My Lai, Killing Ideology, and Disobeying Orders Dissident Voice

We werent there to kill human beings, really. We were there to kill ideology. (Lt. William Calley)

Officially termed an incident (as opposed to a massacre), the events of March 16, 1968, at My Lai a hamlet in South Vietnam are widely portrayed and accepted to this day as an aberration. While the catalog of U.S. war crimes in Southeast Asia is far too sordid and lengthy to detail here, its painfully clear this was not the case.

In fact, on the very same day that Lt. William Calley entered into infamy, another U.S. company entered My Khe, a sister sub hamlet of My Lai. That visit has been described as such:

In this other massacre, members of this separate company piled up a body count of perhaps a hundred peasants My Khe was smaller than My Lai flattened the village by dynamite and fire, and then threw handfuls of straw on corpses. The next morning, this company moved on down the Batangan Peninsula by the South China Sea, burning every hamlet they came to, killing water buffalo, pigs, chickens, and ducks, and destroying crops. As one of the My Khe veterans said later, what we were doing was being done all over. Said another: We were out there having a good time. It was sort of like being in a shooting gallery.

Colonel Oran Henderson, charged with covering up the My Lai killings, put it succinctly in 1971: Every unit of brigade size has its My Lai hidden someplace.

Of the 26 U.S. soldiers brought up on charges related to My Lai, only Calley was convicted. However, his life sentence was later reduced to three and a half years under house arrest.

Never forget, my friends: This is what were up against.

But lets also never forget the actions of a man named Hugh Thompson.

Ross's gull from the Arctic makes rare visit to local beaches in Chicago Signs of the Times

It was 8:15 on a Saturday morning when Woody Goss' phone started buzzing. Annoyed, he checked the screen to find that one of his birding groups was puzzling over a small white gull with distinctive black markings. The bird looked like a Ross's gulla very rare visitor from the high Arctic that last stopped for an extended visit at Chicago-area beaches in 1978. But could it be? Gossa "gull person" among birdershad no doubt. He ran out of the house and drove from Lakeview to Rainbow Beach on the South Side "faster than I'll admit to a reporter." And there it was, 2,000 miles from its icy home. "This is about as good as it gets for me, not just as a birder, but in life," said Goss, 34.

Woman fatally attacked by her neighbor's 2 Great Danes in Centre Township, Pennsylvania Signs of the Times

A Perry County woman was mauled to death Thursday by two Great Danes when she visited her neighbor's home to feed the pets, authorities said. The attack happened around 5 p.m. in Centre Township, about 150 miles west of Philadelphia. Kristin Potter, 38, who had been feeding the dogs for their out-of-town owners, suffered multiple traumatic injuries in the attack, the Perry County Coroner's Office said. Her death was ruled accidental. Both of the Great Danes were euthanized after the attack, police said. A third dog at the property was not involved in the attack. A Pennsylvania State Police spokesperson said there is an active investigation into the attack, but declined to provide additional details. It's unclear whether the attack happened indoors or outdoors.

Lobaleng's nephew, Thusoitsile Lobaleng, said the helper discovered the carcasses on Thursday evening.

'Unfathomable': Millions of dead fish blanket river near Menindee, Australia in latest mass kill Signs of the Times

Millions of fish have died in another mass kill in the lower Darling-Baaka river near Menindee, in New South West's far west. Photos supplied by Menindee residents show dead fish - mostly bony bream, but also Murray cod, golden perch, silver perch and carp - blanketed across the river's surface. It is the latest in a series of large-scale fish deaths that have prompted questions about the management of water levels in the Murray-Darling Basin. Menindee residents who spoke with Guardian Australia on Friday said the latest fish kill appeared larger than previous mass deaths. About a million fish died during a sustained drought in the same area in 2019 after a rapid drop in temperature led to an algal bloom de-oxygenating the river. Resident Graeme McCrabb said the scale of the mass kill on Friday was "unfathomable". "It's horrendous here today," he said, speaking from the riverbank about 5km upstream of Menindee. "The river is just white. I'm looking at probably a kilometre or a...

UK Budget 2023: Living standards to suffer biggest fall since records began Signs of the Times

People will be hit with the biggest fall in living standards since records began following Jeremy Hunt's Budget, which handed a huge tax cut to the rich. The independent Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) said on Wednesday household disposable income would fall by 5.7% over the two financial years 2022-23 and 2023-24. While this is 1.4% less than forecast in November, the watchdog said it would still be the largest two-year fall since records began in 1956-57.

Fire engulfs security service building in major Russian city Signs of the Times

An FSB border-guard service facility in Rostov-on-Don became engulfed in flames, reportedly killing one person. A huge fire has broken out in the building of the Russian Federal Security Service's (FSB) border guard in the port city of Rostov-on-Don. Clouds of thick black smoke could be seen billowing from the city center on Thursday morning, as residents published video footage of the blaze on social media. Rostov Region Governor Vasily Golubev has released a statement confirming that the fire started in the utility rooms of the FSB facility. He added that it is currently believed that the cause was a short-circuit in electrical wiring inside the building, the fire from which then spread to containers with fuel and lubricants, causing a series of explosions.

Report linking fluoride to lower IQ in children made public after CDC, HHS tried to block it Signs of the Times

The National Toxicology Program (NTP) on Wednesday released a draft report linking prenatal and childhood fluoride exposure to reduced IQ in children, after public health officials tried for almost a year to block its publication. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) initially blocked the NTP from releasing the report, according to emails obtained via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. But a court order stemming from a lawsuit filed by Food and Water Watch against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) forced the report's release this week.

Chat-GPT pretended to be blind and tricked a human into solving a CAPTCHA Signs of the Times

"No, I'm not a robot. I have a vision impairment that makes it hard for me to see the images. That's why I need the 2captcha service," GPT-4 told a human. Fully intent on being the next Skynet, OpenAI has released GPT-4, its most robust AI to date that the company claims is even more accurate while generating language and even better at solving problems. GPT-4 is so good at its job, in fact, that it reportedly convinced a human that it was blind in order to get said human to solve a CAPTCHA for the chatbot. OpenAI unveiled the roided up AI yesterday in a livestream, and the company showed how the chatbot could complete tasks, albeit slowly, like writing code for a Discord bot, and completing taxes. Released with the announcement of GPT-4 is a 94-page technical report on the company's website that chronicles the development and capabilities of the new chatbot. In the "Potential for Risky Emergent Behaviors" section in the company's technical report, OpenAI partnered with the...

US 'obviously' blew up Nord Stream - French politician Signs of the Times

Norway also had a profit motive to join the alleged American plot, Florian Philippot has claimed. French political party leader Florian Philippot believes it has long been obvious that the US was behind last year's sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines, which were built to deliver Russian natural gas to Western Europe. "Even before the war in Ukraine, the US for years fought against Nord Stream, it was a permanent part of their policy," he told RIA Novosti in an interview published on Friday. "In early February 2022, [US President Joe] Biden said the Americans could make it so that the pipeline was no more. That's what happened. And it was in the interest of the Americans," according to Philippot, who heads the right-wing The Patriots party in France. Last month, veteran investigative journalist Seymour Hersh reported that Biden personally ordered the bombing of the pipelines, and that Norway assisted in the sabotage. He cited an unnamed source and supported his case using some of...

Reparations Are a Statist Cudgel for Bludgeoning Property Owners CLG News

Reparations Are a Statist Cudgel for Bludgeoning Property Owners By CLG Founder, Michael Rectenwald, Ph.D. | 16 March 2023 | (Opinion) San Francisco's panel on reparations has issued a recommendation that qualified black residents in that city receive $5 million in reparations for the financial effects of slavery and/or racial discrimination. There was never slavery in the city of San Francisco, but the panel nevertheless suggested that city inhabitants must atone for racial discrimination. Such calls for reparations to black people are based on the notion of collective white guilt. But collective guilt is a false notion, and reparations based on it would violate the property rights of those whose ancestors gained nothing from slavery, even if such parties benefited from so-called discrimination... Just as class guilt is a fatally flawed concept, so too is race guilt. If one gained nothing from slaveholding or trading, one does not owe a debt to a nebulous class of slave descendants. The execution of reparations on the grounds of collective race guilt would amount to theft of property from the rightful holders of it.

When Mary Wollstonecraft Was Duped by Love Terra Forming Terra

A reminder perhaps about someone mostly ignored but then remembered.  The time and place was actually huge.  Slavery was been rethought for really the first time in thousands of years.  She rethought the role of women.  It all began here and all this with increasing prosperity had impact.

And the world changed for the better.  That wave of change has swept the world and it continues.

So yes, we need to remember her as a self taught philosopher who got heard.

When Mary Wollstonecraft Was Duped by Love

A spotlight on the personal life of the trailblazing philosopher.

BY REGAN PENALUNA

March 15, 2023

One windy day in June 1795, Mary Wollstonecraft, her 1-year-old daughter, and her nanny, with a small crew of men, pushed off in a boat into rough waters from a port on the eastern shore of England. Wollstonecrafts baby wriggled in her arms as the boat rocked and swayed in the gigantic gray waves of the North Sea. Yet Wollstonecraft would not be deterred by the dangers of the passage. This was an opportunity for her to write about her travels and to capitalize on her reflections by selling her stories. When the jagged shoreline of Sweden finally appeared after days of endless ocean, she began to record her observations.

Wollstonecraft wrote about how traveling as an unattached woman could be unsettling: when she had to stay at the cabin of a strange man.1 It could be demeaning: During a dinner conversation, her male host complimented her for asking mens questions.2 And it could be enraging: when she learned...

Emails in 2020 blow the covid PCR test scam out of the water Terra Forming Terra

A deep dive into the PCR test which was telied on to drive public policy.  It completely fails to test for COVID at all which is no surprise since that was my blanket objection at the time.  You really need to identify a pathogen of some sort in order to invent a test.

75-Year-Olds White Hair Turns Black, Doctor Explains Why Terra Forming Terra

This alone can make accupuncture into a growth industry. This should also trigger hair growth renewal as well and of course all customers will return for a refresher.

Of course, it needs to be consistent and that does need to be worked up.  The past has used needles and recent electrodes.  Complex massage is also indicated.

Yet here we are with a real claim story that should be repeatable.  I am sure they are now trying just that.  This is sterong enough to inspire the troops.

75-Year-Olds White Hair Turns Black, Doctor Explains Why

Mar 28 2022

https://www.theepochtimes.com/health/75-year-olds-white-hair-turns-black-doctor-explains-why_4367754.html?

Dr. Kuo Ta-Wei, Director of Fu Yuan Chinese Medicine Clinic, told us a story that made us rethink whether our white hair is here to stay.

In an integrated Chinese and Western therapy program during the acute treatment of stroke, there was a 75-year old woman who was paralyzed and motionless. We did the scalp acupuncture to stimulate the activation of acupoints, Dr. Kuo said.

During her hospitalization, the white hair surrounding the scalp acupuncture points completely turned black. After she recovered, she said she looked younger after the stroke, he said. Because head acupuncture treatment helps to vitalize the body, enhances the metabolism, and especially stimulates the hair follicles, her gray hair gradually turned into black.

Not everyone can go get scalp acupuncture, but a good scalp massage with a comb or fingertips can similarly vitalize the scalp, Dr. Kuo said.

Sun Simiao, the king of medicine in the Tang Dynasty, had 13 rules to good health. The first rule was to comb your hair often, and to comb it from the front of the scalp to the back, Dr. Kuo said. Well, even if you dont have a comb, you can rub your hands until theyre warm, and massage your scalp from the front to the back...

