Forever Chemicals is an unofficial name for per- and
polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) dubbed so for their resistance to
breaking down.
American chemical companies were aware of the health and
environmental risk of PFAS but intentionally failed to disclose
them, new research published in Annals of Global Health
journal has shown.
Scientists examined documents from the companies DuPont and 3M
and are sure that these corporations knew they were selling
poisonous or highly-toxic substances.
Forever Chemicals began in 1946, when DuPont introduced Teflon
nonstick cookware and promoted it as a revolution in cooking.
Teflon is one of th best-known Forever Chemicals used almost
everywhere along with other PFAS. These substances are widely used
in clothing, household goods and even packages of food products.
PFAS are extremely resistant to breaking down, and after five
decades of market expansion, it became obvious that they are slowly
killing people and environment.
However, the recent research has shown that chemical giants
falsely pretended they knew nothing. Just like tobacco companies
hid information about lung cancer, DuPont and 3M suppressed the
publication of data that cast Forever Chemicals as dangerous
substances, according to the research.
In 1961, corporate researchers discovered that Teflon leads to
an increase in the liver size of rats. In 1979, a company
discovered that dogs that ingested small doses of C8 another
Forever Chemical died in two days. Meanwhile, in 1980, companies
learned that 25% of pregnant women who worked in their labs with C8
gave birth to children with birth defects. Companies never warned
their female employees about the risks, nor made this information
public.
As one of the papers authors, Nadia Gaber, MD, PhD: Having
access to these documents allows us to see what the manufacturers
knew and when, but also how polluting industries keep critical
public health information private.
The authors dubbed their research The Devil They Knew, stressing the
fact that corporations deliberately misled consumers.
In the 2000s, the American environmental watchdog fined DuPont
$16.45 million the largest civil penalty in the ecology domain at
that time. However, this was nothing compared with the billions of
dollars in revenues the company received from selling Forever
Chemicals.
Allegedly, nearly every US citizen now has PFAS in their blood,

Death toll one of heaviest since pro-government forces
launched offensive against jihadists last August
Fifty-four Ugandan peacekeepers died when militants besieged
an African
Union base in Somalia last week, Ugandas president, Yoweri
Museveni, has said, in one of the worst recent attacks by
al-Shabaab jihadists in the war-torn country.
We discovered the lifeless bodies of 54 fallen soldiers,
including a commander, Museveni said in a Twitter post late on
Saturday.
The toll is one of the heaviest yet since pro-government forces
backed by the AU force known as ATMIS launched an offensive against
al-Shabaab last August. It was also a rare admission of a major
military death toll by African Union members.
Al-Shabaab, which has been waging a deadly insurgency against
Somalias fragile central government for more than a decade, claimed
responsibility for the attack on 26 May, saying it had overrun the
base and killed 137 soldiers.
Al-Shabaab is known to exaggerate claims of battlefield gains
for propaganda purposes, and the governments of nations
contributing troops to the AU force rarely confirm casualties.
The militants drove a car laden with explosives into the base in
Bulo Marer, 75 miles south-west of the capital, Mogadishu, leading
to a gunfight, local residents and a Somali military commander told
AFP.
Museveni had said last week that some of the soldiers there did
not perform as expected and panicked as they came under attack from
about 800 assailants. That forced a withdrawal to a base 6 miles
away, he said, deploring a missed opportunity to annihilate the
al-Qaida-linked insurgents.
The mistake was made by two commanders, Maj Oluka and Maj Obbo,
who ordered the soldiers to retreat, Museveni said on Saturday,
adding that they would face charges in a court martial.
However, he said: Our soldiers demonstrated remarkable
resilience and reorganised themselves, resulting in the recapture
of the base.
ATMIS has so far not disclosed how many people died, but said it
sent in helicopter gunships as reinforcement after the pre-dawn
raid.
The US also said it conducted an airstrike near the base a day
after it was attacked. US Africa Command said it destroyed weapons
and equipment unlawfully taken by al-Shabaab fighters, without
specifying when or where the weapons were stolen.

Studying
can be a costly endeavor. Aside from the party budget, there are
books and tuition fees to pay as well.
To reduce costs, some students choose to share books or buy
cheaper second-hand versions. Others go a step further and venture
onto the dark side, by downloading or even buying pirated
books.
These cost-saving tactics are nothing new. A few decades ago,
copying machines at universities were already duplicating
copyrighted works every day of the week. However, with digital
books becoming more common, copying has become a breeze. This is a
form of progress that publishers are not happy with.
Danish Deterrent?
Textbook piracy is happening around the globe. While enforcement
is relatively rare, in Denmark several students have been
convicted for selling pirated copies of textbooks. Publishers
hoped that these cases would act as a deterrent but there are no
signs that this is the case.
Danish anti-piracy group Rights Alliance recently published a
new study, conducted by Epinion, which polled the attitudes and
behaviors of students towards digital textbooks. In particular,
those that are obtained illegally.
There have been several of these surveys over the years, which
makes it possible to see how patterns change over time. In this
case, things arent trending in the right direction. Despite
lawsuits and public calls to avoid piracy, students continue to
obtain unlicensed books from various sources.
50% Obtain Textbook Illegally
Of all the students that used digital textbooks (84%), half
admit to having used at least some pirated copies. This number has
been relatively stable since 2020 and doesnt seem to be impacted by
recent prosecutions and fines handed out by the courts.
This relatively high percentage doesnt mean that students are
oblivious to the law; 70% admit to knowing that piracy is
illegal.
How many books are obtained illegally can differ quite a bit.
For some, its just a book or two, but one in four of the pirating
students acquire more than half of all textbooks through unofficial
sources. And 7% of these students obtain between 91% and 100% of
their books illegally.
Jail Threat Doesnt Scare Students
Rights Alliance stresses that educational institutions have a
role to play. They should put more effort into educating students
on the subject, an issue thats often overlooked.
There is a concrete need for educational institutions to be
sharper i...

We all love PCB artwork, but those who create it work under the
restriction of having a limited color palette to work with. If its
not some combination of board, plating, solder mask, and silk
screen, then it cant easily be rendered on a conventional PCB.
Thats not the end of the story though, because its technically
possible to print onto a PCB and have it any color you like. Is it
difficult? Read [Spencer]s experience .
Dye-sublimation printing uses an ink that vaporizes at
atmospheric pressure without a liquid phase, so a solid ink is
heated and the vapor condenses back to solid on the surface to be
printed. Commercial dye-sub printers are expensive, but theres a
cheaper route in the form of an Epson printer that can be
converted. This in turn prints onto a transfer paper, from which
the ink is applied to the PCB in a T-shirt printing press.
[Spencer] took the advice of creating boards with all-white
silkscreen applied, and has come up with a good process for
creating the colored boards. There is still an issue with
discoloration from extra heat during soldering, so he advises
in the instru...

Video Experts leading NASA's study on unidentified anomalous
phenomena what we now call UFOs have studied 800 unclassified
events recorded over 27 years, and found that only two to five
percent of cases are truly unexplainable.
The
panel, formed last year, is made up of
16 people ranging from scientists and biz execs to federal
employees and a former astronaut. They've been studying reports of
UFO sightings over the past seven months.
In the panel's first public hearing, held on Wednesday,
David Spergel, a retired astrophysics professor of Princeton
University, called for the need to collect better data to study and
understand UAP.
"Right now there's a very limited number of high quality
observations and data curation of UAP," he said in his opening
remarks.
[...] NASA
defines UAP as "observations of events in the sky that cannot
be identified as aircraft or known natural phenomena from a
scientific perspective." Although people, generally speaking, look
at weird stuff in the sky and wonder, however briefly, if it's
evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence, the US government is
more interested in whether these sightings are of foreign hardware
that poses a threat to national security.
[...] "The defense and intelligence agency data on UAP are often
classified primarily because of how the data is collected," he
said, "not because what's in the data. The camera on an F-35 took a
picture of a bird: it's classified. Spy satellite takes an image of
a balloon, as we've had in the news some balloons recently, that's
classified, and that's because of a desire to not reveal our
technical capabilities to other nations."

I would love to be on the cutting edge of medical science, to be
able to bridge the gap of humans and technology, says Adam
Woodworth, a 40-year-old security manager for a museum in
Indianapolis who suffers from short-term memory loss due to a
military injury. He is swayed by the notion one Musk promotes
heavily that Neuralinks device may be used to treat Alzheimers
disease and brain disorders like his. I understand there are risks,
but someone has to be willing to step up and take that risk, he
says. I am willing to be one of those people if Elon and the
Neuralink team will be willing to allow me to participate.
Also not sure if it will be possible right off the bat,
Woodworth adds, but I am also a Tesla owner, and it would be pretty
rad if I could communicate with my car using just my mind.
Dear god. It will not help with short term memory loss. It will
not treat Alzheimers. I imagine this is, at best, a Phase 0 trial
theyll plug the widget into this guys head, and if his brain doesnt
bleed out and he doesnt have seizures, theyll chalk it up as a
great success. Thats it.
If Musk is telling volunteers that theyll treat Alzheimers and
memory loss, thats fraud, plain and simple. Medical fraud.
Hes making false promises he cant keep, that will trick people into
getting invasive brain surgery.
Of course hes lying at a phenomenal rate. Hes Elon Musk.
Yet Musk, who has poured at least $100 million of his own money
into the venture, makes far broader and fantastic claims about the
capabilities of his companys implant. Apart from declaring that it
will enable someone with paralysis to use a smartphone with their
mind faster than someone using their thumbs, and paraplegics to
walk again, hes speculated it could eventually treat blindness,
schizophrenia, depression, autism, obesity, and insomnia, and one
day meld human consciousness with AI. This is in addition, of
course, to creating a direct channel between minds and machines,
not to mention the global internet. Oh, and did we mention that
Neuralink could, according to Musk, allow for telepathic
communication? (Neither Musk nor Neuralink responded to a request
for comment as to whether these claims were somewhat
hyperbolic.)

