous disregard for others, a grandiose sense of self, and a major lack of empathy. Due to these traits, the people who get close to them often have to deal with a variety of abuse, and that is especially true for their children.

Children who grew up with a narcissistic parent tend to experience the world differently. You see, through dealing with the narcissist at a young age, the child of a narcissist is often shaped by their parents behaviors. For that reason, they tend to carry themselves differently than others. Here are 6 things people dont realize they are doing because they are the child of a narcissistic parent.

1. Not trusting others.

When you grow up with narcissistic parents, it may be hard to trust others. Our parents are supposed to shape the way that we see the world. However, in the case of a narcissistic parent, they may end up causing you to not feel like you can trust people because your narcissistic parents were not trustworthy.

2. Always second-guessing themselves.

Narcissistic parents can be hypercritical, always following you around, and critiquing everything that you do. It is because of this, that you may begin to second-guess yourself and this can develop into a trait of constantly second-guessing.

3. You are a people-pleaser.

In many cases, the child of a narcissist will take on the role of peacemaker. They will do anything they can to make the narcissist happy enough to not lash out at them. Over time, the child of the narcissist can become a people pleaser.

4. You keep people at a distance.

Our parents set the stage for how we connect with others. When we have a healthy relationship with our parents, we can securely attach ourselves to others as well. However, when your parents are abusive, or narcissistic, you may have a hard time connecting with them and everyone else, too.

5. You pick the wrong partners.

Another trend among those who were raised by narcissistic parents is that they tend to latch on to similar people as their parents, unintentionally. One theory behind this is that the child of the narcissist is always trying to re-try the same situation or dynamic as the one they grew accustomed too subconsciously.

6. You self-deprecate.

When you get used to everyone tearing you down all the time, you will begin to hear their voice as your inner monologue. This can lead to very negative self-talk and even feelings of worthlessness. Most people may not realize this, but the reason you are your own worst enemy is that growing up, your parents raised you to be.

4 Things That Will Change When You Lower Your Voice Awareness Act

Once upon a time, it was pretty normal for parents to use yelling as a primary form of discipline. I know I grew up being yelled at and so did my parents, but thanks to a lot of new research and academic study, we now realize that yelling is a pretty terrible option for raising children.

Some studies have compared the effects of yelling to the effects of corporal punishment. Based on the research, children who are yelled at on a regular tend to be more anxious, and aggressive and struggle with academia. Due to this, its best to nix the yelling and find a more peaceful way to speak with your children.

Here are 4 changes you will notice when you lower your voice.

1. Your children will stop trying to fight you so much.

When you yell at your kids, they may immediately become defensive and agitated. In turn, they are likely to trust you less and buck up against you more often. When you stop yelling, your kids will ease up, because whether you realize it or not, they are taking your lead when you yell.

2. They listen better.

When you stop yelling and start talking, your kids start to listen to you more. Oftentimes, when we start yelling, our kids either get scared or shut us out. Because of this, yelling isnt making you get heard more, you are heard less. When you stop yelling, they start listening better.

3. You feel like a better parent.

I always felt guilty about yelling at my kids. I always walked away feeling like I had made the situation worse and as it turns out, I was making things worse. Now, that I have stopped yelling as much, I feel much better about my parenting.

4. Your whole family dynamic will change.

Your whole family will change when you stop yelling. Its like peace will come over your household. It may seem odd, but when you are always yelling, you are setting the tone for your home.

4 Things You Can Do To Raise Competitive Children Awareness Act

We all want to raise smart, successful, and happy children. Of course, to achieve this, there are many traits you need to encourage in your children and one of those is a healthy sense of competition.

No one wants to raise a sore loser, and you surely do not want to raise someone who is obnoxiously competitive. However, we still want our kids to be competitive because this will ultimately make them more motivated and hell-bent on achieving their goals. If this sounds like something you want for your child, then make sure you are doing these four things.

1. Praise effort, not talent.

Make sure your kids understand that positive outcomes come from hard work and effort. Explain how some of the most successful people and players work hard and practice often. Whenever you notice that effort paying off in your child, make sure you praise their effort.

2. Re-define success.

Make sure your child realizes that to feel accomplished, you do not always have to win. The best athletes and most successful people in the world have a growth mindset and know the aim of the themselves.

3. Learn from the competition.

Instead of making your child jealous or at odds with the competition, encourage them to learn from them. For example, if the other child on the team does better, say, I bet they practiced a whole lot and that helped them. Maybe we could practice more, so you can get there too.

4. Practice at home.

Play games at home and make sure they are kept fair. You can opt for more cooperative games to encourage teamwork and pay attention to how your child reacts when they win or lose. Use this as an opportunity to help them grow.

9 Things I Learned While Everyone Else Was Getting Married Awareness Act

I always had certain expectations for how I wanted my life to turn out, and if I am being honest, the way things are and the way I envisioned them is much different from one another. However, I am not sad about that.

One of the biggest aspirations I had as a young woman was to get married, have a family, and live the American dream. However, life had different plans for me. Instead of getting married, I spent my 20s and early 30s finding myself. There were a lot of things I discovered along the way and many of those lessons made me who I am today. While all of my friends were getting married, I learned the following things.

1. Emotional intelligence is everything.

Once upon a time, I would date just about anyone if they were the right type. However, the more guys I dated, the more I realized I required much more than that. Now, after years of working on my own emotional intelligence, I would NEVER be around a guy who wasnt doing the same.

2. You dont need someone else to make you happy.

You do not NEED a husband or wife to make you happy. If you arent happy with who you are and if you dont know how to meet your own needs, you will be disappointed with every guy that looks at you.

3. Actually, no one else can make you happy and fulfilled but you.

No one has the power to make you happy. It is so unrealistic to look at a person, and expect them to meet all of your needs. You have to know how to do that for yourself.

4. Your type changes constantly.

Over the course of your life, you will change your type. You will have a different type for each era of your life. So, be careful to not assume that your type wont change.

5. Getting your dream career is way more important than getting married.

I used to value the notion of marriage over anything. Now, I am so happy I spent the time and effort on building my career. Had I jumped headfirst into marriage, I would have surely lost myself.

6. Always invest in a good group of friends.

Friends are invaluable, especially good friends. Dont worry about surrounding yourself with a million people. Instead, surround yourself with a good group of people and make sure you invest in keeping those relationships maintained.

7. You have to know yourself before you marry someone else.

I think a lot of people worry about marriage and then later discover themselves. However, if we spent time on understanding ourselves first and then worried about marriages, I would barter that half of the people who end up divorced would be in better standing.

8. You dont need to be married to make things happen.

Another misconception in our society is that if you want a house a family or any of the big things, you have to be married. That simply isnt true. You dont need a husband to have a home. You do not have to be married to decide to have...

Echoes of Maidan: Georgia's huge Western-funded NGO sector and regular outbreaks of violent protest, is there a link? Signs of the Times

What lies behind this week's scenes in Tbilisi and why was Russia again used as a scapegoat? Tbilisi's main street, Rustaveli Avenue, was blocked for several days this week as thousands of people chanted anti-government slogans in front of the parliament building and sang the Georgian national anthem. Even more protesters gathered at the square in the evenings. By nightfall, the enraged crowd was throwing firecrackers, stones, and Molotov cocktails at the police, attempting to take down an iron fence and storm the parliament. The police used water cannons to promptly put out the fires and showered the crowds with water, at the same time spraying tear gas to disperse those present. What led to this violent confrontation is perhaps difficult to understand from the perspective of a Western reader. It wasn't a "civil society" uprising in the sense you might find, for example, in a country like France. Instead, it was organized by people whose livelihoods were threatened by the proposed...

The AUKUS Submarine Announcement Dissident Voice

History is filled with failed planners and plans, threats thought of that did not eventuate, and threats unthought of that found their way into the books. The AUKUS agreement is an attempt to inflate a threat by developing a number of fictional capabilities in an effort to combat an inflated adversary.

The checklist of imminent failure for this security pact between the United States, the UK and Australia is impressive and comically grotesque. In terms of the nuclear-powered submarine component, there are issues of expertise, infrastructure, hurdles of technology transfer, the hobbling feature of domestic politics, and national considerations. There are also matters of irresponsible costs, of the exhaustion of public money best spent elsewhere.