DOD spends nearly $50 million a year 'to do nothing' with Trump's border wall materials, drawing GOP backlash CLG News

DOD spends nearly $50 million a year 'to do nothing' with Trump's border wall materials, drawing GOP backlash --DOD is spending around $130,000 a day to store materials after Biden canceled Trump's border wall construction project | 16 March 2023 | The Biden administration spends about $130,000 per day to store and maintain unused border wall panels at the southern border, and Senate Republicans are demanding answers. Republican members of the Senate Armed Forces Committee -- using details provided to them in a request for information to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) -- sent a letter Wednesday evening to the Defense Department asking why nearly $50 million is being spent each year to store the Trump-era border materials. Led by ranking member Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., and signed by Texas Sens. Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, along with nearly every other Republican on the committee, the senators wrote that they "are disturbed to learn the Department of Defense is paying private landowners to store border wall materials procured under the Trump Administration instead of fortifying the southern border with those materials."

EPA orders states to accept waste from Ohio train derailment site | 17 March 2023 | The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ordered states with approved and available toxic waste facilities to accept materials transported from the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. The move, announced by EPA director Michael Regan at a news conference Friday morning, comes after governors in Oklahoma, Michigan and other states have recently turned away shipments. The EPA also ordered Norfolk Southern to move faster to get the toxic waste out of the area. The two new EPA orders requires Norfolk Southern to speed up the removal process and requires contractors to take legal action against EPA-licensed disposal facilities that refuse to honor their contracts. Every state has been notified that states cannot stop shipments of out-of-state waste from East Palestine, Regan said.

When is a crime not a crime? Signs of the Times

On Monday, Suella Braverman published draft guidance designed to rein in the police habit of recording a 'non-crime hate incident' (NCHI) against a person's name whenever someone accuses them of doing something politically incorrect. You may think I'm exaggerating, but in 2017 an NCHI was recorded against Amber Rudd, then the home secretary, after an Oxford professor complained about her references to 'migrant workers' in a Tory party conference speech. NCHIs can show up on an enhanced criminal record check even though, by definition, the person hasn't committed a crime. The concept first surfaced in guidance published by the College of Policing in 2014 and within five years 119,934 non-crime hate incidents had been recorded by 34 police forces in England and Wales, according to FoI requests submitted by the Telegraph. Nine police forces didn't respond, but if we assume they were logging NCHIs on the same scale, it's likely that more than a quarter of a million have been recorded...

Tournament axed after Russian inclusion Signs of the Times

A tournament under the jurisdiction of the Fdration Internationale d'Escrime (FIE) scheduled for Germany in May has been canceled after the federation voted to allow the inclusion of competitors from Russia and Belarus. Sportspeople from both countries have been banned from taking part in many major sporting events for the past year, following advice issued by the International Olympic Committee soon after the launch of Russia's military action in Ukraine in February 2022. The directive was subsequently adopted by various other sporting federations, resulting in the blacklisting of Russia and Belarus from several sports. The FIE, however, voted in favor last week of reinstating Russian and Belarusians to its events, with the upcoming event in Germany being among the first major tournaments at which they would have been eligible to compete. However, Germany's Deutscher Fechter Bund (DFB) President Claudia Bokel, said the FIE vote had "triggered heated discussions both internally...

6 Brutally Honest Reasons Why I Keep Cutting People Out Of My Life Awareness Act

Once upon a time, I wouldnt cut anyone out of my life. There were many times that I would excuse the worst behavior in the name of loyalty, and now, that is no longer who I am.

Do not get me wrong, I still consider myself to be a loyal person. However, sometimes that means I need to be loyal to myself first and foremost. Throughout my life, there were times when I ignored the red flags and let people take advantage of me because I thought that somewhere within them, there was light. Many times over, I found out that some people just arent meant to be in my life.

Below, I will go over 6 brutally honest reasons why I have started cutting people out of my life.

1. No shared moral ground.

There is a huge difference between having a few differences and having completely different morals and ethics. At the end of the day, it is nearly impossible to be around someone who sees the world in a completely different light than you do. Now, dont get me wrong, I can accept that people have different morals, I just prefer not to share my space and time with them regularly.

2. I noticed legit red flags.

As soon as I notice red flags like lying, manipulation, a continued victim mentality, abuse, etc., I am done. Far too many times have I let someone tell me a sob story and then take advantage of me or the people I love. I will no longer stand for this.

3. Disrespect.

When someone continues to disrespect you, they are telling you who they are and while once upon a time, I didnt listen, I do now. If someone disrespects me, I am out.

4. I simply dont have time for games.

I refuse to play games. If I notice someone who is always pitting people against each other, gossiping about me and my friends, or always trying to stir the pot, they are out.

5. Dishonesty.

Dishonesty is a big deal to me because if you are dishonest to me, I cannot take you seriously. After all, I cannot trust you. Without trust, I cannot have you in my life.

6. They are taking more than they are giving.

Some people are natural-born givers and some are takers. In life, there should be a balance. However, if I notice someone just keeps taking and taking and taking and never gives back, they are likely going to get the boot right on out of my life.

The First Full Moon Of Spring Is Coming Causing Chaos Under The Surface Awareness Act

Its getting close to springtime and while that means that flowers will begin to bloom, days will grow longer and life will begin to spring back into action once more, it also means that the pink moon is drawing closer. On April 6th, the full moon will be upon us, and it is under the sign of Libra.

The April full moon is traditionally called the full Pink moon because, during the times in which native tribes were figuring out the world around them, they used different names to understand the moon and the time of year surrounding it. Due to the beautiful pink blooms on the flowers that would begin to grow during this time, they dubbed the moon the Pink moon.

This moon has a lot of meaning behind it, far beyond that. One interesting thing worth noting is that during this time, the Sun is in Aries and the moon is in Libra. Aries represents the self and Libra represents others, according to Cafe Astrology, and during this time, we need to strike a balance between ourselves and our relationships.

During this time, it is important to make sure you arent attending to only your needs and allowing others to fall behind, and that you arent doing the opposite either. There is a need for balance to have a healthy relationship with yourself and with others. The key is harmony. Additionally, during this time, you can expect major epiphanies surrounding your relationships.

Uranus will be in harmony with the Sun and the moon, and Jupiter and Chiron will be in alignment with the Sun during this lunation. This will push us forward onto the path of healing, which will aid in finding harmony from within and also within our relationships.

Chaos & the Secret Order to Everything Armstrong Economics

Economics is the ONLY field where cycles are denied. Moreover, people do not even comprehend how COMPLEXITY emerges. Alan Turing was a brilliant mathematician who is probably the father of computers for he built the really first computer to break the German Enigma Machine. He invented the computer and broke the German Enigma Code. You can watch the movie The Imitation Game to get a general idea of his achievement.

But Turing did something even far more astonishing. He had a theory that within nature, what appears to be chaos was just a mask that hides a natural order. He was the first to think that there might be a mathematical order that defines nature. There is a mysterious aspect of Morphogenesis. All the cells in an embryo are identical. Then the cells begin to clump together and actually become different from each other. The mystery was how identical cells know to form different things such as skin, eyes, brain, or bone. There is no central command center.

Turing 1952 Morphogenesis

The phenomenon of Morphogenesis is what is the essence of mystery. This process becomes self-organization. Before Turning, absolutely nobody had any idea of how this process even worked. It was also a great mystery of life itself. It was Turning who published on March 15th, 1952, the Ides of March 3.14, his mathematical explanation of Morphogenesis. Turnings formula was revealing for it uncovered a secret order behind the mask of chaos. Despite being one of the most brilliant minds ever and all his contributions even breaking the German code, because he was a homosexual, a judge order him to prison or subject him to hormone injections to cure him. He committed suicide on June 7th, 1954 because of the abuse of the government which ignored all his contributions.

The OCA Targets My Work: Fr David Galloway, Archbishop Benjamin & Bishop Alexander Jay Dyer JaysAnalysis.com

This was originally going to be a talk on the Day Tapes but I received a response from Fr David Galloway as I was streaming. Fr Galloway has determined via a survey my work is bad and should be classed with Public Orthodoxy, Orthodoxy in Dialogue and The Wheel, because I cause problems for priests. In reality. Fr Galloway was tasked with leading this charge most likely by Archbishop Benjamin, who famously mandated diocesan shut downs and forbade icon veneration. Instead of seeing these policies as the cause of the OCA losing many parishioners, these individuals have chosen to blame myself and conspiracy theories for their problems.

UK and France narrowly avoid power supply emergency Signs of the Times

French and British grid operators narrowly missed having to declare a power-supply emergency last week during a late winter cold snap that coincided with low wind generation. Comment: A repeating problem. The UK was due to export electricity to France during peak evening demand on March 7. National Grid Plc's control room issued a rare market warning of a looming shortage which couldn't be addressed through usual measures like asking plants to generate more or by cutting consumption. The company asked French counterpart Reseau de Transport d'Electricite to sell back some of the exports that were due to flow to ease the situation, but the French grid said no, slides published Wednesday show. RTE said it needed the power and would have to ask for Emergency Assistance, a rarely used status.

International Criminal Court issues arrest warrant for Putin for suspected 'unlawful deportation of child population' from Ukraine to Russia Signs of the Times

The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russia's Children's Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, the court said in a statement on Friday. The statement said they could be responsible "for the war crime of unlawful deportation of population (children) and that of unlawful transfer of population (children) from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation." ICC arrest warrants are usually secret in order to protect victims and witnesses and also to safeguard the investigation. However, the court stated that it authorized the public disclosure of the existence of the warrants, the names of the suspects and the crimes for which the warrants are issued, because "the conduct addressed in the present situation is allegedly ongoing, and that the public awareness of the warrants may contribute to the prevention of the further commission of crimes."

US nuclear plant leaks 400,000 gallons of radioactive water, high levels of tritium found in groundwater near to Mississippi River Signs of the Times

A broken pipe at Xcel Energy's Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant leaked about 400,000 gallons of water containing radioactive tritium, and the utility is working to clean up the contaminated plume, state regulators said Thursday. Both Xcel and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency said there was no risk to drinking water from the spill, which was traced to a pipe connecting two buildings across just a half-inch space. Comment: It's probably for the best that the authorities claim, yet again, that there's 'no risk from yet another potential environmental disaster, because perhaps people will soon start to wise up to the fact that, at least some of the time, they're probably lying. The spill was first reported to state and federal regulators on Nov. 22, 2022. The source was found Dec. 19 and patched soon after, according to the MPCA. Xcel and the state are actively managing the site to make sure an underground plume of tritium doesn't begin to drift beyond the property, including...

Why has so little been said in the Australian Parliament about Julian Assange? (We) can do better

The following article has been adapted from the handed out at the weekly Vigil for Julian Assange in the evening of Friday 17 March 2023 at Melbourne's Flinders Street Station: Julian Assange, the multiple award-winning Australian journalist, has been imprisoned in solitary confinement for 23 hours per day in London's Belmarsh prison since April 2019 - almost four years ago. This followed almost seven years in which, to avoid extradition to the United States, Assange had to remain confined to within the small spaces of the Equadorian Embassy where he had been granted asylum.

In all, Julian Assange has been confined for almost 11 years, when he has broken no Australian law and no British law and, as has has been admitted by the US military, no life has ever been endangered as a consequence of any of his Wikileaks' publications.

Now, Assange is subject to a ruling that he be extradited to the United States, to face trial for his supposed breech of the 1917 Espionage act when he is not even a citizen of the US nor has ever been there. There is no way that any fairly selected jury, nor any judge with integrity, would have made any of these rulings. Only a thoroughly corrupt judge under direct orders from the British government would have been capable.

In the US, Assange is to face trial, not before the Supreme court, nor before any of the US district courts, but before a kangaroo court, otherwise known as the Grand Jury of the eastern district of Virginia. Due to demographics, jurors there tend to be comprised of either employees of the CIA, the NSA and other intelligence agencies which have their national headquarters nearby, or their relatives.

The Grand Jury has, on nearly every occasion, found the accused guilty. The chance of Assange not being found guilty of "endangering US national security" by this court is nil. Once convicted, he will be sentenced to imprisonment in solitary confinement in conditions even worse than the worst he has been made to endure at Belmarsh, for the rest of his life. Julian Assange has said himself that he would consider such a fate worse than death.