Last night, a bat got into my office and was flying
around in circles. It got tired eventually and landed, very
conveniently, in a wastebasket. I put a piece of paper over it and
carried it outside. Fly free, little bat!
Then we discovered this morning that it was still in the
wastebasket. We dumped it out on the porch but otherwise left it
alone we put a box over it, very loosely, with plenty of gaps for
escape, and left it a little bit of water, but otherwise, its on
its own.
All we got for our care was some weird little clicky growls.
We might have a bat problem. They nest above our garage, and
their exit is right above our mailbox, which Ive noticed is getting
covered with a lot of bat poop. Im not complaining Ive always
wanted to live in a house full of bats and spiders.
Presentation by Dr Edward Horgan, peace activist with Irish
Peace and Neutrality Alliance, World BEYOND War, and Veterans For
Peace.
In January 2021 a group of veterans from several countries
including Colombia were involved in developing a project called the
International Neutrality Project. We were concerned that the
conflict in eastern Ukraine could deteriorate into a major war. We
believed that Ukrainian neutrality was essential towards avoiding
such a war and that there was an urgent need to promote the concept
of neutrality internationally as an alternative to the wars of
aggression and resource wars, that were being perpetrated on the
peoples of the Middle East and elsewhere. Unfortunately, Ukraine
did abandon its neutrality and the conflict in Ukraine did develop
into a major war in February 2022, and two European neutral states,
Sweden and Finland also were persuaded to abandon their
neutrality.
Since the end of the Cold War, wars of aggression for the
purpose of grabbing valuable resources have been waged by the US
and its NATO and other allies in violation of international laws
and the UN Charter, using the War Against Terror as the excuse. All
wars of aggression have been illegal under international laws
including the Kellogg-Briand-Pact and the Nuremberg Principles
which outlawed wars of aggression.
The UN Charter opted for a more pragmatic system of collective
security, a bit like the Three Musketeers one for all and all for
one. The three musketeers became the five permanent members of the
UN Security Council, sometimes known as the five policemen, who
were tasked with maintaining or enforcing international peace. The
US was the most powerful country in the world at the end of WW 2.
It had used atomic weapons unnecessarily against Japan to
demonstrate its power to the rest of the world. By any standards
this was a serious war crime. The USSR detonated its first atomic
bomb in 1949 demonstrating the reality of a bipolar international
power system. In this 21st Century the use, or even possession of
nuclear weapons should be considered a form of global
terrorism.
This situation could and should have been resolved peacefully
after the end of the Cold War, but...

A secretive government unit worked with social media companies
in an attempt to curtail discussion of controversial lockdown
policies during the pandemic, The Telegraph can reveal. The
Counter-Disinformation Unit (CDU) was set up by ministers to tackle
supposed domestic "threats", and was used to target those critical
of lockdown and questioning the mass vaccination of children.
Critics of lockdown had posts removed from social media. There is
growing suspicion that social media firms used technology to stop
the posts being promoted, circulated or widely shared after being
flagged by the CDU or its counterpart in the Cabinet Office.
Documents revealed under Freedom of Information (FoI) and data
protection requests showed that the activities of prominent critics
of the Government's Covid policies were secretly monitored.
Early tests indicate that the recent mass death of thousands of
seabirds along Chile's northern coast were not caused by avian flu,
authorities said Friday. Some 3,500 Guanay cormorants -- once known
as the "billion dollar bird" for their connection to the European
fertilizer industry -- have been found dead since May 26 near the
coastal port of Coquimbo, according to Chile's Agricultural and
Livestock Service (SAG). Workers in biohazard suits collected
hundreds of the dead cormorants, with their distinctive
black-and-white coloration, along beaches in sight of restaurants
and hotels. Initial tests on the dead birds did not reveal presence
of avian flu, which has wracked other parts of Chile, Jorge Mautz,
regional director of the service, told AFP.
One week has passed since the G7 Hiroshima Summit ended. On
Sunday, May 20, I, as a mother and citizen of the democratic nation
of Japan, expressed my message of nuclear abolition in a bicycle
caravan protest in Hiroshima along with other members of the WBW Japan Chapter.
We had many online discussions in advance to become acquainted
with each other and planned for the event. None of us were entirely
sure how the caravan would turn out as we kept hearing in the news
that local restrictions were getting tighter and tighter as the day
neared.
May 19th, the day before the caravan, I definitely got a taste
of the traffic restrictions as I was suddenly stranded for over an
hour without warning in Hiroshima City. I saw in front of me
several police cars and motorcycles passing by slowly and behind
them were black cars with some important people on board. We had no
choice but to endure the sudden restrictions. The following day, as
we rode bicycles through the city, it felt like a ghost town with
very few people despite the weekend. The citizens of Hiroshima had
been advised repeatedly prior to the weekend to refrain from
unnecessary outings due to the traffic restrictions.
In this report, I, as a citizen of Japan, would like to share
with the readers what I felt and thought about the G7 Hiroshima
Summit based on some media coverage and articles I came across. For
a full and comprehensive report on the caravan action, please read
the article written by Joseph Essertier, the Coordinator of the
WBW Japan Chapter.
After the caravan action, and 24 hours of reflection on the
event, members of the WBW Japan Chapter exchanged thoughts and we
all agreed that engaging in a direct action had been positive and
meaningful. I participated with my whole family, and I believe that

In a landmark decision, a federal judge this week denied a
court-appointed child advocate's motion to dismiss a wrongful death
lawsuit against her. The lawsuit asks the court to hold her
accountable for the suicide of 14-year-old Mikaela Haynes. Family

instead put them in danger," Evita Tolu, the attorney who won the
unprecedented ruling, told The Epoch Times.
A man who was a close associate of the ultra-nationalist

has been found dead by police. Comment: For the legacy media
'ultra-nationalist' and 'far-right' are mostly used to smear
people, rather than to be used as accurate descriptions, and
they're particularly used against people with regards to issues
like Russia's special operation in Ukraine, or vaccine mandates and

Did you know that today is not only National
Cheese Day but also International Corgi Day? If you prefer another
furry friend, then youll be delighted to hear that June 4 also
happens to be Hug Your Cat Day. And, perhaps because the person who
puts together the calendar of these special events has a sense of
humor, it is also National Old Maids Day. Cats and spinsters
unite!
Chances are that you were not aware of any of
this, and who could blame you? These special days, weeks, and
months are mostly useless, are pretty silly, and most of them go
unnoticed.
But not this Pride Month.
Meant to be a joyous time that celebrates the
fabulousness of Americans of all sexual orientations, there is a
good chance that it will devolve into something much darker than
the colors of the rainbow flags you will undoubtedly see throughout
June.
That has different reasons. First and
foremost, on the annual calendar of special occasions, Pride Month
has become the most political event. That top spot used to be held
by Black History Month because of all the idiots who would complain
every February that there isnt also a white history
month.
To varying degrees, both sides are to blame
for this.
Above all, when conservatives look at that
rainbow flag, they only seem to see red.
In a world that has become too tolerant for
their liking, there just arent a lot of groups they can be openly
hostile toward. So, when it comes to being bigoted, LGBTQ
Americans, and especially those who are trans, are the only game
left in town.
This hostility manifests itself in different
ways.
Although the world of embedded software development languages

critter comforts to C++90 and the more recent C++11 C++14
standards.
First stepping back a generation (technically two, with C++20
also being a thing already), the addition of binary literals (e.g.
0b1010'1100) in C++14 and the expanded use of
constexpr is addressed, with the latter foreshadowing
C++17s increased focus on compile time optimizations. A new
attribute in C++17 that is part of this is
[[nodiscard]], which when added before to the return
type of a function or method requires the return value to be used
in some manner, much like with functions in Ada (contrasted with
procedures).
As [alayan] notes, the biggest strength of compile-time checks
is that it can save a lot of deploy-test-fix round-trips, with the
total number of issues caught after deployment that could have been
caught during compilat...
Several Swiss cantonal police, the

impacted by the attack against IT firm Xplain.
Swiss police launched an investigation into the cyber attack

the army, customs, and the Federal Office of Police (Fedpol).
The news of the attack was first reported on Saturday by the
Swiss newspaper Le Temps.

reads Le Temps. These major players in security have one
thing in common: they have the same IT service provider, the
Bernese company Xplain, which has just been hacked.
Threat actors have already published alleged stolen data from
the Federal Office of Police (Fedpol) and the Federal Office for
Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) on a Darknet forum.
Local media reported that attackers have exploited a
vulnerability on the servers of the company.
Both Fedpol and the federal customs office confirmed the attack
but attempted to downplay the incident. According to Fedpol, threat
actors only had access to simulated, anonymous data for test
purposes.
Xplain notified Fedpol about the attack a few days ago, revealed
a Fedpol spokesman who added that the projects of the agency were
not exposed.
The Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (FOCBS) said
data from the FOCBS that were exposed are from correspondence with
its clients.

I was out weeding just after 8 this morning. Already in the mid

Several more hours of running around, and then the rest of the

On Saturday I went up to my parents for a family get together
with my dads sister, my moms sister, and my moms aunt. I dont much
care for my moms side of the family and while I tried coming at
them with an open mind and heart, it being a number of years since
Id last seen them, they proved to repeat the same negative traits
that has pushed me away from them. My dad and his sister agreed so
we ended up spending a lot of time together, hiding from my moms
half. One of the things I did to stay busy away from the family was
prepping an old metal horse trough to be turned into a raised
planter box. I had to drill a few holes in the bottom for drainage
and load it, as well as a bucket of composted horse manure, into
the back of my car. I unloaded it all as soon as I got home that
night.

