Latvia - Augdaugava communities isolated after Daugava river floods Signs of the Times

Local authorities in the Augdaugava Municipality in southern Latvia have requested a state of emergency due to severe flooding along the Daugava River and tributaries since late March 2023. Flooding has also affected several regions in neighbouring Belarus. At least 8 roads in Augdaugava Municipality, Latvia, are underwater, leaving communities isolated and children unable to attend school. Images from Latvia's State Fire and Rescue Service (Valsts ugunsdzsbas un glbanas dienests - VUGD) showed dozens of buildings in residential areas have been flooded. The Augdaugava municipality has asked the national government to declare a state of emergency. Some evacuations were reported but exact details and numbers had not yet been released by the local authorities, as of 03 April. Recent rainfall and melting snow in southern parts of the country and the bordering country of Belarus caused rivers in the Daugava basin to rise from late March.

Netanyahus Power Grab Is Shattering the Myth of a United, Democratic Israel MintPress News

A few observations on things surrounding the issue of Israel. For reasons that are hard to understand at this point, the rapprochement between Iran and Saudi Arabia has had very little mention in the Israeli press. Considering its importance and potential impact on the region, it is difficult to see how Israel is hardly moved by this development. There was an expectation that Saudi Arabia would normalize relations with Israel. However, now the kingdom not only has not done so, but they are also building bridges with Iran, Israels biggest nemesis. It is a slap in the face of the U.S. and Israel and may soon be seen as diplomatic and intelligence failures of epic proportions.

The American attitude towards Israel has been consistently supportive, and of course, it is expected that it will continue to be supportive in the foreseeable future. $3.8 billion goes to Israel uninterrupted, even though Amnesty International has labeled it an apartheid regime. In fact, the U.S. support for Israel is not just aid; it is complicity in crimes against humanity as Israel continues to oppress the Palestinians.

Governments around the world discuss recognizing Palestine within the borders of 1967 and some have already done so. However, the borders were created by Israel and have nothing to do with Palestine. Recognizing Palestine within these borders only legitimizes the Israeli crimes of 1948. There is one Palestine, and its borders are clear: the Jordan River in the east and the Mediterranean in the west. Palestine borders Syria and Lebanon in the north and the Gulf of Aqaba in the South.

Any recognition of a part of Palestine is really a recognition and legitimization of the apartheid state of Israel. If the U.K. or any other government was serious about supporting the Palestinian cause, they would recognize Palestine in all of historic Palestine and would support the fight to bring down the apartheid regime.

Judicial reforms

The reforms that the Netanyahu government wants to pass touch on issues that relate only to the privileged class of Israeli Jews within the apartheid regime. They take away the ability of the high court to strike down undemocratic laws and allow politicians to have more control over the selection of judges. It is an undemocratic reform, to be sure, but we have to remember that Israel was never a democratic state. It was always as we are told by the Amnesty report a regime of apartheid, committing a crime against humanity towards the Pa...

Where To Find Inmate Information: Tips And Resources For Conducting An Inmate Search The Event Chronicle

One might have some known or loved one who has been in prison, and it is challenging to find their whereabouts, details, and other things once they are held in any institution such as prison. Sometimes the process is complex, while other times, people do not have accurate information on how to find the inmate details. This article will help you to know the basic tips and resources for conducting an inmate search properly.

Various resources can be used for an inmate search Dallas county and other prisons. Lets discuss and learn about them in this article so that next time you have issues with finding inmates in jail or someone you know finds it difficult to locate an inmate, you can help them and know exactly what to do in such situations.

Why Is It Difficult To Search For An Inmate?

There are various reasons why searching for an inmate in prison is difficult. Some of the reasons are as follows:

1. A Proper Database Is Unavailable

Source: montgomeryadvertiser.com

A proper database containing all the information about the inmates is not present in some prisons, making it difficult to search for an inmate in such prisons. Even if someone wants to search for the details of an inmate, the lack of a proper database will not allow them to get the required information.

Apart from that, even if the information is available, sometimes it is not accessible to everyone, which is also a problem because, in that case, you have to report to higher authorities and ask for such information, which can cause a lot of complications. It is important to keep such information available to the public.

2. Wrong Information In The Database

Below are some of the recent snow totals reported to the National Weather Service offices in Gaylord and Marquette. "As the record-setting snowfall event comes to a close, here are some of the highest snowfall reports we have received," the NWS meteorologists in Gaylord said, referencing the snow totals roundup being shared in the photo below. Game Based Learning With Minecraft- 4 Benefits The Event Chronicle

Do you know what Minecraft skins are? If you havent, relax; youre not the only one. But did you know that using Minecraft skins in the classroom can improve student learning?

Thats true, Minecraft can be a useful instrument for game-based learning in addition to being an enjoyable game. Without having experience in game design, you can make educational games for the classroom using Minecraft. In this essay, well look at how Minecraft can promote deeper and more engaged learning while also making learning more entertaining and game-like.

In essence, Minecraft skins are the patterns or attire you can apply to your character in the game to give them a distinctive appearance.

1. Ready Adaptability

Source: adria.ign.com

The ability to readily adapt Minecraft to your needs is one of its many wonderful features. You can make your universe and populate it with your special problems and pursuits. To complement the topic of your educational game, you may also develop your custom Minecraft skins. For instance, you could design Minecraft skins that mimic Egyptian pharaohs or hieroglyphics if you were conducting a history lesson on ancient Egypt.

You may provide your pupils with a more enjoyable and memorable learning experience by using Minecraft skins and other customizations. They can truly explore and engage with history in a virtual world rather than just reading about it. Students can absorb information much more effectively and gain a deeper comprehension of the subject matter when they engage in this kind of immersion learning.

2. Game Mechanics

Incorporating game mechanics into your lesson planning is another approach to using Minecraft to make learning more like playing a game. There are several different game mechanics in Minecraft, including resource collection, crafting, and battle. You...

First ancient DNA from the Swahili civilization discovered by researcher Signs of the Times

A University of South Florida anthropologist has uncovered the first ancient DNA from the Swahili Civilization, prosperous trading states along the coast of East Africa dating back to the 7th century. From Kenya to Mozambique, Chapurukha Kusimba, a USF professor of anthropology, dedicated 40 years to studying the ancestry of those who built the civilizations - a debate that many Swahilis feel robbed them of their heritage for centuries. "This research has been my life's work - this journey to recover the past of the Swahili and restore them to rightful citizenship," Kusimba said. "These findings bring out the African contributions, and indeed, the Africanness of the Swahili, without marginalizing the Persian and Indian connection." Published in Nature, this work examines the DNA of 80 individuals from as long as 800 years ago - making it the first ancient DNA uncovered from the Swahili Civilization. As part of his decades-long research, Kusimba, a Kenya native, spent time with the...

This is actually nasty news as we need vto discover how bad it can be and can it be reversed or at least ameliorated.  The good news is that we now know that the VACCINE is a profound long lasting killer.

It is also an AIDS varient which means direct damage to the immune system, but not necessarily progressive.  By the way, this Vaccine was never a protection against COVID nor was it ever meant to be.  It was a lie top to bottom and a continuing part of something even bigger..

Even Machine Brains Need Sleep Terra Forming Terra

This is profound and confirms what we have suspected about sleep.  I wonder if all those new imports are actually checked against future needs by actually looki0ng up future pages of TIME.

It would make great sense to do just that if that capacity is possible.

It is really handy if we can remember the future and doing so as part of memory consolidation is likely the most practical way to do it.  Yet this also suggersts that real time consolidation is good enough for most day to day problems.

Even Machine Brains Need Sleep

Without some downtime, artificial neural networks become catastrophically forgetful.

BY KATHERINE HARMON COURAGE
March 15, 2023

https://nautil.us/even-machine-brains-need-sleep-288191/

We all might wish for minds as retentive as a hard drive. Memory file created. Saved. Ready for access at any time. But dont yet go wishing for the memory performance of AI.