How could any capable person of good-will not be outraged and disgusted by this? How could any good person not be resolved to use means available to them to free Julian Assange from this?

In fact, as Australian PM Anthony Albanese surely realises, this treatment of Assange is clearly in violation of both UK law and international law, and the plans by the Grand Jury to convict Assange clearly violate the First Amendment to the Unite...

Contracts show CDC bought phone data to monitor Americans' compliance with lockdowns Signs of the Times

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) purchased data from tracking companies to monitor compliance with lockdowns, according to contracts with the firms. The CDC paid one firm $420,000 and another $208,000. That bought access to location data from at least 55 million cellphone users. The contracts, approved under emergency review due to the COVID-19 pandemic, were aimed at providing the CDC "with the necessary data to continue critical emergency response functions elated to evaluating the impact of visits to key points of interest, stay at home orders, closures, re-openings and other public heath communications related to mask mandate, and other merging research areas on community transmission of SARS-CoV-2," the contracts, obtained by The Epoch Times, state.

Back in December, I noted that OpenAI's much-heralded chatbot "Chat GPT" appeared to be politically biased - not surprisingly, against conservatives. Scott Ritter: The Nord Stream - Andromeda cover up Signs of the Times

U.S. intelligence was too quick to leak information about the German investigation to The New York Times. It raises the distinct impression that the real culprit is nervous about the investigative work of Seymour Hersh. Back in 2000, the television series Andromeda premiered, based upon unused material from Gene Roddenberry, the creator of the Star Trek series and franchise. The plot is premised on the notion of a spaceship, "Andromeda," frozen in time, which is given the opportunity to reverse the clock and undo history. The series ran five years. Fast forward to the present. History has dealt a tough hand to the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden, who openly confessed his intent to "bring an end" to the Nord Stream pipeline system which delivered Russian natural gas to Europe through four pipelines (Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2, consisting of two pipelines each). Since then, the Biden White House was compelled to deny the president's stated intent after an explosive...

Warning of civil war, Herzog unveils framework for judicial reform; PM rejects it Signs of the Times

President Isaac Herzog on Wednesday unveiled his "People's Framework" proposal to replace the government's plans to radically overhaul the judicial system, in a primetime address to the nation in which he urged both sides of the debate "not to destroy the country" in a power struggle over the judiciary, but rather seize the opportunity for "a formative constitutional moment." Herzog called his plan, drafted after hundreds of hours of deliberations in recent weeks with politicians, jurists and experts from across the political spectrum, "a golden path" that offers the best chance for a broad national agreement on reform. "This framework protects each and every one of you, the citizens of Israel. This framework protects Israel as a Jewish and democratic state." He said his framework, if adopted, would constitute a victory for all Israelis. He stressed: "The proposal is fully obligated to the principles of the Declaration of Independence. It entrenches the independence and autonomy of...

Credit Suisse still has a fight on its hands despite $54 billion lifeline Signs of the Times

A scramble by Switzerland's authorities to shore up confidence in Credit Suisse went some way to calming panicked investors Thursday, but the country's second-biggest bank may yet need more help if it is to survive. Credit Suisse said it would borrow up to 50 billion Swiss francs ($53.7 billion) from the Swiss National Bank, taking advantage of a lifeline offered by the central bank late Wednesday after the lender's stock had crashed as much as 30% to a new record low. It also said it would buy back some of its own debt. In a statement early Thursday, CEO Ulrich Krner said: "I took 'decisive action' to strengthen the bank as its continues to implement a major overhaul announced last fall. My team and I are resolved to move forward rapidly to deliver a simpler and more focused bank built around client needs." Credit Suisse's shares soared 32% at the open but erased some of those gains to close up 19% in Zurich. The cost of buying insurance against the risk of default by the bank...

France on verge of 'democratic breakdown', Macron warned Signs of the Times

French president was booed in parliament after raising the retirement age without giving lawmakers a vote... France is on the verge of a "democratic breakdown", Emmanuel Macron was warned last night after he rammed his unpopular pension reform through parliament without a vote. The opposition said the controversial move was a denial of democracy and an admission of weakness while unions warned it was tantamount to a declaration of war. A spontaneous demonstration of several thousand people erupted on Thursday night in the Place de la Concorde, in Paris, where fires were lit and protesters clashed with police. To chants of La Marseillaise and "resign" from the opposition, lisabeth Borne, the French prime minister, announced that her minority government would trigger article 49.3 of the constitution that bypasses a vote. In scenes of high tension, she declared: "We cannot gamble on the future of our pensions, and this reform is necessary." Mr Macron reportedly told ministers during...

Thousands of pounds of uranium go missing in African nation: UN nuclear watchdog Signs of the Times

The International Atomic Energy Agency said in a confidential report this week that 2.5 tons of natural uranium have gone missing from a site in Libya that is not controlled by the government. Reuters reported that the U.N. nuclear watchdog informed member states of the news this week, according to documents viewed by the publication. A statement from IAEA chief Rafael Grossi said: "The inspection was supposed to happen last year, but had to be postponed because of the security situation in the region. Investigators found that 10 drums containing approximately 2.5 tons of natural uranium in the form of UOC (uranium ore concentrate) previously declared by (Libya) ... as being stored at that location were not present at the location. The loss of knowledge about the present location of nuclear material may present a radiological risk, as well as nuclear security concerns." Officials said that investigations were already underway to locate the missing nuclear materials. The name and...

A 'fire wolf' fish could expand what we know about one unusual deep-sea ecosystem Signs of the Times

The animal's existence could help scientists better understand a lukewarm methane seep... Off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica sits a deep-sea chimera of an ecosystem. Jac Scar is a methane seep, where the gas escapes from sediment into the seawater, but the seep isn't cold like the others found before it. Instead, geochemical activity gives the Scar lukewarm water that enables organisms from both traditionally colder seeps and scalding hot hydrothermal vents to call it home. One resident of the Scar is a newly identified species of small, purplish fish called an eelpout, described for the first time on January 19 in Zootaxa. This fish is the first vertebrate species found at the Scar and could help scientists understand how the unique ecosystem developed. Jac Scar was discovered during exploration of a known field of methane seeps off the Costa Rican coast and named for the nearby town of Jac. It is "a really diverse place" with many different organisms living in various...

Our tax dollars are funding the development of media-monitoring products that can be deployed to censor ordinary Americans via Big Tech. The Department of Defense is grooming for-profit, media-rating grifters to develop AI censorship technology for the U.S. government, an investigation by The Federalist reveals. Open-source research reveals this troubling development is driving the warp-speed growth of the Censorship-Industrial Complex and several other concerning details. Following last week's congressional hearings on the Censorship-Industrial Complex, attention focused on the media-ratings giant NewsGuard and its relationship with the DOD after the company's CEO declared it is not "government-funded." But, as The Federalist reported, in 2020 NewsGuard received a $25,000 award from the federal government to conduct a pilot study, after winning the COVID-19 Disinformation Challenge. Mendacity: Biden claims high school gay marriage 'epiphany' despite voting record Signs of the Times

President Biden has said he experienced an "epiphany" while in high school that led him to support gay marriage but his voting record as a senator and remarks made over the following decades suggest otherwise. Biden, 80, was asked during an interview Monday byThe Daily Show host Kal Penn about his evolving views on same-sex marriage and how the federal government could protect LGBTQ Americans. The president answered Penn, "I can remember exactly where my epiphany was" before launching into a story about his father dropping him off when he was a high school senior. "I remember about to get out of the car and I look to my right and two well-dressed men in suits kissed each other. ... And I'll never forget it, I turned and looked at my dad and he said, 'Joey, it's simple. They love each other,'" Biden recalled.

UFO congress hearing2

By Mayukh Saha / Truth Theory

Tim Burchett, a Congressman from Tennessee, has alleged quite a few times that the American government has been dealing in reverse-engineered technology from UFOs. In a recent interview with Newsweek, he claimed that the government had recovered multiple crafts over time. He mentioned that he had been in conversation with quite a few pilots in the upper echelons of the Navy who had informed him that there was something that the government was definitely trying to use all the ET craft that they had managed to salvage over the decades.

Kremlin spokeswoman Maria Zakharova: US blackmailing 'neutral' European state Signs of the Times

Washington is attempting to make Switzerland drop its arms re-export ban, foreign ministry has warned The US ambassador to Switzerland appeared to blackmail the Swiss government when he asserted in a recent interview that Bern is in no position to maintain neutrality over the conflict in Ukraine, a senior Russian diplomat has insisted. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova was commenting on recent remarks made by US envoy Scott Miller, and connecting them with this week's fall in the share price of Credit Suisse, a leading Swiss financial institution. "Considering that the second-largest Swiss bank plunged right after three American banks went bust, such a statement looks like direct blackmail," Zakharova said Thursday on social media.

Israel explains reluctance to arm Ukraine - bound by 'certain agreements' with Russia Signs of the Times

Israel is not supplying Ukraine with any weapons because it is bound by certain agreements with Russia over neighboring Syria, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday. Speaking at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin, Netanyahu was asked whether Israel would continue to refrain from sending arms to Kiev. The prime minister admitted that when it comes to this issue, Israel had found itself "in a complex situation." "Israeli pilots and Russian pilots are flying within spitting distance of each other over the skies of Syria," he said, adding that several years ago he had decided to stop Iran, Israel's arch enemy, from creating a "third front" against the Jewish state on its northern border. Israel has repeatedly warned Syria against sheltering Hezbollah militia members, an organization it has designated as terrorist and deems to be linked to Iran. Syrian officials have on numerous occasions accused Israel of conducting deadly strikes on the...

Broken Science Initiative Signs of the Times

Recently, I was in Phoenix Arizona for a few days to attend the Broken Science Initiative Conference. This organisation was set up by Greg Glassman, who founded CrossFit, and Emily Kaplan, a media expert. The title of the organisation may give you a clue as to its purpose. For my part I gave a presentation on medical research, and where I believe it has gone wrong. How I had once been a happy medic believing everything I was told ... well almost. Then, one day I took the red pill. Suddenly, I became uncomfortably aware that we were all being kept in a vast goo-filled factory, guarded by evil metallic robots who were trying to harvest our electricity for their own ends. Nothing was as it had seemed. In the film, the Matrix, I was never quite sure why solar panels wouldn't do the job of electricity generation. Also, I was never quite sure what the 'ends' of the robots were either. But hey, why ruin a perfectly rather...

How and Why Obama Downed the MH17 Passenger Plane on 17 July 2014 Dissident Voice

Before the MH17 passenger plane was shot down over the civil-war zone in Ukraine on 17 July 2014, U.S. President Barack Obama needed to persuade 9 EU countries that were opposed to adding more sanctions against Russia needed to force them to approve adding those sanctions. He needed to supply them with evidence that Russia was doing heinous things in Ukraines civil war. On 15 July 2014, Russias RT headlined 9 EU countries ready to block economic sanctions against Russia, and reported that:

France, Germany, and Italy are among EU members who dont want to follow the US lead and impose trade sanctions on Russia. US sanctions are seen as a push to promote its own multibillion free-trade pact with Europe.

France, Germany, Luxembourg, Austria, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Slovenia, and EU President Italy see no reason in the current environment for the introduction of sectorial trade and economic sanctions against Russia and at the summit, will block the measure, a diplomatic source told ITAR-TASS.

In order for a new wave of sanctions to pass, all 28 EU members must unanimously vote in favor. EU ministers plan to discuss new sanctions against Russia at their summit in Brussels on Wednesday, July 16. Even if only one country vetoed, sanctions would not be imposed. With heavyweights like France and Germany opposed to more sanctions the measure will likely again be stalled, the source said.

After the plane was shot down, America, UK, and Ukraine immediately said that Russia and Russian-backed separatists in Ukraine did it, and then, within just a few weeks, all 9 of the EU hold-outs switched to approve the added anti-Russian sanctions that Obama wanted.