In recent years, electronics engineers have been trying to
develop new brain-inspired hardware that can run artificial
intelligence (AI) models more efficiently. While most existing
hardware is specialized in either sensing, processing or storing
data, some teams have been exploring the possibility of combining
these three functionalities in a single device.
Researchers at Xian Jiaotong University, the University of Hong
Kong and Xian University of Science and Technology introduced a new
organic transistor that can act as a sensor and processor. This
transistor, introduced in a paper published in Nature
Electronics, is based on a vertical traverse architecture and a
crystalline-amorphous channel that can be selectively doped by
ions, allowing it to switch between two reconfigurable modes.
Conventional artificial intelligence (AI) hardware uses separate
systems for data sensing, processing, and memory
storage, Prof. Wei Ma and Prof. Zhongrui Wang, two of the
researchers who carried out the study, told Tech Xplore.
When youre putting together a computer workstation, what would
you say is the cleanest setup? Wireless mouse and
keyboard? Super-discrete cable management? How about no visible
keeb, no visible mouse, and no obvious display?
Thats what [Basically Homeless] was going for. Utilizing a
Flexispot E7 electronically raisable standing desk, an ASUS laptop,
and some other off-the-shelf parts, this project is taking the idea
of decluttering to the extreme, with no visible peripherals and no
visible wires.
There was clearly a lot of learning and much painful
experimentation involved, and the guy kind of glazed over how a
keyboard was embedded in the desk surface. By forming a thin layer
of resin in-plane with the desk surface, and mounting the keyboard
just below, followed by lots of careful fettling of the openings
meant the keys could be depressed. By not standing proud of the
surface, the keys were practically invisible when painted. After
all, you need that tactile feedback, and a projection keeb just
isnt right.
The mammalian retina is a complex system consisting out of cones
(for color) and rods (for peripheral monochrome) that provide the
raw image data which is then processed into successive layers of
neurons before this preprocessed data is sent via the optical nerve
to the brains visual cortex. In order to emulate this system as
closely as possible, researchers at Penn State University have created a system that uses perovskite
(methylammonium lead bromide, MAPbX3) RGB photodetectors
and a neuromorphic processing algorithm that performs similar
processing as the biological retina.
Panchromatic imaging is defined as being sensitive to light of all colors in
the visible spectrum, which in imaging means enhancing the monochromatic (e.g. RGB)
channels using panchromatic (intensity, not frequency) data. For
the retina this means that the incoming light is not merely used to
determine the separate colors, but also the intensity, which is
what underlies the wide dynamic range of the Mark I eyeball. In
this experiment, layers of these MAPbX3 (X being Cl, Br,
I or combination thereof) perovskites formed stacked RGB sensors.
The output of these sensor layers was then processed in a
pretrained convolutional neural network, to generate the final,
panchromatic image which could then be used for a wide range of
purposes. Some applications noted by the researchers include new
types of digital cameras, as well as artificial retinas, limited
mostly by how well the perovskite layers scale in resolution, and
their longevity, which is a long-standing issue with perovskites.
Another possibility raised is that of powering at least part of the
system using the energy collected by the perovskite layers, akin to
proposed perovskite-based solar panels.
Do intelligent people think faster? Researchers at the BIH and
CharitUniversittsmedizin Berlin, together with a colleague from
Barcelona, made the surprising finding that participants with
higher intelligence scores were only quicker when tackling simple
tasks, while they took longer to solve difficult problems than
subjects with lower IQ scores.
In personalized brain simulations of the 650 participants, the
researchers could determine that brains with reduced synchrony
between brain
areas literally jump to conclusions when making decisions,
rather than waiting until upstream brain regions could complete the
processing steps needed to solve the problem.
In fact, the brain models for higher score participants also
needed more time to solve challenging tasks but made fewer errors.
The scientists have now published their findings in the journal
Nature Communications.

The other day, I counted 20 copies of a book called
Forbidden City (1990) in a library. I picked it up and
looked at the cover, and I realized it was about the so-called
Tiananmen Square massacre. It was written as an on-the-spot account
by a CBC news team during that time. By reading the minutiae, it is
revealed to be a fictionalized account, as almost all western
monopoly media reports of a Tiananmen Square massacre are
fiction.
As I write this, June 4 is nigh upon us, and that means it is
time for the western-aligned media to crank out their discredited
myth of a massacre having taken place in Tiananmen Square in 1989.
The photos of the Tank Man allegedly blocking tanks from entering
Tiananmen Square will form a major part of the disinformation. The
fact is that the tanks were leaving the city, and it was the day
after the mythologized massacre. The tanks did all they could to
avoid colliding with the citizen who placed himself in front of the
tanks. (Read Jeff Browns setting the record straight
regarding the western monopoly media account of the Tank Man.)
Alas, the monopoly media disinformation storm is already upon
us.

Above Russian, Chinese and Iranian naval vessels

Press TV June 3, 2023
Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani says
the country will form new regional and extra-regional alliances to
enhance security.
A joint alliance with naval forces of Iran and regional
countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar,
Bahrain and Iraq, will be set up soon, Irani said in a televised
interview on Saturday.
Today, regional countries have realized that the establishment
of security in the region requires synergy and cooperation.
The commander said Iran and Oman have held several joint naval
drills in the past but other countries are now eager for collective
naval cooperation, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab
Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq, Pakistan and India.
He said Iran, Russia and China are expanding a previously formed
naval coalition.
Irani said virtually all the countries located in the northern
areas of the Indian Ocean have come to the conclusion that they
should stand by Iran and jointly establish security through
enhanced synergy.
The contours of the regional alliance is coming into shape a
year after the Israeli regime announced that it, together with the
United States and their regional Arab allies, would establish what
they called a Middle East NATO to counter the influence of Iran in
the region.
The concept was hyped by American and Israeli military officials
ahead of President Joe Bidens visit to the Middle East last July.
The aim was to forge better coordination between the allies to
defend each other against perceived Iranian threats.
The Israeli dream of an anti-Iran alliance, however, has
been shattered as a number of Persian Gulf Arab countries, led by
Saudi Arabia, have since begun shifting their alliances and
restoring their relations with Iran.
Erik Kramer and Paul Schneider are two former U.S. special
operations soldiers who have been in Ukraine since 2022 to train
Ukrainian troops.
At War on the Rocks they
paint a dark picture of the state of the Ukrainian military.
Their intent is to get money for more training, thus the real
picture may be less dark than they describe. But even if one takes
that into account it is still a sad state for an army that has been
at war for more than a year. Some excerpts:
Based on our nine months of training with all
services of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, to include the Ground
Forces (Army), Border Guard Service, National Guard, Naval Infantry
(Marines), Special Operations Forces, and Territorial Defense
Forces, we have observed a series of common trends: lack of mission
command, effective training, and combined arms operations; ad hoc
logistics and maintenance; and improper use of special operations
forces. These trends have undermined Ukraines resistance and could
hinder the success of the ongoing offensive.
What ongoing offensive?
Under mission command, the German Auftragstaktik, the leader
disseminates his intent (to attack through the northern woods to
take town x) and authority to subunits that is passed down with the
mission to empower subordinates at all levels. Each subunits can
make its plans to coordinate and execute the mission as best as
possible. The contrast is an order command where every detail of
execution is ordered from the top down. Both have advantages but to
have a mixed system, as Ukraine currently has, is the worst of all
places.

The globalist movement is targeting food production in the West.
And, of course, the crooked officials are glad to assist.

producer,
shut down 3,000 productive farms to comply with global warming
goals in November.
In December Germany order farmers to slash fertilizer after the
Dutch farms were shut down to comply with global warming

And this week Irish lawmakers are pushing a plan to kill off
200,000 cows to reach their global warming goals.
The Irish government is considering an initiative to
significantly reduce the number of dairy cows in order to reach its
climate change targets.
A target of reducing emissions from farming in
Ireland by a quarter by 2030 has been set by government.
One proposal to achieve this is by reducing the
national dairy herd by 10%, the equivalent of removing 65,000 cows
a year for three years, according to the Irish Independent.
Minister for agriculture Charlie McConalogue told
Irish radio station RTE Morning Ireland that a dairy vision group
with farmer representatives has been looking into a range of
options to reduce emissions on farm.
The Irish Department of Agriculture responded to the
reports.
Via
The Irish Mirror:
The Department for Agriculture has said a report outlining a
200,000 reduction in dairy cows was a modelling document.
It was reported yesterday the cows would have to be culled at a
cost of 600,000 to taxpayers over the next three years to meet
climate emissions targets.
The Farming Independent said it got the figures in its report
from an internal document through a freedom of information
request.
Anheuser-Busch, the parent company of Bud Light, is taking a
huge financial hit in the wake of its troubling advertising
campaign featuring a transgender influencer. While some observers
initially believed the move only had the potential to alienate more
conservative beer drinkers, it has actually driven away a far
broader base of consumers, and the effects are still being felt
three months later.
The beer company has lost a remarkable
$15.7 billion from its
market value after teaming up with Dylan Mulvaney, a
transgender activist. The partnership was launched during the NCAA
basketball championships, when the activist shared a sponsored post
on their Instagram account promoting March Madness. The video
showed Mulvaney dressed like Audrey Hepburn in the film
Breakfast at Tiffanys while drinking cans of Bud Light
featuring her face on them.
Much of the woke crowd is whining that the people who are
boycotting Bud Light are simply bigots who are intolerant of
transgenderism, but Beer Business Daily editor Harry
Schuhmacher believes its more about people wanting to avoid debates
at a time when political division is already extremely high in the
U.S.
Most people dont care about this issue and dont want to get
roped into a conversation, he said. Therefore, theyre not going to
buy the beer.
Switching brands is very easy given the broad range of
alternative beers, and some people may simply be looking to avoid
bringing political discussions into their leisure time. In a big
hit for Anheuser-Busch, their competitors have added an incredible
$3.2 billion in market value to their own brands while Bud Light
keeps dropping.
The owner of Coors Lite, Molson Coors, has seen its market value
rise by 20 percent to $2.2 billion, while Heineken is enjoying a $1
billion rise. Bud Light sales, meanwhile, were down by 23 percent
for the week ending on May 6.
Bud Light is offering free beer as it deals
with the backlash
The company has been scrambling to deal with the backlash. They
recently informed wholesalers that they will buy back any cases of
the beer that are not sold before they expire. They also launched a
promotion called the U.S Budweiser Family Memorial Day Rebate
online, which offers a rebate of up to $15 on a 15-pack of Bud
Light; some retailers set their prices for the packs at $15 so the
beer would be free for consumers once they obtain the rebate in
hopes of moving unwanted stock.
Meanwhile, the high demand for alternatives as summer approaches
could see...