Artificial neural networks are prone to a troublesome glitch known, evocatively, as catastrophic forgetting. These seemingly tireless networks can keep learning tasks day and night. But sometimes, once a new task is learned, any recollection of an old task vanishes. Its as if you learned to play tennis decently well, but after being taught to play water polo, you suddenly had no recollection of how to swing a racket.

This apparent network overload put an idea in the head of Maxim Bazhenov, a professor who studies computational neuroscience and sleep at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine. Perhaps the spiking neural networks he was working with simply needed a rest.

In natural sleep, he had seen that the same basic brain processes occur in humans and in honeybees, working over information accumulated during waking moments. That machinery presumably was doing something useful in order to be conserved across evolutionary paths, he says. So, he thought, why not try a similar state for the machines.

How Does ChatGPT Differ From Socrates? A reader asked ChatGPT this exact question, and here is the response:

As an AI language model, I differ from the Socrates Platform in several ways.

Firstly, the Socrates Platform is a web-based platform developed by Martin Armstrong and his team at Armstrong Economics, whereas I am a language model developed by OpenAI. The Socrates Platform is designed to analyze economic and financial data in real-time, predict market trends, and provide actionable insights to investors and traders. In contrast, I am designed to assist with a wide range of tasks, including language translation, question answering, and text generation.

Secondly, the Socrates Platform uses artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing to analyze data, whereas I am primarily focused on natural language processing. The Socrates Platform uses sophisticated algorithms to analyze historical and cultural data to inform its predictions, whereas my responses are based on the input provided to me by the user.

Lastly, the Socrates Platform is primarily designed for financial professionals, investors, and traders, whereas I am designed for a broader range of users, including students, researchers, and general knowledge seekers. What stands out are the logos. One of the most basic steps a startup looking to position itself can take is to adopt a logo that clearly marks it as an AI business. Just as a red-white-and-blue barbers pole indicates a place to get a haircut without making any particular claims as to the haircut youll get, todays AI logos seem more concerned with signaling membership in the industry than projecting a distinctive brand image.

Is AI Dangerous? Armstrong Economics

Back in 2015, I addressed the concern then of Stephen Hawking and Elon Musk who were worried about what might happen as a result of advancements in Artificial Intelligence. Theyre concerned that robots could grow so intelligent that they could independently decide to exterminate humans. Today, it has only gotten worse with GPT-4 open for everyone to try. In doing so, they are training the computer and expanding its knowledge base. Musk, with a gaggle of others, have penned a letter calling for a pause in AI development.

Powerful AI systems should be developed only once we are confident that their effects will be positive and their risks will be manageable.

I have tinkered with AI since the early 1970s. There is no doubt these guys are influenced by concepts like in the movies Terminator and the Matrix. But from a real-world programming side, to outdo human thinking is easy. A computer model can far surpass humans in so many ways. What we have done in finance is unparalleled, but the key here in our system was to ELIMINATE human emotion. Only in that matter has Socrates been able to beat human judgment which is always flawed.

The US Begins to Arm Taiwan Armstrong Economics

The evidence of the coming global war is overwhelming. In a move that will prompt a direct response from China, the US announced that it would deliver 400 Javelin man-portable anti-tank systems to Taiwan. The delivery is strategically planned to begin during the second half of this year into 2024. Reports claim that this deal was created under Trump, of course, but the timing could not be more on point for the international conflict our computers have been indicating.

These advanced weapons can penetrate armor 800 millimeters thick and come equipped with fire-and-forget technology. Ukraine has used these American-made missiles to repel troops and they are extremely effective. This is not intended to prevent China from invading. It is in preparation for when they do invade.

China will never relinquish Taiwan. It would be considered a great shame for the nation and an embarrassment on an international scale. They will do everything possible to keep Taiwan under the One China policy. China is taking notes on how Russia is operating in Ukraine. Russia had little time to prepare, whereas China has had 75 years. China is the second-largest economy in the world and will surpass the United States. The US is no longer a feared nation as it has lost every war since the second world war. The woke ideology prominent in American politics makes our nation appear weaker than ever before. America became the financial capital of the world after the second world war; China will secure that title after the third.

The Washington Post released an article calling it a poor test case for prosecuting a former president. American voters seem to agree.

You know you screwed up when even George Soros wants no part of the scandal. The leftist billionaire came out to declare that he is not associated with Alvin Bragg in any way, despite being a donor to the Color of Change PAC that supported Braggs election. Both DeSantis and Trump accused Soros of supporting Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. As for Alvin Bragg, as a matter of fact I did not contribute to his campaign and I dont know him, Soros told the media.

This Tornado Outbreak Will Be Different Awareness Act

Over the past week, numerous communities across the United States have been devastated by tornadoes, with over 60 fatalities, hundreds of injuries, and countless homes and businesses destroyed. As tornado season continues, another outbreak looms in the near future, and experts are warning that this one could be particularly dangerous. This article will explore the factors contributing to this outbreak, discuss potential impacts, and provide resources for those seeking to stay informed and prepared.

A Sinister Storm System

A significant factor in the coming tornado outbreak is a large trough of cold air that will settle into the western US on Monday, causing heavier snow showers in the Cascades and down towards the Rockies. This blast of cold air will clash with warm air coming up from the south, eventually meeting and creating the conditions for a full-blown storm system to develop near Denver, Colorado late on Monday. This system will bring gusty winds and heavy snow to Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and western Colorado.

Severe Weather Outbreak

The combination of the huge pocket of cold air aloft, warm moist air being drawn from the Gulf of Mexico, and the deepening low-pressure system to the north sets the stage for a severe weather outbreak. This event has similarities to past destructive outbreaks, such as the April 26, 1994 Outbreak and the 2012 Leap Day outbreak, both of which led to significant damage and loss of life. However, there are also many differences, and smaller, localized features that will only become clear as the event unfolds.

High Confidence in Significant Impact

One reason this outbreak is concerning is the Colorado State University Machine Learning Probability model, which has proven to be accurate and is currently maxed out for a large area on Tuesday. This indicates high confidence in a significant event. The wide warm sector of the storm suggests that every storm that forms has the potential to become a long-track s...

5 Things to Remember When You Want to Take Your Childs Behavior Personally Awareness Act

As a parent, its natural to feel emotionally invested in your childs behavior. Sometimes, its hard not to take their actions personally. However, its essential to remember that childrens actions and emotions are often a reflection of their developmental stage, and not necessarily a personal attack on you as a parent. In this article, we will discuss five things to remember when you feel like taking your childs behavior personally, backed by expert sources.

Children are still developing emotionally and cognitively. According to Dr. Laura Markham, a clinical psychologist and author of Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids, its essential to remember that childrens brains are still developing. Their emotional regulation and impulse control are not yet fully formed, which means they may have difficulty expressing their feelings or understanding the consequences of their action.

Your childs behavior may be a reflection of their needs. Dr. Ross W. Greene, a clinical child psychologist and author of The Explosive Child, emphasizes that childrens challenging behaviors are often a result of unmet needs. Instead of taking their actions personally, try to understand the underlying reasons and work together to address them.

Children learn by testing boundaries. Dr. Tovah P. Klein, a child psychologist and author of How Toddlers Thrive, explains that children naturally test boundaries as they learn about the world around them. This behavior is not a personal attack but rather a normal part of their development.

Parental self-care is crucial. Dr. Sheryl Ziegler, a child psychologist and author of Mommy Burnout, emphasizes the importance of parental self-care. Taking care of yourself, both physically and emotionally, can help you better understand and respond to your childs behavior without taking it personally.

Seek professional help if necessary. If your childs behavior is causing significant distress or if youre struggling to manage your emotions, it may be helpful to consult a professional. Child psychologists, therapists, and counselors can provide guidance and support in managing both your childs behavior and your emotional responses.

Its natural to feel emotionally affected by your childs behavior, but its essential to remember that their actions are often a reflection of their developmental stage and unmet needs. By understanding the reasons behind their behavior, practicing self-care, and seeking professional help when necessary, you can better support your child and maintain a healthy emotional connection.