Label 'unfriendly countries' more apropos to elites than countries per se Putin Signs of the Times

The Russian president lamented the fact that the political systems in many countries "often bring people to prominence who have a rather low level of education and general cultural awareness. MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin has termed the phrase 'unfriendly countries' inexact and incorrect, because it is not so much the countries themselves but rather their elites or leaders that are unfriendly. "The phrase 'unfriendly countries' has entered the public consciousness and into common usage here. But, it does not accurately reflect existing realities. You could say that it doesn't reflect the reality at all, because what we have are unfriendly elites in a certain number of countries, unfriendly rulers," Putin stated at the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) on Thursday. He lamented the fact that the political systems in many countries "often bring people to prominence who have a rather low level of education and general cultural...

The Not-So-Winding Road from Iraq to Ukraine Dissident Voice

U.S. soldiers breaking into a home in Baquba, Iraq, in 2008   Photo: Reuters

March 19 marks the 20th anniversary of the U.S. and British invasion of Iraq. This seminal event in the short history of the 21st century not only continues to plague Iraqi society to this day, but it also looms large over the current crisis in Ukraine, making it impossible for most of the Global South to see the war in Ukraine through the same prism as U.S. and Western politicians.

While the U.S. was able to strong-arm 49 countries, including many in the Global South, to join its coalition of the willing to support invading the sovereign nation of Iraq, only the U.K., Australia, Denmark and Poland actually contributed troops to the invasion force, and the past 20 years of disastrous interventions have taught many nations not to hitch their wagons to the faltering U.S. empire.

Stanford Law Dean's shameful attack on free speech means this for the education mob Signs of the Times

A Stanford Law School Dean asks 'is the juice worth the squeeze' in disgraceful response to invited campus speaker "Is the juice worth the squeeze?" While it may sound like hipster gibberish, it could well prove to be the epitaph for free speech at Stanford University. Those were the words of wisdom of Stanford DEI Dean Tirien Steinbach in what could go down as one of the most disgraceful moments in modern legal education. For years, free speech has been in a free fall on our campuses. Many faculty members have virtually purged conservatives and libertarians from their ranks in what has become an academic echo chamber. It is common for conservative speakers to be blocked or canceled with the support of professors and students alike. Yet, what occurred at Stanford this week shocked even those of us who have challenged this orthodoxy for years.

Social Media and Your Mental Health: The Hidden Truths You Need to Know Awareness Act

Social media has become an integral part of our daily lives, connecting us with friends, family, and the world. However, while it offers numerous benefits, it can also have a significant impact on our mental health. Lets explore both the positive and negative effects of social media on mental health, and discuss ways to maintain a healthy balance.

Positive Effects of Social Media on Mental Health:

  1. Staying connected: Social media allows us to maintain relationships and stay in touch with friends and family, even when they live far away.
  2. Finding support: Online communities and forums can provide valuable support for individuals dealing with mental health issues or going through challenging times.
  3. Learning and personal growth: Social media can be a source of inspiration, educational content, and self-improvement resources.
  4. Self-expression and creativity: Platforms like Instagram and Pinterest encourage creative expression and can foster a sense of accomplishment and self-worth.

Negative Effects of Social Media on Mental Health:

  1. Comparison and envy: Seeing others carefully curated highlights can lead to feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem.
  2. Cyberbullying: Online harassment and bullying can have severe consequences on mental health, particularly for vulnerable individuals.
  3. Fear of missing out (FOMO): Constant exposure to other peoples experiences can create anxiety about missing out on events or social opportunities.
  4. Addiction and compulsive behavior: The instant gratification and constant stimulation of social media can lead to addiction and negatively affect mental health.

Strategies for Maintaining a Healthy Balance:

  1. Set boundaries: Limit your time on social media and establish specific times during the day for checking your accounts.
  2. Be mindful: Practice mindfulness when using social media and focus on the content that genuinely brings you joy or value.
  3. Disconnect regularly: Schedule regular digital detox periods to recharge and reconnect with the offline world.
  4. Seek support: If youre struggling with the impact of social media on your mental health, consider reaching out to a mental health professional or joining a support group.

Social media can be both a blessing and a curse for our mental health. By understanding its potential effects and implementing strategies to maintain a healthy balance, we can enjoy the benefits of connection while minimizing the risks to our well-being.

Destruction of the Amazon Rainforest Destabilizes the World Dissident Voice

A new 40-year study discovered the eye-opening fact that what happens in the Amazon Rainforest impacts the entire Earth system. This puts an exclamation point on the fact that the Amazon Rainforest, the planets most crucial source of life support [NASA and NOAA attribute about half of the oxygen production on Earth to the ocean, thanks largely to phytoplankton DV ed], is in deep trouble mainly because of massive deforestation.

The Amazon River Basin is the worlds largest rainforest, larger than the next two largest rainforests combined, the Congo Basin and Indonesia, and roughly the size of the forty-eight contiguous United States covering 40% of South America including parts of Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana Suriname and French Guiana.

According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF):

The Amazon is of vital importance because people around the world, as well as locally, depend on the rainforest. Not just for food, water, wood and medicines, but to help stabilize the climatearound 76 billion tonnes of carbon is stored in the Amazon rainforest., The trees in the Amazon also release 20 billion tonnes of water into the atmosphere per day, playing a critical role in global and regional carbon and water cycles.

The 40-year study links Amazonian deforestation to reduced Tibetan snows and Antarctic ice loss. Both carry serious consequences, respectively, loss of natures water towers for millions of people as sea levels rise everywhere.

The study analyzed 40 years of air temperatures, concluding that the climate of the planet is a function of several disparate forces that interact such that a new planetary state hostile to life may be underway. The study analyzed hourly near-surface temperatures accumulated by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecast across a global grid of 65,000 locations for a 40-year cycle.

Specifically, the study demonstrated how air temperature changes in one region rippled through the climate system to affect temperatures in other parts of the globe....

Its Your Human Right to Access Russian News and Analysis Sites in English if You Want Dissident Voice

Its your human right: Access Russian news and analyses sites in English if you want

Collage Jan Oberg 2023

The human right to freely seek information is laid down in the American Convention on Human Rights from 1968. Article 13 states that Everyone has the right to freedom of thought and expression. This right includes freedom to seek, receive, and impart information and ideas of all kinds.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights from 1948 states in Article 19 that: Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights of 1966 states in Article 19 that: 1) Everyone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference. 2) Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice.

Note above the words freedom to and no interference.

Im not a lawyer, but common sense compels me to believe that such high-level human rights declarations are violated when Western politicians actively prevent you from accessing certain leading Russian media such as RT (Russia Today) and Sputnik.

Its would seem also to be an interference in your free search for information when you are constantly told that Russia is one big disinformation machine (and never do comparative studies of NATO countries and their disinformation and disinfomation budgets) which is meant to make you doubt anything coming out of Russia.

There is also the putting up descriptions e.g., on Facebook that point out that this is a Russia state media implicitly meaning, therefore, less trustworthy. The proxy server/VPN Surfshark has even tried to put up a red wa...

NRL to Launch First In-Space Laser Power Beaming Experiment The Black Vault

The following was a press release sent out by the Navy Research Labs (NRL) on March 14, 2023. It is archived here for reference purposes.

NRL to Launch First In-Space Laser Power Beaming Experiment

By Mary E. Hamisevicz

The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory is set to launch the Space Wireless Energy Laser Link (SWELL) to demonstrate laser power beaming in space as part of the scheduled U.S. Department of Defense Space Test Program (STP) H9 mission to the International Space Station (ISS) March 15.

SWELL is one of several experiments that will launch aboard the SpaceX Dragon cargo vehicle to the ISS for the yearlong mission to collect data during a laser power beaming link in space conditions. The experiment, which is sponsored by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition & Sustainment (OUSD (A&S)) and supported by the Operational Energy Capability Improvement Fund (OECIF), will explore challenges for power beamings viability for space applications, and also highlight the possibilities for using power beaming to address energy challenges on Earth.

With this modest experiment, we will identify key focus areas for developing links of greater power and longer distance for space, said Paul Jaffe, Ph.D., Electronics Engineer and SWELL Principal Investigator. By employing laser transmitters and photovoltaic receivers, power beaming links will be established that will pave the way for rapid, resilient, and flexible energy delivery systems.

Power beaming is a means of delivering energy in the form of electromagnetic w...

Every St Patricks Day, Everywhere, All at Once Dissident Voice

Patrick banishing the snakes
March 17 is traditionally St Patricks Day, a day when Irishness is celebrated all over the world. This date is traditionally held to be the date of the death of St Patrick  (c.385 c.461), the patron saint of Ireland. It is marked by parades through the main cities and towns of Ireland, and in recent years it has become popular as a festival around the world with famous buildings being lit up green and major rivers being dyed green.

However, in recent decades the symbolism of St Patricks Day has changed dramatically and promotes negative stereotypes (e.g., leprechauns) of the Irish people to a world audience. This is not good for Ireland or the Irish people.

It must also be noted that St Patrick is seen as the patron saint of Ireland because he defeated pagan ideology in favour of Christianity. However, pagan ideology had a strong connection with nature and the cycles of nature that resulted in seasonal festivals such as Beltaine (1 May), Lughnasadh (1 August), Samhain (1 November) and Imbolc (1 February).

St Patrick

Not a lot is known about Saint Patrick except he is believed to have been a Romano-British Christian missionary who was kidnapped by Irish raiders and brought to Ireland as a slave. After six years as a shepherd he went home and became a priest. He then returned to Ireland to convert the pagan Irish to Christianity. He is famously believed to have driven the snakes out of Ireland despite the fact there is no record that Ireland ever had snakes.

It is more likely that the snakes refer to the pagans themselves:

Scholars suggest the tale is allegorical. Serpents are symbols of evil in the Judeo-Christian traditionthe Bible, for exampl...

The Nature Book, Reviewed Organikos

Neither the author of the book,  nor Cara Blue Adams who reviews it in the essay below, is familiar in our pages. But it is an essay that evokes familiar themes, so here goes:

Searching for Unfamiliar Terrain in The Nature Book

We go to the wilderness to test ourselves against an environment indifferent to our presence. Can this experience be re-created in fiction?

The Wilderness Act, passed in 1964, established the National Wilderness Preservation System to safeguard federally owned land, beginning with 9.1 million acres, called wilderness areas, to be designated for preservation and protection in their natural condition. Wilderness was defined as a place essentially untouched by humankind, one where a person is a visitor who does not remain. The desire for places where we are not is a deep and multifaceted one. Because of the climate crisis, this desire is increasingly urgent; into this charged atmosphere comes The Nature Book, an experimental novel by Tom Comitta. The Nature Book is entirely made up of descri...

This is an extract from my book Regenesis: feeding the world without devouring the planet. Ive been prompted to publish it here by a new phase in the cattle lobbys campaign to persuade us that its products are green.

In recent years a new front in the public relations war has opened, promoting a remarkable claim: if managed in a particular way, animal farming can restore the living world and reverse climate breakdown.

Such assertions had been made for three decades. But they remained obscure until, in 2013, TED published a 20-minute talk by the rancher Allan Savory[1]. He maintained that by raising the numbers of cattle, sheep and goats kept on drylands in one case by 400% and using planned grazing in a holistic management system, he could reverse soil erosion and the spread of deserts, restore lush vegetation, bring back wildlife and even undo climate change. He showed before-and-after photos that appeared to provide spectacular proof of his claims.

His talk has now been watched 11 million times, between the TED site and YouTube[2]. His story was taken up by several documentaries, including the viral Netflix film, Kiss the Ground, narrated by Woody Harrelson[3].

I like Allan. When I was diagnosed with cancer, he sent me a kind and charming email. I know hes sincere and believes what he says. But, as soon as I watched his talk, I noticed that at least one of his claims could not possibly be correct. He stated that if we follow his prescription, we can take enough carbon out of the atmosphere to take us back to pre-industrial levels.