OLIVER CROMWELL & THE BEHEADING OF
KING CHARLES I IN 1649 FINANCED BY THE JEWS
by Brother Nathaniel(Excerpt by henrymakow.com)
JEWISH BANKERS FROM AMSTERDAM led by the Jewish
financier and army contractor of Cromwells New Model Army,
Fernandez Carvajal and assisted by Portuguese Ambassador De Souza,
a Marano (secret Jew), saw an opportunity to exploit in the civil
unrest led by Oliver Cromwell in 1643.
A stable Christian society of ancient traditions binding the
Monarchy, Church, State, nobles and people into one solemn bond was
disrupted by Calvins Protestant uprising. The Jews of Amsterdam
exploited this civil unrest and made their move. They contacted
Oliver Cromwell in a series of letters:
Cromwell To Ebenezer Pratt of the Mulheim Synagogue in
Amsterdam,16th June 1647:
In return for financial support will advocate admission of Jews
to England: This however impossible while Charles living. Charles
cannot be executed without trial, adequate grounds for which do not
at present exist. Therefore advise that Charles be assassinated,
but will have nothing to do with arrangements for procuring an
assassin, though willing to help in his escape.
To Oliver Cromwell From Ebenezer Pratt, 12th July
1647:
Will grant financial aid as soon as Charles removed and Jews
admitted. Assassination too dangerous. Charles shall be given
opportunity to escape: His recapture will make trial and execution
possible. The support will be liberal, but useless to discuss terms
until trial commences.
Cromwell had carried out the orders of the Jewish financiers and
beheaded, (yes, Cromwell and his Jewish sponsors must face
Christ!), King Charles I on January 30 1649.
Beginning in 1655, Cromwell, through his alliance with the
Jewish bankers of Amsterdam and specifically with Manasseh Ben
Israel and his brother-in-law, David Abravanel Dormido, initiated
the resettlement of the Jews in England. (See Sources #2 Below

Science itself is unambiguous about the link:
vaccines cause autism. See this excellent article for the full story.
Executive summary
If vaccines arent triggering autism, then the number of times a
parent notices autistic behaviors BEFORE a wellness visit where a
vaccine is given should be comparable to the number of times AFTER
the visit.
I asked 642 parents who had previously reported having an
autistic child in previous surveys to fill out my survey. I
received 273 responses.
58 parents reported first seeing autistic behaviors within a
month AFTER a vaccine appointment.
0 parents reported first seeing autistic behaviors within a
month BEFORE a vaccine appointment.
This is stunning. It is highly unlikely youll
get a disparity like this if vaccines arent triggering autism. Its
about the same as the chance of throwing a fair coin 58 times and
getting all heads: 1 chance in 2.8e17 which is about as close to
impossible as you will ever find in nature.
But the more stunning thing is that no autism researcher in the
world has ever even thought to ask such a question. Ever.
In nearly 100 years, there are no papers in the scientific
literature that have ever looked at this. Zero. Zip. Nada.
If Im wrong, nearly every pediatrician in the world should have
roughly even stats for # cases within 1 month before a vaccine
appointment vs. 1 month after a vaccine appointment.
All you have to do is name one pediatrician who has more autism
reports from parents 1 month before the childs vaccination visit
vs. 1 month after the childs vaccination visit. Just one.
If vaccines dont cause autism, then half the pediatricians in
the world should have statistics that satisfy the challenge.

The New York Times has stirred online outrage by faulting
Disney's new live-action remake of 'The Little Mermaid', a
children's movie, for not including any "kink" in the storyline.
Times film critic Wesley Morris began his review by saying the
movie had "noble intentions," dutifully checking various diversity
boxes to gain approval. However, he added that Disney erred by
trying too hard to avoid offending audiences: "Joy, fun, mystery
risk, flavor, kink - they're missing." Controversy over the review
bubbled up earlier this week, when the newspaper posted a Twitter
message promoting the piece. It came amid a wave of conservative
boycotts against major corporations over alleged sexualization of
children and promotion of transgender ideology. US retailer Target,
for instance, has lost more than $13 billion in market value over
the past two weeks amid public pushback over a "Pride Month"
campaign that featured merchandise for babies and other
children.
In the midst of the Ukrainian conflict, the Russian Federation
has decided to complete the reorganization of its armies. It's a
mammoth task that has been accomplished since the dissolution of
the Soviet Union and the complete anarchy that followed. However,
despite the very serious problems that arose last year, first with
the dispatch to the front of young men with no military training,
then with delays in the supply of certain units, a
professionalization of the system is already clearly visible. The
announced reform aims not only to homogenize the Armed Forces
upwards, but also to radically transform command methods.

NEVER its own country. It became a country and

to start the civil war against the Donbas. If you want this war to
continue, then grab a gun and go fight for this most corrupt head
of state probably in the entire world.
This is why the United States is dead. It can no longer stand
united and, like Ukraine, we too will simply have to split. There
should be a property swap where Democrats leave the Red States and
go to the Blue States and vice versa. This is how empires always

the Hollywood writers strikeand what happens if directors and
actors join the picket lines.
When comedian and writer Adam Conover started staffing up his
2022 Netflix comedy-documentary series The G Word, which explores
the U.S. government, the precarity of Hollywood writers was hard to
ignore. Conover recalls a meeting with the shows producers: One of
them noted that, because the show was streaming, they werent bound
by the same pay minimums and contract length requirements for
writers as a network show. If the producers wanted, they even could
pay writers Californias minimum wage.
Nursing home workers in the Great North won the right to bargain
with their employers and the state via a standards board, and its a
major win for American workers.
Nursing home workers in Minnesota have been fighting for better
pay since 2015. Thats when the state government started funding
their employers based on average costs without dictating how much
workers themselves should get. Its impossible to be a good
employer, notes Jamie Gulley, president of SEIU Healthcare
Minnesota & Iowa. Any company that pays above the average loses
money; the ones who make the most profit are those who short
workers the most. The incentives, he adds, are all wrong.

Military equipment and small arms provided by several NATO
nations, including the US, ended up in the hands of militants who
launched a cross-border raid into Russias Belgorod region in May,
the Washington Post reported on Saturday, citing sources
linked to US intelligence.
At least four tactical vehicles initially supplied to the
Ukrainian military by the US and Poland were employed in the May
raid, raising concerns about Kievs commitment to fulfilling the
demands of its Western supporters, the sources told
WaPo.
The US and its Western allies have consistently expressed
opposition to the use of Western arms by Ukraine in attacks on
Russian territory. They also urged Kiev to carefully track the
billions of dollars worth of weapons that have flowed into the
country, WaPo reported.
The attack in question occurred in late May, and in response,
the Russian Defense Ministry announced that over 70 Ukrainian
terrorists, four armored combat vehicles, and five pickup trucks
had been destroyed in the clash in Belgorod. The remaining
militants were subsequently forced back into Ukraine and targeted
by Russian artillery. The incursion resulted in one civilian death
and 12 injuries, according to Russian authorities.

While I travel and work on a longer piece, I thought you might
enjoy some outtakes from this recent article
in Welt, about the complete lack of self-reflection
exhibited by German pandemic Science-Followers even after the
failure of their policies:
Helge Braun the former head of Angela Merkels Chancellery, was
invited to Berlins Futurium to discuss science and politics. Behind
the scenes, Braun was a key figure in the German Corona response.
Time for a few awkward questions? The CDU politician need not fear
them despite his vehement advocacy of school closures and
lockdowns
He was joined by three members of the Leopoldina [that is, the
German National Academy of Sciences] climate researcher Gerald
Haug, its president; paediatrician and adolescent physician Jutta
Grtner and sociologist Armin Nassehi. The Academy became known
during the pandemic not for its balanced scientific advice, but
primarily for its politicised demands for tougher measures. And as
often as its members emphasised institutional independence from the
government that evening, you could tell their intellectual
independence was notably lacking.
Team Caution, as members of the Leopoldina members still like to
call themselves, was full of praise for their own work The pandemic
was a good example of science-based policy advice, Haug explains
and by good he really does mean that the Academy advised well Team
Caution always did everything right The sensible majority followed
the recommendations of the government, the Leopoldina and the RKI.
Everything else is nasty fake news from the internet.
Yet Haug himself is a good example of the Leopoldinas convoluted
self-perception. On the one hand, he insisted repeatedly that
science only represents the facts; that is, he claims objectivity
for his profession. On the other hand, Haug freely admits that the
Leopoldina aimed to really hit it out of the park and make a splash
with their recommendations. Were often too soft
A real problem with the technocrats, is that they only have
relevance in one direction. As soon as the National Academy of
Sciences issues an opinion that the virus isnt much to worry about
and people should continue to live their lives as before, their
political relevance is finished. For this reason alone,
technocratic systems will be biased towards intervention, even in
harmless situations, and nothing they tell you to do can ever be
trusted.

