Why the Deep State Is at War With Trump "IndyWatch Feed Economics"

By: David Stockman
17211877253_792413a6ee_b.jpg

If you were a Martian visitor just disembarked from of one of Elon Musk's rocket ships and were therefore uninfected by earth-based fake news, the culprits in Washington's witch-hunt de jure would be damn obvious.

They include John Brennan, Jim Comey, Sally Yates, Peter Strzok and a passel of deep state operatives -- all of whom baldly abused their offices. After Brennan had concocted the whole Russian election meddling meme to sully the Donald's shocking election win, the latter three holdovers -- functioning as a political fifth column in the new Administration -- set a perjury trap designed to snare Mike Flynn as a first step in relitigating and reversing the voters' verdict.

The smoking gun on their guilt is so flamingly obvious that the ability of the Trump-hating media to ignore it is itself a wonder to behold.

After all, anyone fresh off Elon's rocket ship would learn upon even cursory investigation of the matter that the National Security Agency (NSA) intercepts electronically every single communication of the Russian Ambassador with any person on US  soil -- whether by email, text or phone call.

So the clear-minded visitor's simple question would be: What do the transcripts say?

In fact, a Martian visitor would also quickly understand that the entire world -- friend, rival, foe and enemy, alike -- already knows of NSA's giant digital spying operation owing to Snowden's leaks, and that therefore there are no "sources and methods" on the SIGINT (signals intelligence) front to protect.

Accordingly, the disinterested Martian would undoubtedly insist: Declassify the NSA intercepts and publish them on Facebook (and, for old timers, on the front page of the New York Times) so that the truth would be known to all.

The Deep State Watergate

Of course, that would punch a deep hole in the entire RussiaGate witchhunt because NSA, in fact, did record Flynn's late December conversations with Russian Ambassador Kislyak. And there was not a single word in them that related to alleged campaign collusion or otherwise inappropriate communications by the in-coming national security adviser to a newly-elected President who was three-weeks from inauguration.

Indeed, as explained below, Mueller has effectively told us that Flynn's communications with Kislyak were clean as a whistle.

Accordingly, there was no reason whatsoever -- as in none, nichts, nada and nugatory, too -- for the FBI's January 24th interview of Flynn. F...

William Carter: The Case of the Missing Barrels "IndyWatch Feed Europe"

Tripoli was dangerous not as dangerous as Benghazi but still dangerous. Random, lethal violence was to be expected. There were no police officers, no official law enforcement of any kind only tribal militia, who ruled the roost. He told me to be careful of ambushes while being driven around the city. What should I do if I get ambushed? I asked. Well, standard operating procedure in the army is to shoot your way out. Dont be static. Push on, fight back. I pointed out to him that I was an unarmed middle-aged lawyer who would be sitting in the back of a rickety saloon car when the moment came. He shrugged.

Neal Ascherson: Gorbachevs Dispensation "IndyWatch Feed Europe"

Not many people change the world. Fewer still are thanked for it. Adolf Hitler changed the world on 22 June 1941: by invading the Soviet Union, he delivered Hitlers Europe, the divided continent we lived in until 1989. We were not grateful for that. Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev changed the world, as so many adoring millions saw it at the time, by ending the threat of their extermination by nuclear war and by allowing Europes captive nations to liberate themselves. But then, a Samson already blinded by his enemies, he brought down the gigantic temple of the Soviet Union on his own head, and his own power perished with it.

Jean McNicol: Harriet Harman "IndyWatch Feed Europe"

Harman was first elected to the shadow cabinet in 1992 and her account of her difficulties in her first job, as shadow chief secretary to the Treasury, Gordon Browns deputy, are typical of the descriptions she gives of her ministerial career as a whole. She stresses her own inadequacy and failure in a way its almost impossible to imagine a mans political memoir doing.

Eric Foner: After Hamilton "IndyWatch Feed Europe"

One political leader who apparently tried to act on the idea of establishing a new nation in the heart of North America was Aaron Burr. Apparently, because the exact scope and intentions of what came to be known as the Burr Conspiracy of 1805-7 remain murky at best. Until recently, Burr was really known for one thing: killing Alexander Hamilton in a duel in 1804.

Director of the Institute of Education Sciences: Who Is Mark Schneider? "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

Mark S. Schneider, who served as commissioner of the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) in the George W. Bush administration, was nominated November 28, 2017, to lead the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) in the Department of Education.

Schneider was born October 28, 1946. He earned a B.A. at Brooklyn College in 1967, and then a Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina in 1974. Schneider was also a Fulbright Hays Senior Fellow at Osmania University in Hyderabad, India.

Schneider served as vice president of the American Political Science Association before becoming in 1986 a professor of political science at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, eventually becoming department chair.

In 2005, Bush nominated Schneider to lead NCES, part of the Institute of Education Sciences. The administration favored charter schools, putting Schneider in an awkward position when an Education Department report was released showing fourth-graders in traditional public schools did significantly better in math and reading than fourth-graders at charter schools. Schneiders reaction was that the Education Department should stop studying such questions and leave such research to independent groups. Of charter schools, Schneider was quoted as saying: We know they are not doing harm, so they pass a fundamental test of policy analysis.

Schneider left government service in October 2008 to become vice president and institute fellow at the American Institutes for Research, a behavioral and social science research and evaluation organization, where he worked until being appointed to IES. One of Schneiders projects there is College Measures, which studies relative return on investment for college degree programs. One of its findings is the not-surprising fact that what a student majors in has a direct correlation to a graduates earning potential, with technical and health fields outpacing liberal arts studies.

Schneider is also a visiting scholar at the conservative American Enterprise Institute. He is the co-author of the 2009 book Charter Schools: Hope or Hype?

More bad news for Wasserman Schultz as lawsuit claims husband tried to rip off elderly homeowner "IndyWatch Feed World"

To steal the words of Queen Elizabeth, 2017 will go down as an "annus horribilis" for the family of U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. In the wake of Wasserman Schultz's roasting in Democratic Party stalwart Donna Brazile's book and the Weston politician's failure to fire a tech aide who was under FBI investigation, her husband is now accused of trying to rip off an elderly homeowner, according to a lawsuit recently filed in Fort Lauderdale. Broward banker Steve Schultz, Wasserman-Schultz's husband of 26 years, allegedly tried to have 70-year-old investor Frank DiMaria hand over the deed of his troubled $4 million commercial property in Pompano Beach to Schultz personally, according to the complaint.

It May Be The Final Days Of Free & Open Internet "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

While internet providers like Verizon will definitely abuse their monopoly-like power with net neutrality protections, undoing Obama era net neutrality rules will escalate corporate control of mass media in the US and must be avoided. Local Governments Ask FCC To Delay Net Neutrality Vote "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

By Jay Cassano for IB Times - When the Federal Communications Commission votes December 14 on Chairman Ajit Pais proposal to repeal net neutrality, the Obama-era rules that classified broadband providers as common carriers, regulation of the internet will likely be ceded to the Federal Trade Commission. With the vote approaching, a coalition of local governments and consumer protections groups sent a letter to the FCC Monday morning asking the commission to delay the vote until a crucial, obscure court case is resolved. Leading those governments is New York City, alongside a host of high profile consumer rights advocates. At issue is the case FTC vs AT&T Mobility , which could undermine the FTCs regulatory authority. AT&T's unorthodox argument: that because part of its business is already regulated by the FCC as a common carrier, the FTC does not have jurisdiction because of what is known as the common carrier exception. That exception is normally read to apply to specific activities of businesses and not the entire business itself. Nonetheless, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit originally sided with AT&T. The decision was later vacated and is now being reviewed en banc by the entire court.

OnePlus 5T Is The Fastest-Charging Smartphone, Not The iPhone X "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

The Fastest Charging Phone: OnePlus 5T vs iPhone X

With the rise in augmented features and various applications available in our smartphones, we have completely lagged behind somewhere. Our smartphones are no more a mobile phone rather it is a charging phone. The batteries dont take much time to drain out either.

This issue created a new market for power bank, to carry portable batteries and recharge our phone. However, the issue still lies within; the cell phones take a long time to charge. So the next possible way to solve the issue is to avail fast charging options. Therefore the manufacturers have shifted their focus towards fast charging possibilities.

In todays world, copying a technology does not take much time. So now the issue lies with the consumers. Which smartphone shall I buy? Or which is the fastest charging phone, when several brands are claiming to have the same feature?

Well, the good news is, it has been tested and the report is in front of you. After a series of test conducted with various smartphones, it has been observed that LG V30 charges up to 53 percent, Pixel 2 reached 38 percent, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 achieved 35 percent of power in the 30-minute span. Whereas, in the case of iPhones, the test was carried out twice, once with 5 Watt and the second time with 29 Watt charger and observations were 58 percent, 55 percent and 37 percent on the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X respectively after a full hour of charging with 5 Watt charger and 50 percent, 49 percent and 47 percent on the iPhone X, iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus with 29 Watt charger.

Well, the question is still unanswered: Which smartphone shall I buy? Or which is the fastest charging phone, when several brands are claiming to have the same feature?

It depends on your usage, preference & weight age of the various features you require. Some people dont need a fast charging phone as they do not have high usage rate; whereas for few who are constantly using numerous apps & features may appreciate a fast charging phone.

Coming to the second question, as per the test conducted, it has been witnessed that the OnePlus 5T hits 59% after 30 minutes of charging, and 93% after an hour. This is considerably much higher than the competitors phone. So if you are looking forward of possessing a fast charging phone, then you can add OnePlus 5T in your checklist while purchasing a new phone.

Awful. Pope Slams President Trump for Recognizing Jerusalem as Capital of Israel "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

Outragous.
Pope Francis continues to plant himself on the wrong side of history once again.

On Wednesday Red Francis slammed US President Donald Trump for recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Francis is worried the Muslims may get violent.
He believes appeasement is the best policy.
Unreal.

Maybe hes worried about his head.

Francis obviously needs to spend more time reading his Bible and less time appeasing radical Islam.

The Daily Mail reported:

Pope Francis has said he cannot silence his deep concern ahead of an announcement by US President Donald Trump in which officials said he will recognise the disputed city as Israels capital.

Trump is due on Wednesday to set in motion the relocation of the US Embassy to the Jerusalem, senior US officials said, upending decades of US policy and risking further violence in the Middle East.

In an appeal at the end of his weekly general audience, Francis called for all to honour United Nations resolutions on the city, which is sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims.

I make a heartfelt appeal so that all commit themselves to respecting the status quo of the city, in conformity with the pertinent resolutions of the United Nations, he said.

The pope told thousands of people at his general audience: I cannot keep quiet about my deep concern about the situation that has been created in the last few days.

Of course, the only people who have a problem with the presidents decision are radical Muslims or far left hacks.

This pope wants to appease the Muslims.
What a failed leader.

My personal consulting services: creative futures "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

My personal consulting services: creative solutions

By Jon Rappoport

Here are three articles Ive written about my personal consulting services. They touch on the inherent power of the individual to invent the future he profoundly desires:

ONE: Ive worked with a number of private clients over the years. Its been inspiring to see them find buried dreams and visions and pour energy into their fulfillment.

When I use the term creative solutions, I mean solutions to life itself. Because life wants to create. Creating is, to the spirit, what breathing is to the body.

Consulting has also given me the opportunity to see the uniqueness of every individual. I dont apply a one-size-fits-all system or protocol. Its the uniqueness that is the source of energy and vision.

When you come right down to it, every person on the planet is different. Systems and organizations dont recognize that.

If we want to look at a root reason for the troubles that societies and civilizations encounter, there it is. Structures are put in place to produce sameness. Sameness of thought, response, and action. Whereas, the truth is, every person has his/her own take on reality. It is that personal point of view which gives birth to creative solutions.

My work with private clients has reinforced and expanded that notion. Discovering someone elses point of view is invigorating, especially when it is backed up by their desire to make something, do something, create something in the world.