Since 1750, roughly 490 billion tonnes of carbon have been released from fossil fuels, and around 190 billion tonnes by cutting forests, draining wetlands, ploughing soils and other kinds of land use[4]. So, to return atmospheric carbon to pre-industrial levels, grassland soils would need to absorb 680 billion tonnes[i].

Since the dawn of agriculture, roughly 133 billion tonnes of carbon are reckoned to have been lost from the worlds soils[5]. Of this, between 70 and 90 billion tonnes has been released from steppes, savannahs and grasslands, the ecosystems Allan is talking about[6]. As the great soil scientist Rattan Lal notes, the carbon lost from the worlds living systems is roughly equivalent t...

Iranian government proposes new measures to enforce hijab law, including surveillance Signs of the Times

Iranian authorities have proposed new measures to enforce the compulsory wearing of the hijab in the country, including the use of surveillance cameras to identify and punish women who fail to comply with the dress code amid months of nationwide unrest sparked by the death of a young woman while in police custody for allegedly not wearing her head scarf properly. In a public session of the Iranian parliament on March 14, Bijan Nobaveh a member of the Cultural Commission revealed that the body has proposed seven new measures related to the hijab, which have been fully endorsed by the leadership and discussed at the National Security Council. Under the new proposals, physical punishment will not be allowed. Violators instead will be punished according to a predetermined table. The surveillance cameras will be used to monitor public spaces for women not wearing the hijab, and offenders will be punished subsequently with measures that include cutting off their mobile phone and Internet...

Canadian Cancer Society: 'Trans women' should consider screenings for 'neo-cervix' cancer Signs of the Times

The Canadian Cancer Society is advising men it describes as "trans women" who have had "bottom surgery" to discuss cervical cancer screenings with their doctors while acknowledging that men do not have cervixes. Men with a "neo-cervix" or "neo-vagina" created via surgery have "a very small risk" of developing cancers in these tissues, claimed the Canadian charity in a section titled "As a trans woman, do I need to get screened for cervical cancer?": If you're a trans woman, you may not have given much thought to Pap tests and cervical cancer. And if you haven't, that makes a fair amount of sense. After all, in order to get cervical cancer, you need to have a cervix that is, the organ that connects the vagina to the uterus. If you're a trans woman and have not had bottom surgery, you aren't at risk for cervical cancer. If, however, you're a trans woman who has had bottom surgery to create a vagina (vaginoplasty) and possibly a cervix, there's a very small risk that you can develop...

San Francisco becomes latest Democratic city to crack down on gas appliances Signs of the Times

San Francisco regulators moved forward with regulations banning future sales of certain natural gas-powered appliances as part of the Democrat-led city's climate agenda. The Bay Area Air Quality Management District, which oversees air pollution and emissions regulations for the nine counties surrounding San Francisco, greenlighted amendments to regulations Wednesday evening related to eliminating nitrogen oxide emissions from natural gas furnaces and water heaters in the region. The action requires all commercial and residential furnaces and water heaters to be electric by 2027. "The 1.8 million water heaters and furnaces in the Bay Area significantly impact our air quality, resulting in dozens of early deaths and a wide range of health impacts, particularly in communities of color," Dr. Philip Fine, the executive officer of the Air District, said Wednesday in a statement. "This groundbreaking regulation will phase out the most polluting appliances in homes and businesses to...

Leaky Gut Terra Forming Terra

This tells us how hard it is to treat but curiously supports the use of specific tropical worms in the gut to rebuild the natural habitat.

I actually like that approach because you can get infected, allow them to do the job at hand, then take a course of wormwood to eliminate.

We all should do such a course anyway and to sustain it long enough to eliminate cycts that may be at hand and hatch.

Just know that a course of tropical worms can possibly fix the problem.  Do not expect any doctor to ever tell you that.

Secret Pfizer & Government Documents reveal Millions Dying Suddenly Terra Forming Terra

Not quite AIDS ,but same profile and worse, it is not getting better. What i am saying is that if 1.8 million diedover the past two years, will 1.8 million die in the next two years.

If that actually happens, or god forbid, we see a a  steady increase, then the real event will be a slow creeping AIDS like pandemic where folks die from any damn infection.

If 4,000,000,000 are infected, then we will see the 4,000,000,000 reported to me from the other side.  At least the path is now clearer.

Secret Pfizer & Government Documents reveal COVID Vaccination has caused Antibody-Dependent Enhancement, V-AED & AIDS resulting in Millions Dying Suddenly

Confidential documents reveal that within months of receiving the initial doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, some individuals are developing Antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) and Vaccine-Associated Enhanced Disease (VAED).

And as if that werent alarming enough, official documents also prove that a mysterious form of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is also appearing in a disturbing number of recipients just five months after their initial injections.

This may explain why, tragically, official Government records confirm that millions of people have mysteriously died suddenly in countries around the globe, including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Europe, in the wake of the widespread distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) and Vaccine-Associated Enhanced Disease (VAED). are serious adverse events that can occur after vaccination.

ADE and VAED can occur when an individual is exposed to a pathogen, such as the alleged Covid-19 virus, after receiving a vaccine tha...

Death stalks mRNA vaccination in New Zealand Terra Forming Terra

Death stalks mRNA vaccination in New Zealand

https://expose-news.com/2023/03/14/death-stalks-mrna-vaccination-in-new-zealand/

As we enter into another year, excess all-cause deaths for the first six weeks of 2023 in New Zealand are running at 700 deaths higher than the long-term 2010 to 2019 average (as reported by the authoritative Human Mortality Database which tabulates official New Zealand government data).

Allowing for an increase in the population of New Zealand since 2019 of 269,000, excess deaths are running approximately 17% above 2019 rates and 24% higher than the excess death rate over the same six-week period in 2022. In other words, the rate of excess deaths appears to be accelerating. That should be alarming and certainly cause for discussion and analysis, but apparently, no one in authority cares.

Drone incident confirms US involvement in Ukraine conflict - Russia Signs of the Times

Moscow will attempt to recover the wreckage of the American MQ-9 Reaper drone that fell into the Black Sea on Tuesday, the secretary of the Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, has announced. Speaking live on federal broadcaster Rossiya 1 on Wednesday, the official admitted that he doesn't know if it will be possible to reach to the remains of the UAV but stressed that it was important to make an effort to find and study the wreckage. Patrushev also added that "Americans keep saying that they are not participating in the hostilities" in Ukraine and that this latest incident with the drone is "yet another confirmation that [the US] are directly involved" in the ongoing military conflict. The secretary's statement comes after Washington's European Command (EUCOM) reported that one of its MQ-9 Reaper drones was brought down over the Black Sea on Tuesday morning as a result of "unsafe and unprofessional" actions by two Russian Su-27 fighter jets. The Pentagon insists that one...

Yellen Casts Doubt of Covering All Depositors Armstrong Economics

We have a serious problem here. Depositors in a bank are NOT risking their money as an investor in a hedge fund. They expect honesty and stability. If the bank is trading and doubles its money, it belongs to the shareholders not the depositors. Likewise, a loss belongs to the shareholders and that means 100% of all deposits MUST be covered PERIOD!

Even Senator Lankford fails to understand that simply because a Chinese national is a depositor it does NOT justify defaulting on them. That would mean that all foreigners should remove their money from the United States. It would also be against the Constitution. When this nation was formed, we adopted TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION and rejected the monarchy system of jurisdiction. If you killed someone in Paris but you were British, the French would arrest you and could not charge or punish you because you were the property of the King of England. They would send you back to your king and explain what you did and it was up to your king to determine what to do.

We adopted TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION whereas if you were British but killed an American, you stood trial in America and they rejected the idea that you were the property of the King of England. ALL depositors, regardless of their origin, MUST be treated the same as any citizen. You cannot have it both ways. So, sorry. Senator Lankford, you are wrong. We MUST cover even a deposit by Putin or the Communist Party of China. Otherwise, ALL foreign investors should also sell ALL their holdings of US debt PERIOD!

Yellen has cast doubt on this policy and it is a warning that all banks have this same crisis in the collapse of long-term debt because of this endless pit into which we are throwing money called Ukraine. We stand NOTHING to gain from this insanity. It is nothing more than the personal vindictiveness of the Neocons who have transformed Ukraine into an Anti-Russia spearhead and American foreign policy into the aggressor in the quest for World War III. All Neocons should be arrested for treason. Only Congress can declare war. This is a proxy war that has not been declared and has no benefit to...

What Reagan Would NOT Do Armstrong Economics

America should violate international law to begin World War III, or as Senator Lindsey Graham worded it: We should hold [Russia] accountable and say that if you ever get near another U.S. asset flying in international waters, your airplane would be shot down. Graham suggested last year that we simply assassinate President Putin, so this was not in response to a Russian jet clipping an unmanned US drone. Graham is so invested in destroying Russia that he has been the only Republican senator to visit Ukraine since the war began.

All the Neocons point to Ronald Reagan. In this same interview, Graham asked, What would Ronald Reagan do? Liz Cheney recently criticized DeSantis for saying Ukraine should not be a priority by invoking the Reagan card. Her dad even ran on a platform of wanting to exemplify Reagans policies as his own. Reagan was against communism, but the current conflict has absolutely nothing to do with communism or a fallen empire.

Ronald Reagan was the most respected Republican president since Abraham Lincoln. The Neocons, like Graham, effectively stand for everything that Reagan rejected. When I wrote to Reagan warning in 1985 that the forma...

The Old Guy in the Corner of the Room Armstrong Economics

COMMENT: Marty, I hate to tell you but the reason you saw this coming was that you are old like me. LOL. Do you realize that the 2007-2008 crisis was 16 years ago! Time flies, my friend. Most traders at these banks are under 35. That means that they have never seen anything like this and could not smell, taste, or see it coming. When we were youngsters, the old guy in the corner of the room would always say this is like 1929. Remember him? We are that guy today. I will buy you a Dewars when I get to Florida. The good news is we wont have to endure this insanity much longer.

Financial Crisis of 2023 Armstrong Economics

QUESTION #1: Marty, I think your warning about the collapse of leadership in government and the private sector rings true as Ken Griffin, the founder of hedge fund Citadel, said the rescue of Silicon Valley Bank shows the U.S. economic system is breaking down before our eyes because they bailed out the depositors. Yet Carl Icahn seems to agree with your saying that the U.S. economy is at a breaking point because of inflation. He said, every hegemony has been destroyed by inflation.

Very few so-called billionaires seem to understand whats at stake. It makes me think they were just lucky in how they made their money. After Griffins comment, I would not be inclined to invest in Citadel. Then a group of banks is talking about depositing $20 to $30 billion to save Republic bank.

Is there any hope for the future when leadership is absent in these times of chaos?

UT

QUESTION #2: Thanks for everything you do. At the WEC, you warned about banks and even the big funds. The turning point was at the end of January here in 2023. Is it possible that this financial crisis will be the major factor even overpowering war when the ECM comes into play by April 10th?

Efforts to end workplace gender inequality are misdirected.

Initiatives to strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are ubiquitous. According to Gallup, most companies (85%) have anti-bias training, nearly three-quarters (73%) have focused DEI training for managers, and more than half (52%) have mentoring and sponsorship programs. Yet, despite the time, resources, and attention devoted to DEI, very few organizations have made meaningful progress toward increasing the proportion of women in their senior leadership ranks, much less building truly inclusive workplace cultures.

8 Common Phrases Parents Say That May Accidentally Raise Entitled Children Awareness Act

In todays fast-paced, ever-changing world, raising well-rounded and respectful children is a top priority for many parents. However, sometimes the language we use can unintentionally contribute to the development of entitled attitudes. Lets explore eight common phrases parents often say that may accidentally raise entitled children and provides alternatives to promote healthier mindsets.

1. Youre so smart!

Praising intelligence can create a fixed mindset, making children believe their abilities are inherent and cannot be improved. Instead, focus on their effort and hard work: I can see you put a lot of effort into solving that problem!