To put it bluntly, Australia and all its resources spanning across a number of industries will be co-opted in this enterprise against a phantom enemy, subjugating an already subordinate state to the US war-making enterprise.

All of this was laid bare at San Diegos Point Loma Naval Base on March 13, where the US imperium, backed up by a number of lickspittles from Australia and the United Kingdom, betrayed the cause of peace and announced to the world that war with China was not only a possibility but distinctly probable.

Central to the project is a staggering outlay of A$368 billion for up to thirteen vessels over three decades. Canberra will purchase at least three US-manufactured nuclear submarines while contributing significant additional resources to US shipyards. (Bully for the US builders.) Given that the United States is unable to make up its own inventory of Virginia class nuclear submarines at this stage, the purchase will be second hand, a point which is bound to niggle members of Congress. Two more vessels are also being thrown in as a possibility, should the need arise.

During this time, design and construction will take place on a new submarine dubbed the SSN-AUKUS, exploiting the work already undertaken by the UK on replacing the Astute-class submarines. It will be, according to the White House, based upon the United Kingdoms next generation SSN design while incorporating cutting edge US submarine technologies, and will be built and deployed by both Australia and the United Kingdom.

This point was also reiterated by the UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak. The Royal Navy will operate the same submarines as the Australian Navy and well share components and parts with the U...

'Humiliating': Germany is not a sovereign nation - Moscow Signs of the Times

Germany is facing an inevitable economic decline after losing its access to Russian energy, but cannot do anything about it because it is not a sovereign nation, the secretary of the Russian National Security Council has claimed. "Germany tried for many years to build its economy on a combination of cheap Russian energy and advanced German technologies. Like no one else, it realizes that the terrorist attack against the [Nord Stream pipelines] will definitely cause the German economy to decline further," Nikolay Patrushev said in an interview published in Argumenti i Fakti newspaper on Monday. The advantages that German businesses enjoyed by getting access to Russian fuel has long irritated the governments of the US and the UK, he continued. But Berlin is not at liberty to continue cooperating with Moscow, "because the German nation is not independent."

Ukrainians give neo-Nazi facelift to signpost in Antarctica Signs of the Times

Ukrainian polar explorers have repainted a signpost at the country's Antarctic station, commemorating the country's "allies," as well as daubing a ceremonial signpost in the red and black colors of the WW2-era Nazi collaborator Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). The makeover was announced by the National Antarctic Scientific Center of Ukraine in a Facebook post on Saturday, with the agency praising the explorers for their "incredible job." The signpost is located at the Akademik Vernadsky polar station, formerly known as Station Faraday before it was transferred to Kiev by the UK in the mid-1990s. The signpost had remained untouched for some 20 years and direly needed to be repaired, the agency explained.

France's First Lady Brigitte Macron loses 'transgender lawsuit' Signs of the Times

Brigitte Macron, the First Lady of France, filed a complaint last year against two women who uploaded a YouTube video titled "Brigitte Macron is a man." The video alleged that Brigitte had a gender reassignment at 18. On Wednesday, the French newspaper Le Point reported that Brigitte's complaint against the two women was "voided" by a Paris Judge. In its decision, consulted by AFP, the court declared void the summons issued by Brigitte Macron for invasion of privacy and image rights, considering that the facts she denounced should have been qualified of public defamation. Brigitte Macron, her brother, and the three children of the First Lady had assigned two women on February 15, 2022, one presenting herself as a "medium," the other as an "independent journalist." They asked the court to condemn these two women to pay them damages for having broadcast on the YouTube channel of the "medium", on December 10, 2021, "a perfectly eccentric thesis" according to which Brigitte Macron,...

Alastair Crooke: EU's Von der Leyen to meet Biden to discuss addressing 'China threat' - be worried! Signs of the Times

In a recent interview, Nicholas Burns, the US Ambassador to China, after labelling China the 'threat', bluntly said: "We're the leader in this [Indo-Pacific] region. [And We're] staying". The interviewer, US Congressman Mike Gallagher, described America's new Cold War as no polite tennis match, but an existential struggle for life in the 21st century. President Xi's earlier attempt to reach a 'new dtente' with the US during the November G20 at Bali -- effectively an attempt to explore whether a minimum modus vivendi with US were possible -- is over. The hysteria over the Chinese balloon; the increasing evidence that Ukraine is descending to a dbacle for the Biden Administration in the Bakhmut area; and the coarse threats of 'consequences' for China were it to support Russia militarily (and at the very moment when Washington was promising more weapons for Taiwan), were too much for Beijing.

Blood Does Not Wash Away Blood Dissident Voice

The extraordinary March 10, 2023 announcement that Chinas top diplomat, Mr. Wang Yi, helped broker a rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and Iran suggests that major powers can benefit from believing that, as Albert Camus once put it, words are more powerful than munitions.

This concept was also acknowledged by General Mark Milley, Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff who said on January 20, 2023, that he believes Russias war in Ukraine will conclude with negotiations rather than on the battlefield. In November of 2022, asked about prospects for diplomacy in Ukraine, Milley noted that the early refusal to negotiate in World War One compounded human suffering and led to millions more casualties.

So when theres an opportunity to negotiate, when peace can be achieved seize the moment, Milley told the Economic Club of New York.

Too little, too late: Michigan Governor Whitmer admits COVID-19 lockdowns went too far Signs of the Times

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) admitted on Sunday that her administration's pandemic-era lockdown policies went too far, such as her April 2020 executive order barring most stores from selling gardening supplies, including seeds and plants, to Americans who wanted to grow their own fruits and vegetables. "There were moments where, you know, we had to make some decisions that in retrospect don't make a lot of sense, right? If you went to the hardware store, you could go to the hardware store but we didn't want people to be congregating around the garden supplies," Whitmer told CNN's Chris Wallace. "People said 'oh, she's outlawed seeds.' It was February in Michigan, no one was planting anyway," she continued (except it was in April). "But that being said, some of those policies I look back and think, you know, maybe that was a little more than what we needed to do."

The Looming Quadrillion Dollar Derivatives Tsunami Dissident Voice

On Friday, March 10, Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) collapsed and was taken over by federal regulators. SVB was the 16th largest bank in the country and its bankruptcy was the second largest in U.S. history, following Washington Mutual in 2008. Despite its size, SVB was not a systemically important financial institution (SIFI) as defined in the Dodd-Frank Act, which requires insolvent SIFIs to bail in the money of their creditors to recapitalize themselves.

Technically, the cutoff for SIFIs is $250 billion in assets. However, the reason they are called systemically important is not their asset size but the fact that their failure could bring down the whole financial system. That designation comes chiefly from their exposure to derivatives, the global casino that is so highly interconnected that it is a house of cards. Pull out one card and the whole house collapses. SVB held $27.7 billion in derivatives, no small sum, but it is only .05% of the $55,387 billion ($55.387 trillion) held by JPMorgan, the largest U.S. derivatives bank.

SVB could be the canary in the coal mine foreshadowing the fate of other over-extended banks, but its collapse is not the sort of systemic risk predicted to trigger contagion. As reported by CNN:

Despite initial panic on Wall Street, analysts said SVBs collapse is unlikely to set off the kind of domino effect that gripped the banking industry during the financial crisis.

The system is as well-capitalized and liquid as it has ever been, Moodys chief economist Mark Zandi said. The banks that are now in trouble are much too small to be a meaningful threat to the broader system.

No later than Monday morning, all insured depositors will have full access to their insured deposits, according to the FDIC. It will pay uninsured depositors an advance dividend within the next week.

The FDIC, Federal Reserve and U.S. Treasury have now agreed on an interim fix that will the subject of another article. Meanwhile, this column focuses on derivatives and is a followup to my Feb. 23  column on the bail in provisions of the 2010 Dodd Frank Act, which eliminated taxpayer bai...

Making common, golden sense of the next senseless bank crisis Signs of the Times

The latest headlines, of course, are all pointing toward the ripple effect of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), and they should be. This banking metaphor for the tech sector in particular and the previously described disaster in California as a whole or the matter of banking risk as a theme, require understanding and attention, provided below. Once we get past a forensic look at the data and forces which explain SVB's demise, we quickly discover that SVB is itself just a symbol of a much larger financial (and banking) crisis which ties together nearly all of the major macro forces we've been tracking since Powell began his QE to QT quest to be Volcker-reborn. That is, we confirm that everything comes back to the Fed and bond market in general and the UST market in particular. But as I've argued for years, and will say again now: The bond market is the thing. By the end of this brief report, we also discover that SVB is just the beginning; contagion inside and outside of the banking sector...