There is no reason to try to impose a synthetic and artificial point of view on another person. He/she already has, at some level, a perspective that is dynamic, even if, at present, it only exists in potential form.

Covered up by layers of sameness, the world is composed of individuals, every one of whom would grasp his/her dreams and visions and work to make them come true.

For some, grasping the unique vision results in immediate action. For others, pulling the trigger on action is the challenge. But in either case, the opportunity is there.

The great social and political struggles of history were aimed at setting the stage for this opportunity. For each individual.

When people talk about the good life, this is what they mean or should mean. The chance to launch creative solutions to livingbecause living is the prelude to inventing the future. Thats what living is for.

I write this article a few days after one of my long-term clients has just published her third book. When we began, she had perhaps an inkling she wanted to be a writer. Nothing more. Over time, that changed. And eventually, she started putting words to paper and discovered she had the ability a...

Modi government hampering Pakistan-India ties: Khawaja Asif Modis government is religious extremist "IndyWatch Feed War"

Image result for Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, photos

ISTANBUL: Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif remarked that the government of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is hampering the relations between Pakistan and India.

We would like to have a good relationship with the Indians, but I dont think there is a chance of any improvement for relationship with the present religious extremist government in Delhi, he said while speaking to Imran Garda on The Newsmakers, a current affairs programme of TRT World.

When asked if Modis government is religious extremist, he remarked: Modis government what they did in Gujarat when Modi was the chief minister he killed, he massacred over 2,000 Muslims over there. Hes massacring Muslims in Kashmir also. So there is actually a genocide and ethnic cleansing of Muslims going on.

The foreign minister also alleged that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in India is a religious extremist movement.

MailSploit vulnerabilities allow email spoofing with more than 30 email clients "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

A security researcher discovered a collection of vulnerabilities dubbed MailSploit affecting more than 30 popular email client software.

Email spoofing is quite simple and it is an important activity in any phishing/spear phishing attack.

Attackers modify email headers and send an email with the forged sender address to trick recipients into opening the message believing they are receiving it from a trusted source.

The security researcher Sabri Haddouche has discovered a collection of vulnerabilities affecting more than 30 popular email client software that could be exploited by an attacker to send spoofed messages bypassing anti-spoofing systems.

The collection of flaws discovered by Haddouche was dubbed MailSploit, the list of vulnerable clients includes Apple Mail (macOS, iOS, and watchOS), Mozilla Thunderbird, several Microsoft email clients, Yahoo Mail, ProtonMail, and others.

It is curious to highlight that almost any affected email client has implemented anti-spoofing mechanisms, such as DKIM and DMARC.
MailSploit flaws affect the way email clients and web interfaces parse From header.

The expert set up a dedicated website that contains details about the set vulnerabilities.

Mailsploit is a collection of bugs in email clients that allow effective sender spoofing and code injection attacks. The spoofing is not detected by Mail Transfer Agents (MTA) aka email servers, therefore circumventing spoofing protection mechanisms such as DMARC (DKIM/SPF) or spam filters. reads the website.

Bugs were found in over 30 applications, including prominent ones like Apple Mail (macOS, iOS and watchOS), Mozilla Thunderbird, various Microsoft email clients, Yahoo! Mail, ProtonMail and others.

Haddouche explained that flaws result from the lack of input sanitization by flawed email clients, they are not related to vulnerabilities in DMARC mechanisms.

The researcher published a PoC, he used the email of the US President potus@whitehouse.gov, he explained that all headers must only contain ASCII characters, including the From header.

The trick resides in using RFC-1342 (from 1992!), a recommendation that provides a way to encode non-ASCII chars inside email heade...

Oldest known waterway system that took a mystery Neolithic civilisation 3,000 people and nearly a decade to build is found in China "IndyWatch Feed World"

An enormous waterway system built 5,000 years ago is rewriting the history of early Chinese engineering. The recently excavated dam system was used by the Liangzhu society, a mysterious Neolithic group known for its stunning jade artefacts. It took 3,000 people nearly ten years to build the waterway, which pushes back the date of the earliest known complex Chinese water system to around 5,100 years ago. Experts found a series of high and low dams, as well as levees, that they say is one of the world's largest and oldest known hydraulic engineering systems. Until now, the oldest known comparable systems had been Mesopotamian, dating to around 4,900 years ago.

By Alex Burness for Boulder News - Boulder is holding off, for now, on renewing a contract with JP Morgan Chase, the city's longtime banking provider and a funder of controversial oil pipelines. Meanwhile, environmental advocates are urging Boulder to ditch JP Morgan Chase and create a public bank an idea that will at least be discussed in concept, according to the mayor. About a year ago, the City Council passed a resolution in support of the Standing Rock Sioux and allies who protested the Dakota Access Pipeline, and in doing so also asked city finance staff to explore possibly severing ties with JP Morgan Chase, Boulder's bank since 2004. After issuing a request for proposals from banks and doing several months of exploration, staff returned in October to report to the council, via a memo, that it did not appear there were any banks both capable of handling the city's significant banking needs and up to the city's ethical standards on fossil fuels and other matters. The recommendation from staff was that Boulder extend the city's relationship with JP Morgan Chase. But the memo containing that recommendation arrived at an awkward time, Mayor Suzanne Jones said, since an election was around the corner. "I imagined that few had had time to read (the memo) and respond," Jones said this week, in an email.

DEA Claims Synthetic THC Made by a Group of Criminals is Safer Than Actual Weed. Seriously. "IndyWatch Feed World"

DEA synthetic THC

The DEA recently announced through the federal register that the synthetic THC made by Insys, sold under the brand name Syndros, will be listed as a schedule II drug, meaning it can now be prescribed by doctors. In the meantime, actual THCcontaining the exact same properties, but able to be grown in your backyardremains on the same scheduling list as heroin, noting that it has no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse.

Insys has become notorious over the last two years after six former executives and managers were arrested on charges that they engaged in a nationwide scheme to bribe doctors to prescribe a drug containing the opioid fentanyl. Now this same group of dangerous drug peddlers is being given a partial national monopoly on the sale of legal THC, by the group who claims to protect Americans from drugs.

Along with the executives, Michael Baich, the former CEO, was also charged in an indictment filed in federal court. Even the companys billionaire founder, John Kapoor was arrested in October for his role in the bribery scheme. He was freed on a $1 million bail after pleading not guilty.

When asked about this overt conflict of interest and unscrupulous handout to Big Pharma, the DEA answered with a typical bureaucratic reply.

As VICE reported, the DEA noted in its announcement on Wednesday that it received public comments from people opposed to making synthetic THC products Sch...

Rodrigo Duterte, Donald Trump, and the Worldwide Nationalist Revolt "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

NOTE: This article was originally published at Right On on May 12, 2016. Im re-posting it here as the site is now defunct.

Rodrigo Dutertes triumph in this weeks presidential election in the Philippines is yet another sign that the tide is turning against globalism. While comparisons between Duterte and Donald Trump are overdone, they and other nationalist politicians are tapping into the same vein of discontent with world elites.

The Philippines is a country few think about if they dont have to. Most people know it as a one-time American colony that now serves as a bottomless vat of call center employees and LBFMs. Culturally, the Philippines resides in a dead zone between the first and third worlds: its too kleptocratic to be a tax haven, its too Catholic to be a hotspot for sex tourists, and its not edgy enough to interest hipster backpackers, most of whom stick to drug-filled fleshpits like Cambodia or Thailand.

Foreign coverage of the Philippine presidential election has focused on Dutertes womanizing and outlandish public remarks, from his offer to sleep with the brides at a mass wedding to his comments on an Australian missionary who was gang-raped and murdered in a prison break during his mayoralt...

Could The DCCC Staff Actually Defeat A Wave That Could Sweep The Democrats Back Into Power? Sure-- They're Good At It "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

Every cycle the DCCC sends out something like these faux contracts-- "Memorandums of Understanding" they're calling it-- to their favorite candidates in the "hot races." I haven't found a single candidate who likes them. In fact most of the candidates I've spoken to are either railing against it-- or laughing at it. Actually they're all laughing at it-- at least to me. The idea of being trained by the DCCC is a sad joke. Trained? Trained to what? Lose, the only thing the DCCC is good at? That line about 75% of paid communications (ads)... every candidate I spoke with gave the DCCC the proverbial finger. One top campaign manger told me it's a money laundering scheme whereby the DCCC "lines the pockets of it's revolving door permastaff." He added: "Fuck them!"

After the Republican 2010 wave that wrecked the House Democrats, almost 7 years ago to the day, I wrote a post-- with help from several Members of Congress-- about the grotesque corruption of the DCCC and how their staffers get their hands on contributions to enrich themselves. I recommend reading it today.

Several candidates were also laughing about the staffing paragraph. "Who wants their 'professionals?' I'd slit my wrists before letting any of their incompetent idiots into my campaign." Another campaign manager said, "That's how they ruin so many campaigns......

Trump to Recognize Jerusalem as Capital of Israel? "IndyWatch Feed War"

I have my doubts, personally. Perhaps that's my own bias?
However, if he does... expect expanded war. On a larger scale. Which would be in line with my overall suspicions about Mr Trump and his presidency.

Reuters uk

"President Donald Trump will announce on Wednesday that the United States recognises Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and will move its embassy there, breaking with longtime U.S. policy and potentially threatening regional stability.

Despite warnings from Western and Arab allies, Trump in a 1 p.m. (1800 GMT) White House speech will direct the State Department to begin looking for a site for an embassy in Jerusalem as part of what is expected to be a years-long process of relocating diplomatic operations from Tel Aviv.
Jerusalems status has been a stumbling block in decades of on-off Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts. Israel considers the city its eternal and indivisible capital and wants all embassies to be based there. But Palestinians want the capital of an independent Palestinian state in the east of the city.
Washingtons Middle East allies have all warned against the dangerous repercussions of his decision.
Pope Francis called for Jerusalems status quo to be respected, saying new tension in the Middle East would further inflame world conflicts. China and Russia expressed concern that the plans could aggravate regional hostilities.
Trump will sign a national security waiver delaying a physical move since the United States does not have an embassy structure in Jerusalem to move into. A senior administration official said it could take three to four years to build one.

But Trumps decision, a core promise of his campaign last year, will upend decades of American policy that has seen the...

YOU SAY "CYNICAL OUTRAGE GENERATION MACHINE" AS IF THAT'S A BAD THING! "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

Lefties regularly say that right-wing media figures sustain the conservative movement through the daily generation of outrage. We argue that conservatism at the grassroots level consists almost entirely of this outrage -- there are no ideas on the right, only resentments.

Right-wingers might protest that there's more to conservatism than that -- but today Mark Bauerlein, a right-wing CNN commentator, essentially gives the game away, in a piece titled "Why Trump Is Still Winning."

It's debatable that Trump is winning, but he's retained most of the fans who put him in the White House. How is he managing this? Bauerlein explains:

You see, Trump has an invincible ally at the far end of the ideological spectrum ... people on the far left who see the world only through the lens of race, gender, sexuality, and victimhood.

In the Chronicle of Higher Education last week, Brittney Cooper, a professor at Rutgers had this critique about the legacy of Galileo, Newton, Pasteur, and Einstein: "The history of Western thought and science is predicated on the argument that African and indigenous peoples are inferior races."

That's right -- all those inventions and discoveries that we honor and the geniuses we remember had a racist underside, by her lights. Elsewhere in the article she wrote, "No questions have ever been off-limits for white scholars," a statement that would surprise every white scholar I've ever known.

People who still can't assimilate the ascent of Trump need to pay closer attention to these accusations. They're not uncommon. Sensible liberals shrug them off as, well, kind of true but not really significant to health care, the environment, reproductive rights, and other progressive planks.