Citizen activism to bring about changes in how brutal wars are
conducted is extremely difficult, but not impossible.
Citizens have successfully pushed through the United Nations
General Assembly treaties to abolish nuclear weapons and to ban the
use of landmines and cluster munitions.
Of course, countries that want to continue to use these weapons
will not follow the lead of the vast majority of countries in the
world and sign those treaties. The United States and the
other eight nuclear armed countries have refused to sign the treaty
to abolish nuclear weapons. Likewise, the United States and 15 other
countries, including Russia and China, have refused to sign the
ban on the use cluster bombs. The United States and 31 other
countries, including Russia and China, have refused to
sign the treaty on the ban on land mines.
However, the fact that rogue, war mongering countries, such as
the United States, refuse to sign treaties that the majority of the
countries of the world want, does not deter people of conscience
and social responsibility from trying to bring these countries to
their senses for the sake of the survival of the human species.
We know that we are up against rich weapons manufacturers that
buy the favor of politicians in these war nations through their
political campaign donations and other largesse.
Up against these odds, the latest citizen initiative for banning
a specific weapon of war will be launched on June 10, 2023 in
Vienna, Austria at the International Summit for Peace in Ukraine.
One of the favorite weapons of war of the 21st century has
turned out to be weaponized unmanned aerial vehicles. With
these automated aircraft, human operators can be tens of thousands

During the last six months I have read numerous articles aimed
at convincing people to engage with the problems of pollution,
climate change, ecological loss and poverty and most of them have
suggested implementing certain reforms of the existing capitalist
mode of production. Only a few articles have suggested that these
negative symptoms originate from the mode of production itself.
Even among those who have accepted that Karl Marx had usefully
contributed to understanding the problems facing humanity,
most have failed to fully understand the revolutionary-humanist
perspective Marx did so much to promote.
Some have noticed that in many of his writings, Marx mentions
the absolute dependence of humanity upon nature, (ie. life on earth
in general) as, of course, it is the multifarious inorganic
materials and millions of species of life on earth, which supply
the material conditions for all forms of organic existence. Every
organic life form, large or small, is nourished by absorbing some
inorganic material and some organic material obtained from another
life form. But he also drew attention to the social form of this
human dependence on nature and correctly concluded that at any
stage of human social development considered, there is a material
result which includes;
.a sum of productive forces, a historically created relation
to nature, and of individuals to one another, which is handed down
to each generation from its predecessor; (German Ideology . Section
7 Summary of the materialist conception of history.)
These two primary relationships, (to nature and each other) are
the fundamental basis of, and are the essence of the human species.
However, Marx noted that in hierarchical mass societies,
individuals were not only alienated from each other but also from
nature. He concluded that this was the result of a) the division of
labour (ibid section 4) and b) the division into classes. The
generation Marx belonged to had inherited from its predecessors a
hierarchical mass society based upon the domination by the owners
of capital, in the areas of commerce, industry, and finance. In
each of these domains of capital, its owners, related to nature and
people, as sources of raw materials to be exploited as efficiently
as possible.
The capitalist mode of production had also inherited from its
predecessors human relationships which were based upon three
classes of individuals. A ruling class of the most powerful and
wealthy individuals, who owned and controlled the main means of
production; a working class, that produced everything needed for
society in the form of food, water, clothing and housing; and a
middle class, that administered and managed the system of
governance along with the further cultural aspects of production
which had arisen upon this economic foundation. Yet in
focussing upon the most recent capitalist iteratio...
Rami Adwan, Lebanons ambassador to France, is currently being
investigated for rape & sexual assault following complaints by
two former embassy employees. One of the employees, named Ava,
claimed that she was raped in May 2020 in a private apartment
belonging to Ambassador Adwan and that she provided the police with
WhatsApp messages on that evening and the following day, explicitly
accusing him (Adwan) of rape, according to French investigative
website Mediapart.
French authorities have apparently requested lifting Adwans
diplomatic immunity but the Lebanese Foreign Ministry has denied receiving any official
French requests yet has confirmed that theyre treating the matter
seriously and will send a committee to investigate the matter
first.
Lebanons Minister of Foreign Affairs can lift Adwans immunity without referring to the
Cabinet, but the Ministry of Justice has to review the accusations
first. Needless to say, theyd probably repatriate the ambassador
and protect him rather than lift his immunity.
In the old Soviet Union, citizens were not required to be a
member of the Communist Party. But if you were not, you could never
expect to rise far professionally or socially. You would never be
the head of a department in university, a factory manager, much
less the General Secretary. They were always recruited out of the
party. Party membership was proof of loyalty. It was a
demonstration that you were willing to put loyalty over morality.
Rising high in the party also meant that others in the ruling class
likely had something on you. No one gained power without other
powerful people knowing of your grim deeds. That way there was
mutual trust, or, to put it another way, mutual blackmail. Honor
among thieves only holds true for those who are guilty of thievery.
The system was the same in Nazi Germany. You didn't have to join
the party but if you refused, you could not rise in academia,
military, or government. And everyone knew the rules. The party
controlled the state, and members...

Over 30 years ago, I was a book censor for a short time when I
worked for Hong Kong's justice minister. In the autumn of 1988,
Salman Rushdie's book, The Satanic Verses, was published. The book
was a publishing sensation for all the wrong reasons. It contained
chapters that fictionalised episodes in the prophet Mohammed's
life. There is no need to go into detail about the book's content
here. All that needs to be said is that it caused a outbreak of
fury in the Muslim world. Rioting in Pakistan and India over the
book killed people. There were lively protests in many other
countries. In February 1989, Ayatollah Khomeini, the Iranian
supreme leader, issued a fatwah, a religious decree, that
sanctioned the killing of Rushdie and his publishers for
blaspheming the prophet Mohammed. The author hid for years, but
that did not stop zealots from trying to kill him. The most recent
attempt on his life was in August 2022. The would-be assassin

US banks lost $472 billion in deposits in the first quarter,
according to a new quarterly report from the Federal Deposit
Insurance Corporation (FDIC) that offers a comprehensive look at
how the industry navigated its most challenging period since the
2008 financial crisis. The deposit decline was the largest since
the FDIC began collecting quarterly industry data in 1984 and
marked the fourth consecutive quarter of industry outflows. The
regulator tracks performance for 4,672 commercial banks and savings
institutions. The drop in deposits, which amounted to 2.5%, was
largely due to movement by uninsured depositors who were above the
$250,000-per-account level backstopped by the FDIC. They pulled
$663 billion, while insured deposits actually increased by $255
billion. The FDIC report covers a tumultuous period marked by an
aggressive rise in interest rates and the failures of three banks
in a matter of days, including Silicon Valley Bank and Signature
Bank on March 10 and March 12....

African Union Unveils Political Process to
Resolve Sudans Conflict
June 1, 2023 (ADDIS ABABA) The African Union Commission, led by
Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat, has revealed a comprehensive
roadmap for an inclusive political process aimed at resolving the
conflict in Sudan.
The roadmap was presented during the third meeting of the
Expanded Mechanism for the Resolution of the Conflict in Sudan,
which took place in Addis Ababa on Wednesday, May 31. Chaired by
Mohamed El-Hacen Lebatt, Spokesperson for the AU Process for Sudan,
the meeting discussed the details of the roadmap.
Mahamat told the meeting that the African Unions strategy to end
the conflict focuses on establishing an inclusive political process
that encourages dialogue among prominent military, civilian
political, and social actors in Sudan.
He added that this approach aims to engage stakeholders from all
segments of the national spectrum, including signatories of the
Juba Agreement, in finding a solution to the conflict.
This inclusive dialogue is vital for transitioning Sudan back to
civilian rule, rebuilding public services, addressing the urgent
needs of the population, and preparing the country for democratic,
free, and fair elections, said the chair of the AU Commission.
During a press conference following the meeting, Mohamed
El-Hacen Lebatt emphasized that the Sudanese should take ownership
of this process.
He stressed that it should be a collective effort without
ideological or other influences. At the same time, the
international community, including the African Union, United
Nations, and IGAD, should provide support without seeking to lead
the process.
Lebatt further stated that the political process should not only
focus on resolving the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army
and paramilitary forces but should also encompass constitutional
arrangements for the transitional period, the formation of a
civilian government, and programs to address the civilian
populations needs in terms of food a...

DAKAR - Tensions remained high in Senegal on Saturday after
fresh overnight clashes brought the death toll to 15 in the two
days since a court convicted opposition leader Ousmane Sonko.
Sonko's ongoing legal woes have prompted rare flare-ups of
violence in Senegal, typically a bastion of stability in West
Africa, and foreign allies have urged a return to calm.
Sonko, a 48-year-old former tax inspector, was initially charged
with rape but was convicted on a lesser charge of morally
"corrupting" a young woman and sentenced to two years in
prison.
He claims the charges against him were a bid by the government
to torpedo his political career ahead of the presidential election
next year.
His conviction may take him out of the running for the 2024
poll.
Clashes between Sonko's supporters and police broke out after
the ruling on Thursday, leaving nine people dead.
Shops and businesses were ransacked.
The army was deployed to the streets but fresh scuffles erupted
on Friday night in parts of the capital, Dakar, and in
Ziguinchor.
They left another six dead, government spokesman Maham Ka told
AFP.
Burned-out cars, tyres and debris-strewn streets bore testimony
to another night of violence.
The government has acknowledged that it has restricted access to
social networks such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter in order to
stop "the dissemination of hateful and subversive messages".
Government spokesman Abdou Karim Fofana said on Friday that the
violence was not fuelled by "political demands" but "acts of
vandalism and banditry".
"These are difficult times for the Senegal nation that we will
overcome," he tol...

CAPE TOWN - BRICS says its New Development Bank (NDB) has
recorded impressive progress.
Its grown its membership from five to eight members and a ninth
is set to join soon.
The BRICS meeting of foreign ministers in Cape Town has been
taking stock of the banks performance, led by former Brazilian
president, Dilma Rousseff.
International Relations Minister Naledi Pandor said that the
bank was playing a key role in advancing the developmental agenda
of developing nations.
She said that members were also pleased with its financial
rating.
"Its our intention, both as BRICS countries and NDB members,
that this bank must have regard to ensuring fairness in global
financial systems and practices, and that it should be focusing its
attention toward a world in which we reduce poverty and eradicate
it eventually, a world in which we promote equality, a world in
which we see greater development."
Pandor said that most of the loans secured through the BRICS
bank had been for infrastructure development.