Has Bakhmut Fallen? Zelensky the Real War Criminal Armstrong Economics

There are yet unconfirmed reports that the head of Russias Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced late on Sunday, April 2nd, 2023. that his forces have raised the Russian flag over the administration building of the town of Bakhmut in Ukraine. There is no question that Bakhmut will fall. Zelensky has sent over 100,000 men to their death there desperate to keep the money flowing into Ukraine. It is a sad state of affairs when a high-heel dancing idiot orders generals to fight to the death all for his pride and money. The fall of Bakhmut is simply inevitable and the Wests propaganda that Russia would be defeated and that they were weak was all wishful thinking of the Neocons who can think of nothing but war.

Zelensky should be charged with treason and bribery. He was elected promising to end the war and broker peace. Once he got in, he sold his soul o the Neocons and filled his pockets to live forever comfortably. Some Ukrainians are wondering if he did this to punish Ukraine for its persecution of Jews.

But he also ruled that the statements Dominion had challenged constitute defamation "per se" under New York law. That means Dominion did not have to prove damages to establish liability by Fox.

Biden admin moving forward with light bulb bans in coming weeks CLG News

Insane in the membrane: Biden admin moving forward with light bulb bans in coming weeks --LED light bulbs 'currently cost more than incandescent bulbs and are inferior,' consumer groups said in letter to U.S. Department of Energy | 1 April 2023 | The Biden administration is preparing to implement a sweeping nationwide ban on commonly used light bulbs as part of its [the WEF's] energy efficiency and climate agenda. The regulations, which prohibit retailers from selling incandescent light bulbs, were finalized by the Department of Energy (DOE) in April 2022 and are slated to go into effect on Aug. 1, 2023. The DOE will begin full enforcement of the ban on that date, but it has already urged retailers to begin transitioning away from the light bulb type and, in recent months, begun issuing warning notices to companies... According to the survey data, LEDs are also far more popular in higher-income households, meaning the energy regulations will particularly impact lower-income Americans. While 54% of households with an income of more than $100,000 per year used LEDs, just 39% of households with an income of $20,000 or less used LEDs. The rule applies to a wide range of trucks including box trucks, semitrailers and even large passenger pickups. "We're leading the charge to get dirty trucks and buses - the most polluting vehicles - off our streets, and other states and countries are lining up to follow our lead," Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a statement.

The curious case of Ray Epps stands as the most conspicuous and damning thorn in the side of the Regime's official narrative of the January 6 Fedsurrection. It is fair to say if it hadn't been for the intrepid reporting of Tucker Carlson and Revolver News (if the reader will permit a bit of self-congratulation) the burning questions surrounding Epps' involvement in January 6 would not have received the national attention that they deserve. According to the transcript of the January 6th Committee's interrogation of Epps, Epps himself singles out Revolver News along with representatives Massie, Gaetz, and others as the chief culprit in circulating so-called "baseless conspiracy theories" surrounding Epps' behavior.

BEST OF THE WEB: ICC's Putin arrest warrant based on State Dept-funded report that debunked itself Signs of the Times

The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of the "unlawful deportation" of Ukrainian children to a network of camps inside Russia. The warrant was based on a report by the Yale HRL center, which is funded by the US State Department. US journalist Jeremy Loffredo visited one of Russian government-sponsored camps in question. At The Donbas Express, located just outside of Moscow, Loffredo met youth from war-torn regions who were flourishing thanks to free music instruction, and grateful to be in a secure environment. This article features his exclusive video report. A Grayzone review of the Yale HRL report found the paper's content contradicted many claims contained in the ICC warrant. It also undercut incendiary statements its director, Nathaniel Raymond, issued during media appearances. In an interview with Loffredo, Yale HRL's Raymond further contradicted allegations he made in a CNN interview about a massive...

EU has abandoned peace and prosperity - Orban Signs of the Times

The pro-war lobby has put the entire bloc in danger over Ukraine, the Hungarian prime minister claims... The EU has forsaken its goal of ensuring peace and prosperity for its members, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban declared on Friday. Warning that the bloc is considering sending troops into Ukraine, Orban insisted that Hungary will continue pushing for a ceasefire. "Those who are pro-war have put the whole European Union in danger," Orban told Radio Kossuth, referring to the ongoing efforts by EU member states to arm Kiev's forces. To date, Brussels has supplied Kiev with just under $4 billion worth of arms, while individual member states have donated tanks, artillery, and in the case of Poland and Slovakia, fighter jets to Ukraine. "We expect two things from the European Union; the first is to have lasting peace. The second thing we expect of the EU is that it should preserve the prosperity it has achieved, but in comparison war and sanctions are destroying the European...

In a speech to the Belarusian parliament on Friday, Lukashenko stated that the only path to peace in Ukraine lies through diplomatic engagement. "Moscow and Kiev "should stop now before escalation ensues. I will try to risk suggesting a cessation of hostilities... to declare a truce without the right to move or regroup troops on both sides, [and] without the right to transfer weapons, ammunition... and military equipment... for everybody just to freeze." Lukashenko claimed that the West had previously attempted to use a truce to strengthen its hand in Ukraine, but that if it did so again, Russia "would be obliged to use all its military and...

Meet Avichai Buaron, the new Likud lawmaker who advocated for 'extermination camps' for Israel's enemies Signs of the Times

Avichai Buaron is a radical right-wing activist who has been a leader of the movement to maintain the illegal West Bank outpost of Amona, which is illegal even by Israeli law. This week Buaron became the newest member of the Israeli parliament in Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party, replacing lawmaker David Amsalem who resigned his seat to serve in the Justice Ministry. Buaron is notable because, as if his far right-wing advocacy wasn't enough, in 2010 he published an editorial calling for "extermination camps" for Israel's enemies. Yes, you read right, extermination camps. The editorial referenced support for extermination camps for "Amalekites," a common Jewish euphemism. The Amalekites were a people often mentioned in the bible as bitter enemies of the Israelites, where in Deuteronomy the Israelite God commands to "blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven." In contemporary Israel, it is widely understood that "Amalekites" are a reference to Palestinians.

New rules have come into play under Elon Musk's stewardship of the media-heavy social media platform. Now media companies, along with individuals, must pay for their verified labels - a move that Musk believes will lead to more accurate information being disseminated on social media. It's meant to be a corrective to the collusion between government, big tech and corporate media. Musk made the change to hold media outlets accountable and to also generate revenue. His stated goal is to make Twitter the most trustworthy social media platform - home to the most accurate information.

Rise of inequality and cronyism in Western nations Signs of the Times

Over the past 4 decades, there has been a major increase regarding wage inequality and unequal property ownership occurring mainly in the Western countries. This relates to the neoliberal era launched by US president Ronald Reagan (1981-89) and his ally in London, prime minister Margaret Thatcher (1979-90). Neoliberalism has in effect meant large-scale exploitation by Western elites of the general public. There had long been income inequality in the US, but during the last 40 years it has grown wider there than in any other country. For example in 2013, the chief executives of 350 US companies earned on average $11.7 million that year, while the annual wage of the typical American worker was $35,293.(1) The average income of corporate executives was almost 800 times higher than American workers on the minimum wage, $7.25 an hour. The situation was not much better in Britain. Record-breaking levels of inequality occurred in Britain during the 1980s under prime minister Thatcher,...

Europe Wants War At Any Cost Armstrong Economics

Federal Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren of the Netherlands has handed the Netherlands Army to be subordinated by Germany. He put out the standard propaganda that he did so because of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. They ignore the fact that it has been the West who started the civil war and propped up this fake leader in high-heels to send waves of Ukrainians to their death. All because the Western monetary system is collapsing and they desperately need war especially after keeping interest rates NEGATIVE since 2014 wiping out banks and pension funds throughout Europe. The complete integration of all three Dutch army brigades into Bundeswehr structures is a milestone they have declared.

