More than 260 fragments of animal bones have been found at the monument. The excavation of an enigmatic stone monument in AIUIa in Saudi Arabia is offering fresh insight into the rituals and culture of Neolithic-era peoples. Called a "mustatil," the structure is one of about 1,600 such rectangular monuments that have been recorded across northern Arabia. As part of a five-year project by the University of Western Australia and the Royal Commission for AlUla, researchers are studying one particular mustatil, dating back 7,000 years, with large slabs of sandstone encircling a long inner courtyard. Within the 140-meter (460-foot) long complex, archaeologists identified 260 fragments of animal remains, namely the skulls, horns, and teeth of domestic cattle such as goats and gazelles.

On Monday, the Public Health Agency of Canada released a report on climate change and its impact on Canadians' wellbeing. The document centred around interviews with numerous "key public health experts," each of whom tied environmental issues to their particular cause du jour. The report alleged that white supremacy, capitalism, colonialism, and racism were all "systemic drivers of negative health outcomes and climate change," and therefore the only way forward is via a plan focused on "decolonizing, justice, and equity." The report begins with the authors, Isaac White, Jennifer Otoadese, and self-identified "white settler scholar" Dr. Heather Castleden, stating that, "we acknowledge that we are uninvited land occupiers who by virtue of our identities contribute to the multiple manifestations of settler colonialism in our society."

A new rule from the Biden administration will force homebuyers with good credit scores to pay higher mortgage rates in order to subsidize loans to those with riskier borrowing profiles, the Washington Times reports. The fee, which will apply to those buying or refinancing houses after May 1, will affect homebuyers with credit scores of 680 or higher, will amount to roughly $40 per month on a home loan of $400,000, or nearly $500 per year. Homebuyers who make down payments of 15% - 20% will be hit with the largest fees. According to those in the industry, the changes will frustrate homebuyers with high credit scores, as well as those looking to refinance, as they're being punished for having strong financial positions.

The newly-released 2022 Disasters in numbers report from CRED (Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters) is even more dishonest than its 2021 report, claims retired Associate Professor of Physics Dr. Ralph Alexander. The most egregious statements are said to involve the death toll from weather-related disasters. According to CRED's own emergency events database EM-DAT, mortality is 98% lower today than a century earlier. But a "more careful examination" of mortality statistics is said to indicate this percentage may be misleading. "Misinterpreting statistics could be harmful if it supports a discourse minimising the importance of climate change," it notes. The State Board of Education on Wednesday voted to bar Florida middle school and high school teachers from "intentionally" teaching students about sexual orientation or gender identity, unless the lessons are part of a reproductive health course or are "expressly required" by the state's academic standards. Bad Drrenberg is a modest spa town in eastern Germany, perched on a bluff overlooking the Saale River. Real estate experts expect a further decline in new residential construction in Germany as building permits for dwellings slumped 20.6% year-on-year in February, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reported on Tuesday. Twitter altered its "hateful conduct policy" Tuesday to lift its ban on "misgendering" and "deadnaming" transgender people. Inflation in the UK came in at over 10% year-on-year in March, the highest rate among countries in Western Europe, official data showed on Wednesday. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the consumer price index (CPI) in the UK fell by less than expected to 10.1% in March, whereas economists had predicted a drop to 9.8%. The February reading stood at 10.4% year-on-year. The southwest experienced some unusual winter weather this year, with record rainfall, record snowfall and now rare waterfalls. Snow is still melting off the mountains, leaving a beautiful water wonderland at Gunlock State Park. It was a great year for Utah's snowpack -- most of the state 200 to 400 percent above average. In southwest Utah, the melted snow is running into the Santa Clara River, and the overflowing water causes waterfalls like the ones at Gunlock State Park.

A strong earthquake shook Papua New Guinea on Wednesday but no serious damage or casualties were expected, officials said. The magnitude 6.3 earthquake was centered in West New Britain province at a depth of 55.7 kilometers (35 miles), the U.S. Geological Survey said. It began at an altitude of about 96 km over the locality of Pulgar (province of Toledo), moved along an almost vertical trajectory, and ended at a height of around 59 km. This bright meteor was recorded in the framework of the SMART project, operated by the Southwestern Europe Meteor Network (SWEMN) from the meteor-observing stations located at Huelva, La Hita (Toledo), Calar Alto, Sierra Nevada, La Sagra (Granada), Sevilla, and Faro de Cullera (Valencia).