Turkish President
Recep Tayyip Erdogan unveiled his new cabinet on Saturday,
and announced new finance, foreign and defence ministers, less
than a week after clinching victory in a hotly
contested runoff
election.
In a highly-anticipated appointment, Erdogan appointed the
internationally respected ex-banker Mehmet Simsek as treasury and
finance minister.
Simsek, an advocate of conventional economics,
is highly regarded by the financial markets after serving as
finance minister and deputy prime minister between 2009 and
2018.
His appointment is aimed at tackling Turkey's
cost-of-living crisis and could set the stage for interest
rate hikes in the coming months, which could mark a turn around
from Erdogan's longstanding policy of slashing
rates despite soaring inflation.
Speaking at his inauguration ceremony before the announcements,
Erdogan called on Turks to set aside their differences and focus on

CAPE TOWN - BRICS says its concerned about increasing terrorism
in Africa.
The foreign ministers of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South
Africa have on Friday been meeting with friends of BRICS countries
in Cape Town.
Hosting the gathering, International Relations Minister Naledi
Pandor said that a war in one part of the world could not be the
reason for wealthier nations not to meet their obligations to
poorer ones.
Rounding up two days of discussions, Pandor said that BRICS
members were committed to dialogue to resolve conflict.
She said that peace was necessary for development.
"We cannot allow a conflict in one part of the world to replace
the ambition of eradicating global poverty as the worlds greatest
global challenge."
As more African nations look to join the BRICS family, Pandor
said that civil war on the continent was a concern.
"The sway that these extremist groups are beginning to have in a
number of countries, particularly in the Sahel region, we said when
we talk about peace and security, we mustnt just talk about one
part of the world."
Pandor said that BRICS ministers had reaffirmed fostering
dialogue as a pathway to peace.

accuses the West of trying to divide the people of Russian, whose
'diversity is their strength.'" There it is. Put out on the

South Africa Power Cuts Suspended "Until
Further Notice"- Eskom
Eskom Power plant
Africa News
Power cuts, which have been almost a daily occurrence for months
in South Africa and can last up to almost twelve hours on some
days, have been suspended "until further notice", state-owned
utility Eskom announced on Saturday.
"Load shedding was suspended today at 11:40 am (09:40 GMT) and
until further notice, thanks to improved generation capacity and
lower demand," Eskom spokeswoman Daphne Mokwena told AFP.
The company did not specify how long these improvements will
allow some 60 million South Africans to live without power cuts,
saying on Twitter that "Eskom will immediately communicate any
significant changes".
"It is not possible to predict at this stage how long the
suspension will last. We encourage the public to monitor their
consumption, especially during peak hours," stressed Ms. Mokwena,
adding that load shedding could otherwise resume "at any time".
The continent's leading industrial power is in the grip of a
deep electricity crisis that has worsened since last year. Days
without power cuts are rare. Eskom, for example, exceptionally
suspended load shedding over the Christmas period.
The state-owned company, which supplies the vast majority of the
country's electricity, is weighed down by a fleet of dilapidated
and failing coal-fired power plants. Unable to produce enough
power, it imposes scheduled blackouts.
Eskom is also racked by debt after years of mismanagement and
corruption under President Jacob Zuma (2009-2018).
The load shedding costs the economy more than $50 million a day
in lost production, according to the government. South African
President Cyril Ramaphosa declared a state of disaster in February,
before lifting it two months later and appointing a Minister of
Electricity, in an attempt to get out of the crisis.
South Africa still draws 80% of its electricity from coal. A $98
billion investment plan was approved by rich countries last year at
COP27 as part of an agreement for a "just transition" to clean

There is an increasing focus in academic and policy circles on
research-policy partnerships. These partnerships are often achieved
through
co-creation, or the joint production of innovation between
combinations of industry, research, government and civil society.
Co-creation is central to innovation in the hard sciences and
technology, but its role in international relations scholarship and
aid policy remains underdeveloped.
As scholars of international aid practice, we believe that
co-creation can help us design and conduct more relevant, rigorous,
and impactful research. It is also a core mission of the
Research on International Policy Implementation
Lab (RIPIL), whose
co-creation process engages policymakers and practitioners in: 1)
the generation of important, policy-relevant research questions; 2)
research on these questions, through regular validation and
consultation; and 3) the development and dissemination of findings
and their policy implications, which often leads to the
identification of important new research questions and
opportunities.
In this piece, we focus on the first phase: the co-creation of
research questions. This is one of the trickiest phases of the
co-creation process because it requires researchers and
policymakers to find a common question and research design that
aligns with academics incentive to publish rigorous research and
policymakers incentive to feed evidence into the policy process.
Future blog posts will discuss how to implement co-created research
and disseminate co-created findings.
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we initiated a
collaboration intended to generate policy-relevant research
questions on the changing nature of international aid. Our aim was
to get a sense of whether the combined shocks of COVID-19, growing
calls to decolonize aid, and the rise of populism and popular
protest had changed the underlying power dynamics in aid.
Importantly, in this project, we did not just want to learn from
practitioners based in Western Europe or North America. We wanted
insights from key thinkers and actors from the context where aid
dependency has been most acute: the African continent. We wanted to
understand how these thought leaders viewed aid-related power
dynamics and how research could help answer their most puzzling
questions.
Between 2020 and 2022, we conducted one-on-one interviews,
organized virtual focus groups, and hosted a high-level roundtable
in Geneva with donor governments and international non-government
organizations (INGOs) on power in aid, all to better understand the
changing nature of aid and the research questions that matter to
policymakers, practitioners, and key African thinkers.

Nigeria: Main Labour Union to Go on Strike
Over Government Removal of Fuel Subsidy
Africa News
Nigerias main labour union, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has
said it plans to go on strike from Wednesday to protest against a
hike in fuel prices in what would be the first big test for the
west African nation's new President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after he
scrapped fuel subsidy.
"That the NNPC (Nigerian National Petroleum corporation, ed.), a
private limited liability company, that illegally announced the
price regime in the oil sector refuses to revert itself for
negotiations to continue. That the Nigeria labour congress and all
its affiliates will withdraw their services and commence protests
nationwide." Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour
Congress said Friday at an emergency meeting.
"That it is instructive that until the government is properly
constituted and the people who will negotiate with labour and such
people with mandate and capacity to commit the government of the
day, such negotiation may not be valued wherever." Ajaero
added.
Nigerians are struggling with the surging fuel prices after
newly elected President Bola Tinubu declared an end to popular
subsidies, a move analysts and experts said was long overdue.
On his first day in office, Tinubu kept to his campaign promise
and announced an end to the long-running arrangement, which has
given Nigerians access to cheap petrol.
The continent's biggest economy is oil-rich but has meagre
refining capacity. For years, it has swapped crude for gasoline
that it then subsidises for its domestic market, causing a huge
drain on revenue, foreign exchange and contributing to ballooning
debt.
None of Tinubu's predecessors had managed to scrap the hugely
popular system, which has been a burden on public coffers for
decades. Last year, the country spent more than 96 percent of its
revenue on servicing its debt.
After his inauguration on Monday, Tinubu announced the "fuel
subsidy is go...
A clandestine UK Government unit dubbed the Counter-Disinformation
Unit (CDU) has been implicated in a troubling endeavor to
curb and control online discussions about the controversial
Covid-19 lockdown policies. The covert operation allegedly involved
the collaboration of social media companies in a strategic bid to
quell supposed domestic threats.
According to revelations from Freedom of Information requests
and data protection requests from The
Telegraph, posts critical of Covid-19 restrictions,
including those questioning mass vaccination of children, were
systematically removed.
Social media companies are now under scrutiny following
allegations that their technologies were deployed to thwart the
wide circulation or promotion of posts tagged as potentially
problematic by the CDU or its Cabinet Office equivalent.
The files revealed the surreptitious monitoring of critics of
the Governments Covid plans. Artificial intelligence firms were
reportedly enlisted by the government to search social media
platforms, flagging any discussions opposing vaccine passports.
In a startling revelation, the BBC was implicated in clandestine
government policy discussions regarding this alleged
misinformation.
The CDU, hosted by the Department for Culture, Media, and Sport
(DCMS), operated a trusted flagger system with major social media
companies. This mechanism expedited requests for content removal.
The CDU, still operational, was formed in 2019, initially focusing
on the European elections, later shifting its attention to the
pandemic.
Critics, including MPs and freedom of speech campaigners, have
labeled the revelations as truly chilling and a strategy tantamount
to censoring British citizens a tactic likened to those of the
Chinese Communist Party.
Any attempt by governments to shut down legitimate debate is
hugely concerning, but to discover that DCMS actively sought to
censor the views of those who were speaking up for childrens
welfare is truly chilling, said Miriam Cates, a Conservative MP to
The Telegraph.
A government spokesman refuted the allegations, stating that the
unit was designed to track narratives and trends using publicly
available information to safeguard public health and national
security. The spokesman insisted that the unit never monitored
individuals and had a strict policy against referring journalists
and MPs...
Eswatini: Two Pro-democracy MPs Convicted of
"Terrorism"
Protesters take cover as they clash with eSwatini riot

ESWATINI
Two pro-democracy MPs in Africa's last absolute monarchy,
Eswatini, were found guilty on Thursday of terrorism and murder in
connection with the wave of anti-regime protests that rocked the
country in 2021.
The two men, Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube, were
tried by a court in the capital Mbabane almost two years after
their arrest in July 2021.
Charged with inciting demonstrations, they had pleaded not
guilty.
"I find the accused guilty of all the charges against them",
said Judge Mumcy Dlamini. They face up to 20 years in prison. Their
sentences will be handed down "at a date to be determined", the
judge continued.
Mr Mabuza and Mr Dube were arrested in the midst of a wave of
demonstrations calling for democratic reforms. These protests were
severely repressed by the regime's police and dozens of protesters
were killed.
The two MPs had in particular called for reform of the complex
system of elections in which political parties, although
theoretically authorised, are not allowed to participate.
Parliamentary elections are due to be held on 29 September in the
country formerly known as Swaziland.
However, these elections are unlikely to change the political
landscape in the southern African country of 1.2 million
inhabitants, ruled since 1986 by King Mswati III, who is criticised
for his extravagant lifestyle and regularly accused of rights
violations.
Elections in Eswatini are held in such a way that no one
seriously challenges the monarch's power.
The King appoints ministers, controls Parliament, the police and
the army. He also appoints judges.

UN to Deliver Draft Treaty to Combat Plastic
Pollution by November
Africa News
The world should see the first draft of a highly anticipated and
much needed international treaty to combat plastic pollution by the
end of November, 175 nations gathered in Paris decided Monday after
five days of grueling talks.
The assembly's negotiating committee called for the preparation
of the "zero-draft" of a "legally binding instrument" ahead of a
third round of talks in Nairobi, with the aim of finalising the
treaty in 2024.
The decision emerged from an eleventh-hour meeting led by France
and Brazil and was adopted by the full plenary at UNESCO's Paris
headquarters.
"Are there are no more interventions on this point?" asked
Peru's Gustavo Meza-Cuadra Velasquez, chair of the forum's
Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee.
"It is so decided," he continued, as he brought down the
gavel.
The breakthrough came after considerable "nit-picking" and
"delaying tactics" by some countries, said France's minister for
ecological transition, Christophe Bechu.
Frustrations bubbled up during the first two days of the talks,
which were devoted entirely to a debate over procedural rules, as
large plastics producer nations -- including fossil fuel supplier
Saudi Arabia, as well as China and India -- resisted the idea the
deal could be decided by a vote rather than by consensus.
On current trends, "by 2050 there will be more plastic waste
than fish in the oceans," Mexican negotiator Camila Zepeda told
AFP. "We can't get hung up on procedural rules."
Concern over the impact of plastics on the environment and human
wellbeing has surged in recent years along with a crescendo of
research documenting its omnipresence and persistence.
In nature, microplastics have been found in ice near the North
Pole and inside fish navigating the oceans' deepest, darkest
recesses.