On top of that von der Leyan will most likely take over NATO. Last week I applied to attend a Policy Exchange forum on 'What is the future for vaccines policy?' with speakers from the U.K. Health Security Agency (Dame Jenny Harries), Government (former Health Secretary Sajid Javid MP), the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (Thorrun Govind) and the British pharmaceutical industry (Susan Rienow), who also happens to be U.K. President for Pfizer. The Policy Exchange is the 'conservative' think tank which published "A Fresh Shot, The Future of Vaccines Policy in England" in December 2022. I was eager to hear if any revelations were going to be discussed. My application was initially accepted, but after I filled in all my details they must have had second thoughts and the next...

BEST OF THE WEB: Twitter's release of source code reveals US government can 'intervene' with recommendation algorithm Signs of the Times

On Friday, Twitter released the recommendation algorithm portion of its code by publishing it on GitHub, where developers post open source software data. Developer Steven Tey dug into the code and found that there is a mechanism through which the US government can "intervene" with the code. "When needed, the government can intervene with the Twitter algorithm," Tey wrote. "In fact, @TwitterEng (Twitter Engineering) even has a class for it - 'GovernmentRequested.'" Tey linked directly to the code on GitHub. On March 17, Musk announced he was going to make the algorithm open source later in the month and said, "Our 'algorithm' is overly complex & not fully understood internally. People will discover many silly things , but we'll patch issues as soon as they're found!"

Neocon Always Lose But They Are Never Down for the Count Armstrong Economics

QUESTION: Marty, I am really in shock. You put out the Ukrainian Model and stated in your March 6, 2022 post a year ago:

I have warned that our Model of Ukraine was turning down as of January 6th, 2022. However, in addition to this, we are approaching also the 31.4 years (Pi Cycle) which will be April 6, 2023. This will be a very critical period looking ahead.

I search your site and found that back on June 19, 2019, you also laid out that international war was likely 2024-2027. On your private blog, the week before Russia invaded you said they would invade and it was right on the turning point.

I dont know how you discovered Socrates. If anyone deserves the highest possible prize for contributing to society, it has to be you. Will you do a book on how in the world you achieved this incredible ability to forecast years in advance?

What Survives the Collapse of a Governments Currency? Armstrong Economics

I know a lot of goldbugs hate my guts because I do not constantly only say BUY and I point out that NOT only gold and silver survive the collapse of a currency.

I once had a German client who was a multimillionaire back in the 1970s. When the German government collapsed, he was buying all the old coins that were base metals for scrap. They were nickel and copper and some aluminum.  It was presumed that they were all then worthless.

The new government could issue the paper money, but they lacked the metal to strike a whole new coinage. They then announced that the old coinage would retain a value as fractions of the new currency. He became a multimillionaire overnight. I use to enjoy his stories of the transition since he lived through it there in Germany.

His stories of living through such monetary reforms helped me understand the mechanism behind such events. As I have explained, even in times of geopolitical stress, that is the period when we find the greatest number of hoards of even ancient coins.

Burundi: At least 13 gold miners killed in flooded pits Signs of the Times

An official in Burundi says the bodies of 13 gold miners have been recovered from two pits in which they were trapped by flood water. Nicodme Ndahabonyimana, a district administrator in the northwestern province of Cibitoke, said the miners could not be saved after the pits collapsed Friday night amid torrential rainfall. The bodies of two other miners who were missing and presumed dead have not been recovered, he said, urging artisanal miners to avoid pits during the rainy season. Police and other authorities on Saturday unsuccessfully tried to extract the miners from the pits, flooded with water from the overflowing Rugogo river. Such mining disasters are frequently reported in Burundi's northwest and northeast, where people mining illegally prefer nighttime work to escape the oversight of authorities. Source: AP

Megaphone Co-Founder Jean Kassir Summoned for Interrogation Blog Baladi

A protest in solidarity with Jean Kassir and Megaphone is planned tomorrow on Monday April 3rd at 11am in front of the Justice Palace. Kassir was summoned for interrogation by two members of the State Security apparatus while he was driving and was requested to show up at the Central Investigation Directorate of the General Directorate of State Security. This sets a dangerous precedence as the authorities must notify you at your home or work address as per the rules.

The reasons behind Kassirs summoning is a post entitled Lebanon is ruled by fugitives from justice that names officials in the Lebanese state who are now wanted before the judiciary on various charges. It is worth noting that Public Prosecutor Ghassan Oueidat is the one behind the request, which is not allowed as per the below.

This is not the first attack against freedom of speech in Lebanon and definitely wont be the last. We stand in solidarity with Megaphone, Jean Kassir and all free media in Lebanon.

Bombshell vax analysis finds $147 Billion in economic damage, tens of millions injured or disabled Signs of the Times

A new report estimates that 26.6 million people were injured, 1.36 million disabled, and 300,000 excess deaths can be attributed to COVID-19 vaccine damages in 2022 alone, which cost the economy nearly $150 billion Research firm Phinance Technologies, founded and operated by former Blackrock portfolio manager Ed Dowd, Yuri Nunes (PhD Physics, MSc Mathematics) and Carlos Alegria (PhD Physics, Finance), split the impact of the vaccines into four broad categories to estimate the human costs associated with the Covid-19 vaccine; no effect or asymptomatic, those who sustained injuries (mild-to-moderate outcome), those who became disabled (severe outcome), and death (extreme outcome). Data on vaccine disabilities and injuries comes directly from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), while the excess death figures are derived from official figures on deaths in the US via two different methods (methodology here). It's important to note that people in one category (injured, for example) can...

The weaponization of money, WHO's health tyranny, and the movement towards a totalitarian world government Signs of the Times

Two kinds of absolute controls are being prepared to implement The Great Reset, alias UN Agenda 2030. A potentially straitjacket and total control by programmable Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), and an all-oppressive health tyranny by WHO, overriding national Constitutional rights and national sovereignty as far as health measures are concerned. The former will be "managed", coordinated and supervised for faultless implementation, by the so-called Central Bank of Central Banks, the Bank for International Settlement (BIS); the latter by the 1948 Rockefeller-created, falsely called UN-agency WHO. The emerging tyrant's budget is to 80% pharma, Gates and otherwise privately funded. Both are criminal organizations. These are plans, not yet implemented. But the world better be aware, so We, the People, may stop this terrifying assault on humanity in its tracks. CBDC may be upon us, humanity, rather sooner than later. Programmable CBDC is a weapon of mass destruction. The weapon has...

Cashless society: Europe pushing the 'criminalization' of physical cash, MEP warns Signs of the Times

The European Union is in danger of "criminalising" the use of physical cash with its new anti-money laundering laws, an MEP has warned. Dr Gunnar Beck, a representative for the populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, has warned that the EU appears to be pushing for the "criminalisation" of the use of physical cash with its new anti-money laundering (AML) laws. Politicians in Brussels have long been pondering an upper legal limit on the value of cash transactions within the bloc, with lawmakers detailing plans to ban Europeans from spending over 10,000 in physical tender as part of a single transaction. The European Parliament however has now voted for such a proposed limit to be dropped down to as little as 7,000 as part of efforts to clamp down on money laundering and tax dodging within the bloc, with officials also voting to see cryptocurrency transactions paying for goods and services that are valued over 1,000 to be banned.

21 states threaten banks with legal action over woke policies: 'Stay in your lane' CLG News

21 states threaten banks with legal action over woke policies: 'Stay in your lane' | 31 March 2023 | A coalition of 21 state attorneys general sent a stark warning to dozens of financial institutions and asset managers, warning them against pursuing woke environmental and social initiatives. In a letter sent Thursday to 53 of the nation's largest financial institutions, which collectively manage trillions of dollars worth of assets, the attorneys general threatened to take legal action if the firms veer from the best interests of their clients while pushing social priorities. The effort, led by Montana, Utah and Louisiana, comes ahead of proxy season during which most companies hold annual shareholder meetings where they vote on key policy initiatives. "This ESG nonsense is filtering into a lot of our states and the way they're doing it is really, really concerning and probably flagrantly illegal," Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen told Fox News Digital in an interview. "...The message is: 'Stay in your lane and do what you're supposed to do. You have a fiduciary obligation under our various states laws to maximize investment. That's your job. That's what you're supposed to be doing. We're aware of state law and if it needs be, we will defend our state pensioners against anything outside that lane.'"