As casualties mount, why there's a growing backlash against the methods used to conscript Ukrainian men for war Signs of the Times

Ukraine's general mobilization process has become shrouded in scandal as the authorities become increasingly desperate in their hunt for new recruits... Last year, military conscription became an issue in both Russia and Ukraine. However, the extent has been completely different in the two countries. While in Russia the mobilization was partial, lasting barely more than a month and affecting around 300,000 people, according to official figures - a significant part of whom already had military experience - a completely different picture has developed in Ukraine. Kiev instituted a general conscription drive which has been in force for more than a year. The exact number of those taken to the armed forces during this time is not known for certain and the process has been accompanied by numerous scandals. Cases where law enforcement officers have applied force when handing out conscription notices and illegally delivered men to enlistment offices have given rise to public discontent....

China foresees end of Ukraine war this summer: Report Signs of the Times

A fascinating new report in Nikkei Asia has unearthed and detailed the findings of an elite Chinese state-linked think tank which reports directly to the People's Liberation Army. Nikkei in the context of examining the timing and motives behind China's 12-point peace plan said that Chinese military experts are predicting the Russia-Ukraine war will end this summer. To review, the 12-point plan urged implementation of a ceasefire and the resumption of negotiations toward a permanent peaceful settlement, and was unveiled on the one-year Feb.24 anniversary of the war. But the Nikkei report asserts there's specific rationale driving Beijing: The reason for China's sudden change can be traced back to a report issued two months earlier by a top think tank in Beijing. The Academy of Military Sciences [AMS] reports directly to the People's Liberation Army. Although it cannot be found on a map, the institution is located in Beijing's Haidian district, which itself is home to the ruins of...

US progressives and MAGA Republicans joined forces to end the illegal occupation of Syria - but came up short Signs of the Times

On March 8, Representative Matt Gaetz introduced a resolution that would have forced congressional oversight to be applied to the continuation of America's military occupation of Syria. In total, 47 Republicans joined with 56 Democrats - primary members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) - in favor of the legislation. It also had support from Robert Ford, who was the Obama administration's ambassador to Syria and formerly a major hawk in favor of ousting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. "Syria is my leadoff hitter. We're going to take a trip around the globe. We may go to Yemen. We may have stops in Niger. We may have stops in Sudan. Maybe ultimately, we'll end in Ukraine," Gaetz told The Intercept about the bill, implying it would not be the last of its kind in ending American interventionism around the globe. Despite this unexpected bipartisan support, it was still shot down by the overwhelming majority of status quo hawks in Congress, representing a major lost...

Ex-Russian president suggests new name for Ukraine Signs of the Times

Dmitry Medvedev says the country should be called "Bandera-Reich" Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has proposed renaming Ukraine after notorious Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera. His suggestion came after Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky told his government to consider a proposal to change Russia's name. On Friday, Zelensky instructed authorities to "thoroughly study" the proposal to officially rename Russia to 'Moscovia.' He was reacting to an online petition, which argued that the name 'Russia' provided grounds for "further encroachment" on the history of Kievan Rus, a medieval state from which both Russia and Ukraine trace their origin. Many Ukrainian nationalists claim that their homeland is the only true heir of Rus. The name 'Moscovia' dates to the Grand Duchy of Moscow and was historically used by some authors to describe the Russian state. On Saturday, Medvedev, who served as Russian president between 2008 and 2012, and currently serves as deputy chairman of...

Market Talk March 13, 2023 Armstrong Economics

ASIA:

Chinas efforts to ramp up lithium extraction could see it accounting for nearly a third of the worlds supply by the middle of the decade, according to UBS AG. The bank expects Chinese-controlled mines, including projects in Africa, to raise output to 705,000 tons by 2025 from 194,000 tons in 2022. That would lift Chinas share of the mineral critical to electric-vehicle batteries to 32% of global supply, from 24% last year, according to a note on Friday. The race to secure lithium is playing out at the highest levels, with nations, including the US prioritizing access to the materials necessary for making batteries as the world turns away from fossil fuels. Chinas needs are particularly acute because its home to the worlds biggest market for new energy vehicles. The rise in Chinese output will include an increase in material derived from lepidolite, a lithium-bearing rock often overlooked as poor quality and environmentally unsound because of its low yield and high energy costs. UBS sees lepidolite in China accounting for 280,000 tons of lithium in 2025, or 13% of global supply, from 88,000 tons last year, as the government continues to support the sector. Beijing has already moved to curb unlicensed lepidolite extraction in Jiangxi province, a major mining hub, as it seeks to exert more control over its deposits.

FLASHBACK: Reaching for the Mark of the Beast Signs of the Times

Authorities want to require vaccines in order to buy, sell, or trade. Christians are alarmed. Anyone else with a brain should be, too. The new totalitarianism is getting a test run in the wake of COVID-19. Across the globe, every person must submit to "health and safety." So long as officials "can save just one life," any draconian policy is justified. In response, millions of Christians are refusing the 'rona vaccine for fear it's the Mark of the Beast. Their refusal has invited waves of weaponized condescension from dogmatic doctors and Rainbow Xians alike. On September 9, Joe Biden demanded that the entire nation receive the jab young or old, with or without natural immunity. Addressing unvaxxed Americans, the nominal Catholic warned, "We've been patient. But our patience is wearing thin." For many Christians of all races and nationalities, the supposed president's aggressive tone carried the weight of prophecy fulfilled. They see present-day history as manifesting the Bible's...

EU nation arrests politician following Donbass visit Signs of the Times

Estonian authorities announced on Friday that politician Aivo Peterson had been arrested on suspicion of activities against the state, along with two other individuals whose names were not released. The Baltic country's security service detained Peterson in the town of Narva-Joesuu, on the border with Russia. Two Estonian citizens and one Russian national with permanent residence were detained, Security Police spokesman Harrys Puusepp confirmed to local media, identifying only Peterson by name. Puusepp did not offer any details about the charges against them, saying only that the state prosecutors were investigating them for "creating associations against the Estonian Republic." Peterson is a prominent member of Together (known in Estonian as Koos, and in Russian as Vmeste), a leftist political movement advocating the peaceful coexistence of Estonians and Russians. He ran for parliament as a candidate of the Estonian United Left in last week's election. His arrest amounts to...

Dad dresses as Julius Caesar at school board meeting to protest teacher's gender-fluid attire Signs of the Times

A Concord, New Hampshire father, who was banned from occupying an elementary school's property, dressed up as Julius Caesar at a school board meeting on Monday to drive his claims that a public school district is "facilitating gender confusion." Michael Guglielmo said: "I am Caesar. Julius Caesar of Rome, the emperor. I am also a female. Does anybody here believe that? That I am Julius Caesar? Anybody believe that? No, of course not. It's ridiculous." Guglielmo called for the suspension of both Concord School District Superintendent Kathleen Murphy and Christa McAuliffe Elementary School Principal Kristen Gallo for "facilitating gender confusion" by allowing an art teacher who identifies with the LGBTQ community to continue teaching in the elementary school. Guglielmo has been outspoken about the art teacher, Silas Allard, who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, for his decision to wear traditionally female clothing during the school day. He has also criticized Allard's...

Central bank digital currency is the endgame - part 1 Signs of the Times

Central bank digital currency (CBDC) will end human freedom. Don't fall for the assurances of safeguards, the promises of anonymity and of data protection. They are all deceptions and diversions to obscure the malevolent intent behind the global rollout of CBDC. Central Bank Digital Currency is the most comprehensive, far-reaching, authoritarian social control mechanism ever devised. Its "interoperability" will enable the CBDCs issued by various national central banks to be networked to form one, centralised global CBDC surveillance and control system. Should we allow it to prevail, CBDC will deliver the global governance of humanity into the hands of the bankers. CBDC is unlike any kind of "money" with which we are familiar. It is programmable and "smart contracts" can be written into its code to control the terms and conditions of the transaction. Policy decisions and broader policy agendas, restricting our lives as desired, can be enforced using CBDC without any need of...