Recently Ive been thinking about the old French
folktale, Bluebeard. For readers who are unfamiliar
with the story, Bluebeard is a nobleman who has been married six
previous times to young women who have all mysteriously vanished.
Wikipedia provides a succinct account of what happens when he
marries a seventh time.
[A neighbors youngest daughter who decides to marry him] goes to
live with him in his rich and luxurious palace in the countryside,
away from her family.
Bluebeard announces that he must leave for the country and gives
the palace keys to his wife. She is able to open any room with
them, each of which contain some of his riches, except for an
underground chamber that he strictly forbids her to enter lest she
suffer his wrath. He then goes away, leaves the palace, and the
keys in her hands. She invites her sister, Anne, and her friends
and cousins over for a party. However, she is eventually overcome
with the desire to see what the secret room holds, and she sneaks
away from the party and ventures into it.
She immediately discovers that the room is flooded with blood
and the murdered corpses of Bluebeards previous six wives hanging
on hooks from the walls. Horrified, she drops the key in the blood
and flees the room.
Ive long been intrigued by Bluebeard as an
archetypal expression of the horror we may experience when we
become curious to know what is going on behind the closed doors of
power. Bluebeard is a powerful nobleman who is apparently beyond
the law. His young bride is an ordinary girl who becomes implacably
curious to see all of the rooms of his castle, which seem to
symbolize the rooms of his soul.

International Politics. Source: WoodrowWilsonCenter. Date
Published: April 5, 2019. Description:
Decision-makers and scholars often assume that diplomatic
signals are received as they are intended. They have faith in both
their ability to convey their messages to others and to correctly
interpret others behavior. Robert Jervis research shows that this
is not true and that international politics often resembles the
famous Japanese movie Rashomon. Perceptions are strongly influenced
by peoples theories and expectations on the one hand and their
personal and political needs on the other. Both historical
scholarship and policy-making would be improved by an understanding
of how people perceive.

Statesmen Think, and his other books include Why Intelligence

Kenya: Virtual Reality Used to Teach Students
About Plastic Pollution
Africa
News
Taking a virtual trip from a Kenyan classroom. At this school in
the capital Nairobi, students are donning virtual reality (VR)
headsets and going on a school trip with a difference.
In the East African country, VR is being adopted in classrooms
to enhance traditional learning and teach children about social and
environmental issues.
Organisers say it's difficult for children to understand topics
like plastic pollution and climate change when just taught the
theory.
But with VR technology, students can see for themselves the
impacts on the environment.
Pupils at Mcedo Beijing School in Nairobi's Mathare
neighbourhood have been learning about the collection and
segregation of waste.
"Ukwenza VR has helped me and other students to take care of the
environment by separating plastics and organic waste," says student
Annette Jeptoo.
"Before, I would use plastic bottles and dispose of them by any
means, but now I am not buying soda or water using a plastic
bottle. I buy soda in a glass bottle," says Rooney Odhiambo,
another pupil.
Kenya-based Ukwenza VR mainly works with schools in low-income
areas, offering virtual field trips to students that would
otherwise be impossible due to financial constraints.
The social enterprise's focus is on issues such as plastic
pollution and climate change.
Students have learnt the dangers that plastic waste poses to the
environment and have been inspired to take measures to deal with
it.
"When you think about an issue as complex as plastic pollution,
or even climate change, the question is usually; how can we make
children care enough about the issue for them to act differently?
Which is very challenging," says Ukwenza VR co-founder and CEO
Njeri Ndonga.
"Virtual reality comes in helping them, one, conceptualise the
problem. It's one thing to say 'don't throw away waste,' but it is
another thing to understand that if I throw away a plas...
The sudden escalation of the situation in the Balkans in the
past few days has drawn great concern from the international
community. From May 26, when the Kosovo authorities forced the
inauguration of the Albanian mayor, triggering protests and
demonstrations from the Serbs, to May 29 when violent clashes broke
out between NATO peacekeeping troops and Serb protesters, which
injured dozens of people, and then to the commander of NATOs
peacekeeping troops in Kosovos latest warning that the situation
there is very dangerous and that any incident could lead to an
escalation of the situation, it makes people wonder whether
conflicts in Kosovo, known as the powder keg of the Balkans, will
resume. There are also concerns over a repeat of something similar
to the 1999 Kosovo War.
In 1999, NATO brazenly launched a 78-day bombing of Yugoslavia,
which not only resulted in a large number of casualties and
property losses, but also left behind a hidden danger in this land.
The bloody conflict this time is one of the consequences of this
bane. Under the manipulation of the US and NATO, it was arranged
for Kosovo, an autonomous province belonging to the former Yugoslav
Republic of Serbia, to be administered by the United Nations as a
transition. A few years later, Kosovo unilaterally declared
independence and was immediately recognized by some Western
countries. In other words, it was the US and NATO that forcibly
divided Serbia through bombing and despicable political tactics.
This is the root of that bane.
It should be said that the ins and outs of the escalation of
tensions this time are clear. Serbs in four Serb-inhabited cities
in northern Kosovo boycotted the local election in April because
the Kosovo authorities forced them to change their license plates
and refused to fulfill the requirements of the 2013 Brussels
Agreement to establish a Serb self-governing body. In response to
the election results, which had a turnout rate of less than 5
percent and only 1,500 voters, the Kosovo authorities insisted
executing the result and even used special police to escort the
elected candidates into the city hall, which triggered conflicts.
Tensions between the two parties reached a peak.
Due to complex historical issues, reality, and ethnic and
religious factors, the Albanians and Serbs in Kosovo have been in
constant conflict over the years. The reason why the conflict
between the two sides has reached the critical point of crisis
outbreak recently is related to the imbalance in the political and
security situation in Europe since the Ukraine crisis began. The
reason why Pristinas provisional self-governing institution took
another unilateral action this time is obviously to fish in
troubled waters and take advantage of the conflict between Russia
and Ukraine. Of course, the institution calculated wrongly and did
not realize that its actions caused tr...

Tunisia President Saied to Tax the Rich to
Avoid the IMF
Africa News with AFP
02/06 - 11:26
Tunisian President Kais Saied on Thursday proposed the
introduction of additional taxes targeting the wealthiest to enable
the state to do without a loan from the International Monetary Fund
(IMF), whose "diktats" he rejects.
Mr Saied explained on receiving the head of government Najla
Bouden that the system of subsidies for basic products currently in
place benefited all Tunisians, including the wealthiest, according
to a press release from the presidency.
Faced with this situation, he considered the idea of "taking the
surplus money from the rich and giving it to the poor" to be
relevant, quoting one of the first caliphs of Islam, Omar Ibn
Al-Khattab.
"Instead of lifting subsidies in the name of rationalisation, it
would be possible to introduce additional taxes for those who
benefit from them without needing them", he added, believing that
such a mechanism would enable the State not to submit to "foreign
diktats".
In April, Mr Saied had already rejected the "diktats" of the
IMF, which made the granting of a loan to Tunisia conditional on
economic reforms and the lifting of certain state subsidies.
In his statements on Thursday, he did not specify how any new
taxes might be introduced in a country where employee taxes are
deducted at source, but where a large proportion of Tunisians
working in the private sector do not declare their income to the
tax authorities.
Tunisia, which is indebted to the tune of around 80% of its GDP,
obtained an agreement in principle from the IMF in mid-October for
a new loan of almost 2 billion dollars to help it overcome the
serious financial crisis it is experiencing.
However, discussions have reached an impasse due to the lack of
a firm commitment from the country to implement a reform programme
to restructure Tunisia's more than 100 public companies, which are
heavily in debt, and to lift subsidies on certain basic
products.
The European Union will stress test Twitter and other platforms
to see how well they comply with the upcoming censorship law,
the Digital
Services Act (DSA), whose enforcement will begin in August. In
a similar style program to that created by the Chinese Communist
Party, where government enforcers visit tech companies directly, a
team of 10 digital specialists will visit the companies later this
month, said Thierry Breton, the EU Commissioner for Internal
Market.
The test will help companies learn how the DSA will be enforced.
Breton, who will also visit the companies, said the team will
review how platforms respond to what is problematic content under
the law including content that has been flagged by the EU and
content that has not been flagged.
The team will also review why some content is not flagged,
citing an example of fake news that caused disturbances but was
promoted because it generated virality and advertising.
Did you have enough moderators beforehand? Was it promoted by
the algorithm? Breton said. We want to do this for real, in the
real world, so they see how it happens, and above all so they
prepare, Breton
said.
Some of the findings from the test will be made public while
some will only be communicated to the companies.
In an interview where he talked about the visits to the social
media companies, Breton said: Im not threatening anyone. We are
here to help companies comply with our new law.
Last week, after Twitter withdrew from the voluntary Code of
Conduct on Disinformation, Breton warned:
You can run but you cant hide, adding that fighting disinformation
will be legal obligation under #DSA as of August 25.
It was a demonstration
that you were willing to put loyalty over morality. Rising high in
the party also meant that others in the ruling class likely had
something on you. No one gained power without other powerful people
knowing of your grim deeds. That way there was mutual trust, or, to
put it another way, mutual blackmail.
Honor among thieves only holds true for those who are guilty of
thievery.
The system was the same in Nazi Germany. You didnt have to join
the party but if you refused, you could not rise in academia,
military, or government. And everyone knew the rules. The party
controlled the state, and members of the party controlled you. Only
the members of the party were trusted with responsibility and
rewarded with emoluments.
We are headed this way in the US today.
The party in question is the lockdown party. Far from having
repudiated this brutal, rights-violating, and ineffective method of
pandemic management, the ruling class is doubling down. Even more
than that, those who participated in the fiasco are being rewarded.
Indeed, participation is now seen as proof of loyalty and a
demonstration that one can be trusted by the people who matter.
Thats my best read on why Mandy Cohen is being pulled away from
her perch in North Carolina, where she led a catastrophic pandemic
response, to be the replacement for Rochelle Walensky as head of
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She is a faithful
member of the lockdown party and thus demonstrates her willingness
to do it again should the occasion arise.
This is not going to help the CDC recover from its terrible
reputation.
Going through her timeline is a strange blast from the past of
heartbreaking fear-mongering, pseudo-science, and propaganda. She
passed with flying colors all three tests
of compliance: closures, masking, and vaccine mandates.
If you believed there was ever any science behind any of this,
Mandy inadvertently revealed otherwise. They made decisions based
on some weird club of lockdowners that gained a feeling of power
and control simply by chit-chatting on the phone with each other.
It was all arbitrary and completely disregarding of human
rights.
Time is running out on truth, the telling of which is being
criminalized. In his Introduction to the 1946 edition of Brave New
World, Aldous Huxley noted that the greatest triumphs of propaganda
have been accomplished, not by dong something, but by refraining
from doing. Great is truth, but still greater, from a practical
point of view, is silence about truth. By simply not mentioning
certain subjects, by lowering what Mr. Churchill calls an 'iron
curtain' between the masses and such facts or arguments as the
political bosses regard as undesirable, totalitarian propagandists
influence thought more effectively than by lying. Churchill was
speaking of the Iron Curtain being lowered over the Soviet Empire
by Stalin. Today the Iron Curtin is being lowered over the "free"
Western peoples by their "democratic" governments, their
"democratic" media, and their "democratic" universities and school
systems. If you are not permitted to know the truth, you cannot
speak it. Elon Musk spent a...
Like a third rate zombie movie on Netflix, delusions of nuclear
fusion repeatedly rise from the dead. The cover story in the June
2023 issue of Scientific American by Philip
Ball, Star Power: Does Fusion Have a Future After All? recycles the
corporate line which was broadcast on December 13, 2022.
The US Department of
Energy (DOE) announced that the National
Ignition Facility (NIF) at the Lawrence Livermore
National Laboratory had reached a breakthrough in developing
an alternative to fission.
As Joshua Frank described the hype over nuclear fusion
theres no toxic mining involved, nor do thousands of gallons of
cold water have to be pumped in to cool overheated reactors, nor
will there be radioactive waste byproducts lasting hundreds of
thousands of years. And not a risk of a nuclear meltdown in sight!
Fusion, so the cheery news went, is safe, effective, and
efficient!
After six months of the announcements being debunked, the
Scientific American article admitted some of the inherent
faults with fusion, repeated some of the original misstatements,
and went on with detailed descriptions of technical tweaks
necessary to make the technology viable in the second half of the
century. Unfortunately, most of those who criticized fusion missed
one of its most serious dangers that discovering a source of
limitless cheap energy would doom humanitys future rather than
enhance it.