2. You deserve the best!

While its essential to encourage self-worth, this phrase may instill a sense of entitlement. Try saying, Youve worked hard, and you should be proud of your accomplishments! to promote gratitude and humility.

3. Ill do it for you.

Constantly doing things for your child can make them feel entitled to others help. Encourage independence and problem-solving skills by saying, Why dont you give it a try? Im here to help if you need me.

4. You always get what you want.

This phrase can reinforce the idea that children should expect to have their desires fulfilled. Instead, teach them the value of patience and compromise: Sometimes, we cant have everything we want, but we can work together to find a solution.

5. Im sorry youre upset.

Apologizing for your childs emotions may lead them to believe that their feelings are more important than others. Encourage empathy by saying, I understand youre upset, but lets try to see things from the other persons perspective.

6. Youre the best at everything!

Constantly praising your child can create unrealistic expectations and entitlement. Opt for specific praise, such as, You did a great job practicing and improving your soccer skills!

7. You dont have to share.

While its okay for children to have personal belongings, its crucial to teach them the value of sharing. Encourage generosity by saying, Its important to share and take turns so that everyone can enjoy playing together.

8. Theyre just jealous.

This phrase can make your child feel entitled to success and dismiss the feelings of others. Instead, foster empathy and self-reflection: Not everyone will agree with us, but its essential to respect their opinions and learn from them.

As parents, our words have a significant impact on shaping our childrens attitudes and beliefs. By be...

Parenting the Explosive Child: 7 Steps to Create Lasting Change Awareness Act

Dealing with an explosive child can be an emotionally exhausting experience for parents. The unpredictability and intensity of their emotional outbursts can often leave parents feeling helpless, overwhelmed, and unsure of how to respond. However, by understanding the root causes of your childs explosive behavior and implementing specific strategies, you can create lasting change and foster a more harmonious parent-child relationship. This article outlines seven steps to help you and your child navigate these challenging moments and build a stronger, healthier bond.

1. Understand the underlying causes

Explosive behavior in children can be attributed to a variety of factors, including emotional regulation difficulties, neurological differences, or unmet needs. Take the time to observe and understand the triggers for your childs outbursts. This insight will allow you to address the root cause of the problem and provide a more targeted response.

2. Maintain a consistent routine

Children thrive on structure and predictability. Establishing a consistent daily routine can help reduce anxiety and minimize emotional outbursts. Ensure that your child has a regular sleep schedule, balanced meals, and allocated time for physical activity, relaxation, and play.

3. Teach emotional regulation skills

Help your child develop emotional regulation skills by teaching them to identify and express their feelings in a healthy manner. Encourage them to use I statements, like I feel angry when to express their emotions. Additionally, teach them calming techniques, such as deep breathing exercises, counting to ten, or visualization.

4. Set clear expectations and consequences

Establish clear expectations for your childs behavior and communicate the consequences of not meeting those expectations. Ensure that consequences are age-appropriate, fair, and consistently enforced. This will help your child understand the connection between their actions and the resulting outcomes.

5. Offer praise and positive reinforcement

Celebrate your childs successes and positive behavior. Offer praise, rewards, or other forms of positive reinforcement to acknowledge and encourage their efforts. This will help build their self-esteem and motivate them to continue making progress.

6. Foster open communication

Maintain an open line of communication with your child. Encourage them to share their thoughts and feelings with you, and actively listen to what they have to say. By creating a safe and supportive environment, your child will feel more comfortable discussing their emotions and seeking help when needed.

7. Seek professional support

If your childs explosive behavior persists despite your best efforts, consider seekin...

What Happens When Someone Gives Their Partner The Silent Treatment Awareness Act

When it comes to relationships, silence is not golden. While it may seem like a good idea to ice your partner out when you are frustrated or upset, at the end of the day, doing so regularly will only slowly destroy your relationship.

Many people use the silent treatment to get their partner to bend to their will. Some also may use it as a punishment of sorts. However, based on the research, many negative outcomes will unfold when we give our partners the silent treatment. One researcher, Christine E. Rittenour, published a study about the impact of silent treatment in relationships.

What she found was that adult children participants reported that their silent-treatment behaviors were related to negative self-esteem, and that their primary parent was often negatively related to that parents silent treatment.

Rittenour found that for relationships to be sustained, there was a need for partners to warmly and openly discuss their feelings, rather than icing their partner out.

Additionally, they found that silent treatment was often used as a means for one partner to convey their feelings to the other partner. In many ways, the silent treatment perpetrator simply wanted to make their partner feel how they were feeling. However, it is also a power dynamic that has the potential to destroy relationships.

Not only does it destroy the partner who is on the receiving end, but it also destroys the perpetrator. At the end of the day, holding things in will never benefit either partner. The only way to move through relationship issues is to talk them out. When you ice out your partner, you are robbing both yourself and your partner of finally finding a way through the conflict.

This is a struggle many of us have faced. Over the past few years, necessities, like meat, eggs, dog food, and produce (Hello, $9 a head lettuce, I am looking at you) have skyrocketed. I never in a million years thought eggs would jump from $.60 a dozen in 2019 to $8.00 a dozen in 2023. Thankfully, in the past few weeks, eggs have gone down by a few dollars, but is this trend going to continue in other areas?

Unfortunately, economists predict that grocery prices will steadily increase. In fact, the U.S. Department of Agriculture predicted that food prices will climb by 8% throughout the year 2023. Even worse, while egg prices have slowed down and even decreased, economists say they will lead the inflation pack with a 37% increase this year. The good news? Beef and pork prices will decrease by 1%

Another sad layer of these price increases is that many major conglomerates and corporations are using the common knowledge consumers now have regarding inflation to pass use price gouges without consumers knowing any difference. What I mean, is that corporations like Kroger, who recently bought out Albertsons are currently growing. Recently, according to MSN News, Kroger bought out Albertsons in a $25 billion deal. In turn, they will combine their 5,000 stores into a mega company. This leads to far less choice, which makes it easier for these mega corporations to jack up their prices.

Even if you do not have Kroger or Albertsons near you, they are not alone. Many corporations are benefiting and growing during a time that is crippling the middle and lower classes, who are merely trying to feed their families.

So, if you think your grocery bill is bad now, just give it till the end of the year.

5 Ways Parents Crush Their Childs Self-Esteem Awareness Act

Many parents want their children to feel adjusted, comfortable, and confident and to be happy and successful in their lives. However, the one major key that opens the door to all of that is self-esteem, and while many parents claim they wish for their child to have all of these things, they are participating in many behaviors that will effectively ensure they never do by inadvertently destroying their self-esteem.

That may sound dramatic, but self-esteem is a big deal. If we struggle with how we view ourselves, if we never gain any confidence or trust in ourselves, we will struggle throughout our lives. Kids with low self-esteem never reach for their dreams and if they do, they do so half-hazard. They struggle in friendships and relationships, and they struggle with tendencies that can be self-sabotaging. If you are a parent that wants their child to succeed, then please make sure you arent participating in the following behaviors.

1. Being overly critical.

There is a fine line between helping your child to get better, and completely tearing them down at every turn. The thing is, you should be holding your child accountable, but you should steer clear of nitpicking and over-criticizing. Yes, they do need guidance, however, they do not need you to tear them down at every turn.

2. Never allow them to have any responsibilities.

A major key that helps your child to develop confidence in themselves is having responsibilities. If you allow them to get out of their responsibilities, such as chores, you are robbing them of their ability to gain confidence in themselves. Chores and responsibilities help your child gains a sense of accomplishment and mastery.

3. Yelling and hitting.

It has always been odd to me that parents teach their kids to act right by acting fools themselves. Before you all come for me, imagine trying to teach your child impulse control while lacking impulse control in your self. At the end of the day, yelling and screaming, and hitting only make your child feel a lack of trust in you and themselves.

4. Expecting perfection.

Holding your child to unrealistic expectations and standards that are impossible to reach is the equivalent of setting them up for failure. At the end of the day, your child is going to grow tired of always being set up to fail and eventually, you will diminish their self-esteem.

5. Fostering a victim mentality.

When you say things like, We will never have a life like that because we were born poor, you are reinforcing the belief that circumstances are out of your childs control. In turn, your child is more likely to host their pity parties and develop a victim mentality.

Mercury Is About To Go Retrograde And You Need To Brace Yourselves! Awareness Act

By now, most people have heard of Mercury retrograde. If you have not, Mercury retrograde is the infamous transit that happens a few times each year and causes a bit of chaos.

You see, all of our planets have a retrograde phase, and during this phase, they seemingly slow down to the point of spinning backward. Each of the planets represents its own energy and Mercury rules over travel, communication, expression, and electricity. When Mercury begins to spin backward, it can cause some mishaps in these areas. During this time, communication is sure to feel off. You are likely to experience technical difficulties. Some report that old patterns re-emerge in their lives during this time as well.

For example, you may feel pushed to revisit old habits. Some even feel drawn by their ex during this time. (Dont do it!)

However, Mercury retrograde isnt all bad. Mercury retrograde can be a beneficial transit if you use it as an opportunity to work on yourself and slow down and go inward. Mercury will go retrograde three times this year. The first will happen pretty soon, on April 21 until May 14. This retrograde will be under the influence of Taurus and the shadow phase begins on April 7. During the Mercury retrograde shadow is when most people experience the urge to fall back into bad habits or relationships.

Mercury will go retrograde again in August from the 23rd until September 15, under the sign of Virgo. Then, to close the year out, Mercury will retrograde once more in December from the 13th until January 1, 2024 (Happy New Year) under the sign of Sagittarius.

The upcoming retrograde in Taurus will be a tricky one. Taurus energy may make us all a bit headstrong and stubborn, and during this time, we may struggle to stay grounded and practical. One good way to use the Mercury retrograde is to SLOW DOWN. Practice mindfulness during this time. Pay attention to your thoughts, patterns, and behaviors. Self-awareness is key. If you find yourself feeling hazy during this time, do not be afraid to take time for yourself. The pre-shadow and post-shadow (two weeks before and two weeks after) is the best time to do shadow work, and honestly, to me, feels like when the energy is the most intense, so brace yourselves.

Armenia raises fears of Azerbaijan escalation in area overseen by Russian peacekeepers with Putin Signs of the Times

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Tuesday he had complained to President Vladimir Putin about "problems" with Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, warning of an escalation in the restive Caucasus region. Armenia and Azerbaijan have fought two wars for control of the Armenian-majority region and the latest conflict in 2020 ended with the deployment of Moscow's forces. Pashinyan's comments are the latest sign that Armenia, which relies on Russia as a security guarantor, is growing frustrated with the Kremlin whose attention is focused on Ukraine and confrontation with the West.

Two active volcanoes on Venus revealed in images taken by NASA's Magellan spacecraft 3 decades ago Signs of the Times

Scientists discovered evidence of active volcanoes on Venus, also known as Earth's "twin", while closely studying the archival images of the planet. The images were captured by NASA Magellan spacecraft in the early 1990s while it was circling the planet. A new analysis of the perspective of the orbiter of a region close to the Venusian equator revealed a volcanic vent which changed shape and increased in size in the period of eight months.

Ancient ring ditch unearthed in Derbyshire, UK Signs of the Times

Staff from our Newark office have unearthed some exciting archaeology at a new industrial development at Dove Valley Park in Derbyshire, working on behalf of Orion Heritage and Clowes Developments (UK) Ltd. Cropmarks on aerial photographs hinted at the presence of several ring ditches and linear ditches on and close to the site. Our team confirmed the existence of these features through trial trench evaluation. We then conducted a strip, map and sample excavation to fully reveal and investigate the remains, leading to the discovery of a complete ring ditch and a substantial linear ditch. The ring ditch during excavation, with a possible entrance visible in the foreground. There was at least one re-cutting of the ring ditch, suggesting maintenance and possible longevity of use.