Are humans becoming an extension of their machines? ChatGPT may have irrevocable consequences for learning and decision-making Signs of the Times

We already rely on digital crutches in numerous aspects of our lives - will we delegate even our essential faculties to AI? Mankind's modern trajectory has been defined by several inflection points. The invention of electricity, the light bulb, the telegraph system, the computer and the Internet, among others, have all signaled new irreversible milestones in our modus vivendi. The recent introduction of ChatGPT may, however, prove to be more than an inflection point. It, and AI models like it, may be a permanent disruptor to our way of life; their bloopers and Wokist tantrums notwithstanding. Chat GPT is now the fastest-growing consumer app in history. Within two months of its launch in November 2022, ChatGPT managed to garner more than 100 million users. Its developer OpenAI, which began with 375 employees and thin revenue, is now valued at $30 billion and counting.

Meteor fireball over Spain (March 12) Signs of the Times

This bright bolide was spotted over Spain on March 12, at 2:24 local time (equivalent to 1:24 universal time). The event was generated by a rock (a meteoroid) from an asteroid that hit the atmosphere at about 53,000 km/h. The fireball overflew the region of Madrid and the province of Segovia (Spain). It began at an altitude of about 74 km over the locality of Pedrezuela (Madrid), moved northwest, and ended at a height of around 33 km over Navalilla (province of Segovia). This bright meteor was recorded in the framework of the SMART project, operated by the Southwestern Europe Meteor Network (SWEMN) from the meteor-observing stations located at Huelva, La Hita (Toledo), Calar Alto, Sierra Nevada, La Sagra (Granada), and Sevilla. The event has been analyzed by the principal investigator of the SMART project: Dr. Jose M. Madiedo, from the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC).

America's small banks are crashing and the vultures will soon be circling Signs of the Times

Over the weekend, when parsing through the carnage sweeping the US banking sector, we analyzed (above) which banks are facing the highest deposit-run risk in the aftermath of the SIVB - and now SBNY - failures, and focused on a handful of names who have the bulk of their funding in the form of deposits - deposits which are now suddenly at risk amid what seems to be a major bank run. JPM's Michael Cembalest - whose bank is poised to benefit the most from the ongoing carnage - chimed in with the following chart, which added an additional axis looking at loans plus securities as a % of total deposits, but which after the new BTFP bailout facility is irrelevant since the Fed and TSY are effectively backstopping unrealized losses on securities.

If a fiction writer turned this in, it would be rejected as too obvious. It looks as if the book's point has been made. Bethany Mandel and Karol Markowicz are the authors of Stolen Youth: How Radicals Are Erasing Innocence and Indoctrinating a Generation, which as of this writing was Amazon's #1 bestseller in the Censorship & Politics category. Transgender activists are a lot like Pennywise the clown Signs of the Times

Ten years ago would you have ever thought we would be having this debate? Transsexual cosplay has somehow become the reigning social issue of our era, with trans activism taking precedence within government, public schools and even the corporate world. For reasons that defy logic the question of "trans rights" has superseded all other conflicts regarding civil liberties. A group that comprises less than 0.5% of the US population has been dictating the national discussion. Not only that, but there is reasonable suspicion that a majority of these people are not actually "trans" but are simply joining what they see as an opportunistic trend. Perhaps it's to get attention they feel they are entitled to. Perhaps it is a way to feel as if they are a part of something historically meaningful as they do little else with their lives. Perhaps it is a play to get special treatment and special protection under victim group status. Becoming trans is, after all, the easiest way for an otherwise...

A peer-reviewed paper initially approved and praised by a prestigious academic journal was suddenly rescinded without explanation. Its author, one of the world's top scholars on Ukraine-related issues, had marshaled overwhelming evidence to conclude Maidan protesters were killed by pro-coup snipers. The massacre by snipers of anti-government activists and police officers in Kiev's Maidan Square in late February 2014 was a defining moment in the US-orchestrated overthrow of Ukraine's elected government. The death of 70 protesters triggered an avalanche of international outrage that made President Viktor Yanukovych's downfall a fait accompli. Yet today these killings remain unsolved. Enter Ivan Katchanovski, a Ukrainian-Canadian political scientist at the University of Ottawa. For years, he marshaled overwhelming evidence demonstrating that the snipers were not affiliated with Yanukovych's government, but pro-Maidan operatives firing from protester-occupied buildings.

Biden emphasizes U.S. banking system is safe [just like the vaccine] CLG News

Biden emphasizes U.S. banking system is safe [just like the vaccine] | 13 March 2023 | Joe Biden addressed the nation Monday to assure Americans that the banking system is safe after the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank. In his speech, he highlighted the immediate action that his administration has taken. Customers' deposits will be protected: Customers will "have access to their money as of today. That includes small businesses across the country that bank there and need to make payroll, pay their bills and stay open for business," Biden said, adding that no losses will be suffered by the taxpayers. "Instead, the money will come from the fees that banks pay into the deposit insurance fund," he explained. The management of these banks will be fired: "If the bank is taken over by FDIC, the people running the bank should not work there anymore," Biden said. Investors in the banks will not be protected: "They knowingly took a risk and when the risk didn't pay off, investors lose their money. That's how capitalism works," Biden added.

Australian town engulfed by record-breaking flood Signs of the Times

The flood, triggered by heavy rain over the past week, is worst in the remote Gulf of Carpentaria town of Burketown, about 1,300 miles northwest of state capital Brisbane. Dan McKinlay, chief executive of the local council responsible for Burketown, said on Sunday that 97 residents had been airlifted out in the past 48 hours. Australia's Bureau of Meteorology predicted water levels in the area would peak on Sunday. It said the flood had already topped a March 2011 record of 22.2 feet. The crisis comes after frequent flooding in Australia's east over the last two years due to a multi-year La Nina weather event, including once-in-a-century floods that hit remote areas in the neighboring Northern Territory, in January.

Even Kissinger Wants Compromise: How Ukraine Became a Winner-Take-All Proposition MintPress News

As is the case of long wars, the warring parties and their affiliated media in the Russia-Ukraine conflict have painted each other using uncompromising language, making it nearly impossible to offer an unbiased view of the ongoing tragedy that has killed, wounded and expelled millions.

While it is understandable that wars of such horror and near complete disregard of the most basic human rights often heighten our sense of what we consider to be moral and just, parties involved and invested in such conflicts often manipulate morality for political and geopolitical reasons.

This same logic is underway in Ukraine. Both sides are adamant that nothing less than a complete victory is acceptable. The Ukrainian view is fully supported by western countries in word and deed as in tens of billions of modern weapons that have done little, aside from worsening an already bloody conflict.

The Russians hardly see their war in Ukraine as a war against Ukraine itself. In his speech delivered on the first anniversary of the war, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the war as an act of self-defense. They are the ones who started this war, and we are using our forces to put a stop to it, Putin said in a joint session of the Russian Parliament and Kremlin officials.

Members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have characterized the war using similar language. We are fighting Russia, Germanys Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said. Though the statement was withdrawn later on, Baerbock was actually being truthful: NATO and Russia are, indeed, at war.

The narratives of both sides, however, are so complex yet so polarized. To even attempt to offer a third view on the war, or even to approach the subject in a purely analytical manner immediately qualifies one to be biased. Each side defensible and consistent with international law. As a result, many reasonable people find themselves retreating in silence.

But is silence, in itself, an immoral position, especially during times of war and human suffering? It should be. In Islamic theology, it is accepted that anyone who refrains himself from speaking the truth is a mute devil.

This maxim is shared by most modern philosophies and political ideologies. Among many such statements addressing the matter, one of the most powerful assertions by African-American leader and preacher Martin Luther King Jr. is, The day we see truth and cease to speak is the day we begin to die.

Yet, there is no single truth on the Ukraine war that can remain fully truthful after being placed within a larger context. The war on Ukraine is indeed illegal, but the preceding civil war in Donbas and the violated Minsk agreements at the behest of Western powers as admitted by former German Chancellor Angela Merkel were also immoral and illegal. In fact, none of these acts can b...