But people who voted for Trump have become especially attuned to such charges, and it only takes a quick playback by Rush Limbaugh or Tucker Carlson of the day's denunciation of America, white males, or the West by Professor X, Opinionator Y, or Celebrity Z to stoke their sense that the intellectuals loathe them. The more the accusers talk, the more rock hard Trump's base becomes.
There it is. Bauerlein quotes an obscure article by a professor who's unknown to the general public. He links to the piece, which the general public won't even read, because it's behind a paywall. He acknowledges that many liberals have concerns other than what professors write.

So the publication of Cooper's article isn't a major political event in America -- and yet, as Bauerlein trium...

Chiles Political System Shaken By Rise Of New Anti-Neoliberal Left "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

By Staff of The Bullet - First, its clear that the result, for any observer, was a complete surprise. Although looking at it now we can see that there were many signs pointing to the possibility of a high vote for the FA, the truth is that no one believed it was possible to go into double digits. Polls showed it with about 8% support, and the history of the left in the past three decades in Chile is one in which it has never surpassed this limit. Moreover, the FA went to the elections without the backing of the biggest left force in the country in terms of history, number of activists and organising capacity: the Communist Party. In this context, the first point is the surprise factor. The second is the political chaos that has been generated in Chile. If the FA is seeking to alter the balance of forces that has dominated Chile for almost three decades since the final years of the dictatorship, it has still not achieved this. But [the election] was a big step forward in this direction: it created electoral uncertainty, not only in terms of the second round, but for years to come in Chile. In this way, the FA went from being ignored by the traditional political forces, to being the third political force in a system accustomed to only two players. And it is not just any third force, but one whose program is based on the big anti-neoliberal social struggles of the past decades.

Im not going to praise Time magazine, since theyre just another tool of the conservative establishment, but they did make a wise choice in their selection for their Person of the Year cover, The Silence-Breakers, all the women who have started a wave of change against a culture of harassment.

Donald Trump gets several mentions in the article, and they arent flattering. He must be fuming. Frame it and put that on the wall of your golf courses, Donnie boy. I hope these women are part of the reaction that tears you down.

I hope this recognition is a small part of a change thats beginning just beginning. Theres a long way to go. Im just reminded of how disgracefully our social media has been shaped to be a tool enabling harassers to thrive: how Facebook is openly discriminating against women who protest, while I know of a great many men on Twitter who are notorious abusers, and still are given a platform. Astronomers discover new stellar stream in Milky Way galaxy "IndyWatch Feed World"

An international team of astronomers has detected a new thin stellar stream in the halo of the Milky Way galaxy. The newly discovered feature, named "jet stream," could help researchers answer fundamental questions about the mass distribution of the Milky Way's dark matter halo. The finding was presented November 24 in a paper published on the arXiv pre-print server. Stellar streams are remnants of dwarf galaxies or globular clusters that once orbited a galaxy but have been disrupted and stretched out along their orbits by tidal forces of their hosts. So far, nearly 20 stellar streams have been identified in the Milky Way, just a few in the Andromeda galaxy, and about 10 outside the Local Group. Astronomers are interested in finding new stellar streams in the Milky Way, as they hope that such features could answer some crucial questions about the the galaxy. For instance, stellar streams could help us understand the large-scale mass distribution of the galactic dark matter halo. Moreover, they could confirm whether or not our galaxy contains low-mass dark matter subhalos.

Reporters Without Borders Tries To Shut Down Press For White Helmets "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

By Brandon Turbeville for Transcend Media Service - 28 Nov 2017 Self-proclaimed press freedom watchdog Reporters Without Borders launched a new campaign that it deemed of urgent importance shutting down a short panel discussion by journalist Vanessa Beeley and Swedish Doctors for Human Rights. The USAID/NED-funded RWB wrote an open letter published in the Tribune de Geneveaddressed to Guy Mettan, Executive Director of the Swiss Press Club, the organization that was hosting the event, where it dismissed Beeley as a so-called journalist who is cited only by Russian media propaganda and claimed that Doctors for Human Rights is merely a tool of Russian propaganda. The letter urged Mettan to cancel the event or risk tarnishing the image of the Swiss Press Club. The event was entitled They dont care about us: About White Helmets True Agenda, where Vanessa Beeley, who has reported extensively from inside Syria would present alongside fellow panel members Richard Labeviere and Marcello Ferranda De Noli editor of the Proche et Moyen Orient and Swedish Doctors For Human Rights respectively were scheduled to present. As the title suggests, the event was merely a platform to discuss the possibility that the reputation of the White Helmets in Western countries may be different from the reality on the ground. Beeley was included not only because of her expertise in terms of research but also because of her extensive on-the-ground experience in Syria, her length of time in country, and her numerous interviews and investigative reports from Syria itself.

Not so bird-brained: Pigeons can discriminate both space, time "IndyWatch Feed World"

Finding underscores that animals beyond humans and primates show abstract intelligence New research at the University of Iowa shows that pigeons can discriminate the abstract concepts of space and time -- and seem to use a different region of the brain than humans and primates to do so. In experiments, pigeons were shown on a computer screen a static horizontal line and had to judge its length or the amount of time it was visible to them. Pigeons judged longer lines to also have longer duration and judged lines longer in duration to also be longer in length. What that means, says Edward Wasserman, Stuit Professor of Experimental Psychology in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the UI, is pigeons use a common area of the brain to judge space and time, suggesting that these abstract concepts are not processed separately. Similar results have been found with humans and other primates.

Declaration Of War: Trump Jerusalem Decision Sparks Outrage, Warning Of A Fire With No End In Sight "IndyWatch Feed World"

trump-deep-state1

Today at 1 pm, president Trump will announce the U.S. recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, but will sign a waiver delaying the relocation of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to there for 6 months. Trumps decision to unilaterally recognize Jerusalem upends decades of American policy in the Middle East and risks inflaming violence in an already-tense region. And sure enough, the announcement prompted an immediate and furious response sparking Arab, Muslim and European opposition to a move that would upend decades of U.S. policy and risk potentially violent protests.

While Israel naturally welcomed the news, Palestinian officials declared the Mideast peace process finished, calling it a declaration of war, and Turkey announced it would host a meeting of Islamic nations next week to give Muslim countries leaders an opportunity to coordinate a response.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Jordans King Abdullah II, warned him the announcement would have dangerous repercussions for regional stability. Separately, the Palestinian delegate to the United Kingdom said on Wednesday that President Trumps move to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel signals a declaration of war in the region. He is declaring war in the Middle East, he is declaring war against 1.5 billion Muslims, hundreds of millions of Christians that are not going to accept the holy shrines to be totally under the hegemony of Israel, Manuel Hassassian told BBC 4 Radios Today.

The Palestinians seek east Jerusalem as the capital of a future independent state and fear that Trumps declaration essentially imposes on them a disastrous solution for one of the core issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. There is no way that there can be talks with the Americans. The peace process is finished. They have already pre-empted the outcome, said Palestinian official Hanan Ashrawi. They cannot take us for granted.

The U.S. decision destroys the peace process, added Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah. Top Palestinian officials were meeting Wednesday to plot their course forward.

Elsewhere, the Turkish governments spokesman on Wednesday said that the United States decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel will plunge the region and the world into a fire with no end in sight.

Your Private Information is a Gift "IndyWatch Feed World"

(HRW)  On a hot day last August, I turned off a street in Brooklyn thats crowded with trendy shops and ducked into Shag, a boutique adult store that offers a friendly space for all customers regardless of gender or sexual orientation. I was there to interview owner Sam Bard about the role privacy plays in explorations of sexuality, something about which I had recently written for Human Rights Watch.

The rights to privacy, free expression, and basic human dignity including the ability to develop ones sexuality are all closely intertwined, which is the point I expected Bard to make. Instead, she offered a distinct perspective one that is especially pertinent as many people in the United States prepare to meet loved ones for the winter holidays.

Having something private to share, she said, and choosing to share it with someone else, creates [a] bridge, between people and facilitates intimate connections.

In other words, our secrets, desires, hopes, beliefs, and other private thoughts are a gift one we give to show trust and strengthen our bonds with the people we value most. And that gift, I would add, is one we should all be able to decide whether to offer. Its not one a government should be able to snatch away without our consent, unless it has a good reason and a judges sign-off.

In the coming months, the US Congress will debate whether to let the National Security Agency continue carrying out two of its massive surveillance programs. The Supreme Court will also decide whether police need a warrant to grab cellphone location data, which by implication can reveal many intimate details of personal life.

2nd Verse: I've Got the Google Algorithm Blues- Project Owl "IndyWatch Feed War"

In a previous post we talked Googles censorship via its algorithms. Created for the express purpose of  controlling narratives. Which in turn controls thoughts and ideas while eroding freedom of speech.

I won't rehash to much of the previous post- It's relinked below and is also accessible at

the side bar as the featured post: I've Got the Google Algorithm Blues- Project Owl

In the comments section, Gallier2 left  comments reporting on the results of his search engine testing.  It was already clear to me from my stats that censoring had been occurring. Gallier's testing seals the deal. Yes, Google Algorithms are being employed to censor this blog.
The question is how can these algorithms be circumvented?
What can be done to get around them?
Anyone have any ideas?

Funny, I just tested the search engine with that search text 'Ive Got the Google Algorithm Blues- Project Owl' i.e. the title of this article.
Result: no link to pennyforyourthougth2.blogspot.? from google. The article was listed from other blogs who had copy/pasted or simply syndicated via rss, but not your blog I checked the 5 first pages.
I also tested on duckduckgo and there it was listed prominently as the first entry.

Does President Trump Want to Negotiate Middle East Peace? "IndyWatch Feed War"

In the debate over a potential Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement, no issue is more charged with emotion than the future of Jerusalem. Should the holy city be the capital of the Israelis alone or shared with the Palestinians?

Yet now, with no serious peace talks underway, President Trump is reportedly planning to grant the Israelis wish and confound the Palestinians by recognizing Jerusalem as Israels capital and moving the American Embassy there from Tel Aviv, thereby tossing aside decades of American diplomacy. Why?

Mr. Trump insists he is committed to achieving the ultimate Middle East peace agreement that eluded his predecessors. But his decision to tip the scales toward Israel on this critical matter, communicated to Arab and Israeli leaders on Tuesday, almost certainly will make an agreement harder to reach by inflaming doubts about Americas honesty and fairness as a broker in negotiations, raising new tension in the region and perhaps inciting violence.

Native American tribes to sue Trump over 'unlawful' Bears Ears decision "IndyWatch Feed World"

Five Native American tribes have pledged to sue US President Donald Trump over his decision to shrink the Bears Ears National Monument in Utah. President Trump announced on Monday that he was reducing Bears Ears from 1.3 million acres to 228,784 acres (53,000 sq km to 926 sq km), meaning it will be just 15 percent of its original size. He also revealed that the Grand Staircase-Escalante will also be reduced by nearly half. The decisions sparked a strong reaction from Native American groups in the region with five of them announcing that they will be collectively suing the president in an attempt to reverse the decision.

Shiveluch volcano in Russia erupts spewing hot ash 6 miles into the sky "IndyWatch Feed World"

A Siberian super volcano has terrified experts after it began spewing piping hot ash 6 miles into the air. Scientists working at the geophysical department of the Russian Academy of Science in north-eastern Russia's Kamchatka Krai region have confirmed the giant eruption took place at the site of the Shiveluch Volcano yesterday over a 20 minute period and saw the volcano spew ash 10 kilometres (6 miles) into the sky. Experts have raised the alert after the volcano flung hot ash into the air for the first time since February 2016. It is not believed any locals or villages surrounding the eruption were affected.

Trump's Truly Reckless Move On Jerusalem "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

Weve been doing an okay job of holding up the fence, but Trump has some momentum now and hes beginning to knock shit down and break it. Next up is our relationship with the Muslim world, friend and foes alike. The Supreme Court got the ball rolling yesterday when they upheld Trumps travel ban for people from Chad, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen. Apparently, tomorrow Trump will pour some kerosene on the fire by announcing that were moving our Israel embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing Jerusalem as the capital.