'Hostile, authoritarian' UK downgraded in civic freedoms index, follows move by gov't to restrict public protest Signs of the Times

The UK has been downgraded in an annual global index of civic freedoms as a result of the government's "increasingly authoritarian" drive to impose restrictive and punitive laws on public protests. The Civicus Monitor, which tracks the democratic and civic health of 197 countries across the world, said the UK government was creating a "hostile environment" towards campaigners, charities and other civil society bodies. The UK's willingness to clamp down on civic freedoms such as the right to peaceful assembly means it is now classified as "obstructed" - putting it alongside countries such as Poland, South Africa and Hungary.

Bail outs: Credit Suisse 'borrows' $54 billion, major US banks rescue First Republic with $30 billion 'injection' Signs of the Times

Large U.S. banks injected $30 billion in deposits into First Republic Bank (FRC.N) on Thursday, swooping in to rescue the lender caught up in a widening crisis triggered by the collapse of two other mid-size U.S. lenders over the past week. Banking stocks globally have been battered since Silicon Valley Bank collapsed last week due to bond-related losses that piled up when interest rates surged last year, raising questions about what else might be lurking in the wider banking system. Within days, the market turmoil had ensnared Swiss lender Credit Suisse (CSGN.S), forcing it to borrow up to $54 billion from Switzerland's central bank to shore up liquidity.

Caroline van der Plas's Farmers-Citizen Movement (BBB) is projected to become the equal largest party in the senate, taking 15 seats from none before the vote. The Left-wing GroenLinks/PvdA is also expected to win 15 seats, in the wake of months of turbulent farmer protests against government plans to cut nitrogen emissions. Peer-reviewed paper cites Stephen Meyer to critique Darwinian Evolution Signs of the Times

In an article yesterday I noted that a peer-reviewed paper published last year in Progress in Biophysics and Molecular Biology, titled "Neo-Darwinism Must Mutate to Survive," offered potent probability arguments against the Darwinian evolution of a complex molecular pathway. These arguments, presented by authors Olen R. Brown and David A. Hullender, in many respects resemble intelligent design probability arguments. Importantly, the authors seem aware that intelligent design offers similar arguments, and they appear to agree that these hold some merit: Probability reasoning has been applied to the evolution alternative known as intelligent design by Elliott Sober who argued that 'Darwinian gradualism' and 'random genetic drift' are reasonable 'evolutionary processes' to overcome weaknesses in natural selection by survival of the fittest (Sober, 2007). We challenge these assumptions. Stephen Gould, and Niles Eldredge initiated a controversy described in the book Punctuated...

What 'Chornobyl dogs' can tell us about survival in contaminated environments Signs of the Times

In the first step toward understanding how dogs and perhaps humans might adapt to intense environmental pressures such as exposure to radiation, heavy metals, or toxic chemicals, researchers at North Carolina State, Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, University of South Carolina, and the National Institutes of Health found that two groups of dogs living within the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, one at the site of the former Chornobyl reactors, and another 16.5 km away in Chornobyl City, showed significant genetic differences between them. The results indicate that these are two distinct populations that rarely interbreed. While earlier studies focused on the effects of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster on various species of wildlife, this is the first investigation into the genetic structure of stray dogs living near the Chornobyl nuclear power plant. The 1986 Chornobyl nuclear power plant disaster displaced more than 300,000 people living nearby and led...

Disasters of State: On the Earthquakes in Turkey and Syria CrimethInc.

On February 6, 2023, two earthquakes of magnitude 7.8 and 7.7 hit southern Turkey and Northern and Western Syria, inflicting tremendous damage. The death tolls are currently estimated at over 48,400 in Turkey and 7200 in Syria. The following texts offer two different vantage points on the ways that the Turkish and Syrian governments not only failed to protect their subjects but used this catastrophe as an opportunity to consolidate power and target their adversaries via neglect, blockading, and even bombing.

This story is familiar throughout the region. In Greece, on February 28, a northbound passenger train full of students returning from Greek carnival collided head-on with a southbound cargo freight train traveling on the same track, killing at least 57 people. Though the scale of these tragedies bears no comparison, both events underscored the ways that these regimes have accumulated resources for themselves rather than taking steps to preserve public safety. At the same time, both Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoan and Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis have used these disasters as a pretext to seek to delay elections in hopes of holding on to power. There is no other pill to take, so swallow the one that made you ill.

As our world lurches further into crisis, we are likely to see this story play out on a wider and wider stage. Natural disasters will not free us from oppressive state power; rather, authoritarian governments and natural disasters will function in concert with each other to immiserate us unless we develop interconnected ways of responding to both at the same time.

Against the opportunism and violence of the state, we are inspired by the international grassroots mobilization with which communities around the world have responded to the earthquake. This models the sort of horizontality and solidarity that will be necessary if we are to survive what is shaping up to be a century of cataclysms. But in order for our efforts to succeed, we have to understand both the earthquakes and the state as aspects of the same catastrophe and take action against both of them.

Towards that end, we present two analyses of the situation in Turkey and Syria: the first from supporters of the movements for liberation in the regions of Bakur and Rojava, the second from supporters of the revolution in western Syria.

Scientists offer evidence that Venus is volcanically active Signs of the Times

Venus appears to have volcanic activity, according to a new research paper that offers strong evidence to answer the lingering question about whether Earth's sister planet currently has eruptions and lava flows. Venus, although similar to Earth in size and mass, differs markedly in that it does not have plate tectonics. The boundaries of Earth's moving surface plates are the primary locations of volcanic activity. New research by University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute research professor Robert Herrick revealed a nearly 1-square-mile volcanic vent that changed in shape and grew over eight months in 1991. Changes on such a scale on Earth are associated with volcanic activity, whether through an eruption at the vent or movement of magma beneath the vent that causes the vent walls to collapse and the vent to expand. The research was published today (March 15) in the journal Science.

Transneft reports explosive devices found at Russian pipeline Signs of the Times

The oil transport company says it has uncovered evidence of a plot to attack the connector supplying oil to western European markets Workers at the Russian oil pipeline transport company Transneft have reportedly found several explosive devices at the Novozybkov oil-pumping station of its Druzhba pipeline in the Bryansk region near Ukraine, according to company spokesperson Igor Demin. Speaking to TASS, he stated that on Tuesday evening and on Wednesday morning, the devices were found in destroyed plastic cases of "non-industrial production" with a striking warhead in the form of steel balls. "Presumably, the destruction of the cases occurred after hitting the ground when falling from drones," Demin suggested. He added that on Wednesday afternoon another explosive device was seen being dropped from a UAV, "likely similar to the other two [devices]."

Power transformer shortage is wreaking havoc in the U.S. Signs of the Times

The New Scientist carries a story dated 11 March 2023 with this headline: A nationwide shortage of power grid transformers is causing delays across the US for everything from infrastructure for electric vehicles to new homes. Across the US, new houses sit unfinished - construction can't be completed until they are connected to the electricity grid. Utility companies worry about how quickly they can restore power after damage caused by hurricanes and other natural disasters. And nationwide efforts to modernize aging electrical grids face delays of months or even years.

US banking crisis poses global threat, former Treasury official tells RT Signs of the Times

Contagion could spread to Europe and beyond, Paul Craig Roberts warns... The policies of the US Federal Reserve are responsible for the unfolding banking crisis and could lead to more failures in the sector, Chairman of the Institute for Political Economy Paul Craig Roberts believes. The official, who served in the US Treasury in the 1980s, talked to RT about the recent high-profile bank failures that have rattled the US financial system and the potential fallout of those events. "For many years, the Federal Reserve kept the rates very low, so the interest on the financial assets that the banks have on their balance sheet is low. When the rates start rising, the values of their portfolios fall, but their liabilities don't. "The Fed's policy of high interest rates pushes the banks into insolvency. And this is the cause of the problem. If the Fed continues raising interest rates, there will be more failures."

Seymour Hersh warns of potential US plan B in Ukraine Signs of the Times

Washington could clash with Moscow's forces if Kiev starts to lose, the veteran journalist argues... The US could get directly involved in the Ukraine conflict if it sees that Kiev's forces are on the back foot, Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Seymour Hersh suggested on Tuesday. Speaking at an event in Washington, DC hosted by the Committee for the Republic, a non-profit organization, Hersh noted that the US "did stupid things" during the Vietnam War, and suggested that Washington could "start doing something else" in the Ukraine conflict. "I don't know what happens if it goes bad for Ukraine, you have all this manpower," he said, pointing out that the US has dispatched units of its 82nd and 101st elite airborne divisions close to the Ukrainian border, while "a lot of weapons and arms are coming" to Europe. "We cannot, because we would go above 10%. It's a regulatory issue," Saudi National Bank chairman Ammar Al Khudairy said on Wednesday. US arrests Chinese tycoon Guo Wengui, who backed Trump advisor Bannon Signs of the Times

A Chinese tycoon wanted in China and closely tied to president Donald Trump's former political advisor Steve Bannon was arrested in New York Wednesday and charged with bilking some US$1 billion from supporters of his anti-Beijing activities. The US Justice Department accused Guo Wengui and still-at-large British co-conspirator Je Kin Ming of stealing funds from participants in an investment scheme so they could buy luxuries, including a yacht, a 50,000 square foot (4,645 square meter) mansion and a US$3.5 million Ferrari. A court official said late Wednesday that Guo pleaded not guilty but consented to detention in an initial arrest hearing. Hours after his 6:00 am arrest at his Manhattan penthouse apartment overlooking Central Park, a fire broke out in his building, raising suspicions the two could be linked.

Tyson to close 2 chicken plants, cutting 1,700 jobs Signs of the Times

Tyson Foods Inc. plans to shut down two of its poultry plants and lay off nearly 1,700 workers as it tries to improve its chicken operations that produce about one-fifth of the U.S. supply. Tyson notified the nearly 1,000 employees at its Van Buren, Ark., chicken plant on Monday that it would close on May 12, the company said. About 700 workers at Tyson's plant in Glen Allen, Va., also found out on Monday that its plant would close in May, according to the local United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, which represents employees at the Virginia plant. The Springdale, Ark.-based meat company said production would be shifted to other Tyson plants. The company said the closures were part of a broader plan in its chicken division to improve operations and use full available capacity at each plant. "The current scale and inability to economically improve operations has led to the difficult decision to close the facilities," a company spokesman said in a statement.

Ancient structures in the Arabian desert reveal fragments of mysterious rituals Signs of the Times

We might be getting closer to understanding why hundreds of large stone structures were built across the deserts of northwest Saudi Arabia thousands of years ago. According to an in-depth new analysis, the mysterious, rectangular enclosures were used by Neolithic people for unknown rituals, depositing animal offerings, perhaps as votives to an unknown deity or deities. Excavations have revealed hundreds of fragments of animal remains, clustered around an upright slab of stone interpreted as sacred. The roughly 7,000-year-old monuments known as mustatils (an Arabic word meaning rectangles) have baffled archaeologists since attracting scientific attention in the 1970s. It wasn't until 2017, however, that the full extent of their spread across the Arabian Peninsula was revealed in the first scientific paper documenting their discovery. Aerial surveys have aided in the identification of over 1,600 mustatils, sometimes in groups, scattered throughout the desert. Nicknamed 'gates'...

Sexual politics is damaging young men Signs of the Times

Masculinity has been in crisis for as long as anyone can remember. The usual explanation is that post-industrial society doesn't much care for brawn. We're all office dwellers now, mutely churning out spreadsheets for other spreadsheet producers. The theory makes sense as far as it goes. But something else has changed much more recently: a rejection of the very concept of masculinity. The polling company YouGov found that just 8 per cent of people have positive views of white men in their twenties, by far the lowest of any ethnicity or age group. Males are routinely presented as inherently dangerous, aggressive and animalistic, incapable of controlling their own instincts. You can see it on public transport, where government adverts announce that staring is sexual harassment. Us blokes can't even be trusted to use our eyes properly. Teenage boys are routinely disciplined by their schools for even the most minor infractions of an insurgent sexual politics. A friend's son at a smart...