US-Ukraine unity is cracking apart Signs of the Times

POLITICO reports there are growing differences between Washington and Kyiv. Over one year since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, there are growing differences between Washington and Kyiv on how to move forward in the conflict, POLITICO reported Sunday. One issue is over Bakhmut, the eastern Ukrainian city where Russian and Ukrainian forces have been locked in battle for over eight months. Biden administration officials think Ukraine has expended too many resources defending Bakhmut and worry it will impact their ability to launch a counteroffensive this spring, but officials in Kyiv have decided to keep fighting for the city.

Defending the Weelaunee Forest Dissident Voice

My creed of nonviolence is an extremely active force. It has no room for cowardice or even weakness. There is hope for a violent man to be some day non-violent, but there is none for a coward. I have, therefore, said more than once.that, if we do not know how to defend ourselves, our women and our places of worship by the force of suffering, i.e., nonviolence, we must, if we are men, be at least able to defend all these by fighting.

Though violence is not lawful, when it is offered in self-defence or for the defence of the defenceless, it is an act of bravery far better than cowardly submission.

We do want to drive out the beast in the man, but we do not want on that account to emasculate him. And in the process of finding his own status, the beast in him is bound now and again to put up his ugly appearance.

The world is not entirely governed by logic. Life itself involves some kind of violence and we have to choose the path of least violence.

Mohandas K. Gandhi, Between Cowardice and Violence

Earlier this week I participated in several actions in Atlanta during a Week of Action in defense of the South River Forest, also known as the Weelaunee Forest in honor of the Muscogee Creek people who lived there until they were departed in the Trail of Tears.1 The primary action which I helped to organize and participated in took place on March 6 when a group of mainly elders went to the Atlanta corporate headquarters and then five active construction worksites in Atlanta of the corporation Brasfield & Gorrie.

B & G is the company which, any day now, could begin construction of a $90 million, 85-or-more-acre concrete training complex for police in the Weelaunee Forest, which is adjacent to Black and brown residential neighborhoods. The intention is that it would become a major institution where police from around the country would come to be trained, leading to significant destruction of the several hundred acre forest and thousands of trees.

While at the Brasfield & Gorrie corporate headquarters where our group was demonstrating, a Cobb County police officer came by. As the designated police liaison I spoke to him. He initiated a conversation about Cop City and why it was so needed because, he said, the existing training police facility was so rundown, with leaks and mold. I responded, Why seriously damage an important forest? Why not renovate or tear down the existing building and build a new one on the existing police site? He didnt have much of an answer to either qu...

The Realities of the International Power Struggle Dissident Voice

Events continue to unfold at a quickening pace. Facing an alarming escalation in tensions around the world, we asked Michael T. Klare for his current thoughts.

Michael Klare is a Five Colleges professor of Peace and World Security Studies at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts; defense correspondent of The Nation magazine; and author of The Race for Whats Left: The Global Scramble for the Worlds Last Resources (2012), Rising Powers, Shrinking Planet: The New Geopolitics of Energy (2009), and Blood and Oil: The Dangers and Consequences of Americas Growing Dependence on Imported Petroleum (2000). He has a BA and MA from Columbia University, and a PhD from Union Institute & University.

We focus on the realities of the international power struggle unfolding in real time, specifically addressing the role of the U.S. in the tensions and its capacity to reduce them. We are looking for paradigm-shift ideas for improving the prospects for peace. His responses below of are exactly as he provided.

Here is what Michael had to say.

Q: We hear a lot of terms and acronyms bandied about. Deep State MIC FIRE sector ruling elite oligarchy neocons. Who actually defines and sets Americas geopolitical priorities and determines our foreign policy? Not officially. Not constitutionally. But de facto.

Michael T. Klare: From my experience, US foreign policy is set by what some have called the blob the unelected, bipartisan, self-replicating network of senior Washington policymakers (NSC, DoD, CIA) plus the chairs of the House and Senate Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees; engaged former generals, admirals, and ambassadors; major defense contractor lobbyists; and key think-tank and media pundits (usually interchangeable with the other categories).

Q: Weve had decades of international tensions. Recent developments have seen a sharp escalation in the potential for a major war. The U.S. apparently cannot be at peace. Threats against the homeland are allegedly increasing in number and severity. The trajectory of our relations with the rest of the world appears to be more confrontations, more enemies, more crises, more wars.

Is the world really that full...

Silicon Valley Bank and the Anti-Regulation Bank Lobby Dissident Voice

Before the financial collapse come the aggressive anti-regulation lobbyists. These are often of the same ilk: loathing anything resembling oversight, restriction, reporting and monitoring. They are incarnations of the frontier, symbolically toting guns and slaying the natives, seeking wealth beyond paper jottings, compliance and bureaucratic tedium.

The collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), for a period of time the preferred bank for start-ups, is the bitter fruit of that harvest. Three days prior to the second-largest failure of a US financial institution since the implosion of Washington Mutual (Wamu) in 2008, lobbyists for the banking sector had reason to gloat. They had the ears of a number of GOP lawmakers and were pressing the case that Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell had little reason to sharpen regulations in the industry.

As a matter of fact, the converse case was put: the financial environment was proving too stringent, and needed easing up. This effort built on gains made during the Trump administration, which saw the passing of the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act. Then House majority leader Kevin McCarthy was particularly keen on winding back elements of the Dodd-Frank banking measures introduced in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. In 2018, he got much of what he wished for.

Lobbyists for SVB were particularly aggressive in that endeavour, and even went so far as to seek exemptions from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the body responsible for insuring bank deposits in times of crisis and institutional oversight. Two former staffers for McCarthy so ...

Wha? Bill Gates criticizes idea of leading 'impoverished lifestyle' to address climate change Signs of the Times

Gates adds that it is not realistic to expect that the climate crisis could be addressed by personal choices such as giving up eating meat. Microsoft founder Bill Gates reiterated his view last week in the contentious debate about whether individual sacrifice can make a tangible difference in the fight against climate change, casting doubt on the idea that living an "impoverished lifestyle" or becoming a vegetarian could put a dent in rising greenhouse gas emissions. "In climate movements, you can get this 'Hey, we've been consuming too much,' and 'Hey, maybe we shouldn't travel anymore,'" Gates said last week in remarks delivered in India. "I don't think we can count on people living an impoverished lifestyle as a solution to climate."

Off Brand George Monbiot

Russell Brands grim trajectory shows us where politics is heading

By George Monbiot, published in the Guardian 10th March 2023

In 2014, the Guardian asked me to nominate my hero of the year. To some peoples surprise, I chose Russell Brand. I loved the way he energised young people who had been alienated from politics. I claimed, perhaps hyperbolically, he was the best thing that has happened to the left in years (in my defence, there wasnt, at the time, much competition).

Today, I can scarcely believe its the same man. Ive watched 50 of his recent videos, with growing incredulity. He appears to have switched from challenging injustice to conjuring phantoms. If, as I suspect it might, politics takes a very dark turn in the next few years, it will be partly as a result of people like Brand.

Its hard to decide which is most dispiriting: the stupidity of some of the theories he recites, or the lack of originality. He repeatedly says hes not a conspiracy theorist, but, to me, he certainly sounds like one.

In 2014, he was bursting with new ideas and creative ways of presenting them. Today, he wastes his talent on tired and discredited tales: endless iterations of the alleged evils of the World Economic Forum founder, Klaus Schwab, the Great Reset, Bill Gates, Nancy Pelosi, the former US chief medical adviser, Anthony Fauci, Covid vaccines, medical data, the World Health Organization, Pfizer, smart cities and the globalist masterplan.

His videos appear to promote natural immunity ahead of vaccines, and for a while pushed ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine as treatments for Covid (they arent).

He championed the Freedom Convoy that occupied Ottawa, which apparently stood proudly against the ...

Why SVB failed: The bank ignored one of the fundamentals of finance Fast Company

All of the recent bank failures at SVB, Silvergate, and Signature Bank, have one glaring thing in common.

If youre looking for reasons for the failure of Silicon Valley Bank, which was taken over by the FDIC last Friday after one of the biggest bank runs in U.S. history, one obvious culprit is the fact that the bank violated one of the elementary rules of finance: Always diversify. SVB became the 16th-largest bank in the country by turning itself into the financial institution of choice for Silicon Valley venture capitalists and the companies they funded. But in doing so, it also made itself exceptionally dependent on the health of the tech industry and on the choices of a relatively small number of VCs and company founders. That dependence is what made the bank so successful. Its also what helped destroy it.