How I Achieved Maximum Success with The Truther

Barry Silbert Promotes Positive Change for BTC

Barry Silbert is one of the most influential figures in the crypto world. He is the founder and CEO of Digital Currency Group (DCG), a conglomerate of five cryptocurrency-focused companies that have invested in more than 200 crypto startups.

Grayscale, a company that manages $28 billion worth of digital assets, is DCGs main source of income. Grayscale allows investors to access cryptocurrencies without having to deal with buying or storing them themselves.

Other companies under DCG include Genesis Trading, a service for lending and trading cryptocurrencies; Foundry, a provider of mining and staking solutions for cryptocurrencies; CoinDesk, a top platform for news and events related to cryptocurrencies; and Luno, a global service for exchanging and storing cryptocurrencies.

Silberts journey to becoming a crypto millionaire started in 2012, when he was working as an investment banker at Second Market, a platform for trading illiquid assets. He bought about $175,000 worth of Bitcoin at around $11 per coin, after learning about it from niche internet blogs.

He rapidly gained an enthusiasm for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as a means to change the global financial system. He established the Bitcoin Investment Trust (now called Grayscale Bitcoin Trust) in 2013 as the first public option for investing in Bitcoin.

Genesis suffered huge losses and liquidity problems. In November 2022, Genesis announced that it was halting client withdrawals from its lending unit due to extreme market turmoil and loss of industry confidence following the demise of FTX. FTX was one of the largest crypto exchanges in the world before it filed for bankruptcy on Nov. 15 after losing billions of dollars in leveraged bets on Bitcoin futures.

FTXs bankruptcy had a ripple effect across the cryptocurrency industry, causing a steep drop in Bitcoin prices and a loss of trust in crypto platforms. FTX was accused of engaging in risky trading practices, such as offering up to 100x leverage on Bitcoin futures contracts, which magnified its losses when the market turned against it. FTX was also alleged to have mismanaged customer funds and violated securities laws.

Silbert has rejected any misconduct and said he is cooperating with Gensis Trading and its creditors to reach a solution. He has also praised his other businesses, such as Grayscale and CoinDesk, which he said are doing well despite the market chaos.

Despite the challenges, Silbert remains confident about the future of crypto and his role in it. He recently tweeted that he is more bullish than ever on Bitcoin and that he expects DCG to emerge stronger from the crisis.

Silberts story demonstrates how crypto can produce immense wealth but also entai...

The Rise of Barry Silbert: From Bankruptcy to Cryptocurrency Mogul

Are you familiar with Barry Silbert? He became rich through the bitcoin market, and his current nett worth is millions. For the purpose of assisting nascent businesses in the cryptocurrency and blockchain sectors, Silbert founded the Digital Currency Group. Silbert has become a prominent player in the cryptocurrency industry thanks to the success of the companies he founded, which include Grayscale, Gensis Trading, and Foundry. In this blog post, we will take a deep dive into the life and career of Barry Silbert and explore how he went from a failed business venture to a crypto pioneer.

Business veteran Barry Silbert has successfully navigated various turbulences. In 2008, he founded an online marketplace for private companies called SecondMarket. The platform allowed investors to buy and sell shares in private companies like Twitter and Facebook. However, the company struggled to gain traction, and Silbert was forced to pivot his business model. In 2015, he sold SecondMarket to Nasdaq, and the company was shut down shortly after.

The failure at SecondMarket didnt bother Silbert in the least. He saw an opportunity in the emerging world of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. He founded the Digital Currency Group in 2013, which has become one of the most prosperous investment firms in the bitcoin sector. Via his business, Digital Currency Group, Silbert has invested in more than 150 companies.

Silberts founding of Grayscale Investments is a major development in the cryptocurrency industry. Grayscale is a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group and is responsible for managing a portfolio of cryptocurrency investment trusts. The Bitcoin Investment Trust is Grayscales most well-known offering; it stores Bitcoin (BTC) on behalf of investors. The trust was launched in 2013 and was one of the first ways for investors to gain exposure to Bitcoin without having to purchase the cryptocurrency directly.

Gensis Trading is a subsidiary of the Digital Currency Group. Gensis Trading is an over-the-counter (OTC) trading firm that specializes in cryptocurrency. The company provides liquidity for institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals who want to buy or sell large amounts of cryptocurrency. Gensis Trading is a leading OTC desk that has processed transactions totalling billions of dollars.

Silberts most recent venture is Foundry, which is a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group that focuses on mining and staking. When miners and stakers seek to expand their operations, they can turn to Foundry for finance and advice on equipment purchases. The goal of the business is to make Bitcoin mining more accessible to players in specialised markets and to decentralise it.

Despite his success in the world of cryptocurrency, Silbert has had his...

Italy's data protection watchdog on Friday issued an immediate ban on access to OpenAI's popular artificial intelligence chatbot, ChatGPT, citing alleged privacy violations. Finland clears last hurdle, will become the 31st member of NATO Signs of the Times

Late Thursday night (local time), Turkey's parliament approved Finland's NATO application, which puts the Nordic country on the verge of formal membership in the Western military alliance as the 31st nation. This comes after on Monday Hungarian parliament ratified Finland's for NATO membership. The unanimous Turkish vote was the last hurdle in the process, after for months both Ankara and Budapest stalled the application - but in the case of Sweden it will be left behind, this despite the Finland-Sweden bids being initially launched as a package deal. Turkey's relations with Sweden continue to be at a low-point, suggesting its application will not move forward for a Turkish vote anytime soon. Finnish President Sauli Niinisto hailed the news out of Turkey, saying his country is "now ready to join NATO." He added: "All 30 NATO members have now ratified Finland's membership. I want to thank every one of them for their trust and support. Finland will be a strong and capable ally,...

After jail, these former fraudsters found lucrative careersbut its not the norm Fast Company

Many people struggle to find meaningful employment after incarceration. People like Frank Abagnale and Sheldon Moore have turned their experience into lucrative speaking and coaching careers.

Back in 2017, the Fyre Festival managed to grab headlines, but not because it was a huge success. The music festival promised a glamorous, celebrity- and influencer-laden event on a far-off Bahamian island, with luxury accommodations, and charged thousands for the privilege. But things did not go quite as planned. And after failing to provide any of the acts promised, and nothing but a few cheap tents for accommodations, festival organizers were deluged with multimillion dollar lawsuits, two documentaries looking into the fraud, and a six-year prison sentence for one of the founders for defrauding investors and ticket holders. It was one of the worst cases of overpromising and underdelivering on record.

Some kinds of research are welcomed at one university, but not at another. There are respected scientists, some of whom are Nobel Prize winners, who are ostracized, most of the time by gossip, by various covert activities of their colleagues, simply because they dare to ask questions and research phenomena that others consider as "unworthy". I have already mentioned several such cases, one example being the treatment of the "strange interests" of Alfred Wallace by Encyclopedia Universalis. Someone - we do not know who it was - decided that a major part of the research of a distinguished scientist should be suppressed - the public should not be told about it, that it is better to tell a lie than to tell an inconvenient truth. FIAT What is it Really! Armstrong Economics

QUESTION: Governments create their own sovereign fiat currency, to facilitate trade, among other reasons. So counterfeit is punishable, in some countries, by death, & at minimum, incarceration. Currency is supposed to be sacrosanct, created under the most exacting conditions. So what to do when your own govt engages in what is essentially officially endorsed counterfeit? I mean, the money has become almost meaningless, unless youre on the receiving end. For non-insiders like mebuy PM.