Our allies are united in saying this is a very bad idea. Some of these countries may not be able to be our allies for much longer. Obviously our enemies are furious and will use this to recruit people who will do us harm. The worst part is probably that this is wholly unnecessary and cant even solve any problems in theory. This isnt like trying to rid your property of a wasps nest by hitting it with a bat. Its like taking a wasps nest out of your neighbors yard, carrying it home, and then hitting it with a bat.

Theres simply no need to move our embassy at this time, and its a particularly reckless move to recognize Jerusalem as Israels capital. Theres complete unanimity that this will cause a violent backlash and undue stress on our international relationships, with the only debate coming from people who welcome these problems.

The King of Jordans response was typical:

King Abdullah II strongly cautioned against the move, stressing that Jerusalem is the key to achieving peace and stability in the region and the world, according to a statement from the royal palace in Amman.

King Abdullah stressed that the adoption of this resolution will have serious implications for security and stability in the Middle East, and will undermine the efforts of the American administration to resume the peace process and fuel the feelings of Muslims and Christians, the statement said.

The reaction from NATO member Turkey was similar:

In a televised speech, Mr Erdogan addressed the US president directly, saying Mr Trump! Jerusalem is a red line for Muslims.

We could go as far as cutting diplomatic ties with Israel over the issue, he added....

Does Trump Sleep Well With Pence Behind His Shoulder? "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

Were Donald Trump a learned man, he might prophesy those once false to him will grow in falseness. And thus denied sleep with worry, would cry out, Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.

Alas, Donald is not a learned man, with no counsel so wise as King Richard to warn of the treacheries to come.

If so, Mike Pence would prove a lesser threat.

Earl of Warwick: There is a history in all mens lives,
Figuring the natures of the times deceasd;
The which observd, a man may prophesy,
With a near aim, of the main chance of things
As yet not come to life, who in their seeds
And weak beginning lie intreasured.
Such things become the hatch and brood of time;
And, by the necessary form of this,
King Richard might create a perfect guess
That great Northumberland, then false to him,
Would of that seed grow to a greater falseness;
Which should not find a ground to root upon
Unless on you. Henry IV, Part 2, Act III, Scene I

Yes, Mike Pence plotted once when times were grim. Would of that seed not grow a greater falseness; which should not find a ground to root, unless on Trump again? Ere he plotted once; he shall plot again.

After the Access Hollywood tape came out on October 7th, 2016, Pence thought he saw an opening to defenestrate the top of the ticket and take it for his own.

Its been reported that Pence sent Trump a letter saying he needed time to decide whether he could stay with the campaign. But in fact, according to several Republicans familiar with the situation, he wasnt just thinking about dropping outhe was contemplating a coup. Within hours of The Posts bombshell, Pence made it clear to the Republican National Committee that he was ready to take Trumps place as the partys nominee. Such a move just four weeks before Election Day would have been unprecedentedbut the situation seemed dire enough to call for radical action

The furtive plotting, several sources told me, was not just an act of political opportunism for Pence. He was genuinely shocked by the Access Hollywood tape. In the short time theyd known each other, Trump had made an effort to convinc...

It Aint Paranoia If Youre Really Being Investigated "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

Today, Darren Samuelsohn of Politico provides us with yet another article about how people in the White House are freaked out and worried that everyone they talk to is wearing a wire. There are a lot of silly things in this piece, including the dubious idea that no one can ever be surreptitiously recorded if they have a lawyer. Find me a mob boss who doesnt have a lawyer.

But the main problem is with something that goes completely unstated. Yes, it would certainly be unnerving to go to work each day wondering if any of your conversations are being listened to by federal law enforcement officers. I get that, and I think you get that, too. But it wouldnt make you paranoid for your own safety unless youre in the habit of having incriminating conversations with your friends and colleagues at work.

Both [the Flynn and Papadapoulos] cases raise the possibility that other current or former colleagues have also flipped sides and theyre prompting anxiety that those people could be wearing wires to secretly tape record conversations.

Everyone is paranoid, said a person close to Trumps White House. Everyone thinks theyre being recorded.

If were talking about Paulie Walnuts having a conversation at that bar in the Bada Bing, then I can see how a wiretap aimed at one crime might uncover another. But, is the White House the criminal equivalent of a mobbed up Jersey strip joint?

White House attorneys and private counsel representing both current and former Trump aides told Politico they immediately checked in with their clients once they learned about Muellers plea agreements with Papadopoulos and Flynn, asking whether theyd had any communications with their former colleagues that could have been secretly recorded and reminding them to diligently avoid conversations with anyone except their lawyer related to the Russia investigation.

Theyre probably shing bricks, said an attorney who represents a senior Trump aide caught up in the Russia investigation. How can you not?

Again, I get that the lawyers have a job to do. But why would so many people in the White House be shitting bricks that they may have been or could be recorded in the future? Even discussions of the Russia investigation shouldnt be problematic unless something was said that the Special Counsel might want to introduce in court.

Now, I can see how someone might be totally innocent but still worried that they might get summoned to speak with a grand jury and then incur legal fees, but how likely is that to happen if they havent sa...

It's Not About the Logan Act "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

Over the weekend, I wrote a piece called Flynn and Kislyaks Israel Talks Were a Bigger Deal, by which I meant that the Flynn-Kislyak communications on December 22nd about the anti-settlers U.N. resolution were more troubling than their December 29th communications about the expulsion of thirty-five Russian diplomats. My basic point is backed up by Daniel Hemel and Eric Posner in a New York Times opinion piece this morning called Why the Trump Team Should Fear the Logan Act. As they argue persuasively, if the Logan Act has any legitimate application at all, it must be appropriate in a situation where someone has both the power and the influence to actually undermine the U.S. governments position on a U.N. Security resolution.  Flynn did not succeed in convincing Russia to veto or force the delay of the resolution, but the Trump team did succeed through other means in forcing a temporary delay.

It should be noted here, though, that the egregiousness of what the Trump team did to undercut the governments position on the U.N. resolution had nothing in particular to do with Russia.  Flynn was instructed to contact all fifteen members of the U.N. Security Council, and Russia was on that list because theyre a permanent member, not because of anything they might have done to help Trump get elected.  Flynn lied about discussing sanctions with Kislyak because it would have looked incriminating in light of the release of the Steele Dossier and the declassification of the Intelligence Communitys report on Russian hacking. He lied about asking Russia to veto or delay the U.N. Resolution because it was a potentially criminal violation of the Logan Act.

Thats not to say that the Logan Act wasnt implicated in the sanctions conversations, but it was a less obvious and more defensible violation because Flynn didnt ask Russia to do anything beyond showing restraint.

These are distinctions largely missed by Byron York. For him, the FBI would never have questioned Michael Flynn on January 24th if they werent relying on the Logan Act as their justification. And, since the Logan Act has never been successfully prosecuted and is...

White House: Report that Mueller has subpoenaed Trump's bank records is false "IndyWatch Feed World"

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Tuesday disputed reports that special counsel Robert Mueller has subpoenaed President Trump's bank records. "We confirmed that the news reports [that] the special counsel had subpoenaed financial records related to the president are completely false," Sanders said during the daily press briefing. "No subpoena has been issued or received. We have confirmed this with the bank and other sources. I think this is another example of the media going too far and too fast and we don't see it going in that direction," she said. Citing an anonymous and unidentified official, Reuters reported earlier Tuesday that Mueller's team had subpoenaed records from Deutsche Bank, where Trump is believed to have a line of credit and to have conducted tens of millions of dollars in transactions.

Vilhelm Hammershoi "IndyWatch Feed Politics.us"

Vilhelm Hammershoi (1864-1916) is one of Denmark's most celebrated artists. Which might say something interesting about Denmark, given that most of his pictures show quiet white rooms with paneled doors and a bit of furniture; sometimes there is also a woman, almost always wearing black, almost always shown from the back.

Like this one, Woman Seen from the Back. Some critics love these because of the intensity of the unseen. NY Times art critic Ken Johnson:
What marks Hammershois paintings as modern isnt style as much as a searching, melancholic mood. . . . Something is hidden, and its not just whatever it is that she is doing. Hammershois rooms are spaces of spiritual inquiry animated by transcendental vibes that are felt but not seen.
And the doors: if they are closed, what is behind them? If they are open, what might be coming through them? Johnson again:
Interior: An Old Stove (1888), an early example, represents a dim room vacant but for a hulking black furnace to the left. Through an open door to the right is a cl...

Washington, D.C. - Over the weekend, information about Special Counsel Robert Mueller's top FBI investigator into 'Russian meddling', agent Peter Strzok, being removed from the probe due to the discovery of anti-Trump/pro-Clinton text messages exchanged with a colleague (a colleague whom he also happened to be having an extra-marital affair with) broke. Chancellor Angela Merkels conservatives are hoping to form a coalition with the SPD after failing to get a three-way coalition with the liberal Free Democrats and Greens off the ground. The SPD will debate the idea of once again joining such a coalition at a congress on Dec. 7-9.

Schulz criticized Merkel indirectly for not embracing Macrons ideas, which include closer cooperation in defense, migration and a deeper integration of the euro zone.

Our congress will be about this tomorrow. What are our possibilities, our options, our instruments for ensuring that Germany embraces these French ideas, Schulz said at an SPD conference in the partys Berlin headquarters.

France is making proposals and Germany is not engaging. This is not acceptable, he added.

Zookeeper Arrested For Trying to Molest a Gorilla "IndyWatch Feed World"

A San Diego Zoo employee has been formally accused of repeated sexual assault on a 15-year-old male gorilla.

Akimbo Obwebwe, a 29-year-old zoo intern originally from Gabon, was found guilty of feeding sedatives to Big George, one of the zoos top attractions, and partaking in sexual activity with the sedated animal.

According to unreleased video footage, Obwebwe proceeded to insert the animals penis inside his mouth for several minutes but apparently underestimated the strength of the medication, leading the animal to wake up and lash back at the zookeeper, alerting other employees.

Although Mr. Obwebwe claims the sexual relationship was consensual, video footage clearly shows he attempted to sedate the animal, Adam Simmons, a San Diego Zoo spokesman told reporters.

His conduct was clearly inappropriate, reckless and dangerous for the animal as well, he explained.

Any sexual activity between animals and employees is strictly prohibited by San Diego Zoo policy, he added.

Unreleased video footage allegedly shows Big George, one of San Diego Zoos top attractions, being sexually assaulted by Akimbo Obwebwe, a 29-year-old zoo intern originally from Gabon.

San Diego Zoo administrator, Janette Fitzgerald, says Mr. Obwebwe may have acted out of despair after learning his wife had left him.

Some employees had voiced concerns that Mr. Obwebwe had recently become uneasily friendly with the animals since his divorce, but I could not expect it was this bad, she told reporters.

I am not aware of Gabonese cultural practices but it might also be a cultural thing, she added.

According to current Californian law, bestiality is classed as a misdemeanor, an offense that is punishable by a maximum six-month county jail sentence and a maximum $1,000 fine.

Woman Born with Two Vaginas sues Government over Right to Have Two Husbands "IndyWatch Feed World"

A Californian woman born with two vaginas is challenging the Federal government over the right to have access to a polygamous marriage.

Joyce Seymour, 38, believes her atypical physical condition should allow her the right to have at least two husbands to fulfill her emotional, physical and religious needs.

Seymour has filed a federal lawsuit seeking to allow people suffering from genital anomalies such as Diphallia or penile duplication and Uterus didelphys, the condition of having two separate uteruses, to be permitted to have multiple spouses.

I am born with a double set of genitals that clearly entitles me to share my life and be united under God with two men of my liking, she told reporters.

I have never been sexually fulfilled by one man alone. My body is biologically suited for threesomes and there is no reason I should be ashamed of that fact, she explained.