SOTT FOCUS: NewsReal: US Govt in Deep Denial as New World Emerges Signs of the Times

The 'Covid Origins Story' reemerged recently with FBI Director Christopher Wray stating that the pandemic "most likely" stemmed from a "lab incident" in Wuhan, China. This energized Republicans' Covid probes, resulting in unanimous Congressional support for "publishing all government files on Covid's origins." If such happens, you can bet that all resulting "revelations" will be "dynamically shaped" to smear China. Together with "Balloon-gate," this is grist to the mill of "containing China," something President Xi of China this week, for the first time, explicitly stated is the US' "grand geopolitical strategy" for thwarting China's rise. Meanwhile, the Chinese government has brokered a tentative peace agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran, something the US had nothing to do with, and which signals diminishing American influence in the Middle East, the "energy spigot" of the whole world... What Are the Different Ways to Consume THCjd? The Event Chronicle

Do you want to gain your knowledge about thcjd from an experienced source? This article has all the information you need to know about how cannabis can be consumed. Youll want to use this piece as a handy reference guide when deciding.

What is thcjd?

The thcjd is a natural substance. It comes from the cannabis plant. You may not know that this plant has many different chemical variants or cannabinoids that are all unique and beneficial to the human body. Cannabinoids can be considered a class of compounds that interact with the endocannabinoid system in the body; This is one of the major groups of signaling molecules produced naturally in the body.

How many types of cannabinoids are there?

Source: healthline.com

There are two primary types of cannabinoids, and they are either psychoactive or non-psychoactive.

Psychoactive cannabinoids: These are cannabinoids that can get you high and alter your consciousness. This is why cannabis can be used for some medical treatments. The most common psychoactive cannabinoid is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is a cannabinoid that makes a person high.

Non-psychoactive cannabinoids: Cannabinoids are a group of compounds that are naturally found in the cannabis plant, and they are known to interact with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) in the human body. The ECS is a complex network of receptors and signaling molecules that plays a vital role in regulating various physiological processes, including pain, mood, appetite, and sleep.

While many people associate cannabinoids with the psychoactive effects of THC, the main psychoactive compound in cannabis, there are several non-psychoactive cannabinoids that are becoming increasingly popular for their potential health benefits.

Non-psychoactive cannabinoids, such as CBD (cannabidiol), CBG (cannabigerol), and CBC (cannabichromene), do not produce the characteristic high associated with THC. Instead, they interact with the ECS in a different way. They bind to the same receptors as THC, but they do not activate them. Instead, they block other cannabinoids from binding to these...

The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) The Black Vault

Background

HAARP

The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) is an ionospheric research program jointly funded by the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Navy, the University of Alaska, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Designed and built by BAE Advanced Technologies (BAEAT), its purpose is to analyze the ionosphere and investigate the potential for developing ionospheric enhancement technology for radio communications and surveillance. The HAARP program operates a major sub-arctic facility, named the HAARP Research Station, on an Air Forceowned site near Gakona, Alaska.

HAARP has been the topic of conspiracy theories for quite some time, which range from HAARP being capable of modifying weather, disabling satellites and exerting mind control over people, and that it was being used as a weapon against terrorists. Such theories blamed the program for causing earthquakes, droughts, storms and floods, diseases such as Gulf War Syndrome and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the 1996 crash of TWA Flight 800, and the 2003 destruction of the space shuttle Columbia.

Below are documents obtained about HAARP, and are archived here for research and are listed in chronological order of report date.

How to Make Peace with Canada Geese Terra Forming Terra

Ah yes.  We live along side them and they are no real threat unless you push it.  They are more visible than raccoons or coyotes in particular.  All have found living about us much better than out in the wilderness.

Eventually we will have to collect and harvest a portion every year to keep it cool.  It may be a simple as collecting goslings and feeding them up to harvest weight.  Things like that need to happen that way in order to provide salable meat.  Likely we need to so the same with many other critters.

Deer are also tentavely moving in as well.  The best solution for them is to come in during the night to evade preditors.  They are quite likely to figure this out because we get nervous if a wolf or mountain lion comes on in.

I do recall how in the amozon, a native village needed to move out to a new location.  Coming with them was an actual menagerie of the local wildlife who depended on them for protection from the nightly visits of Jaguars.

We have way to go yet, but do not be surprised.  Now we know why house cats moved in.  plenty of vemin to eat and protection from bigger cats.

In the quest to combat Alzheimer's disease, researchers have been hopeful about the use of antibodies to destroy peptides in the brain that cause damaging tangles and plaque buildups. So far though, such treatments have been unsuccessful. Postulating that the issue had to do with the antibodies getting blocked by the blood-brain barrier, scientists have found a way to sneak them into the brains of mice afflicted with the disease, and have seen encouraging results.

This is actually huge because we do not understand that bioavailable hydrogen is a natural side product of bioavailable oxygen which we do not know how to measure either.  Obviously this can fuel a real battery revolution by producing ample direct current simply from any biologically active water.  As in all water except maybe tap water.

Do not ovethink this guys.  Just make it work handily.

Ample direct current gets us all off the grid fro at least many of our applications and if actually robust enough, perhaps heat as well.  This potential is real.

The Myth of Fair Value Armstrong Economics

QUESTION: If the metals are not trading at a fair value relative to everything else, then does that not prove they are manipulated?

SN

ANSWER: Your problem is the assumption that everything must be trading at some fair value. That is up there with the theory of random walks.  ALL markets trade for periods where they remain well below fair value. That was the entire takeover boom of the 1980s which they also blamed on me because I was advising many of the takeover players. I simply showed these charts back then which show in terms of book value, the Dow Jones bottomed in 1977. The market was grossly undervalued because you could buy a company, sell all its tangible assets, and double or triple your money. Michael Douglas famous speech in that movie about greed would not even be possible if everything always trade like some mythical robot at fair value. Everything overshoots and undershoots.

When the House Votes Unanimously Armstrong Economics

When the House votes unanimously, there is usually a larger issue at play. It was announced on Friday that the US House of Representatives and the Senate unanimously agreed to declassify information regarding the origins of COVID. Let us recall that one side of the political spectrum effectively shut down the entire economy and used the people as puppets to push forth their COVID agenda of vaccinations and lockdowns. When the House votes unanimously, one must look closer at the agenda on the macro level.

The decision to declassify the origins of COVID will likely not lead to the arrest of Fauci, Gates, Soros, or any of the other big players who advised on policies that directly harmed the people and economy. The pharmaceutical companies will not be charged for injecting countless people with an experimental substance, and the powers who enforced vaccine mandates will be blameless. Again, one side of the political spectrum supported the harshest COVID laws imaginable, and revealing the truth behind the virus would be detrimental to their party. So why the unanimous vote?

When the house votes unanimously, there is a common enemy. It is no secret that the US is instigating China to enter World War III. As I mentioned in a separate post, Western intelligence agencies are threatening China for conspiring to supply Moscow with aid, despite having no known leads. China is attempting to remain neutral, but anti-Chinese sentiment is subtly rising in the mainstream media. It was almost illegal to say that the virus was deliberately leaked from a lab in Wuhan. Trump was called a racist for calling COVID the China virus, and anyone who mentioned a lab leak on social media was immediately deplatformed.

The West Threatens China for Conspiring with Moscow Armstrong Economics

China has maintained neutrality throughout the 13-month conflict between Russia and Ukraine/the West. Yet, Western powers continue to threaten China and allege they are conspiring to send aid to Russia. The heightened attacks on China make one question if Western powers are deliberately instigating a fight. CIA Director William Burns said he is confident China is CONSPIRING to send military aid to Russia, although there is no evidence of actual shipments of lethal equipment.

White House National Security Advisor and Neocon Jake Sullivan has had harsh words for China in recent appearances. Sullivan boldly stated that aiding Russia would be a bad mistake for China, and that the US plans to send China a strong message. Again, China has done nothing wrong. There is no evidence of China supplying aid to Russia, and even if they did, that is not a crime, as Ukraine is not a NATO member.