Liberalism is more Dangerous than Ukrainian Nazism Signs of the Times

We are an empire, as the heirs of the monarchy and as the heirs of the Soviet Union. There can be no neutral position in this war, because there are only two camps. And that is all. Anyone who hesitates or is indecisive, sooner or later (it seems to me much sooner than it seems), will be forced to take up arms and simply go to the front, and the front is everywhere today. It is impossible to return this long, difficult and terrible war to where it was before February 24, 2022; nor can it be stopped; it can only be won. Or it can still be left to human history. Then there will be no winner. Death will win. For now, it's war, which means we're alive. If you do not support the Special Military Operation, then you are not for Russia, you are not for the country, you are not for our people, and then the time will come when you will have to kill Russians, destroy Russia as a country, blow up cars, houses and railways, hide terrorists in your homes, shoot. How To Be the Woman That Doesnt Seek Validation Awareness Act

We have all been guilty of seeking validation at one point or another, and this likely ties into the societal pressure placed on women to please others. We doubt ourselves because we are hard-wired to try to please everyone around us, but this same societal conditioning is the very thing that will destroy our mental health and well-being.

Throughout history, women have been pressured to seek out validation, most especially from men. At one point in time, our survival depended upon it, because we had very few rights. Fast-forward to now, and while times have changed, it is still hard-wired in our DNA to seek validation from others. Of course, there are other factors at play as well. Regardless of the reasons, if you are ready to take your power back, then I have 6 tips to share with you.

6 ways to become a woman who does not seek validation from others.

1. Get to know yourself.

In order to believe in yourself, you have to know yourself. I dont mean know yourself in the vague sense of the word, I mean you need to really know yourself. You need to sit down with yourself and be honest about who you are, what you believe in, what you are capable of, what your weaknesses are, what your flaws are, and what makes you beautiful.

2. Understand your worth.

There are many of us that do not get taught what our value is. Instead, we are taught that we should be the prettiest girl in the room, the quietest, and the people pleaser. Let go of these notions and understand that this is your life and you are worthy of everything you desire and more.

3. Understand what you have accomplished and what you are capable of.

Look back at what you have accomplished. Think of times in which you stepped up and showed out. For example, remember that time that you got that promotion because you worked for it? Or, do you remember that time you could have given up when things were hard, but you kept going instead? Count those wins!

4. Practice self-care.

You cannot pour from an empty cup. If you are always doing for everyone else and letting your needs fall to the back burner, you do not value yourself. Make a point of showing YOU that you value YOU.

5. Practice setting boundaries.

Boundaries are everything. At the end of the day, when you seek validation from others, you are violating your own boundaries and honestly the boundaries of others. Why? Its not ANYONES responsibility to validate you.

6. Surround yourself with the right people.

There is an old saying that goes something along the lines of you are who you surround yourself with, and well, that couldnt be more true. So, if you want to be strong and confident, then you need to surround yourself with people who are strong and confident and who value you.

7 Books Every Parent Should Read To Their Child Awareness Act

As parents, we want our kids to have the best life they possibly can have, and the easiest way to ensure that you are achieving this is by reading to your kids. You might be thinking that this sounds crazy, but did you know that reading to your kids can encourage their development in a myriad of ways?

Not only is reading an enjoyable activity that your kids will love- but it also is an activity that will help their vocabulary, encourage them to build problem-solving skills, enhance their imagination and encourage healthy social behaviors. With that said, the content that you read to them is just as important as the activity itself. Below, I will go over 7 books that every parent should read to their child.

1. The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein

This is a book that is beloved by many and for good reason: it is an amazing read. This book goes through the different life, love, and relationship changes that happen during our lives. Additionally, it teaches children about generosity and gratitude, which is a must.

2. Oh, The Places Youll Go, by Dr. Suess

This book is an emotional read to be a childs book, and it leaves you feeling a sense of hope and happiness when you finish it. The best part about this book is that it shares a very necessary message: that we are in charge of our own destinies.

3. The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

Not only is this book a very interesting journey alongside a little caterpillar who grows into a beautiful butterfly, but it is also filled with beautiful art. One of the best things about this book is the message behind it, which tells us about transformation. There is a reason why everyone loves this book. Its the perfect read for a smaller child, like a toddler or pre-k child.

4. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, by Lois Ehlert

When I saw this book at the bookstore, I knew I had to pick it up. Growing up, I loved this book. Its a simple read, and it can be read in the form of a song. Not to mention how it easily teaches little ones how to say their ABCs.

5. The Raindrop, by Brian D. Mcclure

If you are looking for a childs book with a deep message about how we value ourselves, this one is it. In this book, a little raindrop begins to feel worthless and meaningless. Throughout its journey, it learns about itself and finds out that it has much more value than it ever imagined.

6. Where the Sidewalk Ends, by Shel Silverstein

Shel Silverstein was not only a great writer, but also a great artist and poet. This book includes an extensive list of poetry and imagery that will be sure to empower your little ones imagination.

7. Charlottes Web

While most people have seen the movie, the book is way better. In this book, a little pig named Wilbur befriends a spider named Charlotte. Charlotte creates a plan to save the piglet from the butcher and through their friend...

4 Signs He Has An Avoidant Attachment Style Awareness Act

Back in the 1950s, John Bowlby, M.D., and Mary Ainsworth, Ph.D. realized a unique relationship between how a child relates to their parent in their earliest stage. Based on their work, when children do not properly bond with their parents, they end up with dysfunctional attachment styles, like avoidant attachments.

There are four main attachment styles: anxious, avoidant, disorganized, and secure. When a child is properly bonded to their mother or caregiver early on, they securely attach, and when their bond is somehow stunted, they may end up with one of the others. Anxious attachment styles cause people to be clingy, to be obsessive, and to be fearful constantly of losing their partner or doing something wrong. Avoidant attachment styles lead to people being extremely fearful of commitment and pulling back from emotional depth altogether.

Sadly, being with someone with an unhealthy attachment style can be extremely hurtful. Here are four signs that indicate an avoidant attachment style.

1. When the going gets good, he gets going.

People who are avoidant in their attachment style tend to have difficulty with commitment. Due to this, when things are going well in a relationship or a new partnership, they are likely to bail. To them, good means that they may get attached, and that means they could get hurt. So, instead of being able to feel safe and secure, they pull back.

2. They cling to the past.

Another tell-tell sign of an avoidant attachment is when you notice your partner is stuck in the past. You might find they have a history of this with past lovers. They may collect past love interests on their socials, and you may even hear them constantly reminiscing about someone else.

3. They lack trust in anyone.

People with avoidant attachment styles tend to not trust others. Whenever you tell them you will do something, they will be suspicious. They will constantly be coming behind you, checking to see if you are lying to them or doing them wrong.

4. They are hot/cold.

The biggest sign to me is someone who is either all in or all out. One moment, they seem fine, and they may even talk about commitment. However, when it comes time to pay up, they run for the hills.

5 Ways To Be Gentle, Yet FIRM With Your Kids Awareness Act

As a parent, we are constantly toeing the line between being assertive and being compassionate. While we want disciplined kids, who listen and who are good humans, we also want children who feel heard and loved.

Disciplining can be difficult, especially if you were raised by parents who were not so gentle or parents who let you do whatever you wanted to do. At the end of the day, neither of those approaches is going to get the results you want. With that said, the question remains, how do you stay firm with your children while remaining gentle and loving?

Here are 5 simple tips that will help you accomplish exactly that.

1. Create an environment that is conducive to what you are trying to accomplish.

Children will rebel against parents who always seem angry with them, it is simply in their nature. So, it is your job as a parent to create a warm and loving environment, where your kids have a voice so that when it comes time to get firm with them, they will trust in you and listen.

2. Keep your posture right.

When approaching your child, you need to maintain yourself. Do not let them see you struggling to be firm, because they will sense that you dont trust yourself. In turn, they are far less likely to take you seriously. Stand tall, maintain your facial expression, and stay in control.

3. Manage your tone.

Your tone is everything. If you softly tell your son to stop playing and do his homework, and he doesnt listen, it is likely because he isnt taking you seriously. Instead, use a deep tone that is serious, loud enough to get the point across but not yelling, and use commands, not questions.

4. Talk less.

If you throw a bunch of commands at your child or use too many words when trying to command them, they are going to get lost. Instead, keep it short and sweet.