If the federal government has legalized interracial marriages and same-sex marriages, why not polygamous marriages? she asks, visibly irritated.

The federal law criminalizing polygamy is unconstitutional and violates his clients due process and First Amendment religious freedom rights.

According to San Francisco-based polyamorous activist Frederique Chapelle, the time to legalize polygamy has come.

Now that weve defined that love and devotion and family isnt driven by gender alone, why should it be limited to just two individuals? The most natural advance next for marriage lies in legalized polygamy, he told reporters.

We polyamorists are grateful to our LGBT brothers and sisters for blazing the marriage equality trail, he explained.

Marriage no longer has anything to do with giving birth to a child. Its all about sexual enlightenment, he added.

Under current U.S. federal law, polygamous marriages are illegal although polyamorous cohabitation is permitted in a number of st

The Cold War Now and Then "IndyWatch Feed War"

He said he absolutely did not meddle in our election. He did not do what they are saying he did.

President Trump re Vladimir Putin after their meeting in Vietnam.

Putin later added that he knew absolutely nothing about Russian contacts with Trump campaign officials. They can do what they want, looking for some sensation. But there are no sensations.1

Numerous US intelligence agencies have said otherwise. Former Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, responded to Trumps remarks by declaring: The president was given clear and indisputable evidence that Russia interfered in the election.

As well see below, there isnt too much of the clear and indisputable stuff. And this, of course, is the same James Clapper who made an admittedly false statement to Congress in March 2013, when he responded, No, sir and not wittingly to a question about whether the National Security Agency was collecting any type of data at all on millions of Americans. Lies dont usually come in any size larger than that.

Virtually every member of Congress who has publicly stated a position on the issue has criticized Russia for interfering in the 2016 American presidential election. And it would be very difficult to find a member of the mainstream media which has questioned this thesis.

What is the poor consumer of news to make of these gross contradictions? Here are some things to keep in mind:

How do we know that the tweets and advertisements sent by Russians - those presented as attempts to sway the vote - were actually sent by Russians? The Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS), composed of National Security Agency and CIA veterans, recently declared that the CIA knows how to disguise the origin of emails and tweets. The Washington Post has as well reported that Twitter makes it easy for users to hide their true identities.2 Even if these communications were actually sent from Russia, how do we know that they came from the Russian government, and not from any of the other 144.3 million residents of Russia?

Even if they were sent by the Russian government, we have to ask: Why would they do that? Do the Russians think the United States is a Third World, under-developed, backward Banana Republic easily in...

Crystal Meth Addict Nearly Dies after Chewing off his Own Penis "IndyWatch Feed World"

A man was found in a critical condition and lying a pool of his own blood after he allegedly chewed off his own penis while high on drugs.

37-year old Thomas James Franklin from Newark in New Jersey is recovering in the hospital after what investigators described as a five-day methamphetamine binge which ended with him biting off his own genitals.

According to a 31-year woman believed to be his girlfriend, he had smoked up their remaining supply and began to act really weird.

He started talking to his penis and telling it to shut up,  she told investigators. He kept threatening it and telling it to leave him alone.

She said Mr. Franklin was convinced that his penis was possessed by a demon named Gorgoth so he decided to chew it off.

He just yelled: You asked for it, Demon! and bent over to bite his own penis!

The woman says she laughed at first but called 911 once she realized he was bleeding heavily.  When the paramedics arrived on the site a few minutes later, Mr. Franklin had lost consciousness and a lot of blood.

He was rapidly transported to the Saint Michaels Medical Center where doctors were miraculously able to stabilize him.

Dr. James Davis, who treated Mr. Franklin upon his arrival at the hospital, hopes this case will show the danger of drug abuse and convince Americans to stay away from crystal meth.

Methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as crystal meth, is a recreational drug that has earned a very bad reputation in recent years

Users have been known to experience violent psychotic events, and a few other cases of self-mutilation have made the headlines over the last few years.

Jars of Pickled Human-Testicles Found in Storage Unit "IndyWatch Feed World"

A man was shocked after he purchased the content of a storage unit at an auction Yesterday, in Anaheim: five glass jars filled with dozens of marinated human testicles.

57-year Allen Price paid $375 at an auction for the content of a seized storage unit, hoping it could hold some hidden treasures.

He did find several interesting and unusual objects among piles of old clothing, like an entire set of surgical tools dating from Nazi Germany, some medieval torture instruments and an Incan drinking cup made from a human skull.

He also founds several ancient books and scrolls about alchemy and occult rituals, including a 3300-year old Babylonian clay tablet inscribed with a recipe for an elixir of immortality, which was apparently stolen during the looting of Iraqs national museum in 2003.

This got even stranger when he opened a large wooden chest hidden in the back of the unit under piles of junk.

It was filled with creepy stuff like a Tibetan flute made from a human femur, a voodoo amulet made from a dried monkey hand, and a shrunken human head. I also found a few jars filled with blood, and five jars filled with testicles pickled in wine.

Worried that many of these items could be illegal in California, Mr. Price contacted the Anaheim Police Department who rapidly dispatched investigators to the site.

They were rapidly able to determine that the former tenant had used a false identity to rent the unit, and investigators are already working to identify him.

According to employees of the storage rental company, hes a white male, aged between 60 and 75 years old and speaks white a Germanic or East European accent.

Anaheim Police Chief John Welter confirmed that an investigation was underway to identify the former tenant of the storage unit.

This isnt the first time that buyers make strange discoveries inside seized storage units.

Over the last few years, several disturbing finds have been reported across the USA, including an amputated leg and a dead grandm...

Russia Banned from Olympics for Killing Our Terrorists in Syria #BoycottOlympics "IndyWatch Feed Europe"

by Scott Creighton

After the completion of a study headed by a Swiss globalist center right politician Samuel Schmid, the IOC, headed by German Thomas Bach, has decided to ban Russia from the 2018 Winter Olympics being held in South Korea in a few months. They say they are allowing their athletes to compete under a neutral flag if they clear the screening process.

This is just a continuation of the demonization of all things Russia due to that countrys participation in and negative impact on our regime change operations in Syria and Ukraine.

The West is trying to show they have a great deal of influence on world events and will use that influence to make people pay for what they believe are slights committed by foreign nations against their national interests operations. In this case, the victims are Russian athletes who have worked their entire lives to ready themselves for this event.

Its a cruelness that is befitting globalists these days. Everyone and anyone can be a target when they, like spoiled children, throw a tantrum because they didnt get what they wanted.

Funny thing is, no one seems to notice the rather obvious coincidence involving the timing of these accusations and Russias involvement in blocking our efforts in Syria. All of that is just lost in the collective hive mind of the American public these days. Russia started blocking UNSC resolutions regarding Syria and humanitarian bombing plans in late 2011 and the alleged doping scandal started not that long afterward, led by some British globalist shill of a journalist and then was taken up by a German film maker.

26 year old Ken Spencer, filed for a divorce with Tyron Smith, 28, only four hours into their wedding night after realizing his partner had lied to him about his inch-long penis.

The newlyweds who had waited until marriage to partake in any sexual relationship, visibly had a traumatizing experience during their first night as a married couple.

Like, Im not racist or anything, but the fucking dudes black. I mean, he should at least have a decent size pecker, he told reporters.

Its short, stumpy and crooked. It leans on the right at a 45-degree angle, then curves back to the left. Its definitely the grossest thing Ive ever seen, he explained.

I wouldnt even put that thing in my mouth if the guy gave me a twenty, he added, visibly disgusted.

Divorce attorney Kevin Goldstein claims that his client was lied to about the unusually small sized genitalia of his partner who had never told him that he had an inch-long penis.

Ken Spencer is also suing his former partner for the $30,000 wedding costs and a canceled $5,000 honeymoon trip to Hawaii.

He lied to me about the size of his dick when he knew size mattered a lot to me, he told reporters.

I still have about 30 of his dick pics he sent to me on my cell phone. They are clearly not his. Im keeping them as evidence for the judge, he explained.

Im glad to say that no penetration occurred. As soon as he spread out his legs and showed me his thingy, I dashed out of the room and never looked back, he added, visibly relieved.

In many states, the fraudulent conduct of one spouse may provide grounds for divorce. The definition of fraud in the context of divorce law equates to one spouse grossly misrepresenting issues so important that the other spouse would not have married him had she known the truth.

How Students Get Banished to Alternative Schools "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

In October 2014, less than two months after entering North Augusta High School in Aiken County, South Carolina, Logan Rewis paused to drink from a fountain in the hallway between periods. As he straightened up, water fell from his mouth onto the shoe of his social studies teacher, Matt Branon, who was standing nearby. Logan says it was an accident, but Branon thought Logan had spat at him.

My bad, the 15-year-old with bushy sandy-brown hair and blue eyes says he told Branon after the teacher confronted him.

Branon, who is also the schools baseball coach, was incensed. Freaking disgusting, he shouted at Logan as the teen walked away. Branon pursued Logan and grabbed the freshman by his backpack.

Get your freaking hands off me, Logan recalls yelling. School officials say he used a different f word.

Though Branon had arguably escalated the conflict, he wasnt disciplined but Logan was. In a decision that changed the course of his education and life, the school district banished Logan to its alternative school, the Center for Innovative Learning at Pinecrest.

The word alternative implies a choice. But in an era when the freedom to pick your school is trumpeted by advocates and politicians, students dont choose the alternative schools to which districts send them for breaking the rules: Theyre sentenced to them. Of 39 state education departments that responded to a ProPublica survey last year, 29, or about three-quarters, said school districts could transfer students involuntarily to alternative programs for disciplinary reasons.

Like Logan, thousands of students are involuntarily reassigned to these schools each year, often for a seemingly minor offense, and never get back on track, a ProPublica investigation has found. Alternative schools are often located in crumbling buildings or trailers, with classes taught largely by computers and little in the way of counseling services or extracurricular activities.

The forced placements have persisted even though the Obama administration in 2014 told schools they should suspend, expel or transfer students to alternative schools only as a last resort and warned them that they risked a federal civil rights investigation if their disciplinary actions reflected discrimination based on race. Federal data shows that black and Hispanic students are often punished more than white students for similar violations.

Moreover, despite legal protections afforded students with disabilities, a disproportionate number of those exiled in some districts have special education plans like Logan,...

The Deep State Plot to Conquer America Is On Full Display "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

In the previous parts of this series, it was established that the Bundys judge, Gloria Navarro, was running interfernce for Obama and protecting Harry Reid. Her illegal conduct and unconstitutional behavior in the trial, served to direct attention away from the use of ranchers land, like the Bundy land, in which uranium was being extracted and sold to the Russians in the now labeled Uranium One scandal in which the Clinton Foundation was profiteering from treason against the people of the United States. History will judge the Uranium One scandal to be the biggest scandal in the history of the United States.

Additionally, it was established in the previous part of this series that Obama administration facilitated, through people like Senator Harry Reid and his son, paid almost $5 million dollars, to oversee the intrusion of Chinese military front groups on to ranchers lands, near airbases, whose aircraft would repel any type of Red Dawn invasion. The Chinese were using the installation of solar energy farms as the cover. These solar energy farms still exist and are growing at an exponential rate in places like California and are deeply embedded in the CALEXIT movement.

This story broke when I was informed that the Bundys were being ordered to be released and I received this information from an FBI informant almost 3 days before Navarros ruling. Through DOJ forces loyal to Trump,  Navarro was threatened for prosecution for malfeasance of office, obstruction of justice, malicious prosecution and treason. There is no question that this rogue judge will be turning states evidence at a future date.

Based upon my previous research and the development of the facts as they presently exist in this case, it is clear that Navarros actions were facilitating, in part, a planned invasion of the southern underbelly of the United States in what is often called a Red Dawn invasion.

The invasion will come in two parts:

  1. Fifth column forces (UN forces, rogue elements of the CIA, Chinese soldiers, Russian soldiers, MS-13, ISIS and various drug cartels will carry out a series o...