appreciate the primary obstacle to expanding nuclear power. MIPS

An FBI whistleblower knows where the evidence is buried and
Sens. Chuck Grassley and James Comer have brought their shovels...
After a confidential human source claimed then-Vice President Joe
Biden agreed to accept money from a foreign national to affect
policy decisions, FBI agents used what's called an FD-1023 form to
record the allegation. Now FBI Director Christopher Wray is defying
a May 3 congressional subpoena to provide this form. On Tuesday, in
response to Wray's refusal to hand over the documents, Oversight
and Accountability Committee Chair James Comer announced the House
will move to hold the FBI director in contempt of Congress. It
isn't that announcement or even the other explosive ones released
over the past year by Comer's Senate colleague, Chuck Grassley that
prove the most telling, however. Rather, it is the combination of
all the details, big and small, that suggests the scandal set to
unfold over the coming weeks will be bigger than anyone
imagined.
"I'm sick and tired of hearing Democrats whining about Joe
Biden's age. The man knows how to govern. Just shut up and vote to
save Democracy." Rob Reiner, Hollywood savant Perhaps you're aware
that the World Health Organization (WHO) is cooking up a plan to
impose its will over all the sovereign nations on this planet in
the event of future pandemics. That means, for instance, that the
WHO would issue orders to the USA about lockdowns, vaccines, and
vaccine passports and we US citizens supposedly would be compelled
to follow them. Why the "Joe Biden" regime would go along with this
globalist fuckery is one of the abiding mysteries of our time
except that they go along with everything else that the cabal of
Geneva cooks up, such as attacks on farmers, and on oil production,
and on relations between men and women, and on personal privacy,
and on economic liberty throughout Western Civ, as if they're
working overtime to kill it off. And all of us with it.
A whistleblower case involving a foundation launched by former

John Durham completing his 'Russiagate' probe. The revival of the
Clinton Foundation case comes after Durham, in his

failures to investigate allegations against" the charity, according
to Just the News. The report stated that the "judge has once again

improprieties involving the controversial Clinton Foundation."
Previously, U.S. Tax Court Judge David Gustafson had refused an IRS
request to dismiss the whistleblower case, which was initially

agency to disclose whether it had conducted a criminal
investigation into the foundation. His request was prompted by a
puzzling "gap" found in the IRS's records,...
A UK government-funded artificial intelligence (AI) firm based
in an unassuming industrial estate in Yorkshire, England, has been
engaged in state surveillance, monitoring the social media posts of
citizens, a recent revelation suggests.
Logically, the firm in question, has earned over 1.2 million
(1.49 million USD) from government contracts to identify and
analyze disinformation and misinformation spread across social
media.
The AI company was started by Lyric Jain, a 27-year-old
Cambridge engineering graduate, who launched the technology first
during Indian elections. With one of the largest dedicated
fact-checking teams globally, the company sifts through material
from hundreds of thousands of media sources and all public posts on
major social media platforms.
Logically has bagged lucrative deals, including a 1.2 million
(1.49 million USD) contract with the Department for Culture, Media
and Sport (DCMS) and another worth up to 1.4 million (1.7 million
uSD) with the Department of Health and Social Care to monitor
threats to high-profile vaccine service
individuals, The
Telegraph reported. Its client list includes US federal
agencies, the Indian electoral commission, TikTok, and
Facebook.
While Logically asserts that it does not share evidence
collected for the UK Government with Facebook, this partnership has
ignited concerns among freedom of speech campaigners.
The companys responsibilities grew over time, aiding in building
a comprehensive picture of potentially harmful misinformation and
disinformation. Documents revealed that it produced regular

Logically defended its actions, stating that it is possible for
content not specifically mis- or disinformation to be included in a

in northern Kosovo's Serb majority area after April elections that
the Serbs boycotted. Kosovo and Serbia have long-running tensions.
Kosovo was originally an autonomous province of Serbia in the
former Yugoslavia. With the support of the US and the West, Kosovo
has been seeking to move further on the road of "independent
statehood" and adopted a hardline attitude toward Serbia. NATO's
involvement has further exacerbated the rift between Kosovo and
Serbia, leading to military conflicts between the two sides and
undermining the peace and unity of the Western Balkans.
The nation's leader has proposed for the move as a step toward
the de-dollarization of the continent... Kenyan president William
Ruto has called upon his African counterparts to move away from use
of the US dollar in local payments. He made the remarks on Monday
in Nairobi, while addressing the African Private Sector Dialogue on
the African Continental Free Trade Area. "We are all struggling to
make payments for goods and services from one country to another
because of differences in currencies. And in the middle of all
these, we are all subjected to a dollar environment." The president
urged his counterparts on the continent to mobilize central and
commercial banks to join the Pan-African Payment and Settlement
System (PAPSS). Launched in January 2022, the PAPSS is a
centralized payment and settlement network for intra-African trade
in goods and services.
Johannesburg is scheduled to host the summit of BRICS, of which
Russia is a member... South Africa is planning legislative changes
to make its national law outrank that of the International Criminal
Court (ICC), according to a deputy minister. The move comes after
the court issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir
Putin. "In June, we'll be submitting the law in parliament," Obed
Bapela, a deputy minister in the South African presidency, told the
BBC on Wednesday. The legislation would allow South Africa to "give
itself exemptions of who to arrest and who not to arrest," Bapela
said. In mid-March, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Russian
President Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova, the presidential
commissioner for children's rights. The court accused them of the
"forcible transfer of population," referring to Moscow's efforts to
evacuate children from combat zones amid the hostilities with
Ukraine. Russia responded by saying the ICC has no authority
or...
A former employee of Amazon's Ring doorbell camera unit spied on
female customers for months in 2017 with cameras placed in bedrooms
and bathrooms, the Federal Trade Commission said in a court filing
on Wednesday when it announced a $5.8m settlement with the company
over privacy violations. Amazon also agreed to pay $25m to settle
allegations it violated children's privacy rights when it failed to
delete Alexa recordings at the request of parents and kept them
longer than necessary, according to a court filing in federal court
in Seattle that outlined a separate settlement. The FTC settlements
are the agency's latest effort to hold big tech accountable for
policies that critics say place profits ahead of privacy. Amazon,
which purchased Ring in April 2018, pledged to make some changes in
its practices.
What is freedom? Where may it be found and accessed? How does it
become actualized from within the individual? And if we are to
become free - then what are we to be free from? In this second
discussion of Ernst Jnger's seminal book The Forest Passage we
follow along with the author's many thoughts on what it means to be
free. Concerning political bodies, the media, institutionalized
medicine, and organized religion - what, if any, is the most
fruitful approach to take in response to their diktats or
guidelines? Where does free will, in the truest sense of the term,
fit in to our responses? And if we are to face our fears and find a
way to resist the tide of totalitarianism how should one approach
the possible suffering that will likely be involved? With the heart
of a poet, and the mind of a realist, Ernst Jnger has given us much
to ponder as we reflect on what he means by becoming a 'forest
rebel'. Join us this week on MindMatters as we delve further into
his world view, and a...