5. Look back at situations that didnt work.

When there are times in which you are not firm enough or your attempts failed, use them to learn. Look back and ask yourself what you could have done better. Identify these issues and then come up with a strategy for next time.

You should listen to this carefully. The Neocons will have at least another 500,000 peoples blood on their hands. I have stated that Putin NEVER sought to invade and conquer Ukraine. It was also a Special Action only to free the Russian Dunbas. The American Neocons are the ones who have been pushing this to defeat Russia. They never cared about the people of Ukraine. They have been used as cannon fodder. Perhaps as we enter the final days into the target of the ECM April 10th, it will have this defeat to deal with. To all of those who bought into the whole Putin is just evil scenario, you better think again, why are you so easily manipulated by Neocon propaganda? Because this is not going to end.

Raw sewage dumped into English rivers 825 times A DAY last year, discharges doubled following environmental protection funding cut Signs of the Times

Keir Starmer has accused the government of "turning Britain's waterways into an open sewer", as data showed raw discharges were sent into English rivers 825 times a day last year. Private water companies have been consistently accused of failing to take action, and the Environment Agency admitted there were more than 300,000 spillages into rivers and coastal areas in 2022, lasting for more than 1.75m hours. The alarming figures led to calls for the environment secretary, Thrse Coffey, to resign, and added to the pressure on Rishi Sunak to do more to tackle the issue.

Tens of billions of pounds have been lost to fraud since the start of the COVID pandemic, according to the National Audit Office (NAO), with little chance of the majority being reclaimed. Of the 21bn identified by the NAO to have been lost by the government, more than 7bn is linked to schemes introduced during the pandemic And it says it is "very unlikely" that the bulk of the taxpayers' money will be recovered. Levels of fraud rose almost fourfold from 5.5bn two years before the pandemic to 21bn in the following two years.

Leaders in Ghana, Zambia, slam US for 'undemocratic' meddling, amid VP Harris' tour of Africa Signs of the Times

Ghana intends to pass its family values act regardless of what the US says, Speaker of the Parliament Alban Bagbin has told lawmakers. He was speaking in response to remarks by US Vice President Kamala Harris on her African tour in Ghana this week, that LGBT rights were a human rights issue. Bagbin dismissed Harris' remarks. "These things should not be tolerated. That is undemocratic! What is democracy? That somebody else would have to dictate to me, as to what is good and what is bad? Unheard of!" Bagbin said on Tuesday, at a meeting with legislators to discuss the proposed 'Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values' bill. In a joint press conference with President Nana Akufo-Addo on Monday, Harris did not directly address the bill, but affirmed that LGBT rights were "an issue that we consider to be a human rights issue, and that will not change."

Conservative activist bloodied and bruised at pro-trans rally in Canada: 'Police did nothing' CLG News

Conservative activist bloodied and bruised at pro-trans rally in Canada: 'Police did nothing' --While Chris Elston was speaking to a journalist, a trans activist lunged at his throat, swung at his head, and pulled him to the ground | 1 April 2023 | Popular conservative activist "Billboard Chris" appeared to be violently assaulted by aggressive transgender activists at a pro-trans rally in Vancouver, Canada yesterday. Though police seemed to break up the assault after it began, the conservative activist, whose full name is Chris Elston, stated that Vancouver PD "did nothing" to keep the militant trans rally goer from assaulting him beyond making sure he wasn't injured more in the attack. He also spoke to one of the officers monitoring the rally that day, who argued that both sides were at fault, pushing back on the conservative's claim that he was peacefully protesting at the trans rally... As it happened, he could be heard saying, "Been here five seconds, and I'm already getting assaulted."

UK's 15-minute cities under fire for causing 'dangerous' delays to emergency services, roadblocks vandalised as revolt grows Signs of the Times

Ministers were last night under growing pressure from their own MPs and campaigners to scrap 'preposterous' and 'dangerous' low-traffic neighbourhoods. It came as new figures showed nearly 240 ambulances were delayed from reaching potentially life-threatening callouts due to the controversial schemes. Experts said the recorded incidents would be 'the tip of the iceberg' as they relate only to London and there are hundreds more low-traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs) in other cities. It is also believed that not all incidents were recorded. The disclosure comes amid a growing revolt against the controversial schemes and a raft of other anti-car measures such as clean air zones being imposed across the country. Comment: 'Imposed' is the correct term, because few to none of these schemes were decided on by a citizen vote.

'Political prosecution': Legal experts rail against Trump indictment Signs of the Times

Legal experts reacted Thursday to the news of former President Donald Trump's indictment, calling it a "legal disaster" and "deeply flawed." A Manhattan grand jury voted to indict the former president on Thursday after Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's investigation into his alleged payment of hush money to former porn star Stormy Daniels. The indictment is "patently political prosecution," according to Jonathan Turley, Shapiro Chair of Public Interest Law at George Washington University. He commented: "[Bragg] has made history, but it is an inglorious moment where even some on the left have criticized the effort. This is a patently political prosecution. Bragg and NY AG James ran on bagging Trump. This has fulfilled that pledge but, if the indictment follows the course described in coverage, it is deeply flawed theory. We will have to wait to see the indictment."

Fyodor Lukyanov: China's Xi is right, the world is currently undergoing changes not seen for a century Signs of the Times

It's time to buckle up, because the post-WW2 and Cold War systems no longer suit the global order... Humanity has been gripped by a frenzy. The political and military crisis in Europe has captured everyone's attention, but in global terms it's only part of a larger picture. The tensions over Ukraine, and even the wider conflict concerning post-Cold War European security, are elements (but not the core reasons) behind a major shift. When Chinese President Xi Jinping parted company with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week, it was no coincidence that he remarked that the changes now taking place are the biggest in a century. A hundred years ago, the old world was fast disappearing. Empires were crumbling, the structure of societies was changing, and old ideologies were being radicalized in an attempt to meet people's needs or point them in the right direction. Two World Wars, a global economic crisis, the resurgence of all sorts of local conflicts, and social experiments - that...

The narrative in retreat Signs of the Times

The Lockdown Files have dished up a curious exchange among Britain's top policy advisers in early 2020. On 29 February, responding to a WhatsApp message from Prime Minister Boris Johnson's chief adviser Dominic Cummings that Israeli scientists were just weeks away from developing a Covid vaccine and if this was credible, Chief Scientist Sir Patrick Vallance replied "Short answer is no." Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty explained: "For a disease with a low (for the sake of argument 1%) mortality a vaccine has to be very safe so the safety studies can't be shortcut. So important for the long run." England's highest mortality rate was in April 2020 at 0.6 percent, falling to 0.55 percent in January 2021 and 0.04 percent by January 2023. Based on the original Phase 3 trial data, Bart Classen showed as early as August 2021: "Results prove that none of the vaccines provide a health benefit and all pivotal trials show a statically significant increase in 'all cause severe morbidity' in...

Rand Paul smacks down bipartisan TikTok ban bills: 'Goes against the First Amendment' Signs of the Times

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., broke from his Senate GOP colleagues on Tuesday over their opposition to TikTok, arguing that banning the popular social media app "goes against the First Amendment." Paul told Fox News Digital: "I think it's a really bad idea. And people need to ask themselves, 'Why does the Chinese government ban TikTok, and do we want to emulate the Chinese government?' So, I think it's a mistake. If you ban a social media platform, you know, I don't know if you get any clearer that that goes against the First Amendment." There are currently two bipartisan Senate bills aimed at banning TikTok, a video app that exploded in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic but has raised alarms over its connection to the Chinese Communist Party.