The International Olympic Committee's (IOC) decision to ban the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) from the 2018 Winter Games in PyeongChang is yet another attempt to "isolate" the country, the Russian Foreign Ministry says. While previous attempts to isolate the country failed, the 2018 Olympics ban came as a new plan, the official said.

Midway though the large-scale aerial exercises involving hundreds of warplanes, the US has flown a B-1B supersonic bomber over South Korea. The bomber flew from Guam and joined US F-22 and F-35 stealth fighters in the military drills. North Korea has consistently described the B-1B as a nuclear strategic bomber, although the plane was converted to carry conventional weaponry in the mid-1990s.

Global vaccine cartel wreaks destruction: the evidence "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Global vaccine cartel wreaks destruction: the evidence

by Jon Rappoport

December 6, 2017

Massive vaccine damage, hidden.

Put these two public-health agency statements up against each other:

DONT GIVE THIS VACCINE TO PEOPLE WHOSE IMMUNE SYSTEMS ARE WEAK, BECAUSE DIRE CONSEQUENCES WOULD FOLLOW.

WE GAVE THIS VACCINE TO 100 MILLION PEOPLE, MILLIONS OF WHOM HAD WEAK IMMUNE SYSTEMS, AND IT WAS A GLORIOUS SUCCESS, ONE OF THE GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE HISTORY OF MODERN MEDICINE.

Doesnt add up, does it? Across a population of 100 million people, widespread harm and death would have occurred.

Read on, and follow the inexorable logic.

The FDA released a statement (8/28/17), about its crackdown on a California company pushing an unapproved treatment for cancer patients: stem cells mixed with a smallpox vaccine. (I reported on this here.)

But thats not the big story. The big story is buried in the FDA press release. Here is the Agencys statement:

Serious health problems, including those that are life-threatening, can also occur inpeople whohave problems with their heart or immune system if they become infected with the [smallpox] vaccine virus, either by being vaccinated or by being in close contact with a person who was vaccinated.

Get it? The FDA is admitting that those with certain prior health conditions who pick up the smallpox virus, as a result of vaccination, are at exceptionally high risk. AMONG THOSE PRIOR HEALTH CONDITIONS IS: IMMUNE SYSTEM PROBLEMS.

That simply means: weak and compromised immune systems.

And yetduring the years 1966-1980, a massive smallpox eradication campaign was carried out in Africa, under the auspices of the World Health Organization. Roughly 100 million doses of the smallpox vaccine were given to Africans, MILLIONS OF WHOM ALREADY HAD SEVERELY COMPROMISED IMMUNE SYSTEMS.

How much devastation was wrought by this vaccination campaign?

The World Health Organization, in 1980, celebrated the eradication of smallpox on the African continentbut was that what really happened?

Or was it this? The visible signs of smallpox receded, but people with already-compromised immune systems began dying in large numbers. (Is THAT what would soon be called AIDS?)

Despite Trump's push the US Border Patrol is losing more agents than it can hire "IndyWatch Feed World"

The Homeland Security Department is making some progress in fulfilling President Trump's mandated hiring spree, according to a year-end report, but is still failing to bring on more border agents than it loses through attrition. Customs and Border Protection hired a total of 1,477 frontline personnel in fiscal 2017, the agency announced on Tuesday, a 14 percent increase over the number it brought on the previous year. Most of those hires were for CBP officer positions, which saw a 21 percent spike in new people. Trump's request for 5,000 new CBP employees, however, focused on Border Patrol agents. The agency saw just a 4 percent increase in new employees for those positions. While the numbers demonstrate some progress at CBP, which has for years struggled to keep pace with a congressionally mandated floor of employees, they reflect only new hires without accounting for net losses. Ronald Vitiello, CBP's acting deputy commissioner, said even the increased hiring in fiscal 2017 has failed to keep pace with the losses sustained at the agency.

I Hate Flexible Spending Accounts "IndyWatch Feed Economics"

I hate flexible spending accounts, i.e. those accounts where you put say $1000 in tax-free but you then must submit a bunch of health or education receipts to claim the moneyand the benefits manager tells you half of the receipts you submitted are no good so you have to trawl through your files to find moreor lose the money. The whole process is demeaning. My hatred of this process, however, pales in comparison to that of Scott Sumner who gives a correct analogy:

Imagine a government that took 10% of each persons income, and put in in a wooden box. The box was placed at the end of a 10-mile gravel road. Each citizen was given a knife, and told then could crawl on their hands and knees down the road, and then use the knife to cut a hole in the box, and retrieve their money.

Scotts point is twofold. First, there is a lot of waste in crawling down the road. Second, taken in isolation, it looks like the plan at least offers people an option and so, in isolation, flex accounts and their ilk appear to benefit taxpayers. In the big picture, however, the total amount taken in taxes is somewhat fixed by politics and economics so if we got rid of the spending accounts, taxes would probably fall in other ways that are difficult to predict but nonetheless real.

Some want to crawl down the gravel road, fearing that if they abolish the program the government will not reduce their tax rates, instead the money in the box will be diverted to welfare for the poor, or higher salaries for teachers. I cant deny that this might occur, but if we dont even TRY to build a good country, how can we possibly succeed? Isnt it better to try and fail, rather than not even try?

I agree with Scott. If I am going to be forced to pay taxes Id like to hand over my cash in a clean transaction and not be given the option of crawling to recoup some bills the tax collector magnanimously throws on the floor.

Rooftop Wiretap Aims to Learn What Crows Gossip About at Dusk "IndyWatch Feed Tech"

What are crows saying when their loud cawing fills a dark winter's evening? Despite the inescapable ruckus, nobody knows for sure. Birds congregate daily before and after sleep, and they make some noise, but what might be happening in those brains is a mystery.

Curious about these raucous exchanges, researchers at the University of Washington Bothell are listening in. They are placing equipment on the roof of their buildinga meeting place for some of the thousands of crows that sleep in nearby campus treesand using a sort of computerized eavesdropping to study the relationship between calls and the birds' behavior.

"With audio alone, our team is able to localize and record the birds remotely, and in dim light that makes this situation less suitable for video tracking," said Shima Abadi, an assistant professor at UW Bothell's School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics. "It's still a challenging task, but we can use the audio signals to look for patterns and learn more about what the birds may be communicating."

Crows are very intelligent creatures and among the few that can use tools. In recent years scientists have come to study them as a way to better understand human intelligence and how it evolves in nature.

Russia's victory in Syria births a new era in the Middle East "IndyWatch Feed World"

With the liberation of Abu Kamal on the Iraqi border, the last Syrian town controlled by ISIS, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies have completed the task of eliminating the Caliphate and its control over Syrian cities. ISIS returns to its original dimensions of being a terrorist organization without control of any territory or a city-state proclaimed as its capital. Comment: U.S. creation of its proxy army ISIS in Iraq and Syria part of imperial divide-and-conquer strategy for Middle East These are important days, with political conferences about the future of the region and Syria itself occurring from Sochi to Cairo and passing through Riyadh. In Sochi, Assad met with Putin to confirm the alliance as well as Moscow's loyalty to the Syrian State, and to also focus on a political solution. The Russian and Syrian presidents agreed on the need to involve the largest possible number of opposition groups in the reform process. In this regard, the meeting between Rouhani, Erdogan and Putin was also aimed at creating the conditions for an inclusive solution for all those who have agreed to put down arms and engage in talks with the legitimate government in Damascus. Arab League rings alarm bells over Houthi menace "IndyWatch Feed War"

.
CAIRO: Arab League chief Ahmed Aboul-Gheit called on the international community on Tuesday to take immediate action in order to contain the dangerous developments in Yemen.
.
His spokesman Mahmoud Afifi quoted Aboul-Gheit as saying that the assassination of former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh on Monday demonstrates the criminal nature of the Houthi militants.
.
Aboul-Gheit said Salehs death leaves Yemen, which is already exhausted by war, on the brink of further deterioration on the humanitarian level.
.
The Houthi militias have rejected all solutions that have been proposed to resolve the conflict that erupted in 2014, he said according to his spokesman. Their refusal to deal with any political efforts reveals that their devious plot is aimed at having the Yemeni people submit to their rule, he said, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.
.
This plan should be thwarted through all possible legitimate means, he said.
.
It is time the international community, especially the influential powers, realized that the Houthi militia is a terrorist organization that is ruling the people through the force of arms. All means should be used to save the Yemeni people from this nightmare, he stressed.
.
He warned Yemens situation could explode further and worsen humanitarian crisis. All means should be tackled for the Yemeni people to get rid of this black nightmare, he said.

A Sad Countdown: Scientists Watch a Species Go Extinct "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Conservationists in Mexico have front-row seats as yet another species is on the verge of extinction. They can watch, but it looks as though there is little they can do to prevent it.

This time, the species in question is the vaquita porpoise. Experts believe there are only about 30 vaquita left in the warm waters of Mexicos Gulf of California, the only area in the world where the small porpoises are known to live.

Only discovered in 1958, the vaquita known as the panda of the sea for the darkened rings around its eyes has always been a rare and enigmatic creature. A 1997 study identified roughly 600 vaquita in the Gulf of California, and by 2008, that figure had dropped to about 250. But the vaquitas numbers have dwindled dramatically in recent years, and the species exponential decline can be attributed almost entirely to human activity, especially gillnetting (more on this below).

When the last of them dies, the vaquita will pass on the dubious distinction of the worlds most endangered marine mammal to the next species on the list.

To prevent that from happening, conservationists had been engaged in a last-ditch effort to rescue the porpoises. An international team of experts set out to identify and track any remaining vaquita, with the hope of eventually placing them in specially designed sea pens where they could be safely housed and monitored.

That was a risky prospect, especially considering that similar porpoises cant survive in human care.

The mission was a part of VaquitaCPR, an international effort that brought together multiple nongovernmental organizations and the governments of the United States and Mexico in a final, emergency attempt to save the vaquita from the brink of extinction.

Even the US Navy got involved and contributed a group of specially trained dolphins to spot any members of the species across the Sea of Cortez.

Stressed to Death

.

For the first several weeks of the operation, efforts to save the creature seemed promising. In late October, scientists made history by briefly capturing a vaquita calf before returning the baby to the wild after it began to show signs of stress. The capture appeared to indicate that long-term care could be viable with the right precautions in place.

But in early November, the teams nightmare scenario unfolded when an adult female vaquita...

Texas: Eastham Unit Water Supply Shut Completely Off "IndyWatch Feed Enviro"

by Keith Malik Washington

Hasan (Shakur) was the hardest worker I ever met. He founded organizations, sat on boards, and planned antiviolence concerts in the community. He put out a newsletter a hell of a lot more regularly than many groups on the outside. He helped numerous organizations with strategic planning. He pushed everyone around him mercilessly. And he did all this from a cell the size of a bathroom, with the held breath of murders stench on it.
-Walidah Imarisha, exerpt from page 110 Angels with Dirty Faces

Hasan Shakur was the first minister of Humyn Rights for the New Afrikan Black Panther Party (prison chapter). The State of Texas murdered Hasan. They took his body from us. Recently I have been feeling Hasans spirit looking over my shoulder nudging me prodding me to do more. His legacy was to serve the People until Death overtakes us. I WILL uphold that legacy!

Its Saturday November 4th 2017. I am trapped inside a Texas Prison known as the Eastham-Ad-seg unit. Eastham is the oldest maximum security prison in Texas.

The water has been shut completely off for 4 days! We cant shower, we cant wash our hands, and worst of all we cant flush our toilets which are full of feces, urine, and humyn excrement.

By day #2 the pungent odor of humyn waste pervades the entire building. I could hear my fellow prisoners and comrades screaming and banging: Bring us some fxxxing water! Courtesy and decorum has been thrown completely out the window. A female officer named Ms. Scott was supposed to come around in the evening of day #2 with buckets of water to pour inside our toilets. She never showed up!