C-Level Executives Sold Shares Weeks Before SVB Failed Armstrong Economics

A bank failure of this proportion has not been seen since 2008 when Washington Mutual failed. The majority of deposits in Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) are uninsured, meaning the FDICs $250,000 protection does not apply. Uninsured depositors will be provided receivership certificates and should receive an advanced dividend this week. The FDIC must sell off the remaining assets of SVC to determine how much it can provide to those uninsured depositors. The FDIC is encouraging borrowers to continue paying their existing loans. The bank was said to host $209 billion in assets and $175.4 billion in deposits as of December 2022. Washington Mutual held around $307 billion in assets when it went down.

Tons of people and businesses will be completely screwed over. Who could have seen it coming? Silicon Valley Bank CEO, CFO, and CMO sold off millions in stock over the past two weeks. President and CEO Greg Becker sold 12,451 shares on February 27 for $3.6 million at $287.42 per share. Later that day, he purchased options for the same amount of shares at $105.18 a piece. He did the same thing in December 2021, as this is not an uncommon albeit unethical practice. Banks commonly trade against their own clients. Becker sold about $3.57 million worth of SVB stock over the past two weeks and is now making TV appearances saying he did not see this coming.

Of course, - , which is forever bullish metals, claims they moved the metals in the direction they wanted from 2008 to 2014. It just seems that people claim it is always manipulation when they have been wrong. They only look at gold in dollars as you have said its a global market. They would have to manipulate all the currencies as well.

This latest affair of so-called manipulating trades during the day proves what you have been saying. They have always been gunning for stops during the day, but they cannot manipulate the trend between a bull or bear market. Do you think people will ever understand this is a global economy?

The future of live performance is already here Fast Company

Orchestras at the Juilliard Schools Tianjin, China, and New York City campuses played a perfectly synchronized concert togetherwhile 7,000 miles apart.

The piano went first. Two notes in C, one octave apart, played over and over and over again, like the trusty beat of a metronome. Then came the violins, and the flutes, and the trumpets, and, slowly, almost imperceptibly, the music crescendoed from the lips and fingers of 40 musicians playing in unison.

The hidden security clauses of the Iran-Saudi deal Signs of the Times

The Cradle reveals confidential clauses of the agreement struck between Tehran and Riyadh, which was reached courtesy of Beijing. Under Chinese auspices, on 10 March in Beijing, longtime regional competitors Iran and Saudi Arabia reached an agreement to restore diplomatic relations, after a break of seven years. In its most optimistic reading, the deal can be seen as a historic strategic agreement, reflecting major changes underway in West Asia and the world. At worst, it can be characterized as an "armistice agreement" between two important rivals, that will provide a valuable space for direct, regular communications. The Sino-Saudi-Iranian joint statement on Friday carried strong implications beyond the announcement of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Tehran and Riyadh, severed since 2016. The statement is very clear: The embassies of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic Iran will reopen in less than two months. Respect for the sovereignty of States. Activating...

US regulators unveiled emergency measures on Sunday to shore up the banking system and took control of another bank, as they moved to stem contagion from the implosion of Silicon Valley Bank. The Federal Reserve announced a new lending facility aimed at providing additional funding to eligible depository institutions to ensure that "banks have the ability to meet the needs of all their depositors". In a statement, the US central bank added it was "prepared to address any liquidity pressures that may arise". The facility is part of a broader effort by regulators, including Treasury secretary Janet Yellen, Fed chair Jay Powell and Martin Gruenberg of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, to reassure customers that their money is safe.

The Regulators perhaps saw the handwriting on the wall. This NO BAILOUT claiming that no taxpayer money will be used for a bailout of their hated rich, how about just using the taxpayers money you are throwing down the train in Ukraine?  Depositors in Signature and SVB they are now saying would be made whole. If they do not cover ALL deposits, the monumental banking failure will be catastrophic.

Cryptocurrency industry lobbying and political contributions skyrocketed in 2022 Original Journalism from OpenSecrets News

The cryptocurrency industry has ramped up its lobbying spending and political contributions. (Photo illustration by Chesnot/Getty Images)

March 12-18 is Sunshine Week, an annual celebration aimed at promoting transparency. This story is part of a series highlighting OpenSecrets work to shine a light on key areas related to money in politics at the state and federal level.

The cryptocurrency industry vastly expanded its political influence web with federal lobbying spending exploding to a whopping $21.6 million in 2022, an OpenSecrets analysis of federal lobbying data found.

The crypto industrys 2022 federal lobbying spending represents an increase of more than twice the roughly $8.3 million it spent in 2021 and over eight times the $2.5 million it spent in 2020. The number of crypto clients spending on lobbying also increased from 18 in 2020 to 56 in 2022.

Congress has gained momentum on digital asset regulations, spurred in part by the sensational collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange platform FTX and federal charges filed against its former CEO, political megadonor Sam Bankman-Fried. But Bankman-Fried and FTX are just a small slice of a much larger industry originally conceived as a decentralized alternative to the traditional centralized banking system thats been pushing regulatory priorities on Capitol Hill.

Biden expected to approve enormous oil drilling project in blow to climate activists: 'Complete betrayal' Signs of the Times

The Biden administration is expected to soon push ahead with a massive northern Alaska oil drilling project that is forecasted to create thousands of jobs and 600 million barrels of oil over its 30-year lifespan, according to multiple reports. Senior administration officials have signed off on three of the five drilling sites proposed by oil company ConocoPhillips as part of its Willow Project in the National Petroleum Reserve located in North Slope Borough, Alaska, Bloomberg reported Friday evening. ConocoPhillips previously stated that, for the project to remain economic viability, the federal government would need to approve at least three of the sites. The Department of Interior (DOI) will publish the final decision on the Willow Project, but President Biden and senior White House officials have been actively involved in overseeing the approval process. Industry groups, Alaska lawmakers and local communities urged the president to approve the project for its economic benefits...

Absent 'friends': What Ukraine could learn from a new report about the US withdrawal from Afghanistan Signs of the Times

The American exit from Kabul might be taste of the future for officials in Kiev... In the spirit of better late than never, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) has published an extensive investigation into the collapse of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) following the US withdrawal from Kabul in August 2021. The report not only offers, at-times shocking, detail on the level of Washington's betrayal, but important lessons for America's international allies today. If only you knew how bad things really are The ANDSF's collapse was quite a sight to behold. The vast fighting force, constructed at a cost of $90 billion over 20 years, seemed to vanish even faster than the American aircraft escaping Kabul airport. This is despite US officials endlessly claiming in the leadup to the West's wholesale pullout from Afghanistan that the government was more than capable of defending itself without foreign support. However, SIGAR's...

US-funded biological research laboratories are continuing to operate in Ukraine in spite of official statements indicating that they had been 'deactivated', the Russian Defense Ministry said in a Friday report on Washington's international pathogen research programs. According to the commander of Russia's Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, Moscow has obtained documents that suggest Kiev has continued to coordinate with the Pentagon in the military biological field, including the transfer of pathogenic biomaterials. Kirillov pointed to an official appeal from 'ch2m-hill' - a key Pentagon contractor - to Ukrainian companies participating in a "program to counter particularly dangerous pathogens in Ukraine." The document reports on the continuation of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency's (DTRA) biological program in Ukraine and outlines future tasks, such as consolidating collections of dangerous pathogens and deploying systems for...

Tucker Carlson: Silicon Valley Bank has gone completely under, and the Biden admin doesn't seem to care Signs of the Times

We are starting to get a better, a more precise sense of what it means when Joe Biden brags about the strongest and most equitable economic recovery in modern history. What it means is it could be time to buy gold and stockpile food. Oh, there's a deal on Russian steel case and then go pick up a pallet. Just kidding, sort of. Yesterday, some of the biggest banks in this country, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley collectively lost more than $50 billion in market value in one day. That's quite a hit. On the other hand, those banks still exist, and you can't say that for Silicon Valley Bank. As of this morning, Silicon Valley Bank or SVB has gone under completely. That makes the second-biggest bank failure in the history of this country, and that's significant. SVB financed nearly half of all venture-backed health care and technology companies in the United States. It also apparently held significant cash reserves for some of the biggest cryptocurrencies, and it's...