U.S. bank trouble heralds the end of dollar reserve system Signs of the Times

The US banking system is broken, stresses The Asia Times. That doesn't portend more high-profile failures like Credit Suisse. The central banks will keep moribund institutions on life support. But the era of dollar-based reserves and floating exchange rates that began on August 15, 1971, when the US severed the link between the dollar and gold, is coming to an end. The pain will be transferred from the banks to the real economy, which will starve for credit. And the geopolitical consequences will be enormous. The seize-up of dollar credit will accelerate the shift to a multipolar reserve system, with advantage to China's yuan as a competitor to the dollar. Gold, the "barbarous relic" abhorred by John Maynard Keynes, will play a bigger role because the dollar banking system is dysfunctional, and no other currency surely not the tightly-controlled yuan can replace it. Now at an all-time record price of US$2,000 an ounce, gold is likely to rise further. The greatest danger to...

Gaines became a national figure when she objected to trans swimmer Lia Thomas participating in women's sports, helping propel a national conversation about whether it is fair to biological women to allow those born as men to compete. Many, such as former Olympian Nancy Hogshead-Makar, have warned that biological males have a clear advantage over biological women due to different body structure.

Trump v DeSantis Armstrong Economics

QUESTION: I thought you were supporting DeSantis. Are you switching to Trump?

SH

ANSWER: This is not about Trump even as an individual. A lot of people hate him for being arrogant. Put personal issues aside. If we are civilized, we do not condemn a person because we do not like him. All of that is absurd. True, I was asked to meet with Trump to talk him out of running in 2024. They wanted me to meet with DeSantis and the story was he was a better administrator. My reply was that I preferred that DeSantis stay right here for they would eat him for lunch in DC.

Even Former U.S. Attorney General William Barr has criticized the indictment, calling it a disgrace and a political hit job. Barr was certainly no Trump fan.

True, I did not think Trump would win in 2024. There were just too many people who drank the cool-aid to get rid of him so they could do precisely what they are doing right now climate and war. I am speaking objectively here and NOT in a political endorsement capacity. The headlines going into 2024 will now be all about Trump. Will that drown out any other potential candidates? These are the serious questions we must deal with. Some Democrats think this will guarantee their win in 2024 even if it is Biden again.

As for all the people who hate Trump and are too blind to look at this objectively, Bragg has crossed the line. This will open the door for Republican prosecutors to do the same to Democrats. This can easily collapse into political civil war at the highest levels. That will only contribute to Socrates forecast that the USA will probably not exist as soon as 2028.

This has NOTHING to do with Trump as a person. Open your eyes! This was a VERY dangerous move and it made no sense. All of these charges and investigations about Trump are insane. They will never change the minds of those in both camps. They are preaching to the choir as they say. The Democrats behind all of this should have left Trump alone. He would have faded into the sunset. Constantly attacking him...

Newspeak: CBS execs ban word 'transgender' in reports on Nashville transgender school shooter Signs of the Times

Top executives at CBS News have banned staffers from using the word "transgender" when reporting on the Nashville shooter despite the fact that police have said Audrey Hale was just that and cited it as a key point in the case, The Post has learned. "The shooter's gender identity has not been confirmed by CBS News," the network's executives insisted in a Tuesday memo obtained by The Post. "As such, we should avoid any mention of it as it has no known relevance to the crime. Should that change, we can and will revisit." The CBS News directive was delivered on a Tuesday morning editorial call by Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews, the executive vice president of newsgathering, and Claudia Milne, the senior vice president of standards and practices, according to sources close to the Tiffany Network. "Right now we advise saying: POLICE IDENTIFIED THE SUSPECT AS A 28-YEAR-OLD AUDREY HALE, WHO [sic] THEY SHOT AND KILLED AT THE SCENE," the Tuesday memo said. "And move on to focus on other...

NYC jury finds Douglass Mackey GUILTY in first-ever meme trial after trolling Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election - faces 10 years in prison Signs of the Times

Douglass Mackey, also known as Ricky Vaughn on Twitter, has been found guilty on charges of election interference by a federal court in the Eastern District of New York. The charges stem from a meme Mackey posted on Twitter in 2016, jokingly encouraging supporters of Hillary Clinton to vote by text. The Department of Justice alleged that this constituted election interference, despite being unable to provide evidence that anyone was deceived by the meme. Mackey argued that he was simply trying to create a viral meme, and that other Clinton supporters had posted similar memes encouraging Trump supporters to vote by text without consequence.

As repeatedly promised by Twitter CEO Elon Musk, Twitter has opened a portion of its source code to public inspection, including the algorithm it uses to recommend tweets in users' timelines. On GitHub, Twitter published two repositories containing code for many parts that make the social network tick, including the mechanism Twitter uses to control the tweets users see on the For You timeline. In a blog post, Twitter characterized the move as a "first step to be[ing] more transparent" while at the same time "[preventing] risk" to Twitter itself and people on the platform. On a Twitter Spaces session today, Musk clarified: "Our initial release of the so-called algorithm is going to be quite embarrassing, and people are going to find a lot of mistakes, but we're going to fix them very quickly." "Even if you don't agree with something, at least you'll know why it's there, and that you're not being secretly manipulated ... The analog, here, that we're aspiring to is the great example...

Metropolitan Pavel (secular name Pyotr Lebed), a senior bishop in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), is suspected of inciting religious tensions. The cleric, who has served as abbot of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra since 1994, told reporters about his arrest on Saturday, in a video released by the Ukrainian news network Vesti. Meanwhile the SBU, Ukraine's domestic security service, claimed in a statement that it "had collected well-founded evidence" that the bishop was "inciting inter-religious enmity" and "justifying Russia's aggression." The two potential charges carry prison sentences of up to eight years and three years, respectively.

QUESTION #1: Marty, What is going on over there in America? It looks like the country has completely lost its mind. Indicting Trump over such a stupid thing when our politicians over here have open mistresses and in France, you have the head of state who married his high school teacher. How about Berlusconi in Italy who married a 32-year-old? We have a war on our doorstep. Is this some planned distraction so they can start World War III? We are laughing at America over this craziness.

JQ

QUESTION #2:  It looks like this indictment of Trump is precisely what Socrates has forecast. Then a major swing into 2026. Could that be a Trump victory as a backlash against this indictment? I think they are making Trump a symbol of absolute political victimization. The videotapes from January 6th show that were all blown out of proportion with the Democrats calling it an insurrection while the police had walkways set up and escorted the guy with the horns to the podium. What hypocrisy! Then there are videos of Hunter Biden with lines of cocaine where anyone else would be in prison. Just unbelievable how corruption is surfacing.

ANSWER: It is hard to say. Some people hated Trump and already have declared him guilty. They are such fools for what goes around, comes around. It is these very people who are...

Ukraine war effort has left small European countries "morally & financially exhausted" Signs of the Times

Ukraine's Western backers have of late expressed more and more skepticism over the future success of the war effort against Russia. This doubt grew louder and more public starting two weeks ago, when Czech President Petr Pavel said in an interview with Polish media that the window is closing on a major new Ukrainian counteroffensive. He then acknowledged that his country may not be able to maintain current levels of assistance to Kiev. "The window of opportunity is open this year. After next winter, it will be extremely difficult to maintain the current level of assistance," Pavel was quoted as saying. "War fatigue is not only the exhaustion of human resources and equipment, the destruction of infrastructure in Ukraine, but also fatigue in the countries that provide aid." This week another small central European country has echoed the same. Slovak President Zuzana aputov said at a foreign policy event that Slovakia is "morally and financially exhausted" after more than a year of...

Yosemite, John Muir & Robert Underwood Johnson Organikos

The Three Brothers, taken just east of El Capitan, by Carleton Watkins, ca. 1865. A sharp earthquake shock at 7:30 a.m., Muir wrote in his journal on January 5, 1873. This book review in the LA Times will be of interest to those who find the history of conservation innovations entertaining:

The odd couple that saved Yosemite

John Muir and Robert Underwood Johnson were unlikely allies in the war to preserve Yosemite. Muir, son of a Scripture-quoting Scottish immigrant father, was raised poor on a Wisconsin farm, but he wrote and spoke with the fervor of a prophet, and his craggy visage, tough constitution and unshakable devotion to the natural world drew admirers like a magnet. Weve gotten used to thinking of quadrupedal robots as robotic versions of dogs. And, to be fair, its right there in the word quadrupedal.