These buckets of water act as a kind of courtesy flush providing a temporary reprieve from the ubiquitous smell of raw sewage in our living area.

By day #3 the smell is unbearable but like many Im locked in this cell 24 hours a day. The entire unit is on lock-down undergoing a bi-annual shakedown which is common at all Texas prisons.

Actually it was a horrible coincidence that a major pipe burst 2 days after the lockdown began. Prison workers have been slaving around the clock attempting to locate and fix the busted pipe(s). I have a birds eye view of their work area. They have been using a jackhammer to break up the concrete on...

Some jarring numbers to show that Ukraine's economy is a wreck (video) "IndyWatch Feed World"

"Many millions of its citizens have left the country in search of a better life." Here is what the neocon's 'democratic' coup has wrought: The currency is worth less than one-third of what it was before. Average salary, less than half of what it was and the same goes for the GDP. All tech jobs that once promised opportunity have now vanished. Foreign investment is now less than one-third of what it was before the revolution that sought to sever the country from Russia and economically unite it with the West. The irony being that Russia is still the major investor in Ukraine's economy. All of this being said, the Ukraine is now a failed state with a growing demographic crisis due to a large-scale exodus of people seeking a better standard of living elsewhere. Trumps Recognition Of Jerusalem Makes Peace More Likely "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Later today Donald Trump is expected to make a largely symbolic but important gesture, recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel  not as an international capital or shared capital or capital in flux or as any of the other fantasies anti-Israel types have harbored since 1967. The most consequential long-term benefit of the move is that it begins to undercut a myth thats stood for years.

Palestinian leadership might have deluded their own people for decades, but there is no conceivable peace deal that includes a truly divided Jerusalem. Like the Right of Return, the notion that a part of Jerusalem proper will be handed over to an antagonistic government, much less the remnants of the PLO and their on-and-off political partners Hamas, is a fantasy. This is not a radical Likud position, its one of the few issues that all major political parties, left and right, agree on in Israel.

Jerusalem, after all, is not some concocted modern capital. The place itself is the affirmation of the Jewish claim on Israel. Consequently, the coming protests over Trumps move are not merely about a city, they are about challenging the right of Israel to exist a self-destructive position that most Palestinians still embrace. This isnt new. There has been a destructive effort within the Muslim world although it has been taken up by others, including the United Nations to deny the religious and historic connection between the city and the Jews. Moving the embassy, even if it entails nothing more than hanging a sign on a new building, is a pushback against attack on an ally.

That is, if you still view Israel as a close ally. Most do. Over the past 30 years, in fact, politicians keep telling voters that an undivided Jerusalem is the capital of Israel then doing nothing about it once theyre elected and not some of them, but virtually all of them.

Bill Clinton attacked George H.W. Bush for having repeatedly challenged Israels sov...

No, John Conyers Retirement Does Not Absolve Democrats "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Over the past several weeks, as titans of industry, entertainment, and journalism have been fired left and right for sexual misconduct, politicians ability to weather such allegations has been a subject of no little chatter. When TV personalities Charlie Rose and Matt Lauer leave spinning office chairs in the wake of their immediate dismissals, why have politicians facing serious accusations been spared?

On Tuesday, one of the first political casualties of this sexual harassment wave turned out to be Rep. John Conyers. The 88-year-old congressman and civil rights leader from Detroit has been dogged by charges that he sexually harassed women on his staff and covered up. His Democratic colleagues were slow and stumbling in addressing his conduct, but eventually many, including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, eventually stated that he should resign.

Conyers resignation, which he refers to as his retirement, raises a question. Does this move give the Democratic Party moral high ground in the firestorm of sexual harassment charges? The answer must decidedly be no. There are several reasons this is true, and even beyond that a deeper question that Americans must decide.

John Conyers Admits Nothing, and Loses Little

The first and most basic reason Conyers resig-tirement doesnt absolve the Democratic Party of any sins is that he isnt admitting to anything. In his own words, during a sympathetic radio interview, Conyers had this to say about the allegations against him: They are not accurate, theyre not true and I think that theyre something that I cant explain where they came from. This is delicate, political speech, to be sure, but lets be clear: he is calling his accusers liars.

Another problem Democrats face in claiming that Conyers decision to leave the House is some great moral victory is Sen. Al Franken. Franken not only faces multiple allegations of sexual abuse, there is even a photo of him groping a woman that he sent her as a way of throwing his failed sexual harassment in her face. The fact that an accused black leader is leaving Congress while the white Saturday Night Live star Franken stays snugly in his seat speaks volumes to Democrats supposed progressive values.

But perhaps the most revealing moment in the Conyers saga came in late November when Pelosi called Conyers an icon. This apparently was meant to mitigate the possibility that he had reached up staffers dresses. What benefit of the doubt was Pelosi suggesting his iconic status gave him? Maybe if youre an icon, they just let you do it.

This raises an interesting question that my colleague Mary Katharine Ham addressed on Twitter not long ago.

If Youre Feeling Too Frantic, Genuine Leisure Can Restore Your Soul "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Our modern economy has instilled a fetish of busyness. According to recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average American works more than a standard 40-hour workweek. Moreover, studies prove that we are terrible at taking time off: one report found that more than half of Americans (54 percent) ended 2016 with unused vacation time.

When were not busy working long hours, we spend our time consuming social media. But while there is virtue in working hard, and social media can provide communal and professional benefits, our society, through its hustle and bustle, has lost the classical understanding of leisure.

Leisure is a concept best understood by ancient Greeks and medieval Europeans, and is wonderfully articulated by German philosopher Josef Pieper in his 1948 book, Leisure, The Basis of Culture. In it, Pieper extends the classical understanding of leisure to cultures living amidst rapid advancements in science and technology. In light of the additional technological developments that have occurred since its publication, his observations are even more relevant today.

Towards a Better Understanding of Leisure

The classical conception of leisure originates from Aristotles moral philosophy. He described leisure (schole in ancient Greek and school in English) as the pursuit, knowledge, and expression of virtue. In antiquity, schools were considered the center of leisure and contemplation. Of all the virtuous acts, philosophical contemplation was considered one of the most sublime. The classical view on leisure later informed the Christian concept of the contemplative life, a way of living that is especially oriented toward reflection on divine truth.

Aristotle understood leisure as an act enjoyed for its own sake and a means by which to pursue happiness and a good lifethe end goal for which man ought to strive. Aristotelian leisure thus includes music, art, physical exercise, civic engagement, and above all, contemplation. Through such activities, one can participate in the finer things in life, while learning and gaining knowledge.

For much of humanity, however, and certainly during Aristotles lifetime, leisure was a privilege for the affluent class. Only through the development of labor-reducing technologies has it become possible for other...

Thank Separating Sex From Morality For The Great American Sexual Meltdown "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Many people have asked me, What is world is going on here, with Roy Moore, John Conyers, Joe Barton, Al Franken, Matt Lauer, and all the others? Ill tell you what is going on: moral truth is dead in America.

Its been a long time coming, but the bill is coming due for the hip and  progressive sexual revolution in America. The sexual abuse and harassment sweepstakes we are witnessing today is the direct result of our society deciding that Christian morality is narrow, repressive, and above all, not cool.

If it feels good do it. Have whatever sexual relationships you want, when you want, with whoever you want. That is and has been the prevailing societal view for decades, and it permeates our music, art, film, literature, social media, and conversations. There is nothing right or wrong. Oh, sure, folks will say it is wrong to hurt other people. But the truth is, when you throw objective morality out the window, everyone gets hurt.

Take Away Boundaries, and People Go Nuts

It used to be true that pornography was indecent, lewd, wrong, and, well, pornographic. It used to be true that killing unborn children was just that: killing. It used to be true that foul language was foul. It used to be true that adultery was a bad thing and marriage was forever.

None of that is true in America anymore. In fact, nothing is true now (with the possible exception of climate change). All moral codes are simply outdated and puritanical backward thinking. We are progressing. The guardrails, traffic lights, and yellow lines have all been removed. Hows that working out?

The Left likes to pretend the root problem is an outdated, patriarchal view of the world. They are only half right on this. They are right that men are behaving badly. This is indeed a factual analysis, and no man deserves a pass. Not only that, the more who are called to account for their tawdry actions, the better.

But what the Left misses is the simple fact that once you remove all moral codes, men will in fact behave badly. Count on it. The theological explanation would be the doctrine of original sin. The modern explanation would be that men are pigs. These two doctrines are essentially the same, just differently described. (Yes, of course, women are plenty capable of bad behavior, too. It seems silly to have to say that, but whatever.)

Take any group of men on the planet and convince them that there are no sexual boundaries, and you will get America in 2017. Count on it. If you dont believe this, you are hopeless, nave, and cannot be helped. Am I acquitting men for their horrible actions? Not in the least. Im just telling you the absolute truth. Any woman who doesnt understand this needs to adjust her thinking right now. In a morality-free sexual world, women will be victimized....

The Yemen Civil War Just Got Even Worse "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Its hard to imagine the situation in Yemen getting worse, but it appears thats exactly what has happened. Reports this week that the former president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, had been killed by Houthi rebels have now been confirmed, which means Yemen is poised to spiral further into chaos.

It all started last week, when fighting erupted on the streets of the capital city, Sana, between the Houthi rebels and those loyal to Saleh, two factions that until recently had been allies in Yemens protracted civil war. After five days of fighting, much of it concentrated in the southern district where Salehs relatives reside, 230 people are dead and the brittle alliance between the two groups has collapsed.

How We Got Here

To properly understand the situation and how it led to Salehs death requires a dive into the complicated and tumultuous recent history of Yemen. Saleh was president for more than 30 years. While presiding over an impoverished country, he was a brutal leader. Saleh claimed he was able to remain in power, outwitting his opponents, because he was to dance on the heads of snakes.

Robert F. Worth describes how Saleh ruled Yemen in his recent book on the Arab Spring, A Rage for Order:

Most Arab dictators have been corrupt and manipulative, but Yemens ruler, Ali Abdullah Saleh, brought these traits to a whole new level of cynicism and mastery. In the Arab worlds poorest countryhe managed to rake off tens of billions of dollars in public funds for himself and his family, becoming richer than Egypts latter-day pharaoh, Hosni Mubarak. Saleh elevated blackmail into a tool of the state, redefining his countrys worst afflictions as investments that could be used to bilk anxious donors like the United States and Saudi Arabia. Al Qaeda was his greatest success: it put his country on the map and brought him hundreds of millions in military aid and cash. But Salehs real currency was power, not money. His greatest talent was for corrupting other people He made sure that every potential opponent had dirty money or blood on his hands, or both.

When the Arab Spring began six years ago, it was no surprise that it eventually came to Yemen, and the people, bolstered by pressure from the Obama administration, demanded that Saleh leave office amid protests that grew violent. Elections were finally held in 2012, and Salehs vice president, Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi (incidentally, the only person running for president in the election), won,...

How Changing Views Of Sexual Assault Affect Trafficking Victims Like Cyntoia Brown "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Have you seen the hashtag #FreeCyntoiaBrown lately on your social media feeds? Its a growing campaign to grant parole and freedom to Cyntoia Brown, a 29-year-old woman who has served 13 years in prison for killing the man who sex-trafficked her. In 2004, when she was only 16, Brown was convicted of prostitution and murder, and given a life sentence without eligibility for parole until 2059.