Ukraine moves to seize historic monastery Signs of the Times

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) was informed on Friday that its monks and clergy had until March 29 to vacate the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, after a government commission decided they were violating the terms of their lease from the state. The church has refused, saying there are no legal grounds for the eviction. Founded in 1051, the Pechersk Lavra ('monastery of the caves') is considered the most prominent Orthodox Christian site in Ukraine. Legally it is the property of the state, as a national historic preserve, and administered by the UOC under a 2013 agreement with the government. According to a memo from the Ministry of Culture, published by multiple Ukrainian outlets, a commission established by President Vladimir Zelensky's decree in December had determined that the UOC is in violation of the deal, and therefore must turn the monastery over by the end of March. The UOC does not intend to leave, however. Its head, Metropolitan Kliment, told the outlet Liga: "The document does...

Autopsy Suggests Link Between COVID-19 Vaccine and Encephalitis in Brain in Case of German Death CLG News

Autopsy Suggests Link Between COVID-19 Vaccine and Encephalitis in Brain in Case of German Death | 3 March 2023 | A case study reported in the peer-viewed journal Vaccine found that a patient who had Parkinson's Disease and who died after receiving his third Covid-19 vaccination had developed necrotizing encephalitis in the brain and spike proteins from the vaccine were present in the location of the inflammation. The paper said that while "numerous" cases of encephalitis "have been reported in connection with the gene-based COVID-19 vaccines," this was "the first report to demonstrate the presence of the spike protein within the encephalitic lesions and to attribute it to vaccination rather than infection." Dr Michael Mrz, a researcher in Pathology at Hospital Dresden-Friedrichstadt, in Germany, wrote that the family of a 76-year-old patient with Parkinson's Disease, who died three weeks after receiving his third Covid-19 vaccination, had "requested an autopsy due to ambiguous clinical signs before death." The patient was first vaccinated in May 2021 with the Astra Zeneca vector vaccine, followed by two doses of the Pfizer mRNA vaccine in July and December 2021.

Creating Culture on the Fly Dissident Voice

A Hunter-Gatherers Guide to the 21st Century: Evolution and the Challenges of Modern Life, by Heather Heying and Bret Weinstein, is an ambitious work like The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity by David Graeber and David Wengrow building on the radical anthropology of prehistoric man, and Graham Hancocks Netflix series Ancient Apocalypse, promising a radical rethink of both the how and why of Homo sapiens. We need a new old vision, linking us with the 80% of our history that preceded private property, slavery, war, and, oh yes, cities.

Evolutionary biologists Heather Heying and Bret Weinstein use Chestertons fence as their central metaphor: try to understand things before changing them.

By disregarding the facts of evolved human nature, they argue, the modern world in all its novelty has destroyed the proverbial fence, leaving us miserable, sick and heading for social collapse. We eat junk food, prescribe too many drugs, raise and educate our children badly. Heying and Weinstein provide evolutionary advice to confront the mismatch between stone-age brains and hi-tech society.

They are not afraid of controversy, resigning from Evergreen College in Washington State in 2017, in a dramatic defiance of student radicals who were bringing the college to a halt. They accused them of immaturity, of being WEIRD (see below). But apparently they were adored by many students for their wild adventures in the jungle instead of sterile boxes removed from the world, one describing their classroom as an ancestral mode for which I was primed, but didnt even know existed.

The US Should be ASHAMED of What Theyre Doing in Syria Dissident Voice

The House of Representatives voted not to end the U.S. occupation of Syria on Wednesday. This is disappointing but not surprising. Although all is not lost, 103 leaders voted for it with 56 Democrats joining 47 Republicans to vote in favor of the bill, showing that there is at least some appetite for peace. Opponents of the bill said that they feared that troop withdrawal would revive terrorist groups n the region. Which is a good joke because the U.S. has backed terrorists groups in the region by supporting the al-Qaeda affiliated al-Nusra since the Obama administration.

The world's oldest swords discovered in Turkey Signs of the Times

The 5,000-year-old swords found 43 years ago during the excavations in the old mud-brick palace structure in Malatya Arslantepe Mound are the oldest swords in the world. Many archaeologists believed that the earliest swords only dated to around 1600 or 1500 BCE before the discovery of a cache of swords at the archaeological site of Arslantepe in Turkey. The nine swords from the archaeological site of Arslantepe (Melid) attest to the use of this weapon for the first time in the world - at least a millennium before the already-known examples. They date back to the Early Bronze Age (c. 33rd to 31st centuries). In the 1980s, Marcella Frangipane's team at Rome University discovered a cache of nine swords and daggers dating all the way back to 3300 BCE. Frangipane declared the swords of Arslantepe the world's oldest and first swords ever discovered. They are made of an alloy of arsenic and copper. Three of the swords were exquisitely inlaid with silver. These weapons have a total length...

Battling Cancel Culture at Adelaide Writers Week Dissident Voice

Writing festivals are often tired, stilted affairs, but the 38th Adelaide Writers Week did not promise to be that run-of-the-mill gathering of yawn-inducing, life draining sessions. For one thing, social media vultures and public relations experts, awaiting the next freely explosive remark or unguarded comment, were at hand to stir the pot and exhort cancel culture.

The fuss began with the festival organisers invitation of two Palestinian authors, Susan Abulhawa and Mohammed El-Kurd. Abulhawa was specifically targeted for critical comments on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, notably regarding NATO membership, and for being a mouthpiece of Russian propaganda, while El-Kurd has been singled out for social-media commentary on the Israeli state, calling it sadistic, demonic and a death cult.

Righteously, the South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas showed his less than worldly view on such festivals by insisting on boycotting their talks and presentations. Ever the vote-getting politician, there were those constituents at the Association of Ukrainians in South Australia who had been making noise, notably through their president, Frank Fursenko. We are very concerned that [the festival organisers] are giving a platform to people who are known apologists for the Russian invasion of Ukraine, insisted Fursenko.

Malinauskas even contemplated pulling government funding from the event, something he declared at his address opening Writers Week. (This was also the view of the South Australian opposition leader, David Speirs.) The premier, it should be noted, is less morally troubled when it comes to funding the LIV Golf tournament, backed by the obscurantist journalist-assassinating regime of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

At the very least, he made some concession to maturity: refusing to listen to someones viewpoint also involved surrendering the opportunity to challenge it, much less change their mind. But for all that Abulhawas presence at the Writers Week had to be actively questioned.

"Never Seen In Over 40 Years" - SVB Collapse Sparks Bank Runs As People Wait In Lines BlackListed News

Friday morning's seizure of Silicon Valley Bank by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) underscores the banking sector's vulnerability, exposing the Federal Reserve's lack of foresight in combating inflation through aggressive interest rate hikes that have caused regional banks to crumble. As venture capitalists and others with inside knowledge panicked and withdrew a staggering $42 billion in deposits before SVB's collapse, an old-fashioned bank run reminiscent of the one in the classic 1946 film "It's a Wonderful Life" has ensued, involving ordinary people.

Faucis successor at NIAID is a partisan democrat activist linked to gain of function cover up operation BlackListed News

Hugh Auchincloss served as Anthony Fauci's right hand man for almost two decades, and he is currently the top bureaucrat at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). With the Biden Administration showing seemingly no interest in appointing a new NIAID chief, Auchincloss has inherited his post in semi-permanent fashion. His role now includes being the chief decision maker for directing billions of taxpayer dollars into the coffers of research institutes and pharmaceutical companies. And with all of the attention turned to the semi-retired Dr Fauci, Auchincloss has been able to operate as the NIAIDs new head honcho without even a hint of a vetting process.

Western media: Chinese city many implement lockdowns for the FLU - Local officials spark fury by warning Xi'an may be shut down to quell outbreaks of common virus Signs of the Times

Chinese officials want to bring in lockdowns to combat the flu, leaving many furious about a prospect of returning to the strict restrictions seen during the Covid-19 outbreak. The city of Xi'an, in Shaanxi Province in central China, said it may enforce lockdowns 'when necessary' if an outbreak of the common flu virus poses a 'severe threat'. The emergency response plan for the city published on Wednesday is intended to combat the rising number of influenza cases in the country, as Covid-19 cases continue to fall. Authorities in the Chinese city have not suggested that a new set of lockdowns are imminent, but locals in the area have still dubbed the plans excessive. China's zero-Covid lockdown plans were implemented throughout the country during the pandemic and were seen as extreme by many. The plan by the Xi'an local government accounts for four levels of flu outbreak. If the common virus was to reach a critically high level, lockdowns would likely be reinstated.