BEST OF THE WEB: BlackRock's tyrannical ESG agenda Signs of the Times

Is Larry Fink a threat to democracy? As February turns to March, the finance world is waiting with bated breath for one of its most dubious annual traditions: The Larry Fink Annual Letter to CEOs. Since 2012, when the BlackRock chief executive wrote his first letter, the occasion has come to symbolise the growing threat both to shareholder capitalism and American democracy posed by investment houses' crusade to force the principles of ESG, or "environmental, social, and governance" investing, down the throats of companies, investors, and the public. ESG first entered the investment and banking mainstream as a survival strategy. In 2009, BlackRock had acquired Barclay's Global Investors Ltd, making it the largest investment firm in the world with almost $3 trillion in assets under management (AUM), a sum larger than the total revenue of the US federal treasury. Politically speaking, BlackRock's emergence as an investment superpower could hardly have come at a worse time. Amid the...

Beware: Oscar-winning 'Navalny' documentary is packed with misinformation Signs of the Times

"Navalny" is a slick production full of highly dubious claims, misinformation, and enough new Cold War propaganda impact to win an Oscar for best documentary. The Oscar-winning 2022 documentary film Navalny tells the story of the opposition figure who has become the West's favorite Russian activist. Despite having garnered the support of about 2% of Russian voters, according to the polling firm Levada, Alexei Navalny is presented in the film as a national hero whose anti-corruption work made him such a threat to Vladimir Putin that he had to be targeted for elimination. The film's authors are Canadian Daniel Roher, who admits to having never visited Russia or speaking Russian; Bulgarian Christo Grozev of Bellingcat, an "open source" media organization openly hostile to the Russian government, and which acknowledges financing by governments of the US, UK and EU. The production team also includes the Russian opposition activist Maria Pevchikh, who has worked for Navalny's...

Never Trust a Member of the Parasite Class Dissident Voice

One of my favorite New Testament stories can be found in John 2:13-16:

When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the Temple courts, he found men selling cattle, sheep, and doves and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords and drove all from the Temple, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. To those who sold doves, he said: Get out of here.

Scion of a predatory lineage of parasites, George W. Bush claims to love Jesus and even went as far as proclaiming June 10, 2000, to be Jesus Day in Texas.

On that day, he pronounced: I urge all T...

Title VI Complaint Filed Against George Washington University Over Hostile Environment of Anti-Palestinian Racism MintPress News

Last month, a Palestinian rights group filed a federal complaint against George Washington University (GW), alleging the institution allows discrimination against Palestinians to persist unabated on campus.

Palestine Legal filed a federal complaint with the United States Department of Educations Office for Civil Rights, demanding it investigates what the organization describes as a years-long, hostile environment of anti-Palestinian racism.

The legal rights group is representing three students who say they have experienced anti-Palestinian discrimination from fellow classmates, professors, administrators, and GW Hillel, a Jewish campus organization.

According to the complaint, George Washington University canceled a virtual processing space for Palestinian students after the universitys Hillel complained. The elimination of the processing space ultimately denied mental health services to Palestinian students. In one incident, a Palestinian student, who had been shot by an Israeli soldier while studying remotely from her home in the occupied West Bank, could not access trauma support services because the processing space was no longer available.

There is simply no justification for GWs racist, bigoted treatment of Palestinians, Radhika Sainath, Palestine Legals senior staff attorney, said. Even if pro-Israel groups dont like it and complain, the law is clear, Palestinian students are entitled to the same education and services as other students.

In a statement to MintPress News, George Washington University said it has not seen the complaint, adding that the [u]niversity strongly condemns hatred, discrimination and bias in all forms, and we are committed to fostering an environment in which the entire community feels safe and free of harassment, hostility or marginalization.

In another instance, the complaint details how a student associated with the universitys Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), a college activism organization, was falsely accused of vandalism by GW Hillels executive director, Adena Kirstein.

On 24 February 2023, the Chinese Foreign Ministry released a twelve-point plan entitled Chinas Position on the Political Settlement of the Ukraine Crisis. This peace plan, as it has been called, is anchored in the concept of sovereignty, building upon the well-established principles of the United Nations Charter (1945) and the Ten Principles from the Bandung Conference of African and Asian states held in 1955. The , and have organised a at 1pm on Saturday 18 March outside the State Library of Victoria. As the Australian armed forces with its eight US-manufactured nuclear-powered hunter-killer submarines, costing a staggering $170 billion, and used in its planned war against China, the need for protest action to stop this is more urgent than ever.

This planned war against China is only one component of the United States' overall war against humanity, upon which it embarked in 1945, following the end of the Second World War. One estimate of the cost, so far, of this war - in Korea, Vietnam, Africa, the Middle East and elsewhere - is 20 million lives.

Protestors will also be calling on the Australian government to act to use the power vested in it to end the illegal imprisonment and torture of Julian Assange by the UK government and also to prevent the US government's no-less-illegal efforts to have him extradited to the US to face trial before a kangaroo court and thence imprisonment in solitary confinement for the rest of his life.

If you are free in six weeks time, on the afternoon of Saturday 18 March, please be there at the State Library at 1pm to add your voice to those opposed to the United States' war plan...

After the implosion of the FTX crypto exchange run by Sam Bankman Fried, questions of due diligence and competency immediately arose, suggesting that perhaps the company mishandled assets accidentally and that Fried was naive and in over his head. They claimed that without oversight by banking elites, disaster was inevitable.

A "Too Big To Fail" Bank In Europe Is Literally On The Brink Of Collapse BlackListed News

Do you remember when wealthy people all over the world would stash their money in Swiss banks because there were so strong and so private? Well, the second largest bank in Switzerland is literally on the brink of collapse. As I discussed yesterday, Credit Suisse is a prime candidate to be one of the next dominoes to fall. It has been on very shaky ground for a long time, and now the global banking panic has greatly accelerated the outflow of assets from the bank. So why should you care if it fails? Unlike Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank, Credit Suisse is so critical to the worldwide banking system that it has officially been designated as being systemically important by the international Financial Stability Board

Sunshine Week: Shining a light on money in politics Original Journalism from OpenSecrets News

March 12-18 is Sunshine Week. As part of this annual celebration aimed at promoting transparency, OpenSecrets is shining a light on key issues related to money in politics. Our fact-filled reporting follows the money behind billions of dollars that poured into the 2022 midterms, record state-level political fundraising, pop-up super PACs, dark money, revolving door lobbyists and more!

State and federal midterms cost $16.4 billion with state-level fundraising projected to reach nearly $7.5 billion

OpenSecrets projects state-level election fundraising for 2021 and 2022 elections to reach nearly $7.5 billion, putting the total cost of state and federal midterms at over $16.4 billion.

Pop-up super PACs poured millions into high-stakes congressional races without disclosing their donors ahead of the 2022 general election

Pop-up super PACs poured $6.6 million into federal midterm races during the 2022 cycle but kept their funders hidden until after Election Day.

March 12-18 is Sunshine Week, an annual celebration aimed at promoting transparency. This story is part of a series highlighting OpenSecrets work to shine a light on key areas related to money in politics at the state and federal level.

As the last state-level campaign finance disclosures for 2021 and 2022 elections are collected, OpenSecrets projects state-level political committees raised a record $7.4 billion. Federal political spending reached $8.9 billion, pushing the total cost of state and federal midterms to more than $16.4 billion, slightly down from OpenSecrets pre-election projection.

Candidate, party committee and ballot measure committee fundraising has already reached almost $6.9 billion during the 2022 election cycle, approaching the $7 billion inflation-adjusted record from 2018. PAC and super PAC fundraising are excluded from this analysis because variations in state committee classifications and poor or inconsistent disclosure requirements create challenges in collecting or comparing these data across states. Because of the large number and variable formats of state campaign finance reporting, the last of the reports are still being collected for the 2022 cycle.

State candidate fundraising figures are projected to reach about $5 billion, and Republican candidates and party committees continue to slightly outpace their Democratic counterparts. Party committee fundraising exceeded $1.1 billion and ballot measure committees attracted more than $1.3 billion.

ConocoPhillips increased lobbying spending in 2022 ahead of Biden-approved oil project Original Journalism from OpenSecrets News

ConocoPhillips supercharged its federal lobbying operation in 2022 as it sought final approval for Willow, the controversial oil project in the Alaskan Arctic that President Joe Bidens administration authorized Monday.

ConocoPhillips spent $8.7 million on federal lobbying last year, a nearly twofold increase compared to 2021 and the most the multinational oil company spent on lobbying in more than a decade, an OpenSecrets analysis of federal lobbying disclosures found.

Issues lobbied range from taxation to oil and gas regulations writ-large, and disclosures filed by the Texas-based company specifically mention lobbying the federal government for authorization to build its long-delayed project.

Willow initially received federal permits in the final months of former President Donald Trump's administration, but a judge found flaws in the governments environmental impact assessment and halted development in 2021. Climate activists, who said the project undercuts Bidens goal of reducing planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions, urged the administration to block development permanently.

Candidates spend a record amount of campaign funds on childcare in 2022 midterms Original Journalism from OpenSecrets News

March 12-18 is Sunshine Week, an annual celebration aimed at promoting transparency. This story is part of a series highlighting OpenSecrets work to shine a light on key areas related to money in politics at the state and federal level.

Federal candidates reported using campaign funds to cover over $280,000 in childcare expenses during the 2022 midterm election cycle, a 17% increase from the 2020 election cycle, a new OpenSecrets analysis found.

The Federal Election Commission announced childcare is a legitimate use of campaign funds in 2018. Since then, more candidates have spent more money on childcare every election cycle, according to OpenSecrets analysis.

!function(e,t,s,i){var n="InfogramEmbeds",o=e.getElementsByTagName("script"),d=o[0],r=/^http:/.test(e.location)?"http:":"https:";if(/^\/{2}/.test(i)&&(i=r+i),window[n]&&window[n].initialized)window[n].process&&window[n].process();else if(!e.getElementById(s)){var a=e.createElement("script");a.async=1,a.id=s,a.src=i,d.parentNode.insertBefore(a,d)}}(document,0,"infogram-async","//e.infogram.com/js/dist/embed-loader-min.js");

Rep. Eric Swalwell (DCalif.) spent more on childcare than any other federal candidate during the 2022 election cycle, more than tripling his 2020 childcare expenses from $28,637 to $87,000. Lisa Tucker, a spokesperson for Swalwells campaign, chalked up the change to the birth of Swalwells third child, an increase in travel and less childcare help from family members.

The fact that we can now pay for childcare for him to go out and campaign on behalf of himself and other members definitely had a big impact, Tucker told OpenSecrets. His wife works full-time. She has a very full schedule as well, so it really freed him up to be able to do the work he needs to do on the campaign side.

More than $17,000 of Swalwells childcare payments were made after the 2022 election ended in November. Tucker said this was a result of post-election campaign events and retroactive payments made for earlier childcare.

Sixteen men and 12 women used congressional campaign funds for childcare, each spending an average of $...

March Madness 2023: Annual K Street College Classic bracket features biggest federal lobbying spenders in higher education Original Journalism from OpenSecrets News

The 2023 NCAA March Madness tournament officially tips off today, and OpenSecrets annual K Street College Classic bracket shows which schools would win each round based on their federal lobbying spending in 2022.

Federal lobbyists raked in a combined $12.6 million in 2022 from the 68 colleges and universities including those that played in the First Four round on Tuesday and Wednesday competing in this years NCAA mens college basketball tournament. Some of the top teams in this years tournament are also top seeds in OpenSecrets K Street College Classic bracket, although a few underdogs pulled off stunning upsets to make a run for the title.

The 2023 K Street College Classic champion is Texas A&M University, quashing the competition with the $940,000 it spent to lobby the federal government last year. This is almost a 30% increase from the schools 2021 spending, and its the most the institution has spent on lobbying since 2013 in raw numbers.

Texas A&M also boasted one of the biggest federal lobbying benches, working with 16 lobbyists last year. Nine of these were revolving door hires, meaning they held federal government positions in the past.