Celebrities such as Rihanna and LeBron James have taken to social media to speak out against the verdict and call for legal action: Imagine at the age of 16 being sex-trafficked by a pimp named cut throat. After days of being repeatedly drugged and raped by different men you were purchased by a 43 year old child predator who took you to his home to use you for sex. You end up finding enough courage to fight back and shoot and kill him. Youre arrested as a result tried and convicted as an adult and sentenced to life in prison. This is the story of Cyntoia Brown. She will be eligible for parole when she is 69 years old. #FreeCyntoiaBrown

This is the text that appeared on the image Rihanna shared on Instagram, alongside her exclamation: Something is horribly wrong when the system enables these rapists and the victim is thrown away for life! Champion basketball player LeBron James chimed in with outrage as well: Guess she didnt have the RIGHT to finally defend herself huh?!? Cyntoia should be getting a award, medal of courage of sort instead of being locked up. Reality TV star Kim Kardashian West, model and actor Cara Delevingne, and rap singer Snoop Dogg have used their social-media platforms to bring attention to the cause as well.

Talk About Blaming the Victim

Browns case certainly does seem like an unfair sentence. But the way her jury and judge viewed it in 2004 was the way many trafficked minors cases have been until nowtreating the minor not as a victim but as a criminal. I think this is because our culture is finally starting to see sexual crimes against women for what they are, and were less compelled by narratives that would blame women for attracting men.

In her trial, Brown was wrongfully painted as a juvenile delinquent, committing crimes of prostitution and murder that made her worthy of being tried as an adult. In reality, Brown was repeatedly sexually assaulted, kidnapped, sex-trafficked, and forced into sex that since she was 16 would be statutory rape even if it had been consensualit was notand she acted in self-defense to kill one of her traffickers.

The two versions of this story are so star...

No, Patagonia, President Trump Is Not Stealing Our Land "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

On Monday, after President Trump announced he was reducing the size of the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments in Utah, outdoors retailer Patagonia replaced the splash page of its website with the message: The President Stole Your Land. Patagonia has since announced that it will sue the White House over the decision. Can Patagonia pursue such a lawsuit, and if so, what would it claim and how would Trump defend himself?

At the outset, the administration might challenge Patagonias standing to file a lawsuit over the re-designation of these monuments. Under our Constitution, the jurisdiction of federal courts is limited. At a minimum, a plaintiff must show: (1) an injury in fact; (2) traceable to the defendants conduct; and (3) a likelihood that a favorable decision will redress the plaintiffs injury.

In this case, the injury is the most debatable. Patagonia can allege a direct injury and attempt to demonstrate that Trumps decision has cost them business. Alternatively, Patagonia can try to allege third-party standing on behalf of customers (though this type of standing usually applies where a sales transaction is otherwise alleged to be illegal).

Unlike other environmental lawsuits, however, Patagonias assertion of standing arguably rests on whether the marginal disincentive of people to buy its wares caused by Trumps decision is so minimal as to not constitute a concrete injury in fact, where the monument remains in a smaller form. Federal courts have wrestled with somewhat similar standing problems in other contexts.

Heres Where They Argue If They Get In the Door

Lets presume Patagonia finds a federal judge willing to say it has standing to sue. Quite apart from the likelihood that Patagonias counsel would research to look for a friendly venue, the standing doctrine is sufficiently murky that the company may get past the courthouse door (and environmental groups asserting the interests of their members likely will).

Patagonia would likely try to bring to sue Trump for violating the Antiquities Act of 1906. The retailer might add constitutional claims that the president is violating the separation of powers or his duty to take care that the laws be faithfully executed, but these claims are largely contingent on the claim to be made under the act.

Lets briefly examine how the act works. The Constitutions property clause (Art. IV, sec. 3, cl. 2) provides in part that Congress shall have power to dispose of and make all needful Rules and Regulations respecting the Territory or other Property belonging to the United States.

How To Get The Good Kind Of Privilege And Erase The Bad Kind "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Folks on the progressive left have much to say against the idea of privilege these days, particularly what they see as unfair privilege that entrenches unequal socio-economic outcomes and perpetuates the influence and social standing of culturally powerful groups. Thus, along with the street activism, protests, shout-downs and such, we see screeds against white-/ male-/ hetero-/ etc.-/ privilege.

Indeed, the application of privilege theory seemingly knows no bounds: theres even a thin privilege corresponding with fat discrimination. Whatever your perceived oppression, theres a privilege theory for that.

Privilege is important in understanding and improving society, and theres plenty of room to criticize certain privileges as being unfair and unworthy of a free society. But lest we throw the baby out with the bathwater, we need also to appreciate the positive roles that other forms of privilege can play.

To be sure, privileges that arise strictly from accidental factors beyond ones control are usually lamentable and often evil. They are also often deeply entrenched in a society, such as the privileged status of higher versus lower castes in Indias ancient religious hierarchy, which still leads to much greater job and marriage opportunities for the privileged groups.

The prime American example is, of course, the racial privileges associated with African slavery and perpetuated into the twentieth century via Jim Crow laws. Even societies without the baggage of evil, institutionalized privileges in the form of caste or slave systems will see microcosms of bad privilege in the nepotism and favoritism practiced by governmental bureaucracies and businesses.

Exclusive Versus Inclusive Privilege

Yes, privilege is all around us, but despite the Lefts association of privilege with evil, not all privileges are bad. Rather than merely identify privilege and rant against it, we must distinguish between the source and nature of different forms of privilege. An essential distinction involves what I like to call exclusive and inclusive privilege.

Exclusive privileges help the in-group by forcibly, legally denying members of the outgroup access to rungs on the ladder of social and economic advancement. A college not admitting blacks who meet the same academic qualifications as their white students exemplifies this kind of exclusive privilege, as do laws prohibiting interracial marriage or disallowing women from owning property.

If anti-privilege crusaders are strictly about breaking down these kinds of privilege, they are generally commendable, although to root out fully all forms of exclusivity would destroy freedom of association. While we may oppose a law that enforces racial segregation or bars women from land owne...

This Progressive 1970s Kids Album Sounds Reactionary Now, But Should It? "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Music important to your past has a way of finding your present. Feeling suddenly nostalgic recently, I told my daughters Id play them one of my favorite childhood records. So, with Spotifys help, I streamed Free to BeYou and Me, an album I havent heard in 30 years.

The album came out in 1972 as a collaboration between actress Marlo Thomas and a bevy of celebrities, for the purpose of encouraging gender neutrality and tolerance. It sounds very progressive, and it was, yet I marveled at its content. This kids album is so very political, and much of its revolutionary message sounds old-fashioned, even reactionary a mere four decades after its debut.

That isnt how I remembered it, of course. I vaguely recalled songs that made me want to dance, comedic skits, and William Wants a Doll. My gal pals and I enjoyed singing about William in the 80s. There was even a rendition at a day camp talent show. Given that we didnt know boys who played with dolls, I suppose our singing felt rebellious.

Of course, it wouldnt be today. Liberal parents I know are eager to buy dolls for their young sons. And the most traditional parents I know arent all that different. Theyre comfortable with their sons playing with dolls, even as they recognize their sons typically play dont Family (as my daughters do constantly) without an instigating girl.

But it wasnt so much that. It was the rest of it, particularly the thematic thread of sex differences that pervades the album. This album has a strong message about the equality of men and women that mustve sounded groundbreaking in 1972. Theres also discussion of (heterosexual) marriage and a huge emphasis on boys growing up to be men (and fathers) and girls growing up to women (and mothers) that struck me as a contemporary listener.

Our Culture Has Changed So Fast

In the span of history, 45 years is a blink. Yet, in that short time, social norms have changed so completely that what was radical in 1972 more closely approximates the cultural right than the cultural left in 2017. Its not a perfect match, especially if we consider the parable of the girl who is eaten by a tiger after repeatedly saying, Ladies first! but the shift is perceptible.

Consider the story of Atalanta, the princess with the old-fashioned father, who isnt sure she wants to wed. Its not that Atalanta thinks of marriage as a useless piece of paper, as it is sometimes derisively described today, or that she considers it independent of parenthood. Rather, Atalanta wants to travel the world, while preserving the option of marrying Young John later. Between Young John sounding like best friend material, and Atalantas desire to postpone marriage, she sounds like a fairly typical twenty-first-century college graduate.

Theres also a Carol Channing mo...

GOP Tax Bills Would Preserve Billions In Cash Transfers To Illegal Immigrants "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

For years, the Internal Revenue Service has been paying billions of dollars to illegal aliens, in effect bribing them to come to the United States to claim cash benefits. In 2010 alone, the government agency paid individuals not authorized to work here (i.e., illegal aliens) $4.2 billion in refundable tax credits.

Tax reform gave Republicans a chance to stop this. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown, House and Senate Republicans recently produced bills that would entrench current law: financially rewarding foreign citizens who come to the United States illegally and have children to help them remain here.

How Is This Even Possible?

The IRS makes payments to low-income workers who pay little to no federal income tax but still qualify for refundable tax credits. These refundable credits function as tax subsidies, regardless of how much the recipient is taxed. In other words, its possible to pay nothing in taxes and get money from U.S. taxpayers.

Two of the most prominent refundable tax credits are the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC). Under current law, only workers with Social Security numbers valid for employment can collect the EITCa restriction that bars illegal aliens from accessing the program. But, for some reason, the refundable Child Tax Credit is available to individuals not authorized to work in this country, simply for having children here. As a result, U.S. taxpayers pay billions each year to illegal aliens.

In the past, Congress tried to prevent this from happening. In the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, Congress provided that federal public benefitsi.e., welfarewould not be paid to illegal aliens.

Why Did Bradys Fix Disappear?

Earlier this month, it seemed Republicans planned to fix the problem for good. On November 3, House Ways and Means Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) released a substitute amendmentor chairmans markto address the problem, making it clear that the refundable CTC would not be available to illegal aliens. Bradys amendment would require taxpayers to have valid Social Security numbers for work in order to qualify for the CTC.

On November 13, the bill passed the Ways and Means Committee. On November 16, it passed the House of Representatives. But somewhere between the chairmans mark and the...

Why Animal Crossings Latest Mobile Game Hits The Sweet Spot "IndyWatch Feed Nthamerica"

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a free mobile game and newest addition to the Animal Crossing series. Nintendo took the traditional Animal Crossing formula, along with elements from other mobile games, to make a free-to-play, highly polished hybrid that the gaming world is falling in love with. This may mean there truly is a future for more console-quality games for mobile devices.

The Animal Crossing series are cute and iconic life-simulation games. The main goal is to establish a life on your own, make money to expand and improve your house, make friends, and enhance the town you live in. All the other characters are animals. Where many other games focus on home improvement and accumulating wealth, the main focus on this game is establishing and enhancing friendship. Pocket Camp gives players a mobile home instead of the traditional house, so you live on a campsite and travel to connected islands, gathering items to complete quests.

Animal Crossing has already been a huge success, selling more than 30 million units of games since its release in 2001. It released this November, and currently has well more than 200,000 downloads on the Google Play, with even more on iTunes, and is growing fast. The reviews show overwhelming affection toward the game and how well it connects with the rest of the series.

Smart Handling of In-Game Purchases

The game play is exactly what youd expect from an Animal Crossing title and there isnt too much emphasis on spending real money in game, says Google Play reviewer Kelly Jones.

Gamers hate when in-game purchases are necessary for gameplay, as displayed in the recent uproar against EA for the excessive pay-to-play aspects of its new Star Wars Battlefront II, which led to their company value dropping nearly $3 billion. Nintendo was much smarter about it.

In-app purchases are similar to the system in Pokmon Go. You are able to purchase Leaf Tickets that function as an alternate currency to purchase things like inventory upgrades. You can earn Leaf Tickets through free gameplay as well. The purchases are not necessary to unlock basic parts of the game, but speed up or ease small tasks, while also not giving overwhelming advantages to those willing to shell out real cash for the game.

Since the game is free, and available on a phone you already have, there truly is no cost necessary to play. If you were to buy a new handheld console, it would run you a hundred or so, plus the cost of games. So even if one wanted to spend small amounts of money on the game, it is still a bargain compared to traditional console gaming. Nintendo is relying on in-app purchases for this title, as there are no real ads in game, but they are not pushing it down peoples throats. Because of this, the game is only as expensive as you allow it to be.
